many people were confused about some of my previous posts, so for the sake of clarity i am condensing everything! tumblr has extremely transphobic moderation practices, often flagging completely innocent posts as explicit, solely for containing trans women in them or mentioning transgenderism. while letting untagged porn in sfw tags (ive literally seen porn tagged as "sfw agere") and blatent hatespeech, especially twards trans people (just look at the "gender critical" tag) go completely unchecked recently the CEO of tumblr had a big public hissyfit about people (rightfully) calling him transmysogenistic, going into random trans womens dms to harrass them, and saying that predstrogen saying she "hopes he explodes with hammers and then explodes again and hammers fly everywhere" is a death threat and saying he is calling the FBI on her (repeatedly misgendering her and calling her "it") and many bloggers, apon speaking out about it or even making harmless jokes (one trans woman posted a picture of a car and a hammer with the caption "reblog to scare matt" and got nuked for it) and many are very very angry (rightfully) about this whole affair and tumblr in general. if you would like to look into it i reccomend scrolling the "predstrogen" tag as she is the case most people are talking about at the moment. So, what can we do? this is clearly an ongoing issue, and, dispite having lost a lawsuit about their transphobic moderation in the past (see : https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21274288-tumblr-nycchr-settlement) its clearly not gonna stop with just user complaints, as staff members are perfectly content to just go scorched earth on users who even so much as lightly poke fun at them well if you want to help you should contact the human rights commision (i will give clear details further down) ! you dont have to be in the US, nor be an adult to file, and it only takes a few minutes. this is the best and most effective method to fix this, because it hits tumblr where it hurts. human rights acencies have a lot of legal and financial power and tumblr CAN NOT just ignore them, and given that this will be the seccond time this is happening, the commisions shouldnt be playing nice anymore eaither. its really important that AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE FILE, and with different examples! while maybe your case might not be enough to prop up a lawsuit on its own, we need to prove a general trend. so every little bit counts! to respond to another question abt this ive gotten, as for what exactly to report, you should a) write about an act of discrimination youve recieved on tumblr that was eaither administered by a staff member OR that staff refused to give adequate moderation action in for example : a terf posted some blatent hatespeech targeted twards you, and you reported them, and staff looked at the issue and refused to persecute it. example 2 : you were unfairly flagged, deleted, or otherwise punished by a staff member and you are queer ( AND the post they banned you for has some kind of tie to your gender, ex : a sfw transition progress photo ) OR b) if you have not personally recieved something like that, please look for other peoples stories (THEY SHOULDNT BE HARD TO FIND, within the last couple of hours trans people have been being banned LEFT AND RIGHT for trying to speak on this. i would reccomend checking some of the tags related to what happened with predstrogen) and you should describe that incident as best as possible (be sure to disclose that you are speaking for someone else, ideally you should tell the story of someone you know, if possible.) you can also mention any reports you have made twards people posting blatent hatespeech that, opon reveiwing tumblr refused to prosecute dispite it being very obviously against terms of service. just so nobody gets confused about the filing process, im laying it out in more plain languadge!!

first you should email the SF HRC (san francisco human rights commision), at hrc.info@sfgov.org and say something along these lines :

(for links, include both a live link and an archival link, so take a capture with the internet archive and have that as an alternative, incase a staff member gets petty.) this should only take a few minutes at most, and it helps alot! you can fill this out if you are a minor, and you dont have to be a us resident, please please take the time!!! and, just to clarify because there are many posts going around that are confused about this tumblr moved offices to san francisco recently, so their main HQ is at : 60 29th St, San Francisco, CA 94110 they DO still have an office in new york city, and thats where their PREVIOUS HQ was, the address is : 770 Broadway, New York, NY 10003

A witchcraft basics doc; update, resource call, interest check, and a possible second doc

Bet most of you didn't even know I was working on this >:D

Yes this is a huge post. It's a lot of things.

So, one of my first posts ever on this blog was me mentioning that a friend of mine had NO clue what they were signing up for when asking for the basics of witchcraft. The google doc I wrote took on a life of its own, and the post did as well when people started asking for it. I still plan to tag said people when I post it, assuming they haven't deactivated. The thing is, this doc had become a proper project, and it took a long time for me to have the motivation to work on it again. Now, though, it seems to me like a damn good way to reconnect to my craft after a rut! (which, by the way, is why I've been offline.)

So, my first post back is for a couple of reasons. For one, if you have any resources you'd think would be useful for beginner witches, feel free to shoot me an ask, DM, or comment/reblog on this post! I'll have a list of things I'm putting in the doc (taking recommendations there as well) at the bottom of this post.

The other thing is that I might end up making a second doc, one that's a little less "101" in vibe. It would have a MAJOR MAJOR UPG warning on it, first off, and I'm not sure whether or not I would be marking any UPG either since this would essentially be a second Grimoire/Book of Shadows for me that would be public to others for the sake of sharing information! I can't say I'd call it "advanced witchcraft" by any means, I'm not very fancy lol, but I don't want the basics doc to get too overwhelming. I do, however, want to scream about random witchcraft topics that interest me. So this is also a bit of an interest check for that, as well as the basics doc.

FINAL NOTE: I fully plan on posting this basics doc before it's done. Some sections will be unwritten or unfinished, because if I wait until I find it "finished" I'll never post it. It's going to be added onto whenever I can, but I feel as though getting it out is the best course of action.

where someone could go from here* (including sigils, tarot, crystals bc my friend likes rocks lol, maybe astrology but oh god I have nothing about that it makes my brain hurt just looking at an astrology chart /pos. I will probably make a list of stuff that I could add in this section.)

I did not even see the post until right before I got this ask. yall are so damn terminally online that you lost the gd plot and cannot comprehend someone not keeping their finger on the dying pulse of the performative activism headquarters of the internet. and you definitely can't comprehend waiting for complete info or maybe just a full day before starting some reactionary bs. just peeking in here since yesterday i see that simblr is yet again so hyped up on smelling its own farts that it's turned an issue of genocide into yet another dick measuring contest of who can reblog more posts than one another the fastest so they can look more empathetic and better than anyone else. and call themselves "real activists" for being able to click the reblog button. not to mention the usual spamming anons to random people minding their own business. yall are weird as fuck and need to get a firm grip on some grass. stop making the horrific suffering of others about yourselves for once.

that being said, let me get serious for the people on here that are actually normal. for those that don't know by now, this anon seems to be referencing this post about cf, which talks about overwolf (the company that owns curseforge) donating to the IDF. But I also found this tweet by OOP made after that post that explains they have since received DMs from Overwolf stating that they have shifted their relief efforts to aiding victims that have lost their homes from the Hamas terrorist attacks exclusively and do not fund the IDF. this is a much better cause as the victims of terrorism definitely deserve to be helped, and it makes sense they would do this as an Israeli company. The DMs also clarify that it is donation based and nothing uploaded to cf (cc/mods) contributes to this effort whatsoever. As well as Overwolf/Curseforge revenue in general. So simply using curseforge does not mean that you fund or endorse genocide. OOP calls their new efforts commendable in that tweet but I am still looking into and keeping an eye on this matter since, as we know, more information could come out later that contradicts this. And since I have been away im still catching up on everything that has been posted relating to cf.

here are the pics for those that may not have Twitter. do I still support a boycott for those that want to? oh, absolutely. I know that many will still want to boycott regardless, and I'll be working to add alt links to my cc uploads as soon as possible (the ones that don't already have them) for those that don't want to use it. However, everyone I've seen wanting to boycott seems to want to do it because a) they believe overwolf is funding the IDF (apparently is not true) b) they believe having their uploads on cf or downloading from there will fund the IDF (apparently is not true) or c) overwolf itself is an Israeli company (is definitely true). therefore based on the new info we now have some may decide not to boycott after all or will still do so, it is a personal decision. will I be deleting my account there? for now, no.

to be completely honest, I'm in a really bad place financially right now, and while it isn't much, the little bit I get from cf downloads has been exclusively going towards my meds and dr appointment bills. I don't have the option right now to turn down the small amount of added income when I am currently living day to day, especially with the updated knowledge that simply having cc uploaded there does not contribute to their donation efforts in any way. I do not paywall my cc and never will and I do not ask for donations myself, so my options are somewhat limited. although I do not make cc with the aim of getting paid, I ultimately wouldn't be able to justify the sheer amount of time I spend on it if it wasn't helping me with my medical bills currently, as I am already caregiving with the majority of my time. I'm not reliant on cc making or cf to live, and I never want that to be the case god forbid, but in full transparency it is helping me with my healthcare expenses atm and I cannot afford to neglect my health anymore than I have. especially since, as established earlier, using cf does not contribute to the IDF in the first place. so I personally do not judge anyone that continues to use cf for this reason.

also, for the record so there is no confusion on my personal views, I fully support the freedom of Palestine and condemn genocide first and foremost, as well as terrorism and antisemitism. The current situation in Gaza is abhorrent and I encourage all my followers to not only reblog posts, but educate yourselves on the situation and bring it irl as you are able. Speak with the people you love as well as those you are acquainted with and bring this to this to their attention (if you feel safe to). Attend protests if you can. If you cannot, make the calls and emails to your representatives, sign petitions, and donate as you are able. I have been seeing that even spreading Palestinian culture among your loved ones and peers is helpful. So even if you are in a bad place mentally, that may be an option to spread the positive message of the Palestinian people in your everyday life. In addition, be kind. To others and yourself. Try to see the full damn picture instead of a snapshot. What someone posts on tumblr of all places does not reflect an entire person's being, or their efforts, or their heart. Yelling your head off on this dying website does not equal activism, and running your mental health into the ground taking on the weight of the world doesn't give you any more control over the issues we face- I learned that the hard fucking way, believe me. By all means share as much as you like, every bit helps (especially if you have a lot of followers), but keep in mind that it certainly doesn't make you better than anyone else. I know it's extremely difficult to feel helpless and you want to feel like you're doing something, but just make sure you're doing the right things for the right reasons. Please do not fucking attack random people for not responding within one business day of the latest info coming out. And take time away from all this shit to breathe. You can't help anyone if you're fucked up yourself. especially for those of us that already face discrimination and bigotry every day irl, I know it is exhausting. Open World

You may come across a Safe Place. In this space you can not be attacked, so its a good idea to eat some food and heal up.

To Prevent being Stuck in One Location, if you can not find the exit in 5 spins an npc will direct you to it if you like!

Random Encounter

You may Gain Items such as Food or Weapons

You may be Attacked, in which case we switch to our Battle Wheel

You may perform a Completely Pointless and Silly Action

As of right now, the Battle Wheel is entirely RNG/Luck based! I unfortunately have not figured out a way to properly incorporate Weapons, but Food plays an important role! When you begin to collect Damage, our Death Wheel will spin Every Press of The Button.

Eating Food will prevent the Death Wheel from spinning, and even possibly Heal Injuries if you are very lucky!

Beware of Inventory Limit! It varies based on your Items and your Bag Size. At the beginning your Bag Size is TWO, One Per Hand. (Or in the event of Handless Friends, One in Mouth and One Tiny Bag)

Now lets break down our Battle Wheel, our Death Wheel, and our Fainting Wheel

Battle Wheel

You may randomly Run, Evade, Attack, Call for Help, or Faint

With Each Action there is a chance of receiving No Injuries, Mild Injuries, Severe Injuries, Fainting, or Death

As you fight you may collect Damage. Once you have gotten 5 Mild Injuries, 3 Severe Injuries, or 3 Mild Injuries with 2 Severe Injuries, the Death Wheel Starts to Spin

If you Successfully Call for Help, or Faint, The NPC will now roll the Attack Wheel with you. The Attacker will usually focus on the NPC, but there is a chance the NPC will roll to Run Away.

Fainting Wheel

If you Faint in a Battle the mechanics are simple. Do you wake up, or not?

Eating Bad Food can cause Fainting, in which case the wheel will spin automatically but so will the Random Encounters, meaning you may be Attacked while asleep unless you are in a Safe Place

Death Wheel

Once you have Acquired a certain amount of Damage the Death Wheel starts spinning with each Press of The Button

You can prevent this by choosing to Eat, but you can not spin the Attack Wheel while Eating.

In Defense of Elmer

Le sigh.

I didn't want to make a separate post to this, but my response was too long to reblog it with the original post. This post is a response to the "I Hate Elmer" post made by @puffskeeter , linked here.

This isn't a post made to attack OP,  to cancel them, and/or to call them out. I'm not even asking OP to delete it. This is just me critiquing their post and the problems I have with it.

So I'll start by saying, I completely disagree with a majority of it. Originally, I was not gonna say anything and just go on about my merry way, but this post is just completely unfair and it leaves nasty implications that I feel need to be addressed.

1. Does anyone know why kids eat glue? Or more specifically, why Elmer eats glue? FUN FACT: kids usually don't eat glue because they can. He could've been curious, he could be addicted to it, he could see eating glue as a way to rebel or seek attention, he could have other issues like pica. While I don't condone eating glue, there are plenty of reasons why kids could potentially eat glue. Any one of these reasons could be used to build off of Elmer's character. It's a weird talking point, I know, but it's a place to start.

2. What gives off the impression that Elmer is "autistic coded"? What traits have Elmer shown the audience to hint that he could be portrayed as someone with autism? He doesn't seem to struggle with social cues. He has no problem maintaining eye contact. We don't see him struggle to understand emotions. We don't ever see him get over-stimulated over "mundane things". And he doesn't seem to have any special interests. I understand that autism is a spectrum and not a "one size fits all", but the only traits I could maybe see Elmer having to be considered autistic would be his trouble communicating/shyness and his weird eating habits. But the reason he's quiet and shy and hesitant to speak in "Paste Makes Waste" isn't because he's autistic; it's because he's being BULLIED. He's trying not to be perceived by Mitch and the rest of the class, and because he's being bullied, he's struggling with self-esteem. The fact that he eats glue in ONE EPISODE, as I've stated previously, could be for a number of reasons other than autism. There's nothing wrong with headcanoning that Elmer is autistic, but the only reason OP seems to think Elmer is autistic coded is because he's "weird" and "alone". And that's not okay.

3. The episode, "Paste Makes Waste" is around 15-20 minutes long, there's only so much they could do with Elmer to make some random kid "the one-off villain of the day" and have it make sense.

"... But its also just a complete rewrite of his character while keeping his design similar. IDK i just think it would serve a better purpose if ppl used a different character as the "Nerdy friend" instead of Elmer because of how badly "Paste makes Waste" handled his character.

4. You stated earlier that you despised Elmer because he had no personality. But here, you're stating that you don't like when the small handful writers (because let's be honest, not many people tend to include Elmer in their fics to begin with) try to make him more than the paste eater from kindergarten. See how hypocritical that sounds? He was five years old, is anyone the same person they were when they were five? Would it be more realistic if he just sat around eating glue for the entirety of the fic so he'd "stay in character"? Should Mitch continue torturing small animals for the hell of it? Should the Powerpuff Girls only wear their signature colors and similar dresses for the rest of their lives? Is no one allowed to change who they are and grow as a person? There is a discussion to be had about writing characters OOC, but the post said earlier that Elmer had no personality to begin with, so how could he be OOC if he isn't much of a character to begin with?

5. Why police how people write certain characters? Am I saying Elmer was the best written character in the entire franchise? Of course not. But that doesn't mean people can't try to write fresh interpretations of him, or attempt to fix him if someone has the same problems with Elmer's character like this post does.

"... But i hate Elmer's episode because "imaginary Fiend" (the Episode about Mike Believe) has the exact same message with a similar character idea (Autistic coded and socially awkward/ excluded) but actually manages to NOT present mike as dangerous or disgusting like "Paste makes Waste" does with Elmer."

6. To say that "Imaginary Fiend" and "Paste Makes Waste" have the exact same message is such a fallacy. And to compare Mike to Elmer in this manner is so unfair.

For starters, Mike was never bullied. Alienated, sure, but for a��very different reason. Mike was the new kid, and he chose to isolate himself from the rest of the class. He was laughed at for "talking to himself" and having an "imaginary friend", yes, but being laughed at and bullied are not the same. There's no evidence to suggest that any of the students dislike Mike for any particular reason. In fact, on multiple occasions, Mike's peers have been portrayed to be open-minded and accepting of new students/people in their classroom  They welcomed the Powerpuff Girls in open arms in the movie, several students invited Princess Morbucks to play with them on multiple occasions in "Stuck Up, Up and Away" despite her snooty rejections, and they (with the exception of the Powerpuff Girls) didn't bat an eye at Mr. Green when he substituted for Ms. Keane in "Substitute Creature". Initially, Mike has no reason to resent his peers or hold any sort of grudge against them, he's just shy. Mike also doesn't have an antagonistic role (or an active role tbh) in his episode like Elmer does in his, so it's evident to see that Mike is potrayed in a much better light than Elmer was.

Once again, the term "autistic coded" is used to describe Elmer and now, Mike. And once again, the only real trait Mike has to suggest he might be autistic would be his trouble with communicating with others. Once again, just because someone has trouble communicating with others does not mean they are autistic. It's not uncommon for any five year old kid to be nervous in a new setting where they don't know anyone. And to suggest he has trouble communicating with others is a stretch in itself, he had no problems talking to Patches, or telling Ms. Keane who Patches was, and how Patches was disrupting the classroom and essentially framed by him.

The lessons learned at the end of Elmer's episode were that bullying is wrong, don't fall into peer pressure, and learn when to apologize. There isn't much of a lesson to Mike's episode.

Mike's episode looks better on paper, as well, but they do not have the same message. "Imaginary Fiends" is about a guy who's too shy to make friends, so he makes his own imaginary friend come to life, who causes trouble for his classmates. Meanwhile, "Paste Makes Waste" is about a boy who's being bullied, who mutates into a glue monster and uses his new found power to retaliate against the bullies and takes his anger out against other innocent bystanders. There is something to be said about Elmer's episode and the parallels you can draw about this episode and the current political climate in regards to school shootings. But to reiterate, Elmer is 5 or 6 years old at best. It's their first year of schooling ever, these kids are just learning how to read, write, and arithmetic. He doesn't know how to properly process his emotions, nor does he have the life experience needed to know how to handle being bullied for what likely is his first time. And Elmer's shown to be remorseful at the end of the fight and toward the end of the episode, to be quite honest, you could just chalk it up to a kindergarten having a temper tantrum.

Speaking of dangerous, no one saw Elmer as such until he attacked the students, which to be honest, is fair enough. He attached the twins to a plane mid-flight, stuck Mitch on the top of the school flagpole, and wrecked havoc all throughout Townsville. Once he calmed down from hearing Buttercup's apology, the threat was eliminated. If we were still supposed to see Elmer as dangerous afterwards, they wouldn't have bothered showing us a scene of a monstrous Elmer helping rebuild the city. Townsville has no qualms with arresting five year olds, if Elmer was as dangerous as you claim, he'd be behind bars.

And while eating glue is gross, it's rather tame compared to the other, more disgusting moments in the show. Buttercup doesn't bathe for days in "Down 'N Dirty", the Rowdyruff Boys were created in a prison toilet and used their Chemical X enhanced flatulence to knock out the girls in their debut episode, there's the nightmare fuel that is "Cootie Gras", Bubbles eats a roach in "Bubble Boy", and the army of roaches in "Insect Inside".

I could keep going, but I won't because this is long enough. In conclusion, this wasn't made to suddenly make anyone like Elmer. It's completely fine if people don't like him or anyone else (assuming it's not discriminatory), just be honest as to why. To claim that Elmer (and to a lesser extent, Mike) is "autistic coded" because he's ostracized and weird (and for you to say that you don't like him because you believe he is that way), is very harmful to people with autism. Had this post just been OP stating their opinions and beliefs as to why they don't like Elmer, I wouldn't have been bothered by it. But to attempt to hide personal, biased thoughts behind the notion that the show forces us to think of Elmer this way is deceitful. And to put Mike on a pedestal, who's objectively seen as a better character morally, just to shit on Elmer is cheap.

TLDR: I be going through it

hello lovely people of tumblr who have wondered where i went (if there are any lol). i've been completely focusing my energy on just trudging through life as it is right now, which is one of the reasons why i kind of stopped posting. i've been scared, stressed, tired and lonely. but mostly, i've been trying to ignore all those feelings and focus my energy on stuff that it desperately needed to be focused on. to write the type of posts that i post here, i need quite a lot to be able to genuinely make a breakthrough to the optimistic side of things and phrase them eloquently enough so that i can confidently send my thoughts into the world. but i haven't had that for the last couple of months, at all. that's one reason. the other is a lot more... childish 😅

so the following reason only contributed like 20% to me posting less and less. its not a major reason, just a minor one that took more words to explain. the main and the biggest reason is one i already wrote above. but anyways, here's the tinier ones of the two (big issue less wors, small issue more words. ha! the irony lol):

before i completely stopped posting, the interactions on my posts and even my blog started going lower and lower. that made me really underconfident about my posts, and made me wonder if they are even helpful anymore, if they are even susbstancial enough anymore, to add to the already words crowded world. everytime i post, i ask myself, "is this even worth sending out into the world for someone else to see?" and if the answer from my gut is no, i don't post it, because i only want to send out stuff that is actually helpful. i know that i shouldn't care and take up space anyways, or it might seem like i'm being reblog hungry or something like that, but for writers, public feedback is quite the factor in posting or not posting. so when i started feeling like my words weren't as helpful anymore, i started getting harsher on every post and filtered them out more than before. and then the "posting inconsistently causing lesser interaction" kicked in too, which caused my then rare posts to perform even worse.

there were other things too, of course, but the major issue was the fist one. so yeah, scared, stressed, tired and lonely me couldn't whip out much optimistic things. i rambled a lot in this post so if you actually read all of that, i'm astounded at your patience and kindness. thanks for caring about me, a random person, enough to read that giant wall of text. thankyou.

Ok, I feel like if you exclude familial relationships like Nya and Lloyd, (andromanticrelationshipslikeColecuzthisismyheadcanon) Zane and Kai are most definitely best friends.

(I know I made that post a while ago about Kai and Jay's dynamic and don't get me wrong those two are another example of why the ninja are the found family of ever, but you can tell that sometimes they just get really fed up with each other lol)

Like, dont quote me on this but I'm pretty sure those two haven't even had a really serious argument since SEASON ONE, Kai was the one to deliver that speech at Zane's funeral, speaking of which he was utterly distraught after those events, they were together at the beginning of s8 (much like the CANON bff's, Jay and Cole), they had a lot of fun interactions in s9 when Jay was really out of it, and the entirety of their scenes in s13 were just gold, and thats just the big stuff I can come up with off the top of my head. I guarantee there's a lot more subtle moments and definitely more big ones that I just can't recall rn (I mean, I completely skipped over seasons 4-7) and the more I think abt it the more I realize how well these two work together. In fact, I remember reblogging smth abt their dynamic as the ones to step up as leaders/advisors or even making plans when the others can't and don't even get me started on the fact that they're literally opposite elements. Istg you could sum up their whole relationship by saying they balance each other out. Kai is impulsive and emotional normally but thinks logically when it really counts, and Zane thinks everything through logically but still makes purely emotionally driven decisions when tensions are running high enough. Kai has his whole 'hot-shot and I would kill for this family' personality that sometimes leaves him a little morally gray, and Zane's morals are so deeply embedded into who he is that the idea of protecting someone who can't protect themselves is enough to remind him who he is when he literally should have no memory of ever hearing those words in that order and had never even heard of a white lie before s13. They're both really sweet and care about the people close to them a lot, but Zane tends to express those feelings in words while Kai speaks more with his actions. Zane is more mellow while Kai has higher energy, I could go on and on. My point is, they balance each other's extremes out wonderfully and have just enough in common to be even closer than a purely 'opposites attract' friendship and the rest of the team would fall apart without those two and their dynamic 😌

I'm in some kind of abusive cycle with the blog where people submit their dreams. I love hearing people's dreams, so I follow it thinking it's going to be interesting, and then I have to unfollow because it feels like 90% of the posts are about celebrities and fandom shit, then I forget about it for a while until a really cool/funny/scary/weird dream gets reblogged onto my dash, then I follow it again out of some kind of moronic optimism, and pretty soon I remember why I unfollowed it the last time. I'm not sure which possibility is the worst,

a) that for the most part people only submit dreams involving celebrities or fandoms because they assume no one cares about anything else,

b) most of the submissions are made up but nobody has the brain power to invent anything that doesn't involve celebrities or fandoms,

c) actually a large volume of young people's dreams really are about celebrities and fandoms, like a lot of tumblr users just don't even dream about anything else.

Now that I've typed it all out I'm pretty sure (c) is the worst of all possible worlds, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were really true for a lot of people just based on the sort of online behavior I see. There's a reason the "blorbo from my stories" post blew up (and I often wonder if that person regrets it), about how you can post the most random non-human image possible and you'll still have people in your notifications explaining how it somehow represents whatever their main fandom thing is; "fandom" doesn't describe an interest or even a community anymore, its more like this condition of extreme narrowing of perception and cognition down to like one subject, and somehow this is something you're proud of. Seeing people reblog the blorbo post not to co-sign what OP was saying, but to say "Yay this is totally me!!!" with no sense that they're being criticized was really disturbing. There's actually an even worse version of this where somebody broke down the most common (generally sexual) characterizations and scenarios in fan fiction specifically to show how much of this content just perpetuates really ugly stereotypes and bigoted attitudes, but the fandom people got it and reblogged it like "Yay this is totally me!!!" while OP was going...oh my god doesn't anyone understand what I said? There's this kind of scary, culty "FANDOM GOOD" thing that's like so pathological that it actually affects people's reading comprehension and makes them unable to even perceive criticism unless you push things to the extreme and bring nazis or pedophiles or something into it, you have to go so far as to tell someone they're a bad person to break through with them.

Anyway I know this isn't a scientific fact but I agree with the popular notion that dreams are a way of processing experiences and feelings that you're not done chewing on yet. For the most part your dreams should be made up of things, however filtered they are through symbolic language, that are somehow unresolved for you. You shouldn't be closing your eyes at night and just seeing a stream of the exact same pacifying stuff you choose to watch on TV. If that's happening more than once in a great while, you might have given yourself some form of brain damage, and I'm only being slightly sarcastic about that.

(Actually I think it's probably abnormal if you have a lot of wish fulfillment dreams in general; I used to have this friend who turned out to be completely toxic and nuts, and he was always happy to tell me these dreams he had where like he's a cross between Batman and Superman and he punishes everyone who was ever mean to him and then everyone worships him and he becomes the king of the universe or whatever. And I always thought oh my god, why isn't he embarrassed by this, if I had dreams like that about myself where I'm the best person ever and everyone else is either my victim or my slave, I don't think I would repeat it to anyone! But ANYWAY)

I've probably written this post before without even realizing it, which means I have my own problem where I need to disconnect from this thought process. Tumblr used to be a place where you could see weird, cool, interesting stuff that didn't really exist elsewhere, and it was reasonably easy to curate your experience; now the fandom thing is just at such a critical mass that it feels like you're always about one degree of separation from it no matter what you do. When capacity made that post the other day about how you can't even search for any media you're interested in on tumblr because all you get is the fan activity around the thing and not the thing itself (or god forbid your search involves a normal English word that happens to relate to a fandom, then you're really fucked)--when I first saw that post it had almost 8,000 notes and it was only 7 hours old. Whether you're someone who likes it or not, everyone knew what that was about, we are all experiencing it.

I would probably be slightly less bothered if I just let myself think that all the celebrity and fandom posts clogging up that dream blog are mainly just made up, due to whatever compulsion makes people make up inconsequential bullshit on the internet. I remember when FML was a thing, and at first it was kind of fun and kind of like this shared catharsis thing, but pretty quickly it became full of obviously fake stories that were so extreme they weren't even funny, like if someone said those things out loud in your presence you'd just feel sorry for them, that they want attention so bad they'll tell degrading lies about themselves to get it. Actually though the site started to degenerate into basically two kinds of content, which were not necessarily mutually exclusive, but it was always either people telling degrading lies about themselves for attention, or people telling elaborate stories about how they ate all kinds of poisonous garbage and then they shat themselves in public. And for one thing, I don't think it counts as a proper FML if you deliberately did something that was not a good idea and then immediately suffered the most predictable consequences, you know like eating hot cheetoes in gravy and washing it down with a liter of grape soda and then shitting your pants is kinda the same as "I knowingly stepped in front of a speeding car and it hit me and I was badly injured and now I'm in the hospital, fuck my life!", it's not really a surprising misfortune or irony, it's just something you did on purpose because you have no self-control even though only one outcome was possible. But I always had the feeling that the pants-shitters were American, and like obviously America has a problem with junk food, so I started to wonder if everywhere you go here you're just always near at least one person who is one more bad decision away from shitting their pants. Maybe it's true, I dunno, it's starting to seem likely. Maybe we should just change the name of the country to Pantshitsylvania and get it over with, it's probably what we deserve.

I know you mean well, but my work has found its audience, that's why it's upsetting. I'm not wishing for a bigger following, and it's not like I'm struggling to receive love, I think I've never had more interaction than on this blog. I may sound greedy or pretentious idk, but 30 notes is nothing. my fics usually reach way more, so yeah, it's a huge drop for me, it's heartbreaking. it's even more discouraging and upsetting when my notes will skyrocket especially when I'm not writing about jimin. I'm not just talking about likes here, but comments and reblogs. it has nothing to do with activity, I think. notes are random, one day a fic will have 500 notes, another day it'll have 150. but less than 50... it's so so disappointing because I feel like I did bad, that nobody is interested, that my followers just ignore my stuff... every time I post something, I'm excited to see what people think and it saddens me to just have... nothing. I know most people are active, I will never be mad at someone for being busy and not reading my fics, but as I said, most people do have time, that's why fics go viral every other day.

anyway, its really difficult to explain all of this because I feel like it's something only a writer can relate to. it's another experience. I talk a lot and I'm kinda embarrassed LOL but I don't know how to make it shorter.

at the end of the day, my passion for writing is heavenly influenced by the interaction and engagement I get. if nobody is there to read me, or is even interested in doing so, there's no point for me to share my work here.

Heyo! We've done six of these so far and it's been fun running this little game for yall. I hope its entertaining for you!

Now that we've got some under our belts I wanted to open up for feedback on a few different points. Im going to go over how ive done stuff so far, so if you have any thoughts on aspects of it you can chime in.

Putting the rest under the cut since it's kind of long.

1. Timing

So far I've tried to post new ones at sort of random times in the day so it doesn't give any one a consistent advantage. Im US Eastern and posts might go up anytime between 8am and 2am. I might even use the queue to schedule round the clock.

Another timing thing is that when someone guesses right, I give at least a few hours more before posting the reveal. It's just to give people a little more time to play, even if someone gets the answer right away. That's not to say you cant play after the reveal posts go up, but if youre anything like me, as soon as the ability to see the answer is available im clicking that link lol.

And since the reveal post tags the winner, I wait at least a few more hours for the next silhouette post so the prev winner doesnt have the advantage of being notified of the next one.

So a question here is should I wait longer or shorter on any of these areas? Do you like that its only one unrevealed at a time?

2. Difficulty level

This has been the hardest because it's a learning curve to find what's easy, what's hard, and why. There are SO many characters and runs, so it's hard to know if something I thought was memorable was even a blip on other people's radars. So ive tried to do a mix of difficulties.

Easier ones mean more people have the satisfaction of guessing and maybe getting it right, but if it's too easy then it might feel like these are puzzles for babies.

Harder ones mean a challenge and a lot of satisfaction if you figure it out or know that it's some niche thing. But if it's too hard then nobody gets it and it can feel kind of bullshit.

So what im wondering here is, do you feel like these have been too easy or too hard? Do you like it being a mix?

3. Character and image selection

If I put up a straightforward silhouette of Etrigan, everyone's going to get it and there's no challenge. On the flip side if i did a silhoutte or jason blood standing in a contextless room its like that could be literally any random man, so itd lead to random guesses. So ive been trying to find the sweet spot of the silhouette being somewhat familiar but not completely unique, and the rest of the image with some stuff going on. I think that's been going well but it does mean it relies on me and my ability to make a good little puzzle of it. So i hope I've been doing an alright job in that area.

Choosing from particular runs is interesting. I usually think of a character first then go find something they were in. Im finding the stories with other characters and team ups are good options to provide that extra context. But then the tricky part is that i have to be at least somewhat aware of whats popular and whats not. I dont want to use a panel from a run nobody read (unless its really good), and I also dont want to do one so infamous that everyone knows it like the back of their hand. So as with choosing particular images, I hope my choice of titles I'm sourcing these from has been fair.

4. How to guess

I went with tags so it encourages people to reblog and hopefully spread awareness of the blog. I think its also the easiest way people are inclined to interact per post. We couldve done asks but sometimes those get dropped by tumblr, and all the reveal posts would be answers to asks instead of standalone posts.

I like the idea that even for old ones people can still play and have fun with guessing on their own. Not sure if theres a clever way to encourage that.

And i hope the leaderboard is fun. Just a small incentive to participate. Its like saying nice job, thank you for playing.

5. Hints

As mentioned previously, if over a day goes by and nobodys got it ill post a hint. I've only done one hint so far and i was really not sure how subtle or overt i should be. Idk if anyone has thoughts about it?

It was the stupidest bad faith discourse ever but they react to everyone like this all the time and CONSTANTLY pick fights with tumblr randos about the stupidest shit and act like they're the pinnacle of righteous moral anger and whoever theyre picking a fight with deserves to be told what a shit person they are and have the ode to how much they fuckinh suck be reblogged uncritically by their 2957374728574 followers and theyre literally just being a massive bad faith dick for no reason and pretending its really important social justice to dunk on some random person who is literally also very leftwing but has an opinion very slightly different to them in some completely inconsequential way. It just punches you in the face with it's simultaneous simple childish nature--you must complete these three tasks before the full moon to prove you are still the underworld's princess :)--and it's agonizing reality clawing at Ofelia's heels with its pain and the aching realness of it all. The inescapable horrors of reality she desperately seeks relief from.

I saw someone say something like "and even at the end of it all we still don't know if it was real or of this all was a product of Ofelia's imagination" and that just blew my mind. At first I was like? Of course it's real the wall moved the book did the thing her mother improved. No one else could see it because everyone else was too human. But like. The book only did the thing when she was alone. Everything only happened when she was alone and at the very beginning it was established that Ofelia retreats into fantasy, that she doesn't live in the real world. So of course it's possible none of it was real and it was all her desperate fantasies to escape from the lingering war and abuse around her. But either way, we don't know.

Watched the movie expecting nothing for a spanish class once (had to watch any movie, picked that one mostly at random) and came out of the experience a changed person. I should rewatch it.

A.N: its been so long since I posted and I apologize. Life's been a bitch. It was overwhelming but I managed to write this short fic. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Standing in the bustling crowd, jumping to beats of "Cherry", you were sure you reached the pinnacle point of your life. Taking the job offer to babysit your cousins kid was perhaps the best thing you did. It brought you closer to your cousin and her husband, and also introduced you to one of the sweetest person on the planet. Harry freaking Styles. 

You felt your heart warm up immensely as you saw him singing his heart out. You bobbed your head to the music and let yourself free. Harry always made you comfortable. The way he looked at you, eyes filled with utmost adoration, you were sure you'd never felt so valued before.

After the last act, you pushed your way backstage and threw yourself at him, not caring for how sweaty he was.

"You were amazing, darling." You whispered as you laced your arms around his neck. He smiled down at you and nuzzled his face into the crook of you neck. He let out a content sigh, completely relaxing in your arms. The two of you stayed in each others embrace until someone coughed from behind you and whisked Harry away to the dressing room. 

You, too, hopped into your private changing room and changed into a more comfortable outfit and met Harry by the black SUV where he was talking to Sarah and Mitch. Sarah hugged you tightly and thanked you profusely for being there for her and her son. Mitch joined in on the hug and made sure to let you know just how much they appreciated you.

You smiled shyly and waved off their compliments. Harry looked at you lovingly and snuck an arm around your waist. Sarah smirked at Harry and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Well, we don't wanna keep the two lovebirds waiting!" She squealed before walking off with Mitch. 

You leaned further into Harry and rested your head on his shoulder. He hummed at the action and guided you into the car that awaited you. 

Once inside, Harry turned om the car and started driving. 

"You know, I've been working on a few songs." He looked at you sideways.

"Mhm!" You replied. You had seen him scribble away words on random peices of papers constantly. 

"Well, a few are dedicated to you. And I was wondering if you would want to listen to a rough draft of one?" He asked hopefully.

"Oh my!" Was all you could muster out. Dating the superlovable-dork of a Rockstar was one thing. But him writing songs about you? You were pretty sure your internal system had shut down.

"Love? Are you alright?" Harry asked, worried.

"No!! Um.. I mean, I'm fine. I..." 

"Its okay. You don't have to listen to it. Its fine."

"No, Harry. I want to. I was just shocked that you'd even consider me as a muse."

"Well, we have been dating for a while and I'm pretty sure you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. You complete me, love. In the best possible way."

"Oh, Harry" you exclaimed and kissed his cheek. He smiled happily and pressed play on the stereo.

"Things haven't been quite the same There's a haze on the horizon, babe It's only been a couple of days And I miss you, mm, yeah"

There wasn't any music. It was basically Harry humming the words, accompanied by the sound of ruffling of papers. You closed your eyes and let yourself melt into his voice. As the song came to an end, you looked over at him. He had stopped the car and was looking intently at you.

"We've been doin' all this late night talkin' 'Bout anythin' you want until the mornin' Now you're in my life I can't get you off my mind"

You were awestruck. A million emotions flooded you and all you could do was cry happy tears. Harry hugged you tightly.

"I love it so much. Its... overwhelming."

Harry breathed a sigh of relief and kissed you lovingly. You placed you hands on his cheek and deepened te kiss, coming apart to catch your breath. Harry looked into your eyes lovingly.

PROMISES

Summary: Steven and Marc open another door to the memories. Only this time, it's not theirs.

(Jake Lockley x reader)

A.N: I know very little about DID. All that i have written in this fic is through my limited knowledge of DID through the show and through some websites.

I also used google translate for the Spanish dialogues. If the grammar is incorrect, please send me a message and i'll correct it asap. I don't mean to disrespect anyone

Marc had to hold back Steven as he ran into every door. The smooth white tiles of the psychiatric hospital was starting to make him nauseous. Steven on the other had was livid. His whole life was a lie and all he wanted to know was the truth. He felt the tears collect in his eyes as he pushed open another door and strode in, ignoring Marc's pleas.

This memory was different than the others. It was a beautiful sunny day, on the beach. Steven knew this wasn't his memory and look over at Marc who was equally as surprised.

"This is not my memory, Steven."

"Neither is it mine, mate."

Steven looked around, trying to find out something that could link a memory. Maybe he had come here on vacation?

"Oi mate, look over there!"

Marc snapped Steven out of his thoughts. He followed Marc's gaze and saw a girl running a hand through their hair. The pair walked closed to the couple and saw a man lazily humming a song, with his eyes closed as the woman stared into the horizon, massaging his scalp.

To say that they were both shocked was an understatement. Marc was confused. He only knew of Steven as an alter. But since it was clearly his body lying on the woman's lap, he wasn't sure anymore.

"Esto es agradable" (this is nice), the woman said. Steven had never heard such a melodious voice and by the look on Marc's face neither had he. Marc was growing more confused by the second. He didn't know Spanish and had never seen you before either. But he felt a familiarity with the woman. He felt safe.

"Hmm." The man hummed, enjoying the feeling of her hands on his head. He opened his eyes and looked at her. Steven knew that look. It was one of pure love and adoration. He had seen Marc wear the same look for Layla.

"Ojalá pudiéramos quedarnos aquí para siempre." (I wish we could stay here forever) She whispered, looking down at him. He placed his palm on her cheek and she leaned into his warm touch. He picked himself off the the sand and sat next to her. 

"Oh cariño. I'm so sorry. You know that's not possible." She knew the truth about him and sighed sadly. Steven wondered why he couldn't stay longer. Who in their right mind would leave such a pretty woman?

"I can't promise you forever, my estrellita (star), but i can promise you tonight." He smashed his lips onto hers as they fell into the sand. He let his hands travel up her skirt and she let her fingers entangle in his hair. She had never felt so alive and grinned wildly at him when they broke apart for air. 

"You better fulfill your promise before you go then."

My boi is absolutely smitten the moment he sees you.

It was a normal day in training and he had a few scrapes here and there

His mother did not let him eat dinner before checking up with Dr. Yueh. Unfortunately for him, Dr. Yueh was attending his Father, leaving you, his apprentice in charge.

Paul was visibly shocked at how graceful you looked and handled his wounds. You blushed under his gaze and dressed his wounds before letting him go.

After that encounter, Paul made it his mission to get hurt every training session, even if it was the slightest of bruises.

And everytime he came into the infirmary, you'd end up falling in love with the raven haired duke just a bit more.

You found his visits endearing but also stupid. He was literally hurting himself to see you.

So the next time he came in for something silly, you didnt talk to him like you normally did. You simply prescribed some medicines on a piece of paper and walked away.

He was a bit hurt to see you ignore him. He was worried he overstepped boundaries the last time he came in.

When he opned the piece of paper, however, his face broke into a grin.

Meet me in the gardens. Doctors orders.
