One Piece Italian opening lyrics
Some time ago, I remember watching a video of a Japanese guy reacting to the Italian versions of anime theme songs. The guy didn’t really like the theme songs (musically speaking) that much. Which is absolutely fine and something I have no problem with.
First of all, because it’s simply a matter of taste and therefore pointless to argue about, and secondly, because we’re talking about something closely tied to childhood. Like all things of this kind, it’s hard to surpass the sense of nostalgia and wonder from when we were kids and things seemed much more beautiful. These memories stay with us as indelible recollections.
Unfortunately, some time has passed, and I don’t remember if the guy spoke Italian or if he was able to understand the lyrics of the song, because when he listened to the One Piece theme song, I remember thinking, “It’s a shame he didn’t watch a video with subtitles; the lyrics aren’t that bad.”
It’s probably my nostalgia speaking, but I’ve always thought that the lyrics of the One Piece theme song (in Italian) were very beautiful. So, without anyone asking me and for no particular reason, I adapted the lyrics of the theme song. Adapted because there are terms that are impossible to translate into English. Let me know your thoughts, or just read out of curiosity:
It’s a pirate ship
With a truly wild crew
An irresistible bunch
There’s a young captain
A veteran at heart
The most feared pirate
The sun rises on the horizon
The crew is already on deck
And the ship lifts anchor
Sailing towards adventure
Without a wave of fear
Never losing its compass
On this pirate ship
We ended up
Searching for that treasure called One Piece
And in this blue and gray sea
This cry rises!
Crew!
Let’s all go on the attack, come on!
Let’s see who has the courage now: nothing is more important than the treasure, but…
Who knows where it will be…
One single cry
Crew!
There’s a corsair ship!
Come on!
We are the kings of the seven seas! Nothing can stop us: now we’re here!
Forward we go! One single cry:
We are pirates, one the attack! We are pirates, on the attack! On the attack!
Day and night the flag
With a menacing skull always waves.
Wind at our back for the route
That will lead to the treasure!
One single cry, one more cry:
Crew!
Let’s all go on the attack, come on!
Let’s see who has the courage now: nothing is more important than the treasure, but…
Who knows where it will be…
One single cry
Come on!
We are the kings of the seven seas! Nothing can stop us: now we’re here!
Forward we go! One single cry:
We are pirates, one the attack! We are pirates, on the attack! On the attack!
