Caine - The Game Master, Archangel Glycon
The man, the myth, the legend, the AI is here! Locked in through my migraine yesterday because I had nothing else to do but sit in silence and darkness and try to distract myself (thank god for Triptan /hj)
Caine's essentially full-filling a similar role to OG Caine in the Archangel AU, he's the "ringmaster" (or game master for the AU) and is in charge of constructing a random puzzle every day for the humans to solve.
Despite being way less free than he appears to be in TADC (until now) and fairly void of emotion or emotional connection to any of the human avatars there is a certain... mystery surrounding him.
A little excerpt from the story I've written so far containing him below *eyes* >:]]
Dressed in red, the blood clinged and hugged her body like a cloak made from viscous liquid, dripping down in seeming stop-motion, droplets taking their sweet time. Almost as sweet as the smell, gone was the metallic and iron nature that usually went hand in hand with blood.
Caine watched her, a faint tilt to his ‘head’, the eye observing without blinking just once in all of these hours passing, trying to figure out this enigma of a human’s mind. Seemingly doing nothing at all, his own program and coding were running to the point of overheating the system. Fans whirring and coming to life, almost like the AI itself, its intentions unclear to the watching user.
Yet, there was no one there to see the show happening. The wooden chair in front of the desk was abandoned in search of human need, food, drink, whatever necessary to keep him afloat for his mission.
Caine had realized this window of opportunity quite easily - and he was keen on using it, abusing even. Who else would there be to stop him but his own decision making?
Again, his attention drifted back to the figure in front of him, the blood now disappearing like vapor over a heat source, indicating that it had worked - to a certain degree. Something was missing, something essential.
He had never coded a personality before. Humans were quite complex in their making, did they even have something akin to code to hold their souls, their beings?
Caine knew that their biology and brains were easy to recreate, even though he had barely interacted with them outside of watching their almost fruitless attempts at solving the puzzles. This one however… he felt a strange, distant sense of connection to her. She had tried to break out from the ordeal, though it had been a freak accident.
Leaving the constraints of the building, leading to her death, unavoidable. He had tried and failed numerous times by now. To Caine, these failures were merely setbacks. Nothing to shed a tear over like humans would say, for he had no emotion outside of curiosity to satisfy.

Largely agree. S2 Act 1 is... wobbly, and certainly has some missteps and/or is plagued with some of the same issues as the rest of the season (breakneck pace, montages as an excuse not to write story, Isha's existence, yeeting Ekko, Jayce, and Mel into the shadow realm because they had to erase them from existence for the rest of the plots to work, etc.). But it is, more or less, a believable escalation of events in the aftermath of the S1 finale.
Zaunites are emboldened by the Council attack; Jinx and Sevika grieve Silco; Jinx oscillates between depressed and murderous; the chem-barons start infighting over the power vacuum; Jayce hexcores Viktor in a panic; Jayce faces an actual consequence! for a whole minute! for the child he murdered!; Jayce does yet another 180 on his stance on hextech weapons; Piltover starts striking back at Zaun; Ambessa and Mel play games of politics and intrigue against one another, jockeying for influence over the direction of the city; Caitlyn crashes out after her mother's death, removes #ZaunLivesMatter from her bio and convinces Vi to help her take out Jinx and do police brutality; Ekko discovers just like Vander that 'keep your head down and do mutual aid' is ultimately doomed as a solution to oppression, because it all falls apart the second Piltover gets its knickers in a twist and/or poisons the tree you depend on for shelter, food, and air.
Check, check, and check. I might have hated some of those decisions (removing Viktor's agency; Heimer still being the fucking worst and also having zero reaction to his Council being bombed; ISHA), some of the characterisation might have been a bit iffy, etc. etc. But I could still look at the show as a whole and mmmmostly go, "Yes, this makes sense as a sequence of events; these are plausible ways these characters would be reacting to what happened in S1; the writing is much worse, but it broadly feels like a coherent continuation of the first season."
The problem was that we all thought that Act 1's problems stemmed from needing to rush to get all their pieces on the board and in position for this set-up to build into a thrilling second act and a bunch of really satisfying payoffs in the third act.
Lol.
Lmao, even.
The thing about Act 1 of season 2 is that, while in context with the rest of s2 it was bad, they actually did set up a good story and continued season 1 pretty amazingly.
There were still some problems but genuinely most of those problems stem from the rest of the Episodes not delivering and not on the first 3 setting stuff up.
Act 1 giving us the tree being sick? Really good idea, perfect set up even the connection between the hextech and it being sick? Nice as fuck. It's what they did with it (nothing) and how it didn't matter (at all) that destroys Act 1.
Caitlyn's set up was absolutely not bad, and a lot of people were praising it. It made sense for her character and it also didn't seem like they thought she was right. Not with all the other episodes after Act 1, though. Contrary to populer believe I like morally not so good (evil) characters if they make sense. Caitlyns narrative was promising to be interesting they just didn't do anything with it and acted like what she did in Act 1 was fine and excusable and alright. It wasn't. Had they actually done something with what they set up with her, well I wouldn't be standing here now.
They also promised this season being a Vi focused season and while I would say that Act 1 did actually give us a lot of Vi, in context with the other Acts... no. In hindsight there was no need to make her an Enforcer. "But the lore-" I'm gonna stop you right there, they also completely changed Viktors lore, and even Jinx' lore. So?
CaitVi was also something that, in Act 1, I was way more ready to get behind. I was a CaitVi shipper in season 1, I did like their dynamic and wanted it explored. I liked their kiss. I did not like what they did after that. Not Caitlyn hitting Vi and then getting to hit her again and never apologizing. I am a lesbian and here I am telling you: Everything that happened with them was weird.
Act 1 also gave us this genuine good found family between Isha, Sevika and Jinx. It was so moving and well done even in such short of a time (there is still stuff to criticize about it but the consensus is that it is awesome so yk I can overlook certain stuff). And then they turned around and wrote Sevika completely out of the story and killed the plot device that was Isha. When Isha should have mattered.
I didn't even originally dislike how many new characters they introduced because season 1 once mastered characters like this. Maddie seemed promising, until she wasn't. Loris seemed interesting and well thought out until he wasn't. Lest was such a good addition until she was just written out of the show completely. Don't even get me started on Steb.
Ambessas ploy in Act 1 was also something that I genuinely liked. Even Mel figuring out a mystery was good. Until they decided "well that doesn't matter anymore".
In Act 1 I did actually like the subtleties. I liked how Caitlyn saw the Violets and how, in episode 3 of s2 she saw one through her rifles lense (I have no idea what that is called, sue me haha) floating over Jinx. Because it was a nice add on and nothing that would destroy your viewing experience if not noticed, and it wasn't on the nose.
While a lot of directions they took, I was already questioning (the Smeech stuff took up way too much time) I was ready to give that a pass because it didn't destroy anything, yet.
Up until episode 4, it all seemed well enough, and while the prison scene also made me question stuff (that god damn Enforcer pants joke oh my god I will never let that go what was that) it wasn't anything too bad, yet.
The reason Act 1 doesn't work now is because of Act 2 and Act 3. Had Act 1 stood alone or had Act 2 and Act 3 delivered on Act 1, we wouldn't have that much of a problem. As it is the further Acts destroy what Act 1 seemed to carefully build up.
In the end what seemed purposefully and artistically done in Act 1 now seems like something the writers actually believe.

Saw Sonic 3 tonight…. Holy Shit
I have a lot of thoughts, and a lot are really good, I had a blast watching it and I will be going to see it again.
I do however have one “complaint” I guess? Spoilers under break
I need to talk about Maria. But I want to start my little rant with *I did not dislike how Maria was handled in the movie* I quite enjoyed everything she was in. As a stand alone story in the movies, it was awesome (and personally seeing the movies as a sort of au makes the most sense for me). But I want to talk about how one character decision changed a significant amount of Maria and Shadow’s story. (Among other thoughts and things I noticed)
Maria was not explicitly stated to be sick,
It actually seems like she wasn’t sick at all.
Which I feel takes away a lot from Shadow’s creation/discovery.
Shadow in the games was created to be a cure for Maria’s N.I.D.S (Neuro-Immune Disorder Syndrome) his excess chaos energy was a byproduct of being created using Black Arms dna. He was never meant to be a weapon, he was meant to heal.
Maria cared for Shadow beyond just “this will cure me” she and Gerald saw him as himself. He might have been just a cure to Gerald at first, but Maria saw Shadow, not a weapon, or a cure, or an alien, she saw Shadow.
G.U.N saw a weapon, which is why they had to take him, and cut down anyone in their way.
By removing Maria’s sickness, you don’t have any reason for the Ark to exist, and you also don’t need to “create” Shadow. Shadow had to be dropped into the story (kinda literally as he fell from the sky) for him to have a reason to be there.
Maira and Shadow’s relationship in the movie doesn’t have quite the same impact. It even feels kind of… generic? I guess? That the “child” character doesn’t see the “monster/weapon” as one and befriends them. Maria being there isn’t nearly as justified as in the games. “Her grandfather brings her everywhere” and I get why, but still. Even if there was one line of “she gets sick easy, so the professor wants to keep an eye on her.” Instead of just “yeah they go everywhere together”. (Once again, I didn’t hate the version of their relationship in the movie, this is just a comparison to the games)
Maria not being off world also takes away from Shadow’s motivations. Maria wanted to see the world, she wanted to meet the people, and experience everything! She cared so much about a place that would cause her harm just by existing there. No matter what happened, she believed with all her heart that the people of earth deserved to live life to the fullest, even if she couldn’t. So when Shadow gets reminded that he was meant to protect and heal, he chooses to save the world Maria cared so much about.
Movie Maria’s death feels like she was caught in the crossfire for no reason, which, in its own way, has a big impact on Shadow’s arc. She had so much life to live, she was his sister, she didn’t have to die, which fueled Shadow’s hate.
Movie Shadow’s motivations for saving the day are different from game Shadow’s. His motivation is fueled by hate, and hurt, and by love. He hesitates when he hurts Tom after mistaking him for the General. He hurts watching Sonic live a similar horror to what he did. Just like Sonic has to learn, no one wins with revenge, everyone just keeps getting hurt, and he might have wanted to hurt them, make them pay for what they did, he doesn’t want to hurt. He still chooses to heal, and to protect. Maria haunts him in the way a dead star still shines for us, guiding him even though she’s gone, to show love instead of hate and hurt.
They’re both executed phenomenally, and both work in their respective stories, personally, I prefer how the game handled it, but that’s just me. And it’s so interesting to see how different yet similar the two are. The main take away is that all movie Shadow knew was that he was a weapon and chose to actively go against that, while game Shadow knew he could heal as well as hurt.
I will forever cry over the “they’re children!” Line, because… yeah… Shadow and Maria were children, who should have never gone through what they did, I need to hug them and put them back in their blanket fort with a new movie and some snacks.
And this is less of a movie/game comparison, but more so the representation of Maria’s illness. A lot of the time, we see Maria as full of life and energy, but various media like Gerald’s journal, dark beginnings, and the Shadow Campaign in generation has told us she doesn’t always have it that good. She has days where she can barely move, or she’ll need a mobility aid, or she’ll be incredibly sick even with the Arks gravity and atmosphere. Chronic illness’ don’t always impact you the same every day, but you’re still ill, even if you can’t see it, and Maria has become pretty good representation for that, which makes me kinda sad that it was dropped for the movie.
(I feel like my ramblings don’t make sense towards the end? So I think it’s a bit more just, thoughts about the movie and the game. Thanks for reading this far btw :) )

Hello, dear readers!
The myth in the original story left many of us with a heavy heart, its tragic ending lingering like a shadow in our minds. I found myself yearning for solace, for a version of the tale where love and hope triumph over despair. This fanfic is my humble attempt to rewrite that narrative—not to erase the original, but to offer an alternate ending that can ease the ache left by the tragedy.
Here, I imagine a world where our beloved characters find the happiness they deserve, where the bonds they share are unbroken, and where their love transcends all obstacles. If, like me, you wish for a happier resolution to their story, I hope this fanfic brings you comfort and a sense of peace.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s heal together through this short story.
A Love Rekindled.
Y/N wakes up from a nightmare, finding herself lying in the abyss.
Y/N: Why am I here? Where is my dragon? Sylus, where are you?
Tears stream down her face as fragments of  nightmare resurface. She remembers her nightmare Sylus was standing on the brink of death before she was plunged into the abyss. In her sleep, the echoing words of despair haunt her: "My dragon is gone."
Y/N: Is Sylus really dead? I...I couldn’t save him... No, this can’t be true...
Overwhelmed, Y/N begins to sob uncontrollably.
Y/N: Come back, Sylus, please... You can’t leave me! You promised our souls were bound together. How could you break that promise, my beloved?
Suddenly, a shadow appears, but this time it’s not the form of a beast. It’s a silhouette—human, yet enigmatic.
Y/N: W-who’s there?
Shadow: Don’t you recognize me?
The voice is deep and soothing, making her heart skip a beat.
Y/N: Why does your voice feel so... familiar?
Before she can process it, the shadow vanishes, leaving her shaken.
Y/N: Was that Sylus? If it was, why didn’t he appear fully? He wouldn’t just leave me like this…
Abruptly, the shadow reappears, encircling her waist and pulling her close. Her breath hitches as her eyes meet a pair of crimson-red ones.
Y/N: Sylus? Is it really you?
Her tears turn to ones of joy as she clings tightly to him, but Sylus winces slightly.
Y/N: Did I hurt you?
Sylus: No, my love. You could never hurt me. It’s just… the wound from the sword in my chest.
Y/N: What?! Someone tried to kill you? Why don’t I remember anything?
Sylus: It doesn’t matter, sweetheart. I’m alive, and that’s what’s important.
Her hand instinctively moves to his chest, caressing it gently. But as she does, flashes of a buried memory surface. She sees herself pressing a sword into Sylus’s chest, his guiding hands steadying hers. She collapses, trembling.
Y/N: No… It was me? I-I could never harm you!
Sylus: Shh, kitten. You didn’t kill me. I made you do it. It was the only way to end the curse. You couldn’t bring yourself to do it, so I guided your hand. See? I’m no longer a dragon. The curse is gone. I’m human now—completely yours.
Y/N breaks into uncontrollable sobs, burying herself in his embrace.
Y/N: Do you know how hard it was to stand there? I thought I lost you forever. I wanted to die with you.
Sylus: Our souls are bound, my love. We will live and die together. No one can separate us. Let’s leave this abyss. I’m taking you somewhere special.
With a kiss on her forehead, Sylus takes Y/N to a vibrant city filled with shimmering lights and lively streets.
Y/N: This city… It’s beautiful. Are we staying here?
Sylus: Yes, but first, there’s something I want to show you.
He leads her to a garden bursting with colorful blooms, reminiscent of a dream she once had.
Y/N: This… This was in my dream.
Sylus smirks, his voice soft.
Sylus: I know, kitten. I saw that dream too. We share the same dreams. But now, we can make it real.
Overcome with emotion, Y/N cups his face, but Sylus gently pulls her down, rolling with her into the field of flowers. She finds herself atop him, their laughter mingling with the scent of blossoms.
Smiling, she places a flower in his hair and another on his chest.
Y/N: Only this flower and I are allowed to touch you here.
Sylus chuckles, plucking a flower and tucking it into her hair.
Sylus: And only you can touch my heart.
Blushing, Y/N feels her heartbeat quicken. She leans closer, their lips meeting in a deep, passionate kiss. As they pull apart, Sylus kneels before her, holding a ring.
Sylus: Will you marry me?
Y/N: Is that even a question? Of course, I will!
Sylus lifts her into his arms, spinning her like a princess.
Sylus: You’ve made me the happiest man alive, my love. I adore you.
Y/N: And I love you too, Sylus.

honestly very obsessed with the idea that matt reeves may actually managed to create a movie that is the perfect encapsulation of robin's thematic importance to the batman mythos accidentally.
like. he just did that entire movie. and did not realize he was actually talking about robin. made a whole entire movie showing batman as a protector of children and the need for a symbol of hope alongside the symbol of fear. and apparently did all of that while not thinking of robin the entire time. like. he was just "yeah the batman does need something to balance the violence with his genuine and sincere desire to do good" and somehow missed the eighty year old character that answers the question he poses at the end of the movie.
just. what an unhinged way to approach batman. my disappointment for a lack of robin is currently overpowered by the sheer fascination of the idea of matt reeves seemingly understanding and agreeing with the importance of robin but like. only on a theoretical level. because he also does not think robin is important enough to be part of the story.
i want to study this man like a bug.

I know everyone wants stories with happy endings, and they all hate when the main characters die, and insist well what's the point of the story then, it didn't matter at all! they died!
but.
I don't know. do the stories of those who die at the end not matter at all?
because if that's the case, I have news about the stories told by everyone who has ever lived in this world.
we all die at the end. we are all doomed by the narrative.
but our stories still matter.

as much as i enjoy the more wholesome fantasy high parents like jawbone and sklonda and the thistlesprings there’s something so compelling and achingly real about bill seacaster that makes him my favorite. he and fabian have a relationship that is so deeply unhealthy and entrenched in distorted ways of viewing other people and parenthood and the world, and yet is so fiercely and undeniably loving. like, is bill seacaster a good dad? what does being a good dad even mean for someone like bill? bill seacaster has such unrealistic and toxic expectations of fabian and a myopic, entirely self-centered way of relating to him for most of his life, and yet, you truly get the sense that even if fabian disappoints him again and again and never steps out of his shadow and never becomes the man bill wants him to be, bill will never love him any less than completely and unconditionally. bill seacaster is a man who has built his entire life and sense of identity around doing whatever he wants and never facing consequences and never thinking about anyone else. bill seacaster becomes disappointed in his son. and he finds the idea of that so unacceptable that, instead of demanding that fabian meet his expectations, bill loves him so much that he reconsiders his entire concept of himself and the purpose of his life, and he grows. a man whose legacy and identity was based around selfishness and narcissism and unwillingness to bend, and fabian makes him change.

oh im obsessed with this actually… who ever wrote this one i am kissing u on the forehead and hugging you real tight… inigo is such a loverboy im kkkhhhhhhijnsdnfng
#ann plays awakening#EDITING TO SAY I STARTED TAG VENTING HIT READMORE AT YOUR OWN RISK#anyways#LAST LINE IS A KILLERRRR WOW#‘ann werent you just pairing olivia with thar—‘ OLIVIA IS A BUSY WOMAN OKAY#but also i just had this old save file from when i wanted to see pink inigo and decided to get some more supports#im obsessed actually like#ok tag venting time maybe this should be its own post but u guys know who i am#not only does this support in my very educated opinion do a good job at emulating inigo’s way of speaking#but i think theres also a very underrated characteristic he has that not a lot of people talk about and its that hes honestly quite morbid#him spending hours talking to and dancing with his mother’s grave is very beautiful and moving but it is also not a normal way to grieve#which makes sense because duh nothing about his life is normal but its j like. you know#if robin is his father (and maybe j the normal convo i dont remember) in the hot springs scramble he’ll insist upon bringing—#severed risen limbs home as a way to remember the peacefulness (lol) of the springs#and he thinks absolutely nothing of it!!#i think he gets attached to things just a little too intensely and because his life is surrounded by death how he expresses that can be#very interesting. and he talks about death all time more than the other kids#bc while a lot of their coping mechanisms are based in fear and the need to instill confidence in themselves (think cyn or gerome or owain#or sev or yarne or noire)#and how their SCARED of death and of loss and adapt different behaviors to act like theyre not (to varying degrees of success)#i think inigo is much more accepting of the fact that death follows him and has made it a normal presence in his life#which is not a good thing it means that he hasnt let himself grieve. he lets death hang over him and follow him instead of pushing back#also guess which one of the awakening trio in fates has the canonical story death. just by the way lmao#anyways bc im writing this in the tags on my phone i cant actually see what the hell ive been saying im j stream of consciousnessing this#but my point is that inigo has a weird fixation on death and dying that stems from his inability to make peace with death and grieve#and i think him idolizing death in this support (this BRILLIANT fan support that made me ill) is so in character and so lovely#i miss him so bad (hes literally in the photos im posting) grghhhrgah#i wuv him :(

love it when a character that's hard to read intuitively for you has like a dedicated fandom interpreter who can just glance at their blank face in a panel and then give you a 3k word essay on their innermost thoughts & desires & fears and neatly tie it back into the themes & whatnot as if it's the most obvious thing in the world
#im talking about griffith btw#guts i feel i get intuitively - maybe because i have some personality traits in common with him#and we get more about his life concretely told to us in canon. so he is a bit easier to pin down as a character and feel attached to for me#but whenever i was reading the manga i just kept wanting more insight about griffith's actions and feelings#like ok yeah its fun to have mysterious antagonists and suspense /tension etc but its also fun to feel like you deeply understand them too#and i felt like that was a bit missing from him for me in canon#so reading about him in analysis and fics is the most fun for me rn#he always felt kinda half unreal to me- which maybe was the point of him - but i wanted a bit more about his childhood or something?#and wished we had more stuff explicitly from his pov in the story to read or explanation about his transformation or wtv#and now he's so much more closed off to me even than he was in the golden age. i keep waiting for him to explain stuff and he does not#ANYWAYS all this rambling to say some people out there are very good at interpreting him and making his like. insecurities#more obvious to me bc i didnt really get that side of him from canon intuitively well#also im really enjoying reading the first few berserk fics ive read#there may not be a ton of them out there but there is def writing talent in the fandom#i'll share some recs once i'm done sifting through most of what's out there to read#also (not to tie everything back to death note but it IS my home fandom after all)#i feel griffith is obvs the more light-like character here and L maybe a bit guts-like? but unlike berserk in death note#light is the one you get to know best and L is the mysterious / unreal one you don't get a lot of concrete insight into#and in the DN fandom I can read the more mysterious character intuitively but had to warm up to the less mysterious one instead#and the mystery of L makes sense to me and doesnt bug me as much due to like - he HAS to hide a lot about himself or else he will die lol#so some similarities there but also some opposite feels as well#berserk spoilers#p

I'm so mad that so far the only good robin!jason content i've ever found is his original run. Everything i've seen since has just been making him out to be the Angry Bad Problem Child and victim blaming him for dying. How is it that the only fucking good characterization of him is 20 issues from the 1980s
#my dc posting#jason todd#dc#jaybin#robin jason todd#i love jaybin so much but by god there is no fucking content#ppl are just obsessed w making him out to be Bad and Angry to make him becoming red hood make more sense in their heads#look thats what he was always going to be. that what he was always on the track for. look at how angry and unstable he was#SHUT UPPP#from comics anything told to me abt his time as robin after his death means nothing to me#everyone has a different version of canon in their mind and mine will never include a single bit of info abt jaybin said after his death#i have the most horrible brainrotting ''he would not fucking say that'' abt jaybin. nobody gets him like i dooo#<- said as someone who has been angry and problematic and difficult since a young age bc of trauma and mental illness and shit#AND JASON WASNT EVEN HALF AS BAD AS ME#im gonna go reread his og robin run. my safe space#sorry im being soooo annoying abt jaybin rn i just. i love him#i feel like most people only see jaybin as the precursor to red hood#jaybin is only worth something as the backstory of red hood#which like. its fine to like the red hood version of him most#but i like jaybin :( he's my robin. like if there's a robin in a story i'd want it to be jason#so many fics would be sooo good to me if they did not unnecessarily have jason arguing with bruce abt the no-kill thing while STILL ROBIN??#like what are we doing thereeee#ok sorry im done being annoying and venty and whiny now

i really like the concept of Percy outright hiding someone in his flat during the war but like it doesn't fit well with most of the people I ship him with
Like the ones i could actually think of that would benefit from it are mostly ones that would be too young to really be having much happen between them during that year
which im not saying the situation can't be just platonic because that is fun too
Like with Oliver it loses out on what makes a forced proximity fic fun to me because of them having already roomed together for years so there's no like weird phase of having to get used to the other being around and having to learn to live with them
similar situation for Penny honestly they've already been together so while i do like the idea of her staying with him its not as fun for a ship set up to me
Marcus doesn't really have a reason to be staying with him, like he could but he's not going to be in a life or death situation if someone sees him so it doesn't have the same like flavor.
Stan is fun i think if you play with him being imperioused and Percy somehow breaking him out of it or something and having him stay with him after that could be fun. Hiding him to keep him from getting imperioused again or worse outright killed
plus then you get to play not only with the fact he was in Azkaban and effects it had on him as well as the trauma of anything that happened while he was under
which is fun

I have truly never seen so much discourse for a hero/anti-hero that kills until I started liking jason todd. I have literally never seen so many people get hate for not condemning a fictional character who kills bad guys until now its shocking! and I mean that literally
maybe I’m the one missing something but there are plenty of heroes (not antiheroes but HEROES) who exist that choose a lethal method and people take that in stride? the only way I can make sense of this is that people are so attached to batman and his mythos; they literally imprint on him and his thinking ?? and now any slight against him or challenge against his righteousness is taken as if its a slight against them.
at the end of the day, to me, you can still support jason being lethal because the fictional characters hes killing aren’t actually dead. in this sense, specifically, I don’t see why real life morals should be applied to a comic world. he’s not killing out of bigotry and if he was, I would get the controversy! but if you can agree with brutally beating and invasions of privacy in the dcu because it’s “morally correct” within the universe, I can’t see an argument against jason’s methods being morally wrong as valid unless those views are applied to every aspect of batman comics. if we did that, then everyone who continued reading these comics would be getting the same treatment jason todd fans do. you cannot hold one character accountable to real life moral views and not the other(s)!

ive talked like 32893882 times already (and its still NOT ENOUGH) abt how upset i was abt nobara's death cos she was such a good character, with so much potential!! i really REALLY liked her. she was funny, strong, confident and kind!!!! i loved her char design!! her cursed technique and weapon were cool as hell!!!!!!
and her (recently SOMEWHAT(?) confirmed(?)) death sucked so fucking much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
she was just. fucking fridged. as much as it pains me to admit it. from a narrative standpoint, she died so yuuji would get upset and further develop his character & then move the plot along. even mahito admits that he wants her to die to make yuuji suffer. like yeah he also recognizes her a strong opponent (ofc. cos she is) but at the end of the day he wanted to kill her just to wreck yuuji. and he succeded.
nobara has no say on the way she dies. she's just.. slapped, kinda. its so sudden. its so... weird. not that she's accepting of it (we already know that she knows she can die at any moment and she's ready for it (cos she's a freak like the rest of the sorcerers lol)), but its weird bc its like its not a personal moment for her. yeah we get a flashback & her speech about how, even tho she always was a person who refused to let other people affect the way she is and decides to live, there still are people who, by being accepting of her, managed to gain a place in her heart... and she's happy for that. its rly beautiful.
but its the impact her death has on yuuji what the story really cares about here.
and like. thats fine! im not even saying killing nobara is a bad choice or that its bad if her death also developed yuuji's character. but the way it was done, its like her death only had that purpose. its a way too transparent device, that's what i dislike abt it. i dont mind being upset bc a character i love dies? i like feeling strong emotions when i engage emotionally with art/stories.
but i think she was killed off too soon. we didn't get to properly say goodbye to her. both her character arc and her death were rushed.
she could have been developed so much more! it feels like she was taken away way too soon in the story. i wanted her to fight sukuna along the others. i wanted her to use her cool technique to help yuuji nail sukuna's soul. i wanted to see just how much stronger she could get. i wanted her to finally meet saori. I WANTED HER TO HAVE A COOL EYE PATCH!!!!!!!!!!!
why is she barely mentioned after she dies??? she was one of the 3 main, dude, are u kidding me? yuuji's the only one who mentions her but he's almost afraid of talking about her. its like the whole world forgot about her!!!!! and what about maki?????? werent they girlfriends?
what is nobara's LEGACY? why did gege not make her death matter in the narrative? even if she (for whatever reason) came back(??) at the end, id still be rly mad & sad abt it cos i wanted to see her DO STUFF!! i wanted to see her kick some ass!!!! i wanted to see her grow!!!!! to open up with others!!!!! I WANTED TO SEE MORE OF HER. IM SO UPSET I WANT OUT
#kugisaki nobara#CW rambly rant !!!!!! ///////// goshh i rly needed this lol..#I TALKED ABT THIS YESTERDAY I THINK but even tho i dont follow bnha seeing so much discussion abt the ending made me antsy lolll#the '''''''''''''''''confirmation'''''''''''''''''''' (not even) of nobara's death also rly got to me.. idk im just aaaaaaAAAAAAAAA#like of course i LIKE jjk otherwise i wouldnt be so cranky abt this !! thats WHY i have bones to pick lol !!!!!#and one of those bones its the treatment of female characters ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡SORPRESA (TO NO ONE)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#which is even MORE upsetting cos ....the fem characters are..GOOD........... they are good.#i wanted more of tsukumo yuki and fushiguro tsukimi as well#in GENERAL it feels jjks characters (whatever gender) are well written but not very developed.. they hv disctinct personalities and traits#and cool motivations and stories. but it always feels like.... you dont REALLY get to know them THAT well?? if that makes sense???#u get bits and pieces which its part of the appeal id say but at times it feels like its not NEARLY enough esp when theyr cool af like yuki#or when you NEED to know them well & get attached to them for their death to have and IMPACT yknow???? like tsukimi#like ...she died and i was like oh man poor fushiguro BUT THATS NOT RIGHT RIGHT???? a character just freaking died!!!!!#why didnt we get to know her a bit more??? even if through a flashback????????#ANYWAYZ IM SOOO UPSET yuki&tsukimis cases rly annoy me but what gege did to nobara's character is UNFORGIVABLE 2 me even if i still like jj#jjk#di4ry

Every time I see a story about Hades and Persephone now, my mind starts clawing at the walls and screaming this is not what the story is supposed to be. This is not The Brand. The themeing is not there.
Demeter is not the bad guy, Hades is not the bad guy. If anything, Persephone is the bad guy. But she's not guilty, she's fated. It's a dance of themeing.
If Demeter is the bad guy, you take away the joy of summer and gratitude of spring. If Hades is the bad guy, you destroy the inevitability and softness of death. But Persephone.
The earth does not care if you die. The winter does not care if you slip on ice. The stone does not care if your ankle cracks. The world of circumstance is unkind and unapologetic. It's neither worse than Hades' death nor different; but it's to be feared. It's sudden and violent. It's a terror. The Dread Persephone.
The story of Persephone should be about self-discovery, not victimhood or tragic accidents.
