ALSO I'm NOT aro after all!!! I think I figured it out and it should have been obvious but sometimes I'm just the big dumb
#well technically im on the aro spectrum but like#i feel like what i am is more normal than “allo” so?#basically the way i heard it phrased that made it click in my brain is#i don't just fall in love#it's not a passive action#it's not something that happens TO me#I build love with someone#it's not something that comes out of nowhere#it's something the 2 of us have to form and create and curate#it's a deliberate action that takes time to get to that point#so that explains why crushes are so rare for me#bc i need such a stronger bond to feel that towards someone that by the time i DO feel it#it's already passed the crush stage and we're in “love” territory#this explains my affinity for best friends and childhood friends to lovers tropes#because those are tropes i can actually relate to#like this work “crush” is such a weird situation#I'd actually say it's closer to a squish than a crush#because i don't want to go out#i dont want to kiss or hold hands#i just want to hang out and laugh and get to know each other#and see where that goes#because i don't know him well enough to really feel anything towards him other than vague interest bc he makes me laugh#but the interest is more curiosity than romantic interest#which makes it hard bc how do i ask for his socials or to hang out without it seeming like I'm coming on to him#how does one make friends#at my age#this is hard and for why

People try too hard to make Curly an active participant in Jimmy's abuse. Isn't the whole point that he's passive in everything Jimmy does? Abuse occurs because he actively doesn't do anything? Not to call someone out or be mean, but I saw a post saying Anya's ID being in Curly's locker at the beginning shows that he intended to prevent Anya from filing an HR report and I disagree. I get where that interpretation is coming from, but I think it's a little uncharitable. I don't like being too kind to Curly because he's like...a morally mid dude at best lol But if we're going by the HR report interpretation, I would say it's more likely he requested Anya's ID in order to file an HR report on her behalf. After all, the only way to contact Pony (that we see) is in the cockpit, he's the Captain, and Pony Express sucks bad so I wouldn't put it past them to only allow the Captain to use the communication device thing. As we see before, Curly is the only one able to use tools around the ship that you would think other employees could use (ex. Swansea should be able to use the axe if he's the repair guy. Idk why they'd need an ax but that falls under manual labor which Swansea is designated for as the mechanic/fixer dude. But it has to go through Curly). I never got the vibe that Curly moved to actively protect Jimmy. He just lets things happen without say a word; Jimmy walks all over him, and by extension, the whole crew. I get why people would think that because he gives the whole "Hey Jimmy, we can get through this together, bud" spiel right before the crash. This part interests me a lot because there's so many ways to interpret Curly's intentions there. My interpretation is that Curly is on autopilot mode. The responses seem so stilted in comparison to Jimmy's. Like it's the kind of thing Curly's said before again and again and again when Jimmy's gotten in trouble. However, as others previously pointed out, I don't think Curly ever dealt with Jimmy doing something this irredeemable. He doesn't know how to respond, so he just goes for the default "You've gotten through tough situations before. Work through it one step at a time." Like the response is lame af lol I think he was in shock; he was scared (and just so I can say it one more time: he's super lame).
Anyway, this is way longer than I intended and I've said things a billion people have already stated. But uhhh tldr the whole point of Curly's character is he's passive; he never acts. He just watches. Making him an active participant in the abuse by taking actions to cover for Jimmy (like preventing Anya from filing an HR report) defeats the purpose of his character. He's a bystander.
#and I'm defining active as in like consciously taking actions to help Jimmy cover his tracks and stuff like that#because I know being passive can be seen as the same thing as actively participating in the abuse (which i agree with)#I just mean I don't think he's actually intending to help Jimmy by doing anything for him like taking Anya's ID away with nefarious purpose#I just didn't get that vibe#again I just thought he sucked lol like he just does nothing#so idk I just don't vibe when people make him too into helping Jimmy if that makes sense? I think it destroys the grayness of his character#they will never make me have a strong opinion of you Curly#but he is fine as hell ok lol I am not immune to buff blonde man#also like I hope this doesn't come off as mean to the person I'm referencing with the ID take if they see it#I just was thinking about their interpretation and was like ehhh i don't know if i agree and wanted to respond on my lil side account ;p#mouthwashing#curly mouthwashing#captain curly#anya mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing#ok and I could see people saying he actively covers for him by doing the psych eval for him and being like uhhhh good enough lmao#but to me that's him trying to placate any issues between crewmembers on his ship esp. when it comes to Jimmy#which just falls under the bystander thing because he'll do the bare minimum to keep things peaceful#but when it comes to doing anything he's just like whelp idk what I can do and just stands there#he's so cool#ok also I realize they need the ax for the foam I just forgot about that lmao#i was a little tipsy when I wrote this plz forgive hahaha I just meant like an ax isn’t like normally in a mechanic’s tool kit lmao#adding a link to the Twitter post I mention so people can refer back to it if they’d like

similar cinematographic choices to portray the same imagery with insanely different circumstantial contexts
#like being tricked into a room and locked off from the outside world with a pitcher of water‚ a waste bucket‚ and an army cot#as you slowly died while experiencing acute mental distress to the point of having a psychogenic seizure at the same time#that people discussed your fate as if it were a decision they had the authority to make (and they DO. unfortunately for you)#vs being tied to chair during which you're in pretty consistent communication and under the care of the person who put you there#and you're narratively given the opportunity to hunt this person down and you even have scenes with hand to hand combat#in which you're able to properly defend yourself. for the other person the idea of your life being in danger is carefully threaded risk#to be taken rather than (as per the previous circumstance described) a decision you have the authority to make#likeee i remember reblogging this post that ssid 'supernatural doesn't really have a concept of jail' but like absolutely yes it does#sam (and even other characters like mary and rowena) are both put in 'jail' as the direct effect to a fault#wrt the winchester familial dynamic and their role. it's one of the main differences here. sam is put in jail‚ dean is not#sam does not have the authority to put him there. it doesn't help that sam is literally pleading as the victim within his scene#while dean is able to victimise sam even as the monstrous body within the 10.03 scene#and the thing is that their identities are being compartmentalised in similar ways here. dean is attempting to save his sammy#from the encroaching (invariable) monstrous sam that which he spends the next season attempting to forgive for the shortcoming#of dean perceiving sam's efforts at independence as abandonment while sam is attempting to save his dean from the encroaching mark of cain#(chosen to be put there yet is still victimised by) and sam spends the rest of the season forgiving him over and over while even#taking misattributed responsibility and blame that which has to be made up for#4.21#10.03#se referat#edit: also adding onto chii's tags wrt the differences in capacity for consent regarding demon!dean#it's so interesting to compare demon!dean to soulless!sam in that demon!dean didn't have the capacity to reject competent!dean's consent#while both soulless!sam and 5.22!sam did not consent to be resouled in respectively active and precedingly passive ways#like 6.12 sam is clearly happy and grateful to have been resurrected and he doesn't even have any specific qualms#about dean keeping information relating to his ressurection from him but 5.22 explicitly made his consent‚ or lack thereof‚ regarding#ressurection clear unlike dean in early-s10... and the thing is that the last time sam didn't pursue dean's ressurection#he faced negative consequences for that decision! and yet dean is seen as objectively correct for his actions in s6#by both the audience and narrative‚ and much of his responsibility regarding sam's psychosis isn't acknowledged as directly related#to his actions vs the pinning of blame to much of early-s10 onto sam esp relating to the guy he had summon a demon‚ who sold his own soul#despite sam's advice‚ whom demon!dean killed

Deep law of assumption cultists when you talk about action. Not inspired action or magical action. But action. Action. Physical effort.
#random#LMFAOOO#it's okay to be passive sometimes but let's bffr#schizophrenia is not gonna give you abilities out of nowhere so how about you get yourself a singing coach#or go on youtube and watch vocal lessons or start something#ACTION IS THE WAY#MANIFESTATION IS NOT MAGICAL

it was just going to be a few warmup doodles but then she infected the rest of the page like the ever eternal and spreading spores. hod!!! hod. hod :)
#lobotomy corporation#lobcorp#hod#hod lobcorp#lobotomy corp spoilers#I GUESS i almost forgot i drew her box form#lobcorp spoilers#and michelle actually. ..#both very tiny. itty bitty. microscopic#other sephirah there too as normal. i cant have her alone. and Angelina as well on the top patting her#i have a hard time fully capturing her for some reason. in my mind. maybe its because is the disconnected period!!! mentally#she genuinely wishes to care and be kind yet theres a dissonance with what she does..? or how it ends up being taken or what she does to en#up bringing those actions into reality. she can be forceful? wanting to have employees attend therapy sessions and meetings for suppression#tactics. which i think is also something the safety team is incharge of iirc. so that means shes doing way more that what she needs to on#her job as a sephirah. just for the sake of employees#she really does care as shes one of the only to Directly attempt to change their circumstances and quality of life and health#sure chesed doesnt punish employees when they dont do their work assigned or stress them out with work#but he doesnt actively push to attempt to make changes to aid employees besides the research perks which is to the manager#yesod IS right next to her and does also genuinely care but when it comes to employees hes distant at best when it comes to them and the#way he tries to protect them is by enforcing rules but he doesnt really create or attempt to help them like hod does#yesod is sort of a passive? way of doing it. yes he doesn make a push to enforce said rules but he doesnt make new ones. just follows what#is already there in place. hod tries to make new ways and not just for the safety of people like how yesod's has them physically fine and#not letting them over a certain threshold of mental corruption but she tries to have a program to Directly Address such a thing#its born out of care but the genuine worry of being a good person and her naivety ends up having it do more harm than good#sure there may be some employees that actually like and find it useful but so many are just accepting to their fate of Dying to where#her care seems pointless. shes a sephirah and to them a literal metal box why would they go ahead and feel bad for what an 'ai' is feeling#as she is interrupting their free time in the company#which is rude. and shit. iirc the counseling is compulsory but people go because shes a sephirah and their superior. the thought was there#but again it comes off wrong and ends up not working because shes their superior in the end#EEK!!! yeah... hod. the hod. there is WAY more but i can't fit it all here and i already typed enough

not to harp on anyone's takes and this is not apropos of one single post but i genuinely feel like i have had a whole separate perception of tommy as a character than other people in this fandom because every "tommy was ooc" post i see confuses me more and more every day. like ooc in the context of what? what do yall genuinely find so incongruent about his actions in 8x06? not incongruent with the fanon version of him we developed over the summer, but as in what the canon previously established. because in my opinion/experience we knew so little of him, he was literally a schrodinger's character, hence so much of my excitement for s8 was that we would get to see him be a real boy. we didn't know any of his demons, his depth, his interiority, how he'd react during a conflict, his fears, his hopes, his perception of his relationship with buck... we literally just filled in the blanks, and the only thing that was out of character with tommy in 8x06 was that he didn't fit with that filling. the details of the storyline and the execution was stupid (mostly the abby thing) but tommy's actions were pretty in character with what little the show told us about him. the guy who was an asshole out of self-preservation also trapped someone in a relationship to protect himself? the same guy was once again blunt and direct to spare his own heart? like yeaah
#this is not an argument btw it's a genuine invitation for conversation#i truly wanna know what do you see ooc about this like “him doing this was ooc with his previous action x in episode y”#bc no offense all we knew about tommy was that he didnt have a close found family like the 118#had a troublesome relationship with his dad#could be cold and passive during his tenure at the 118#and that he liked dating buck#we didnt even know if he was in love with buck or what he genuinely felt about buck till the breakup like thats the only canon instance#that in dialogue tells us he was falling hard for him#and buck not running after him is the most buck thing if this show has one thing to criticize when it comes to buck's love life it's that#he's always made to assume a passive role#mimi.txt

If one worked with positive potency, one would stand at the mercy of the object and be completely passive. Paradoxically, hyperactivity represents an extremely passive form of doing, which bars the possibility of free action. It is based on positive potency that has been made absolute to the exclusion of all else.

I have not been in this fandom long enough to reasonably judge others' takes however. "EPIC fans are so silly to characterize odysseus as feeling guilty for his actions don't you know he's a war criminal" is definitely a wild one. like first of all to each their own so settle down and let people enjoy things ok. and secondly making choices with a bad outcome, even knowingly and deliberately, does not exclude the possibility of feeling bad about it later. in fact it makes for a much more in depth character because then you get to explore what he does or doesn't feel guilt over, and why, and if that guilt ever edges into regret or not.
#and thirdly i actually find it fascinating the way EPIC had him take a very conscious role in the greying of his morality#it's interesting to me because from my point of view odysseus in the odyssey is almost a passive player in his own myth#and i enjoy taking that very active moral choice and applying it to some of his non EPIC actions#odysseus#epic the musical#uh what is the tag for the epic cycle#as far as I'm aware it's#tagamemnon#?#idk i just think that if you were to ask your character what they would do differently the answer should not be ''nothing lol''#that is either a character who needs wayy more development or a storyteller who needs wayy more practice#also. WAR CRIMES DIDN'T FUCKING EXIST IT WAS THE BRONZE AGE#regardless of how socially acceptable or not his actions may have been#none of those men on the plain of fucking troy was about to sit down and agree on what constituted a crime of war#like if achilles can get away with flaunting straight up deliberate corpse desecration#i don't think anyone gets to say a word against odysseus for being a sneaky underhanded bastard who doesn't fight fair#coming back an hour later to add yet another point. the point of the people with this take is ''haha dont you know hes a bad person''#which fine yes by modern moral standards he is and even by contemporary standards* some of the stuff he does is super yikes man#but that STILL does not preclude him from feeling guilt. 'bad people' can feel guilt#gonna go ahead and explain those quotes around 'bad person' btw um i do not believe in morality like that. no one is fully good or bad#i shant speak on THAT further unless someone asks though#*contemporary is an iffy word here i feel because the default is to call the time of the penning of the text contemporary#despite the events in the text taking place several centuries earlier.#in this particular case because i am speaking from a point of textual analysis i will use the former#however i think that the latter is also a useful reference point

And if Jacaerys Velaryon finally loses it because his mother is being an idiot, I will stand by him. He deserves to feel enraged. Rhaenyra is showing too much patience for people who murdered her little son in cold blood. If I was Jace, I'd be so pissed off.

“Peter Lukas gets sent back to the regency era” “Jonathan Sims gets sent back to the regency era” valid points valid points but i raise you
Tim Stoker gets sent back to the regency era
#Timelias#guys c’mon it would be sooo fun#Tim would probably *hate* Elias. Maybe try to take the circus down sooner since#the Grimaldi was first like a thing in the very early 1800s so it could be possible for Tim to just kill Nikola on sight#And I bet Jonah would be so fascinated by him. Like oh my god this man 1) is probably from the future 2) Is HOT AS FUCK 3) has sooo much#knowledge about the fears and FOUR) Can apparently kill the things?? and is confident while doing so??#Jonah would love him sm#Also while I don’t think Jon or Peter could fix him I firmly believe that Tim 100% could#Like I’m pretty sure it was actually tweeted once that Tim could’ve redeemed Elias by fucking him nasty#but fr though I do think Tim would actually stop him from becoming as bad as he did because while Jon is passive in the voyeuristic sense an#d also and avatar and peter just couldn’t care less about stopping bad things Tim is wholey human and still dedicating himself to taking#action against the fears and *succeeding* and since I think a lot of Jonah magnus’s less than ideal actions stemmed from his feelings of#helplessness in a world out to get him I think that would be a great anchor for him.#Also I’m just super soft for any kind of Timelias sooo <333#Elias Bouchard#Jonah Magnus#TMA#Tim Stoker#oh also Tim was canonically fascinated by Robert Smirke so he’d probably have some knowledge about the 1700-1800s through osmosis gotten#while researching#the magnus archives

Realizing if I put Melchior, Sahota, and Alexei on a team they could overthrow any government in under 48 hours
meanwhile, if I put Cerus, Judd, Caelon, and James on a team I don't even know if they could manage a grocery run
#we've got two royals; an aggressively anti social 24 year old; and a pirate captain who's the best-adjusted but struggling to#get the others to get along#caelon agrees with everything but you can tell he's just terrified#cerus acts like he's given up on life but will still be passive aggressive if he doesn't like a decision#judd just fucks off and does his own thing without telling anyone else#james desperately trying to get actual communication going#blog v blog action#meanwhile silas and ander would just ignore whatever mission they're assigned for much-needed self care

the absolute worst part of being an idw ravage fan is that there is a version of ravage that lives in my head that is just. not the ravage we see canonically in mtmte. the ravage we have in mtmte fits so oddly into the story, and i've added a lot of extra thoughts/story tweaks to try and make up for it. WHICH MEANS sometimes i catch myself talking about something that makes no sense to other ppl because it Did Not Happen Like That in canon
like i was writing a meta post about ravage on the necroworld (specifically about this scene here-)

AND THEN STOPPED. because i realized i was yapping about a version of ravage that quite literally does not exist outside of my own head.
#transformers#maccadams#maccadam#mtmte#more than meets the eye#lost light#transformers idw#idw transformers#idw tf#tf idw#idwtf#idw1#tf idw1#idw1 transformers#ravage#idw ravage#tf ravage#transformers ravage#mtmte ravage#necroworld#(kicks wall) i just dont like how ravage was portrayed in idw. i think ravage would of fit much better if he actually STAYED#angry with megatron throughout the entirety of mtmte. or at the very least their dynamic was different. i would of much rather have ravage#be consistently confronting megatron on both his past actions and current beliefs over him becoming passive in the way he was in canon#and i wish ravage was actually aware of what the decepticons had done and how far they'd fallen rather than the weird naivety we got from#him in canon. idk im rambling in the tags#i wish ravage could of seen his own statue. wish we could of known what he thought of it all.
