A new start for Logan was just what he needed. And thanks to the TVA, Laura was able to join him in the universe Wade was originally from. So this was a new start for the two of them. And to celebrate their success in saving the universe, Wade decided to have a pizza dinner party with all his friends so Logan and Laura can get to know them.
"We are missing one more person," Wade noticed as he looked around.
"Y/n will be coming soon. She had to deal with something first," Yukio tells him.
"Thank you, Yukio," Wade smiled at her.
"Y/n?" Logan asked Wade.
"Oh you are going to love her. Everyone does," Wade tells him. "You too Mary Puppins."
Ten minutes later, you finally showed up.
"As an apology for coming late, I made my famous brownies!" You announced as you handed the plate with the chocolate goods to Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Logan looked over to see that the stranger who walked in felt like a walking corpse to him. His smile drained from his face as he stared at you who was greeting the people you knew.
"Y/n! I want you to meet our new friends! Logan and Laura," Wade said. It felt like a cheesy rom com slow motion turn to Logan. But he was still enchanted by your beauty.
"It's nice to meet you both," you smiled at them.
"It's nice to meet you too," Laura said as she shook your hand.
"Please excuse me," Logan said as he walked out. Your smile fell a little as you watched the man walk out. You looked back at Wade who had a confused look as well.
"I will be right back. But here. Meet Mary Puppins," Wade said as he handed the dog over to you.
Wade rushed out of the apartment to find Logan outside.
"Hey! What was that? You just ran out on one of the best people I have ever met. She is tied with Peter and Yukio," Wade tells him.
"I didn't realize you had a version of her here," Logan tells him.
"What are you talking about?" Wade asked him.
"Y/n. She was my wife in my universe," Logan explains to him.
"No shit. You were married?" Wade asked him in shock.
"She was also killed because of me."
"This one is different."
"And how's that?" Logan asked him.
"She's a really big badass here," Wade tells him.
"She was in my universe too. But I still let her and everyone down."
"This one could be different."
"I don't know."
"Why don't you come back upstairs and have pizza and get to know her?" Wade offered.
"I think I'm gonna stay out here for a bit," Logan tells him.
"Alright."
Wade headed back upstairs, leaving Logan all alone. Not fifteen minutes later, you came outside with a plate of pizza and a brownie piece and a beer.
"You are missing the pizza and my brownies which Wade was mostly eating all of them," you tell Logan as you handed the food and drink to him.
"Thanks."
"Are you okay? Did I do something?" You asked him.
"No. It's just... you look like someone and it's bringing back some memories for me," Logan tells you.
"Oh. Do you want to talk about it? If it makes you feel better, Wade has told me weirder things and more depressing things," you tell him. Logan let out a small chuckle.
"Maybe not now. I'm sorry for running out while you were introducing yourself."
"That's okay. Let's reintroduce ourselves. I'm Y/n. It's nice to meet you," you smiled at him.
"It's nice to meet you too. I'm Logan."
"Hi Logan. So, did you have to suffer with Wade alone for a couple of days too?" You asked him. Logan laughed a little.
"Yeah. I did."
"I can tell. You have a tired look on you," you laughed a little. Logan smiled softly, hearing your laugh. It was no different from his universe's you.
"You know, the party is upstairs and we are missing it," you tell him.
"That's true. Let's go," Logan said as he followed you back upstairs.
During the party, you sat next to Vanessa as you both were catching up. Logan kept looking at you whenever he could as he talked to Laura.
"You like her," Laura tells Logan loud enough for only him to hear.
"Come on kid," Logan groaned a little.
"She's pretty. And Wade talked to her about letting me stay with her and the other X-Men," Laura tells him.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Apparently she's a good teacher both education wise and powers wise," Laura tells him.
"She always was," Logan said, looking back at you. Your eyes met Logan's, making you smile at him.
"Oh he's cute. You should totally get with him when you can," Vanessa encouraged.
"You think I should?" You asked her.
"Yes! Plus he's handsome," Vanessa nudged.
"And his abs are amazing," Wade mentioned to you. You looked at Vanessa who also had the same look of interested with you.
At the end, you grabbed your bag and jacket before saying goodbye to Blind Al and Wade.
"You ready to check out the school?" You asked Laura.
"Yeah."
"Can I actually ask you something before you leave, Y/n?" Logan asked you.
"Sure. What's up?" You asked as you walked over to him.
"Would you like to go on a date with me sometime?" Logan asked you. You felt your cheeks heat up as you smiled happily.
"Yeah. I'd like that. Here's my number," you tell him as you wrote it down really quickly for him.
"Call me."
"I will."
"Alright. I'll see you soon hopefully," you tell him.
"See you soon."
"Bye, Logan," Laura waved at him before following you out.
"So, are you two just going to adopt Laura and start a family?" Wade asked him.
"Leave it."
"Just letting you know, she likes it rough in bed."
"You and her had sex?"
"Nope. But I did overhear her and Vanessa talk about what they liked in the bed one time," Wade tells him. "And trust me. She may look sweet and innocent, but she is a bit of a masochist."

You were mine first..
Tumblr media
mwahaha I felt like writing angst again today. I decided to put my heart and soul into this. ————————————————————————
Muichiro x fem!Reader
warnings: angst, one sided, jealousy, slapping, cursing, (pretend the infinity castle arc was just skipped, so in the little time skip I did Muichiro is 18) not proofread
————————————————————————
You first met Muichiro when you were 10 and he was 11. You met him while you were out gathering berries for your mother when you saw him collecting water. You stared at him for a few seconds before he noticed you, when he did you froze. You saw how his face lit up when he saw you standing across the stream. “Hello!” You looked around to make sure he was talking to you, even though you were sure he was. “H-hi.” You stood there, berries in hand, as he walked through the stream towards you. When he reached you, he stuck his hand out waiting for you to shake it. “I’m Muichiro.” “I’m Y/n.” You said as you slowly took his hand. “Want to be friends?” He stared at you with a big smile on his face, waiting for your answer. “Um..sure.” “Great! Cmon.” He grabbed you by the wrist and made you follow him to his house.
When you got there, you saw a boy who looked just like him. You looked around, but didn’t see his parents. “Muichiro, who’s this?” You turned towards the boy who was talking. His demeanor was a lot different than Muichiro’s, he seemed a lot..meaner. “This is Y/n, I met her while I was collecting water.” The boy huffed as he slammed his fist down. You flinched at his reaction and clung onto Muichiro. “I thought I told you to not bring anyone here! Why don’t you ever listen to me?!” “But she’s my friend!” “I don’t care who she is, make her leave.” He turned away from the two of you, Muichiro turned towards you and gave you a look that read ‘I’m sorry’. He walked with you back towards the stream, most of the walk was silent until you got closer to the rushing water.
“I’m sorry about Yuichiro. He wasn’t like that until our parents passed.” So that’s why you didn’t see any adults. You nodded at him. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks. “Y/n?” “Yeah?” You said as you turned towards him. “Will you come back?” You gave him a soft smile. “Sure.” The bright smile you saw earlier came back. “Good! It was nice meeting you, I’m sure you must go now.” You nodded at him. “Yeah, it was nice meeting you too.” With that you walked away, going back home.
You met up with Muichiro in the same spot everyday. Until one day, he wasn’t there. You were confused so you just went to his house. When you got there, it was uncomfortably quiet. You walked in and that’s when you saw all of the blood. You let out a blood curdling scream as you ran out.
Your memories since that day were a little hazy. You had been traumatized so much you didnt remember much of anything except for Muichiro. ————————————————————————
You were 17 now. You had joined the Demon Slayer Corps at the young age of 13 and spend the rest of the years becoming a Hashira. There was no specific reason you joined, you were just bored. Your hard work paid off as you had become a Hashira. At your first meeting, the Master allowed you to introduce yourself.
You walked up to the front before you kneeled down at the end of the line to introduce yourself. “Hello, I’m Y/n L/n. I am 17 years old and I joined the corps when I was 13, I’m very glad to be working amongst you all.” You bowed to them all and took your spot beside Himejima.
The meeting started and the master reintroduced you. The meeting wasn’t anything too important, just mainly introducing you. At the end, you had a few of the other Hashira asking questions about you. Except, only one caught your eye: Muichiro. You knew it was him, he was all you remembered.
You went up to him to introduce yourself again. He wasn’t paying any attention to you, just looking up at the clouds. “Hello Muichiro.” You looked back down at you with a blank expression. “I’m sorry but who are you? And you’re not allowed to call me that. It’s Tokito to you.” Ah, you see. He didn’t remember you. “Oh right, sorry. I’m Y/n.” He continued to stare at you, he shrugged his shoulders and looked back up at the clouds. You felt like a truck just ran you over, but you weren’t going to give up.
————————————————————————
Ever since that day, you continued to talk to him. The other Hashira didn’t think anything of it, they brushed it off because he was only a year older than you. Except you were trying to get him to remember you again. “Why do you continue to follow me? It’s annoying.” “I just want to be your friend, please?” He simply stopped infront of you which caused you to bump into him. He turned around to you slightly. “Fine.” Your eyes lit up as a huge smile crept across your face. “Really? Yay!” He turned back around while you were doing your little celebration and walked away. You didn’t notice till he was around 20 feet away from you. “Hey, wait!”
Since he agreed to become your friend, you two were inseparable, and he finally allowed you to call him Muichiro. But there was one thing, you couldn’t deny you had caught feelings for him. You became a lot more flustered around him and started to get jealous when female slayers would approach him and openly flirt with him. You would always drag him away and tell him they were up to no good and he believed it. ————————————————————————
The two of you sat underneath a cherry blossom tree watching the clouds. You glanced over at him and noticed there was a petal in his hair. You reached over to get it out and he flinched. “What are you doing?” You pulled your hand away a little, embarrassed. “I-I was trying to get the petal out of your hair.” “Oh..continue on then.” He turned back around as you looked at him stunned. You reached your hand back out and grabbed it gently. You looked back up at the clouds when you could feel him staring at you. You looked over and saw he was indeed staring at you intently. “What is it..?” He reached his hand out, almost cupping your face, as he leaned in closer. You shut your eyes tight preparing for him to kiss you. Except he didn’t. “What are you doing?” You opened your eyes to see he had a petal in between his fingers. “O-oh, um, I just had something in my eye.” “Hm, okay.”
Gosh how embarrassing. You couldn’t believe you just did that. ————————————————————————
He started becoming more affectionate with you. He began talking to you more, and sometimes your hands brushed against each other. The two of you were walking in a village when he stopped abruptly, staring at something. You stopped as well and followed his eyes. He was looking at a girl. You couldn’t deny she was absolutely beautiful..and the complete opposite of you. You saw how she looked over and blushed immediately when she saw Muichiro staring at her in awe. Before you could stop him, he went up and talked to her. Your heart ached as he left you there.
Since then all you heard from him were things about Akira. “Do you think Akira would like this?” Or “these are Akira’s favorite flowers.” It hurt you inside how you’ve been there for months yet he could barely remember your favorite color. But here comes this random girl who he knew for less than a month and he knew basically everything about her.
You had to clear your head so you went to you and Muichiro’s spot. When you got there, you heard some giggling. You came up behind the big cherry blossom tree and saw them together. You crept up behind them and cleared your throat. “Ahem, sorry. Muichiro, I thought this was our spot.” There was slight venom in your voice when you said those words, however neither one of them picked it up. “Oh, sorry Y/n. I just had to show it to Akira.” You rolled your eyes, you’ve had enough. It was always about her. “You know what Muichiro? I’m so sick of hearing about ‘sweet Akira’. I don’t give a single fuck about her like you do. I don’t like her.” Suddenly Akira burst into tears. Muichiro looked over at her with worry in his eyes, but turned back to you with hatred. He stood up and slapped you. “See what you did Y/n?! You made her cry.” You had tears threatening to fall as you grabbed the side of your face. “Fuck you.” You mumbled to him before you ran off.
He felt a little hurt for what he did, but Akira needed him, not you.
You didn’t see Muichiro after that. Always declining his requests to meet up. Word has spread to the other Hashira about what happened, so they tried their best to keep you two separated. ————————————————————————
You were 21 now. You were reading a book outside when you received a letter from a crow you remember quite well. Muichiro’s crow. You opened up the letter and saw it had read:
“You’re invited to Akira and Muichiro’s wedding. when? September 21st
where? xxxxx
time? 11:30 am
Hope you can make it! Xoxo Akira and Muichiro.”
Did you really want to go to their wedding? Of course not. But why not? You were planning on leaving the corps soon anyways and everyone would be there. You might aswell let it be the last time anyone saw you. ————————————————————————
The last time you saw Muichiro was his wedding day. You wore a light teal color dress as it brought out your skin and eyes. As you were mingling with a few of the other guests, you felt someone tap you on the shoulder. You turned around to see Muichiro.
“Hey Y/n, I’m so glad you could make it, it’s been a while.” You chuckled nervously as you had shifted slightly. “Yeah, this is beautiful.” You couldn’t ignore the feeling in your chest when you saw him. You never really got over him. “Well, I should go now, I have others to talk to. See you later!” You gave him a small smile. “Yeah..”
The ceremony started and Akira walked down the aisle. She looked breathtaking. You couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sadness flood your body. You looked at Muichiro who had tears flowing down his face.
The ceremony was beautiful, it was really something. When you heard them say their “I do’s” you couldn’t stop the tears that escaped. You saw him peek over at you and you gave him a smile. When he pulled her into a kiss, you felt something bitter in your mouth. Maybe it was the wine you drank? No, it was the jealousy in your body. You wish it was you instead of her. No, you knew it should’ve been you, not her.
You didn’t stay for the reception, your heart had broken all over again. Muichiro tried to look for you, but was informed by Kanroji and Iguro that you had left. He too felt a tinge of sadness once he heard that. He had so much to tell you.
————————————————————————
Here Muichiro sat in his shared bed with Akira 5 years later with 2 kids. He was miserable. Akira changed a lot since their wedding day, and especially since their first child. He realized he didn’t love her anymore, but couldn’t leave her. Why? Because he didn’t know where you were. He wanted to tell you at the reception he had remembered you and that he wished he remembered sooner, but he didn’t. He wanted to find you, but for all he knew, you could be across the world..dead even. He put his head in his hands as he realized he would be stuck with this woman for the rest of his life and he regretted everything. Especially for not noticing your feelings for him, because he would’ve chose you over anyone.

pt: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
words: 4.4k
Tumblr media
It has been one week since you saw Matt Murdock on the evening news, and it feels like it has been a complete whirlwind. First, you reintroduced yourself to him and let him know he was a father, then you had a nice little outing, and to tie it all up, a trip to the doctors to confirm what you already knew.
Matthew Murdock is the father of your daughter.
It is nice to have an official statement from a doctor and now you can start the process of changing Minnie's paperwork to include his name. You have to go to the courthouse to file for an updated birth certificate. Matt has very kindly offered to take that task on for you - he goes to the courthouse often for his job and he knows the ins-and-outs of navigating legal paperwork. You just have to go and drop off the right documentation.
You had a brief call last night, after Minnie had been put down, and decided that you would visit his office today to do just that. You are going to kill two birds with one stone - hand over what needs to be filed and give Matt more time with his daughter.
To your great surprise, your timid little Mouse absolutely adores him. She was not happy to have to be at the doctor's office yesterday and was on the verge of tears before he showed up. Her whole mood shifted, and she had spent the brief time you were in the waiting room and exam room telling Matt about different things around them.
You have a feeling, when you sit down and tell her the truth, she is going to be thrilled.
You told her that you are going to visit Matt at work today, and all morning she has been hunched over her sketchbook making pictures for him while you try to get in some hours at work. Try being the key word, as you've been thoroughly distracted by today's news cycle.
You were half listening to a puff piece about something or other when breaking news flashed across the screen. A neighborhood in Connecticut has been leveled by some sort of explosion, killing hundreds. They don't know if it was an accident or some sort of attack - the epicenter of the blast was a school, so it could potentially be either. You pray it was a freak accident, some faulty pipeline or a weird meteor, because the world doesn't need any more horribleness in it.
The idea that it might have been an attack makes you nervous. You've been through two horrible attacks on New York, and you didn't realize another big event so close to home would shake you so hard.
It scares you that you have to raise Minnie in such a harsh world, where monsters of all kinds are very very real and you don't know who you can rely on. The police and government have been shown to be all kinds of corrupt and people who can shoot laser beams fight each other in the skies.
You end up clocking out and going to sit with Minnie to get yourself to stop your doom-listening. She's got a few drawings scattered around the table and you pick up the one closest to you, smiling at her handy work.
You recognize the shapes as her interpretation of people - oblongs with stick arms and noodle legs. Unknowingly, she's made her first new family portrait. There are three blob-people all holding hands: you suspect you're the big orange one with a smile, Minnie is the little pink one in the middle with what you guess are pigtails, and Matt is the black one with red eyes, who is also holding a stick. To confirm, you ask her.
"Is this one Mister Matt?"
Her head shoots up and a big grin spreads across her face, "Yeah!  And that's you and that's me and we're gonna go to the zoo!" There is a little flurry of motion and suddenly you are getting a picture show. She holds up the paper she was working on - there's another family drawing, but this time there's green scribbles all around you and a blue square with zig zags all over it. You guess that is some sort of animal.
"You want to go to the zoo with Mister Matt?" You ask, examining her masterpiece.
"Yeah!" She says, pulling over another picture that you know are her versions of flowers, even if they are all different colors. "And the park!"
"And the park? Wow, that's a lot of things to do. Do you want to ask him if he wants to go to the zoo with us when we see him today?" Minnie eagerly nods at the question and that makes you smile. "Okay, we can invite him to the zoo. When are we going to the zoo?"
The question makes her bounce in excitement, "My birthday!"
You laugh at her enthusiasm and give her a little back rub, "Exactly. We're going to go for your birthday. And get a big cake with whatever you want on it." That makes her a giggly mess and you temporarily forget all the bad things in the world.
You hand her back her drawing before kissing the top of her hair, "How about you finish this one up and we get ready to go see Mister Matt? We can only visit for a little bit, because he's working, but I bet he'll love everything you made him."
Greedy little hands take back the paper and instantly Mouse is hunched back over her zoo scene, purple crayon in hand. You get up and go to make sure that you have everything you need to bring to Matt in order. You are extremely lucky that the doctor has the ability to print out things in Braille, so you don't need to make an extra stop to get things translated.
You debate bringing Matt lunch, but ultimately decide against it. You don't want to push too much too fast, and you think it might be a little weird for his coworkers, to see a random person bring him homemade lunch. You know he hasn't told anyone yet about yourself and Minnie - he had shyly admitted it didn't feel real until the test results were given and you completely get it.
You tidy up until you spy Mouse dropping her crayons into her bucket and cleaning up her drawing area. You let her do her thing, then approach, "Let's put your drawings with the other things we need to give Mister Matt. That way they won't get lost or wrinkled."
She nods like you've just said something very wise and gathers up her stack of papers before handing them over. There's five in total; the three she showed you and two more full of colorful lines. You decide you'll listen in on her explanation to Matt on those two, as you're curious as to what goes on in her little mind.
Once everything is safe and ready to go, it's just a matter of getting shoes on. You go with your sensible sneakers while Minnie opts for her frog themed Wellingtons. The plan is for both of you to walk to the office, and after one final wallet-keys-phone check in your purse, you head out hand-in-hand.
It's mid-morning, so foot traffic is decent, but not heavy - nothing that makes Minnie too uncomfortable. Dark clouds are gathering on the horizon, and it makes you wonder if the rain that has been promised in the forecast will be coming sooner than expected and you are glad this outing is the only one you have planned. Taking Minnie around in the rain is never fun. It always seems like everything becomes more bustling in the rain and trying to navigate that with a crying toddler just makes you want to cry as well.
But the promise of her new favorite person and mild weather has her walking like the born and bred New Yorker she is - a determined little pout with no nonsense steps. No one will be trying to sell her things on the sidewalks once she gets bigger. If she had a different personality, you'd want to teach her to say "Hey, I'm walking here" just to hear a toddler say it.
As you spy the building Matt's office is in, you realize you should have sent him a text to say you were on your way. You did let him know vaguely what time you planned to stop by and he had assured you that they had no appointments - it was catch up on paperwork day - but that didn't mean walk-in clients hadn't come by. You're so close to already being there that you think the gesture is pointless, so you just keep walking until you get to the building.
"This is where we are going," you tell Minnie as you approach. You scoop her up to show her the business directory on the outside of the building. There aren't very many plaques to begin with, so it's easy to find the Nelson, Murdock, and Page one. "That is where Mister Matt works with his friends."
She leans out and feels over the embossed sign, running her fingers over the different letters. "'M'! For Minnie!" She says, pointing out the letter with a big smile.
"Exactly. Mister Matt's last name starts with M, too. That word is his last name - Murdock."
That gets her to turn back to the sign, fingers dancing over the letters, brows knitting with curiosity, "How is it spelled?"
You spell out Murdock for her and Minnie repeats each letter after you. You do this a few times until she's able to say it out loud on her own. You don't know how long she'll retain the information, as spelling isn't really on the board yet, but you're happy she's interested. You set her back down and she makes a beeline up the steps, grabbing and pulling at the door with all her three-year-old strength.
The lobby to the building is sparse, with basically only an elevator and staircase, with a door to what you suspect is a supply closet. "We're going up two staircases," you tell your daughter.
"Two!" She confirms before taking off towards the stairs. You have a brief moment of panic that she's going to zip up both sets faster than you can catch her, but to your great amusement, she grabs a hold of the banister with both hands and pretends to use it like a mountaineering rope to climb the stairs. She even adds little fake huffs and puffs. You follow behind her, ready to catch her if she slips. She doesn't, and when you get to the floor Matt's office is on, she turns to beam at you, clearly proud of herself, "We did it!"
"We did it," you parrot, offering out your hand again. She takes it and you lead her to the correct door. The same plaque that was on the exterior of the building also hangs beside their door and Minnie astutely points to it.
"Murdock!"
"That's right, it says Nelson, Murdock, and Page."
"Can I knock?" Mouse asks, raising her fist to do just that.
You hum, then gently explain, "This is business, which means work. For work, we don't have to knock. We can go in if it is open."
As soon as you say that she's opening the door and marching inside and you quickly follow her.
Matt's law partners, Foggy and Karen, are in the reception area with a man you assume is a client of theirs, talking in hushed annoyed sounding whispers. He radiates intimidation, with a huge black eye and what looks to be a makeshift cast made of duct tape around his right wrist. The three of them turn to look at you and you get the sense Minnie had the right idea in asking if she should knock first.
Your little one quickly latches onto your leg, turning timid in the space of a second and you can't really blame her. Part of you wants to turn and run.
Karen recovers first, breaking away from the two exasperated men to step towards you and going into receptionist mode, "Hi. You were here last week to meet with Matt, right?"
"Uh, yes, that's right. Is he, uh, available?" You ask, feeling like you no longer know how to speak English. The energy in the room is not a pleasant one and you very much feel like you've interrupted something important.
"He's on a call currently but I'll let him know you are here," Karen replies in a voice far kinder than what she uses to address the men behind her a beat later. She turns to them and points to the office you know is not Matt's. "In there. Now."
Foggy throws up his hands, like he's frustrated with whatever is going on and disappears into the other room. The man you don't know doesn't follow, eyes on you and your daughter as Karen crosses the room to knock on Matt's door before opening it and slipping into the office. You quickly decide you are not going to make eye contact with him, instead ducking your head and putting a comforting hand on Minnie's head. She's practically hidden herself behind your legs, clinging to your pants so tightly you fear they might rip.
"I like your boots," the man says into the quietness. You expect him to sound like gravel, but his gruff voice is rather soft, and you get the feeling he understands how to talk to children "My daughter used to have boots like those."
 Part of you wants to tell the man to not talk to your daughter, but that would be rude and just because he looks like he's been through the ringer doesn't mean he's a bad man. You decide to let her determine how she wants to proceed.
You feel Minnie poke her head out from where she's hidden herself. At first, you don't think she's going to reply, as you know how she is, but she surprises you yet again by mumbling out, "They're froggies."
"Yeah? You like frogs?"
Mouse somehow tightens her grip, "I like animals." She presses her face against your leg, then admits, a little louder, "we're gonna to the zoo for my birthday."
That makes the man smile, and that changes his whole demeanor. Suddenly he looks friendly and kind and not like he's likely to stab you, "That's a good place to go for your birthday. How old are you gonna be?"
Before she can respond, the door to Matt's office swings open and Karen stalks out, followed by Matt, who seems much less agitated than everyone else. The blonde points to the unknown man, a little scowl on her face, "What did I say?"
The man holds up his hands defensively, stepping away from Karen and towards the office he was previously told to go in, "Alright, alright, I'm going. I'm going." That doesn't seem to help soothe her at all, as she grabs the man by the bicep and frog-marches him to join Foggy, closing the door behind them.
"They didn't make you wait long, did they?" Matt asks, bringing your attention back to him. There is a cut on his lip that wasn't there the last time you saw him, and your instinct is to ask if he is okay, but you don't know if you are at that level with him yet.
So instead, you address his question, "No, no, we just got here."
He motions back to his office, a smile spreading across his face, and you almost forget about the cut, "Come on back and we can review everything."
Minnie lets go of your pants only to take your hand again and you lead her into the other room. As you pass Matt, she looks up at him and gives a tiny wave.
"Hi, Mister Matt."
Matt's shoulders visibly relax at her greeting, and you can't help but start to smile, "Hi, sweetheart. How are you doing today?"
"Good! I maded you pictures," she says proudly. That causes him to pause as he starts to follow you into his office. You can tell he is surprised by the news - his voice gets a little choked up when he responds.
"You made me some pictures?"
"They are very good pictures," you advise, squeezing Minnie's hand slightly before letting go, "Do you want to tell Mister Matt what you drew for him?" She nods eagerly, so you point to one of the chairs in front of his desk. "Go sit like a big girl and you can tell him."
She makes a dash for the chair, and you take the time to address Matt, "I'm sorry, I should have called ahead."
He shakes his head, and as he walks past you to go behind the desk, he reaches out and brushes his hand along your arm. A little shiver runs up your spine at the touch and you tell yourself the action was so he could orient himself. "Not a problem, I knew you were coming. How is everything?"
"Everything is good," you reply, a little shyer than you intend to. "I, uh, have everything for you. Is there anything else I need to fill out?"
Matt shakes his head, "Just a signature and date. You've done all the work for me already. I don't think I've ever had to file where I don't need to actually do anything but sign the document. It's a refreshing change."
"Do you know how long it will take to process?" You ask as you move to join Minnie in sitting. "The website gave multiple timelines and I just want to be realistic."
Matt takes his seat with a cocky grin, "Not long at all, I know a few judges I can ask to push it through."
You flush at the idea of him asking a favor to a judge on your account, "That's not necessary, Matt, I don't mind waiting."
He shakes his head, getting that soft look again, "I don't want to wait. I want it to be official in the eyes of the government."
His words make you feel even warmer, and you distract yourself by pulling the file with all the paperwork out of your purse and pass it over to him. "Minnie's additions are at the bottom of the stack. The last five pages"
His fingers twitch slightly, and you wonder if he wants to flip right to those. You get your answer quickly.
"Minnie, is it okay if I go over the paperwork with your mom before you tell me about your pictures?"
"It's okay!" She replies, her voice much more cheerful now that you are alone with Matt. "Do you needs help?"
Her sweetness makes Matt smile more and he shakes his head, "Not right now, sweetheart. I need to read, and I can do that with my fingers, but after that you can help with some other things."
"Okay," she says happily, kicking her feet a little bit.
You catch her attention and motion to your purse, "Do you want a toy while you wait?"
She shakes her head and beams up at you, "No thank you, I'm a big girl!"
Both you and Matt chuckle at her declaration and he moves to open the file.
"There's multiple copies of everything," you tell him as you move onto business, "One printed text and one in Braille for the courts and the same for you. I have the same at home, as well. They are bundled in packets. The court papers are on top, Braille first."
He thanks you then begins to read the forms. Mouse sits up straighter in her chair to try and see what he is doing. She can just peek over the edge, and she watches in fascination as his fingers move over the pages. You wait quietly, not wanting to distract in any way.
"Everything appears to be in order. We will just need a signature," Matt says after a minute.
"Should I do that now?" You ask. The response is him offering you a pen, so you lean in to sign the various forms. As you set each document aside, Matt adds his own signature. It is silly how giddy you feel just having the forms finally completed. You don't know how long you've had just blank copies, waiting to be filed.
"And done," Matt says with a final flick of his pen on the last page. "I'm going to the courthouse on Tuesday, so I'll get it processed then. I'll push to get an updated certificate as quickly as possible."
You have to bite your lip to keep from smiling like a crazy person. This isn't some dream or far off fantasy. Matt isn't just saying he wants to be Minnie's father. He is following through, with urgency. This is something he wants and it's almost surreal for you - you are so used to promises being broken and no one being on the same page as you in your desires. Even if this is all for Minnie and not for you, it is still on the edge of overwhelming for you.
You never thought you'd be so happy over paperwork.
"Thank you, Matt," you whisper, leaning back into your seat to sit properly.
Immediately, Minnie parrots you, thanking Matt even though she has no idea what is going on.
"No, thank you. Thank you both," he says, and you wonder if he is also holding back from smiling. He gathers the papers and sets them aside before running his fingers over the folder you gave him and addressing his daughter. "Okay, sweetheart. Do you want to come tell me what you drew?"
You expect Minnie to stand on the chair and even prepare yourself to balance her, but that does not happen. She hops down and scurries around the desk to be at Matt's side and a moment later, he is pushing his chair back and she is climbing up into his lap. Embarrassment rushes through you - she's only ever behaved like this with you. She actually used to fuss and cry if anyone else tried to hold her. You haven't seen her sit in anyone else's lap since she had a say in who gets to hold her.
"Minnie!" You scold but Matt quickly shakes his head as he helps her up.
"It's okay, I don't mind," he tells you even though he looks completely shocked. If he wasn't her father, you wouldn't allow this, especially with someone so new to her, but he is her father, even if she doesn't know, so you don't tell her to get down.
Instead, you give a stern frown, "Minnie, you still need to ask before climbing on anyone, okay? Can you apologize?"
Your little girl nods, then looks up at him, "I'm sorry, Mister Matt."
"It's okay, sweetheart. Like I said, I don't mind, but your Mommy is right, and you should ask so I know you are there. Next time, you'll know. Now, your Mommy said there were five pictures. Which do you want to start with?" He asks, scooting his chair back to the desk while wrapping one arm around Minnie's waist to keep her secure.
Once she's able to, she leans in and picks up the first drawing in the stack. It is the family portrait, and you quickly get your phone out so you can record this interaction as Minnie lays out the picture. She then takes Matt's free hand and guides it to the paper before letting go to point at the circle that represents him.
"This is you," she tells him. He quickly finds where she is pointing and begins to trace the figure.
"That's me?" And there is definitely more than a little bit of emotion in his voice.
"Uh-huh, and that is me and Mommy and we're gonna go to see the duckies. Mommy said we can go again. But we're gonna get ice cream too. And a balloon," she says, moving her little finger all over the page.
You watch Matt's finger follow hers - first over the doodle of himself, then Minnie's, and finally yours. Then, he traces back to the center figure. "We're holding hands?" He asks tentatively.
"Yup!" She answers, popping the p. "Mommy says we gotta hold hands if we go outside."
Matt licks his lips a little and you see his muscles flex under his jacket as he holds Minnie a little more firmly to his chest, like he doesn't want to let go of her. "That's a good rule."
"Mommy makes good rules," your little one replies wisely. That makes your ego sing a little. Mouse has always been good at doing what she's told, and you are proud that she understands your rules keep her safe.
Before she moves onto the next picture, you gently prompt her. "Sweetie, was there something you wanted to ask Mister Matt?"
Matt's head jerks up at that, looking right to you with brows slightly knit. Minnie bounces in his lap just a little, squirming so she can turn to look up at him, "I'm gonna go to the zoo! For my birthday! Do you wanna go?"
His lips part in surprise at the question and before you know it, he has both his arms wrapped around Mouse, hugging her to him. She instantly responds, looping her little arms around his neck and squeezing back. He rests his cheek against her head, and you see him slightly rock her from side to side. "I would love to go with you to the zoo, sweetheart."
Minnie giggles into his neck and you one hundred percent know that the transition to suddenly having two parents is not going to be hard for her at all. It might be confusing because Matt won't be living with you, but you have never seen her so comfortable with someone who isn't you. You know it's not just because he gave her a toy. They just click together so well.
You switch from video to your camera so you can sneak as many pictures as you can of Matt and Minnie hugging. They've completely forgotten about you and that is a-okay.
In this moment, nothing else matters to you - not the strange man in the other office or the devastation a few states over or all the other trivial things that nag you and make your stomach turn.
Your world is right in front of you and for the first time in a very, very long time, you really, truly believe everything is going to be just fine.

Before the Dawn: Chapter I // Logan Howlett
This is the first fic I’ve written in 11 years, so pls be nice. I’m sensitive. Also sorry for the formatting of the dialogue, I’m more used to writing scripts. 09/17/24 Update: I revised the dialogue
Logan Howlett x f!mutant!reader Chapter 1/4 Word Count: 1874
Background: You are a mutant with hydrokinetic abilities (think Percy Jackson meets the mermaids from H2O), and arrived at the X-Mansion 4 months before Logan. You started dating Logan after the events of X-Men but before he left for Alkali Lake. You are both in love with each other but have yet to confess it. Takes place within the events of X2, Canon violence, pre-established relationship, allusions to sex
Today was already shaping up to be a difficult one. You were taking the students on a field trip to the science museum, but your hopes weren't high. The prospect of wrangling groups of children still learning to control their powers filled you with dread, especially with the escalating tension between humans and mutants.
Things went from bad to worse when you heard raised voices coming from the museum food court. You quickly glanced over to see John, Bobby, and Rogue in an altercation with some human boys. Just then, the televisions blared breaking news, drawing everyone’s attention.
“An attempted assassination at the White House?” you murmured, your stomach dropping as the report unfolded. A mutant had infiltrated the building and tried to kill the president in the name of mutant freedom.
Later, you found yourself standing in Charles' office with him, Scott, Jean, and Storm, discussing the attack.
Scott crossed his arms, his expression grim. “My opinion? Magneto’s behind this.”
“No,” Jean replied, shaking her head. “I don’t think so, Scott.”
Charles leaned back in his chair, contemplating. “While Erik might have organized something like this from prison, it’s too irrational. It only hurts his goal of mutant prosperity.”
Scott scoffed. “You mean superiority.”
“If Erik had his way, yes,” Charles admitted.
You interjected, “You know how the government will respond to this. They’ll reintroduce the Registration Act.”
Storm nodded. “Or worse.”
“Do you think the assassin was working alone?” Jean asked, her brow furrowed.
“The only way we’ll know is if we find him before the authorities do,” Charles said. “I’ve been trying to track him using Cerebro, but his movements are erratic.”
As Charles continued explaining the plan, you felt a weight in your chest. You were assigned to watch over the kids tonight. Normally, you wouldn’t mind, but with Logan gone for so long and the events of the day hanging over you, you weren’t in the best mood. Still, you kept your thoughts to yourself.
Just as the meeting was wrapping up, a sputtering rumble from outside caught your attention. You stepped to the window and your eyes lit up as you spotted Logan talking with Rogue, Bobby, and Storm. You caught the tail end of their conversation.
“We need a babysitter,” Storm said.
“Babysitter?” Logan replied, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes, with Y/N,” Storm added.
Logan perked up at the mention of your name, and your heart fluttered.
“Y/N? Where is she?” he asked, scanning the room.
“Right here,” you called, leaning against the staircase banister, smiling at him.
His eyes widened as he saw you—the most beautiful person he’d ever seen. He strode over to the staircase as you walk down, stopping on the step closest to his height. He wraps his arms around your waist.
“I missed you,” he said softly.
You cupped your hands around the back of his neck, trailing your fingers through his hair. “I missed you too, Logan.”
You pulled each other into a kiss, savoring the moment. But just as it deepened, you heard Storm clear her throat.
“There are kids around,” she reminded, and you pulled back, smiling sheepishly at Logan.
“Well, I should get the jet ready,” Storm said.
“Yeah, we should go too. It was nice to meet you,” Bobby added, pulling Rogue toward the common area.
As they left, you and Logan were left hyper-aware of the students passing by.
“So, what’s been going on here?” Logan asked, leaning closer.
“Well, you and I are on babysitting duty while Storm and Jean head to Boston. The professor wants them to track down the mutant who attacked the president,” you explained.
“Sounds like a blast,” he said sarcastically.
“You’re not gonna run off again?” you asked, tilting your head.
“I can think of a few reasons to stick around,” he replied, his hazel eyes sparkling with mischief.
You leaned in, kissing him again, pulling him further from any potential onlookers.
“You make me crazy, Princess,” he murmured, his breath warm against your lips.
“Keep that energy for later,” you teased, tugging lightly at his hair. He closed his eyes and groaned softly, and you loved how he reacted to you.
“Before we get too carried away, I should check in with Charles,” he said reluctantly.
You both pulled away, and he lifted your hand to his lips, kissing it gently. “We’ll talk more later, yeah?”
“Yeah,” you replied, watching him walk away with your heart swelling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night, after a passionate evening together, you were exhausted and just wanted to curl up in bed with him. You slipped into pajama shorts and one of Logan's shirts, turning to find him deep in thought, staring at a photo of the two of you on his nightstand. It was a candid shot Storm had taken, capturing you both leaning into each other on the mansion’s couch, completely absorbed in conversation. The look of pure infatuation between you is palpable, even in the still image.
“What’s on your mind?” you asked.
He looked up, breaking from his trance. “Hmm? Nothing. I just think you look beautiful in this picture.”
You sensed he wasn’t telling the whole truth, but you didn’t press. “Wanna come to bed?”
He took your hand, and you both settled in, snuggled together. It didn’t take long for you to drift off, enveloped in his warmth. Logan, however, was still plagued by nightmares of his past or what he couldn’t remember of his past. After about forty-five minutes, he gave up on sleep, kissed you on the forehead, and quietly slipped out of bed.
In the kitchen, he searched for something to drink and found Bobby sitting at the island.
“Doesn’t anyone sleep in this place?” Logan grumbled, rummaging through the fridge.
Bobby shrugged, taking a sip from his drink. “You’d be surprised.”
“Is there any beer?” Logan asked.
“This is a school,” Bobby pointed out.
“Well, is there anything here besides chocolate milk?” Logan continued.
“There should be some soda in the cupboard over there,” Bobby pointed.
Logan grabbed a bottle of Dr. Pepper but hesitated before drinking it. Instead, he passed it to Bobby to chill it with his powers. As they continued talking, a noise caught Logan’s attention, and he walked out of the kitchen to investigate.
As he turned back, he spotted a soldier, camouflaged, stalking toward Bobby, who was turned the other way. Logan sprang into action, grabbing the soldier and twisting his arm behind his back.
“You picked the wrong house, bub,” he growled.
Suddenly, a sonic scream filled the mansion, forcing everyone to cover their ears. For Logan, with his heightened senses, it felt like his head was going to explode. The soldier broke free, opening fire in the kitchen.
You jolted awake, disoriented from the sonic screech. An armed man stood in your doorway. The pain in your head was overwhelming, and before you could react, he shot you in the neck with tranquilizer darts. Everything went black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Logan fought through the chaos, he felt a sharp sting in his shoulder—three tranquilizers embedded in his skin and yanked them out. He fought through the brief haze, dispatching the soldiers around him. But as adrenaline coursed through him, his mind raced back to you. He had to know where you were—if you were okay.
He sprinted to his room, finding it empty. Panic clawed at him as he called your name. “Y/N!?”
He rushed toward the secret escape tunnel, spotting Colossus helping kids through a hidden opening.
“Have you seen Y/N?” Logan shouted.
“No,” Colossus replied, his face grave. “But I can help.”
“Help them,” Logan urged, pointing back toward the opening, his heart pounding as he fought his way back through the mansion.
When he spotted Bobby, Rogue, and John in danger, he leaped over the banister, taking out the soldiers and shouting for the kids to follow him. “Did you see Y/N?”
“No, but she probably made it out with the others,” Rogue said, her voice shaky.
Logan closed the escape hatch behind the kids, preparing for the incoming squad. “If you wanna shoot me, shoot me!”
“Wolverine, this is certainly the last place I’d expect to find you. How long has it been? Fifteen years? You haven’t changed a bit,” Stryker taunted, stepping into the light.
Logan’s claws extended, fury boiling within him. “Who are you?”
Stryker smirked. “I didn’t realize Xavier was taking in animals. Even animals as unique as you. Seems to be quite a life you’re trying to make for yourself. A home… a beautiful woman…”
From his pocket, Stryker pulled out a photo—the very one from Logan’s nightstand. They had you. Logan lunged forward, but a wall of ice sprang up between them.
“No!” he shouted, pounding on the ice.
“Logan, come on! Let’s go!” Rogue urged.
“He’s got Y/N!” Logan roared, his heart racing.
“We’ll get her back. Let’s go,” Bobby said firmly.
“Go! I’ll be fine!” Logan insisted, his determination unwavering.
“But we won’t!” Rogue plead.
Logan looked back at the wall of ice and then at the kids, torn between the two. Finally, he let out a frustrated huff and walked back to them. As they navigated the tunnel system, dark thoughts consumed him. The person he loved was captured. He might never see you again. He never got the chance to tell you he’d gladly run away with you, to live a life free from the chaos surrounding them. Tears welled in his eyes, but he quickly wiped them away, not wanting the kids to panic further. These fears haunted him throughout the drive to Boston.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up in a dim, concrete cell, surrounded by six kids from the mansion. Only two were conscious.
“Are you guys okay?” you asked, trying to remain calm.
They nodded. “We’re gonna be okay,” you reassured them, though doubt gnawed at you.
You tried to feel around with your powers for any ounce of water, but to your horror, you realized they were dampened. A faint blue glow illuminated the top of the cell—power dampeners.
After some time of comforting the kids, a soldier appeared in the grate above, drawing his gun.
“What are you doing?” you demanded, fear rising in your throat.
He pulled the trigger six times, one by one the kids collapsing around you with tranquilizer darts now back in their necks. “Please! They’re just kids!” you pleaded, desperation spilling from your voice.
An older, stockier man stepped out from behind the soldier. “Hello, Y/N,” Stryker said, his tone chilling.
“Why are you doing this?” you asked, shaking.
“I’m trying to fix a problem,” he replied coolly.
“You’re the problem!” you shot back.
“Oh, contraire, my dear. Mutants are a threat to our way of life, and I intend to fix that by any means necessary.”
The soldier shot a taser at you, and pain coursed through your body, forcing you to the floor. A door opened to your cell, and another soldier approached, holding a vile.
He flipped you onto your stomach, brushing your hair away from your neck, and you felt a sharp pinch. Whatever they injected you with turned your world upside down. Everything faded to black once more.
pairing: chanyeol x f reader, age gap
genre: smut 18+ MINORS DNI!!!
synopsis: reader begins a sexual relationship with an older man who happens to be the friend of a man her best friend babysits for.
warnings: big d*ck yeol, riding, praise, ~10 year age gap
series masterlist
“oh my god, is that mr. kim?” you best friend, seulgi, screeches, grabbing your arm and stopping in her tracks. you follow her line of sight to a table of five men, her boss dead center. “oh my god, what if he sees me?” she says, looking at you with wide eyes.
you shrug. “so what? it’s not like you’re working,” you try to reason, but she’s frantically shaking her head.
“i babysit his kids! he can’t see me dressed like a slut,” she says, and you snicker. neither of you have enough clothes on to even make a full body suit. “let’s go the other way.” she says, and you let her pull you around the backside of the bar to get to the actual bar counter. every few moments, she keeps looking over your shoulder to check that he hasn’t seen her.
“seul, relax. you’re not even doing anything wrong. he’s chill” you say, thanking the bartender when they slide your drink across the counter. seulgi shrugs, taking a sip of her drink. you’ve met mr.kim and his wife before, and they’re really nice people, and didn’t have a problem with you hanging out with seulgi while she babysat their children.
“i mean, yeah,” she starts. “but, i don’t know, i don’t want him to see me like this. its like getting caught with your pants down.” she finishes, and you roll your eyes, because it’s not even that big of a deal. yes, neither of you are dressed appropriately for running into any respectable adult, but its a saturday night, and you’re both young.
you turn to look at his table, and make eye contact with one of the men sitting around him. he holds your gaze for a beat, a small smirk on his face, before you blush and turn around, taking a gulp of you drink and ignoring the burn of your throat. “you should probably go say hi,” you tell her, kind of selfishly. she should at least say hi, but you also want to get close to that man.
seulgi frowns at you. “why?” and when you only shrug in response, she rolls her eyes at the realization. “who did you see?” she asks, and you can’t help but giggle.
“third from mr. kim, on the left,” you say without turning around. you see seulgi pretend to scope out the room, watching as her expression morphs from a squint to sheer sonic.
“fuck! oh my god, he saw me!” she cries, turning back to you. because she’s panicked, you keep your smile to yourself and slide off of the bar stool. “fuck, fuck, fuck! this is all your fault!” she moans, dropping her head onto your bare shoulder.
you push her off and link your arm through hers. “you are literally being so dramatic. it’s just mr. kim, you can always babysit somebody else’s kids,” you try and she glares at you. you glance across the room at their table, and you make eye contact with another one of his friends. they’re expecting you both to come over. “we have fans waiting for us. cmon, girl.” you say, downing the rest of your drink and encouraging her to do the same.
you two walk over, arm in arm, and you start to feel slightly nervous when 5 pairs of eyes are watching you walk toward them. you make eye contact with the man from earlier again, and watch his eyes roam your figure, lingering on your thighs before dragging down to your feet and going back up. he leans back in his chair, and you look away from him, un phased with the attention.
“hey, seulgi!” mr. kim says, standing up from his chair to give her a hug. you can tell she feels insanely awkward hugging her boss in such little clothes, but it’s brief and he’s back in his chair before you can blink. “hello, y/n.” he says, nodding his head at you. you smile and wave, and try not to put your gaze back on the man from earlier, but it’s getting harder by the second. you can feel his eyes on you.
mr. kim introduces (and reintroduces) the four men to you and seulgi: minseok, junmyeon, baekhyun, and chanyeol. chanyeol is the one who’s been eyeing you all night, and you don’t mind it one bit. you shake everybody’s hand, and when you get to the man of the hour, you make sure to smile at him sweetly and lean forward a bit. you knew you knew your strengths, and you also knew that you were not going home alone tonight.
you and seulgi manage to get comfortable in the group of men, and take one shot with them when baekhyun suggests it. you all click the shot glasses together, and down it, only you and seulgi being the ones to drink it in one go. “oh, to be twenty-two,” junmyeon jokes, earning laughs from the other men. you set the glass down and look over at chanyeol, and let yourself take him in, he’s wearing all black; black jeans, a black button up, and black shoes that look very expensive. a gold chain is visible around his neck, but its tucked under his shirt so it is only visible due to the first three buttons being undone.
he feels eyes on him, and looks over at you. you’re shameless in your ogling, wanting him to know that you want him. he motions for you to come close to him, and you scoot your chair over, leaning forward. one of your legs is between both of his, caging you in between him. “what are you drinking?” he asks, his voice deep and raspy. you put a hand on his knee as you tell him, and he stands up, pulling you with him. you two leave in the direction of the bar, without a goodbye, only throwing a look at seulgi over your shoulder.
chanyeol leads you to the bar and orders two drinks; one for you and one for him. you take a seat on the stool while he leans against the counter, facing you. “how old are you?” you blurt. he chuckles at this, which makes you feel better.
“how old do i look?” he asks, a playful smile on his face. you pretend to think hard, humoring him, before delivering your answer.
“thirty?”
“thirty-one,” he corrects and you raise your eyebrows. ten years isnt that bad, right? it won’t feel like ten when you are older, of course, but it really isn't that bad. “is that old?” he asks, taking out a few bills and putting them on the counter when the bartender sets your drinks in front of you both.
“no,” you reply, taking your drink and clinking the glasses against each other. “just older than im used to, i guess.” you say, keeping your eyes on him as you take a drink.
chanyeol lets out a small chuckle. “you got a boyfriend, y/n?” he asks, tilting his head to the side. you shake your head and then avert your eyes to his left hand. no ring.
somewhere between the drinks and the flirting, you and chanyeol ended up stumbling outside and into his car. nobody was driving, no. there was a different agenda happening, which is how you end up on top of him in the front seat of his black corvette. you're thankful for the darkness of the sky and his tinted windows, because what you're doing is practically straight out of a porno.
chanyeols large hands grip your thighs tightly as you bounce up and down on his dick rhythmically, occasionally holding onto the dash or behind you, or the ceiling of the car, for support. "fuck, y/n," he groans, his head thrown back and his neck on display. you lean forward and start kissing on his neck, rolling your hips into his. "shit, you're tight. you're taking me so well." he says, one hand moving to the small of your back. you appreciate the praise, because getting used to him took way longer than it ever has--in fact, this is the only time you've ever really had to adjust to someones size. you're taking his dick like a champ.
"ch-chanyeol, fuck!" you cry out, holding onto his shoulder with one hand and the ceiling with the other. chanyeol opens his eyes and looks up at you, bringing his hand up to your jaw to pull you closer to him. you allow chanyeol to pull you into a sloppy kiss, and whimper in pleasure when he drags his hand from your jaw to your throat, and takes a loose but firm hold on you.
you bounce on him until the coil in your stomach tightens and then snaps, and you’re creaming all over him, head thrown back and moans leaving your mouth. but he hasn’t come yet, so he grabs your head and holds it against his shoulder as he drives his hips upwards and into you, careful not to knock your head against the roof of the car.
“f-fuck!” he groans, panting and gasping as he continues to fuck into you. you kiss at his neck, not leaving any marks like he asked when you first got in the car, but you so badly want to bite and suck on his skin.
chanyeol grips your ass as he pulls you up and down on him, and when his grip tightens enough to leave handprints, you know he’s close. “y/n, shit,” he groans, and you connect your lips to his, tongues clashing as he releases into the condom, his hips stilling. you practically deflate on top of him and he supports you by wrapping a muscular arm around your waist.
you pull away from his mouth and look down at him, a small smile spreading across your lips when you see the look in his face. he wears a lopsided smirk, and his eyes are low.
this certainly won’t be the last time you see him, not with dick like that.
So what was his marvelous plan? He was just gonna swing by his house, web his jacket and shorts, and swing over as fast as he could; the issue with this plan? He would’ve been 3 minutes late and he couldn’t take that. He could text you but your words rang through his head like a bell:
“don’t. be. late."
It was the one thing you asked of him and he couldn’t even do that. Reveal his identity? He didn’t even tell his own parents, let alone yours; forget it. Maybe just go to your window, web the clothes, change on the fire escape, swing down and ring your doorbell? That seemed like the best plan in the moment. So, Miles carried out the act; he was whimsical, quick and still managed to make it the only issue? He was a minute late.
“Where is he?” you mumbled to yourself
Suddenly, you heard a knock at the door and your parents voice:
“Hello, young man. How can I help you?” your parent asked
“Uhm, I am here for, Y/n. We’re dating and I was supposed to meet you” Miles said, nervously.
“Why did I add in the dating part?” Miles questioned in his head
“Oh! Well, hi; I’m Y/n’s mom. Don’t mind (y/d/n dads name), can be a bit mean” your mom answered
“It’s okay. It’s nice to meet you both. I’m Miles” Miles said, his voice still trembling
“Well nice to meet you, Miles! Y/n has told us so much about you, you’re all she talks about” Your mom said
“Mom!” you said
“Hey, Miles. You can set your jacket down in the closet” you said
“Okay” he obliged
Miles began to take off his shoes out of habit when your dad jumped in:
“woah dude, what are you doing?"
“Oh! It’s customary to remove your shoes in my house. It shows you have respect for someones house by not tracking dirt in” Miles informed
“oh. well don’t get too comfortable here, we don’t do that.” Your dad said, sternly
“Yes sir. I’m sorry.” Miles said, feeling embarrassed
“Y/d/n! Don’t be so mean to the boy.” your mom scolded
“He’s the one taking off his shoes and shit.” your dad said.
“Dad!” you started
“It’s okay, y/n. I mean it.” Miles reassured
The rest of the meal and day went well. Miles gave your mom the flowers, he reintroduced himself to your dad and gained a bit of his respect, and he managed to make them both laugh. You thought the meal couldn’t get any better until your dad brought out your favorite game:
“Let’s play Uno"
“Oh yay! I love uno but someone always beats me at it” your mom said looking at you
“Well what can I say? I’m the champ” you said, proudly
“Miles, are you good at Uno?” your dad asked, patting him on the neck
“yeah I’m pretty okay at it. Y/n always beats me tho” he replied with a smirk
“Hey maybe we can team up on her” your dad laughed
“Hey! No fair!” you laughed
“you know we’re kidding, y/n” your mom said before gesturing to Miles and your dad to team up
The cards were dealt and before you knew it, you had been down to your last two cards. Just when you thought you were about to sweep and win again, Miles puts down a +4 which you prepared for but what you weren’t expecting was for your mom and dad to put one down going back to miles who whispered an “I’m sorry” to you and put down another +4.
Your heart dropped in horror; you know were forced to pick up 20 cards. You stared in disbelief while Miles smirked and your parents picked up the cards and slid them over to you. You slammed your hand on the cards and slowly dragged them over to you.
“Hijo de puta” you cursed under your breath
“Hey don’t curse because you got +20’d” Miles laughed with a smug smile
As your entire family was laughing at you, Miles froze. You knew this look all too well because this was the look he gets when his senses go off. You looked in his eyes and followed his gaze to a man in a full black attire with spots, staring at you. Your breath hitched and your family took notice
“Is everything alright, y/n?"
“Mhm” you said, your mouth becoming dry
“I have to go. I am so sorry, something came up with my parents” Miles said
“Oh okay! It was nice having you, feel free to come by anytime” Your mom said as Miles rushed outside, stripping on the way
“What was his deal?” your dad asked
“His parents needed him for something” you lied
“They couldn’t wait until I showed him my rare coin collection?” your dad chuckled
All you could do was laugh and smile at your dad.
“Oh look! It’s spider-man!” your mom exclaimed
You snapped your head in that direction, earning a crack from your neck and you saw Miles getting rocked while the man in black escaped into a portal. You texted Miles:
You: Is everything alright?
Miles: notreally
You: Can I help?
Miles: nosorry
Miles: I’m gonna be gone for a while. This guy is bigger than I thought. In case I don’t come back, Mami; I had a great time and I love you
You: Miles don’t say that you’re gonna come back
You: You always do
You: Miles?
Omg what is starlet reader was ewans daughter and Hayden used to babysit her when she was a kid
MINORS DNI 18+ NOTES: i rly liked this concept :) feel free to ask me about it more! i think this was a good broad start to it WARNINGS: dead dove do not eat | age gap | dark content proceed with caution | there is absolutely no predatory acts mentioned, but because the situation is inherently predatory i'm tagging it | sexual content at the end | implied smut | no y/n
! ── "Yeah, no problem. We'll stay on site at my trailer, order a pizza. How hard could it be?" HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN assures Ewan, who frowns at him in response, clearly amused. "Alright, I'm going to pretend you didn't say that." he pats Hayden on the back as he exits, and when he gestures to you, he tells you a simple "Be good." Your complexion flushes when Hayden lays eyes on you. "You ready?"
! ── "I don't need a babysitter." you tell him as he picks up a slice of pizza from the box, the strings of cheese stretching thin until they break. You have a raging, hormonal and proximity induced crush on your dad's co-star. Not to mention he's a total babe, and so kind. Desperately, you want him to see you as independent, as cooler than you are. You think he's so grown up even though he's barely older than a legal adult. "Sure you don't. We're hanging out." he replies so easily that you almost believe him, even though he's only saying it to make you feel better.
! ── You've always been so standoffish with him. You found any excuse to be around him, but you'd jade yourself out of fear he'd find out your embarrassing feels for him. Often you'd fantasize about him confessing his love to you— but had no idea how problematic that'd be if he did. Now, you're inside his trailer, alone with him, and he's coaxing you out of your shell by making you play one of his video games. It smells like a boy's room in here. "Ugh! I'm no good at this!" you cry, throwing your hands down into your lap. Frustrated over your lack of progress, you've been going around in circles in this mission for what felt like hours. It exacerbated your already heightened stress levels around him. Would he think less of you for not doing well? "Wait a second, hold on," His voice is surprisingly soothing, muffled by the pizza crust stuck in between his molars like a cigar. You don't realize it's because he's resisting the urge to leave you here when he steps outside to smoke. He promised he'd keep an eye on you, so that's what he's doing. Besides, he doesn't wanna be a bad influence on you. He reaches over, and you relinquish the controller to him, his hand grazing yours in the process. "Let's see here..." Instead of paying attention to the screen, you stare at where the point of contact was. "There, see? You had it." he tells you, handing you back the controller after he'd gotten you past your obstacle.
! ── It would be several years before you'd see Hayden again, but you didn't forget him or his extraordinary kindness. He had a way with words, a way of making you feel heard and important. That doesn't change at all— he hasn't changed at all. Besides the way he looks at you now that you're all grown up, established in the world as your own person. Ewan thinks to reintroduce you to Hayden, but he didn't forget your name. Exclaiming it even as he pulls you into a polite embrace, relaying to you he hardly recognized you, that you look great, etc. Just like that, your raging crush is back. Like it never left.
! ── It picks at you until you act on it, until you confess to Hayden you've always had a thing for him. You're both older now, which means you're not so ashamed of yourself, but can look back on it as normal childhood feelings. You're thankful your fantasies were never answered until now. "A crush? On me?" he asks in entertained disbelief, gesturing to himself. "Yes! Obviously," you insist, "You were always so nice to me. Watching out for me when my dad was working later than he thought. How could I not? C'mon," "I'm not judging you," he assures, and he shrugs, "I just... didn't know is all." It's apparent he doesn't know what to do with this information. "Does that make you uncomfortable?" "Yes and no." "Why?" He meets your eyes. There's a tentativeness to his countenance, a debate behind his gaze over whether or not he should say his next words, if they're appropriate, if they'll be received well. "Because I've got a crush on you now."
! ── Going through your normal stages of adolescence, experiencing the journey of discovering your sexuality, exploring it as an adult with your own autonomy— there was always that inkling in the back of your mind reminding you of your lingering childhood crush on Hayden Christensen. How you've never felt anything for anyone as intensely as you did for him. Those buried feelings manifest when you finally allow them to roam, sweeping you up and away. He'd invited you to his trailer to catch up, and you end up on top of him.
Weird Science | Chapter II
Egon Spengler x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Notes; This is a shorter chapter and is kind of a filler I guess, but I promise there's more the next one. There is no summary for this.
[Warnings; Some foul language and that's about it.
Part 2/? | <Previous Chapter | Next Chapter>
꒷꒦︶꒷꒦︶︶꒷︶︶︶︶꒦꒷꒦︶︶꒷꒦︶︶꒦︶︶︶꒦꒷
Ring, Ring, Ring, Ri-!
You run from the other room to get the telephone, nearly tripping over some of the boxes scattered throughout your apartment. You answer the phone, picking it up and holding it to your ear.
"Hello?"
"Y/n! Hey, it's Ray. I was calling to see if you wanted to swing by our research area sometime this week? Me and the guys have been working on something but hit a bit of a roadblock and need help getting it fixed or changed up soon," Ray's voice rings out excitingly through the phone.
"Hey Ray! Sure I can, but it'll probably have to be either tomorrow or Friday, I'm kinda stuck moving some of the boxes out to my apartment right now,"
"That's fine, Y/n. Also, how do you feel about getting some drinks with me and the guys this weekend? I figure I can reintroduce you to Peter and Egon again. I think it'd be fun if you aren't too busy," Ray suggests.
"Great! I wouldn't mind going with you guys, I think it'd be nice especially with all this that's goin' on right now too." You say, twisting the telephone cord in between your fingers.
"Great! How about you come on over Friday and after we finish up we can all go down to a bar for the night. The work shouldn't take too long."
"Yeah that works, I'll see you Friday then. Bye now."
"Bye Y/n, see you Friday." Ray says before hanging up the phone.
You place the phone back into its holder, then walking through the stacks of boxes to get back to organizing them.
I forgot just how much fun it was to talk to friends, why did I ever loose touch with all of them? Especially Ray.
You pick up a box labeled Motherboards and Breadboards, scribbled out in messily neat handwriting, picking it up and placing it on top of the boxes labeled Wires.
You had only been moving your stuff out for two days now, so regardless of the amount of shit you had in your apartment currently, you still weren't done and there was unfortunately plenty left in what used to be your lab.
You go to turn on your radio, tuning it to a radio station that played some of your favourite stuff and luckily managed to catch it just as a song was about to play.
-bzzt!- "...You're listening to 97.5 FM, the top radio station where you can get all of the newest -bzzt!- hits! Here's Everything She Wants from Wham's new album 'Make It Big'!" -bzzt!-
You make a mental note to remember that you need to buy another radio, as the speakers on yours were starting to give out.
"Somebody told me, "Boy, everything she wants, is everything she sees" I guess I must have loved you, because I said you were the perfect girl for me, baby,"
You danced as you organized more of your boxes. "Where on earth am I going to put all of these?" You said to yourself, putting your hands on your hips.
"Somebody tell me, o-" -pop!- -fzzt!- Your radio began to pop and spark, and it finally gave out with some mild vapor coming out of it.
"Shit! No, please don't give out on me now." You sigh, unplugging the radio from the port and trying to fan away the smoke.
'As if my week couldn't get any worse right now. I'm starting to look forward to Friday more and more.' You think to yourself.
You run your fingers through your hair, deciding to take a nap so you could try to calm yourself down.
---------------------------------------
You wake up, stretching and letting out a groan. You look at your bedside clock. 7:47 PM, the clock read.
You get up and head into your kitchen to make dinner. You grab a pot, a can of tomato soup, some bread, and a couple slices of cheese.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup couldn't really be considered the best dinner but its what you had. that's another thing you needed to add to your list. New radio, more groceries.
You add the can of tomato soup and a can of water into the pot and turn the heat on. You get four slices of bread and four slices of cheese out, placing them onto your cutting board as you go to grab your skillet and some butter.
You walked back into your living room to turn on your answering box to listen to any messages you might've gotten while you were napping.
-beep!- "You have- 3 new messages" -beep!-
You walk back into the kitchen to make your grilled cheese, turning the stove on for the skillet and putting two slices of butter on it to melt.
"Hey, Y/n! It's Sarah. I wanted to call to tell you that Mark and I are engaged now! How awesome is that, right! I'll have to talk to you about it when you actually answer your phone. I'll talk to you later, bye!" -beep!-
You smile to yourself, it was always good hearing from Sarah, you never got to talk to her often and you were happy that she finally got engaged with Mark. It might be better to meet with her to congratulate and talk to her, you'll call to tell her that later.
"Hey, Y/n. It's dad. I heard about what happened at the University and I want to say I'm sorry, kiddo. If you ever need help with anything or just want to come and hang out with your old man you can always come over whenever you want. I hope you feel better and, uh, yeah. I love you, stay safe." -beep!-
It was always so nice to hear from your parents. You hated to say it but it was even better when you heard from your dad rather than your mom. You'd always been daddy's little girl though. You need to go and visit them very soon, you forgot just how much you missed them.
You take both of the grilled cheeses off of the skillet and turn of the stove for both the soup and the skillet.
"Hey, Y/n, it's Ray again. Good and exciting news; me, Venkman, and Spengler got actual evidence that phantoms and ghosts are real and even got an ectoplasm sample. Not so good news; we've all been kicked out of the University today. I guess the Dean decided he was done with us in the same week. Anyway, just wanted to sha-" -beep!- "Time limit exceeded." -beep!- "You have no more messages" -beep!-
"Shit. I hope they're okay." You say to yourself, taking your plate and bowl to place it on your kitchen island.
Your home didn't feel all that cozy now with all of the boxes scattered throughout your apartment. Though you guess it never was to begin with.
There were only the bare necessities. A bed, one chair next to the island, pots and pans, food, a small television, a table where the television and phone sat, and a few other kitchen appliances. You were always at your lab so you didn't feel the need for a couch, things for hobbies, or anything else that weren't completely necessary, though you guess that a television wasn't exactly necessary.
You sit at the island and eat, turning on your television and putting on the news. Nothing interesting to say the least, just the same boring thing as everyday.
You sigh and clean up the mess from your food, walking them and putting them up to dry. Turn off the television and head into your room to go to bed again.
Though it sucked to have been fired from the University, you had a lot of time to relax now, to sleep a normal amount of time for the first time in years. But the downside of it is that you were bored. So.. incredibly.. bored.. This was also the first time that you had nothing to do in years to occupy your hands and mind. It was awful.
You finally fall asleep after letting your mind wander, thinking about how you never would have had to let Thallman go work with another professor if you would've just done something else to not piss of the Dean.
꒷꒦︶꒷꒦︶︶꒷︶︶︶︶꒦꒷꒦︶︶꒷꒦︶︶꒦︶︶︶꒦꒷
This was a shorter chapter and I'm actually being smarter about making chapter fics, making two of them at a time so people don't wait ages for one individual chapter to be released (And I'm terribly sorry for that, guys), and I'm sorry for the pace that this is going. But the next chapter is going to have more, I promise. I'll stop the ranting for now, I do hope you enjoyed it, though.
rika says hi (no she doesn’t)
Tumblr media
synopsis yuta meets u for the first time
pairing okkotsu yuta x gn!reader
wc 0.6k
note why is hand holding the most intimate thing i can think of also this is awful so sorry about that :)
Tumblr media
yuta looked his new classmates over, still overwhelmed by everything that had happened within the last week. the amount of students (or rather, lack of students) was baffling for him. he licked his lips before speaking, “so it’s just the three of you in the first year?”
maki shook her head, picking a flower from the ground and throwing it to the side after examining it, “no, there’s also (name), but they’re not here right now,”
“they should be getting back today though,” panda commented, rubbing his chin, toge nodding beside him, “they’ve been overseas for the last week, in… indonesia…?”
“yeah,” maki confirmed, getting up from the ground, motioning for the others to do the same, “we should probably start preparing for their return,”
“preparing?”
the young woman looked yuta in the eyes, “wrapping ourselves in bubble wrap,”
“huh?”
“you’ll understand when they come,” panda said as toge helped him to his feet.
“maki!” your voice came out of nowhere as you attached your body to maki’s, hugging her tightly from the side, “i missed you,”
“we were too late,” panda mumbled.
maki, who’s heart had nearly jumped out of her chest, sighed loudly, her arm wrapping around your waist to support your body, “you can’t just jump on me like that,” she scolded you gently, looking you in the eyes. she rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face when you smiled as an apology. after flicking your forehead and ignoring your complaints, maki turned to the rest of the first years, presenting you to an awkward looking yuta, “yuta, this is (name), (name), this is yuta, don't overwhelm him,”
you nodded enthusiastically, walking closer to the male maki had introduced, “hello,” you smiled at him, reintroducing yourself while holding your hand out for him to take, which he did hesitantly.
“i’m yuta,” he muttered, barely able to hold eye contact. your hands were soft despite looking a little rough. his throat closed up when you leaned closer, like you were inspecting him.
you pulled him closer by his hand, “is there a curse attached to you?” you asked sweetly, holding eye contact with the shy boy.
yuta froze, stammering, “what? how did you-” he stopped - you were so close he could smell your body mist, the nice smell was overwhelming him.
“(name) is good at sensing curses,” panda explained, to which you nodded and hummed in confirmation.
understanding, yuta nodded as well, “there is, yes. her name is rika,”
you smiled to where the curse was, “hello rika, i’m (name)!”
“she says hi,” yuta smiled awkwardly.
rika did not say hi.
in fact, yuta could feel her anger grow as you kept holding onto his hand, but he didn’t think it would leave the best impression to tell you she wanted to kill you.
especially not when you were this cute.
your eyebrows furrowed at his lie before your face morphed into a soft smile, “it’s nice to meet you, rika,” your eyes went to yuta’s, “you too, yuta, i hope we can be friends,”
“yeah… me too,”
“it’s been five minutes and he hasn’t stopped blushing,” maki said to panda and inumaki. she narrowed her eyes at the new student, watching him as he grew more red by the minutes when your innocent questions about him kept coming.
panda hummed, “but that’s pretty typical isn’t it? miwa from kyoto was like that, too,”
inumaki nodded in agreement, having a clear picture of miwa almost fainting when you talked to her (he even got it on video).
“have you shown yuta and rika around yet?” you asked your friends, looking over your shoulder.
“not yet,” maki answered.
“let’s go then!” grinning, you took yuta’s hand in yours, giving him no choice but to follow you, the rest following you as well.
yuta’s eyes went to your hand in his. he’s guessing you noticed, because he felt a small squeeze and when he looked at your face, he saw you smiling softly to him.
maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Salutations dear Renee! I have become completely endeared to your self aware Ingo after reading all your works! I had the idea of aware PLA Ingo about what if after reader has had proper contact with Ingo and he expresses his feeling, then finds out that him being sent home isn’t part of the current game (still praying for DLC to send our boy home!), they say screw it! I’ll do it myself! So they learn programming, 3D modeling, the works, to give Ingo the world and everything he deserves! They safely back him up three times over just in case, then get the code of every game he’s been in (DS & Mobile) to give him all his memories back! Even model and reintroduce Emmet and all friends to him again so he won’t ever be alone when they aren’t there! Hell even recreate a Nimbasa for them!
Getting him out here or getting to him may be near impossible, but I would want to bend over backwards to give him the next best thing, the world, His World, and every happiness in it. No matter how much work was involved or the long nights it took. Plus when a world is 1’s and 0’s that’s not impossible! Think of the possibilities! Make them railways and steam trains to travel on! Amusement parks to visit! Heck you could make him fabulous outfits to dress up in! You could even make little virtual dates to go in with him like a dating sim! 😆
Sorry if this was a bit much 😅 Just got a little swept up in all these ideas. Thank you for your time and all that you’ve shared! You are incredibly kind and talented person! 😊 Your works have been just a wonderful comfort these past few days. I Wish you all the best!
Salutations! I want to apologize ahead of time because I know absolutely not a thing about coding, so this will be a little vague with concern to that. Sorry, love!
🍓🍓🍓
Ingo appreciates all you do for him. You keep your switch on constantly, so he's always able to chat with you should he want. He'll watch you work away at something, asking you questions and listening to you talk about your day.
He knows you're designing things for him. A whole world that you'll create yourself, of the place he used to live. You're downloading code as well, all of his appearances and sayings that ever existed, for him to be able to finally recall. He's not sure how it works, but he appreciates how hard you're working
When you finally complete your project, you're incredibly nervous. You're scared to lose him, and he's scared too, but he trusts you. He wants this new life you've made for him, and he's excited to see it. Besides, you've taken precautions. If things don't work out, he'll still be here. You'll just try again
When he wakes up next, he's at home. His head buzzes with memories, carefully sorting themselves out with what's already filled his brain. He recognizes his room, and smiles when he realizes you've succeeded. You did it!
He calls your name when he doesn't automatically see you. Something buzzes on the nightstand, a phone, and when he answers it, there you are. You're so happy it worked out.
You tell him to go explore, you've set this place to always be running, so he doesn't have to worry about anything stopping. He wants you to be with him, however. He's so appreciative that you gave him his life back. How can he just run off without you, after all your hard work?
You just laugh and insist he'll see you later. So he begrudgingly goes about his day. He hugs Emmet endlessly, who laughs but allows the affection. The two ready to go out, to go visit Elesa, but Ingo's still itching to see you. Where will he see you?
He sees you at the station, or at least someone who looks like you. When he approaches, it feels stiff, but he knows it's you. The person speaks in your voice and dialect, leading him to believe this is a you you've added, for him to see.
So he flirts with you, to his brother's exasperation. He can hear your laugh along with the model of you, so it's nice.
Yeah, this is really nice. He'll need to think of a way to repay you. Maybe he can take this you on a date? Nimbasa has a lot of nice restaurants. . .
🍓🍓🍓
I want to thank you for always being so kind to me in the comments you leave on my posts. You're the highlight of my day, and I feel so good knowing that you like the things I post so much that you're willing to write in the comments on them. I hope you're having the best day, love, and thank you again <3
Falling as a metaphor for transition & letting go of the binary
I saw a post about this crowley & transness today (I think by @crowleysbarmitzvah ?*) who was relating it to his experience as a trans man, which I do relate to somewhat (I'm a genderfluid trans man), but I'm currently having an experience which is widening this particular metaphor for me.
I'm watching a chronological compilation of all of Aziraphale and Crowley's meetings from both seasons of the show. So we have them meeting in heaven, pre-fall, and them meeting again on the wall.
When they meet in heaven, Aziraphale introduces himself, and gives Crowley a clear chance to introduce himself. He doesn't. We don't know his deadname! The show is super intentional about this; it's hard to tell if Crowley is avoiding the question or not. Did Aziraphale find out who he was?
When they meet again on the walls, there is a very distinct moment where Aziraphale hesitates and gives Crowley a space to introduce himself. Is he doing this because, as we'd previously assumed, he doesn't know his name? Or because it's expected for a demon to have a new name? Much like your cis friend might clumsily ask you to reintroduce yourself, is Aziraphale asking Crowley?
He introduces himself as Crawly. This invokes grime, bugs, it's very Hell - the inverse of nice, spotless Heaven. He's rebelling hard against that which abandoned him. He's leaning hard into the binary opposition of heaven.
But then, he spends a few hundred years on earth, and - it's Crowley. He's let go of any desire to fit in with hell. He goes along with what's least likely to make him miserable, and that often means being around aziraphale, which means he also gets to recreationally lie to hell about what he's been up to,
And I know at this point it's like - well, yeah. All of good omens and crowley especially is about "black and white thinking sucks and makes you stupid and miserable". So you can apply the story as a metaphor to a lot of types of binaries, really. But whatever.
My POINT IS!
He changed his name again after spending more time sitting with his situation, bc he realised that the old one didn't really represent him that well.
It's like if [redacted] transitions into Roger then decides they're more of a River.
Extremely transgender behaviour. All im saying
*I'm on mobile & can't double check, I will edit this if I'm wrong lol
Ooooouuuughh im having crowley gender thoughts again
Mysterious Benedict Society Liveblog Season 2 Episode 2: A Bit of a Light Chop
And... we're back. Looks like no one has seen my liveblogs yet and my post still aren't appearing under tags, so for now I'll be blogging straight into the void.
Edit: wait hold up I think they might have fixed it in that case hello everyone!
0:57- Time for our fancy cruise! Yes Sticky, enjoy yourself. Nothing more despised then stowaways? I don't know about that. Oh it's Captain Noland! He was in the book. That I read. Several years ago... It's been awhile so at this point there's a lot I'm being reintroduced to. Oh my gosh I love Captain Noland. Anyone who monologues that dramatically is bound to be entertaining.
2:40- "always wanted to live through a mutiny" Constance girl, you'll be the one leading it.
3:25- so... that's not the tether ball team, it's a water pollo team. Is Martina on that team? Oh wait no it's those creepy women curse my face blindness but thank you to the camera man for zooming in on them dramatically.
4:30- ~STOWAWAYS~ I just- I love the drama of this. Oh my gosh I love Captain Noland. "I need them walking the plank" "That is no longer legal. Was it ever ethical" "metaphorically" - yes. This man has no idea who the stowaways are but is totally 100% drama ready. I love it. MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THEM. Oh here we go!
6:30- OH HERE WE GO! (7:00) Oh my gosh his smile is so creepy. He's become so unhinged in such a short time. Poor SQ, now he's gone from having a distant cold angry dad to one who has purchased a first class ticket to crazy town.
7:30- why is he suddenly being nice to #2? Oh my gosh what silly manipulation is he trying now. That's right number 2. Don't take his stupid tea.
8:00- YES JILLSON and JACKSON! Not SQ or Martina, but I'll take it. PFT "we don't trust you" "well earn it- everyday day and everyway" oh Jackson never change. No why get the full picture, just run in any direction! Steal the golf cart! He's gonna hypnotize you into staying if you don't get out now.
9:30- oh I see. So Reynie is a bit clingy and Sticky is a bit distant.
9:40- YES CONSTANCE BACKSTORY. Not the polar bears and clowns RIP.
11:00- That's right, Rhonda, Milligan and Ms. Perumal, you deserve to fly in style.
11:30- Oh my gosh, Jackson looks like he's in tears, wait I treasure you? Hold up I always thought they were siblings, are they a couple? Are they ever gonna tell us?
12:00- Do the lemons ever mean anything? Oh my gosh this is the cultyest cult to ever cult. And seriously, "make each other"- is Jillson and Jackson's relationship just going on in the background? No number 2 don't eat the lemons! Skin and all too. What if they have some poison that affects the brain? Oh my gosh when life gives you lemons- is he gonna make them drink lemonade as part of his stupid pun game? Probably.
13:30- "are you talking about the bathroom" Number 2 is the best.
14:00- "their worry will soon lead to action" yes Mr. Benedict knows his kids.
16:00- Awkward. And yeah, I think them being ceiling fan haters was a long shot Reynie.
16:50- oh right no sugar because they dumped it out. oh my gosh Noland is being tortured by this situation. RUPTURED A SUPERTANK - What- Captain Noland is ready to drop his tragic backstory, finally someone who isn't gonna make me wait several seasons.
17:30- Perfect storm: some stowaways and no sugar. Oh my gosh Situation Alpha. This is phenomenal.
18:00- "no one thinks we're the stowaways" you're 4 kids unsupervised with only one change of clothes your the most stowaway-y stowaways to ever stowaway.
18:44- Oh great. The Sticky outgrowing his friends plot is growing, wait is he trying to impress his old friends. Honey, you are a genius you don't need to try this hard. NO KATE DON'T TALK TO THE SCARY WATER POLO LADIES. "That is why we play for a living" oh dear. Never mind, yes Kate get the info and call their bluff when you realize they are not legit.
21:00- He's been obsessed with being liked. Yeah no kidding. "Almost as sweet as your brother" oh shut up Sebastian. When did Curtain even have time to write a book? Was it the year in exile?
25:00- oh Milligan trauma dumping. No sadly it's not simple. Maybe Ms. Perumal can help him get his memory back.
26:00- Don't grab the fence, it will shock you. Trust me, I saw the trailer. And every other show with this plot. Also it's Curtain what else would he do.
26:33- CALL SQ BACK? CURTAIN WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THAT BOY? YOU BETTER NOT HURT HIM! Yes the Benedict busts in on Curtain scene we've all been waiting for. "Protecting the Vibe" Curtain's literally just messing with his brother at this point.
27:20- Yeah his movements and voice cadence are extremely unsettling. Sure call it neuroscience if you want, or deplorable, I call it being a punchable creep. Heartbroken? Oh poor benedict. He needs to run into SQ, they both need some love right now. Also, I wonder which brother is really jealous of who here? Benedict jealous of Curtain for having everything when he made unethical choices, or Curtain jealous of Benedict because he has a stable group of friends and family that love him without him needing to control them? Much to think about.
29:15- um hi Sebastian. You're looking creepy this evening. Nothing behind those eyes.
29:48- Oh good maybe Captain Noland and Cannonball can ham things up for us. NOT THE SILLY CARTOON PICTURE- I- I love these two. I don't know if this is what they were like in the books, but I might have to do a reread.
30:50- oh no not the fake water polo team. This poor newly wed couple is gonna come back to their room destroyed if those kids don't get under the bed quick. What that's it? We didn't even get to see if they entered the right room or not? Ugh this is frustrating, but ultimately good that I can't binge all at once because I would.
I love it. Wish that we got Garrison, Martina, and SQ back, but I love it. I need Garrison to get her revenge (unless she's been pulling the strings that whole time of course), and I need to know where SQ is right now. Curtain you monster, your son is a talent and will not be happy drawing yellow squares for the rest of his life.
help from holomags | paz viszla x pregnant!reader
word count: ~900
warnings: fem reader; no use of y/n; i’ve never been pregnant, is this how it works? ; saw a tik tok trend and now i’m soft
summary: Paz reads some advice in a holomag that will provide some relief for his pregnant riduur.
The covert has become almost unbearable. You want nothing more than to go above ground, find a nice place to take your helmet off and breathe fresh air. Paz and Armorer both say it is too dangerous, especially when there are other capable warriors to do your job in your absence.
Your chestplate doesn’t fit anymore, your pregnant belly is too large for the rigid metal. You’d worn it as long as you could, because as long as the baby was coated in beskar, it was safe for you to leave. However, that only lasted so long, and the baby would be coming any week now.
Paz had been gone a few days, wanting to get one last bounty so that the covert would be secure in funds while he stayed home for a while, but also to pick up last minute things for the baby.
You were sitting at the table, not the most comfortable chair, but the cushioned chairs were all the way in the karyai. And not only would you have to climb down to the karyai, you’d have to put the helmet on, and you just couldn’t handle any more weight.
You hear beeping outside the door, Paz punching in the code on the lock. You turn your head away from the door until it hisses shut, in case any passerbys decide to look in.
“How’re you feeling, mesh’la?” He questions as he sets down a bag of goods.
You shrug. “Heavy.”
He chuckles and bends down to your level so you can remove his helmet. With experienced hands, you make the helmet release and pull it off his head. He presses a kiss to your forehead. “I know, mesh’la. Not much longer now.”
“The baby is definitely a Vizsla,” you tell him as he starts taking off the rest of his armor. “Gonna be the biggest baby in the tribe, according to the doctor. And strong, too. Still always kicking.”
Paz smiles at you with pride. “Well, we did say we would raise warriors. Looks like we won’t have to try too hard.”
“Yeah, well I wish they’d hurry up,” you whine. “I don’t even want to wear my armor anymore. It’s too much strain on my neck and back.”
He gives you a look of pity, one you don’t like, but he can’t help it. “I’m sorry, mesh’la.” He walks back over to you, placing a large hand on your stomach. “C’mon, ad’ika. Your buir is getting cranky.”
You playfully slap his shoulder and scoff. “Whatever, Vizsla.” You caress your stomach now, “Come whenever you're ready, ad’ika. But preferably sooner than later, if that fits your schedule.”
“You know,” Paz says as he starts putting away the food he bought. “I read in a holomag that you can hold the belly up. Take some weight off.”
You smile at the idea, though not sure how much good it would be. Holomags liked to embellish the truth. “Where were you reading a holomag?”
“In line at the market, mesh’la,” he says. “Here, stand up. Let’s try it.”
He takes your hand and helps you out of the chair, and spins you around so your back is against his chest. The sheer warmth of his chest already soothes a little. You brace yourself back against him as he wraps his hands under the bump. “Ok, mesh’la, I’m just going to lift it up, ok? Tell me if it feels wrong or hurts or anything, ok?”
“Ok,” you agree. His hands start to lift the weight of your belly up, and the relief is almost instant. “Kriff,” you say.
“Is it good?”
“Maker, Paz, this is your best idea in a while,” you say.
He chuckles a little. “Kriff, mesh’la, I think I’m holding twelve pounds. I can’t believe you carry this around all day.”
“Raise your sons to be strong and your daughters to be stronger,” you quote the old saying. It has more truth now than ever.
You stand like that for a few more minutes, your head reclined back into Paz as he holds your stomach. Thank the Maker he is a strong man, you think. But eventually, he speaks. “Mesh’la, I’m going to lower your stomach now.”
You whine, cupping his hands, hoping they’ll stay there until the little one decides to enter the universe.
“Shh,” he says. “I know, but the longer I hold it, the more it’ll hurt when I finally let go.”
You reluctantly agree, knowing you’ll probably need to lie down after the weight is reintroduced to your body. He slowly brings your stomach back to its low position, wishing that he didn’t have to. He’d happily carry this weight for you, following you around all day just to be of some help.
Finally, he’s let go of your belly completely. “C’mon, mesh’la, let's get you into bed,” he coos, leading you to the low bed in the other room. He settles you in, reclining back on pillows so you can watch holovids while he makes some kind of pasta he also read about in a holomag. “Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum,” he says before he returns to the kitchen.
“Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum.”
Chapter one - Alive
“This is everything I’ve dreamed about, James! You know that this was always the plan! You knew from the moment I went to med school, through internship and residency that this is what I was going to do!”
“This wasn’t my plan, Y/N! My plan was to grow up, have a family together, not you going halfway around the world to get blown up!”
“I’m not going to get blown up, god! I’m going to be a trauma surgeon. I’m going to be serving my country, just like you and Steve did! I’ll come back, Buck!”
“Yeah.. Well, if you walk out those doors don’t bother coming back because I won’t be here waiting for you.”
Those words had echoed in Bucky’s mind since he said them. He had watched Y/N, the love of his life, walk out the door and he had told her he wouldn’t be waiting for her when she got back. That was a lie. He waited for her every second of everyday to call, to write him letters from abroad, even show up at his doorstep but that day never came and he was still stuck waiting for her 18 months later. That day was the worst day of his life. He had broken not only the heart of his best friend’s sister, but also broke himself. Y/N was the love of his life and he knew it since he met her. She had came back to live with her brother after she graduated early from a private school when she was sixteen and from the moment he met her, Bucky knew she was the one. They were like fire and ice, total opposites. Bucky was the bad boy who was always riding his too loud of a Harley in the small town and Y/N was the smart girl that graduated at the age of sixteen who had her head screwed on right except when it came to him. Y/N had stuck by Bucky when he served in the army with her brother, writing him letters every chance she could while she fast-tracked through med school. When he returned from deployment, she was the one who helped him through his PTSD even through she was a surgical intern at the time and running on no sleep.
After Y/N left, Bucky immediately regretted the words. He always had a fear of being abandoned as well as her returning as broken from a war as he was and he took that out on Y/N. He tried to get the address he could write her letters to tell her how sorry he was, but Steve wouldn’t give it to him due to the fact Y/N didn’t want to hear from Bucky after what he said. She had heard enough and broke her heart the night he told her to never come back and that’s what she planned to do. She kept stacking on more months of her deployment just to avoid him. Bucky drowned his sorrows in bottle after bottle of whiskey since his light went away. She was the fire that kept him going but now the flame seemed to be extinguished. It took a while for Steve and Bucky to get close again after Steve heard what was said, but they were best friends and always there for each other. Bucky even moved in down the street from Steve, wanting to stay close to the only family he’s known and hoping one day he would see Y/N return.
The day Steve got the call from a military official stating Y/N had been injured it seemed like time had stopped for Bucky. Their friend group was gathered for a BBQ that night. Nobody  knew the severity of the injuries, but Steve had left immediately on a plane since his sister was too unstable to travel stateside at the time. Bucky had tried multiple times to get more information on Y/N from Steve, but he never said very much. Eventually the truth came out though when Y/N was stable enough to be transferred stateside to a hospital in her home town. Y/N’s medical base where she was stationed had been attacked and raided. She had been shot in the head behind her ear, causing severe memory loss but that was better than death. It took her a while to remember who Steve was, but eventually she did. She remembered she was a talented surgeon who enlisted in the army and could remember every surgical procedure she had been trained for but not much else than that.
The day Y/N got the all clear to come home, Peggy had arranged for a welcome home party and BBQ. All of their friends were there, including Bucky. He was sitting on the porch with a beer in his hand waiting for Steve to bring Y/N home. He wanted to see if she remembered him at all, but he hoped she didn’t remember what he had told her the night she left. His head snapped up as he saw Steve’s car pull up next to his Harley in the driveway, standing quickly. He could see Y/N’s blonde hair through the tinted windows flipping around as she picked up something that had been placed by her feet. Then his heart seemed to stop when she got out of the car and he panicked, turning and walking into the house to head to the backyard before Y/N could see him.
Y/N had caught a glimpse of Bucky’s back as he walked into the house, narrowing her eyes slowly, “Who was that, Steve?” She asks looking over to her brother who was carrying a duffel bag of her belongs.
Steve had seen Bucky waiting the moment he pulled into the driveway and also watched him flee. He sighed deeply before smiling over at his sister, “That’s Bucky. He’s my best friend, you’ve known him since you were sixteen.” He told her, watching as his sister’s nose scrunched as if trying to remember, “It’s alright, take it slow. You aren’t going to remember everything in one day.”
Y/N nodded to her brother then looked at the house. She didn’t recognize it, but it looked like home to her. She followed Steve inside and looked around at everything she could, trying to remember anything in the house with no avail. She was quickly greeted by a hug from Peggy, who she recognized because Steve had shown her photos and told her stories of his wife. She walked through greeting everybody who reintroduced themselves to her. She had re-met Clint and his wife Laura as well as their kids, Sam, Tony and Pepper, Natasha and her husband Bruce. The only person she hadn’t yet been able to talk to was the man named Bucky. After finishing a burger, she walked around Steve’s house, looking at all the pictures on the wall. There were some of her with Steve and even pictures of her when she graduated from med school but then there were some of her on the back of Bucky’s Harley. The two of them were grinning ear to ear from behind dark sunglasses. Y/N finally tracked Bucky down to find him sitting on the porch of the house again. She snuck up behind him and sat down next to him, “Is there a reason you keep running from me?” She asked him.
Bucky was caught off guard with Y/N sneaking up behind him and even more surprised when she sat down next to him. He never thought he would have her this close to him again, “No… I’m sorry.” He said, looking down at the beer bottle in his hand, “It’s just been a long time since I’ve seen you.”
Y/N nodded at his words, “Yeah, well, in my mind it’s been forever since I’ve seen you. So long, in fact that I don’t even remember your name.” She joked as she smiled at him, “So reintroduce yourself, it’s only the gentleman thing to do.”
Bucky couldn’t help that his lips twisted into a curve at her words. She sounded happy and honest like she wanted to know him. He wondered what Steve had told her about him. He reached out a hand for her to shake, “Nice to meet you again, Y/N. I’m James, but you’ve been calling me Bucky since you were sixteen.” He remembered the day they met. She was sixteen and already much too smart to fall for him, but she did. Y/N would even sneak out to meet him and ride his dirt bike he had at the time into the night before he would sneak her back home.
Y/N smiled, shaking his hand, “Well, it’s very nice to meet you again, Bucky.” She released his hand and looked over to his Harley in the driveway, “Judging from the pictures on the wall inside, I’m going to assume that’s yours.”
Bucky followed her gaze to his motorcycle, nodding as he took a swig of his beer, “Yeah, that’s mine.” He knew exactly what pictures Y/N was talking about. Most of them were taken in Steve’s driveway, her sitting behind him with her arms wrapped around his waist with big smiles on both of their faces, “You helped me build her, or rebuild her I should say. You handed me the tools.” He couldn’t help but smile at the memory. It had been a quiet night of them working in his garage at his house. It ended with Bucky dirtying Y/N’s white tank top and skin with his greasy handprints.
Y/N scrunched her nose as if trying to focus on remembering the memory to no avail once again, but it sounded like it was fun so she just smiled at his words, “You’d think I’d remember that and I’m sorry I don’t. Sounds like it was fun. All I can remember now is bits and pieces of Steve and then a bunch of surgical procedures. So if you need to know how to do an appendectomy, I can help with that.” She chuckles before returning her gaze to his Harley, “Did I like it? Riding with you I mean.”
Bucky again smiled at Y/N’s comment. He remembered when he met her she told him she was going to be a surgeon and he couldn’t picture a pretty girl like her cutting people open, but she did everything she said she was going to do. When she asked the question, he froze. He didn’t know what to say but then found the perfect words without giving too much away about how he felt about her, “I’ve never seen you more alive than when you were riding with me, doll. You said it always matched the feeling of when you did surgery. I never knew what that meant.”
Y/N knew exactly what that meant. She loved being a surgeon, it exhilarated her and scared her all at the same time. That feeling when she was performing surgery was one she couldn’t forget and it made her wonder how she could forget the feeling riding on a motorcycle. She bit her lip and looked over at him, “I don’t remember…” She told him, “But maybe you can remind me.”
It took everything in Bucky not to swoop Y/N up and put her on his bike, but he couldn’t do that yet. They were practically strangers and he knew if he took her on a ride he wouldn’t be able to keep himself from saying he loved her and taking her to his home, “Some other time, I don’t think your brother would be good with taking his sister who has a brain injury on a ride right now.” He excused with a pained smile.
Y/N nodded, noticing people coming out from the backyard to leave. She gave each of them a wave before continuing, “You’re probably right.” She said looking down at her hands, “Steve treats me like I’m glass. Even meeting everybody today, they look at me like I’m going to break at any moment because I can’t remember anything. Even you ran.”
Bucky watched Y/N gaze at her hands, frowning a little at her words. She sounded defeated that everybody thought she was so helpless and breakable and he wasn’t helping, “I know you’re not glass, Y/N. You’re the smartest and strongest person I know. I’m sorry I didn’t say hello, that was a real asshat move of me.”
Y/N smiled a little at his words, looking back at him from under her dark eyelashes, “It’s okay.” She bit her lip softly before continuing, “You’re easy to talk to, Bucky. We must’ve been really close because it just comes easy to talk to you about stuff.”
Bucky swallowed hard, not knowing what to say to her. He took the last drink of his beer before setting it down beside him, finally looking over at the pretty face he had missed so much, “We were pretty close.” He admitted softly to her, “You knew everything about me and I knew everything about you. I hope one day we can get back to that point.”
Y/N smiled at him, “I think we will. I have a feeling you’re the person I’m going to be coming to when Steve is driving me nuts as older brothers do.” She chuckles a little bit, before hearing the door behind her to see Steve looking at Bucky and Y/N, “Hiya, Stevie.”
Steve’s eyes flickered between the two curiously, “Everybody’s pretty much cleared out, we were just finishing cleaning up and getting ready for bed.” He informed the two before being dragged away by Peggy back inside.
Y/N looked back over to Bucky with a smile, “Like I said, driving me nuts and treating me like glass. I have a bed time now.” She stood up, biting her lip as Bucky stood also beside her, watching her face with a smile, “I guess I’ll see you later. Don’t be a stranger, Bucky.” She said with a soft squeeze of his arm before disappearing into the house. Bucky watched her go back inside. When she was gone, he took a deep breath and ran his hand through his hair. He still felt everything for her and watching her walk away instead of coming home with him where she belonged made it feel like his heart was breaking all over again. Bucky decided in that instant that he would help Y/N remember everything she wanted and help her remember their relationship. The woman he loved was still in there and he just had to find her. He walked down to his motorcycle, straddling his legs over it and with a roar, making it come to life. He took one last look at the house where Y/N was in before zooming down the street back home.
part 2 of the ‘hey batter batter’ series
pairing: Francesco Morales (Frankie, Catfish) x reader
wordcount: 2.4k
warnings: none (yet)
summary: it’s a Triple Frontier baseball AU - trust me, you don’t need to know anything about baseball.
In this chapter, you run into the guys outside of the stadium and they promptly decide you’re going to be friends with them.
>>
Your friend was twelve minutes late. Not overly long but you could already tell what was going to happen.
It had been a long shot, anyway, an old classmate with little lasting connection. You had been trying to push yourself outside of your comfort zone anyway, why not? When she had originally reached out you’d been full of hope, enough to foolishly order your favorite appetizer as a ice breaker but the effort was in vain.
Fingernails gently clicking against the table, you caved and allowed yourself to look at your phone. It brought instant comfort, to escape the exposure of sitting alone in a restaurant, but you couldn’t stay. The air was cold as you sucked it through your teeth, weighing your options. The confidence it took to eat alone after being stood up was facing a strong competitor: your general policy not to waste good food and good money.
Shifting, you tried to settle, tried to pose yourself like you were in control, looking around the room as nonchalantly as you could. It was silly, your urge to keep moving, your feet on the ground, your hands on the table, your eyes on the other patrons, but you couldn’t help it. It was a nice place, nothing fancy, just a hole in the wall restaurant, filled only with a few locals.
Until your appetizer came around the corner, followed by a much more handsome man than you were prepared for.
His already smiling eyes met yours, and you looked away, startled, maybe blushing a little. He was familiar, too familiar. You tried to focus on the young lady waiting on you, and the steam coming from the plate in her hands.
Just focus on the food, you scolded yourself silently, thanking her and not ordering anything else. He was not your friend, he didn’t even know you, really. There was no need to make him feel uncomfortable.
Except, he wasn’t really worried about that, because he was sliding into the seat across from you.
“Hi,” he was grinning, confident and friendly, and your instincts raised no alarms other than confusion.
“Hello,” you replied, wondering honestly if you were dreaming. This was one of the men you’d met before, in that chaotic, over decorated room in the baseball stadium. He had been in front of you maybe fifteen total seconds, talking to James, before melting back into the sea of uniforms and caps. There was no reason he should remember you much less… be doing whatever was happening now.
The man mistook your expression for panicked forgetfulness and reintroduced himself.
“I’m Ben, Ben Miller? We met a a week or two ago,” he was searching your face for recognition, which of course was not the problem at all. It was sweet, how bashful he was when he pointed to the picture of the team’s logo on the poster by your table, and mouthed “the shortstop?”.
It seemed like he wasn’t trying to draw extra attention to himself, which was almost comical. Even with his casual tshirt and jeans he was easily the most noticeable person in the room – that’s how good he looked, and a testament to the visible confidence of men like him. He was all limber muscles and strong jaw and kind eyes and it wasn’t easy to just tuck that away.
“I – yeah,” this was awkward. “I’m sorry for staring at you, I just don’t normally see … non-locals here.” You smiled, weakly.
There was something in his voice and a glint in his eyes as his blue eyes glanced behind you.
“Would you believe it if I said we were locals?”
All of a sudden his looks were commonplace, because there was another man next to him who was a little broader and a little rougher around the edges- but surprisingly similar in casual masculinity. The “we" clicked into place.
“What’s this?” the first-baseman said, his expression more or less mirroring your own.
A handful of other men followed him and you wanted to melt into the chair. It was too much, too weird. They were all peering at you, dark eyebrows and cool toned cloth stretched over broad chests and it was the most bizarre thing. You weren’t really shy, per se, but stuff like this didn’t happen to you. Fidgeting you stared back at them, feeling helpless.
Ben came to your rescue again, guilty, but far too friendly to stop, like runaway dog at a park.
“I was just telling her that Will and I are from town! And we love it here,” he grinned, winningly, still failing to explain why he was seated with you.
Their hellos were amused and charismatic, for the most part, save the man in the back. It was… Francisco. Or rather, Mr. Morales.
Your heart thumped the same thump that you’d been feeling whenever you thought of him.
His voice was quieter, eyes reaching into yours like he had questions to ask, before he fixed them on the surroundings instead. They were crowding the area, all tall and much to large to fit in between tables. It would have been annoying if this were a busier place.
“You guys go on, I’ll be right there,” the shortstop across from you ushered them away, out of politeness or something else you weren’t sure. It was sad, to see him go again but the absence of attention made you breathe again. You waved, sure you looked ridiculous, and wondering if other women would be dying to be in your stead.
“Sorry, I just wanted to say hi,” Ben seemed earnest again, and you couldn’t help but relax. It was charming, the way his eyebrows dipped and he fidgeted, just a little. “You looked… lonely,” he added, hesitating before standing up with a gentle slap to the table. “Come join us if they don’t show, I’m sure the guys wont mind!”
You nodded, still more or less in shock, and he walked off, strides long and easy, like there was hardly anything weighing on his shoulders.
If they hadn’t been but 20 paces away, you would have shoved the plate aside and replaced its spot on the table with your face, and groaned aloud. You barely registered your food as you ate, wondering at the whole thing in awe as you took out your phone again to text James.
-
Frankie tried not to watch you. He really did. He loved his friends and they seldom got a chance, just the five of them to eat somewhere so homey and casual, without the whole crew, or fans and cameras, or other things to attend to. They’d been close for a long time, happy they enjoyed one another and trusted one another more than the rest of the team. It was what made them so good in the starting lineup – their communication and comradery off field translated into their game.
For awhile he was doing well. He wasn’t watching as you finished your food, hardly noticed the way your hands ran through your hair, barely registered when you stood up, brushing crumbs off your legs, and walked towards the front to pay.
But he did notice when you slid over to their table and… he couldn’t tear his eyes away as your hand touched Benny's shoulder. The movement was smooth and gentle and there was a sharp feeling in his gut.
“Thanks for before,” your voice was quite, more composed than before, now that your feet were under you properly. It wasn’t meant for him, wasn’t his to hear, but he listened anyway. The group was seated at one of those round corner booths, and really, there was no escaping it – they were on the ends.
Benny was saying no problem and Frankie took a long sip of his drink trying to cool down before he was choking on it as his friend invited you to join.
The idea of you sitting here was… a double edged sword. On one side, the chance to talk to you, be around you even in the low lights of the restaurant neons – was too good to be true. His daydreams of you hadn’t slowed down nearly as much as he had hoped after you were gone. And on the other… of all the men here, he didn’t stand much of a chance. The flicker of warmth your little wave had given him began to fade and he tried too late to get in control of his facial expressions as you considered the offer.
When Redfly reached across Ben, though, shoving the younger man to grab your hand, suppressing the growl in his throat was more important than the glare. Next to him, Pope eyes were sharp, catching everything unsaid. His friend was as tense as he was, feeling the charged energy fill the booth.
Some ridiculous part of Frankie was wanting to pull you away, tuck you under his arm, and keep you all to himself. But he couldn’t, wouldn’t, shouldn’t. He didn’t even know your name.
Then Will was pulling Tom back with laughter that didn't reach his eyes and Santi was apologizing, saying smooth words and coaxing you to reintrodunce yourself and pull up a chair and hang out.
Frankie would never know how Pope was so good at these things, how his passion made other people relent and reconsider and made them feel safe, but he was grateful for it. He tucked your name away, sure he wouldn’t forget it again. Especially because you pulled your chair up by him, and his heart swelled with something akin to pride as you leaned towards him, more than even Ben.
It could have been politeness, making room for the waitress, it could have been a coincidence, or that you wanted to be further from Tom, but he could quite bring himself to care. Having you close felt good, so much better than it should’ve, given the circumstances.
Even more than normal athletes, the Miller boys ate like they were hollow, and had ordered enough food for a week. There was plenty of talk and teasing and tossing of rolls, and it took you no time at all to settle in.
You found out you had some mutual acquaintances with Will, which helped, as you launched into comparisons of the town and laughed over shared observations. It made you feel at home, with him and Ben, and you understood how the brothers made everyone feel like family. Apparently there was girl Benny liked, who worked with the team’s athletic trainers. None of the boys had wheeled it out of him, but it took you less than fifteen minutes, your smile brighter as you sorted through his intentions.
Santi had a quick tongue, and you matched it. There was respect in his eyes as you leveled with Redfly, efficiently and effectively putting him back in his place. The older man head leaned back, nonchalantly, with raised eyebrows and low whistle, but Pope knew when Tom was embarrassed. There was an almost indiscernible bite onto the inside of the outfielder’s lower lip, a child’s tell.
He watched everyone, really, especially Frankie. They’d been playing together the longest and saw the best and worst of each other. It was fun, for him to watch his friend watch you. When you puckered your lips to suck a bead of water off your finger, Frankie’s jaw twitched. Like he was thinking of tilting his cheek towards you as you leaned in to kiss it – and Santi grinned, the gears in his mind turning.
For being as confused and awkward as you were before, it was crazy how well you fit.
Frankie liked your laugh, easy and pure, and the glint in your eyes when someone said something clever. He liked how friendly you were, even to Tom, and how you treated them like people. You never once stepped into the role of flirtatiously asking about the sport – or about being professional athletes all, and it was a breath of fresh air. Most outsiders would have their fingers tracing the curves of the muscles on Pope's arm as they asked him about pitching or would be tugging down the necklines of their shirts as they tried to be subtle about salaries. He liked how you talked about the food, asked them what they were up to that day, and actually listened when they answered. It was graceful, more that even Ironhead’s throw, how you managed to give each one of them attention, without controlling the conversation.
What Frankie liked best of all, though, was when yours eyes would meet his. They were narrow with laughter, and it was almost as if he were an hour away from know exactly what you were thinking. You’d lean towards him, just a hair, and under the thrum of conversations you would tell him little things, jokes or confessions like you were the best of friends.
When you murmured, “I actually don’t know anything about baseball,” he choked on his drink again, mind filled with unreachable moments. The boys were laughing at him, but he ignored it because they hadn’t heard you and... he could almost feel it – you against his chest as he showed how to swing a bat, your hand in his as he leaned in close, explaining, and him spinning you around in a victory hug.
All too soon the plates were being cleared and everyone was arguing over who should be paying. It made them smile, how earnestly you were offering, but there was no way in hell.
You thanked them all verbally, but when Santi ended up paying, he got a quick peck on the cheek and that sharp feeling in Frankie’s gut returned with force.
As you left, before they could walk you out, you cherished the experience like a drop of honey on your tongue, confident this was a once in a life time thing, and excited to tell James about it. Of course you had texted him – he was the one who told you if you didn’t sit with them he’d never forgive you.
Then men behind you continued to talk, each silently thinking of their own reasons for being sure they’d see you again soon.
And when you walked past the window by the corner on the way to your car, a pair of deep brown eyes found yours through the glass. You waved, goodbye, and this time, the ache in your heart was aligned with the ache in his.
Thank goodness that old classmate never showed up.
