Sirius: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!
James: Oh god, Pads!
Sirius: Oh you, sick, sick bastards…
Regulus: Listen Sirius—
Sirius: This is incest!
James: No it’s not!
Sirius: Yes it is, James!
James: We’re not related!
Sirius: Oh and that makes it okay I suppose?
James: Well it makes it not incest!

hi bae, just wondering if you could write something like roommate!marauders and reader with anxiety where everytime one of them goes out she gets really worried that’s somethings gonna happen to them and waits up for them and just feels like a burden when she calls to make sure they’re alright and just general anxiety things and them being so sweet about it
love u
love u too♡
cw death related anxiety
“Hey, Remus?” you ask tentatively.
Your housemate lays across the sofa with his dinner half eaten on the coffee table and a book tented on his chest. He's ignoring both in favour of the television, a rerun of Family Fortunes turning the sofa cushions and his pale skin a light blue.
He drags his blue-tinged gaze from the subtitles to your frowning. “What's wrong?” he asks. You're surprised he heard you over the sound of Sirius’ stereo echoing down the stairs.
“Where did James say he was going?”
“I think he said he'd be at the gym for an hour now he's not in work. Want me to call him?”
“Why would you call him?” you ask, instead of saying yes, please, like you want to.
“You're worrying again.”
They know how you are. It doesn't mean they have to understand —it isn't logical to think James is hurt because he hasn't been home today yet, and none of them are required to humour you in your worry, but they always do.
You feel sick as he takes his phone from his pocket. You've convinced yourself that James is dead, that his car curled around a bend too quickly on the drive in the rain, or that something happened at the gym, or that he never made it there at all, had a fit in the car park outside of work. Even as you think it, you know it's implausible, unlikely, just a repetitive negative anxiety worming its way into your head, but you can't make it stop.
James doesn't answer the first time, which doesn't help, and then when he does answer the second time you're waiting for bad news. Remus smiles as he talks. “Hello? Jamie?”
James doesn't need speak phone to be heard. “Remus! I'm at the gym, what's happening?”
Remus wrinkles his nose. “What's happening? Since when do you say that?”
“What's up?” James corrects. “I'm on my way out of the gym, can you talk? You can keep me company while I drive.”
Remus holds out the phone to you.
“Remus?” James asks into the room. You take the phone before he can hang up, and decide to be honest, but the words get stuck like toffee between your teeth. “Hello?”
“Hey,” you say, sending Remus a grateful look. He moves over to make room on settee for you, and his arm wraps familiarly around your shoulders as you settle in. He turns his attention back to his show.
“Oh my god hey, angel. Remus okay?”
“I was making him ring you, sorry. I thought… you know what I'm like. It's getting late and you aren't home, and I know I don't have the right to pester you about where you are.”
“Yeah you do,” James says, his voice louder, like his mouth is very close to the microphone. “Course you do. I'd worry too if you weren't home yet.”
“I do this all the time, though.”
Just last week he and Sirius were out late and you'd panicked that they'd both been hurt. You stayed up until almost one in the morning waiting for them to get home from a music shop in the city, each minute after eleven like a shot of ice water in your veins. Sirius jumped when he saw you waiting in the living room, but then he'd given you a hug and rubbed at your shoulders roughly. You didn't wait up for us, did you?
“It's worse lately, yeah?” James asks. You hum non-committal, and Remus gives you a squeeze in typical Remus fashion. You hadn't even realised he was listening, but his support makes this easier. “You're worrying about us more.”
“Yeah,” you say. “I don't know why. And it sucks because I know it's making me a lot to deal with.”
“I would one thousand percent prefer it if you rang me then sat there worrying. That would make me feel better. And Remus and Sirius feel the same way, okay? We could all stand to ring each other a bit more anyways.”
You rub your nose into your hand. “Sorry,” you mumble.
“There's no need to be. I love you, ‘n I just want you to be happy. If a phone call can make that happen then why shouldn't you do it? And it's not like they're a big imposition, I like talking to you. We all do.”
James is home from the gym what could only be ten minutes later, and he leans over the back of the settee to kiss your forehead chasely. “Here we are, all safe and well.”
“You haven't seen Sirius yet,” Remus points out.
“I can bloody well hear him. What is he listening to? Is that U2?” James shakes his head in disgust. “I can see why you were so worried I wasn't coming home. Let me go put a stop to that immediately.”

Rain, Cinnamon, Cologne, and Conditioner
pairing: sirius black x reader
summary: Amortentia week is always chaotic. Especially so when you're lab partners with longtime frenemy sirius black
warnings: Language maybe, fic from reader's pov
a/n: been forever since i wrote for a marauder, lets hope this is acceptable 🙏🏻
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Although Slughorn certainly meant well, there was simply nothing that one could do to hate him a bit less during Amortentia week. Dramatic breakups preceded by "What do you MEAN you smell my sister's perfume!?", and hasty love confessions followed by immediate regret, for a spectator like me this was the best week ever at Hogwarts.
The class smelled faintly of rain and cinnamon to me, a lingering effect of the neighboring cauldrons.
"I honestly have no idea what I'm supposed to be smelling here, like, I am certain no one has smelled this exact smell before."
"James, come on, that is clearly Lavender."
"What?"
"I smell Lavender!" she said, weirdly enthusiastic about the smell.
"Lily, honey, say that again but slowly."
It took her a minute before she realized. Even the smartest people get confuddled sometimes. Of course, she'll never know what it smelled like to him.
Somewhere in the back, I saw Lucius Malfoy almost poke some poor kid's eye out with his wand, and next to his table was Severus Snape, staring menacingly into a cauldron that definitely did not have Amortentia in it. He was a weird kid. Creeps me out still.
Anyway, that brings us to Sirius and I, who couldn't agree on who gets to put the sneezewort in.
"After you," I said, not wanting to bear the brunt of what will follow. You see, Sneezewort gets its name from the fact that whenever it's added to a potion, it produces a puff of smoke that causes those closest to sneeze for a good entire minute.
"Oh, no, go ahead. I insist."
"Well, I insist more."
"I insist the most, then."
"Sirius, come on."
"Hey, you started it!"
"Well, you end it. I don't want to keep sneezing!"
"Oh, good, because it's my favorite hobby, sneezing incessantly."
There was no compromise in sight. That is, until-
"Alright Sirius, I'll tell you what. You convince Peter to do this, I'll get Marlene to go with you to Hogsmeade. For real this time."
"Please, I don't need you to be my wingman, I'm perfectly charming all on my own, thank you very much," he said, signature smirk decorating his face.
"You know you need my hel-"
"Yes I do, I was kidding, thank you so much, I love you."
I shook my head and laughed while waiting for Peter to take whatever bait Sirius was laying out. Sure, he was presumptuous and annoying, and the banter was endless, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't look forward to it every day at this point.
After Remus begrudgingly dragged a red-in-the-face Peter away from our table, we stirred the potion 3 times, and all that was left was to add the pieces of Lovelog. We added them at the same time and instinctively held our breaths and waited for the potion to turn pink, which it did. However, it didn't work.
"Dude, I smell nothing."
"Yes, thanks for pointing it out, (Y/n). Extremely astute observation. 10 points to Gryffindor."
"Oh, okay, sure, be all haughty after fucking up the potion."
"I fucked up? That's presumptuous! For all we know, you screwed up."
"Please, I used Slughorn's recipe down to the smallest detail there is no way it was me. You were the one who kept taking off to 'charm Marlene with your smile' every 5 minutes."
"Hey. I'm playing the long game and it will work. Eventually. Just- Admit that you screwed up, please?"
"Oh, no, no we are not doing this. Remus, could you come here, please?"
"Me? Oh, no, love. I am not getting involved with this," said Remus, vaguely gesturing in our general direction.
James threw a raisin-looking thing at Sirius' head to get his attention which met its mark, followed by a faint 'ow'.
"Oi dickhead! Lily says you're potion's working fine. She smells Lavender."
"Well dip me in milk and call me a cookie 'cause I cannot smell anything for the life of me over that fruity conditioner of yours," said Sirius, in an annoyingly accusatory tone that set me over the edge because well first of all fuck you. second of all-
"Oh, you're one to talk Mr I-must-use-the-entire-bottle-of-cologne. You smell like an axe showroom" Yeah, get his ass, me. "Also, I didn't use conditioner today, you pompous dick."
"Yeah? Well, get ready to feel stupid because I ran out of cologne yesterday. Ha. In your face." Wait, what?
Silence.
Contemplative silence.
A whole lot of good old silence.
Faces contorting in ways like never before as we unpack what just happened, in sweet, painful, silence.
"(Y/n) did you-"
"Uh-uh. Yep. Apparently. And you, uh,"
"Big time, yes."
"Oh, okay, so, uh, what now?"
"We could talk about it?"
Sirius Black wants to "talk it out". Yeah, we don't got this.
"Hey morons, you need to fu-"
"Yeah, thank you, Remus. We got it." "Yeah, Cheers, mate."

“Princess.” James wraps a hand around your elbow as you try to go out into the garden, his grip gentle but firm. “Just wait a minute, Remus needs to do a sweep before we can go out.”
“But it’s leaving!” you cry, gaze fixed on the orange cat slinking into the bushes with something akin to longing. “He’s gonna scare it off!”
Sirius chuckles. “Remus is great with cats, angel. Knowing him, he’ll have the thing sleeping at the foot of his bed by tonight.”
“But where’ll you sleep?” James asks innocently, snickering when Sirius shoves at his shoulder.
“It’s so cute,” you croon, eyes so heart-shaped James tenses in case you try to bolt for it. “Do you think my mom’ll let me keep it?”
“Think King’s allergic, so no,” Sirius says, squeezing your shoulder in apology.
“What if we keep it a secret?”
James smiles at you, ready to indulge you in your hopeless fantasy, but then Remus comes back.
“All clear,” he says seriously, and James nods at him as you rush through the door.
It never fails to surprise him how quick you are when you want to be, and he and the others have to break into a jog to keep you within a reasonable distance as you dash for the cat, stopping a few feet away so as not to spook it.
“Don’t do that,” Sirius says breathlessly, but it’s pointless. You’re beyond listening, all your focus on the orange tabby in front of you.
It hisses as you get closer, and you coo, making little kissy sounds. James tries not to laugh at your obvious desperation, staying back so you can’t blame him when the cat inevitably runs off.
“Be careful,” Remus warns. “We don’t know if it’s friendly, don’t grab it or anything.”
“Oh, of course he’s friendly,” you murmur liltingly, advancing toward the cat slowly and low to the ground. “He’s just scared, the poor baby.” Your voice is light and sweet as meringue, and James’ heart turns to mush in his chest at hearing it. You start to extend your hand cautiously, and the tabby tenses, eyeing you warily. “It’s okay, honey, I’m not going to—” you gasp as the cat lashes out with its claws, drawing your arm back reflexively as it dashes into the bushes and out of sight.
Remus had to have been anticipating it, because he’s at your side before James can move, crouching beside you and taking your arm in his hand. He shushes you softly as you call out after the cat, and James exchanges a look with Sirius, waiting for the dark-haired boy to nod in confirmation that he’ll keep watch before James joins Remus beside you.
“I didn’t even get to pet it,” you say morosely. James frowns at you, patting your shoulder consolingly.
“He didn’t deserve you, angel,” he says, and Remus tsks as he turns your arm over in his grip, four shallow but long scratches oozing blood down your wrist.
“Let’s go inside and get you fixed up,” Remus says gently, and he and James help you up, guiding you back towards the palace as you cast forlorn looks behind you.
“This isn’t a great look for us,” Sirius teases you. “The three of us walking back into the palace with a bleeding princess.”
You give a little laugh, your usual levity restored instantly by his joking. “It’s not like it’s a grave injury,” you reply, rolling your eyes good-naturedly. “I don’t know why these two are acting like I can’t walk by myself.”
James chuckles but keeps his hand on your back. “Like Sirius says, it’s not a great look for us. May as well appear to be taking it seriously.”
“Some guards we are,” Remus agrees lightly. “Can’t even protect you from a feral cat.”
“He wasn’t feral!” you say defensively. “He was just scared. He’s misunderstood.”
“Whatever you say, gorgeous.” Sirius shrugs, opening the door for all of you. “All I know is, you’re never getting near an animal again that’s not pre-vetted by one of us. Too risky.”

Could you please write a part two with a happy ending to Sirius Blacks first fight? I’m a happy ending girl too and it’s killing me that it ends like that! 😂
sirius black x reader
part 2 to this
very willing to finish this as a happy ending
Its been two weeks since your fight with Sirius. Actually its been two weeks since you last even saw him seeing as two days after the fight everyone was heading home for the holidays.
And now, as you stand in your fire place on new years eve, preparing to use the floo network to get to the Potters for a party, you are panicking.
Two weeks. Two weeks away from Sirius was all it took for you to realize you didn’t want to be away from him, but what he did was wrong, and he never apologized.
So you were panicking, scared that the second you saw his stupid, perfect, flawless face, you’d be apologizing, retracting your previous argument, even when you still stand by what you said.
So with one last deep breath, you throw down the floo powder and speak ‘Potter’s Manor’
Moments after you appear in the Potter boys fireplace, you are pulled from it by an already tipsy James.
“Y/n, you’re here!”
Accepting the uncoordinated hug he’s giving you, you laugh softly at him.
“Yes James, how-”
You’re quickly cut off by a familiar voice,
“Oi, Prongs, who are you over here harassing now”
James quickly, or as quickly as he can with his current state, releases you from his arms and looks at the source of the voice behind you.
You turn to face Sirius, mentally preparing yourself, yet again, to see his stupid flawless face.
Only this time, you’re not greeted by a flawless face. No, there’s actually a flaw, one big one. A big black eye.
Of course you know of Sirius’ home life, but never had you seen him with a bruise like this. His parents always seemed to make sure the abuse the enacted was hidden away.
Apparently you had been staring, mouth slightly agape, at Sirius’ eye for long enough for James to have wandered away, and for Sirius to feel the need to regain your attention.
“Hello? Y/n?”
Blinking harshly a few times to pull yourself out of your trance.
“Hm? Sorry, Hi, Sirius.”
Sirius can’t stop the small smile that forms on his face hearing his name coming from your lips.
“How was your christmas?” He questions you, pulling you even further from the trance your still kind of in.
“It was nice, missed my family. How was yours?”
You felt silly asking him that, obviously it couldn’t have been good. Unless the only thing on his christmas list was a bruised eye.
Sirius’ answer abruptly ripped you out of your thoughts. “It was really good actually,” he pause and smiled softly, not his usual smirk, but a genuine smile that looked like he couldn’t help but do it.
“Spent it here, with the Potters.” He continued, which made your lips part in shock for the second time this evening.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I’m, uh, actually living here now. But, um, would you mind going upstairs to talk, I have a lot I need to tell you.”
“Oh, yeah, sure-” You start before getting interrupted yet again, this time by Marlene grabbing your arm.
“Y/n! You’re here! C’mon we need to get you a drink.”
With that she pulls you away from Sirius and towards the table that has a spread of various liquids on it.
A few hours pass, only around 20 minutes left until midnight, and you’ve still yet to stumble upon Sirius again.
That is until you are stepping out of the bathroom and straight into a hard surface, Sirius’ chest. His arms speedily wrap around your waist, much to fast for someone who was drunk, which leads you to believe he hadn’t drunk which is very unlike him.
He keeps his hands on your waist when he looks down at you, “You okay?”
“Mhm, Sorry Siri” Immediately after the words left your mouth you’re mentally berating yourself for it, the stupid nickname just slipped out.
Sirius doesn’t seem to notice or at least if he did he didn’t show it.
He removes his arms from your body and takes a small step back to give you your personal space.
“Could we maybe talk now? My rooms right there,” He is picking at the skin around his nails as he talks, a nervous habit of his you could recognize anywhere.
You can’t stop yourself from reaching out with your own hand to take one of his, as to stop his picking.
“Sure, Sirius” You give him the warmest smile you can muster up, but you’re 99% sure it was more a nervous smile than anything.
He doesn’t release your hand but instead uses it to guide you a few feet down the hall into his bedroom.
Scanning the room while Sirius shuts the door, you notice that his room is lacking in anything very personal, that is barring 3 things.
The first being a drawing of his star and his brothers that they drew together as kids taped to the wall, the next being a small stuffed lion you had given him in second year when he was upset that Regulus was sorted into a different house.
And the final thing being a set of photos from a muggle photo booth taped up on the wall next to the drawing, they are of the two of you on your third date when you snuck out of school to show Sirius a muggle carnival.
Sirius steps around you to take a seat on the end of his bed and pats the spot next to him for you to sit.
The moment you sit down next to him, he quickly turns to look at you and speak.
“I just wanted to tell you how sorry i am, for everything.”
“Sirius, I-”
“Y/n, please just let me say this,”
You stay silent, and nod to let him know to continue.
“You don’t have to forgive me, but I just felt like you deserve an explanation. I have no idea why I let that girl flirt with me, and I especially don’t know why I did it back. It isn’t fun, I don’t enjoy flirting with anyone but you. No one else scrunches up their nose and blushes when I compliment them like you do. No one else’s entire face turns red and hides in my neck when I kiss their head, not that I’m kissing anyone else’s head, by the way.”
You giggle softly at the was he rushes out the last part and he smiles.
“And that, no one else has a laugh that makes me want to do as many stupid things as I can just to hear it, no matter the consequence. I think I flirted back with her because I was scared, that if i wasn’t the same flirty, confident, ‘I don’t care about anything’ person, no one would like me anymore. But I realized, I really don’t care if they like me, I just want you to like me.”
You let out a shaky breath before speaking, “Sirius,”
“Hold on, I’ve still got more.”
That makes you burst out into a fit of giggles for a minute until you can calm yourself down.
“Okay, okay, continue.”
He’s grinning at you ear to ear when you look back at him when you speak.
“Thank you,” He chuckles
“I’m also sorry that I don’t know how to love you the way you deserve. I know that you deserve better than me, and I planned to leave you alone so you could find that. But after my parents beat the shit out of me a week ago and I had a few minutes to grab some of my stuff and run, the first thing I grabbed were our pictures. I know its selfish, but I love you so much that i can’t help but be selfish when it comes to you, I don’t want you to go find someone else who can love you better, I want you to help me learn how to love you right.”
When he finishes there are tears building up in your eyes, threatening to fall down your cheeks.
A small “Sirius..” is all you manage before the tears to fall and you wrap your arms around his waist and burying your head into his chest.
“Oh, darling, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to make you cry.” He murmurs softly into your ear as he begins to run one of his hands up and down your back, soothingly, and the other through your hair.
“How can you say things like that and not expect me to cry?” You say through sobs, squeezing your arms around him tighter.
“Oh sweetheart,” Is all his says as he continues the movements with his hands until you calm down and pull back from his arms.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have jumped on you like that.”
“Please don’t be sorry, all I’ve wanted since I ran away was to hug you.”
That makes you frown a little before you reach out and grab his hand.
“Sirius, I forgive you, and I miss you so so much, I was to harsh when I told you that you weren’t good at loving people. Its not your fault your parents are pricks,”
Sirius laughs fully at that, and squeezes your hand tighter.
“I shouldn’t have handled that situation the way I did. I was acting purely out of jealousy and wasn’t being rational. I’m not saying what you did was okay, but I understand why you did it, and I believe you when you say you won’t again.”
Sirius’ faces grows into a bigger smile the more you speak.
“So what does this mean?” He questions excitedly.
“It means that I want you to be selfish, I want to teach you what it feels to really love, and I especially want to be your girlfriend again.”
Sirius jumps to his feet and pulls you up with him and into his arms to hug you.
“Oh thank Merlin, I think I would have died without you.”
You smile against his neck from the position he has you stuck in.
“There’s my drama queen, oh how I missed you.” You tease and he pulls away from the hug slightly.
“Oh, you-” He starts but cuts himself off when the sound of everyone down stairs counting down from 10 can be heard.
He looks down at you and smiles.
10..
9..
8..
7..
He leans closer to your face, and moves one of his hands to push a lock of hair behind your ear and rests it on you cheek.
4..
3..
2..
You stand up on your toes so that your lips brush lightly against one another’s.
1..
“Happy new years, my love.” Sirius whispers against your lips.
“Happy new years, Siri.” You respond before standing up a little taller to fully press your lips together into a deep passionate kiss.
You break away a few moments later, foreheads resting against one another, heavy breathing matched up, and the yelling cheers of your friends celebrating down stairs.
“I love you, Sirius.”
“I love you, Y/n.”
Theres a sudden crash and the sound of breaking glass down stairs along with someone yelling “James!” that breaks you both out of your lovesick trance.
You both groan, and separate from each other except for your hands which are still clasped together.
You head out into the hall before you speak again.
“Oh and we need to circle back to your parents beating the shit out of you,”
“Shit, I thought I distracted you enough that you’d forget about that.”
“Sirius. What?!”

Harrymort with Dementor!Voldemort and/or Dementor!Harry? "The Dementor's Kiss" but with romantic/sexual connotations, the possibilities of soul magic and stuff (or maybe Master of Death Harry having some special ability to communicate with or connect to Dementors and a Dementor discovering it's been so lonely until it finally found a being that didn't just see it as a mindless monster or as a mere obedient Ministry servant, with greater plans for its kind?)
Harry knew the Hallows had changed him, but it took him a while to understand just how fucked he really was.
It was, like usual, Hermione that finally figured it out.
The cold he brings, the stirring of horrible memories in those around him, the fact that food no longer appeals to him but that an insatiable hunger gnaws at him whenever he gets too close to people.
He's either turning into a dementor, or he's taking on their traits - and neither option bodes well for him.
The fact that he is also destabilising because the horcrux was torn out of him, leaving his own soul to collapse without its cornerstone? Not fun.
Again, it's Hermione who finds a solution, but god if it isn't one he wants to reject.
"You can't exist without him, Harry," she said through tears, clutching at his hands no matter how it made her bones ache from the chill. "You're dying, and without his soul there's nothing we can do."
Ron was silent beside her, his eyes red-rimmed but sharp as he spread out a roll of parchment over the coffee table.
"We've worked it all out, mate. This'll get us where we need to go."
Harry blinked back the haze, staring at Ron with surprise.
"Us?"
"'Course," Ron said, easy as anything. "You didn't think we'd send you off by yourself, did you?"
"I can't ask you to -"
"Good thing you're not asking anything," Ron interrupted, firm but somehow still painfully kind.
Harry turned to Hermione, desperate for her to add some logic to this mess.
Her expression melted, a hopelessly fond smile creeping forward. "Honestly Harry, in what world would we not go with you?"
And, well, when she put it like that he couldn't really argue. The three of them had beaten all the odds and overcome every challenge just to remain together.
"Okay," he sighed. "Okay, so we're going to go back to when I still had the horcrux, but when is that? And what do we do after?"
Seeing him agree, Hermione straightened. "We'll go back to the moment we all met," she explained swiftly. "That's the basis for the spell - the three of us and...and when our connection began. And once we're there, we will make things...better."
"Better?" Harry asked, thinking of Sirius. Of Lupin and Tonks and Fred and Dumbledore and all the others they had lost.
"Better," Ron echoed, steely and confident.
"You're going to be okay, Harry," Hermione told him, as if anything less was unacceptable. "We'll find a way to keep you whole and neutralise Voldemort. We know all of the steps, we know what to avoid. We have years."
Years. Fuck, ten minutes ago Harry thought he had weeks before he lost his fight to the hunger.

Jily x reader angst idea
okay, so what if James is an Auror and so are you (or maybe its a muggle AU and you and Lily are coworkers or something) and you start to get close to both Lily and James. You of course develop feelings for them and James and Lily both have a separate freak out because they realize that they also like you, and how can that be when they've been together for a few years and are so happy together? They don't want to ruin their relationship, so they talk and realize they feel the same and the only thing stopping them is getting the courage to tell you. Eventually after you avoid them for a little while they come clean and you let them know that you're in love with them too and you all start dating. Everything is going really really well and you've never felt this strongly about anyone before. and then James proposes- but only to Lily. which is truly fine because you've only collectively been dating each other for a year at this point and that's a little soon. You're so happy for them, and then when they start to plan the wedding you notice that they're starting to pull away. Date nights almost disappear, you're staying at your house more and more, but everything is still fine because you know that they love you and you love them. Lily asks you to be in the wedding party but at the last minute decided that you would just have a front row seat because there was a conflict and now she HAS to have her sister in the wedding, even though petunia hates her and doesn't want anything to do with her or magic or her freakish relationship. of course you understand and are just happy that you get to see the people you're so in love with so in love with each other. fast forward to the honeymoon and while James and Lily asked you to come with the only time they can go is when you have work. and really you didn't just get married they did, so they should go by themselves and you can all go on vacation or something next year. its fine, everything is fine. you agree to water plants and watch the apartment. you had all three gotten a cat a few months before the wedding and it would feel wrong to leave her alone for so long anyway.
so you're staying at their apartment (you still have your own apartment closer to work) and the silence and the distance starts to get to you. you can't help but think that they don't need you or want you here, that you don't belong. you don't even live with them yet, and they just got married, everything is going to change and its not fair of you to stay and put any strain on the new dynamic in their relationship. so you spiral and start to pack up all of the things that you've left at their apartment in the last year and bring it back to your place. you pack up everything that they had left at your place, or touched or complimented you on while they were over and either threw it away or brought it back to their apartment to leave for them. you let Sirius know that you weren't feeling well and asked if he would come watch the cat and the plants for you because you didn't want lily and James getting sick from you when they came back at the end of the week. he agreed of course. you left the box of their things on their kitchen counter, a photo strip- the first pictures the three of you had ever taken together- resting on the top of the box, mocking you with your past smiling faces. Sirius would snoop of course but he would assume you were moving in or it was a present or whatever excuse he came up with for himself, you didn't really care. you just needed to leave. You're back at your apartment, trying to find the will to shower or eat or move. isolating from all of your friends because most of them were friends with James and lily first and you can't face them.
meanwhile James and lily are on their honeymoon having a blast, they're keeping a list of places they've been to and want to show you eventually, they're taking a million pictures and they texted you a few times but there's a time difference and they haven't heard back from you yet.they aren't worried though because they'll see you at the end of the week. suddenly the end of the week seems too far away though and they decide to cut the trip short by a day or two. so they head back.
something at their apartment feels off but they can't tell what and before they can investigate Sirius walks in and lets them know that you're sick and don't want any visitors. of course that can't mean them because they love you and you all three take care of each other when you're sick. Sirius leaves and they go to put their suitcases away when they see the box you left on the counter. Isn't that just so sweet of you? you left them a welcome home present, because you're the sweetest and always think of things like that. except oh. OH. it's not a welcome home present at all. why is all of their stuff that was left at your place in a box in their kitchen, and where is all of the stuff that you left here? where is your sweater that has been thrown over the back of the couch for a month. where is the candle you light every time that you watch a movie with them? and why is their extra apartment key hanging on a hook by the door. none of it makes any sense. unless. but that can't be. sure you might have been sad that you couldn't go with them but you told them to go, you said it was fine. you all love each other so this is some misunderstanding, except...maybe you don't love them anymore. oh god its getting hard to breathe and neither of them can think straight all they want is to see you but maybe a few days distance will do you all some god, maybe it'll work itself out. or they can figure out how to talk to you about it at least. They aren't supposed to be home for two days anyway, they can wait two more days to sort everything out.
so they wait. they unpack and sleep and eat and cry into each others arms. they think of how they can fix something that they didn't even know was broken. then the two days are over and theyre standing in front of you door and their hands are shaking and they feel like they can't breathe right and they need you to know how much they love you and please don't leave them. they wait forever for you to open the door after they find the courage to knock and the sight that awaits them isn't good. your eyes are sunken in, your hair lifeless and greasy, you're in food stained pajamas and its 4 o'clock in the afternoon. and you slam the door in their face. you can't see them yet, it hurts too much, you weren't prepared. the door opens a few seconds later but its long enough for you to have collapsed to the floor in a sobbing heap. James wraps his arms around you and rocks you back and forth, lily makes for the kitchen to fetch some tea. when you've calmed down they ask to talk and you lead them to the living room. you sit in the singular chair you have. let them take the couch, you can't sit by either of them right now, even looking at them hurts too much. They sit next to each other, matching tans and shining wedding bands on their fingers as James takes Lily's hand in his and rests it on her thigh. Eventually the silence was broken and they tried to explain everything to you. they wrote a list of things to do with you on the next vacation, they were so sorry that petunia got in the way, they know they were busy with the wedding but they didn't forget about you. they thought about you constantly. they loved you more than life itself and they didn't want you to think otherwise. you explained how they pulled away, how you didn't feel seen or needed or loved. how you felt like the dynamic shift would only push you further out and how you couldn't stay and watch it happen so you left. it was like they could finally see how all of the missed dates and private conversations between the two in the last few months had hurt you. it hurt to talk about but it felt like you could breath easier after talking to them again.
you all agreed to communicate better. to set aside time for all three of you. to never let it get this bad again. and when you all committed yourselves to each other in a ceremony later that year, you included those promises in your vows.

Jily one-shot: That Time of the Month
Summary: Lily isn't feeling well while attempting to finish her Head Girl duties. Luckily James is there to help.
For @jilymicrofics prompt 'flush'
words: 2600+
genre: fluff (with a bit of physical hurt/comfort)
rated: G
@athenasparrow you seemed curious about this one!
AO3
...
“Evans.” James raised his gaze from the detention slips he was trying to go through, sitting at a desk in the Heads’ Office. “I know you take great pride in finishing your work when you’re supposed to, rather than doing things the Sirius way - such as, doing your homework 5 minutes before the class - but you look like you’ve been hit by several powerful Bat-Bogey Hexes in a row. Are you OK?”
“I'd be better if you didn’t interrupt me, Potter,” Lily snapped. James gave her a disbelieving look and she huffed in response. “I’m doing just fine, I just really need to have this done before the meeting…”
James got up from his chair and stopped next to her, covering the piece of parchment she had been reading with his hand. “You’re a really bad liar, you know.  C’mon, you can tell me if something is wrong.”
Lily muttered something incoherent that James couldn’t understand.
“Pardon?” He raised his eyebrow.
“I’m. on. my. period. right now. There. Are you happy?” she growled, her cheeks and ears getting some extra color.
“Oh.” James wasn’t sure what he was supposed to answer to that. He knew that periods were a perfectly normal thing but the girls he knew rarely talked about them, at least near him, unless they absolutely had to, for example if it was hindering their flying during Quidditch practices. “I’m… sorry?”
“Well, don’t be. Now, will you finally let me do my work?” She gave him a gloomy look and attempted to steal the piece of parchment back from him.
Something about Lily’s demeanor finally gave James his tongue back. “No.”
“Excuse me?”
James took a step closer to her. “Lily, as your fellow Head Student I don’t want you to force yourself to work when you could and should be taking care of yourself. I can handle this.”
“You’re not going to give up, are you?” Lily glared up at him but her voice had lost a lot of its earlier sharpness.
“Afraid not. Not without a fight, at least.” James grinned, pretending to draw his wand from his pocket. Lily’s shoulders hunched and she hid her face into her hands.
“Fine,” she mumbled against the palms of her hands. “If you let me finish our patrol schedule now, I promise to be a good girl and take a nap after that.”
“Alright.” James agreed, choosing to take that as a win, and turned his attention back to the detention slips. He only had time to read through a couple of them before Lily muttered to herself: “No, this can’t be right.”
“What can’t?” he inquired, and Lily’s expression told him she hadn’t realized she was speaking aloud.
“I accidentally put Fawley on a patrol twice in the same week. And Price, I forgot she can’t patrol with Lovegood; they just had this big fight a couple of weeks ago and haven’t spoken to each other since then. And looks like Crouch is missing from here altogether…”
“Okay, Evans,” James clapped his hands together. “I believe it’s time for an intervention. I’m going to take this,” he pulled the schedule from Lily’s hands, “and I’m going to use a neat little charm the boys and I came up with when we were… uh, inventing something. It should help me put all the names in order with a single tap of my wand. I just need a list of who can and can’t patrol together.”
Lily sighed and handed him a list she usually kept hidden in a locked drawer. The new Head Students had quickly noticed in the beginning of the semester that it was quite necessary; the Prefects could be a rather dramatic group of people when they wanted to.
“I haven’t written it down yet but the other day I heard that McGriffiths and Gudgeon are dating now… so unless we want to keep checking if they’re snogging in a broom closet instead of patrolling… Ugh, bloody hell, literally!”
James was confused by Lily’s last exclamation until he turned his eyes from the list back to her. She was wincing, her hand on her lower abdomen and her eyes closed. James hated seeing her in pain and wished there was something more he could do to help.
“I’ll make sure that McGriffiths and Gudgeon won’t be patrolling together, then,” he said briskly. “But now, you go lay down on that couch; everything is under control here.” He basically pushed Lily up from her chair and off to the couch before she could even protest much. Producing a blanket with a wave of his wand, he waited until Lily had settled down and draped it over her.
“Thanks, James,” she muttered from under the blanket. James’ heart skipped a beat when she mentioned his first name.
“Any time,” he nearly stuttered, before returning back to his desk.
James quickly finished up the patrol schedule and organized the rest of the detention slips before standing up and approaching Lily again.
“I’m going to get something to eat from the kitchens. Do you need anything?”
Lily seemed slightly taken aback by his question. “I don’t…” She winced again. “Actually… some hot tea and maybe some fruit would be nice… And…” she hesitated for one moment, “if it isn’t too much to ask… Madam Pomfrey has a potion for the cramps so if you’re able to stop by the Hospital Wing…”
“Of course I can!” James exclaimed instantly. ”You could have asked earlier instead of just squirming around!”
”Sorry that I had other things in my mind!” Lily said, annoyed. “It’s not always this bad… I don’t understand what’s with it this month…”
James softened again, understanding that she wasn’t really annoyed at him but the pain and possibly the hormones made her a bit snappier than usual.
“Okay.” He put a hand on her shoulder. “Worry not, I’ll get you your potion. Can’t have my Head Girl suffering while we could be… working hard to make sure we’ll have a very productive Prefects’ meeting in a few hours. You get some rest now.”
“Alright. Thanks. Go get your dinner, Potter,” Lily mumbled, pulling the blanket higher up her body.
It took James less than 30 minutes to gather all the things he had planned to gather. His first stop was in the kitchens and when he explained his situation to the elves (mentioning that someone who’s important to him is not feeling well so he wanted to surprise her with a meal), he got an entire basket of food from them. It had some tea, pumpkin juice, fruits and sandwiches in it but the elves had also snuck in a chocolate bar, a piece of cake and Lily’s favorite pie. James left the kitchens thanking the elves over and over again and promising to do something for them in return.
Madam Pomfrey was happily surprised when James asked her if she could put some potion for cramps into the vial he had brought with him. His face heated up when she asked him if the potion was for his girlfriend.
“N-no! Not a girlfriend! She’s just a… friend. Who happens to be a girl, yes. I just offered to get her the potion because I was on my way to pick something from the ki…” he remembered he wasn’t really supposed to know how to get into the kitchens, “um, the Great Hall anyway.”
“Oh, alright,” Madam Pomfrey nodded. “Well, regardless, I think you’re doing a nice thing for her.”
She handed him the potion and also a hot water bottle and he left, feeling rather warm and hoping he could go out for a fly to organize his thoughts but remembering that he still needed to complete his task.
Before he managed to return to the Head’s Office, however, Sirius’ voice spoke via a tiny mirror hidden in his pocket:
“Prongs! Where are you?”
He put the basket he was carrying down, fishing the mirror from his pocket, and soon he was staring at his best friend’s face in it.
“I was in the kitchens… and the hospital wing. Why do you ask?”
“Why were you in the hospital wing?” Sirius kept pressing, ignoring his question. “Did a bludger hit you again or something?”
James wasn’t about to reveal what he had really been doing there because he knew Sirius would tease him mercilessly. He said vaguely: “Something like that, yeah”.
“I didn’t know you had a Quidditch practice today.” Sirius raised his eyebrow. “Actually, I saw McKinnon a little while ago and she didn’t look like she had been flying recently.”
“How do you know that?” James questioned.
“Because she was quite busy snogging D… Never mind that. This isn’t about her, this is about you. You weren’t actually hit by a bludger, were you?”
“Why are you such a scent hound today?” James countered.
“Because you’re acting weird and as your best friend it’s my duty to find out why,” Sirius stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Anyway, I just wanted to ask you if the map is in the dormitory? Pete thinks Mulciber and his lovely gang are up to something again and Regulus might also be involved somehow… I wanted to check if there’s any truth to that statement.”
“Yeah, it’s there in my bag…” James replied, feeling weirdly uninterested in Mulciber’s plans, his thoughts still in the girl in the Head’s Office.
“Alright, thanks.” James could see Sirius starting to walk towards the boys’ dorm. “Hey, Prongs?” A smirk spread on his face, making James feel rather suspicious.
“Yeah?”
“You were actually with Evans, weren’t you?”
James rolled his eyes. “What if I was? Of course I have to spend time with her because we are the Head Students. I’m working with her.”
“I bet you guys were working real hard, alright,” Sirius snorted.
“I’m pretending I didn’t hear that,” James remarked. “Besides, I wasn’t lying about the kitchens and the hospital wing. Here’s the proof.” He showed the basket he had gotten from the elves to Sirius’ mirror image.
“Oooh, now I get it. You were getting some food for a romantic date… and probably some contraceptive potion from Poppy…” Sirius’ grin only widened.
James’ face felt so hot he imagined he would have been able to cook eggs on it. “Get your mind out of your gutter, Padfoot. If you really must know, she wasn’t feeling too well while we were finishing some of our paperwork so I volunteered to help the girl out and get her some potion for the pain. That’s all.” He was happy he didn’t have to lie about that part.
“Alright, lover boy,” Sirius lifted his free hand in the air as a peace sign. “Well, you go continue your meeting with Evans, I have some Slytherin stalking to do.”
“Right. See ya.”
James put the mirror away and ran his hand through his hair. He could only hope that he wasn’t as obvious with his feelings as Sirius made it sound. Lily and he had only been friends for a couple of months and he most definitely didn’t want to ruin it by revealing that by the way, those feelings he had had during their 5th year had not gone anywhere; as a matter of fact they had only gotten stronger and more genuine as he had learned to know her better. James from the past few months had learned that there was much more to the mystery that was Lily Evans than he had ever realized, but that only made him more intrigued.
He couldn’t remain in his thoughts for long, though, because the girl in question was still waiting for the potion. Using some of the little known passages he and his friends had discovered during their nightly expeditions he made it back to the Head’s Office much faster than he would want to admit aloud.
When James entered the office, he found Lily up and trying to write a report for Dumbledore. She got some color on her cheeks when she realized he had caught her disobeying his orders to rest.
James folded his arms after he placed the basket on the desk. Before Lily had time to defend herself, he said: “Looks like someone is as bad at following orders as I am.”
“Yeah. Sorry.” She attempted to give him an innocent smile. James wanted to stay annoyed with her a little longer, but he couldn’t.
“Lily, sometimes it’s OK to let other people help you. There’s two of us for a reason. So that one can step in if needed. You’d probably do the same for me, right? ‘Cause we’re a team.”
“Right. Yeah, I probably would,” she admitted.
“Well, now that that’s been clarified, I brought you some things.”
He emptied the desk from the parchment, throwing them into a drawer before handing Lily the potion. She didn’t chuck it down instantly, though.
“You’ve been so nice to me today. I have to be honest… I imagined you would be one of those guys who get squeamish at the simple mention of periods.”
James frowned. “Why would I be like that? There are girls in our Quidditch team; they always let me know when they’re not feeling like flying. Besides, we Quidditch players are pretty familiar with pain and blood for a variety of reasons, so…” he shrugged.
“Right,” Lily replied and drank her potion with a grimace. It seemed to have an effect pretty fast; the relief on her face was visible within moments.
“That’s better,” she sighed. “So, do you have food for us?”
“I do,” James grinned in response and started spreading the contents of the best onto the desk. Lily’s mouth opened when she figured he had brought her a full on picnic. Fruits, sandwiches, treacle tart, chocolate, ham pie…
“James…” Lily looked at him with wide eyes. “This is too much…”
“Nah. I don’t think so. You’re always prioritizing other people’s needs. I think it’s time you get something nice done in return. Besides… I’m not planning to let you eat all of this on your own,” he winked, grabbing a sandwich from a plate and stuffing it into his mouth with great gusto.
Lily threw him an odd look he didn’t quite know how to interpret. Then she took a chocolate bar from the desk and made a contented little sigh as she took a bite from it.
“We gotta make sure there will be a Hogsmeade weekend soon… My Honeydukes chocolate stock is stupidly empty.”
“Oh Evans,” James clicked his tongue disapprovingly. “If you ever need chocolate, just say the word and it’s yours.”
“What? But… we can’t just march to Hogsmeade whenever…?”
“Trust me, we Marauders have our ways.”
“Right. Of course you do,” she snorted. “More seriously speaking, though - and don’t make any Sirius jokes now…” (James put a hand on his chest in mock offense.) “Thanks, James. I’m lucky to have a co-Head like you.”
James smiled softly at her. “I could say the same to you.”
Just like that, the atmosphere in the room changed. For a moment James and Lily just kept staring at each other, not quite sure how to progress from there. James’ eyes traitorously flickered towards Lily’s lips, and when she instinctively moved a little closer, her hand reaching his, he found himself mimicking her movements. But just when their fingers intertwined, his eyes asking her a silent question, a Prefect from Hufflepuff popped in to ask something about their upcoming meeting. The moment between James and Lily was broken, but he still squeezed her hand once more.
“Are you feeling better now?”
Lily smiled at him, her face adorably flushed. “Yes. Much better.”
A/N: Please let me know what you think!! (Ps. yes, I guess I'm a bit mean, not letting them kiss, ahah)

AUTISM ACCEPTANCE
Prompt day 4: April 4
Airport/Travel AU
Word count: 1000
@wolfstarmicrofic
“No, no you don't understand!” Sirius said, trying his hardest not to yell. “My first flight had a delayed take off, but I still arrived here in time. The planes have not even left yet! It’s right there! I don’t understand why you won't let me board. I have my boarding pass and I don’t have any luggage except my carry-on and my backpack.”
“Sir, I’m sorry but policy states that you have to be here and board with the rest of your class. You showed up after we closed the door.”
“So open it! Please, please.” Sirius begged
“I'm sorry sir. I’ll have security escort you to the front desk and you can talk to them about refunding your ticket.”
“No!” Sirius snapped when a hand gripped his bicep and gave him a small tug.
“Come on pal.” The security officer said and Sirius’ shoulders slumped and he followed security away from the gate.
Sirius couldn’t believe he missed his flight, he needed that flight. He might miss his brother's wedding.
Sirius felt like everything was falling apart and it had started two weeks ago when his brother called and said he was eloping but wanted Sirius there but when Sirius tried to book the flights, there was none to be had.
Sirius felt like he couldn’t breath, his chest felt heavy and all the sounds were muffled like he was underwater. His heart beat so loudly he swore he could feel it pulsating in his ears.
“Aye, mate. You okay?” The security officer asked Sirius as he guided him to sit down.
Sirius started crying, explaining through broken sobs everything that had happened over the last two weeks, just one thing after another.
“Where do you need to go?” he asked in a tone Sirius could only assume was curious.
“Hockwold Hall,” Sirius said, “I was supposed to get that flight from here to Stansted and then get a cab.”
“Oh, what an odd coincidence. That’s actually my hometown. I can just take you there.” The man said with a shrug like it was not that big of a deal.
Sirius looked over at the man in surprise. No one was that kind and to take a stranger in your own vehicle was just proof this guy was naive. For all the other man knew, Sirius could be an axe murderer or something. But he seemed nice enough. His eyes were a soft golden brown and his hair was, wow. Sirius was pretty sure a bird was nesting in that mess of brown curls but he was far too polite to say so.
“Look, I get off in an hour and then we’ll head that way. ‘Ight?” The man asked.
Sirius nodded.
“Great! I’m Remus by the way,” the officer said, rising back to his feet. Sirius realised then how tall Remus was. He towered over his five foot six frame.
“Sirius,” he mumbled.
“Cool. See you, soon starman!” Remus called back to him as he left Sirius sitting on the floor near the security office.
A little over an hour later saw Sirius placing his carry-on into the boot of a beat up old Skoda that Sirius was pretty sure would break down on the side of the road within minutes. Sirius had no idea how it passed its MOT. Sirius sat into the passenger seat and began to question himself. Maybe Sirius was in fact the naive one and Remus was the axe murderer. Remus sat down into the driver's seat and turned the key in the ignition before pulling out onto the road. Sirius prayed silently that he wouldn’t die.
What should have been a four hour drive was taking nearly twice as long. Sirius’ leg bounced and his hands wrung the hem of his shirt. His nervousness and stress wasn’t aided by the fact that there was nothing to distract him.
Remus played no music on the radio, saying it distracted him. He knew the drive so well that he lowered his speed limiter nearly a half a mile before each change and raised it only after the end speed limit sign. When Sirius asked why, Remus explained that it allowed for a gradual decrease in speed and thus a smoother drive instead of having to react and suddenly use the braking system. He held the steering wheel with both hands exactly at ten and two and used his signals religiously.
He didn't speak unless Sirius asked him a question which Remus answered so formally and almost like a professor. So Sirius took to pestering Remus with any question he could think of to keep some form of conversation going, and in sick pleasure to see if he could crack Remus and make him loosen up. But Sirius could tell Remus didn't mind because he would often smile or snort before answering and a few times Sirius made him laugh.
When Remus drove into the grassy parking area of the hall and turned off the engine he finally grinned. “Made it safely. Great job girl” Remus said, petting the dashboard of his vehicle like it was a wild beast.
Sirius let out a surprised chuckle. “Thank you for the ride,” Sirius said softly. “I know this was well out of your way.”
“Nah. My parents live literally across the street. I plan to just surprise them and stop by for a few days. Do you know where you're going from here?”
Sirius shook his head no.
“Well no use making you suffer, come on” he said, opening his door and starting for the entrance. “They will likely be round the back using the gardens for the ceremony and the back building for the reception.” Remus explained as Sirius practically ran to catch up.
Remus directed Sirius through the reception rooms to the back entrance and pointed to the small set up out back. “There you have it.”
Sirius bit his lip and then whispered, “would you like to stay, as my date?”
Remus grinned.

Sirius had been right, after Christmas the days went faster than ever with the first of April arriving so quickly the day itself felt like its own joke. Still he tried to keep positive even if the crippling workload, Auror exam prep and maintaining school students' safety meant he was busy all the time. Then again busyness came with its own perks seeing as even though he’d decided he couldn’t do anything about Regulus it didn’t stop him worrying. He tried not to think about it too much but it was hard not to. Especially since whenever he saw him the boy looked on edge and depressed. With every glimpse Sirius felt a crashing wave of guilt course through him even if he reasoned that seeing him was good. It meant he was still here; they hadn’t got him yet and that was something. It meant even from afar Sirius could still keep an eye on him. He’d even reasoned that come the end of term Regulus might cave and take his brother up on his offer to flee that wretched house, not that he was holding out hope.
For now he was helping those that wanted to be helped. Even without it being the right thing to do it helped him learn, preparing him further for the Auror’s exam which was fortunate, seeing as he’d never been one for public service whilst at school like his prefect friends. Not to mention it felt good to be going into a career where he would be making a difference or at least it would be if he could pass his test.
Early last week McGonagall had pulled him, James and Alice aside to inform them of the set up for their exam date. They’d each be seen in one-hour intervals with the exam involving a half hour written test and the rest doing practical magic with the examiner. Since he’d revised everything Frank had told him to as well as some other topics just in case Sirius wasn’t too worried though he wasn’t awfully fond of being first for the chopping block thanks to his good old family name putting him ahead alphabetically.
Still the sting of alphabetical order was taken away by the fact it meant Daisy could join him, her free period coinciding with his time slot. They were standing outside the classroom he’d been instructed to go to, ten minutes early at her insistence. He was leaning against the cold stone wall, watching her as she tried to think of another test question to fire at him.
‘Okay, tell me the signs of a confusion hex,’ she said, her nervous shifting stalling as she looked at him pointedly and awaited an answer. Sirius fought a smile and the urge to tell her she looked just like Lily when rattling off exam questions. If he was smart enough to sit the exam he was smart enough to know when to keep his mouth shut when it came to Evans women. ‘Disorientation, misuse of correct words and phrases, changes in mood,’ Sirius said with a yawn that made Daisy frown though she pressed on with her interrogation. ‘And how is that different from being under the imperius curse?’ Daisy asked, grimacing as his hands skimmed her sides, pulling her closer so that they were inches apart, only stopped as she placed her hands on his chest to keep him at bay. ‘Aren’t you supposed to be doing your application for the St Mungo’s program?’ Sirius asked, leaning in so that their heads were dangerously close. ‘It’ll wait for now,’ Daisy said, resisting the urge to kiss him. She needed, they needed, to focus even though it was hard to do as he smirked and said in a sultry voice, ‘Dais.’ ‘It’ll wait,’ Daisy said, pulling back as she tried to keep her composure, ‘now come on.’ ‘Oh I can’t think anymore,’ Sirius whinged, his brain hurting with all they’d tried to cram in since breakfast. ‘But-’she protested but he waved her off. ‘If I don’t know it now I never will,’ Sirius said. Daisy frowned. She understood that she was going overboard and she had no doubt that all her friends were good enough to get onto the course but she wanted to make sure it was because of their own merit. That they had done everything they could to ensure their future instead of resting on their connections and greased wheels.
‘Don’t you believe I can do it?’ Sirius asked. ‘Of course I do! With your eyes closed but I just want to make sure,’ Daisy said hurriedly, shoving him as she realised that he was teasing her though that only made him pull her closer, his arms ensnaring her against him as their chuckling died down. They were quiet for a second, just enjoying the moment. Daisy fiddled with his collar, straightening the crease in it as she asked, ‘nervous?’ ‘A bit,’ Sirius admitted, his thumb making circles against her school jumper, ‘but I’m sure it’ll be fine.’ ‘You’ll be great,’ she reassured. ‘And if not you can always cheer me up,’ he said, whisking her around until she was pinned against the wall. ‘Sirius!’ she squealed as he leaned in, their noses touching one another. ‘There’s no one around,’ he murmured before his lips brushed against hers. Daisy pushed him back and exclaimed, ‘so!’ ‘Spoil sport,’ he smirked. ‘Yeah well,’ Daisy started but she shut up quickly as the old wooden door to the classroom creaked open bringing with it a short, balding wizard dressed in a three-piece midnight blue suit. He looked just as startled as they were to see the pair of them fraternising in the middle of the corridor but he recovered quickly as did Daisy pushing Sirius away and straightening herself up.
‘Mr Black?’ the examiner asked, looking between them. ‘That’s me,’ Sirius said, adjusting his own robes before he offered a hand out to the examiner as if the manners and etiquette that had been hammered into him since birth had only just managed to surface above the hormones and revision he had stuffed into his brain in the past three months. ‘Elias Foggerty,’ the examiner said, taking his outstretched hand and shaking it politely before his gaze went to Daisy as he asked, ‘are you also to be examined?’ ‘Oh, uh no I was just going,’ Daisy said, a pink tinge still on her cheeks which deepened as she looked at Sirius who was smirking, ‘good luck.’
And without letting him reply she scurried down the corridor and headed to the library ready to start her St Mungo’s application.
✵✵✵
Fortunately the exam went off without a hitch not just for Sirius but for James and Alice too. They’d all managed to complete the written exam in its entirety and the examiner had been understanding and courteous which had meant they’d been at ease when performing the practical side of the test. It had even been good for Daisy too as her nervous energy throughout the entirety of Sirius’ exam had forced her to focus on her St Mungo’s application which she had fortunately heard back about a week later informing her that her place was confirmed just reliant on her grades being on par with the requirements. And seeing as she was one of the first to hear - some of her friend’s chosen career paths leaving them in limbo - it meant she had some spare time on her hands which she had opted to spend thinking about the end of year prank.
Many ideas had been floated around her but none had captured her heart as of yet and since she and Sirius had final say she was holding out for something good. It was what she was dwelling on this morning, a disappointingly grisly day in mid-May where the light streaming in from the high windows of the great hall was simultaneously bright and dull. She was lost in her thoughts stirring her cup of tea absentmindedly as the boys chatted around her. To her other side Alice and Marlene were talking quietly and Lily was sitting across from her but not participating in any conversation as she scribbled furiously on a piece of parchment. No one bothered to ask what it was knowing it was better not to as it wasn’t liable to be a late piece of work and rather something extra she had assigned to herself as though her work load wasn’t staggering already.
‘I figured as long as we score at least forty before we get the snitch that’ll be enough to make sure we get the cup,’ James said with a mouthful of toast. ‘Yeah but Ravenclaw don’t need that much so we’re going to have to make sure they don’t score more than twenty,’ Sirius reasoned, through a mouthful of bacon. Normally he wouldn't be one to forgo manners but when it came to quidditch he was willing to let it slide. He hadn’t realised just how much he’d missed being part of the team last season and even though his life had been slightly hectic with the transition into seventh year he’d been happy that he’d managed to get back on the squad. And seeing as it was his last chance to play alongside James in an official capacity he wasn't going to miss a moment of it, even if that meant talking with his mouth full. ‘True but I reckon if you and Rufus stay up our end of the field it’s extra help for Simon not to mention you can block anyone from getting close at scoring,’ James said. He was tempted to draw a diagram, coordinating the state of play but he didn’t have time as the morning post started to arrive, his grand tawny owl landing beside him, standing on Lily’s parchment as it graciously dropped a letter in front of him. James gave her a polite stroke before she flew off leaving the thick envelope behind.
‘What is it?’ Sirius asked, turning his head to read the front of the envelope. ‘Mr James Potter’ was scribed neatly on the front but that wasn’t what caught his eye. It was the bright red stamp in the corner that got his attention, the words AUROR’S OFFICE, emblazoned on his brain. ‘Is that?’ Daisy asked, the arrival of the owl enough to snap her from her daydreaming. ‘Looks like,’ Remus said, spying the letter over James’ shoulder. James looked stricken, paling as he turned it around so that he could open it. All eyes fell on him at once, Lily’s work pushed aside as she said encouragingly, ‘Well it’s thick. That’s a good sign.’ James nodded and peeled the envelope open, pulling out the stack of papers that were inside and unfurling them so he could read. Everyone watched as his eyes scanned the page digesting every word until he looked up, looking too stunned to get his words out.
‘Well?’ Peter asked eagerly. ‘I got in,’ he said surprisingly quietly, ‘I’m gonna be an auror.’ ‘Oh I knew you would! Congratulations,!’ Lily squealed pulling him in for a hug though he still looked as though he was going through the motions rather than fully embracing it. A flurry of congratulations came from the group before all eyes turned to Alice who was skimming through her own letter which had arrived not a moment later but had been lost in all the hubbub. ‘Al?’ Daisy asked, receiving a beaming smile from the mousy haired girl as she said, ‘me too! I got in!’ ‘That’s brilliant!’ Daisy congratulated as did everyone else before she rushed off to write a letter to Frank. Yet as the happiness faded all eyes turned to Sirius who had a pleasant smile on his face but a distinct worry in his gut at his lack of letter. Daisy felt her own nerves bubble which he clocked immediately, squeezing her thigh reassuringly as he said, ‘it’s fine.’ ‘It’ll probably come later,’ James said with determination, ‘you know what the post can be like.’ ‘Yeah,’ Sirius nodded, though he wasn’t convinced.
No one seemed to know how to navigate the conversation around this awkward sticking point as they could see James now practically vibrating with excitement but holding back on account of Sirius’ feelings. Sirius was just about to tell him to carry on and have a look at what they’d sent him when he felt a tap on his shoulder forcing him to turn around. Standing behind him was Regulus.
He looked terrible, as he had done since Christmas, with perpetual purple rings under his eyes that made his high cheekbones look razor sharp and his face thinner. His hair was brushed but not styled and his uniform practically hung off his frame instead of fitting him perfectly like his mother would have had it tailored to be.
‘Regulus,’ was all Sirius could think to say, the surprise of him being within speaking distance nearly a year after they last communicated taking away all his logic. Regulus didn’t offer any pleasantries and instead pulled a thick envelope from his robes offering it out to Sirius as he said, ‘this came to me. It just said Mr Black…I didn’t realise.’ ‘It’s alright,’ Sirius said, taking the bulky letter from his brother. ‘Congratulations,’ Regulus said, the ghost of a smile on his lips. ‘Thanks,’ Sirius said, offering one of his own. At that Regulus shifted uncomfortably offering a curt nod before he strutted from the room.
All eyes were on him as he turned around, a mix of emotions inside him. James didn’t seem to be willing to let him dwell on any of the complex feelings he had for his sibling, gesturing for him to open the letter properly. Sirius slid his finger on the partially stuck flap of the envelope, peeling it back open and slipping the letter out. He read through it carefully with Daisy reading over his shoulder.

Warmest Regards,
Elias Foggerty Head Auror
‘I did it,’ he said, looking up at his friends with a smile, ‘I got in.’ ‘Congratulations!’ came a round of replies as Daisy slipped her arm around him and nestled into him for a moment before she pulled back and said, ‘well you know what that means.’ ‘What?’ Sirius asked. ‘Pads my friend,’ James said, capturing their attention, ‘it’s time for a celebration.'
✵✵✵
Given there was a frantic, frazzled air amongst the students of Hogwarts the group decided it was probably better to keep their celebration low key and used the opportunity to have a sleepover in the boys dormitory. After acquiring a boatload of food and drinks from the kitchens they headed to the lads’ room which had been transformed into an ideal sleepover suite. Granted Alice and Marlene would be retiring to their own dormitory at the end of the night but nevertheless they took a seat on the sea of blankets and pillows crammed into the middle of the boys’ four posters. The food was laid out atop James’ trunk from which he’d procured a bottle of fire whiskey he’d pilfered from his father’s liquor cabinet and a mini fire was conjured to give it a campfire feel.
Chancing upon everyone’s good mood Peter even managed to talk them into a game of exploding snap for old times’ sake until eating took precedence. And once their bellies were full they just ended up chatting and drinking, reminiscing about their past seven years in the castle. Considering they were such an integral part of each other’s lives now Daisy couldn’t remember a time before this friendship but as the boys regaled tales of mischief from the first few years of their school career she realised just how short a time it really had been. And yet she wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
In fact she was feeling quite sentimental about the whole thing which is probably why she peeled herself from Sirius and knelt up, all eyes falling on her as she looked down at them, wobbling slightly as she said, ‘ahem.’ ‘Ooh are we going to get a speech?’ Peter asked with a chuckle. ‘Or a song,’ James grinned. ‘Or a strip tease,’ Sirius said, his hand snaking around her thigh which made her topple over with a giggle though she recovered, her glass never spilling. Sirius smirked, ‘speech it is apparently.’ ‘I just wanted to say congratulations,’ Daisy said matter of factly as she raised her glass, ‘to James, Sirius and Alice on becoming the future safety of the wizarding world.’ ‘Our glorious protectors,’ Marlene chuckled, raising her glass. ‘Our glorious protectors,’ came the round of replies before everyone took a drink. ‘Who’d have thought it eh?’ Remus teased. ‘Oi, I’ll have you know I’d protect every last one of you with my life,’ James said, flinging a fruit pastille at the older boy though he managed to catch it, tossing it into his mouth with a grin. ‘Well you don’t have to yet thank god,’ Lily said. ‘Not for another eight weeks at least,’ Sirius added. ‘Is that how long we have left?’ Alice groaned, taking a sorrowful bite out of a liquorice wand and resting her head against Marlene’s shoulder. ‘Don’t remind us,’ James grumbled. ‘Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Prongsy boy,’ Sirius said with a chuckle. ‘Eight weeks and I’ve still not heard back from any jobs yet,’ Peter said glumly. ‘Maybe you can have one of the cast offs from Lily’s many, many, many job offers,’ Daisy giggled. ‘It was only four,’ Lily said, rolling her eyes. ‘Four!’ Peter gawped, making Lily go bright red. ‘Well it’s not like I wanted them, I just applied just in case I didn’t get the one I wanted,’ Lily said though that didn’t make Peter, who had been applying for countless ministry positions and had yet to hear back, any better. ‘Yeah they were too low on her totem pole eh Lil?’ Daisy ribbed, earning her own fruit pastille to the head. ‘Too right my girl deserves only the best,’ James beamed, making Lily blush harder, ‘she’ll be the head of the department for international magical cooperation in no time.’ ‘It’s just an internship!’ Lily protested though James wasn’t deterred, far too proud to care for details. ‘Better than the transport office eh Pete?’ Sirius teased. ‘Oh shut up,’ Peter said, feeling a little put out though Remus came to his rescue as he offered a sizable sigh.
‘At least you lot can keep a job. I can't wait for the first full moon when they give me the sack,’ he said glumly, causing a subdued air to fall over them thinking about his future. Obviously with the way the wizarding world was at the moment no one’s future was certain, their destinies yet to be laid out before them, and yet each one of them knew theirs was more defined than Remus’. Sure he’d secured a job as a research assistant at a large magical library in London but all of them knew that taking a few days off every single month wouldn’t cut it not without explanation, and even that would require a lot of understanding. Still James and Sirius had been determined not to let him fret over it, each concern he produced countered with unfathomable positivity and alternative plans like they offered now. ‘Maybe not,’ Sirius countered, ‘I mean how punctual do you have to be to be a librarian?’ ‘Yeah I hardly ever see Pince knocking around,’ James agreed, ‘sometimes the stack of books to put back is the size of one of the towers.’ ‘It’s more than putting a few books back,’ Remus said dolefully. ‘Well if you’re stuck I’m sure dad could put a word in-’ James started earning himself a stern look from Lily who said, ‘let’s not.’
That had been a debate and a half. In the way that James and Sirius had never quite understood what not being a pureblood could mean they also had enormous wealth behind them which meant that even without a job they’d be fine. James hadn't really seen the issue with helping out a friend, offering Fleamont’s services more than once which had not gone down too well with Remus who despite his struggles still wanted to do things on his own merit. Daisy and Lily had had to intercept more than once as they were now, Daisy continuing her sister’s rhetoric as she said, ‘Lil’s right. All this talk of the future is depressing. Can we talk about something else?’ ‘You’re right,’ Peter agreed, though she didn’t know if it was for Remus’ benefit or his own given the spotlight that had been shone on his own future, ‘it was depressing enough at Christmas never mind now.’ James and Sirius shared a look, a telepathic conversation as to whether they were in the mood to argue or move on before they eventually chose to retreat, laying their weapons down as James agreed, ‘yeah I know, you were right Dais. It’d be better being eleven again.’ ‘Eh I’d settle for fifteen,’ Sirius shrugged, ‘I was fitter at fifteen, right Mar?’ ‘In that case I’d definitely opt to be eleven again,’ Marlene teased, ‘back when I had common sense. Dais did too, right Dais?’
Marlene looked at Daisy who was lost in thought, her mind running over the words that had just been spoken. She could feel Sirius and Marlene watching her with concern, probably worrying that their teasing about their past amorous entanglement had hit a nerve. But she wasn’t thinking about that, she was locked onto an idea.
‘Dais?’ Sirius asked after a moment, trying to inject lightness into his voice though his nerves disappeared as Daisy smiled. ‘That’s it!’ she said. ‘What’s it?’ James asked. ‘The prank!’ she beamed. ‘What about it?’ Sirius asked, the worry gone now replaced by excitement. ‘None of us want to leave right? We want to start all over again, first year to now,’ Daisy asked, her excitement growing as seven confused faces looked at her. ‘Yeah,’ Alice said, her eyes narrowing as she watched her friend unsurely. ‘So why don’t we?’ she asked. ‘Why don’t we what?’ Marlene asked. ‘Why don’t we make it so we’re all eleven again,’ Daisy grinned. ‘Like time travel?’ Peter asked, his brow furrowed as he tried to fathom out how on earth they would manage that. ‘Like a de-aging potion,’ Sirius said, cottoning onto her meaning at once. ‘Exactly!’ Daisy beamed. ‘For us?’ James asked. ‘For everyone, the entire school,’ Daisy said, watching as excitement grew on everyone’s faces so much so that the boys looked as though they might as well be eleven again. All the chiselled features, stubble and height practically vanished, replaced by four giddy faces. ‘It’d take some doing,’ James said, leaning in as though it was just the four of them. ‘A while to brew I’d reckon,’ Remus said, ‘but there’s definitely some books we could look at.’ ‘Getting it into everyone would be a logistical nightmare,’ Sirius added. ‘Especially if we included teachers,’ Peter agreed. ‘But it’s a good idea?’ Daisy asked, causing the four of them to look at her, smiles on their faces which gave her hope. She may not yet be a marauder but she could come up with an approvable idea at least. ‘Dais it’s bloody brilliant,’ James grinned though his smile dimmed as he remembered Lily was sitting there, watching quietly.
He pulled back at once as did everyone else, all eyes falling on the red head as he braved asking, ‘what do you think Lil?’ ‘Well I suppose no one gets hurt,’ she started. ‘And?’ Peter asked. ‘And it doesn’t have to last very long right?’ she questioned. ‘Like a day?’ Sirius suggested. ‘An hour,’ Lily countered. ‘Yeah that’d be long enough for people to get the message,’ Remus agreed though Sirius and James looked a tad put out. Daisy didn’t care as long as it got her sister on board though she still appeared to be deliberating. ‘And if we’re all working on it I suppose it wouldn’t take up too much time,’ she conceded. ‘Is that a yes?’ Sirius asked encouragingly. Lily sighed, ‘yes.’ ‘Good because we’ll need a chief potion brewer,’ Remus said, his academic strengths unfortunately not lending themselves to the subject. ‘Yeah and if we have you Slughorn would give us anything we needed,’ Marlene said. ‘But we all need to be part of it,’ Lily warned, ‘I’m not getting lumbered with this on top of my work.’ ‘Of course not,’ Daisy agreed, ‘you lead the potion and we can do the rest.’ ‘Strategy and planning is a marauders forte after all,’ James said. ‘Does this mean I’m a marauder now?’ Daisy wagered, earning a look from the boys. Then they were banded together, James draping himself across Lily as they conferred before pulling back and donning their most serious expressions.
‘Ooh are we about to see history?’ Alice teased earning a titter from the girls. ‘That you are my dear Alice,’ James smiled. ‘Daisy Evans,’ Remus said. ‘Yes my dear Moony,’ Daisy smiled sweetly. ‘We would hereby like to invite you to join the marauders as a fifth member,’ he said. ‘On a probationary period of course,’ James stipulated. ‘Of course,’ Daisy said deadpan. ‘And your position will be reviewed regularly,’ Sirius added. ‘Oh yeah?’ Daisy asked flirtily which for once caught him off guard making him shift bashfully and her grin to widen. ‘Hmm maybe we need to rethink our position,’ Peter said looking to James for approval who eyed the pair closely. ‘You might be right Wormy,’ James said seriously, ‘can’t have two marauders fraternising. Might distract from the matter at hand.’ ‘Oh don’t worry, I can assure you I'm a consummate professional,’ Daisy said, crossing over her heart. The boys shared a look and then nodded. ‘Well then Miss Evans,’ James said, ‘welcome to the Marauders.’
✵✵✵
After finally landing on an idea the group split their time between revision and planning the prank. Though Lily had declared her reluctance for the task of brewing the potion to fall solely on her she took up most of the work, not quite trusting anyone but her or Daisy to get it right. Which was just as well seeing as some of the ingredients were rare and even if Slughorn had given her the keys to the store cupboard without batting an eye even he would have questions if she went back to him asking for a replenished stock of phoenix tears.
Seeing as Daisy hardly used her part of the room anymore they had opted to run the operation from the girl’s dormitory which was just as well because it turned out to be quite the slog. Working out how much potion they would need to add per person to get a desired effect in contrast to how little they could get away with adding to the pumpkin juice so that it wasn’t detectable meant a lot of trial and error. It had also meant that more than once the boys had volunteered to become floppy haired pre-teens again. Still after a few weeks of tweaking they were ready with nearly fifteen batches of corked and bottled potion ready for use.
The only struggle was logistics. This had been debated for some time but in the end everyone felt there was no point going big too early. If they debuted their prank with a week to go people may generate a laugh or two but given how frazzled students were from exams and the prospect of losing revision time due to a silly prank it may go down like a lead balloon. Plus, Peter had pointed out, the later they did it the less time it left for them to be punished. In the end the consensus was to enact their plan at the end of term meal. Everyone in one place, drinking at one time.
Though that came with its own limitations. Seeing as everyone was expected to attend there would be no way more their absences wouldn't be noticed. Minerva McGonagall may have been getting rid of four perpetual headaches this summer but she wasn’t one to slack on her duties before time. No doubt she would be waiting for them, expecting something to go awry for the last time. In fact this had become so much of a problem that on their last day of exams they were still debating it.
They’d just finished their charms exam [their final one ever which was thankfully not as gruelling as expected] and were following the hordes of other students headed down to the lake, soaking up the last rays of summer sun they would get before they went home in a couple days. The end of year feast was tomorrow and now that they had nothing else to discuss it was the main focus of conversation.
‘What about Pete?’ Daisy asked as she watched him and Remus skim stones along the water’s surface. Beside her Marlene and Alice were laying on their outstretched cloaks sunbathing and James and Lily were nestled together across from them, Lily sitting in between James’ legs with his arms around her though he had his head back allowing the sunlight to swathe his face. She was sitting cross legged on the grass with Sirius beside her, who was fixated on pulling grass from the ground and sprinkling it on her leg though she was sure that was a ploy to keep darting his fingers under the hem of her skirt, a smirk gracing his face every time he went too far and got his hand smacked. ‘What about me?’ Peter said, turning around with a concerned look on his face. ‘We all have to be in the hall right?’ Daisy asked. ‘Well unless we want McGonagall to come looking for us,’ James said, cracking one eye open to look at her as he stopped his sunbathing, now intrigued. ‘But at least one of us needs to be in the kitchen to swap our batch of pumpkin juice for the normal one,’ Daisy continued. ‘Yeah, I asked Bonney’s sister but she said she wouldn’t do it,’ James said. ‘I don’t blame her,’ Lily said, explaining as everyone frowned, ‘well it’s a job on the line for her isn’t it!’ ‘At least she said they’d turn a blind eye,’ James said, ‘more than we could ask for really.’ ‘Anyway,’ Daisy continued, ‘it would only need one of us and one person isn’t too noticeable in a whole table. Pete could use the map, wait until Dumbledore is making his speech and then swap everything out. Once it’s done he can come upstairs and join us.’ ‘Why me?’ Peter grumbled. ‘Because he’s the smallest!’ Sirius said, catching her drift, ‘Dais that’s genius.’ ‘Eh?’ Marlene said, pushing herself onto her elbows apparently intrigued enough to warrant moving. ‘If he entered the hall in his Animagus form he could slip right under the table and transform,’ Sirius said. ‘And there’s bound to be enough commotion that ol’ Minnie won’t notice,’ James agreed. ‘Why me though?’ Peter said, abandoning his rock skimming as he folded his arms across his chest. ‘Because someone might notice a ruddy great stag clattering into the hall?’ Remus chuckled. ‘But-’ ‘Oh come on Pete,’ James pleaded. ‘Why can’t one of you use the cloak!’ Peter protested. ‘Because the teachers would see through any of them in a heartbeat,’ Alice said with a snort. ‘Yeah you’re our secret weapon,’ Daisy grinned, pouting as she gave him her best pleading expression. He deliberated on it for a long moment, looking between three begging faces Sirius, James and Daisy. The rest of the group was looking on amusedly waiting for him to cave. Then with a resigned sigh he said, ‘oh go on then.’ ‘Atta boy Wormtail,’ Sirius grinned.
✵✵✵
Everyone was nervous as they filtered into the great hall. Thankfully the end of year feast was unlike other meals and required everyone to attend at the same time, the whole student body filing in and taking their seats in unison. Given they were seventh years the group stuck to the end of the table, far, far away from the watchful eyes of the teachers which was good because as everyone took a seat and chatter rose McGonagall swept a cursory glance over her house. Yet fortunately after seeing James’ mop of messy hair and Sirius’ long locks she didn’t look much further and took to her own seat satisfied that everything was on the level.
They’d even tried to throw her off by swapping seats with the twins sitting opposite their boyfriends for a change. Remus was beside Lily and Marlene and Alice took to their other side which provided some normality but still it felt strange. And as chatter took hold of the hall Daisy couldn’t help but dwell on that fact. She couldn’t believe different things were now.
On starting Hogwarts the only person she had known was Lily. She had a family waiting back at home for her. She’d been a hot-headed tomboy and yet she’d still felt as though her and Lily were one. If she hadn't nearly died she might still be those things. She might still be comparing herself to Lily. Wanting to be smarter, prettier, more restrained. The boys had helped her see that she didn't need to be any of that. She was good as herself, she was her own person and more so she had realised she didn't need to lose Lily or push her away to feel that.
In fact over the next few years she had no doubt she’d long to have her twin as close as they had been at eleven. After all, they’d been through hardships and pain and managed to rebuild. They were adults now. They’d made friends and embarked on relationships. More importantly in losing one family they’d gained another, not better, but enough. The Evans girls were still together, like they always would be.
Yet the nerves were there. Thinking of the past made her contemplate the future bubbling up uncertainty and worry as if she were eleven again. Those first year, the start of something new, nerves laying heavy in her stomach, clawing at her as she thought about what was next. Well they did until she looked across the table and found Sirius watching at her with a questioning look in his eyes. She nodded on instinct, knowing he was checking in on her making sure she was okay. Only then did he smile, tuning back into the conversation now that he had reassurance, and as he did he took the nerves with him.
It may be the start of something new and uncertain but she resigned herself that it could never be that bad. After all she had him, her sister, her family. That was more than she could ask for even if they were trying to recapture their youth, a feat that grew closer as Dumbledore rose from his seat, causing instant hush to fall as he moseyed to the lectern. Daisy checked her goblet, finding it empty which was a good sign. She hoped Peter could do it. He’d looked awfully nervous when her and the boys had left him in the kitchens after emptying the bottles to the large vat of pumpkin juice that supplied the entire hall but she had faith. He was a marauder after all.
‘Another year over,’ Dumbledore started, any faint whispers growing silent the moment he opened his mouth. All heads were turned in his direction, even the teachers, their gazes locked onto the back of him as he continued, ‘I hope that you have all come away with more than you started the year with. A head full of facts, a heart full of friendship, even a sense of community that you will take with you into the next year and for those of us set to depart our doors, the wider wizarding world.’
As his words hit all of them, resonating with every student there were a few shared glances as pupils risked a peek at their friends. Of course this speech was like any other, the friendships they had made were the same as many students before them and many to follow but Daisy couldn’t help but feel he was right about the sense of community. She was probably just being sentimental but there was something about the community they’d made, the resistance, that made it hit harder. Her little band of friends could be like any other group except they’d built a club, they encouraged good will and rebellion amongst students who would no doubt enter the wizarding world at some point and hopefully choose the right side. Maybe one day those that had opted wrong would join too.
At that she risked a glance across the hall. As her eyes swept along the seats she locked eyes with Snape who she assumed had been looking at Lily given he scowled and looked away the moment she caught him. Daisy rolled her eyes and continued her path spying the person she was looking for a couple of seats further down. Regulus was sitting straight as a board, his eyes on Dumbledore but he turned when he felt eyes on him. They locked eyes for a moment, the same grey eyes she loved though admittedly they felt foreign on him, and then in the minutest of gestures he nodded before turning back to Dumbledore. Daisy smiled to herself, maybe one day.
After that she turned her attention back to her headmaster who was still speaking, his voice more serious as he said, ‘these times are troubled but if one remembers that our friends are our greatest resource against uncertainty we will go far. So, if you could all raise a glass.’
There was the sound of movement and two hundred bodies scrambled to grab their goblets and raise them into the air. As she took hers Daisy took a cautionary glance inside and found it full to the brim with pumpkin juice. It looked the same as any other day, the yellow liquid sloshing around just as normal as ever yet she didn’t risk a look in the boy's direction and willed herself to trust in Peter.
‘To friendship, freedom and the future,’ Dumbledore said. ‘Friendship, freedom and the future,’ came the response call from everyone present before they all raised a glass and then took a sip.
For a moment Daisy didn’t feel anything and started to panic that it had all gone awry. That was until she heard the squeak of a hinge and looked to find the door of the great hall nudging open by a margin. And when she looked back, expecting to find her grown boyfriend in front of he was no longer there, replaced by the softer features of the boy she’d met on her first day. Glancing down at herself she found her own body changed, a much smaller, flatter stature in its place. In fact as she glanced around she found everyone looking the same, except for the first years who were the only ones to escape transformation.
Chatter, laughter and pointing immediately erupted all over the place as friends laughed at their childlike pals. Even the staff did not seem to mind, trying to suppress bemused smiles as they noted Flitwick’s chubby cheeks or Dumbledore’s robes which now engulfed him. Even Hagrid had regressed though admittedly he still towered over everyone and the potion was having trouble with his unruly beard meaning he had a youthful look peppered in stubble.
‘Did I do it? Did it work?’ came Peter’s voice grabbing their attention as he popped up from under the table, slipping into his seat next to James as he checked the hall to inspect his handiwork. ‘It worked on everyone but you it looks like,’ James said, taking in the still seventeen-year-old beside him. ‘What?’ Peter asked looking around the sea of baby faces to find them staring at him. ‘You’ve not changed,’ Marlene said, whipping a compact mirror out of her robes to show him. Peter heaved a groan. ‘Didn’t you drink anything?’ Remus asked. ‘I forgot! I was too busy trying to stay out of the house elves' way,’ he said embarrassedly. ‘Oh well,’ James shrugged, throwing an arm around his friend, ‘you did the rest Wormy. No big deal.’ ‘But now they’ll know it was us!’ Lily said. ‘Let ‘em,’ Sirius said backing James up which made Peter grow visibly less tense, ‘actually I’m quite annoyed we didn’t think to leave us out of it in the first place so that they did know it was us.’ ‘They’re right. Not like they can give us detention is it,’ Daisy said, ‘and if I'm honest I’m kind of weirded out seeing you all like this.’ ‘Agreed,’ Alice giggled. ‘You mean you don’t fancy the pants off me again?’ James grinned, his newly acquired puppy fat making his grin seem cheekier somehow. Daisy snorted. ‘I don’t fancy Pads at this point,’ she countered. ‘Harsh Dais,’ Sirius chuckled.
Though their smiles disappeared at once as McGonagall appeared at the end of the table from nowhere, looking down at them with a scowl on her face before her gaze turned solely to Peter. Even as a pre-teen she looked intimidating, her beady eyes not offset by softer features or cumbersome emerald robes. Not even when she looked at the boy who was practically eye level with her sat down did she look young or weak, instead he seemed to shrink back as if James, an eleven-year-old boy, could protect him.
‘Mr Pettigrew,’ she said, her Scottish trill higher in pitch yet just as firm as ever. ‘Yes Professor?’ Peter said timidly. ‘Is there something you would like to tell me?’ she asked, crossing her arms across her chest and waiting. It was unnerving to watch and for a moment Daisy was expecting him to spill everything right then and there but he didn’t, clearing his throat and sitting up straighter as he said, ‘no Professor.’ ‘Anyone else?’ she asked realising he was not for breaking and casting her net further afield. Everyone was watching them now, not just at Gryffindor table, and yet the marauders stayed silent. Holding their tongue for what felt like the first time ever. McGonagall sighed, ‘very well.’ ‘Actually Professor we did want to say something,’ Daisy said, catching the girl as she was just about to strut off. Everyone looked at her. She could feel the boys’ gaze boring into her face as if wondering what she was going to do. She had learned a lot from them over the years and though the goal had always been to get away with their escapades when the chips were down they never normally backed away. More importantly they never normally missed an opportunity to brag after all hadn’t that been one of the cornerstones for her disliking them. ‘Yes Miss Evans?’ McGonagall asked, a soft arched eyebrow raising just a tad. ‘We just wanted to tell you that well, we’ve loved every minute here haven’t we?’ she said looking to her friends who immediately nodded, smiles on their juvenile faces imploring her to continue. Even Lily, who she expected to clamp her hand over her mouth was smiling shyly, finally allowing her sister a little free range, ‘and we just wished we could do it all over again.’ ‘I see,’ McGonagall said coolly, ‘and for how long do you foresee this desire lasting?’ ‘Oh about twenty minutes?’ James grinned, ‘what do you think Lil?’ ‘Yeah,’ Lily said, smiling apologetically at McGonagall as she added, ‘half an hour tops.’ ‘Very well,’ McGonagall said before she strode away.
As she walked off, gazes started shifting back towards the teachers awaiting further instruction. Dumbledore still seemed bemused by the whole thing and decreed they might as well tuck in, adding a stipulation that should anyone not be transformed by the time they were ready to depart the great hall they should go to Madam Pomfrey for assistance.
Dinner after that was quite the experience. For the most part everyone’s new looks were easy to get used to which meant conversation resumed naturally as everyone started to eat. Yet as everyone chatted, reminisced and talked about the future the spell started to fade with students popping back to their normal selves in random intervals earning a rapture of cheering and laughter as normality clawed its way back.
And by the time dinner was done and all the plates were empty everyone was back to their normal bodies and ages and the marauders’ spot in the history books was secured indefinitely.

(another section from the forever unpublished raising harry AU)
Every day seemed to start the same.
With breakfast, which wasn’t the worst way to start, and it seemed that having a teenager in the house with him was exactly what Sirius needed to remember to leave his bedroom and make breakfast at all.
Harry woke up early, to Sirius’s surprise, despite what the books he had been gradually combing through said about circadian rhythm and teenagers. Every morning without fail, Sirius would get up and start preparing breakfast, only to have Harry walk through the kitchen, dressed in his oversized, worse-for-wear clothes, shortly after.
And every day, Sirius would ask do you want to do something?
It became a sort of script, a routine in itself because Harry always shook his head, or if Sirius was lucky the words “no thank you” would appear and dance around the kitchen for the moment.
Sirius had memories of when Harry was a baby, always making noise, always babbling. How Sirius would hold him as he slept, and even then, Harry would let out contented sighs to let Sirius know he was there, alive, happy. Only now, when Harry had more words, Sirius scarcely heard them.
Then again, Sirius didn’t talk as much as he used to either, his mind running wild with uncertainty wanting to say the right thing, and do the right thing, and asking too many questions that it occurred to Sirius briefly Harry might not know how to answer, only to realize he hadn’t actually spoken any of these thoughts out loud.
Two minds.
One kitchen table.
Not a minute of conversation.
--
“We can do anything you like, you know.”
“I know, I’m okay, I promise.”
-
“We could go down to the seaside, the water should be the perfect temperature.”
“I don’t have trunks, I don’t think…but I’m alright here.”
-
“You don’t have to just read or stay in your room, Harry. The deck is nice.”
“I’m okay, Sirius, you don’t need to worry about me.”
-
Pulling teeth.
Grasping straws.
Emptying out his pockets, shaking his satchel upside down watching as crumpled receipts and loose coins and hard candies and an extra scarf made its way into the bin, and nothing was left at the bottom. Harry wouldn’t sit outside with Sirius, preferring to flip through magazines or read quietly in the sitting room, occasionally getting up and leaving after Sirius sat down. Harry would make himself scarce, as if trying to disappear in a home that was carved expressly for him. Meals, seemed to be the only time they had with one another, and those went by quickly, Sirius noticing how fast Harry ate his food, how he seemed to guard it with one of his arms, in comparison to Sirius, who ate painfully slow these days. A bite at a time.
Andy,
I might be rubbish at this whole godfather thing. Does the invitation for dinner still stand?
Sirius.
Sirius,
Less than a week? I’m impressed you snuffed it up with Harry that quickly. Some things never change, love.
The invitation is always there--does Harry like roast chicken? Come for the afternoon.
Andy
“How do you feel about roast chicken?” Sirius asked as he put down his fork, swallowing a bite of his dinner. Harry picked his head up in mild confusion, looking at his plate that was not full of chicken, and it wasn’t the time of day to be asking about food preferences.
“Er, I like it?”
“Was that a question or an answer?”
“An answer. I’m…this is really good, Sirius. I don’t need a special meal or anything,” Harry assured him, picking up another forkful of rice and putting it into his mouth as if to make a point; prove to Sirius that he meant what he said.
“My cousin wrote me this afternoon. Would you mind if we went to her house for dinner tomorrow night? Maybe for the day?”
“You have a cousin?”
Sirius nodded, smiling, “I have a lot of cousins, this one just happens to be the only decent one. Her names Andromeda.”
“Where…where does she live?”
“London, with her husband. She has a daughter but she’s moved out in her own flat. She might come along for dinner.”
Harrys eyebrows were still knitted together, “Does….she…does she know I’m with you?”
It was almost too similar, the innocuous question. Because Sirius had asked the same one countless times of the Potters when he was sixteen and then seventeen, even into eighteen, and they would be invited over to friends homes or dinners hosted by Potions lab associations for Mr. Potter. Because Sirius was never sure when they received an invitation if it was for three, or four.
It’s alright  if they didn’t know, I can stay here I promise, Mrs. Potter.
“Harry, I wrote her to tell her I had a godson before I even had a house to live in,” he said slowly, “She very much knows and is very happy to have you over.”
“You told people?”
Sirius laughed softly, “When your Dad told me your Mum was pregnant, we went up and down the streets of Diagon Alley and told everyone we passed. Muggle cafes, shops--she wanted to be the one to tell all our friends she was pregnant and actually made James and I wait outside in the hall while she did it. He was terrible at keeping secrets, and I was so excited.”
“Really?”
“Still am excited.”
“...You didn’t walk down the streets telling people again, did you?”
“No, but I could. Would you like that?”
Harry smiled a little looking down at his plate, “No, that’s okay. I’m…alright without all of that.”
“Dinner though? She is a far better cook than I am.
“You’re brilliant.”
“So you can imagine what her chicken will taste like.”
“We can go,” Harry nodded. “What’s…she like?”
“The funniest person you will ever meet,” Sirius picked up a bite of chicken on his plate, “I can bore you with some decent stories from my childhood…”
“I’ve had so much excitement, I think I could stand being bored…” Harry responded and Sirius laughed. “...Will…can I hear one?”

Help | R.B
Paring: Regulus Black X Daughter!Reader
Summary: At first it was for him, now everything he does is for her.
Warnings: Rape, cursing, death, etc
Being wise comes with living. Dumbledore had lived a lot of years. Everyone knows that. The man worked his way up the hierarchy from being a Transfiguration teacher to the headmaster at Hogwarts. He was even offered a place as the Minister of Magic. What people didn’t comprehend or, rather, didn’t think about was, when living that long you realize every button to push, every nook and cranny to get your way.
Manipulation at its finest. Now, truth be told, manipulation isn’t always evil. It can be good, per se, manipulating someone to stop doing something that’s particularly harmful - alcohol, smoking. But when used negatively, it could make everything worse.
The Order of the Phoenix was manipulated. From beginning to end. Dumbledore convinced the young kids - naive kids - that they were safe and that’s what they needed. These kids needed reassurance that everything would be okay, and Dumbledore assured them that they were safe.
But were they safe when the McKinnon family died? Were they safe when Fabian and Gidian Prewett died? Could James and Lily truly depend on Dumbledore to keep them safe with a newborn?
When Sirius Black joined the order, he had one request. Just one. A linear, singular request. It was saving Regulus Black. That’s all Sirius wanted, was for his little brother to be safe. Sirius knew about Regulus being a death eater, and he needed saving. Regulus didn’t want this life, and he especially didn’t want this with a baby girl.
He was seventeen, and he was forced. Sirius knew it. James knew it. Remus knew it. Regulus had come to the Gryffindor portrait crying on his knees, begging - no - pleading for his older brother. The Fat Lady was cursing him out for not having the password and being a Slytherin. Luckily, James heard the ruckus and ran to his aid. He was yelling for Sirius.
“Sirius! Sirius, I need you!” James had never sounded so frantic, so panicky, “Sirius, now!”
Sirius threw the textbook on the floor. James’ voice reminded him of an alarm - crazed, loud, repetitive. The black-haired boy ran down the dorm steps, almost falling over his feet to see the portrait wide open. Everything went in a vignette, zoomed in and black around the edges. Immediately Sirius was pushing James off his little brother and embracing him tightly.
“S- Sirius.”
Godric, he sounded so broken, “‘S okay, Reggie. ‘S okay. I got you. It’s me, Sirius. You’re safe here, Frère.”
“It- It hurts.” Regulus muttered, his voice shaky and helpless, “Need you.”
“You’re okay.”
Sirius looked up into James’ worried hazel eyes, “C’mon. We’re bringing him up.”
“Are you mental?!”
“James, he’s my brother!”
James scowled, “He’s also a Slytherin!”
“He needs me. I’m not letting him go.” It was the first time Sirius’ voice had gone stern with James, “Either I’m sleeping out here with my brother, or you’re helping me bring him up to the dorm.”
“Fine, fine.”
Sirius looked down at his brother, who was tucked under his chin, silver streams trailing down his flushed cheeks. His cheeks glistened with anguish and pain. His fists were balling the back of Sirius’ white button-up, tightly, stressed.
“Reggie.” For the first time, Regulus didn’t cringe, and instead, he melted into Sirius’ warmth, “James and I are going to bring you into our dorm, okay?”
“Mhm.”
Gently Sirius helped him up, placing an arm around his shoulder. James put his other arm around his shoulder. Both boys helped the sixth year into the Gryffindor common room, getting multiple stares and glares. Regulus managed to up the stairs onto Sirius’ bed, a sniffling and trembling mess.
James smiled gently at them, and Sirius sat beside Regulus on the edge of his bed, “What happened?”
“She- She forced me. I didn’t want to. Please, Sirius, I didn’t want this.”
“Want what?”
“She touched me.” Regulus whispered, and Sirius rubbed his back, “I- I didn’t want it….”
Sirius hesitated, “Did- Did mum have anything to do with this?”
Regulus nodded, and silent tears fell down his cheeks, “She- Mum, is the reason. I was supposed to be arranged to this woman but- but she did this and- and-“
“It’s too much.” Regulus wailed.
Sirius held his brother close until he fell asleep. The trails of tears dried on his cheeks, and Sirius laid his head on the feathery pillow. The fleece comforter was placed over his wrinkled button-up, black pants, and socks. Regulus’ black curls contrasted the pillow, and his cheeks were a pale pink. Sirius had never felt so upset.
Releasing a breath of air, he left the dorm room to go to the common room where the boys were sitting. James perked up, and Remus’ head was pulled into a book, a cup of tea on the table beside him. Peter was playing chess with a fellow Gryffindor across the room, not paying attention to anything but the checkered table before him.
“Is he okay?”
Sirius plopped beside James, “He will be.”
The silence was killing Remus to the point of his curiosity tipping over, “What happened exactly?”
“Some girl, my mum, arranged him with did something that he didn’t consent to.”
The teacup that was in Remus’ hand dropped to the carpeted floor, staining, “You’re shitting me?”
Regulus was in pain, physically and emotionally. Although the boys didn’t understand completely, they understood that Sirius’s time would be dedicated to his little brother. No matter what was going on in the wizarding world at present, Sirius’ time was needed with Regulus.
It was nine months later. Thirty-nine weeks later. Two hundred and seventy-three days later. Left on the doorstep of the Noble House of Black’s residence was a baby girl. Orion and Walburga had left the house previously, leaving Regulus alone with Kreacher, their house elf. The baby girl was crying and helpless.
His lifeless grey eyes met the young girl's e/c ones, and everything clicked. This was the product of his emotional pain in his sixth year. Regulus couldn’t deny the warmth in his heart looking at the young girl. Gently he leaned down to take her in his arms. A pink silk blanket wrapped around her to keep her warm despite the summer months.
Once in his arms, the girls stopped crying. The warmth of his body and the softness in his eyes calmed her down. There was an envelope inside the baby blanket, which Regulus opened after placing the sleeping child on his lap. Essentially the letter was telling him to name the baby girl and her birthday. Along with now that the marriage was called off, she wanted nothing to do with him.
Regulus threw the parchment to the side furiously. Despite his frustration, he picked up his daughter and smiled at her, “I dunno what to name you precious.”
The girl wrapped her hand around his thumb that had been caressing her cheek, “Y/n? I like that name.”
She smiled, and so did he, “You like that too, don’t you, précieux.”
Regulus placed a kiss on Y/n’s forehead, rocking her back and forth, “I love you so much.”
During the school year, Y/n stayed with Sirius, who was overjoyed to stay with his niece. Regulus only saw his daughter one more time before he decided it was his end. Regulus knocked on Sirius’ flat, looking utterly exhausted. Sirius answered with a big smile on his face.
“Heya Reggie!”
Regulus struggled to smile, “Hey, Siri.”
“Come on.” Sirius beckoned, “Y/n is sleeping, but you can see her if you’d like.”
He walked in to see a door open to a small room. Inside it was painted in a pale lavender color with white furniture. Regulus walked inside to find a crib with his one-year-old girl sleeping inside. She made this so much harder. Regulus didn’t want to do this, but he needed to do it if he wished Y/n to have a safe life.
Regulus’ arms cradled his daughter to his chest, “I love you, précieux. I love you too much to express. I know that you’ll never remember me. I’m praying that Sirius will tell you about me.”
“You’re my baby girl. You’ll always be my baby girl.” Regulus’ eyes welled with tears, “And- And I’ll be with you no matter what.”
Y/n’s eyes opened, and she smiled, being cradled in her father's arms, “Dada?”
Regulus had tears streaming down his face, and Sirius watched from the doorway, “Yes, hi petite fille.”
She giggled, and Regulus had the brightest smile on his face; he nuzzled his nose with hers, “Dada’s here, little girl.”
He spent an hour with her. The last sixty minutes of his freedom was spent cooing and coddling. Regulus wanted to engrave her beautiful e/c eyes in his head, her soft smile, smooth skin, and fuzzy hair. Regulus placed his daughter back in the crib and kissed her forehead one more time.
Walking back out into the living room of the flat, he saw Sirius waiting for him. Regulus didn’t make any appoint to try and sit down. That’s how Sirius knew was something wrong. He released an air of breath and dried his tears.
“Sirius, you may have to keep Y/n with you a little longer until it’s safe, okay?”
“‘Course Reggie.”
“If- If I don’t come back-“
“Don't say that, please.”
Regulus looked at his brother solemnly, “But it’s realistic.”
“Okay, just- try to make it back.” Sirius replied.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll try.” He lied, “I- I want you to tell her about me, yeah?”
Sirius chuckled, “You’re her father, Regulus. I wouldn’t not tell her.”
“Don’t let her mum take her. I don’t care what she says Y/n will be in your care.”
Sirius nodded, “One- One more thing. This may sound stupid but, teach her French?”
“Teach her French? Why?”
“It’s how I used to talk to her before seventh year started. I want her to know how to speak it. French was something I enjoyed learning, something that kept me sane at our horror house.” Regulus confessed, “I want her to learn it.”
“If it means that much to you, Reggie.” Sirius replied, and Regulus nodded, “It does.”
“Then Y/n will learn French, after English.”
“Good.”
Regulus began walking out the door when he felt arms around him from behind and a head in the crook of his neck, “Come back alive, okay?”
“I’m gonna try, Siri.”
He never came back alive. Regulus walked toward the entrance of that cave, knowing that today he was going to die. In the start, this was for Regulus to right his wrongs. Now it’s for his daughter. If anything, Y/n deserved a happy, exciting life. Not one of pain and suffering like Regulus had.
The Daily Prophet the next day said everything it needed to, “REGULUS BLACK DECLARED DEAD.” This was it. Regulus had inevitably left his daughter and got himself killed. Sirius cried - sobbed - for his little brother who had a child. He wept for his niece, who would grow up not knowing her father.
Ten years later, Y/n was getting ready for her first year at Hogwarts. Sirius had introduced baby Harry with one-year-old Y/n at the time where they became best friends. Harry was gravely disappointed at his best friend leaving but excited that he’d see her the following year.
In the bathroom, Y/n was sitting in front of the mirror with Sirius behind her. Sirius was brushing her hair, not because she couldn’t do it but because Sirius didn’t really want to let her go. After setting the brush on the counter, he placed his hands on her shoulders, looking at her in the mirror. She looked so much like him. His hands twirled through her h/c hair.
“You look like your father.”
Y/n’s eyes widened, “I- I do?”
“You do.”
“I don’t remember much from him.” Y/n stated, “I remember him calling me précieux, vaguely, which I know now is precious.”
Sirius chuckled, “He also made me teach you, French. It was one of his wishes before he- you know.”
“Why?”
“Learning French is a pure-blood thing. Regulus said it kept him sane.” Sirius answered, “I honored that even if I hated that language.”
It was silent for a while, “You know, sometimes when you’re angry, you just start ranting in French?”
“I don’t!”
Sirius laughed, “You do. You definitely do, amour.”
Y/n giggled, and Sirius began tickling her sides. Her laughter and smile were contagious, just like how Regulus’ was. Regulus had such an infectious laugh and beautiful smile. Sirius was almost glad Y/n inherited it. After tickling her, she melted into Sirius’ embrace, hugging him tightly.
“Je t'aime, oncle Sirius.”
“Je t'aime aussi, amour.”
It was a system Sirius had created with her instead of saying, “Toujours Pur,” like his mother had made him and Regulus say. Y/n is what made him love French again. The way she swore in the language unintentionally. How she’d say the language like a native, just like her father. It meant everything to him.
Years later. Y/n was in fifth year, and the Triwizard tournament members had just been called. Viktor Krum was called first. Then Fleur Delacour. Then Cedric Diggory. That was meant to be the finality, but nonetheless, Harry Potter’s name got called. As all the members walked into a room away from the Great Hall, Dumbledore began speaking to the worried children.
One sentence stood out to Y/n particularly, “Help will always be given at Hogwarts for those who deserve it.”
It brought so much rage in her that she couldn’t help but speak, “That’s bullshit!”
Everyone stared with jaws slack, “My father deserved help! Hell, he needed to be saved, and here because of your bullshit, he died! My father is gone because of you and your shitty manipulative ways!”
“He may have been a death eater, but it wasn’t what he wanted. Godric, he needed saving! His own brother turned on him. So fuck you and fuck your stupid sayings. Because you aren’t a saint, and I don’t have to fall to your knees like a worthless soldier.”
Dumbledore was astonished by her attitude as she began leaving the Great Hall, “That's one hundred points from Gryffindor, Ms.Black!” McGonagall yelled.
“Pardonnez mon français, mais je m'en fous.” Y/n yelled as she flicked off everyone in the room.
Before she left, she turned around and faced everyone, “If anyone- and I mean anyone, touches, talks badly, or even remotely glares at Harry Potter, so help me, I won’t hesitate to hex you.”

idk yall scorbus' trope of best friends to lovers is cute but its already pretty common and i want something new
you know what would be super interesting? scorpius x james sirius
like imagine scorpius trying to repress his crush on his best friend's older brother who's just suuuuper cool
like not only that james is albus' brother, but albus also kinda hates him?? well, not really, scorpius knows they love each other but they never been able to be in the same room for more than 10 minutes without bantering or bullying each other, he can only imagine how albus would react if he finds out that scorpius has a crush on james
but he just cant help it okay?!!!
and like yes, its definitely because james potter is like the star of the school, BUT its not even because his parents are hero harry potter and celebrity athlete turned respected journalist ginny potter
james potter is beloved by all bc of himself, hes super tall and handsome, hes confident but at the same time he never underestimate other people
hes extremely funny but never actually offend or hurt anyone
you know hes the type of guy who always nod or smile at anyone he passes by? even when he doesnt know their names? HOW IS HE SO FAMOUS AND YET SO POLITE?
and hes a QUIDDITCH CAPTAIN TOO???
do you know how hot and weird scorpius feels every time james the potter chaser goes head to head against albus the potter keeper at every quidditich vs slytherin match?
and how he always secretly cheers for james
and theres this one point, where some students were harassing scorpius by asking albus why would he even want to hangout with a 'beast' like that skinny malfoy kid
and sudden james potter just swooped in, hands on those students' shoulders, squeezing them hard while he forces a menacing smile at them, asking "you both seem to need glasses, because im pretty sure between those two lot, my brother would be the beast-
"hey-"
"-i mean i'm pretty sure i saw the whole school witnessed my dear beastly al attacked me when i turned his hair hot pink at last week's dinner, or should i remind you how albus attacked me by using the hex he casted on you lot?" said James, his smile is so wide and forced his handsome face turned into a maniac, the students visibly shuddered, shook their heads and fleed.
not to be dramatic, but scorpius' knees felt really weak after that
"you know, malfoy, my aunt hermione said that in this muggle fairytale, the beast befriends the beauty, so i guess you're pretty one stuck with this monster, eh?" james winked at him, nudging albus who looked like hes about ready to lunge at his brother again.
"dont make me hex you again you idiot"
"see, malfoy?" james shook his head dramatically "why do pretty people always have to deal with monsters"
james then just left the scene leaving albus muttering the hundred ways hes preparing to kill his brother
and scorpius even more infatuated
was james flirting with him? that was a flirt right? he called him pretty
oh GOD, JAMES POTTER THINKS HE'S PRETTY???
also i feel like everyone in the fandom kinda make james as the token straight guy and i hate that
my son is queer ok

The Silence of the Witch
Pairing: James Potter x Bi!Female!Reader x Bi!Lily Evans
Summary: It's your seventh and last year at Hogwarts and you want to live it to its fullest; even if that includes giving in to your girlfriend's request to invite a certain Marauder to join in during sex...
Warnings: +18, smut, language, mentions of poly relationships, open relationship concept, bisexuality (is this even a warning? it shouldn't), teasing, voyeurism, really kinky, the reader is kind of a dom here, slight dom/sub, and my English as usual.
Word Count: 8550
A/N: Okay, so for the last round of votes I did after the Twins' series, Wolfstar and Jily tied, so I chose to write about the latter. I really wanted to write it! I mean if I get to write Lily as reader's girlfriend, I'll take those chances. My bi ass would not forgive itself if I didn't. Also, I know that this might be romanticizing or even normalizing straight men turned on by 'lesbian/gay sex', but I personally find it arousing to be in these types of situations, so I did not have an issue writing this. If you do, I'm sorry that you do, and please ignore this and don't read it. If it is not your cup of tea, don't drink it.
Tumblr media
“This is going to be the most exhilarating year yet.”
“And why is that, Prongs?” Sirius asked as he leaned back against the headboard of his bed.
“Because, Pads, this is the year.” James, who had been digging out his pajamas from his trunk, stood tall and glanced at his friends, “This is the year that Evans finally says yes!”
“I thought the last five years were the years she would,” Remus grinned as James sent a quick glare his way before he proceeded to change for the night.
The infamous Marauders found themselves in their dorm room after the new year’s grand ceremony. It had been bittersweet to say the least as it was their last time witnessing the sorting, the last time they would say ‘Merlin, it feels good to be back,’ and the last year they had to see James make a fool of himself before they were to face the looming war. Granted, James had changed a lot over the summer, he had gone through some experiences that allowed him to grow into a man he liked, and hopefully so would Lily Evans.
But Lily Evans had also changed during the summer.
Just like the Marauders talked and laugh about what’s to come this last year at Hogwarts, Marlene McKinnon, Alice Fortescue, Mary McDonald, Lily Evans, and you laughed and talked about the new year.
“I’m so ready to see Potter’s newest attempts to get little miss Evans’ attention this year,” Marlene said as she laid on her bed, legs crossing as her feet touched the bed.
“Oh, I don’t think anything can top last year’s grand departure,” you said as you glanced at the red-headed girl who only rolled her eyes at the laughs your comment had brought.
“Please, don’t remind me,” she groaned as she threw her head on your lap. “I will never be able to touch glitter without remembering that stupid howler.”
“Oh, come on, it was cute,” you looked down at her as she glared up at you. “You looked so cute with your embarrassed face, the way you were trying so hard not to cuss half of the English dictionary his way, and let’s not forget how the glitter made you look like Thinker Bell.”
Mary laughed at your last comment, as she—like you and Lily—was a muggleborn.
Lily only glared all the more as her roommates broke into laughter when Mary explained to them what a ‘thinker bell’ was, but she soon blushed when your eyes caught her green ones.
This past summer, you and Lily had spent it together since the minute it started as Lily had asked her parents if she could do so, with the promise of spending her last week before the last year with them. And in that time, things had changed with her best friend. There had been so much laughter, so many memories to cherish as you two spent the summer mostly out of the house, and when you were in the house, the memories were ones that brought Lily a massive blush on her pale cheeks and a feeling of need between her long legs.
“I’m tired, so I’m off to bed. Do not make much ruckus, will ya?” Dorcas said as she changed into her loose pajama pants and top. Everyone seemed to agree as they yawned and nodded along with words of agreement.
Soon enough, the Gryffindors’ had all fallen into a deep slumber as the prospects of the new year was only hours away.
°°°°°°
The Great Hall was lively as students eat and converse during their first morning together. It seemed everyone was in high spirits as even those students that were chewing their food trying not to fall asleep seemed to be happy.
By the time the students had received their timetables, all students were awake and ready to start their day. Which included James Potter’s need to impress Lily Evans.
Marlene, while she had been complaining how her Divination lessons were going to be the death of her, she took noticed how the loud voices of the four infamous Gryffindors were carrying over. She rolled her eyes as Sirius barked a laugh at something one of his mates had said.
“Oi, Black! Quiet down will ya? I cannot even hear my own thoughts,” she said as she gave him a fake smile.
Sirius, who had stopped his laughter, gave the woman a sly smirk.
“My apologies, Marlene, I know it’s hard for you to think, so I’ll keep my volume to the minimum,” replied the man. James let out a snort as Marlene’s mouth dropped at the insult.
“Real mature,” quipped Lily with her usual condescending tone, “both of you are children.”
“Oh, come on, Evans. It’s all in good fun,” defended Sirius as he gave a dashing smile that he knew never worked on Evans or you for that matter.
But before Lily could explain to Sirius and James—who had laughed—the latter man interrupted the bickering that could have happened.
“You’re right, Lily. I’m sorry Marlene that Sirius here still has the humor of a second year.”
Everyone was looking at James as if the man had sprouted a second head without his knowledge. Sirius looked scandalized, Remus had stopped his spoon mid-way toward his mouth, Peter looked confused, while you and the rest of the girls looked at James with incredulity.
“Umm, uh, it’s alright, Potter. I know Sirius can be a git, so it’s all good,” said Marlene. She gave a small smile.
You broke from your confusion before everyone else, and you were about to question Potter for his unusual defense of Marlene when you noticed how James’ eyes kept shifting to Lily’s. It took you a second to catch on, but soon you realized that he had agreed with Lily in hopes to impress her with his attempt to show some maturity. You almost laughed at the realization but the students getting up from their seats announced that it was time to head to lessons.
And so, quietly, you all did.
And James Potter’s attempts did not end with that first morning.
As the term went by, everyone in the unconventional friend group noticed that James’ usual grand attempts to impress Lily had dwindled down to agreeing with her, trying to not disrupt lessons as much as he used to along Sirius, walking next to her and talking about things they had in common, and the occasional romantic gesture of transfiguring things into flowers—and he was cliché enough to give her lilies. Everyone was impressed with how James had gone from a first-class jerk to a complete gentleman. His friends mocked his behavior at first, but soon they were more than willing to help him set up meetings so that Lily and he could talk without ears near them. The whole seventh-year class was betting on when they were going to go on their first date. People were loving it. But not you.
You were livid. Lily was your girlfriend, but no one knew about it. Neither of you was ashamed of being who you were. Both of you were into men and women alike, but you both understood that not everyone was open-minded. Thus, your relationship was a secret. This is why no one knew that whenever you dragged Lily to the restrooms was not to fix hairdos or makeup, but to push her against the wall and steal her breath away. It was that or making her gasp and moan your name while your fingers fucked her cunt until she could barely stand straight.
Something told you that Lily was loving your inability to keep your jealousy at bay, but at the same time there was something in the back of your head that told you that Lily was looking at James with eyes she had never done before. And the thought alone led you to make Lily squirm and quiver under you when no one was in the dorm.
It wasn’t until mid-November that things took a sharp turn.
“Hey, Evans!”
You and Lily had been walking to the library when Potter came out of nowhere. You both stopped to look at the man jog closer, and you swore Lily’s smile was the brightest she had ever given him. Which he took notice of as he suddenly seemed flustered.
“Umm, uh, can I talk to you for a second? In private?” he asked as he gave you both a smile.
You were about to tell him off with an excuse that you needed to study when Lily spoke first.
“Sure!” said Lily as she turned to you, “I’ll meet you at the library, Y/n. I’ll just be a minute.”
Your eye twitched as you glared at your girlfriend. She gave you one pleading smile before you opted to give her a fake smile to then walk toward the library. On your way there, you had come up with about twenty ways to murder James and how to hide his body.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” asked Lily after she was sure you had gone. She didn’t want you hearing whatever corny thing Potter wanted to tell her. Not like she opposed much these days.
“Well, as you know, our last Hogsmeade trip is in about two weeks and I was wondering if you would like to go out with me?” asked James with a charming smile, hopeful eyes, and an erratic beating heart.
And Lily’s heart was in the same state as James awaited a response from the redhead. Lily let out a shaky breath before she grabbed his hand and pulled him aside where she was sure no one could see them or hear them.
James looked confused as Lily seemed to have lost some color on her face, leading him to do just about the same.
“Look, I’m sorry for asking,” started James as he looked at his feet.
“No, don’t worry about that, it’s uh, it’s complicated.” Lily bit her lip trying to let down the boy who she had learned to like, which she hated to admit. But he needed the truth, he didn’t deserve to be led on by her like she had been doing. Granted, she had liked the new James, but she was dating you, and she wouldn’t do anything to actually hurt you.
“Look, James. This term you’ve proven to me that you have changed into a person I can say that I like—” James smiled, but soon it dropped, “—but I also changed. I learned things about myself that I was too afraid to let out, but I’ve never felt so like myself until I decided to be me.”
“I don’t, umm, you lost me,” said James as he tried to see how her changing did anything to affect the ability to properly let him down or go out with him.
Lily rolled her eyes and bit her bottom lip.
“I’m dating somebody,” she whispered to him. James swore his mouth went dry. He shook his head as if his brain couldn’t grasp her words.
“Wait, so you’ve been dating some guy and you haven’t said a word? Gee, Evans. A little heads up would have been nice.” James couldn’t help to be a little annoyed at the situation at hand, Lily had never acted as if she was taken, yet she had limited her interactions whenever he pulled a romantic gesture.
“It’s not like I have to tell you about my personal life, Potter,” said Lily hotly.
“You do when you have a boyfriend and lead me on as if you are interested in me!”
Lily glared at him for what felt like minutes when in reality both of them glared at each other for about ten seconds before Lily broke away first.
“I’m sorry, okay? You just finally started acting like a decent person, so I liked getting to know this renewed James Potter,” she said.
After a moment of silence, James broke the awkward air.
“So…is it anyone I know?”
Lily looked at him questionably. He rolled his eyes.
“Your boyfriend?” he said with a teasing grin.
Lily felt her face redden at the gaze of the man. James kept on assuming she was dating a boy when in reality she was dating you, a girl. But she was not about to tell him that.
“Shut up, I have to go. Y/n is waiting for me.” With that, she left.
But those two weeks that followed after her talk with James had been hard for Lily. After Lily had gone to the library in search of you, you were long gone. You hadn’t even gone to the library as it seemed your jealousy had raised to a level that only anger seemed to be found. After Lily had found you in your dorm, alone, she had guiltily fessed up to what James had wanted to talk about, which led to you stonily asking for what she had said to Potter. Lily explained everything, including how James had taken the news that she was dating somebody. You had somewhat calmed down when Lily had turned him down, but little did you know that the night was far from over as Lily had decided to have a heart-to-heart talk with you not even five minutes later.
What you hadn’t expected was Lily’s confession that she had wanted to say yes to Potter’s invitation. The talk had been one that took over a whole week to process on your part. Lily had admitted to you, her girlfriend, that she had wanted to go out with someone else. At first, you had taken that as Lily’s way of saying she wanted to break things off, but to your surprise, she had assured you that she loved you and that you were always going to be hers and the other way around. She just also happened to feel strong feelings toward James. The first week had been you wrapping your head around the idea of Lily being infatuated with James, and Lily spent that whole week reassuring you that she loved you whenever you were willing to actually listen to her without you replying with snarky comments.
The week after that had been about you finally coming to terms that maybe Lily was still understanding things about her, and maybe you were coming to terms with your own personal wants.
There were things that sometimes you needed to try to see if you were okay with that, and Remus Lupin had told you that when you explained to him what was bothering you during one of your many study sessions that week. He was clueless about what it all was, but he understood enough to manage to give you good enough advice.
And so, the day before the last trip to Hogsmeade, Lily approached James Potter with high spirits.
“Hey Potter!” shouted Lily as she jogged toward him. He was sitting with Sirius and Remus underneath a big tree.
Sirius, who had been talking with James, smirked toward James. He pushed Sirius away as he smiled up at Lily as she approached him.
“Evans,” James smiled brighter, “nice seeing you.”
“Yeah, umm, can I talk to you for a second?” she asked, a sudden batch of nervousness overcoming her.
“Sure,” replied James. But seeing that she was smiling at him and not saying anything, he understood that she had meant in private.
“Oh,” he looked back at his friends, “I’ll be right back.”
After they walked a little further away, Lily turned to face him.
“I’ll make this quick, Potter. Tomorrow, after everyone’s gone to Hogsmeade, go to my dorm room. The stairs won’t be a problem, so just go straight for my dorm room,” said Lily in a hushed rapid whisper. James looked at her with wide eyes, but before he could ask for some explanation, she spoke again.
“No, don’t ask questions. Just show up, and then decide whatever you want,” she turned to leave, but then she turned back around, “and don’t tell a soul about this, Potter, or I will hex you.”
She left, and James was left to wonder what in the hell Lily had prepared for him.
The next day, everyone awoke with high spirits as the day ahead of them promised a fun time. In the dorm where the Marauders were getting ready to leave, Sirius noticed that his best mate seemed to be awfully distracted.
“You alright, Prongs?” he asked with a teasing grin, one that rarely left his face. James looked at his friend and smiled.
“Of course I’m alright, why wouldn’t I be?” he said with a dismissive wave.
“Since your talk with Evans yesterday, you’ve been acting a little weird,” added Remus as he grabbed his house scarf. He was excited to finally get some more chocolate as his current stash was getting smaller.
“No, I haven’t,” James exclaimed.
“Yes, you have,” shot back all the other three marauders in unison. James only rolled his eyes. He hadn’t come up with an excuse to not go to Hogsmeade with his mate, and he could only hope that if he dared disappeared, they wouldn’t go looking for him.
At las, he managed to do just that. Right before he was out of the gates, he told them that his stomach had started to feel funny which had earned him confused looks because he had been completely fine minutes before. Nonetheless, he told them to head to Hogsmeade while he went to the restroom with the promise to meet them at the Three Broomsticks if he felt any better. Peter had shrugged and taken the excuse without any doubt to James’ words, but Remus and Sirius had an inkling that his sudden stomachache had to do with his talk with Lily.
After James had rid of his friends, he rushed back to Gryffindor Tower where he almost tripped when his feet caught on the stairs up to the girls’ dormitories. Once he was in front of Lily’s door, he inhaled deeply and exhaled as he knocked.
He was met with silence. James’ hands started to sweat, thinking that Lily had pulled a mean joke on him when her voice called him to come in.
With sweaty palms, he did. He opened the door to see Lily sitting on her bed, and right next to her was you.
“Umm, hi,” he said with an unsure smile.
“Close the door, Potter,” you said as you glared at him. It wasn’t a death glare, but it wasn’t one that could assure James that you wouldn’t curse him.
James closed the door, but he was too nervous to even ask if he could sit somewhere.
“You don’t have to stand there. Go ahead, you can take a sit on my chair,” you said while pointing at the black velvety chair you had next to your bed which was across Lily’s. He sat with cautious steps. He was more nervous than before, after all, he hadn’t expected to see you. But in all honestly, he wasn’t sure what to expect after Lily’s vague directions.
James sat, he swore his heart was beating faster than usual, his palms were shaking, and there was a voice in his head telling him to get out, yet his legs were going numb.
You noticed how nervous he looked which made you grin a little while you turned to look at Lily. She had a stoic face, but her body gave away how nervous she was too. It seemed that you were the only one who was feeling relax, which was odd as Lily had been the one to plan this; she had been the one to ask you to let this happen.
“James,” the man flinched as you called his name. Your voice, although relatively soft, was loud in the quiet room, “did Lily tell you why you’re here?”
He only shook his head. You rolled your eyes and looked at your girlfriend.
“You didn’t even give him a hint to what you planned for today?” you asked. She shrugged her shoulders.
“I told him to come to my room after everyone was gone, I was sure I was being obvious, Y/n.” She rolled her eyes. You huffed at her and turned back to see James, who still looked nervous.
“Do you have an inkling as to why you were invited here today?” you asked him. James shifted on his spot and nodded his head. Like for the umpteenth time, you rolled your eyes. “Use your words, Potter.”
“Um—” he swallowed hard, “—at first I didn’t think much of it, but then, last night, it kinda hit me that Lily had meant, umm, sex. But then I remembered that she has a boyfriend and decided that it was not that.”
He felt his face redden after his words came out, it seemed that saying them aloud had him feeling stupid. You only nodded your head.
“Well, she did mean sex. And she does not have a boyfriend, Potter,” you said the last part almost with a hint of annoyance which Lily picked up. She stifled a giggle at seeing how the word alone made your right eye twitch.
“But she—” started James practically glaring at Lily. You raised your hand to stop him.
“She doesn’t have a boyfriend, but she is taken, Potter.” You knew you were being unnecessarily mysterious, but how many times can one person get to have a quiet and flushed Potter in front of them?
“You see Lily and I are together, as in we’re girlfriends,” you said slowly. You saw how James’ eyes practically bulged at the news; his mouth went dry and partly agape.
“I know, shocking,” you said while making jazz hands, “I know Lily failed to mention that detail in your many chats this term, which is why this situation is a rather complex one.”
“How so?” James struggled to say.
“Well, for one, Lily asked you to join her tonight for a chance to sleep with her. Honestly, it’s beyond me why she couldn’t think of any other activity that might require intimacy other than sex,” you said as you gave your girlfriend a look of annoyance, yet it was endearing, “I suggested a romantic picnic to let you know her little secret and all, but she changed subjects and convinced me that I should open my mind to the idea of a threesome.”
If James were to have been drinking anything, he was sure he would have spit it out, which is why he only managed to choke on his own spit.
“Breathe, James,” you said as you stood from your spot and walked toward him, “look, I know it is a rather complicated offer as we are just throwing you all of this information in hopes that you will come up with an answer soon.”
“It’s not that, I just, why, umm why?” James couldn’t understand why he had been asked to come here in the first place if you two were a thing. Which you understood as his eyes kept looking back and forth, especially as Lily seemed to be just as nervous as him.
“Well, isn’t it obvious, Potter? Lily finally fancies you the way you fancy her,” you said with a devilish grin, “I thought it obvious by now. After all, I would have assumed that my distaste for you this term was clear and that maybe you figured out that I was jealous that she was actually enjoying your company and actually sought it out.”
James looked back at Lily who only gave him a sweet smile, he turned back to look at you as you showed a surprising new dominance. He knew you to be like Remus, quiet, studious, nice, but capable of being quick-witted and with a sharp tongue. But this was new, even Remus who fancied you, would be surprised to see you now.
“Trust me, It wasn’t easy to digest hearing my girlfriend confess that she likes a boy she swore she hated,” you said as you stood next to James, giving Lily a smile, “after that, she reassured me that she loved me, nonetheless. Granted, I didn’t believe a word from her after that, you know being jealous and angry doesn’t let you think straight. But I came around, after all, we are new to this dating thing, sure I’ve had partners before but not an actual relationship, especially since it’s not common for two witches to date, let alone be attracted to both men and women alike.”
James looked at you with a raised eyebrow. You rolled your eyes and gave him a wolfish smile.
“If you think I like you as Lily does, you are so mistaken, love,” you said while you grabbed his chin. Both your faces were so close that if Lily leaned to the left she could pretend you two had just kissed.
“I don’t fancy you, James, but I must admit that you are quite handsome.”
You let go of his chin and walked toward the middle of the room.
“So, given that Lily is shaking as much a Pettigrew when you catch him sneaking around, I’ll tell you what we have in mind, and you can decide whatever you want after,” you started. You waited until James nodded his head in understanding before giving him a somewhat soft smile.
“As you now know, Lily and I are together, and we’ve gotten the chance to explore ourselves a lot,” you held back a grin when James fixed his crotch, “that being said, we know what we want. You are here because Lily wants you, James. This means, there is no obligation to interact with me sexually, this is about Lily. But you need to be vocal throughout the whole thing, communication is a must. We don’t normally use a safe word, but for this occasion ‘cucumber’ is the safe word. You can use it too if you think is too much. Are you with me so far?”
“Umm, so Lily and I would be doing stuff while you do what exactly?” asked James.
“You’ll be pleasuring Lily just like I will, if you two want to start it off you can, or I can go first that way Lily is a little more relaxed, and I can join in, or you can after a while. We are experimenting here. This is not my first rodeo, but last time I was the only girl in the room,” you said. James looked at you as if he was seeing you in a new light.
“Alright, go on,” he said to you. You nodded.
“Well, that’s about it. But like I said, communication is key, so you want to do something? ask, and we’ll consider it, and sometimes we might get caught up in the moment, so we can let things happen but any of us can stop it whenever. Now, if you don’t want part of this at all, that’s okay too. But whether you walk out that door after doing it or not doing it, word of this doesn’t get out to anyone. This is between the three of us, and we can discuss it anytime because I’m sure Lily would love nothing more than to do it again if she likes it,” you said with a smile. If James or Lily were to describe the tone you were explaining everything, they would think they were in a lesson learning about charms and whatnot. You were weirdly comfortable with the situation.
“Alright, I’m in,” said James after a minute of silence. He still looked a little nervous which is why he still remained seated. “Umm, you two, umm, can start. I don’t think my body comprehends the situation yet.”
You huffed a laugh before looking back at Lily who nodded at you. With one last glance at James, you walked toward the bed and sat next to her.
You took Lily’s hands and your thumbs rubbed soothing circles on them. Lily let out a shaky breath which you reacted with a smile. Your right hand grabbed a hold of her usually pale cheeks and leaned in for a soft kiss. You could feel the slight hesitation at the small action, but soon, she relaxed into the kiss and didn’t lose time in kissing you back with ardor. Her soft lips were bruising yours the more she sought of you, and you could only grin into the kiss because this was her showing her appreciation for everything you were doing for her.
As the kiss increased in heat, Lily became restless on her spot on the bed, so you grabbed her waist pulled her to your lap. You maneuvered both of you in a position that allowed James a clear view of both of you. Smartly, Lily had chosen to wear a skirt with stockings, and as she sat straddling your lap, you could feel the heat from between her legs. Lily tangled her fingers in your hair, practically pulling your hair as she softly ground into you. You were enjoying the feeling of Lily letting her desire overcome her body as she seemed to be feeling the neediest. Your hands traveled to grab her full butt cheeks, and you received a moan and a slight bite from Lily.
You opened your right eye and from your position, you could see James. His mouth was slightly open, his elbows rested on his knees, and his breathing was hard. You weren’t sure if the man was losing his shit because this was the most cliché thing for a man to get turned on to, or because he was seeing Lily in such sexual state of mind that his brain couldn’t understand that it wasn’t a dream.
You grinned wider and this time your hands went up Lily’s body, and under her shirt. You groaned into the kiss as you realized that Lily had decided to not wear a bra. It’s beyond you how you didn’t notice she had gone braless. You moaned into the kiss as you palmed her small full breasts, feeling the heat her body was radiating.
Finally, Lily pulled back from the kiss after she had decided that air was needed. You took the opportunity to take off her shirt, revealing her breasts to you, and for the most part to James. This time the groan came from the man himself, Lily smiled at the somewhat nice reaction she got and moaned when your mouth started to leave a trail of kisses and bites from her jaw to her neck, to then leave red marks on her chest. Your hands meanwhile palmed her breasts and/or played with her pink-ish nipples. You loved to kiss and bite the spots where her freckles were darker. You loved her freckled body, as it allowed you to explore her body and leave her in a state of pure need for you.
Lily threw her head back when your lips wrapped around one of her hard nipples. Her hands tangled with your hair once again, and this time she opened her eyes to look at James, and this time the man was fully gaping and shifting on his spot a lot more than before. She gave him a naughty grin.
“You can touch yourself, James,” she said, her voice dripping with need as she rocked her hips on your lap and pushed her chest closer to your mouth. You opened your eyes to see Lily looking at James, and you turned your sight to him. James looked back at you as if seeking reassurance, and with a nipple between your lips, you nodded at him.
He let out a shaky sigh, similar to the one Lily had let out earlier, and hesitantly pulled his sweats down to his thighs. His dick sprung out, semi-hard, and Lily’s eyes practically bulged at the sight. You only hummed as the man was already to a good size and he was only semi-hard. Lily knew how to pick them. James grabbed his dick, and with tentative strokes, he pleasured himself to the sight of the girl he’s been pinning for years and her girlfriend. He was sure he was dreaming, and Sirius was about to wake him up and tell him off for making sex noises in his sleep.
Lily was enjoying herself, but she needed more, and you knew that. But you loved it when she begged for more, to be touched in places that on a normal day she would blush before the words could leave her. So, you waited until Lily’s needy moans turned into frustrated noises, to finally become hushed whimpers that swallowed her cute little pleas.
“You have to talk to me, love, otherwise I won’t know what you want,” you whispered on her neck as you bit on the sweet spot she had there. She quivered under your touch.
“I want more, Y/n, please, I want more,” she pleaded as she pulled your hair, thus your head moved back. You looked at her.
“What, Lily? Say it,” you demanded.
“I want—” she bit her lips and looked at you with her lust-filled eyes, “—I want James to be here with us too.”
You grinned at how everything about her screamed lust and need, while her voice still held certain innocence.
“You heard that James?” you looked at him and he nodded his head, a soft reply left his lips before you signal for him, “well, then come here, and take those pants off already.”
James quickly took off his shoes and his pants followed and seeing that wearing a shirt was pointless, he took it off too, leaving him to be the only one naked in the room. He was naked and outnumbered. You removed Lily from your lap and moved her next to you.
“On your knees, Lily,” you said as you stood up from the bed. You stood next to James, who looked almost out of place, and waited for Lily to face you both. Once she did, you took off your long-sleeve dress and threw it behind you, knowing that it piled with James discarded clothes. James glanced at you just like Lily, their eyes on your every move. You did not remove your underwear which caused Lily to pout. You gave her a kiss on the lips before you backed away and looked at James.
“Go ahead, kiss her,” you said to him. He gave you one look and then to Lily who was biting her lip expectingly. James approached her and Lily sat on her knees so he wouldn’t have to bend down so low. Their kiss was hesitant at first, and tentative touches on their faces and arms were just as soft as the kiss. You looked at them and you couldn’t help but feel like they belonged. There was a small pang of jealousy, but you shook it off, after all, you were dating Lily, she loved you and you loved her. So, for Lily, you took a deep breath before you walked around behind her. Their kiss started to increase in heat, but you told Lily to be on her fours before they could continue. She quickly did, her ass to your face and her face was in front of James’ dick. You heard a hiss and looked up to see James looking at Lily; she had grabbed his cock and was stroking him experimentally.
You pushed back Lily’s skirt. You could see the damp spot on her underwear, so you touched it with two of your fingers. Lily let out a whimper at the sensation.
“You’re so wet, love, and all we’ve done kiss,” you said while grabbing a handful of her left asscheek. She shook her ass a bit, and you smirked before landing a swift smack on the free cheek. She let out a yelp, while James let out a gasp. She had gripped him tighter. You massaged her asscheek for a minute before you landed another smack. This time James looked at you while you redden Lily’s ass, his eyes practically were dark behind his glasses.
“Tell me what you’re doing, sweetheart,” you said while toying with Lily’s covered sex. She moaned.
“I’m stroking James’ cock, he is so big. I can’t wrap my hand around him,” she said, her eyes never leaving the cock in front of her. It was totally different from those dildos she had bought to try out. He was warm on her hand, and pulsing, and leaking pre-cum. She was obsessed with it, and she hadn’t even tasted it. She knew you liked sucking dick every once in a while, and she had practiced with the dildos, but she didn’t know where to start now that she had one in front of her.
“How about you suck him off, sweets? But don’t let him cum, work him up nicely, I’m sure James won’t mind if you’re a little sloppy, right James?” you asked while your eyes found his.
“No, I don’t mind,” he replied with a husky tone. He was still nervous, but his own desire was taking over. It was only a matter of minutes before he would find his footing.
Lily nodded her head, reassuring herself that she could do it right, she gave a soft kiss to the tip of James’ cock. He hissed loudly at the contact of her cold lips against his hot tip, but then he was groaning when her lips wrapped around his heavy head.
“Fuck,” he cursed into his palm as his other hand grabbed the redhead’s hair. While Lily sucked and licked James’ cock, you pulled Lily’s underwear down her thighs, and she moved her legs as she helped you get them off. Once they were off, you laid on your back and position your face right above Lily’s dripping cunt. You could smell her strawberry lotion on her legs and her natural musk which made your own clit throb. Knowing what came next, Lily opened her legs wider, letting her cunt get nearer to your mouth. You pulled down the few inches she left, and your mouth was on her cunt in seconds.
Lily moaned around James, and the man had to try to control himself as the feeling of her moans was making his cock feel more feeling than ever before. He’s done sex and gotten many blowjobs before, but this was new. For one, it was Lily Evans who was sucking him off, and two, the same girl was getting her cunt eaten out by her secret girlfriend. And that was shocking in itself as James only knew you as Moony 2.0 for so long it was hard to understand this version of you. You were shocking him, and he could only feel the smallest twinge of guilt as he was getting to see a sight that Remus only could dream about. And Sirius, oh boy, if Sirius could see him he would self-combust because his brain would overload trying to understand the picture in front of him.
You were dancing with death as you ate Lily out, your mind having proclaimed breathing as overrated, your mouth and tongue worked nonstop as you sought to have Lily come undone in your mouth, on your face. Your tongue explored what it could of Lily’s cunt, taking in her harsh tang, which you were becoming addicted to the more you found yourself between her legs. It was a tiring job, but one you could do all day, to have her quivering above you while your tongue and mouth wrecked her in minutes, and without the need of your fingers which were as slim as hers. You had learned to make her jelly with your tongue, you could have her babbling nonsense in minutes, and you were obsessed with how she would ride your face as she came undone with shaky legs and loud moans.
And lord, she was close. The feeling of your tongue inside her cunt, trying to take in all the evidence of her desire, she was seeing stars with her damn shut eyes. Her clit was stiff, and every time it bumped on your nose, her legs would give out just a bit more. She was enjoying being eaten out by you, but she was also enjoying the way she was wrecking James with her inexperienced mouth. The man had stopped making sense a little ago, the usual coherent curse would leave his lips, and Lily was feeling more secure of her actions which had led her to try and have him deeper inside her mouth. She was gagging on his thick cock, practically bruising the roof of her mouth and her throat.
Lily started to lose control of her body, and her hips only knew to rock as your lips sucked on her clit while your tongue would lick whenever it could. Lily was so close to coming and it took one slap on her ass for her to grip James’ cock, pull back, and shriek your name as your mouth worked her through it while your arms held her still. James could only curse and thank Lily for her tight grip on him because he would have cum all over her face if she hadn’t. He was in paradise and so was Lily and you were the goddess who had allowed them in.
You pushed Lily aside, making her land on her back. You smiled at the sight of Lily breathing hard, while her spread legs allowed anyone to see the beautiful view of her pink cunt completely covered in saliva and her own slick and cum. She shivered at the cold air that was attempting to dry her bliss.
“You did so well, love,” you said while you gave a swift kiss to her belly while James’ hand removed the hairs that were sticking to her face because of her sweat.
“James, would you like to try something?” you asked him while you removed your bra and your soaked underwear. Lily perked up to that.
“Umm, I think we could all be benefited if Lily laid on her back like she is while I, umm—” “fuck her” “—yeah, fuck her while she returns you the favor?”
You looked back at Lily, and unsurprisingly, she was nodding in agreement to James’ proposition. You climbed up the bed while Lily turned to present her wet sex to James while she waited for you to sit on her face just like she had.
“Before we start,” you stopped your movements, “I feel like I should have asked this before, but you do take the cleansing pills right?”
The cleansing pills were the newer version of the cleansing/protection potion to prevent any type of sexually transmitted infections and prevented males from impregnating women while they took it daily. It was a fairly new product, but James was a man known to be somewhat sexually active, so you just needed to be sure. Besides, Lily would get to experience the feeling of someone ejaculating inside of her without fearing getting pregnant.
“Yes, I do. Even if I don’t do anything, it’s easier if I don’t stop taking it,” he said while positing himself between Lily’s legs. He was finally feeling comfortable, but it didn’t stop him from seeking reassurance. You smiled at him.
“Smart lad,” you said as you situated yourself above Lily’s face. She pulled you down to her mouth and you practically rolled your eyes back as she had decided to try and make you feel as wrecked as she did which you knew would be impossible as she was about to experience a very thick cock used her cunt. You knew the feeling, and after getting your cunt wrecked by Lily after a few times, you had decided that getting fucked thoroughly by a cock was the second best feeling in the world.
James teased Lily’s lips which had the girl twitching while she moaned around your clit. You played with your breasts while you looked down to see James push in the head of his cock. You felt Lily gasp as her tongue went inside your dripping hole. And she practically whined when two of your fingers started to rub on her stiff clit.
“You’re doing so good, sweetheart,” you said as you rubbed circles on her clit, making sure she was feeling good while James pushed the rest of his cock inside of her tight walls.
“Fuck, Lily, you feel so good,” groaned James as his dick was finally fully inside of her, spreading her walls around his thick cock. He could feel Lily’s cunt trying to swallow him whole, milk him for all his worth. Lily was whimpering underneath you and you could feel the breath of each silent plead hit your cunt.
“Talk a bit louder, baby, we can’t hear you,” you said soothingly as you kept rubbing her.
“You’re going to make me cum again,” she moaned as your fingers wouldn’t stop making her sensitive cunt feel the thick cock even more whenever she clenched trying to not cum too soon. But now that you knew what she had been whispering against you, you rubbed a little faster. And Lily bit your thigh as you managed to make her cum a second time, but the only difference was that she had James inside her, so deep, and all she could do was moan as she came around him. James grabbed your shoulder as he lost some of his balance at the feeling of Lily’s orgasm. He was trying so hard not to cum too soon, he feared that he might wake up before he got to truly fuck Lily Evans.
You pulled back as Lily regained her breath, and started to move her mouth again. You were dripping on her lips and all due to seeing her cum twice. James started to thrust slowly, allowing Lily to feel every inch of him before he lost his composure and fucked her into the bed before he could cum. You were enjoying Lily’s eager mouth and fingers that had joined in as she tried to make you cum for her, but you were also enjoying the sight of James’ cock progressively fucking Lily open. You looked up to see that James had been doing the same, and when he looked up, you both grinned like idiots because it was all too hot. You were about to say something when James came closer to your face, which allowed him to spear his cock deeper inside of Lily and allowed him to steal a kiss from your slightly parted mouth. It was a quick peck, but when he pulled back, he was only an inch away from your lips. You licked your lips before you grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him in for a deeper kiss.
If anyone dared walk in, they would see you making out with James Potter while the man had Lily Evans shrieking her moans while he fucked her open as she ate your cunt with fervor. It was a pornographic image, really. Lily’s black stockings were miraculously still intact, her skirt flipped over, while you and James were bare ass naked. You had to admit that you hadn’t thought of having a threesome with James Potter of all people, if anyone had to make you choose it would be Remus. The man radiated switch which would allowed you to be both your dom and sub persona. Atlas, Potter had been the one that had managed to get a front seat to your and Lily’s experimental relationship. You knew that after this, you and Lily would love each other still no matter what, but you had never been the one to see yourself as a one-person partner, and Lily hadn’t either but she had been the one to realize it before you. You would have to thank her for showing yet another new thing. And James was going to be a possible new presence, and what could stop you from convincing Lily to let Remus join in?
When you and James pulled back, you grinned like a maniac as an idea came to your mind. You pushed James back a bit so you could see how his dick fucked your girlfriend. You leaned down, your cunt still being abused by Lily’s teeth and tongue, and out of nowhere, your tongue started to give licks whenever at a spot where both Lily and James could feel your tongue. Both of them let out loud grunts as your tongue added to the delicious feelings they were already feeling. You felt James’ free hand grabbed your hair, which allowed you to better see what you were doing. You three kept that up until your legs started to quiver when Lily had managed to rapidly hit a certain spot, and before you knew it, you screamed a curse as you squirted all over Lily’s face. She didn’t stop fingering you which only made the mess greater, and not soon after you came violently all over, Lily kept shoving her fingers inside of you as she bit on your thigh again as she came around James again. And James couldn’t help but roar as he finally got to cum. Thick ropes of cum filling Lily, but she was soaking that mid-ejaculation, his dick was pushed out and the last spurts of cum landed on your tired face. Not that your half-aware mind cared.
James collapsed on the empty spot next to Lily while you threw yourself on the other side of her. The heavy sounds of breathing filled the room, the sounds of wet skin and moans were long gone but they still ringed in your ears.
You giggled as you realized that Lily was probably soaking wet all over her face and her hair probably had collected your first squirt.
“I’m sorry, Lils, I probably showered you,” you said as you felt your body heat up in embarrassment. She giggled too.
“It’s okay,” she said, “that was the hottest thing ever. I finally made you squirt.”
“The bed is soaked,” added James as he touched a pillow that had been victim to the event. You all laughed before the room fell into a comfortable silence. It didn’t last long, though.
“Remus would kill me if he found out what just happened here,” said James to himself, but the room was too quiet to go unheard.
“Why?” you asked curiously. Lily sat up to look at you.
“Well, he likes you, Y/n,” she said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, then she looked at James, “he would kill you because it wasn’t him who got to be part of this.”
“It would be the end of me,” said James dramatically. You laughed at the irony of it all, but then your smile turned salacious.
“You know, after we are out of here, I wouldn’t oppose offering the same deal to Remus,” you said. Half joking. After all, Remus had been your first choice.

Night Changes
This isn't based on an ask, but I've had some early-Cap ideas brewing and think about the first time the team heard him laugh a lot. His and James' friendship is so sweet in SW--the beginning of it must have been such a shock to them both. SW credit goes to @lumosinlove!
So maybe James had bitten off more than he could chew. It wasn’t the first time, to be sure, but coaxing (read: drag kicking and screaming) his new teammate out of the carefully-constructed mosaic of scowls that made up his entire personality was proving to be a little more challenging than he previously expected. With most rookies, all it took was some elbow grease and overenthusiastic inclusion in group events to get them to open up—with his brand-new soon-to-be best friend, he had to handle things a little more delicately.
Sirius Black was a puzzle wrapped up in one of those freaky code-breaking machines from World War Two Lily liked to talk about. He was one of the best hockey players James had ever seen, but off the ice he seemed to shut down. The intense focus on his face smoothed out into almost perfect neutrality, and in the four months since he joined the Lions, he had never once smiled for real in front of the team. He sat in his stall and padded up in silence, then went out and kicked ass before following Pascal home like a living shadow.
Naturally, James took it as a personal mission to pry Sirius Black’s closed-off persona open like a stubborn oyster. He tried including Sirius in group events—the rookie went along with a quiet “yeah, sure”, but sat at the table and nursed a single drink for the entire night. He tried getting into friendly banter with him on the ice, but it was like Sirius had never joked with anyone in his life. Hell, he even tried finding him a girlfriend, which tanked harder than the goddamn Titanic.
“Rookie!” James shouted down the hallway.
Sirius jumped and turned around, obviously confused. “Me?”
“Yes, you,” James laughed, jogging over to toss an arm over his shoulders. “What’s up?”
“Not much.”
He waited for Sirius to continue, then rolled his eyes and gave him a friendly shake. “C’mon, man, how was your weekend? Has Dumo coerced you into being a stay-at-home babysitter yet?”
Sirius’ frown deepened. “What? I come with him to practice every day.”
Change tactics, change tactics— “Got any plans for Friday?”
James knew the answer, of course; it was always no or not yet or a simple shake of the head. If he was a less observant man, he would have assumed Sirius didn’t actually want to hang out with the team. But the longing looks toward their easy rhythm and the way he always tilted himself toward locker room conversations told a different story. “None yet,” Sirius said with a shrug.
James gave him a friendly slap on the back. “Good, ‘cause I’m having a party at my place and you’re not allowed to miss it.”
“Why not?”
“Because I want you to be there, duh.” The bewilderment didn’t fade from Sirius’ face, but beneath it—well, maybe James was just seeing things, but he looked almost hopeful. He ruffled Sirius’ hair and headed for the locker room. “Friday at five, rookie! I’ll be waiting!”
--
The week passed in a slog of practices and cold weather. Sirius clammed up more and more as the party drew closer, but James didn’t miss the way his eyes flickered between the rest of them like he was analyzing a play. He would make one hell of a captain someday, if he could just relax a little.
“Hey, rookie, want a ride?” he asked when the big day finally arrived.
“Don’t you want to go home and set up first?” Sirius’ brow furrowed. For an eighteen-year-old kid, he was awfully thoughtful. James couldn’t wait to see him let loose a little. “I wouldn’t want to get in your way.”
“It’s a yes or no question,” he teased, poking the bit of exposed shoulder through the widening hole in Sirius’ under armor.
“I…” He faltered, then the corner of his mouth twitched up. It was the closest thing James had seen to a smile from him yet. One point for Potter. “Sure, Pots. Thanks.”
“No problem. Meet me at my car in five or so, yeah?”
“D’accord.”
“Oho, fancy French,” James laughed, turning back to unlace his skates.
It wasn’t until thirty seconds after Sirius left the room that he remembered he never told the rookie what his car looked like. Horrible, terrible visions of the poor guy wandering around the parking lot—or, god forbid, thinking James had left without him—flashed through his mind. It would undo everything he had been working so hard to build.
“Shit,” he hissed under his breath as he shoved his gear into his duffel with reckless abandon and hurried out of the locker room. His legs would be stiff from trying to run so soon after a grueling drill practice, but it was worth it to save his friend. “Rookie? Hey, Sirius, you still here?”
There was no response. James cursed again and made a beeline for the door to the parking lot. Please, God, don’t let him get lost. I need him to trust me.
“Oh, thank fuck,” he panted as he burst out onto the half-frozen concrete.
Sirius looked up from his phone with a strange expression. “Are you okay?”
“Thought I lost you for a sec.”
“You said to meet at your car, yes?” He glanced between James and the car in sudden worry.
“Yeah, yes, absolutely, I just—” He made an aborted gesture and dug his keys out of his pocket. “I realized I forgot to tell you which one is mine.”
Sirius blinked at him. “I know what your car looks like.”
“How?”
“Because you drive it here every single day and you gave me a ride three weeks ago.”
‘Dumbass’ went unsaid, but James could feel it hanging in the air. He coughed lightly. “Right. Anyway, you can toss your bag wherever and hop in the passenger seat. My place isn’t far from here.”
Sirius took his duffel as he unlocked the car and settled both in the trunk with more care than James’ poor, battered bag had ever seen in its life. That was another thing that confused him about Sirius Black—he was so careful. He walked quietly for someone so tall, and each movement seemed pre-planned.
Each movement, that is, until he tried to get in the car. “Uh, Pots?”
“That’s m—oh.” James covered his mouth to stifle his laughter as Sirius tried to fold himself into the passenger seat and failed miserably. “I’m sorry, my girlfriend was sitting there last. Uh, there’s a lever on your right—yeah, there, just give it a pull and—”
With a harsh ka-chunk, the seat slid all the way back. Both men froze. It took everything in James’ power not to burst out laughing at the deer-in-headlights shock on Sirius’ face.
“Yep, that one,” he managed. “Nice job.”
They drove in relative quiet—James chattered on about weekend plans and hummed to the radio while Sirius watched out the window with the occasional monosyllable response. It took James a bit by surprise how comfortable he was, even without a steady stream of banter. Sirius might have been stubborn and silent and determined to foil all James’ plans at getting him to socialize, but he was calming to be near, like an anchor on unsteady water. Despite his overall quiet air, he was obviously paying attention to every word that left James’ mouth.
“You’re a good guy, y’know that?” he said as they turned onto his street. Sirius glanced over in surprise. “Most people tune me out within, like, five minutes.”
“I’m a good listener.”
James opened his mouth to respond, then paused. “Was that—Sirius Black, was that a joke?”
Something akin to mischief—mischief!—crossed his face. “Maybe.”
“Were you roasting me?” James gaped at him. “Oh my god. The guys are never gonna believe this.”
“Probably not.”
“You sick bastard. They won’t believe me.”
“You can give it a shot,” Sirius said with a shrug as the engine turned off. Pieces began to connect in James’ head as he stared, incredulous, at the rookie he thought would never even crack a smile. Four months of work had not been wasted, as he had feared; every joke, every one-sided conversation, and every attempt to get Sirius involved had been seen and heard and taken to heart. When he thought about it, he wasn’t sure he had ever seen Sirius actively agree to something unless James asked personally.
“We’re friends,” he said aloud, too surprised and too happy to hold it in. Not friends in the way James was with the rest of their loud, over-the-top teammates, but friends all the same.
“Well, yeah,” Sirius said as if it was obvious.
James unbuckled his seatbelt and socked him lightly on the shoulder, barely suppressing a shriek of excitement. “Love you, man. Grab your shit, we’ve got a party to set up.”
----------------
As much as it pained James to say it, having someone around who was six-foot-three was a huge help. There was no blow to his pride as he dragged Lily’s stepstool out; no grudging acceptance that he simply couldn’t reach those last two inches on the wall. Instead, he could foist any and all responsibility on his brand-new best friend in the whole wide world and focus on the things that mattered, like putting anything breakable or important far away from the grubby hands of his inebriated teammates.
His success was still ringing in his ears when the guests finally arrived—throughout the evening, James rode the high of accomplishing his mission to pull Sirius Black into his tight-knit circle. Every minute of those four months was worth it.
Midnight came and went, and by one-thirty in the morning James’ cramped living room was packed with tipsy hockey players in a vague imitation of a circle. “Non, non, I’ve gotta good one,” Dumo said, hiccupping. The room fell quiet as he leaned forward. “What do you call a body of water with a chicken in it?”
“What?” Kasey whispered, starry-eyed like a kid at Christmas.
“A swimming pool.”
The room stayed quiet, and then someone started to laugh. Slowly, they all turned to the source of the noise, and James felt a ripple of shock roll through the team as Sirius snorted. “It’s a swimming pool,” he said around a smile, his accent thick from three drinks. He had a nice laugh; James could get used to hearing it. “Like—poule, like chicken?”
His whole face was alight with happiness. James wasn’t sure whether to cry or cheer. That’s what I’ve been waiting for, he thought. That look, right there. Sirius fit in among the group like a missing piece of their puzzle, snickering away as if he hadn’t been stoically silent a day in his life. His laugh was downright bubbly.
“I don’t think they get it,” Dumo said into the rim of his cup.
Sirius shook his head, trying to catch his breath. “D’accord, so—so ‘chicken’ in French is poule, yeah? So a chicken in a body of water is a swimming poule. Do you get it now?”
A few oh’s of understanding washed over them, but several people continued to stare. “Too drink for this,” Sergei grumbled, though James could see the smile pulling at his mouth as Sirius turned to him with bright eyes.
“But it’s funny!” Sirius protested, so earnest it made James’ heart hurt.
“I think it’s funny, rookie,” he assured him with a clumsy pat on the arm. “And it’s my house, so I say Dumo gets a point this round.”
Kasey hiccupped. “Hey, anyone who makes the rookie laugh gets points in my book. No offense, dude.”
“None taken,” Sirius said, though his cheeks were pink.
James nudged him with his shoulder as Talker started a knock-knock joke. “It’s okay,” he said under his breath.
Sirius picked at the label on his cup. “I know I haven’t been very social,” he muttered.
“It’s okay,” James insisted. “It always takes rookies a while to warm up, so we’re just glad you’re happy. I’m glad my best friend is having a good time at my party.”
A heavy silence fell between them as Sirius looked over, eyebrows raised. “Best friend?”
“What, like you didn’t see this coming?” James slung an arm over his shoulder. “Yes, you French-Canadian nerd, you’re my best friend. And that means I’m your best friend, and there’s no take-backsies.”
“What the hell is a take-backsie?” Sirius laughed. “Did you make that up?”
James grinned. He had the feeling this was the beginning of an excellent friendship.
