Random Pokémon Headcanons

Any sexuality headcanons apply to adult versions of these characters. Please do not sexualize children :)

Red is a demiboy and uses he/it. When he grows up he also comes to identify as asexual and aromantic

Blue is bisexual but with a preference towards men. He can be a bit of a flirt but strikes out 90% of the time due to his cocky vibe

Kris is the daughter of that random woman who's in your kitchen talking to your mom at the beginning of GSC. Ethan and Kris's moms have always been friends & neighbors; Kris's dad is one of Professor Elm's aides. When she's young Kris wants to work alongside Elm, but as she gets older she becomes interested in Pokémon psychology - ways their brains are similar and different to those of humans, and how that knowledge can be used to help Trainers and Pokémon better understand each other.

Silver is demiheterosexual. I like to imagine that he and Kris strike up a relationship. In his adult years he works on-and-off with the International Police when incidents with Team Rocket spring up, but he refuses to join them because he doesn't always want to play by their rules.

May is pansexual, and either aromantic or just not strongly interested in relationships. She definitely dated Lisia at some point, even if only briefly

Leaf is a trans girl! I used to hc that her other name (Green in English, Blue in Japanese) was her deadname, but I know there's controversy around having trans/nb characters' deadnames revealed, and as someone who is not trans myself I want to be careful. Anyway, I imagine her exploring the Kanto we see in Pokémon GSC; in that game you first land in Vermillion City, so I imagine her being from there.

Both Lucas and Barry have very juvenile crushes on Dawn (with her in the "friend" role and Lucas as the protag). However, Dawn makes it clear that she isn't interested in that kind of relationship, and they get over it pretty quickly.

Lyra caught her Marill as an Azurill in Mt. Mortar (yes I know Azurill isn't found there wild, but let's say someone snuck an incense in there or something). She didn't have any other Pokémon so she "borrowed" a bunch of Poké balls from her grandparents and just hucked them at the mon over and over until eventually she caught it

Hilbert and Hilda are twins! Hilbert is older by just thirty seconds, which irritates Hilda to no end.

Bianca and Cheren are both trans and when they get older they start dating. Their Neo Champion event was just giving t4t sorry i don't make the rules

Hilda & Nate are the two Unova protags; after B2W2, Nate stays in Unova to lead the Pokémon League, Rosa has a moderately successful career at Pokéstar Studios, Hilda goes searching abroad for N, and Hilbert becomes a frequent visitor on the Battle Subway, second in rank only to Emmet & Ingo.

Victor is nonbinary!!!! Based off my own experience of playing the game with Victor as my protag but feeling uncomfortable with my character using he/him. They can be a little awkward and apologetic about their identity, but Hop has been supporting them in their transition for years and will fight anyone who misgenders them. The downside of this is that Hop can be a little too overzealous as an ally and sometimes he makes a scene when Victor would rather just go incognito.

Rei (as protag) is the little brother of Lucas from DPP :) Idk Johanna got remarried or something

Juliana is genderfluid but identifies more with the female end of the spectrum. Depending on the day, they use she/her, they/them, it/its, or xe/xem.

Penny is a demigirl and uses she/they/he

I personally DO NOT see the Protags as self inserts. I think they all have their own personalities. So I don’t really have any self insert ships were I ship them just because I want to date a character, but I do understand some people have those.

Akira and Goro are a massive call back to Tatsuya and Jun from Persona 2, and Tatsuya and Jun are written with the intent to be romantic. Though I think after the third semester I usually don’t have to explain why I feel like Akira and Goro is an obvious Ship, it’s one of those you can totally have a different preference but you understand what I'm getting at right?

I reeeally hope I don’t have to explain that Futaba and Akira are in sibling dynamic so Shipping them would be gross.

Kasumi’s infatuation with Akira makes ZERO SENSE. The only people who see through your delinquent deguise is Goro (because soulmates narrative foil) and Ryuji (who doesn’t see through he’s just a good boy who trusts everyone), so Kasumi seeing through it makes NO SENSE. If she were to follow anyone around saying “Senpei” I think it would be Makoto.

Rise’s feral one sided thirsty crush on Souji is very funny to me (and I love playing it for comedy) but I don’t think he would ever reciprocate it. Her love just feels a bit too superficial, and Souji has too many issues of not being seen for himself for me to like it as a Ship.

I do think Yukari had a crush on Minato and I think Minato would be willing to try dating her, but I feel their love languages would be too different and it would end in disaster. Minato seems like the little actions and subtle comfort where Yukari seems like she would want big romantic gestures (something Mitsuru would do for her).

I will say with all Persona Romance Routes I am very much not a Fan of the Pandering that is “Girl likes you for no real reason” (it’s honestly just a boring Romance to me) and would’ve liked if more of the Girls just weren’t Romanceable so we could just have more Male/Female Friendships. I feel (aside from the stand out VERY BAD ones) a lot of the Romance Routes aren’t that bad, just don’t mesh well with the Tone and Tension of the rest of the Game (they’re kind Mundane and Boring in comparison to the Relationships I ACTUALLY Ship). But my Opinion on Persona Romance Routes as a whole would be a completely different discussion than Ships.

It’s necessary to say this so I don’t get Canceled; Hamuko and Minato are Canonically Two Halves of the Same Soul, some people choose to see that as Siblings and some people choose to see that as Soulmates. I used to prefer Siblings but now I prefer Soulmates. Either is fine but don’t mix em is all.

When I say Kasumi I usually actually mean Sumire. Sorry it’s partly cause it’s a Spoiler and partly cause I never got in the Habit of calling her by her Real Name. So unless Specific Context assume when I say Kasumi I mean Sumire. I just don’t feel like going back and changing it everywhere I’ve said it.

AGH sorry this took so long and is a week late but!

💕- Mastema (AKA Mansemat) is truly one of the most SMT characters of all time. It really helps that in a lot of different sources where he's featured (the Book of Jubilees, the Dead Sea Scrolls etc.) he has roles that are similar but have enough differences that it gives ATLUS a lot to play with and bring to the table with his character. In fact, it's half thanks to him (and half of the Tyrant Morax being portrayed by Takaya Kuroda, Kiryu's seiyuu, in SMT SJ Redux) that I looked into Strange Journey and was instantly hooked. So long story short about Mastema: he's a real shady son of a bitch. So obviously evil and up to no good, yet he does it with a certain grace that few can pull off even when he's doing ridiculous shit like digging through the floor like a dog trying to bury a bone (this is a real thing that happens). And it's also really satisfying to see him lose in any capacity. It would take too long for me to list everything I like about him so here are some of his greatest hits in SMT SJ and SMTV Vengeance:

Strange Journey:

The aforementioned digging a hole in the floor is from this game. He does it to save the protag and another character, Zelenin, from being captured in a hellish rococco torture palace, but it's so funny that someone so graceful and dignified just goes Dog Mode.

This is a twofold thing: firstly you later encounter him in the dungeon themed after a shopping mall which he looks completely out of place in. Second, he helps you create an item called a Shibboleth through some very... interesting means. The item in question is used to try and separate that dungeon's boss from a ship it is trying to consume and the whole ordeal is extremely wacky. And yes, there is a small joke about Zelenin being able to say Shibboleth (iykyk).

If you choose to go down the Chaos path, he gets completely and utterly roasted by this game's version Lucifer when you defeat him which is a treat to watch and is very justified (considering his grand plan to fuck over humanity is actually just a means for him to get a fancy promotion. Classy.)

SMTV Vengeance:

He decides the best way to stop the local girlbosses from draining people of their life essence (magatsuhi) is to turn them into salt statues. He even demonstrates this on the main group's resident loser and, poor Dazai, everyone's reaction is to be horrified but then kind of shrug it off and leave him in Mastema's care? I know they're supposed to be teenagers in a situation that even adults aren't equipped to handle, but wow good job leaving your friend in the care of Mr. Seraphic Shady here guys. Surely this can only end well!

Through some fun fusion-esque shenanigans, he is one third of the brutal bonus boss Satan (who looks cool as heck in this game). In some texts, he is synonymous with Satan so this is a fun callback.

Just... just watch this.

figure out my gender??????????????? probably switch to like they/she pronouns or something bc i realized that every time i post something on twitter/snapchat/tumblr/whatever i always refer to myself as a “a foolish child who makes bad financial decisions” or “a person who makes their wallet cry” or like “guess who just spent like $40 on a steam sale???? this kidddddddddd” like ive always just been unconsciously referring to myself in like third person or they/them/gender neutral pronouns?????? like. i dont think that in any tweet/toot/snap ive ever written i’ve called myself something like “a foolish girl” or “a girl who makes her wallet cry” or anything so like theres that. and honestly ive made/been making some posts about this gender thing for like the past year. ive asked the cool mods at feminism and media about it (ill post the screenshot later). ive changed my main tumblr about page which i dont think anyone’s ever visited since it’s listed under “hi” and like maybe i should change it to “about”? anyways ive like changed most of my stuff online to be something like “gender questioning, but she/her pronouns are fine for now” or like “gender questioning/probably nonbinary” and then just straight up changed my facebook pronouns to they/them (but im p sure my family hasnt noticed thank goodness cuz thats not a can of worms i wanna explain to a bunch of religious baby boomers rn), changed my myanimelist gender to non-bianary (again why is this a thing? a rando blue anime hellsite is not the place i expected to have this option but like im not complaining so lol), and also put “gender questioning, probably non-binary” in the write in gender option on goodreads so like. uhhh. i guess im probably non-binary????? but also im a terrible and indecisive person so like every time i say im probably non-binary my stupid brain goes back to bein like. wait is this some internalized misogyny that makes me not want to be a girl/cis girl? but also i find the dysphoria memes/jokes on the egg_irl subreddit really relatable and its just a bad cycle in which i go “oh these gender dysphoria memes on a trans subreddit are really relatable” -> “huh maybe. im not a girl???” -> brain awakened to being not a girl -> self doubt of brain might have internalized misogyny -> haha im a cis girl even tho i always refer to myself with they/them pronouns in writing -> haha wait that doesnt sound right a cis person wouldnt refer to themself with gender neutral pronouns right -> i know, ill go to a sub that i know makes gender dysphoria jokes and caused this self doubt/gender questioning in the first place with dumb jokes like “would you push a button?” and this meme but replace the “im bi” with “im ace” -> haha these gender dysphoria jokes are really relatable -> oh no (repeat this hell cycle of self doubt for 2 years and its me haha) 

regarding the above example sentences of steam sales and my finances, uhhhh, i wanna play more video games this year. and actually finish them. because i think according to steamdb or whatever account rating site it is, my account’s games net worth is something ridiculous like $600. and like. ive only played like 30% of the stuff i own. so uh. i should get my moneys worth and play stuff

the above resolution also may have some exceptions due to technical issues or time since some games, mostly japanese visual novels like steins;gate, are not compatible with macbooks i guess maybe they’re not popular with gamers (not surprising the macbooks has terrible venting lol) and also maybe not popular in japan so japanese companies just dont think to port things to mac os??? idk what the issue is here exactly but like since im in a college dorm and not at home ill only have access to my macbook for a majority of the time.

also there was this whole like haha cant relate brain reaction to my school’s vagina monologues event when i went in to listen to my nursing major friend have some monologue. like she talked about some thing about like delivering a baby and it was kinda near the end of the event bc i got there late and the ones that i did hear at the end were just like haha cant relate but also ive been told that the monologues that year were particularly terf-y, probs in response to my college turning co-ed (it was up until i think 2 years before i entered a womens college and the older students, alumni and current students that were there at the time, were apparently super pissed about it, so the school i guess doubled down on “(cis) girl power!” but also kinda excluded trans/gender queer ppl that weren’t cis girls in the process)

So my list of Dragon Age protags goes like this:

Worldstate 1. Iron Aeducan (female dwarf, assertive-mischievous, bi), Flita Hawke (female human, nice, lesbian), Noraak Adaar (fem-nonbinary, introspective, ace/biro Qunari)

Worldstate 2. Wendel Amell (human, nonbinary he/him, good boy, mage, gay), Lyle Hawke (male human, smart aleck bi/gayro), Samahl Lavellan (male elf, sarcastic wry dadvibes, gay)

So I’m thinking elf for Dragon Age 4? Like yeah I know, me and everybody else. But for Worldstate 1, they haven’t had an elf yet, and I kind of want a playful dumbass type. In WS2 I had Samahl but he’s too old and experienced to have dumbassery. Plus every time I do a blind play of anything, I end up attributing my own dumbassery to the character I’m rping, even when it doesn’t make sense; when I first went to the Oasis in Inquisition, I spent four hours hopping around trying to get on top of the biggest stone arch, which you technically shouldn’t be able to do (I did). Yeah so uh Noraak is great at parkour but she wouldn’t do that lmao. I want to make a new character who would absolutely do that, and for little to no reason.

For Worldstate 2 however, either dwarf or Qunari, I think... Dwarf would make more sense, since Titans are going to be a thing, but I can’t promise that I won’t see the option for a horned dragon ripped humanoid and not go HELL YEAH A FUCKING GIANT DRAGON DEMON PERSON just like I did with Noraak. That’s literally the only reason I would choose Qunari, but it’s a powerful one. As for the personality, that’ll be decided after I play through WS1, as intended.

As for fighting style? I really don’t want to choose “mage” for the elf, because that’s so overdone at this point, and also I want them to have a reason to not relate to Solas... but also I really fucking like magic, and considering WS2, I won’t play another Qunari mage, and I can’t play a dwarf mage, so... If I do go with a not-mage elf for WS1, I’m probably going to do the second most cliche thing and make them an archer, since I haven’t done that yet. And in WS2, knives. Lmfao, rogues. Rogues everywhere.

Also I did not notice until I wrote it out that all of my feminine characters are in WS1 and the masculine are WS2? Yeah. We’ll be switching that up. (But if they’re allowing body sliders I’m going to make one of these fuckers SO androgynous the Vints won’t know what they’re dealing with... Probably the dumb elf? But an androgynous dwarf is also on the table.)

And if you’r familiar with Visillen, and her ordeal? I know what you’re thinking. She was the Warden, she was the Inquisitor, is she going to Tevinter next? Answer: probably. If the origin for the DA4 protag is playable, I’ll make up an excuse as to how she got there. This is the Worldstate where I roleplay so hard I twist “canon” into a multidimensional pretzel. She WAS a Surana, why is she a Lavellan? She was adopted after running away from the Wardens, duh. Why does Cullen not remember her? Blood magic, duh. And Leliana?? Leliana thinks this situation is funny and says nothing. So, in DA4, if the elf-mage gets an origin? Fuck it Visillen went to Tevinter, met some real blood mages, lost the battle and got amnesia’d. She was Solas’s love interest so that would be fucking terrible, you’re welcome. All I know is that Dragon Age Hero(?) is Visillen’s starring role and Hawke was lucky that they couldn’t be an elf.
