your biggest fan. like. front row, wearing a shirt with your name on it. 

he gasps when you throw punches like a mom watching her kid in a karate tournament.

always tries to “train” with you and ends up flat on his back every time. 

absolutely posts clips of you on his insta stories with heart emojis.

he acts cocky until he sees you knock someone out in 30 seconds.

makes it his life mission to look cooler than you in public. spoiler: he fails.

kisses your bruises like it’s romantic. it kinda is. 

super competitive during sparring. refuses to go easy even when you dominate him.

barou shoei

does NOT know how to process you at first. 

like. you fight?? professionally??

We sat down to chat with MySpace’s beloved MILLIONAIRE$ about their return to the Warped stage, old mems, and excitement for what’s to come. Learn how to LIVE FA$T and PARTY HARD before catching them at all three stops in DC, Long Beach, and Orlando this year!

How does it feel to come back and play Vans Warped Tour in 2025?

Melissa: When we got the offer, I legit was like, “REALLY? It’s actually back?!?” In my mind, it was not gonna come back.

Meredith: When I found out I was in disbelief, I was like, “Really???”

What’s your craziest Warped memory?

Melissa: [The realization] didn’t hit me until the moment I walked onto the stage for the first time. I’d never done a FESTIVAL festival…nothing like Warped Tour. I remember walking on stage and being like “Woah! Am I ready for this?”

We were treated like the losers, like the outcasts. Another girl in the band, someone threw a shoe and hit her in the face. We got a lot of shit talked to us that we laugh about now. I think it’s this redemption thing, playing this year. Like, “Fuck all you guys! Look who’s still fucking here bitch!”  

Meredith: I was going to Warped Tour every summer…I have great memories of lying to my mom and telling her I was spending the weekend at a friend’s house, and then getting in a car with a bunch of kids and driving up to Dallas in a beater not knowing if we’re gonna make it *laughs.* And then just getting a gnarly sunburn, and hanging out with my friends, not even really caring who’s on the lineup, we’re just going for the vibe.

What’s something you have to do before every performance?

Meredith: For our headline shows, we’ll have our DJ play a set, and we’ve curated that playlist with our favorite music. We hype up beforehand and dance around backstage!

Melissa: We also do our little “double double” hand thing…

Meredith: Yeah we also do uh, *patty cake/elevator hand game motion* little hand clap thing–

Melissa: And we also have nails on, so it’s like this *awkwardly does the hand motion.*

Meredith: Yeah, instead of a huddle we do a little secret handshake thing.

What’s your favorite song to perform live and why?

Melissa: I don’t know! That’s a hard one! No matter what order the set is, the first song when we jump on stage is the most hype. Also, we normally play “Alcohol” last. I think that one is so ingrained, everyone is having fun. I’m so excited to be on stage, and it’s sad to have to leave the stage, so it’s like giving my last moment of “Let’s just do it!” even if I’m exhausted.

Meredith: Yeah, that one’s just so iconic. And no matter who you are, I feel like everyone knows the words, and it’s easy to sing along even if you don’t. By that time, everyone’s balls to the walls. My favorite song is “Stay the Night.” The melody is really fun, and the dance we do to it is like old school Dream Girls vibes, and I like those types of songs.

Describe MILLIONAIRE$ in three words.

Meredith: Unapologetic. Iconic. Hot.

Melissa: Party. Besties 🫶. DGAF.

What’s your favorite part of Vans Warped Tour?

Meredith: Seeing so many friends that are also on the lineup. I think it’s really fun that we all get to do this together and it’s gonna feel almost like summer camp in a way *laughs.* Hanging out, seeing lots of friends, and watching a lot of bands that we love–there’s so many bands on the lineup that we’re both fans of. At the end of the day, even though we’re playing, we’re fans of this music, so that’s cool!

Melissa: It’s so nice to hang out again with the people we grew up listening to. Getting to see them perform and performing alongside them is a really cool feeling. I’m so happy to say they’re keeping the scene alive in Warped Tour too.

If you could collaborate with any other band or artist, who would it be and why?

Meredith: We got asked this last year at When We Were Young, and I think we said Charli XCX. That would be crazy. Maybe a metalcore band would be cool. We’re both fans of metalcore and there’s a lot of bands in the scene that are awesome right now. Yeah, I think that would be so fun!

Melissa: Yeah, and we could sing with them, or do our cutesy rap too! I would want to do a song or a tour with people that still want to keep the scene alive. I just wanna have fun, it’s not some competition. When we do shows and songs, I want it to be fun, I like that part of music!

Do you have anything exciting planned for your Warped set (that we can know about)?

Meredith: Party vibes, fun, and high energy. We’re working on a way to spice it up even more.

Are there any new or upcoming releases fans should keep an eye out for?

Meredith: We’re planning to do another release with Graveboy Records which is really exciting. To be determined when that’s gonna be, but new music is on the way, and maybe some other stuff that we can’t talk about yet.

What tips do you have for up-and-coming bands/artists?

Melissa: Never give up. No matter who talks shit about you, I don’t care, never give up! Just believe in it. It’s always been in my heart, a lot of people are like, “How are you still wearing the bow?” and all this mean stuff–it’s like dude, this is just me! Believe in your music, because other people will believe in it too.

hotd episode thoughts

listen, as someone who enjoys some good dragon drama, i feel fantastically well catered-to by this episode

the confrontation between rhaenyra and addam was fun, i liked that it's apparently kind of inspired by western face-offs but with dragons instead of guns

that conversation between larys and ironrod while they were watching aemond sentence men to the watch definitely implied to me that, unlike with his brother, the council is so wary of/intimidated by aemond they don't even want to talk to him about possibly important war developments. which does not bode well for team green's stability in the future, tbh

jace stop being mean about mysaria that's your mom's girlfriend you're talking about :(

i did find the conversation between rhaenyra and jace really interesting, i hadn't considered that the sowing of the seeds plan might bring out so much of his insecurities about being a bastard. he and rhaenyra have probably the most functional parent-child relationship in the show, but they really DON'T talk about this aspect of his life at all, and it really shows

oscar tully unexpected mvp of the episode perhaps? holding his own against that whole council of river lords…calling daemon loathsome…making him execute willem blackwood to atone for spurring on those war crimes…king shit!

i enjoyed getting to see viserys again, i've really missed his actor this season and seeing daemon's reaction to his ruined face was quite interesting

daemon you are SO close to realizing that you don't actually want to be king and would make a terrible ruler, i'm rooting for you to figure this out by the season finale

the scene with aegon and larys talking was probably my favorite from last week so i really liked that we got a follow-up on it. very impressed that aegon is capable of walking even the tiniest amount after what he's been through

rhaena running off into the mountains…she's getting that dragon by hook or by crook

ulf trying to get out of claiming a dragon by claiming he had an injury made me laugh

i like that hugh and ulf have totally different reactions to being possible dragonseeds, one boasting and the other hiding it

alicent was serving real ophelia by john william waterhouse vibes this episode

loved that the dragonkeepers had a huge fight with rhaenyra over the sowing of the seeds, they're in the background of so many dragon scenes but we've never gotten much perspective on what they think of dragons or the targaryen right to claim them before

i do admit to saying "wow, those are some toasty boys" out loud when vermithor was torching those poor dragonseeds

love love LOVE that we got to see both vermithor and silverwing this episode, they look so cool and i love their distinct designs

i have been waiting ALL SEASON for the payoff of hugh and ulf claiming those dragons and it was such an exciting sequence, you could really feel the adrenaline and the danger the whole time

ryan condal on the inside the episodes comparing the death of the dragonseeds to ritual sacrifice was also super fun symbolism

another daeron mention, hi daeron and tessarion :)

also house beesbury making problems for the hightowers, love to see it

after aemond has spent so much time this season intimidating and terrifying other people it WAS super fun to see him do a hard swerve into fear when he saw how many dragonriders rhaenyra has now

that final shot of rhaenyra standing on the dragonmount with syrax, vermithor, and silverwing behind her DID get to, i must say. it's house of the dragon! and we have the dragons!!!

okay yeah i am super hyped for the finale and whatever it may bring, seems like it's gonna be epic. the triarchy! the dragons! the riverlands! helaena in the war effort, apparently?! what fun!

Beware random ramblings because my mind is agitated:

Finally watched Genshin 5.6 teaser and I'm both so hyped to go back to Mondstadt and have all the lore drop and the storyline just seems so so so fun, but also... extremely worried about how things are going to unfold and how frustrating it could be... And I know I'm definitely not the only one to think that but yeah...

Let's just say that I was ecstatic to see Jean so big on the poster...and then I saw Kaeya and... This is going to be about Kaeya isn't it? Again? I mean this is obviously going to be about Albedo and that makes sense, there's so much lore around him waiting to be explored but... Kaeya and Diluc are going to have an action scene together on the bridge* and Kaeya is going to be Albedo's lawyer and Kaeya is also lore relevant because Khaenri'ah... and Jean is going to be a judge. Which is extremely cool- I mean she's going to be like the supreme authority in this matter or something but... it also means she's probably going to have to be neutral for a long time so maybe not participate as much as others... like... i don't know... kaeya for example...

*(do we need to mention that this is going to be Diluc's second action cutscene on that bridge...? yes i think it's relevant to mention that this is going to be diluc's second action cutscene on that bridge while other fighter characters (*cough cough* jean *cough cough*) don't even have one)

Anyway this all ties into something that's been bugging me about the way Hoyo and also the fandom very often portrays Mondstadt... In which they pretend to give a lot of credit to Jean just to undermine it later on...

Jean is the very first nation leader we meet in the game, even if we quickly learn that she's actually the Acting Grand Master and that there is another Grand Master somewhere. She does the job and does it well, even with a lot of Knights away, everyone respects her, it's great. But then we're introduced to Diluc "uncrowned king of Mondstadt" Ragnvindr and Kaeya "does the secret dirty work behind the scenes" Alberich and I have the feeling that a lot of fans see Jean as just the good face of Mondstadt while the boys are actually the efficient problem solvers, because Jean is a goodie two shoes and the guys are bad boys so they have charisma on their side... :c oh and also they're boys so they have charisma on their side :) (<-angry smile)

So yes, regarding upcoming events, Jean is going to be present and is going to be a judge and it's going to be so so cool. But if Kaeya is shown doing all the work to uncover the truth while Jean just sits and watches and judges... that kind of ruins the thing for her character :/

Also, I'm very hyped about Varka being closer and closer to us, but also I have a feeling he's not going to be the "50+ years old and it showes" buff guy with lots of battle scars that are not fashionable that I want him to be and I'm already frustrated about that... I'm not ready for the disappointment... D':

I'm already planning to tag my fics with "non canon compliant Varka" ; "Varka is old" ; "Varka is buff"... We've had way too much time to headcanon Varka and I don't want to have to let my buff old Varka go... :<

Not really relevant but also I'm so far behind storywise that I just know I will get spoiled about a lot of things before I get there myself, or will not be able to enjoy it the proper way, which is no one's fault but mine obviously, but adds to my overall fear and frustration regarding the return to Mondstadt storyline Y^Y

That being said... I am a big fan of trial storylines so I can't wait!!

(Also for fic reasons, I had a lot of questions about Mondstadt's justice system and who takes care of it, even if it was for a very different kind of trial scenario, so this will surely feed my thoughts! c: )

MHA: You’re Next Movie Spoilers

OMGGGGGGGHH IT WAS SO GOOD

I just got back from the movie theatre and I am so overwhelmed!! I feel like I just watched 3 movies in one there was so mUCH going on.

Some highlights that I enjoyed:

- Deku deku deku deku deku the coolest cutest silliest smartest kindest prettiest everrrrrr every moment he was on screen i was giggling I ADORE HIM SM.

- Deku being the absolute silliest!! He made so many goofy expressions and acting like the cutest little dumbass <333

- Julio IS SO COOL. Had me twirling my hair whenever he was on screen. The scene where he ripped his tux off WAS SO UNNECESSARY NALBDLFBLSND But his abilities are fight scenes were really cool and his devotion to Anna was really touching :((

- THE TODOROKI DREAM HAD ME IN SHAMBLES THEY DIDNT HAVE TO DO THAT 😭😭 AAAA IN ANOTHER LIFE THEY WOULD ALL BE HAPPY SOBSSSSSS

- Bakugou being a leader in this movie was amazing and SO HYPE to see!! His “LETS ROCK EVERYONE” AAAAAAA LIKE YESS He’s come so far and I love to see him assess the situation and take charge. I was vibrating in my seat watching bakugou leading them into the final fight calling Deku, Todoroki, and Tokoyami to follow him!! so cool!!

- I especially loved Todoroki and Bakugou team up which makes me understand why Deku said they’d make an unstoppable team!! They are both powerhouses and when they work together, it’s awesome!!

- Which brings me to the TODOBAKUDEKU FINAL FIGHT WHICH AAAAAAAAAAA the scene where all three of them were proclaiming their heroism and their admiration for all might and todobaku yelling “RIGHT DEKU/MIDORIYA!?!” AND THEN IT REVEALS DEKU REVVING UP BLACK WHIP AND FAJIN OHHHHH CHILLLLSSSSS

12. Stink Eye Tortuga - no. Just no. I can appreciate his role in the story but i fucking hate this guy. His voice makes me want to die but atleast he has a cool design and I can’t take him seriously either. He’s not even menacing. He’s just stupid. The only reason hes even on this list is because he has one of the coolest designs

11. Shady Noble Cookie

Storywise, there isn’t much on this guy. But god in every single scene he is he scared me. The delivery was perfect, and the fact this guy sent assassins to try and murder children and ACTUALLY managed to manipulate a DRAGON into going berserk and to turn things around to go his way makes him a genuine threat. Love him. Hes so salty and petty ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Just wish he got more screentime.

10. Dr Evilglaze

I genuinely love this guy as a villain. Hes unpredictable and clever, but god his design kind of ruins the hype a bit for me and its funny and thats what I love about it. Because you’re telling me this tiny doughnut in a space suit is supposed to be a galaxy destroying tyrant!? Idk hes silly and i hate his voice actor

9. Millefeuille Cookie.

Do I even have to explain? I love villains who are realistic to real life. My only problem with her is that she doesn’t get enough time to actually be evil as a twist villain. But her entire demeanour and the fact she literally BRAINWASHES children into a religious cult is just evil personified. Shes just scary af.

8. Shadow Milk Cookie

Look, I love how Shadow Milk is written, hes just not my type personally. He has an amazing design, amazing arc and amazingly written personality and motivations, with how he acts childish and selfish akin to the jester hes presenting as, but at the same time is genuinely scary, and hes interesting as hell, but hes just not my favourite personally despite being an incredibly fun villain and his voice actor being goated.

7. Affogato Cookie

I love Affogatto for the same reasons I like Scar. Albeit it was briefly, but he was one of the few villains to actually accomplish their goal. Hes sly and just an overall delight to watch, and his manipulation and snake-like nature just is the cherry on top. But for me personally, his backstory wasn’t fleshed out enough, and hes just not really my favourite.

6. Black Pearl Cookie

In my opinion she is one of the most well written and most interestingly written, overrated as she is. Yes I think her design is a bit bland but god did her backstory make me cry with how tragic it is, with how she was broken by that same broken promise and held the grudge even years later just shows how much she truly loves Lord Oyster but refuses to admit it because of her pain. But she is truly sadistic and she gives me Ursula vibes, the way everything is just a plaything to her takes to another level of its own. Every single line Erica delivered I was smiling. And her rage is absolutely justified.

5. Burning Spice Cookie

I know you’re gonna scream at me because I put Burning Spice below Custard but hear me out. Ok so Burning Spice GENUINELY TERRIFIED ME. His ruthlessness, temper, and overall cruelty actually had me shaking. And his backstory is really compelling too. When you look at it closer, him getting bored with his old role actually makes sense. Because all he had to do was watch the same things happen again with nothing ever really changing and breaking the cycle. Everything was always ‘born, wither, decay’ over and over again until it drove him mad. Also banger design I fucking love him..😍😍���😍🥰🥰

4. Mystic Flour Cookie

Do I even have to explain myself? Mystic Flour was the best part of Dark Cacao’s beast yeast episode in my opinion (other than the two dragons<3). The way her presence is so defined when she’s not even there, and just the sheer genius of turning the soldier’s beliefs against them as she slowly decays them is just pure mastery. And plus the fact that her motivation also makes sense. Her wishes were taken for granted so she decided to not care anymore, but also how shes also shown to be a bit childish with how she wants to inflict the same pain onto others that she felt. She terrified me even more than burning spice is with just how monotone and ghostly her voice is. I fucking love Mystic Flour. I would explain more but my brains not working aaaaaa

3. Elder Custard Cookie

I know I am going to get skewered for this but as a villain, he is one of the best. You know a villains good when every single fucking second they are on scream you are screaming at them to shut up. When you look at the story closer hes actually really clever for he knows when to drop the facade, but the temper seems to ruin that and thats what I love. He is one of the most realistic ones because people like him exist. Self righteous, cruel and heartless. Hes like a less evil Frollo. But cowardly. Watching him go from menacing, self righteous, bigoted and a genuine threat to unsophisticated, brash, reckless yet still a threat when he loses it is funny to me. And watching him get humbled by Caviar was just such a joy. But hes also interesting in the way that he was probably also in the Dark Flour war and had to flee. I love pompous stuck up, haughty nobles that eventually break and drop the facade. But We all hate Elder Custard in this house ♥️

2. Sachertorte Cookie

Okay I will be here all day if I explain all of the reasons why I think Sachertorte is one of the most delightful villains ever to come on a cookie run screen. In every single scene shes manipulating her opponents emotions and her surroundings to turn the tides of the battle, constantly foiling the main gang whilst still retaining an actually menacing aura. And her arc oh my god. Her backstory and motivations are completely understandable given she was taken in by a group of thugs after her boss kicked her out for something she didn’t do, and rose to the top like the absolute girlboss she is. And just the scene where she makes them fall into the hole and then just FUCKING WAVES. This is childs play to her. Its so fucking cool I fucking love her ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ She had everything in her hands you could see she planned it all out and it worked. She was always one step ahead, and she didn’t loose any of her charm when she got that apology, simply the strength to move on with her life

Am I the only one who is disappointed with Caitvi in season two? When I watched the first season I had the biggest caitvi brain rot because they actually gave me SUCH a fun dynamic with them. Buddy cop Caitvi was hilarious, I loved that so so much!

And season 2 started of strong imo but then it rushed through everything. I loved the scene in the cell, obviously, but it was misplaced. Your sister is about to kill herself girl what are you doing this is not the time!! And other than romantic and sexual tension there wasn't all that much left of their previous dynamic aside from the brief scene in episode six...

Idk, I think I'm just annoyed. Usually when I see a non canon gay ship get more traction than the Canon lesbian couple, I just assume it's misogyny or lesbophobia, and move on with my life. But I can't even do that here because Caitvi was WAY more popular in season 1 (as they should).

Jayvik isn't getting somewhat more popular in season 2 because people don't like lesbians, but because their arcs are connected so strongly to each other. (Also I'm not saying that Jayvik is now more popular than Caitvi, but it's like a graph where the super high stocks caitvi are still even while Jayvik is skyrocketing rn)

Wanna know why Jayvik wasn't all that popular in season 1? Because (after act 1) their arcs were mostly separate, safe for a couple of moments. Viktor worked on his body and Jayce was doing politics.

Caitlyn and Vis arcs intertwined more, they actually did shit together and it was beautiful, funny, romantic, EVERYTHING!

Also a fun opposites attract buddy cop dynamic is also just more fun than men who do science together (in my personal opinion)

Now let's look at Caitlyn and Vis relationship in season two.

It starts of strong. I momentarily thought that Caitlyn was uncharacteristically mean to Vi when she refused to become an enforcer, but she apologized for it later and I recognized the fact that Caitlyn was grieving. Then once we get to episode two and three I could already feel their relationship being a bit more odd. The kiss (though I cheered) didn't feel right. I felt like something was missing, and that was their chemistry from season one. Also I feel like we glossed over too many decisions that Caitlyn made, and I think Vi should've put a stop to it sooner. But overall I was okay with them in act 1.

Then we had a timeskip and the two were fully separated. Act 2 literally started with Caitlyn in bed with another woman, like we can see they're not together anymore. Caitlyn has obviously changed, there is not much of the sweet cupcake left that we had come to love in season 1, and Vi is boxing and getting drunk.

Then they meet and like... Vi calls Cait cupcake, and Cait switches sides IMMEDIATELY? GIRL WTF?!

I get that Caitlyn wasn't entirely on Ambessas side the entire time, but I had hoped for more drama first. So you're telling me the very next interaction the two have after their heart wrenching falling out is them making up again? Come on.

Then we had act 3 and overall it was better I think but the timing of their hot scene in the cell was just odd, like what about your sister about to kill herself? I was very happy and hyped in the moment but then I realized how rushed this was. Why? Why make em fuck right here? And in the final act, the two weren't together because again, their arcs were not as connected. And that's actually pretty cool to have a couple who do their own things! But it doesn't help their relationship when they, in turn, aren't given enough time to develop as a pair!

I feel like season 1 did this incredible job of setting these characters up, showing us why they work so well together and why they would fall for one another. And season 2 gave us pay off for it but with very little set up, which was needed because of how Cait changed throughout the season. I don't mention Vi here because she did not change. She had her drunk boxing phase, which we got nothing but a montage off, but everything else is basically season 1 Vi aside from very few things here and there. Like her becoming an enforcer wasn't a character change for Vi, her finally letting go of powder and calling her sister Jinx, wasn't a big character moment for Vi, they were pay off for a set up we didn't get enough of.

SO TO GET TO MY POINT:

S2 was rushed. We should've AT LEAST gotten 3 seasons, like minimum, because there was a whole lot of plot and very little moments in between for characterization. Especially for Caitlyn and Vi and their relationship to each other.

I still generally prefer Caitvi to Jayvik, but only because of season 1. Season 2 gave me the two things I wanted most (a sexy scene and a kiss) but forgot to give me the things that made me fall in love with this ship in the first place.

Which was the hilarious buddy cop dynamic of rich girl cop Cait, and broke butch prisoner Vi.

It's a bad day, and I've been dragging my heels on this. But, I got a bunch of neat new TTRPG stuff in October, so here's what landed in my mailbox.

Break!! - A few years ago, I stumbled on some art on Twitter. It was fun, it was vibrant, and it felt inviting. I wanted to know more, looked into the artist, and discovered it was spot art for an upcoming RPG called Break!! So, I kept an eye on it. The book is beautiful, well laid-out, and really cool, so maybe one good thing came from Twitter*.

The Electric State - Tales from the Loop and Things from the Flood have been pretty high on my "To Play" lists for years. A follow-up, set in a similar (or the same?) world was kind of an instant pickup. Not as interested in the movie, but the game seems pretty rad.

The Geologist's Primer - I picked up the Herbalist's Primer when it came out, and was really impressed with the quality and care that went into it, so when I saw "That but for rocks" was in the works, I was definitely already in. Also excited for the follow up "Mushrooms next time".

Starkhollow Hall - I accidentally fell into a Gothic Fiction kick over Spooky Month, so the timing of this was perfect. I don't know a ton about the GUMSHOE system, but I do feel like what I know about it makes it a perfect fit for the genre. Gothic heroines (and I guess heroes) are at their best when they know there's a dangerous mystery at the heart of what's happening around them, and go looking for it anyway.

Forsaken - Kyle Tam is, honestly, a designer to watch. I picked this up because it was part of an Afterthought Committee project, which is a team I've also really enjoyed work from (my game Water Landing is built off of their game Cast Away). Does a better job of establishing a sort of grimdark/Soulsbourne vibe than some stuff that explicitly tries to.

Iron Edda Reforged - The pitch for this caught me immediately: Cyberpunk Norse Mythology. Tracy Barnett is another Designer to Watch, and I really like all of their stuff--haven't played the original Iron Edda, but have heard it on Party of One and really dug it. Was really hyped to see this come into being.

Electrum Archive v2 - I went through a Weird Sci-Fi phase this year, and the original Electrum Archive was an early pick for it. I really loved the world, the way each class worked differently, and the magic/currency/MacGuffin that it used. Obviously I wanted more, because the second book is here.

Alice is Missing - Silent Falls - My friends and I have been talking about the prospect of another Alice is Missing game since playing the first one about two years ago. It was a really memorable experience, partly due to the game's really compelling design, and to some of the in-moment decisions we made (I played the facilitator character, who starts the game having returned after a long absence, and another player immediately got pissed at them for sorta abandoning the group. it created an interesting play dynamic for the whole session)

Kill Him Faster - I picked up a previous Kovidae Games book as a lark: a collection of exercise-based RPGs. I nearly ignored their other stuff, but this had a pretty compelling pitch: What if time-travel was invented mostly so people could speedrun murdering Hitler. Since Eat the Reich came out, I've thought a bit about Hitler Revenge Fantasy as a genre, and honestly, I'm kinda into it. He was a loser, and deserves to be reduced to a video game villain and killed over and over again; so, yeah. Let's kill him faster next time.

Splat (issue 5) - I'm not usually one for essays and interviews, but this is a zine featuring and by some folks I really like and respect, and this one is packed with thoughts about the state of the indie TTRPG scene and industry from a diverse and immensely talented group. It's honestly a must-read.

(Already getting a few things for the next edition, but also feeling too garbage after the Clusterfuck Election to think about doing anything else today...)

SO YOU KNOW FOR A FACT I WAS SO HYPED WHEN ACHERON SHOWED UP 🤺 especially with the hi3 story with kiana as the mc being over and although i still love hi3 the most, kiana, mei and bronya, that trio, they were all the best characters together AAAARGHHH I SWEAR AND JUST THE ENTIRE STORY LINE WAS SOOO GOOD, I miss them all together as a trio and especially kiana, the best hoyo MC FOR LIFE. 🙋🏻‍♀️🩷

also jade looks so cool as well! the design is very pretty and i can't wait to see diamond too, or the rest of the ten stonehearts but they're hyping diamond up so much like another emanator?? yes please, i'm all in🧎🏻‍♀️🩷

this entire quest gave me movie vibes, you were on edge the entire time and even during side quests you had to take, it was still very intense. it actually took me quite a bit to finish it of course since i'm someone who doesn't skip dialog, but it was so worth it and the best way to relax after a long day of moving my body 🩷 just laying in bed, playing while drinking tea!!

Hiii!! Totally read through the fic in 3 days and I'm absolutely in love with it! It's been such a ride and I wanted to let you know how much fun I've been having reading through it :]

As someone who's watched almost all of the guys in the fic itself, I NEED to say how excited and impressed and ecstatic it's made me to pick up on habits!! I adore how Martini and Streamer understand each other's nonsense because they come from the same/similar time (with HLVRAI being a streamed VR series as well). Seeing Zyzx's version from Lythero's vid also made me unreasonably happy because I've watched that thing way too many times and love how chaotic it gets.

Similarly I adore the overprotective and calculating nature of Mercy, in line with how Saintjam went so far to keep all the NPCs alive! He's a great breath of fresh air and might be my favourite just cause of how stone-cold a badass he is, yet happens to be the most considerate towards safety and sacrifice. (Also really loved the scene with 8 choppers where I immediately recognized the grenade hops he used to take one down). Super hype for the future chapters, especially when other characters start to make their appearances. I saw you've been struggling though and have to stress that there's no rush! Take your time. The project is a labour of love, a passion project. Those thrive when you're gentle and kind to yourself :] I hope that it gets better though, and I understand the pressure with so many people enjoying your work. - In a different vein I'd like to thank you and the fic very much. I've had an AU of my own brewing for the months I've ended up in the HL rot. Your fic suuuper got me thinking about it even more! Only, things take a horrible turn for the worse when the exact opposite happens, opening to Xyn. An infinite, pitch black abyssal void. Flooding all of Black Mesa in the process...

The Descendant quickly stole the world in the 7 hour war, an alien race living in compact, deep-sea cities where humanity can't reach them. Day by day humans are stolen away to the darkest reaches of the sea, hopeless to escape the enemy's clutches. Who knows what happens to them down there.

Hello !! First of all, thank you so much!! I know I say it a bunch but I really mean it every single time!! Hearing that people like it always makes me feel even better about continuing to write it!! (Also binging a fic in just a few days. Very relatable I fear.) I'm so glad other people who've watched just as much (if not more, perhaps) of these silly guys as I have loves what I've done with them!! I've been terrified from the start at characterizing any of them in a way that's just too different for anyone else to get behind. To know that you know all of them prior to this and love them all the same really means a lot!! (also YES!! its so fun treading the line between making them the same person and just. absolutely not. also playing off of the unique differences and similarities each of them have with one another is a real treat! I'm glad it's as fun to read for you as it is for me to write!!) Mercy is definitely like, top three favorites for me! He's very different to write from the rest and I can't wait to showcase that more in later chapters, especially now that we're finally reaching a point where these guys can just flourish and be themselves, show off their personalities without the interruption of fighting and action. I know for me personally, the dynamics between them and their relationships are what I care most about and what I want to focus on in my writing!! at the beginning mitsu mentions how ichiban always holds back and lets whoever hes fighting land hits on purpose, and ichiban explains that its to keep things "fair," and mitsu responds with "i know how you fight hard when you wanna"

so i assumed ichiban was a beast like kiryu but just had his own moral code that just so happened to make him look weaker than he actually is, and i still think that but i also feel like by now they shouldve given us a scene of him either letting loose or showed us a glimpse of how strong he actually is?

the fight with majima and saejima would've been a great chance for that, in the last cutscene before arakawa and daigo come in they could've had a moment where ichi makes majima falter or takes saejima by surprise or something, and have them quickly and wordlessly acknowledge his strength by taking a stance and getting ready to "take things seriously" before getting interrupted by arakawa- and before you say "but nishitanis-left-nut, thats what happened in the scene" listen- what i mean is specifically ichiban getting a good hit in on either of the jimas and THAT being the catalyst for the shift in the fight

ichibans party is important to the overall plot and what not but i really feel like the game doesnt prioritize him as the protagonist in a lot of the cutscenes? you couldve gone into that fight with any combination of ichibans friends so why not give the final blow in the fight to him in the cut scene right after you win so that the victory does something for ichibans character? but it just hard cuts to majima wiping some blood from his mouth and then arakawa walks in before him and saejima can lock in

i get ichiban isn't kiryu but i thought they were setting him up to be an equally competent fighter that just so happened to enjoy fighting in his own way, and that involved getting his ass handed to him on purpose, kind of like a mix of what majima and kiryu get out of fighting and how they view it i mean look at him he does the majima pose and everything (im taking out the screenshots of him doing the majima pose cuz tumblr keeps saying this post needs a warning which no it doesn't????? the only thing i can think of that would warrant that is that hes shirtless in the picture but like its extremely sfw???)

alright so uh, ive had this draft for a while and now that ive played a bit more by "let loose" i didnt mean i wanted to see him just senselessly beat up a man and have to be forcibly stopped from bashing his head in. he also got his ass handed to him by kiryu so we still havent really gotten a glimpse of how strong he supposedly is. under all the smiles and cheesy one liners ichibans a lose cannon with a really short fuse which is a pretty cool concept if they keep exploring it honestly

idk the action cut scenes in this game are also kinda weird, i think the most memorable so far for me were actually the ones in the fight with sawashiro after he kills the seiryu clan patriarch, him just fuking being so overtly dramatic through the whole thing was really fun to watch (also the majima and saejima combo attacks cuz theyre silly and theyre them)

"all of my ranting about this game so far can just be boiled down to "its different and not the type of different i was expecting so im having a hard time liking it" and thats real stressful"

OK SO ACTUALLY I CAN REMEMBER JUST THE OTHER DAY I WAS WRITING AND HAD THE THOUGHT THAT I WAS OVERUSING A SPECIFIC PHRASE, BUT I CANT REMEMBER WHAT IT IS ANYMORE. I do way em-dashes way too much tho, I know I do (oops)

I will say uhh. I don't think I overuse this phrase, but in one part of manic monday, I wrote:

Words floated to Muichuro's ears like shiny little bubbles of sound. Pretty to look at, impossible to understand.

And I did actually end up reusing it somewhere in uhh. I think Stay Soft? (Could be misremembering tho) and It's not really an overuse of it, but just bc it's such a specific and sort of striking phrase, I found myself nervous about whether or not I was "allowed" to use it again. Which is stupid, for the record, I can use my own cool phrases as many times as I want, but yk. Can't control the brain worms

Actually watch me trying to fit this phrase into more fics. Take a shot every time you read the words "shiny bubbles of sound" in a Bird fic, starting now

Oooo this is an impossible question actually, because all of these things make me very happy. Comments and asks probably make me the happiest tho— or bookmarks with comments in them, which are also a special kind of fun just bc they're a persons personal notes to themselves on the fic.

I love feedback !!! I love knowing people are interested in my ideas and what I write!!! It is a drug like no other.

My friends keep railing on me for not being as active in the oc scene anymore but I cant help it when I'm getting so much positive reinforcement here. I probably would not be writing near as much as I do now if not for the people tossing breadcrumbs my way, encouraging me to continue

FINISHING AND POSTING CHAPTER 1 OF WORKING FOR THE KNIFE!!! IM SO PROUD OF MYSELF!!! ITS ALMOST 11K WORDS THATS CRAZY I COOKED SO HARD !!!!!!!!! SO WELL !!!!!!!!! I'm very very happy with specifically the last scene with Houhua's dad (if u know u know)

The fact that I've also gotten such incredible feedback on ch 1 so far also fills me with pride— Im so so happy that people enjoyed it and that it's (so far) living up to the hype !!! I love feeding the masses with my agenda,,,,

Other than that tho I am very pleased with the fucking giant bible of wolves of the woods lore and plot lines I have hidden away in google docs. I have so much content to write for that, with ch 1 like two thirds done around 7k words (which is way longer than I'd intended it to be, but, I wont complain) Once I finally post that I will actually explode with pride and happiness

Watched Deadpool with my bestfriend.

The movie was good, but part of me felt like they were over doing a bit in some parts.

And i don't know why the whole TVA mixture is added

It felt like the Marvel universe collided with the Hitchhiker's guide to galaxy (not saying it's the same, but kinda like, how if you fuck up in one universe, there are a billion other timelines and all that bit, again I know not the same, but similar concept, and makes me feel weird because it gives the idea of a kind of simulation and that makes me feel weird.)

My point is I'm okay with the idea of multiverse, I love it even. But I'm not okay with a bunch of weird beings overlooking it all. The idea of multiverse existing is cool, but that's because it is simply existing. But when you bring someone who overlooks and does stuff to it, it makes me feel like 'eh. No.'

Other than that, one scene where Logan who was chained to something and there were like bloody skulls around him all over made me think of the scene in Bleach with Yhwach v. Yamamto's where Yamamto's bankai made dead comrades of Yhwach appear [all red and skull, skeletons (my god that was a beautiful scene, what brilliant portrayal, the bleach one, the Logan one made me feel bad for him]

And then, the fight scenes could have been choreographed in a better way, they were good but, some parts felt like they could've been better.

Loved the background music a lot. Loved the fourth wall break a lot. Deadpool is just all over the world.

And my god, they even referenced Batman. Hahahahahah.

When Deadpool was talking to Happy, and I saw the 'Proof that tony stark has a heart.' Fuck. I felt my feelings a little too much

And Wolverine. My god. The love I have for this character is so immense. It was Deadpools movie but Wolverine really stole the show, specially in that one scene *ahem abs ahem*

But fr, the love I have for Logan. The feeling I have. And specially when I saw the Logan movie. It was like my heart was ripped out.

And then Deadpool desecrated his grave. And then as he mentioned, they brought him back.

See, I'm not complaining, but this is just, Idk

And even Brining Rdj back as Dr. Doom

I mean, idk.

Also why is quicksilver dead every goddamn where.

And Xavier's sister. What are these concepts.

And also the scene where Wolverine's past is shown. How he killed...anyone who crossed his path, the good the bad, anyone. I kinda get it. Not justifying his actions but...it was his way of dealing with his feelings. And sometimes it feels like that, to destroy the universe at its core because the people you called home are no longer here.

But overall, fun movie, felt like it was hyped a bunch, but was fun nevertheless. The interviews and Ryan and Hugh everywhere was kinda fun too, they're a cute duo, ngl (platonic y'all).

But it's enough bringing dead back again in some way or another. It's like, i grieved for this character man, and I'm happy that he's back again....but he's technically not the same Wolverine i grieved for. He's not from the universe I have been watching since so long. So just bringing the same character just from a different universe, it feels like you're deceiving me and playing w my feelings for this character. Maybe I'm looking into it a bit too much, I'm not sure.

--That won't distract me from his impressive skills, tho. I mean, I already knew he had some cooking knowledge from Frozen Echoes (in that side-stroy where he goes ice fishing and then cooks the fish with Karu, Blade, and Eiden).

But this isn't just the rudimentary "cook a thing over a fire until it's not raw anymore" sort of situation---this is an actual understanding of how to cook something and why you should use certain methods for the best results.
