I just found your blog today can you please explain or point out a post that explains the MASH timeloop thing? I love the show but I've never heard anyone talk abt it that way before
oh yay hurray ive been waiting for an excuse to talk about this lmao sorry this is long
ok so basically maeve (my gf) and i started watching mash for the first time about a month ago and we started joking about it being like the characters were stuck in a time loop mostly because the same basic episode format is repeated over and over, because it's a sitcom from the 70s and the episodes arent meant to be watched en masse where you can start noticing all the little repetitions and plot holes and inconsistencies that naturally occur in longform tv
but then i started to pay attention to the dates being mentioned in the show - famously the korean war never technically ended, but american troops were involved in active on the ground fighting between 1950 and 1953, so the entire 11 seasons of mash have to be squeezed into that three year period. with 251 episodes occurring within 1,129 days, that gives every episode about 4.5 days of real time. so it works right? no time loop right? well wait a sec
for the first 5 seasons or so of mash they give very consistent dates about when things are happening. for example, bj arrives in korea in september of 1952, at the start of season 4. colonel potter arrives about a week after him, and talks about how he has 18 months left before his retirement. that gives us about 7 months for the shows final 7 seasons to take place in, meaning that by the episode 'point of view' in season 7 we should be around december of 1952. in that episode the pov character starts writing a letter home and in the corner he writes the date:
september of 1951. ok, could be that this episode isn't meant to take place in the regular timeline of the season - maybe for some reason its just like, a random flashback episode. but bj, charles, and potter are all present, even though none of them got to korea until 1952. now i KNOW that this is not like, the True Hidden Secret Lore of MASH, this is the writers realizing they were running out of road and turning back the clock a bit to accommodate for how long the show was running on. but play in my time loop space with me please
more talking points:
consistent jokes about time zones and how difficult it is to call the states because "our today is their yesterday but if you call them now it might not reach them until our tomorrow and by that point our yesterday will be their today"
hawkeye's increasing mania over the seasons and his conviction that the war will never end, comparing the camp to dante's inferno multiple times. maeve once pointed out that the closer hawkeye comes to realizing that he's trapped in a time loop the closer he gets to being institutionalized - and what does the series finale cold open onto ? hawkeye in a mental institution. the only way out is to lose yourself etc. sidenote frank also escaped the time loop by going insane and getting institutionalized
in a war for all seasons bj potter and charles are all present at the 1951 new years party as well as the 1952 new years party
there are three christmas episodes, two of which bj is present for even though he should only have spent one christmas in korea
details of people's families and lives shift around - sometimes potter's got multiple grandchildren, sometimes he only has one, sometimes its a girl, sometimes its a boy, sometimes she's 5, sometimes he's 2
we're not the first people to talk about this either, here's a good video compilation posted a couple yrs ago of time loop moments
overall ive been using the time loop thesis to add another layer to my mash viewing experience. it increases the already present sense of constant dread, anger, frustration, and disgust with their situation that the characters feel, plus it feels like a very poignant take on the united states' constant warmongering and violent existence. it really never ends, it just goes on an on. the future's been canceled by the war department- we're just gonna replay the past.

i just came across a furry whose been making old school furry art since the 70s and im like man.... im getting the same feeling i felt when i saw the milky way in a dark sky zone for the first time. dude has been drawing fox comics since 2 decades before i was even born.... and not to get misty eyed about furry art but like, this genre has its own rich history and IMO should have its own study within art history.
there are artists in their 60s and 70s who have been drawing funny animal comics the entire time and still have the same style after like 50 yrs and its so amazing to see that. like these people were drawinf furry comics before furaffinity even existed....

How was the midterm? :/
insane actually. im an english major but a lot of the books i have to read are like super super boring OR more than 200 yrs old which i would love to be able to read but simply cannot. i love reading and if i like the book ill gobble it the hell up but i hate so many of them. so i never bother to read the books and this class was no exception.
but im usually rly good at attending and participating in class. this alone will carry me thru the class, every time, bc all we're doing is discussing the book and i read the summary anyway. like i'm telling you i've been doing this for YEARS, and the summary gives u the gist of the book and class tells u what the prof thinks is important the rest is irrlevant.
HOWEVER.
this particular class starts at eight in the goddamn morning. and i commute. waking up at 7am for my 9am classes is no problem, but for whatever reason i physically cannot wake up at 6am consistently. like i am setting the alarm and it is straight up not waking me up. so i keep missing the fucking class. when i tell u i was unprepared for this midterm worth 25% of my grade i mean i was UNPREPARED.
luckily if there's one thing im good at its bullshitting. i sat my ass down for hours and combed thru the sparknotes chapter by chapter and wrote 40 pages of notes (20 pages written out twice bc my handwriting is dogshit and i had to rewrite them so they were legible clown emoji) for 2 novels. exam was open book but bc id written it out so many times i had everything memorised. managed to finish all four essays on time and i'll get a 70 at least 😎
#hopefully higher tho#and hopefully i can get better at getting my ass to this fckn class#ask#longpost

have you heard kuro dubbed in any language other than english? or in any other asian language other than korean or chinese? well i found a persian one and it's so fucking bad that it's hilarious.
(also stay tuned to find out why the persian dub of kuroshitsuji being so bad has directly to do with anti-shipping sentiment and puritanism)
i would like to politely invite anyone who's ethnically from/lives in/speaks the language of a country with an ultraconservative government to contribute to this post if they know a dub of kuro (fandub or licenced by a company) in their language to contribute to this post (agree or disagree that policing media causes a drop in its quality and accessibility in other countries) but let's keep it civil. if you are not from a country like this but have something to say, feel free to add anything on, the conversation is open to all :)
so i just heard the homemade persian dub of kuro's first ep made by some young people who sound like they're in uni (probs 18-23 yr olds), tears have been flowing from my eyes for the past 20 mins
(link under the cut)
to save time, go watch the bits i linked below or just laugh at the whole thing (full link) but don't blame these kids for being awful at this or just skip to the end of the post. as i said, there is a reason this dub is so bad and no official dub exists and it has to do with... anti subculture?!?*
but first, the funny stuff
ciel's voice is awful but just listen to the goofy dub laugh seb's va did at the start I'M FUCKING SOBBING (00:15-00:35), and also not ciel's va MOANING after the op song (2:35) ??? i REPEAT the woman who VA'd ciel was fucking MOANING, the YAWN was the worst part, dub team shotacons???
also SHEEL FANTOMHAYO?? THE KID'S NAME WAS DUBBED AS SHEEL FANTOMHAYO. (refer to 6:30 in the video linked)
now this isn't because we lack a 's' in our language (my alias is literally a persian name meaning shadow aka ✦sayé✦), we've just transliterated it as shiyel, but SHEEL???
the other guy calls him fantomhayo too (8:25) and the fantomhayo condition strikes again with sebastian's va talking about the fantomhayo hospitality at 12:40 ish in the video.
this is particularly bizarre because we do have a V in persian, please guys, use it!
please note: i have nothing but good things to say about finny's va... the way the va says "sebaastiyaan!" (12:43) is so cute <3
at 13:00, we get this golden crumb "meyrin... oh meyrin" from this college aged dude doing sebastian (who is SO lost) then he proceeded to say in persian "i beg you, ON MY LIFE, just pour the fucking wine in the glass and walk away" save me from the bad dub, ono daisuke, save me...
the furnace scene is just gold (18:50 onward is comical, the scream at the end... priceless), these people deserve an award, im tempted to do subs on this whole video because the translation is so wrong yet absolutely too hilarious to leave untranslated. also, i like how you can hear other people talking in the background constantly, they didn't even bother finding a quiet room 😭😭
finally i translated some of the best comments under the vid (everyone fuckin hated it 😭)
..tldr: irani/persian speaking netizens are brutal. but also, it shows that persian speakers are used to quality dubbing, otherwise this wouldn't be so offensive. if we were used to badly done dubs, the comments wouldn't look like this. many famous kdramas and jdramas and indian/turkish films have been dubbed. animated movies e.g. disney films and most commonly 70-80s anime have huge followings in iran and were dubbed extraordinarily well. in fact, in iran, many of our own films are dubbed especially if the original footage did not capture the audio well enough/the director was unhappy with the actor's delivery and it's usually hard to tell if this has happened because it's done very well. shockingly, dub is more popular than sub. so why does kuro not have an official dub? why is the fandub so bad???
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING
*IMPORTANT: an anime like this is not allowed to be legally dubbed by studios in iran because iran is under an islamic theocracy (the islamic republic) and all media that promotes devil worshipping and blasphemy is banned, homosexuality is too (anyone can tell kuro has homoerotic undertones, the homophobic heads of media would never let this queer gothic romance through). oh and trans people are "allowed" on TV but only if they're not vulgar/explicit (not even then, half the time) & grelle would not make it into the anime AT ALL. even if we ignore all the devil worshipping and queerness, sex is banned too (as well as lewd appearances of women), so season 1/2 & boc would never make it. oh and alcohol, bom would never make it. oh and also, women's empowerment is banned too so boa would never make it. when will it end? will someday everything be banned? sure looks like it. but isn't this what anti shippers want? i mean kuro IS problematic media, it never condemns people for having sex or partaking in drinks, not even murder is condemned.
moving on, the subtitled version of the episodes are very well done for what they are but it's still not good, you won't understand what's going on properly. meanings are lost. a dub is much more accessible to those who can't read subs and generally a necessary option. people NEED dubs. don't get me wrong, the iranian fansub team are dedicated however subs are much easier for fans to do than dubbing. as you heard, kuro's persian fandub was frankly terrible. these kids didn't even know how to pronounce ciel's name and it's NOT because of the language barrier, my theory is that because the internet access is so limited, they had to figure out how to pronounce ciel's name purely from the japanese original or another lang dub and had no access to the eng dub. as you can see, they are not able to follow the mouth movements either (don't have editing software); i assume the internet restrictions targeted streaming platforms w the dub on it (because the government wants to CONTROL what media people consume) so they had to figure everything out from japanese or another language, (they probably used another fandub to translate since the ed seems to credit the eng vas while they can never be heard in the bg) which is not easy. unfortunately english is taught in schools around the world not japanese so the dubbers' translation was quite honestly terrible- after all, they had no official script to base their translation off. BUT if a professional dubbing studio (e.g. iran's glory entertainment) got their hands on kuro, it'd probably be dubbed very well. if mehrdad raissi, CEO of glory, was on for seb's role, it would be glorious (pun intended). if he did flynn rider well, he can do sebs well too. but that studio often has their shows played on state televisions and the last thing they want is to get blacklisted and arrested for dubbing the gay demon butler anime. please do not take this fandub as representing all persian-language dubs. and remember, kuro itself is banned for being problematic media in counties like iran... no sebaciel needed (although anyone can definitely see the gay undertones to the story from a cover alone).
if you want to ban people from shipping things or making fan works that are problematic... soon you'll have to get rid of problematic media in general. and already, antis sound like the media people in charge under a dictatorship. "violence is okay, murder is okay but s-sex?!? women in scandalous clothing!!! oh good heavens..!" this is the kind of mindset which leads people down the rabbit hole of "this is problematic!! let's ban it!!!" until there's nothing left, a slippery slope. imagine this was the english dub of kuro. imagine it was banned in western countries and a team of young'uns had to gang up and make their own dub using only the japanese raws. imagine problematic media like kuro wasn't picked up the west because it's "shota" and that's bad. we'd be stuck looking at the same sanitised stuff and if we wanted to watch kuro, our options would be trash dubs (no offense) like this one. pretty scary to think this could be the state of the english dub if puritanism was as bad here as it is in countries like iran. policing media and deciding what creators should or shouldn't create will take you to the side of theocratic dictatorships and you will fall into alt right puritan lunacy, fanpoll are about as woke as a dictatorship, remember that.
don't sound like this:
NEVER sound like this.
it is clear that conditional freedom is no freedom at all. there should be zero criteria to the media we want to create, no religion or purity culture to it. just be media literate. let nobody control what you want to create or consume! (or you'll end up in a world where the media that is deemed "problematic" is maintained but only through underground circles, losing quality and accessibility day by day, until these channels are shut down too and only a sanitised husk of options for media consumption remain)

see now like. thoughts about Max and Oscar with a girlfriend who has like a little farm with chicks and ducks and baby cows and sheep and horses. Max with baby cows and baby ducks. Oscar riding a horse?? save a horse ride a cowboy.
-
🩰
maybe its the texan in me but oscar riding a horse is so sexy. here are some scattered thoughts
they would spend a lot of their off time at her farm, like an off grid kinda moment !! it’s out in the middle of nowhere, in one of those little historic towns called rosebud or smth cute. they do farmer’s markets on the first and third weekend of the month; saturdays are for produce and sundays are like a flea market. she makes preserves and stuff like that with her garden harvests and sells that and fresh produce at the farmers market!! maybe does some kind of crafts and sells those on sundays, like jewelry or soap?
in the beginning, oscar’s probably really comfortable with all of the animals than max, and maybe just wants to impress her by helping out. max is chill with cats, but kind of disinterested in the other animals until his partners are spending all their time tending to the animals and he can never find them. like he wants a cuddle and they’re out in the chicken coop collecting eggs, brushing the horses, feeding the animals, or tending to the garden. max probably complains when the chicken coop or barn stinks and oscar n reader are just like, “yeah babe. animals shit here. help us move it over to the compost (:” and he’s scrunching his nose n walking away.
he goes out to say hi bc he’s been streaming all day, ends up helping them with whatever they’re doing as long as it’s not cleaning the barn or coop. she teaches oscar how to ride first and max watches from the edge of the fence, feeds the horses sugar cubes n gives them pets but it takes him awhile to wanna get on one. kinda worried he’ll get thrown off and not be able to drive. he’d love the chickens and ducks, he’d sit in the yard and ducklings would pile up in his lap bc he’d feed them berries from the garden. he’d have a herd of ducks n chickens following him around the yard while he scatters feed. he’r be soo happy that they’re following him around in the moment, but get annoyed when every time he goes outside a herd of birds is accosting him bc he spoiled them
there’s one day she asks for help milking cows and both of them NOPE out of the barn. she’s like ): okay i’ll call my neighbor he’ll come help out. they kinda wanna be jealous bfs and say, “no don’t call him we’ll do it.” bc wdym you’re calling another man for help when you have two boyfriends? but there’s no fucking way they’re milking a cow. neighbor comes over and it’s like a 70 yr old grandpa when they were imagining and stressing over some hot cowboy 😭
when it comes time to shear the sheep, they’re both fucking confused. she hires someone to do it bc she can’t do it on her own but they all watched and max and oscar are a bit amazed when it’s all over and the sheep are all so much smaller without the fluff.

The politics of class and privilege in Young Royals
I wrote this post a few days ago about why I read Young Royals as anti-monarchy, sparked by the results of this poll. Since then, I've been thinking, and I realized that some of the details of the show that form its political attitudes are quite subtle, and deserve to be pointed out. And I know how much we love YR deep-dive analysis posts, and so this post was born.
Note that this is coming from a USA perspective, with light research on Swedish context. I welcome questions, additions, corrections, and disagreements. And let me know if this was helpful to you at all! If so, there are more scenes I can write about (though none of them would be this long).
Season 1, Episode 1: Wille's first class
This is a revealing scene. It feels significant from the start, because it’s the first time Simon and Wille are in close quarters. And then the very first kind-of-interaction between the boys is loaded with tension about class and politics.
This appears to be some kind of ethics or social studies class. The whiteboard reads “[something], punishment, and crime,” and the teacher has been asking the students to rank the severity of various crimes. She casually invites discussion on tax evasion vs. welfare fraud, “two less sensitive issues.” Did she not anticipate how loaded that question would be in this context?
Walter is ready with an answer before the teacher has even finished her question. He defends tax evasion with the common capitalist talking point of “job creation.” Proponents of economic conservatism claim that businesses should be freed from regulations (e.g. laws on workers’ rights and fair business practices) and taxes, because the more free rein they have, the more jobs they will create. This is a myth. Capitalist businesses always prioritize growth and profit. If there’s ever an opportunity to make more money while employing fewer people and paying them less, they will take it. Left to their own devices, businesses develop new technologies and efficiencies, often at the cost of workers’ safety, and for many of them, their jobs. What really increases the number of jobs available? Tax rates and social benefits that boost the middle class, because that increases consumption, and therefore business and employment. Laws for workers’ health, safety, and well-being also increase available jobs. (If you can’t make one person do this job for this many hours, or this quickly, or alone, you have to hire more people.) Despite having no backing in reality, the idea of unencumbered businesses as job creators remains popular.
Walter sounds like he may be parroting his pro-capitalist parents. Stella could be parroting her own parents, or just the society at large when she adds that “welfare scammers give nothing back, they just take.” The specter of welfare fraud is a myth engrained even more in the public consciousness, and a racist one at that. The welfare fraud myth got big in the US in the 70’s, when US President Reagan used the false stereotype of the “welfare queen” to attack government-provided benefits (food stamps, unemployment income, etc.) and stoke anti-Black racism. By any measure, welfare fraud is actually very rare. But the myth is perpetuated, because it gives conservative politicians an excuse to police and criminalize people of color, who (in the US at least) require food stamps at disproportionate rates (though white people still receive food stamps more than any other racial group).
Think about what Stella’s statement says about her perspective on the humanity and worth of different groups of people. She’s hating on the idea of poor people receiving any more welfare (literally meaning health, happiness, well-being) than the amount the government has chosen to ration out. She says “welfare scammers,” but you can tell she’s also talking about welfare recipients in general. She’s suggesting that something that improves the life of a poor person or family doesn’t actually matter to society or to her—because that person or family is worthless, and not a significant part of society. Stella is a member of the upper class, and sees herself as entirely separate and fundamentally different from the sectors of working class and poor people.
Henry continues where Walter left off, defending tax evasion. He suggests that businesses are in the right to evade taxes, because the government is guilty of over-taxing them. (By the way, moving businesses abroad doesn’t just help evade taxes, it also often gives opportunities to pay workers less and exploit them more.) It is so ironic that Henry claims that taxes are resulting in his dad’s estate “struggling to make ends meet.” If you have an estate that you’re using to do business, you already have wayyy more than you need! You know who’s actually struggling to make end meet? The people receiving benefits.
I can understand why that’s the point when Simon laughs. Prompted by the teacher to share more, he points out that the very language used, tax evasion vs. welfare scam, is biased in favor of the rich. He points out the double standard whereby the poor are over-policed while the rich get away with cheating, harming, and breaking laws all the time (something that becomes a theme throughout the show, especially with August). To see who really “takes and gives nothing back,” check out this visual of the value of wage theft vs. burglary in the US. (And note that civil asset forfeiture, i.e. legal theft by police, also dwarfs burglary in the US.)
Simon mentions the deductions and subsidies provided by governments that value businesses over humans, and Henry gets rude and defensive. Henry doesn’t actually know how to defend his argument, which can’t stand up to Simon’s critique. And then Simon has his famous mic-drop moment: With a slight smirk and a side-eye towards Wille, he says, “Well, we all know who this country’s biggest welfare receivers are.” If I’m looking at it right, the Swedish government gives about SEK 143 million ($13.7 million USD) to the monarchy and all its trappings each year. This is less than many other European monarchies. Some might say that makes it ok. Why is the bar so low? Why do we excuse millions in public funds going to bankroll the extravagant lives of a family that already has millions in inherited wealth, when there are people who truly can’t make ends meet? Is the monarchy really “giving back” more than $13.7 million USD’s worth to the Swedish people? Is there really no better use of that money?
The most important point in Simon’s comment is the connection between the monarchy and the upper classes—especially the nobility. The positions of both the monarchy and the upper classes rest on no one questioning a system of inequality. All these rich people need us to accept that this is just the way things are: some people bask in riches while others starve; some people deserve millions in public funds, others are greedy for wanting more food stamps to feed their family.
Wille is a little stunned by Simon’s jab. We can tell, especially later at lunch, that Wille is intrigued by Simon’s bluntness, something Wille doesn’t experience in a lot of his interpersonal relationships. But he also appears to agree with Simon’s political point on some level. Remember that Wille has been attending public school so far in his life. I’m sure he’s familiar with the conservative talking points, but this class is probably the first time he’s heard them coming so strongly from his own classmates.
BONUS: Season 1, Episode 5: Presentation day
In episode 5, we get a scene of the same class, where the students appear to be doing group presentations on various topics of crime and punishment. If you’re busy pondering what happened to Alexander, you could easily miss the 10 seconds where Stella and Fredrika introduce their presentation. But these 10 seconds speak volumes. “Capital punishment,” says Fredrika, with a winning smile. Stella giggles as she says, “Yes, or no?” Fredrika confidently concludes: “We say yes.” Capital punishment, aka the death penalty, is when a government kills someone as punishment for a crime. It’s the ultimate case of “it’s not ok for ordinary people to do it, but it’s totally ok for the people and institutions in power to do it.” I won’t go into how the US has used capital punishment in racist and ableist ways, or how many cases of suspected or confirmed wrongful execution there have been. I think the main point of this short scene is to show the casual ruthlessness of these two teen girls. Their wealth and privilege has so warped their thinking that they can promote state-sanctioned killing with a giggle. The lives of regular people are not real or substantial to them, and deep down they know that no one they care about would ever be at risk of being sentenced to such a punishment, no matter what they were guilty of. (By the way, capital punishment was abolished in Sweden in 1973.)
Looking at the two ethics class scenes, we see that Young Royals portrays the upper-class students as living inside a bubble of privilege that allows them to dehumanize regular people. This causes both moral rot and intellectual laziness. It also causes a kind of ridiculous immaturity that’s both a little bit funny and a little bit sad.

No real and based I love lestat but I fully do not understand the people who believe Louis is lying and manipulating? Like are there parts of the story where he’s trying to make himself look good, yeah but those are really obvious where he’s like oh I was taking these pictures but it was nothing really. But on the whole I think he’s pretty truthful and the reason the story changes is because his perspective changes. Like if he just wanted to look good wouldn’t he have been like nah lestat’s full of shit about how Claudia was turned. But instead he says looking back I think he was right and that’s what you should use while making a face that is so full of shame and regret and loss like it just happened yesterday even though it was 70 yrs ago because Jacob Anderson is a phenomenal actor
i dont think this applies to every lestat fan of course but it IS sinister how there's really this idea/theory that louis/armad/claudia are all liars besmirching innocent sad tortured traumatised perfect precious white man lestat. lestat having those evil parts of him is what makes him funnnnnn why are you shaving off the bipolar disorder off him!!! theres a quote from one of the writers from the after-episode of the finale where its like this is the real lestat, not the 80% accurate lestat. hugely paraphrasing but very telling to me. we largely did see lestat. scream

A little from the Interview in DN:
It was a nice interview covering g YR, Karusell, music and SMB. A little bit of everything. It’s cute it says that he is excited and is glowing when talking about all the things going on. Some takes from it below. Noting about his “special project” was mentioned.
On Off My Mind:
It has a reggaton beat and is very flowy. It’s a warm song that you could have heard at an Island in the Caribbean. He says he grew up with Latino music and says he sings 70% in English and 30% Spanish.
On music in general:
He is working in a new album with the plan to be able to release it during 2024.
The interviewer state he seems proud of what he creates and ask if he has always been. Then he says he is not always proud of his music 🥲. It is closest to him and he is his own biggest critics. And that he sometimes look back and wonder why he released some songs, not regretting it but more “what the hell?!”
On Karusell:
It is sold to over 50 countries. And he finds it exciting to do a feature film, with a classic premiere and big screens and more intimate feeling to watch it together.
A funny anecdote
A pair of designer pants were sent in from Milano for the premiere (same evening as the interview) but fitting was wrong so a new pair were sent.
On YR:
The series has changed my whole life. There are so many doors that have been opened that would never have been opened if I hadn't been given that role. It has been a sick journey.
On S3: There will be a lot of tears, but also very beautiful moments. Bring tissues!
On SMB:
“In addition, Omar Rudberg is current in the upcoming season of TV4's "So much better", which starts airing next Saturday. He describes the recordings as a challenge, that he didn't know how to behave. - It was a lot of fun and everyone was very kind, but it's difficult when it's reality. It took a while to get into it, it was a little weird. How? - When you do something that is spontaneously fun, the team might just: do that again! Then you have to redo it, you have to fake it but it should look natural. So it was a fusion of reality and acting.
At the same time, "So much better" was like a vacation in comparison with the work on the new "Young royals" season. During the filming of the Netflix series, there was full focus and extremely quiet shooting with a gigantic team. - In "So much better" you could chat, talk, laugh, it was music. I just sat there and sat back and enjoyed. Except when I was going to sing, it was so fucking scary. The interpretations he performs came about in hectic forms at the same time as "Young royals" was recorded. Omar Rudberg says he got a lot of help from the record company and its producers. - During the breaks, I had to make calls, listen to demos and texts, approve, rewrite. Then it was just a matter of flying into the studio and recording everything. It was a hell of a stress but it turned out well in the end.”

Also, I would like to invite rishi to work in his godawful in-laws exploitative company now. He can be the first person to work a 70-hour week there as his Father-in-law wants for the meagre payment that they give their employees.
👏👏👏
And in another achievement Simple Sudha as his casteist Mother-in-law is called, can finally shut up about her UK travels now. Poor her for being left homeless next time she visits the UK though.
I’d hear about his wife’s family being casteist but I didn’t know about the nickname for his MIL! Thank you for sharing that 😂
Oh they are horrible human beings. I personally know so many stories of them being completely terrible bosses at Infosys through my mum's cousin who worked there for more than a decade.
His mil? Oh she's such a pathetic person and if I start listing the problematic things she's said and been a part of? We'll be here for years.
Once during an interview she was like whenever I travel, I take my own utensils and food with me since I don't know if the place I go to has served non vegetarian stuff and their utensils might be impure. Deeply problematic when you take in the context of a caste based society as india is. All while wearing a silk sari so so much for not harming animals.
She was also part of the latest panel who gets to decide the school syllabus and help with the book contents for the govt and let's just say that panel has reached some very very disturbing changes and conclusions regarding what Indian students should be taught in school.
Her children's books? On the first glance they might look okay to you, but once you start reading them you realise how harmful on a child's thinking some of the things being preached about in them are. There's very subtle references to an ideal woman and her role, caste privileges and caste based prejudices in them etc.
There's also a story she cooked up about an immigration officer at heathrow who couldn't believe she was the PM's mil coz she was oh so 'simple'.
Then there's a story she repeats about how she's never bought new clothes in 30 years as a way of pr (also this was to compete with the wife of another Indian billionaire - Nita ambani who's known for her 'I'm-rich-so-youll-be-forced-to-hear-about-me bs)
And did I mention she's a nominated MP in India now which she became after her and her husband were all gaga over the Indian Pm and his party the past 10 yrs. Atleast its for the next 6 years (thank god the Upper House of the Parliament having a tenure) So fun times ahead.

you’re right about the not caring about canon anymore because 100 yrs quest fucking SUCKS man it’s just trash… like they’ve destroyed 90% of the good characters making them soooo OOC just to fit them into the str8 ships it makes me so mad especially because this manga was supposed to be about friendship but what ppl ONLY care about is romance and it’s not even good
i saw they royally fucked up natsu. somethin bout him not knowing what a library is even tho the first quest he and lucy go on is to break into duke everlue's LIBRARY. and that one ova and ending where natsu is in the fairy tail LIBRARY.
also something something laxus flirting with the fucking enemy something something laxus giving his COAT to the fucking ENEMY something something laxus KNEELING for the ENEMY bc her bullshit ass magic makes NO SENSE. look i know theyre tryina make laxus more "likable" or some bullshit so itll make sense when he gets with mirajane (bc lets face it its gonna be mira not cana or lisanna or whoever else unless hes getting with that eNEMY) but like. we've known he respects women. we know hes grown since the battle of ft. you dont need to show that hes a sub gentleman who'll kneel to more powerful women so itll make more sense when he gets with the she-devil. like at this point im wanting to boost laxus/freed art and fics even tho i really dont care for that ship. controversial opinion ik
my hyperfixations/special interests/somethin like that have rotated from one comfort media (ft) to another and that other is currently dbz so 1 thats why this has been even less active than before and 2
in dragon ball super they fucked up goku. apparently bitch doesnt know what a kiss is. HE HAS TWO KIDS. what the FUCK are you on about. i mean im 70% sure in db he didnt know what marriage was and thought it was food or somethin when chichi made him promise to marry her when they both grew up. but like. he was maybe 15, living in the wilderness, his grandpa having died some years ago, getting no education. THAT made sense. him not knowing what a kiss is??? I FEEL LIKE WE'VE SEEN HIM KISS HIS WIFE BEFORE. ON SCREEN. WHAT THE FUCK.
it looks like manga authors are in the era of beating more money out of their completed series to the point that theyre just beating a corpse now. theyre tryina squeeze more money and attention outta shit that was still pretty big without new "canon" content coming out.
#ohtobe talks#ohtobe asks#shonens have taken a turn for the worse. these two. boruto. black clover. whatever the fucks happening with bnha#like ive debated on reading 100yq JUST so i can rewrite it better as a fic#just gotta get through the ft anime... bc i am not suffering through the terrible manga art of the first some odd volumes#plus the anime only yet apparently canon to manga too arc#just gotta get past the... *shivers*.... /jiggle butt gang/#i took a massive break from ft tbh bc dbz was slowly draggin me back in an then i learned abou the dbs movie with piccolo and gohan as mcs#which resulted in me writing a 12k+ one shot in a month and has still got me in a chokehold sdkljfk#ft 100yq#thats all this gets. it dont deserve more.

give me house
i like house music a whole lot, like when i go dancing thats what i want to hear, but i dont know it the way i know rock and pop lol. its really having a current renaissance and im interested in how and why?
like kpop is going all in on this shit. for instance this le sserafim single:
youtube
(feat. the iconic house of juicy couture, ofc)
literally i got a tiktok recently from a 13 yr old kpop stan cataloging the dif house subgenres that have been represented in kpop over the last decade. i want to talk to that kid in 10 years they have a bright future as a fellow music crank.
partially the problem is that im badly positioned as an american rock fan. we just dont have the same respect for dance music here that they do in europe and chunks of asia. sure, we get blips on the charts where it dominates for a few years - disco in the 70s, electronica in the 90s, dubstep about 10 years ago. but in between those blips its often considered cheesy or beneath the interest of "serious" music fans.
in the states you have to be a dedicated dance music fan to know more, its just not in the water the way it is for like, someone who grows up in england or germany. i dont know. i cant contribute much here. here's a theo parrish boiler room.

genuine question about poly relationships:
this is really kicking a hornets nest but one thing i dont rly understand about online-capital P-Polyamory is why it's such a bad thing to want different levels of commitment with different partners.
like maybe im just not hearing the whole conversation but if i was poly and i had a 10+ yr relationship and a KID with partner A, and had a 6-month casual relationship with partner B, it doesnt really seem logical to treat both of those relationships like they are 1) "equal" and 2) both headed the same direction?
idk im asking this because i always see the back half of this conflict, where Poly people make ig reels giving each other advice on how to navigate a scenario where B wants to be treated with the same level of commitment and attention as A. and the advice is always like "well have you considered WHY you dont want to treat B the same as A? is it internalized shame? is A being controlling?" .... and maybe thats true sometimes, but they never really consider that the "why" might be that you dont actually vibe as well with B, or that your current relationship state with them is better how it is. i love my friends, but i wouldnt raise a kid with most of them, and even friends i love deeply start to drive me crazy after a few days..... if B wants me to move in with them and split time with A, even though i like just seeing them once or twice a week, am i obligated to do what they ask in the name of "fairness"?
like why does B get to demand a level of involvement that they havent earned? and why is it hypothetically on ME to make space for them in my life, in a way that i might not be comfortable with yet or reflect how i feel about them? why does B set the bar for what is "fair" in the dynamic?
i dig both Polyamory and offline, small-p polyamory (for ex, the more fluid hookup culture of the queer scene in the 70's and 80's), but i feel like im constantly seeing this narrative of compromise in Polyamorous discourse where anyone you're dating is equal, no matter if they just walked in or have been with you through a transformative period of your life. it just seems emotionally dishonest to me, and in service of a facade of harmony rather than actual relationship dynamics.
Poly people talk about the monogamous "relationship escalator," but they dont really seem to be able to maintain a multitude of different relationship styles, since each one must be treated with the same level of gravity. thats why i think little-p polyamory seems like a more grounded lifestyle: you can have your "nested" boyfriend (A), and the two of you can have a little twink (B) that you both like to make out with and have threesomes with sometimes and its no big thing. the twink has his own place and maybe his own roster of boys, and you're all happy and vibing and there's no need to worry about whether youre treating either A or B "fairly" because the asymmetry of your dynamic works for all three of you.
if youre capital Poly or just know a lot, i would love to hear ur thoughts! i'm coming from a desire to understand the practice, so that i may support it.
