Some nights are better than others.

It’s almost grief leaking into your chest when you find him. Sat down in the shower. Silent. Alone. He’s got his back pressed against frigid tile, knees tucked up close to his chest. He looks young. He looks small. There’s almost pain flaring awake in your gut, like being stabbed in a dream and waking up half linked into adrenaline, convinced you’re torn open and bleeding.

You look at Jason, still dressed in his gear, still armed, and wonder if he’s waiting for a fight. There’s some nights you look at him and watch him bring conflict home, watch him tap the grips of his guns to make sure they’re still there, watch him manoeuvre around your apartment like there’s a threat hidden somewhere.

Sometimes, it’s like the violence won’t leave and even worse, sometimes you watch Jason not know what to do with himself once the fight is over.

There’s water beating against his back and his hair sticks to his forehead but he doesn’t move. Not even when you smooth yourself into his peripheral. Not even when you slide open the frosted glass door and step inside.

The shower cubicle is wide enough for you to sit next to him, so you fold yourself up small, tuck your edges into place around him. Your knee knocks against his own and you press your arms together, shoulder to elbow to wrist. And still, he doesn’t move.

His name settles on your tongue but you swallow it back. Instead, you link your pinky fingers together and wait.

Jason says your name so softly, almost like a whisper, maybe a prayer, and presses his knee into yours. The pressure is barely there, feels like nothing at all, but the relief is sweet on your tongue, the awful banging on the inside of your chest finally stops.

“Yeah, I’m here.” You whisper, tugging his hand closer so you can smooth your thumb over his knuckles. “I'm not going anywhere.”

Dropping his head onto your shoulder Jason sighs, almost as if you’ve spread balm over an old, aching wound, almost like you’ve found exactly where he’s hurting and taken it away. His body leans into you, legs unfolding to lay straight, feet touching the opposite wall.

You follow his lead, stretch out so you can keep his hand in your lap. Turning his hand over you smooth your fingers over his palm, walk over the lines and play gently with his fingers. Measuring the size of your hand to his, you huff quietly in amusement and Jason, without saying a single word, slots his fingers between your own and holds your hand.

“You’ll stay?” He asks.

Bringing his hand to your mouth you kiss his knuckles, the barest brush of your lips, “Always. I’ll be here for as long as you’ll have me. I won’t go unless you want me to.”

“Never.” Jason murmurs, and you know he’s watching your intertwined fingers. “I’ll never not want you. For the rest of my life, you are all I’ll ever want.”

While it is mainly just for fun & not my main design for Soul, i think Soul's form would change throughout Cacophony a fair amount. There's still some things it cant change but depending on its view on himself, Heart & Mind, or Whole would alter how his apperance looks. Not necessarily a bad thing either, just a form on how he feels or views himself. Kinda like when you make a persona i guess? He just swaps a lot between them.

Also smaller thing being that it's "tail" can change as well! More obvious being the relation to the instrumental album cover but also it can changed into other things as well. An Umbrella for Spring and a Storm, a gavel for parts of Mucka Blucka, TSE & The Bidding, or it being one of those bid cards youd hold up to bid your amount [also during The Bidding]. Can also change to the trident during TSE & The Bidding too, the red guitar in Two Wuv as well. Just generally whatever he want/feels like!

detective noir jack!!…finally!

so, remember when i said I’d design jack after i finished Katherine’s costumes? ahahaha well. Here he is :]

as per usual, notes and references under the cut:

The two left “outfits” are Jack’s Art Clothes (read: legal work clothes :]). They’re constantly covered in paint because Jack cleans/dries his brushes on his clothes.

The shirt he’s wearing on the far left is a “casual” shirt (denoted as casual because of the unstarched collar). He keeps s couple spare pencils/paintbrushes and a small sketchbook in the pocket.

He also gets an artists smock <3 because I love them <3. So many paint tubes in the Big Pockets ;]

Newsboy/flat caps were still widespread and popular in the period, especially among working men.

His trousers are a better fit than Davey’s (waay less wide at the ankles), but he only has one pair (hence the paint stains on the rightmost design). He probably acquired them second-hand.

His shoes are oxfords <3 they were gaining popularity in the period and since neither of his “jobs” are really blue-collar i figured he would have oxfords instead of work boots.

The rightmost design is what I have deigned his “Homme Fatale Getup”. It’s what davey usually sees him in (at the speakeasy and around town) and also what he wears to the speakeasy. (Thank you pidge for suggesting the fitted waistcoat :]).

The Homme Fatale Shirt is one with a detachable collar, these were starting to become less popular by the late 20s—in favour of shirts with attached collars— but Jack probably wouldn’t want to spend his money on the newest fashionable shirts when he has one in perfectly good condition already (besides, it means he can mix and match collars)

The collar he has on in the design is a winged tip collar, though jack’s use of it here is informal (I took it straight from one of the references because it was So Jack). The necktie is probably so garish and ugly (Race hates it. Jack thinks its the greatest thing to exist).

he probably would also have a suit jacket but i tried to give him one for half an hour and it gave me psychic damage (these designs are for fun why suffer amirite)
