I wanted to change it because it felt too cartoony for how serious I wanted the tension to feel. You can tell I put my signature lil eye style and even little 3D grooves, I was so confident the first drawing would be perfect lololol

Honestly, thank god for the tumblr version of humans are weird/space orcs/whatever. I love the stories I read on here about discovery and interaction between different species and how cool space is. Every time I try to go to reddit (into the r/HFY one, which is supposed to be the same thing), all I get usually is stories of human's deadly military in space.

i don’t know if i’m ever gonna write the fic but i’ve been thinking abt like. the eternal stockade. the implications. lup, a lich who was trapped in a dark featureless cell for a decade completely isolated with nothing to keep her sanity but her own mind. she has to put people in the eternal stockade. how many liches does she see herself in. how many liches started out just like her. how many liches are truly too far gone. and the only liches we ever see other than her and barry are edward and lydia. they’re certainly evil, but mad? they seem pretty sane. they’re not, like, tattered echoes of souls, they’re definitely still people. even as much of a grudge as lup surely has against them, wouldn’t they remind her incredibly strongly of herself? do they deserve to be trapped just like she was? for eternity? isn’t eternity what turned john to existential despair in the first place?

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not (also idc either way) but I would love a sequel for Andromeda. One where the Kett don't have a plot (maybe a few pockets to fight or something), but that's just focused on exploration and settlement. Figuring out how to use Remnant tech to go beyond Heleus. The Kett are busy regrouping after the Archon and start to get worried about the expansion and that can lead into a third game. I just think that would be neat.

maybe this is a me thing bc i grew up in a country which has been occupied for roughly 300 years but like. i sincerely hope that by the end of the story the 7 kingdoms dont stay united yk? like the north and the riverlands too have been fighting an open rebellion for the entire series for their freedom and against the mistreatment they faced from the crown, house targaryen, then house baratheon/lannister whilst also fighting a war against the iron islands too (which r also fighting for independence. btw.) and to end the series with all that bloodshed fighting and hopes useless and meaningless with all of them united again under one banner is just... idk man its just a hopeless ending

I'm 35,000 words into writing a longfic about the Batman/Bruce/Matches DID system and I'm obsessed with it. It includes Bat/Joker, Bruce/Harvey, and Matches/Harv and the differences in each of those dynamics is 🤌

(Batman and Bruce know about each other but they don't know about Matches and Matches doesn't know about them--what could POSSIBLY go wrong?)

Can you make a tutorial on how you world build and make ocs? I can't seem to make any people in my brain, but then when I try to come up with environments jobs, beliefs and little details to slowly come up with someone, I think: well I don't really know how people have influenced the world- it's a weird loop

To be honest, I don't think I can! Writing is an extremely personal process. The way I write is directly related to how I process things, what I find important in stories, years of my own analysis of my and other's writing, etc... The way you write will be unique to you, as well. But I can explain how I personally think of it.

The short answer:

Write. Write anything and everything, it's a tool to explore your ideas. Analyze your own writing, and write more. Then, as you discover which ideas you want to develop, write more to explore them more. You won't know what you want otherwise!

The long answer:

I think this kind of loop is common. It's easy to feel like everything needs to be done "at once," because our job as writers is to make elements logically fit with each other for our readers. But as you've discovered, developing multiple elements simultaneously isn't really possible, or at least is extremely difficult.

Personally, when I think of writing, I break it into three major elements; characters, world, and plot. As much as possible every scene explores one or more of these, and as much as possible these three things tie back into what I personally consider most important: theme.

Everything I do is in service of the themes I want to present. Without them my events feel aimless. It can take a while to discover them, but they're the core of my work. You will have to discover what you feel is the core of yours. Analyzing other media helps with this too.

Concepts in your brain exist in a state of infinite potential. But when you start writing you have to start making choices, which removes potential as you move forward... But you have to move forward anyways. If there's ideas you want to explore later, you can always explore them later.

What this ends up meaning, to answer your question, is that I don't think of my characters as "people in my brain" or my worlds as something people have influenced... Not at their core, at least. They are tools that I use to represent specific ideas. Obviously they're also my blorbos, but mostly they're serving a specific narrative purpose.

So above all else... Write. Write, and discover what you're writing about, and then start over and write with that in mind. Keep doing this. But you have to write!

The problem with being an extremely argumentative child who was constantly being reprimanded by adults to pick my battles and not start fights over nothing is that in the moment when I want to stop a conversation in its tracks to call out an injustice i always feel like I'm being overdramatic and i shouldn't cause problems or rock the boat and I'll regret it if I speak up. But that's literally never been true. I've never once regretted opening my mouth, but there have been times I didn't say anything that will haunt me to my grave. You can apologize for overreacting or reading into things, but you can never go back and have spoken up when you didn't. If you're someone who finds yourself biting your tongue a lot over stuff that seems like maybe only you care, cut that shit out. Its 2025 we're picking all the battles now.
