I know there's so much going wrong in the world right now that Christmas was already going to be dark, but my mom just found out a little bit ago that her cousin's wife and 2 of their kids were hit head on by a drunk driver on their way to church this morning. The wife died on impact, and the 2 kids were airlifted to the hospital. I was too young and they were too far from where we live for me to really know them, but my mom knew them well. My mom and the wife both had non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and managed to survive. Christmas Eve and one man making a stupid decision ruined Christmas for huge parts of my family; there are a lot of us.
Don't drink and drive. Please. Don't steal people from their families.
#they were our pastors when I was little but then they moved away#we did a vacation with them one time that was really fun and Cheryl was really nice#our poor cousin Ricky was already at church (I assume he's the pastor there but idk) and they were driving to meet him#there are more than 2 kids too some are around my age and some I think are still teenagers#my mom is just devastated I don't know what tonight will be like when we meet for our Christmas Eve party#or tomorrow when we go to our grandma's for Christmas dinner#it's just my moms parents and her sister's families but it'll still be a very weird thing to experience

TPN Brainrots part 1:
Another TPN manga panel redraw, but this time everyone goes down with me (because it's sad).
Also part one of my 'wonderful' tpn theories and head canons. It'll be long😅. There will be manga spoilers so please, read at your own risk😊.
First character I go through is... Ray.
He is one of the most complicated characters I ever saw (all tpn characters are, tbh). I always thought that people who have photographic memory are so lucky. Ray showed me that it's both a blessing and the curse.
Like in the picture above. You can clearly see that the first 2 kid waving at his direction. It's strange to know that there was a time when the Trio were one of the young kids and not the older ones. My first head canon is that Ray tried to save more kids, not just Emma and Norman when he was younger. When the blond haired boy leaves (first panel) he looks like he is about to cry (also the Trio is around 4 or 6) but when the other kids get 'adopted' Ray keeps his head low most of the frames (I'm convinced that when the second kid left he was already working as Isabella's spy.)
Ray coloration explained:
Purple eyes are self explanatory to me. I started draw him with purple eyes as soon as I found out he is Isabella's son. Purple in the hair and freckles? Well... I'm still very, very convinced that Leslie didn't die (at least not when he left the House). I always think about his situation, like what Norman got into with Lambda. The Ratri-clan is big but they need outsiders, to be soldiers, scientists, etc. And since girls from the Houses can only become Sisters and Moms... maybe some boys can become scientists and soldiers. (I can't believe I'm writing this but think about Andrew🤢... he was 100% not Ratri yet he could become an adult). So by this logic I believe Leslie could grow up too and (because I'm a sucker for happiness) he met Isabella again at some point.
Ray turning away:
On the second frame he is not looking at the girl who is leaving, but to the opposite direction. Why? Notice something else? Yes, Norman is missing too. Gilda has her winter jumper on so I figure Norman got sick again. Ray priorities his friends safety over everything else.
Also notice how Emma and Norman slowly get into the middle of the frame while Mom/Isabella get out of it? Pretty strong metaphor. It's the perfect example of 'Blood related family ≠ real family'. And while I'm a RayEmma shipper (obviously aged up version) I would never forget about Norman. He is as important to Ray as Emma. This Trio sticks together no matter what.
(older manga colouring ⬇️)
Now onto the hearth breaking stuff:
Ray's relationship with Isabella:
This deleted scene with Ray and Ayshe lives rent free in my head. Like there are two people with similar family situations and the one who lived int the middle of nowhere with a demon parent thinks positively about their parent, while the other, who grew up in a comfortable home like space with a human parent, thinks the opposite.
"But to me, she was always a monster"– Ray.
Like ufff... This sentence hits real hard. And it's low-key true from Ray perspective. He studied and read all the books in the House, not because he was interested, but because he had to. Norman is a genius, Emma learns real fast, Ray does everything he can to always get max points on his tests. But he also secretly planning his friends excape. Collects scraps of technology to build the device which makes them able to excape, plans his own 💀 carefully, so no one else will get hurt and on a top of that he is 'spying' for Isabella. Sacrifices people he wanted to protect. I can't imagine that inside panic when he didn't get max scores to that one test. I'm sure he was happy because Norman and Emma got their regular scores, but deep down he felt like he failed.
My head canon here is that Ray always gets nightmares if he is alone or in an unsafe place. And 'thanks' to his perfect memory his nightmares build up from actual memories (like we see that in the Seven Wall Arc). Also he doesn't get sick often but when he does... it's like a memory fuelled fever dream, with hallucinations and etc.
Ray's healing journey starts after the Jailbreak Arc. As soon as Mom is not around anymore, he ever so slowly starts to let down his guard and starts to show more and more emotions. His relationship with Yuugo/Mister is like a greatest archivment in his case. The playful, sarcastic 'arguments' and the way he openly said his opinion on things in front of Yuugo and Lucas. Shows how much he changed and opened up.
Isabella on the other hand... her change of heart and feelings were a mistery almost to the very end. To be honest I hated her most of the time, until the Back to Grace Field Arc. (Older manga colouring again⬇️😅)
Two things in this page which are very important.
1: Ray's guard is up again in no time, when he sees Isabella, while her emotionless mask is cracking. This is the first time we get a little inside of how she really feels about Ray.
2: Flashback of the two most important things that connects them. The song and the way they were forced to sacrifice others to stay alive.
The lullaby is very important, because it's calming and feels very intimate (like a normal parent-child relationship should be).
You also can't convince me otherwise that Ray didn't hummed this lullaby at least once in the B06-32 shelter to help the youngest kids fall asleep.
And now... onto the last picture. Their goodbye.
Saddest part ever! Never forgiving for this decision.
Ray and Isabella were never allowed to talk even two short sentences with each other without any consequences. In the House they had to play their assigned roles. Then they didn't see each other for almost 2 years. Finally they had to save half of the team from getting unalived... And they moment they would have time the last twist happens... leaving us with a sad ending.
Epilogue and Human World Arc...does little to compensate. Although I can't get over the fact that Yuugo's, Conny's and Isabella's 'ghosts' helped Ray found Emma in the Human World.
Speaking of finding Emma. My last head canon for Ray is the following;
When they found out that Emma lost all of her memories from the Demon World. Ray couldn't help himself but whisper a "I wish this happened to me". And everyone looks at him with an understanding smile thinking he blames himself for this... But in reality he really just selfishly thought (only for seconds) that he could forget everything happened on the other side.
Okay. That's all. Sorry for the supper long post and I'm forever thankful if you read through my brainrots 🥰😘. Also let me know if I should cover more characters like this. I'll obviously do Emma and Norman but if there any other characters you want to see please let me know🥰🤩💖.

Merry Christmas
(Ray x Female Reader)
(I promise the gif is relevant 😅)
Here's a little Christmas fic involving Ray and his family on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas, everyone!
Also here on Ao3
SFW, under the cut for length
The apartment was quiet. Too quiet for what morning it was, but it wouldn't stay that way. Which is why you and Ray were trying to get as much sleep as you possibly could until the inevitable.
Which came at 9:30 on the dot with the shouting of “Mom! Dad! Santa's been here!” followed by a tackle rivaling that of a linebacker. Ray grunted upon the impact of his seven-year-old son.
“Wish Santa would have gifted us another five minutes,” Ray grumbled. He then patted Danny's back. “Go on and get your sister. We'll be there in a minute.”
“Okay!” Danny exclaimed, taking off out of the room.
“Don't you wish we had that much energy?” you asked, snuggling closer to Ray, basking in his warmth for a little longer. “You know he's been awake since at least seven.”
“What time is it?” Ray asked, rubbing a hand across his face.
You lifted your head to look at the clock. “9:30. So we only got about five hours of sleep.”
He sighed. “I can't help that it took so long to put that playhouse together.”
You kissed his jaw. “It'll be worth it. Katie will love it.”
“Mm, yeah…” He then kissed your forehead. “Alright, it's showtime. I'll go get the camera.”
You rolled off of him and watched him get up, admiring how his sleep pants fit him before following. Ray yawned and shuffled out of the bedroom, running a hand through his hair as you hurried into the living room. A few seconds later, you heard the sound of running feet followed by gasps of delight as Danny and Katie beheld their presents.
Ray appeared at your elbow, video camera in hand, recording their reactions. The pair of you exchanged smiles at your kids' elation. Katie immediately went up to the playhouse while Danny made a beeline for the leftover milk and cookies, along with the note they'd left for Santa.
“Santa wrote back!” he exclaimed, hurrying over to show you and Ray.
You smiled down at the note, the top half written by Danny and the lower half written by Santa—Ray's neatest hand.
“What did he say?” you asked.
“It says: Dear Danny and Katie. Thank you so much for the milk and cookies! I made sure to leave you some cookies this time for the both of you to enjoy when you open your presents. As always, you've been such good kids this year! Have a very merry Christmas! Love, Santa.”
Danny immediately returned to the plate with two cookies left on it, grabbing one for himself and handing the other to Katie.
“Good idea on that,” Ray murmured to you.
“It's how my parents used to do it. It was always a treat to have a cookie on Christmas morning.”
The gift unwrapping went on for nearly twenty minutes, as each gift unwrapped warranted immediate play for a few minutes before curiosity got the better of Danny and Katie. You and Ray watched with smiles as Danny occasionally stopped with his own presents to help Katie open one of hers.
Katie then got to one of her surprise gifts, one Ray had been anxious about. But the delighted gasp as she tore the paper away made Ray visibly relax.
“A train set!” she exclaimed. She looked up at Ray. “Look, Daddy, a train set! Just like the one we saw at the store!”
Ray beamed. “I guess Santa realized you'd probably like it.”
Katie looked back at the box, still smiling ear to ear. “I love it!”
Danny knelt next to Katie. “Come on, open it!”
You affectionately squeezed Ray's arm. “See? I told you you had nothing to worry about.”
“I'm just happy my childhood love of trains passed on to one of them. I mean, both of them dressing up as Ghostbusters for Halloween is cute and all, and I wouldn't trade that for the world, but that was my job. This is something a kid can really enjoy.”
Between the two of them, Katie and Danny already had half the track laid out. Katie was holding the train, flipping the little switch on the side, but nothing was happening.
“Daddy, I can't get it to work.”
“Here, sweetie, let me see,” Ray said, handing the camera off to you and moving to sit on the floor with them.
Katie crawled into Ray's lap and watched intently as he worked to get the train running. Danny was hanging over Ray's shoulder, also watching. You took in the scene with a warm smile on your face. This was bliss. This was everything you wanted and more.
Ray seemed to sense you watching and looked up, giving you that smile of his that you loved so much, the one he reserved only for you. And now you had it caught on camera. All of them together…
Your wonderful family…
***
About an hour later, Ray stood at the sink in the kitchen, washing the mug and plate they'd used for the milk and cookies, when he felt you come up behind him, pressing up against his back, your hands on his ass, and your lips on his neck.
“And here's my Christmas present,” you murmured against his neck, smiling and giving his ass a squeeze. “Seriously, Ray, have I told you how damn good you look in these sleep pants?”
Ray chuckled. “A few times, but I don't mind hearing it again.” He dried his hands and turned to face you, wrapping his arms securely around you. “I guess I should thank the person who gave me these. It's almost like she knew exactly what to get me.”
“Mm, she must have very good taste. I shouldn't be jealous, should I?”
“I am rather in love with her… And she's been my best friend for years. I can't imagine my life without her.”
It pleased him that he still had the ability to make you blush. “Ray…”
He grinned and kissed your cheek. “She's the love of my life.” He kissed your other cheek. “And my wife.” He now pecked your lips. “And the mother of our two beautiful children.”
“Then maybe you should be jealous, too,” you murmured, wrapping your arms around his neck. “I'm married to the most wonderful man, husband, and father… He's been my best friend for years, too, and we'll be best friends for years and years to come. I'm not ever going to let him go.”
Ray touched his nose to yours, feeling tears prick his eyes. “He's never going to let you go either.”
With that, he sealed his lips over yours, kissing you soundly and with such passion and love that he hoped it made your knees weak. He hoped to still have that effect on you as well.
“I love you, sweetheart,” he murmured against your lips after a moment.
“I love you, too, Raymond,” you sighed, obviously in love.
He just started to kiss you again when a chorus of “ew’s” sounded from the doorway. You both looked over to see Danny and Katie standing there, watching you two.
“I thought you two were getting ready to go to Uncle Pete's and Aunt Dana's,” Ray said.
The kids giggled and ran away. Ray shook his head, looking back at you, his hand coming to rest on your still-flat lower abdomen.
“You sure we're ready for another one?”
“We better be because it's happening.”
He nodded, smiling and leaning his forehead against yours. “I know, and I can't wait. I never realized just how fulfilling having a family could be until I met you. I know this may sound sappy, but… You and the kids? The best and only gifts I ever want.”
“Oh, Ray…” you whispered, getting misty-eyed. “You mean that?”
He lifted a hand to caress your cheek. “Of course I do. You know that.”
“Just like you know, you and the kids are the best and only gifts I ever want.” You kissed him softly. “I love you so much, Ray. You’ve given me everything I’ve ever wanted and more. Merry Christmas.”
He grinned, nuzzling your nose with his. “Merry Christmas, sweetheart.”
***
“Alright, troops! Line up for inspection!”
You walked into the hallway, burdened down with everyone’s coats, and smiled when you saw Ray adjusting Danny’s tie. Danny was nearly leaning back with how straight he was standing.
“There you go,” Ray said. “And at least keep the tie on through lunch. After that, give it to your mom or me so we don’t lose it like last year at Uncle Egon’s.”
“But Aunt Janine found it over the summer!”
Ray nodded. “Yes. In the freezer. Behind what was left of the stuffing.”
Danny barely suppressed his laughter. “I wonder how it got there?”
“I wonder. But it won’t happen this year, right?”
Danny nodded and took his coat you were handing him. Ray then knelt in front of Katie.
“And is my little princess ready?” he asked.
Katie nodded. “Yes, Daddy.”
He looked at the big bag she had sitting next to her and smiled. “And I see you have all of your presents with you that you want to show Oscar?”
“Except the playhouse. It was too big.”
Ray glanced up at you, exchanging smiles. “Well, we’ll invite Oscar over sometime soon to play; how about that?”
“Can Callie come, too?” Danny interjected.
“I’ll talk to Aunt Janine about it,” you said. “Now, come on, you two! Let’s go load up the car!”
Ray stood and took the proffered coat from you. “Winston said he and Tiyah will be here this year.”
“Oh, good! I missed them last year,” you replied.
“Also, Winston hinted that you won’t be the only one with a big announcement today…”
A grin overtook your features. “They’re expecting again!”
Ray nodded. “Yep. Due date’s around the same time as yours.”
You grabbed Ray’s arm. “You know what this means, don’t you? Joint birthday parties! Oh, I’m so excited for them! They’ll catch up to us at this rate…”
“Sweetheart,” Ray said, smiling and wrapping his arm around you to get your attention. “Why don’t we all make the announcements first before we start planning birthday parties?”
“I’m sorry… It’s this time of year! It makes me so… happy.”
His smile softened. “I know, and I’m glad it does. Here, I’ll help Katie with her coat, you go grab the food, and we’ll head out.”
You nodded and handed Ray the coat. “Right. First thing’s first.”
You returned to the kitchen to grab the two dishes you were taking to lunch. You intended to carry them yourself, but Ray took one from you as you passed by him, tucking it under his arm and locking the front door behind you.
“That potato salad is one of my favorite things you make,” he said, nodding to the bowl you were holding.
“You know, sometimes I think you're just with me for my potato salad,” you commented, making a face at him.
Ray shook his head. “Not true. It's so much more than that.” He started to turn away, lifting up the dish he was holding. “It's for your corn casserole, too.”
You stared after him in mock indignation. “Raymond Stantz!”
He looked over his shoulder at you, grinning. “Mrs. Stantz?”
You walked up behind him, subtly grabbing his ass. “It's a good thing I love your ass,” you muttered only loud enough for him to hear.
“Sometimes I think you're just with me for my ass,” Ray lamented in a teasing tone.
“Came for your ass, stayed for your personality.”
He chuckled, wrapping his free arm around your waist and pulling you to him. “Good answer.”
He kissed you again. It was so easy to get lost in his kisses, even after all this time.
“If we’re late, can I tell Uncle Pete it’s because you two couldn’t stop kissing?” Danny asked from the elevator.
“We won't be late!” Ray called, slipping his hand into yours and lacing your fingers together. He then smiled at you. “I'll make it up to you later.”
You grinned back. “I'm counting on it.”

imo there is something to be said for how Lip is consistently placed in the position of protector/parent. Obviously we see him take care of all his younger siblings, especially Liam. But beyond that from very, very early on in the show we see him have a strong vested interest in protecting kids, like when Karen is going to give the baby up for adoption; "Now, uh, do you check the, uh, families for, you know, um, alcohol and drug abuse? Make sure they have enough income to feed it and stuff?", "But they're still good families right? You make sure they're going to decent parents?"(s2.8)
Or in s3.4 when he convinces Mandy to help him rescue her half-sister, Molly. "She sounded desperate. Let's see if we could get her, let's see if we could help." and "If she ran, it was probably for a good reason, no?"(s3.6). Of course there's the entirety of season 4, where he's not only willing to drop out of college to look after Liam but then is afraid to even let Liam out of his sight for almost the rest of the season. And then, obviously, there's Xan in season 8 & 9, a complete stranger but still a kid in need who he then helps without question. He also gives Xan and her mom ten thousand dollars.
Also in s4 (sorry just a really good Lip season in general), it's Lip who realizes something is wrong with Ian and goes looking for him (s4.5) and then it's Lip who takes care of Fiona after she breaks parole (s4.10). On top of which, the only reason Lip is even going to college, despite vocally saying he doesn't want to numerous times, is because it'll help his family if he gets a good job; "Except the little ones Debbie, and- and Carl, and- and Liam, and, my sister Fiona. I could be there for them but I'm not. You know, 'cause I'm here. 'cause I'm told that, that's something I could do for those kids, in a big way, in a real way.' (s5.8)
This perception that Lip both doesn't care about Fiona (or the rest of his family) and doesn't do anything for them is such a misconception. Obviously, there's everything he does to help in s4, from picking up Fiona in Wisconsin to stealing food and cooking dinner every night, but there's how he does try to help Ian, like in s7.3 when he convinces Ian to take his meds. Or in s9.6 when he does a gig as a sober coach to get Ian money for his commissary account in prison. And, then, of course there's how Lip is the reason Fiona goes to AA in s9, both by convincing V to not enable Fiona, "What kind of friend do you want to be? The kind that sees her drunk at the Alibi every morning?" and also by telling Fiona, "Get to a meeting."(s9.12).
I think it's also worth mentioning that Lip only kicks Fiona out once she starts being a danger to the kids in the house, "I'm not letting you stay here! Not with Franny, and not with Liam. No fucking way."(s9.12) Keep in mind, the previous episode he had to body block Fiona to keep her from yelling around and at Xan.
It's just such a wild misreading of the text that Lip is callous or selfish in regards to his family, and especially in the context of Fiona and their relationship. When people say that Fiona always took care of Lip and he never gave anything in return, or that he pushed her to take care of their whole family and never stepped up, I think they're just willingly choosing which parts of the show to engage with and which to ignore.
Obviously there's the age gap, she's 5 years older, (in s8 Lip says he's 23 and Fiona says she's 28) so I'm not sure how much you guys wanted a 4 year old to pitch in when you bring up what she was doing at 9. But beyond that, when Lip got old enough to help, he did. We see him helping throughout the show, we see him stepping up and caring for everyone including Fiona. And it's not just Fiona he was helping, he did Kev and V's taxes, he was the one who came up for the plan to keep Debbie out of jail in s1 when she stole the baby. He helps JimmySteve throughout season 1-3.
And at the exact same time, Lip ends up having to solve most of his problems on his own or he just never brings them to Fiona in the first place. When she does find out he has something going on, her advice usually boils down to telling him to fix it; "So what are you going to do?"(s2.5) "Make it right with Ian."(s2.6) "You want to piss away every single chance you get, including this job, that's your business but don't drag me into it."(s7.10) It's also interesting how in her big "I was nine" speech in s7.12, Lip is the only one she doesn't mention.
Honestly the only character we see actually looking after Lip during his struggles with alcoholism is Debbie throughout s6 and 7. ("I don't want you to end up like Frank" being the reason he goes to rehab, "Do you need us to hide the beer?", "He's trying to get sober Frank!", and of course her confronting him in s7.11 when she finds out he's been drinking and makes sure he's going to a meeting.)
I wanna make it really, really clear that I'm not blaming Fiona or anything other character. I honestly think it's actually really compelling story telling that Lip is the sibling Fiona has a completely different dynamic with and that he's the one she consistently leans on. Not to mention, Lip clearly struggles to accept help and is pretty closed off emotionally. (Almost every big scene we see regarding their family he shuts down and goes silent.) But! I do think there's just this wild misconception with Lip's character that he's ungrateful, selfish, and uncaring towards his family. Yes he's prickly and rude and arrogant, but he's also incredibly caring and that's been a consistent character trait since day 1.
#lip gallagher#Shameless#shameless us#:v#this one kind of got away from me I just have a lot to say.#also lip loosing trust in Fiona after s4 is my roman empire#like can you imagine the one person you've been able to trust your entire life#becomes the exact thing she's spent her entire life protecting you guys from#I'd kill myself I'm sorry that's miserable#of course he took Liam like are you kidding me 😭#Ignore typos I'm not rereading all of that rn#also like obvs u guys can respond if u disagree I love talking and debating media interpretation#Just don't be fucking rude#I will block u

A Hole In A Shoe
Steve Murphy x Murphy!F!Reader (Murphy Sister Reader from this fic) Javi Peña x Murphy!F!Reader A/N: The way I started this August Challenge with this crew and just expected it to be a stand alone one shot..lol. This is just the next installment, have one more written and who knows where it'll go! lol. Word Count: 2.2k Warnings: Drunk, drinking, mentions of exes and proposals, trashing of apartments (could be considered semi-abusive relationship), cursing. Narcos Taglist: @drabbles-mc @justreblogginfics @narcolini
“I need you to pick me up.” Your voice slurred into the payphone in the bar.
“It’s like 12:30 in the morning over there.” Steve’s voice was raspy. He wiped his eyes in an attempt to wake up and process you on the other line.
“Okay well, the bartender took my keys so it’s either I walk back to my hotel on the fuckin’ highway or you come and get me because you’re the only person I know in Miami.”
Steve let out a sigh. “I’m not in Miami, kid.”
If you weren’t drunk you would have clocked the stress in his voice, maybe even have realized he was stressfully rubbing his temples with his hand as his arm rested on his knee but you were blissfully unaware.
“Okay sorry, I forgot that your house is in Hialeah, same shit though, can you just get me.” You let out a hiccup at the end of your sentence.
“No, I’m back in Colombia.”
Now you heard the stress in his voice.
“I literally just saw you.” You were confused, and despite being drunk this was something that would have thrown you for a loop regardless.
“Yea, I got called back in last minute and figured since I dropped you off at the airport this morning, I didn’t need to update you yet. Which– why aren’t you home? Why are you still in Miami?”
Fuck. You didn’t think that part through.
“I canceled my flight.” You said in a whisper worried about his response.
“The one I paid for?” Steve was now fully awake.
“Scheduled it for later.” You danced around the topic.
“How later?” Steve’s voice just got more annoyed.
“A month from now.”
“Jesus Christ.” Steve was now standing up in his small apartment in Colombia, moving towards his dresser like he was able to just get dressed and come down to pick you up.
As he approached the dresser he saw the picture of him and his family tucked behind the wood and in front of the mirror. The photo included 5 of you. Your mom, your dad, Steve, you and Connie. You were snugged up next to her, Connie had become a close friend to you, Steve was happy about that, with all the issues your parents caused regarding his job, the last thing he needed was more drama. But that was who you were, you were kind, you were easy going, you were annoying but all out of good reason.
What would Connie do?
That was the thought running through Steve’s head. He wanted to reprimand you but he knew she would have cut you slack. Figured out what was really going on.
“Why’d you do that?” His voice was trying, there was still frustration there but he was trying to understand.
“I don’t think I can go home.” You were now starting to get teary eyed and crying in a bar in Miami at 12:30AM was not on your to-do list.
“I thought you hated Miami?” Steve questioned, still staring at the picture of him and his family.
“Not as much as I hate New York, I guess.” You sniffled, making sure your tears didn’t make it down your cheek.
Steve knew exactly what you were talking about, he didn’t need to ask. It was a guy. Not just any guy, but the guy who had proposed to you, the guy you told no and decided to trash your apartment. There was likely more details there that Steve wasn’t privy too, but he didn’t need to know anything more.
“Let me call you a ride.” Steve was now thinking of what to do in this very moment for you. “You can stay at my place for the time being, the keys inside the flower box on the left side.”
“I don’t think I’ll remember that.” You chuckled closing your eyes and resting it against the wall the payphone was attached to.
“I’ll call you at the hotel tomorrow. Let me get you a ride. Where are you?” Steve smiled.
“Better Days Bar.”
“Fitting.” Steve actually let out a laugh this time. “Alright, drink some water, I’ll have a ride for you in 30 minutes.”
“Thanks big brother.” You let out a sigh as the relief left your body.
You didn’t realize who your brother was sending. You figured he’d call you a cab, call the hotel’s car service, maybe even one of Connie’s friends, but not Javier Peña. If you had known, maybe you wouldn’t have convinced the bartender to keep serving you.
The alcohol now had you dancing, luckily you were still a good few minutes away from getting up on the bar and you’d take that win right now.
As your name rolled off his tongue you froze, you knew the voice, even only having heard it once. As you turned, you smiled, taking the embarrassment with stride.
“Care for a drink, Peña?”
“Think I’m supposed to be your DD.” He smirked.
Fuck, had you not noticed that smirk before? No, you did, the alcohol in your system was just making the thought a lot less harder to push aside.
Somehow you agreed to walk out of the bar with him. But you weren’t just ready to get in the car you assumed he rented during his time down in Miami. At some point you made a break for the beach which was right across from the bar. You weren’t sure how Steve did it, beaches and bars within walking distance? It was a dream. Maybe Miami wasn’t so bad after all.
Javi caught up with you, calling after you in a flustered panic. The last thing he needed was to lose you or accidentally let you drown in the ocean. Neither was going to be the conversation he wanted to have with Steve.
Just as Javi reached you, your body lost all balance, it didn’t help that the sand was tough to navigate even for a person who didn’t have practically the entirety of a tequila bottle in their system. Javi caught you, his arms quick to wrap around you and steady you.
“It’s these damn shoes.” You looked down to your feet, Javi still holding you in his grip. You let out a gasp which caused Javi to hold you tighter and look down where your gaze was. He was expecting to see a broken bone, blood, something from the stumble but was left confused when he saw nothing.
“There’s a hole in my shoe.” You lifted your leg up and shook it in the air.
“Yea, they’re sandals.” He stood behind you now, arms still steadying you, his eyes frowning at your comment.
“Oh.” You let out a hiccup, you were really drunk, those last few drinks after your call to Steve really putting you over the edge.
Javi plopped you down on the sand and took a seat next to you. He knew there was no chance of getting you back to the car right now, so he’d just chat with you until you sobered up just enough to want to go home.
“Why are you here?” You turned to him, eyes glossy staring at him.
He was reaching in his pocket for a smoke, bringing it up to his mouth before answering making his voice muffled. “Steve called me.”
“I know that. I mean in Miami. You didn’t get called down last minute.” You dug your sandals into the sand.
“Steve didn’t get called down, he volunteered. I enjoy my vacation time.” Javi immediately regretted sharing that piece of information. He didn’t know how you were going to take it and if it was going to be taken badly, he hoped you’d be too drunk to remember tomorrow.
“Kid can’t sit still.” You shook your head, not mad or honestly shocked.
“Kid?” Javi raised his eyebrows and let out a chuckle that exhaled smoke out of his mouth.
“It’s what he calls me.” You laughed back.
“Why are you here?” Javi asked, hoping the conversation would sober you up as time went by.
“Don’t really feel like going home.” You shook your head, thinking about New York made you want to throw up.
“What’s your plan?” Javi asked passing you the cigarette. As you took it in your hand, you waved around you to signal what your thoughts were. “Right.” He nodded and leaned forward, letting his arms rest on his knees.
“You’re not sore on the eyes, you know that, Peña?” You changed the subject as you looked over at him through the smoke of the cigarette.
The laugh he let out was one of disbelief, the last thing he expected you to say was that.
“Thanks I think.” He took the bud of the cigarette back taking one last drag of it.
“Oh, it’s a compliment.” You laughed and changed the topic again. “You watch out for my brother?”
It was a more serious comment, you did worry.
“He doesn’t need a babysitter.” Javi switched into his DEA mode quickly like he was talking to someone he worked with.
“Never said he did. I just wanna make sure that if you’re the one he’s out on the field with you’ve got his back.” You didn’t stop staring at him.
Javi’s shoulders slumped as he took in who he was talking to, who you were, what you’d have to do if something took a turn.
“Yea I’ve got his back.” He nodded and started playing with the sand.
The silence was deafening, at least for Javi. For you, you were in your own drunk world that was slowly starting to level out since you weren’t feeding your body more alcohol at the moment. The waves of the Atlantic ocean crashing into the sand mixed with the bustling of the city behind you filled both of your ears. For you, it brought you peace, but for Javi it did the opposite.
“You know you’re not too sore on the eyes either.” Javi filled the silence between you.
Your stomach rumbled from the laugh you let out. You were not expecting Javi to say anything of the sorts. Especially after you had just discussed your brother.
“I’ve dated men like you before Javi.” Your statement could have been taken with a pointedness to it, but you were giddy, you weren’t giving him attitude or a negative demeanor.
“Men like me? Like what?” He asked, now intrigued.
“Men who flirt with everyone, disconnected from connection, don’t know love, probably never want to know it, hate being alone but spend most nights lonely, despite who's in your bed– never want to settle down, want me to go on?” For being drunk, you thought you hit the nail on the head with that.
“From what I hear you don’t want to settle down either.” Javi responded back quickly, not taking anytime to ruminate on what you had said.
“Steve’s got a big mouth.” You turned to look at the ocean. Unlike Javi, you couldn’t brush off the comment that easily. “Yea, I said no. And you know what that fucker did? Trashed my shit.” Your anger began bubbling.
“See what wanting to settle down does to a man?” Javi teased you and the humor of it actually brought you down a few levels.
“My parents, they told me to tell him I made a mistake. Beg him to take me back. They think I need a man to take care of me, like I haven’t been on my own since I was 16.” Your head shook.
“What’d Steve say?” Javi was curious but also, he was trying to change your point of view.
“That if he ever sees that asshole again he’s gonna throw him off a balcony.” You huffed.
“Why a balcony?” Javi was intrigued.
“Because he threw the electric typewriter Steve got me off ours.”
“You write?” Javi was learning a lot about you.
“I do.” You nodded with a smile. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Javi. This little knight and shining armor routine doesn’t make you a chapter in my memoir.”
“How long you in Miami for?” He asked starting to stand up and shake the sand off himself, he looked down at you extending a hand out to you.
“Not sure, I can push my flight credits out 2 more times.” Grabbing his hand, he pulled you up and now you two were standing dangerously close. Javi wouldn’t cross that line. Not the line of you being Steve’s little sister, but the one of taking advantage of you since you were drunk.
“I’ve got 4 days, if you’re up for it, maybe we can work on some crazy adventure that’ll make it in your memoir.” His hand was still attached to yours as you stood in front of each other.
You thought about it for a few beats as you stared at him. He wasn’t sore on the eyes, you were so right about that. Would it be the worst thing if you had a little fun, you deserved it, right? No strings, no stress, no worry of proposals and things getting trashed.
“Well it just so happens you caught me when my schedule is completely free, Peña.”
“Well then, let’s have us an adventure.”

so. thought about the MCI's families in the Rewrite. so have my fun headcanons!
Naomi's Family:
hardworking upper-middle class family.
her parents work a lot, so they seem rather distant. they do love their daughters, though.
Susie and Samantha are her younger sisters. Samantha was born a couple of years after Naomi died, though.
they kept promising to get Naomi a dog, but kept putting it off due to not having much time. they were, however, planning to get Naomi a dog before school started back up.
her parents didn't talk about her too often after she died, mostly because it was a sore subject for them.
they did get Susie and Samantha a dog, though! a golden retriever :]
if the girls ever went somewhere without their parents post-MCI, they'd usually make sure that Susie and Sam stayed together. a bit annoying for Susie, but she didn't mind too much.
the girls didn't learn about Naomi and what happened to her until sometime in the mid-90s to early 2000's. they barely even knew she existed.
i mean...technically they met her ghost in the Fnaf 2 location...but still. they didn't know who she was, much less that she was their sister.
Gabrielle/"Gabi's" Family:
not...the wealthiest. they're getting by just fine, but they don't have a lot of extra income or anything.
her mother is Mexican and her father is black. they had gotten together sometime in college, and they had twins first. several years later, they had Gabi.
alongside the twins (Mia and Martin, who were around 14-15 when Gabi was murdered), Gabi has a baby brother (Leo) who was around 4 when she died.
most of Gabi's more feminine clothing came from Mia as hand-me-downs.
the Franklin-Martinez family were close to the Aftons because of how close Gabi and Liz were.
they tried to tell William "hey, uh we think two of your sons might (cough definitely) have severe anxiety issues, and maybe getting them medicated for that?? would be good actually?? i mean, we did it for Gabi, and while nothing's perfect, it's made a drastic difference in her life, so maybe it'll help Mike and Cass??" and William went "Nah, I think they're fine, but I appreciate the concern 😊"
so yeah, Rewrite Fun Fact: Gabi had anxiety meds. it's one of the reasons she gets along with Cass so well (both have horrible anxiety).
they were fucking devastated when Gabi disappeared. on her birthday no less.
the family never really recovered from it. when Martin finally had a family of his own, he named his daughter after her.
final fun fact: Mia and Martin were some of Alex's classmates, but they kinda. Fucking Hated him. understandable. they only tolerated him for three reasons: 1) for Liz and Gabi's sakes, 2) he's one of the few people that didn't deadname/misgender Gabi, and 3) They Aren't Getting On The Bad Side Of The Afton Family. They Just Ain't.
Baker (+ Jeremy)'s Family:
pretty well off! not exactly middle class, but not really struggling, either.
both Jeremy and Baker are AuDHD, but...to put it one way, it was much more obvious with Baker.
their parents were very loving, even if their dad had to work a lot.
Jeremy and Baker were really close, despite how far apart they were in age (Jeremy being in middle school and Baker not even starting kindergarten yet).
since Jere's mom had asked him to look after Baker due to the disappearances of Naomi and Gabi the day before, Jeremy blames himself for Baker going missing. he'd been playing in the arcade and told Baker to stay in the area in front of the stage and to not follow any strangers (unfortunately, "O'Hare" didn't count as a "stranger" to Baker). his parents, however, don't blame Jere for what happened.
Jeremy is of course our good old boy Mr. Fitzgerald, so...he has a Lot of plot things that i can't put here because then it'll be LONG, but have a few: Fnaf 2 Main Guard, Bite of '87 Victim, Beloved Husband of one Michael Afton, Father of two lovely boys (Cameron and Gregory), you get the gist.
Jeremy struggled with the guilt of what happened his whole life. i'd say he made peace with it around Pizzeria Sim, though.
Felix's Family:
he and his Dad...they're doing their best!
Felix's mom left when he was young. he's doing fine, though! (...kinda)
he and his dad are both Irish. he uses the accent to make his "pirate accent" sound more accurate.
Fritz drank a lot, but he was never abusive. he loved his son dearly, and he was trying his absolute best. sometimes, though, that...wasn't really enough for Felix (mostly because it meant Fritz was never there as much as Felix would've liked).
their relationship was a bit...strained. but they still loved each other.
Fritz actually witnessed Felix being taken and tried to go after him and William, but there were too many kids in the place, and he couldn't get around them in time.
(he knows it was William. there's no way in hell it wasn't. it doesn't matter if he claims to have an alibi, or if he claims that someone else could've fit in a suit that size using stilts; it's all bullshit. as far as Fritz cares, the bastard can rot.)
so...yeah. Fritz Smith and William fucking hate each other.
Kelsey (+ Andrew)'s Family:
uh...not doing so hot in the money department.
their parents are divorced, but they live with their dad (because their mom wanted to make some more money before she tried taking the kids).
their dad Fucking Sucks. physically abusive to Andy, verbally abusive to both, and he throws his empty beer bottles at either one of them.
Kelsey was technically "the favorite," but...that ain't saying much. it's pretty much code for "Mr. Schmidt tolerates this kid more than the other one."
Andrew stayed over at the Afton Household pretty often due to this. the longest he stayed over there for any prolonged period of time was for like. a month.
due to the concerns over the other missing children, and Mr. Schmidt wanting to at least pretend he was a good father, he pretty much sprung Babysitting Duty onto Andrew last minute. Andy wanted to go help comfort Jeremy after Baker's disappearance, but since Kelsey wanted to go spend time at Fredbear's, their dad forced him to take him to Fredbear's.
in Andrew's eyes, it wasn't fair. this always happened; he'd make plans, clearly state those plans, and then his dad would just! fuck them up last minute!
besides...it's not like anyone had gone missing at Fredbear's. only Freddy's. why would the killer suddenly switch it up?
so, they leave. Kelsey stays behind, drawing at one of the tables. he promises to draw a picture for Andrew when he gets back.
he was only gone for a couple of hours.
they were only gone for a couple of hours.
they find Kelsey's sketchbook and crayons, the promised drawing being on the open page. Andrew searched the diner top to bottom...nothing. Kelsey fucking vanished.
their father blamed them for what happened to Kelsey. he was supposed to watch him, after all.
and Andy internalized it. it was his fault. he blamed himself for it hard.
(Kelsey never did, though)
Andrew also inherited the alcoholism issues. so. Fun (sarcasm).
Mr. Schmidt tried to eventually reconcile with Andy later on, but...well, Andy was hesitant to fully let him back into their life after all of that (which included some homophobia and transphobia. Andrew is a demiboy and aroace, for context). but Andy was willing to give him that second chance.
Andy eventually gets better and starts going to therapy. good for them <3
Andy also lives with Mike and Jeremy and the kids. just thought i'd mention that. :]
anyway, my beloveds <3
Oh, god. The families are suffering. Poor Andrew, too. It's not his fault. Andy couldn't have saved him...

I wish to hear about the knd oc
>:3c
Give us the lore Silly!!!!
Sososo sorry for taking so long to get to this! Admittedly I was putting this off simply because theres so much lore! I'll be adding a cut to this because with me summarizing stuff, it's still a lot! I'll try to break it up in sections, since there are different.. chapters... for lack of a better word.. this ocs entire life is plotted out! From early childhood to present day when the show takes place! That's a lot of lore considering the character is well into adulthood by the time the main series happens!
Apologies if it's all over the place and some points are.. whack.. this is my first time putting everything into writing! I'll also need to talk about other ocs so this main one can make sense, mostly it'll be talking about their sector, in regards to other ocs! Also its 3am at the time of writing this + my stomach is being MEAN
With all that said, let's hope this doesnt turn into a novel!
Also also** lore may contradict what's in canon, maybe.. I'm not sure! I'm still not done reading the comics and I havent touched anything GKND so I'm unsure if theres any extra info that in unaware of that would complicate things
Feel free to send any questions about the oc!! Lore stuff, interactions with canon characters, ect!
cws: mentions of controlling/toxic parents but i dont go too in depth about it but just know that this is a part of her story. mentions of sexism as well, obligatory its there because "admin uses his ocs to process his experience with his gender as well as being afab and other stuff" but i dont go toooooo deep into it
Name; Rose Wood
Pronouns; she/her
Age; obviously since we're sliding around all over her time line I'll let you know based in the section... but shes in the same age group as Benedict and Monty
Appearance, present day; short, rocking a chubby mom bod! Red hair that's a little faded with a prominent streak of grey. Green eyes. Very curly and fluffy hair! Not sold on a length, but currently it's just last her shoulders! Often wears cardigans or sweaters, though I'm yet to make an "official" outfit for her... her default outfit! Short :( she stopped growing in her early/mid teens height wise, about 5'5
Appearance, KND era; assuming this is in the later half of her time as a KND operative shes tall by kid standards (assuming like. 4'6 is the average for girls as google is telling me). Lanky!! Very long hair, hair is more vibrant but that's really just a design choice rather than an in universe thing. Hair changes length, it starts at mid back but she cuts it to her jaw a few months before shes decommissioned. No default outfit but she swaps between her school uniform and baseball uniform (sports kid before her dad made her stop!!)
Personality; very sweet and kind, patient.. however shes no nonsense, though that develops slowly over time and really roots and shows itself in her young adult years. Lots of internalized feelings, as a child and teen, she feels she had to suck it up and put on a happy face because to do anything else would be "unbecoming", at least according to her parents. As an adult shes oblivious to the whole child vs adult war and doesnt realize how serious it is, shes just vibing
Occupations, past and current; knd operative (decommissioned), teacher (current)
Family; she doesnt talk to her parents all that much however she keeps in touch with her grandfather (very old, think 80s, rose was an oops baby + so was her dad LMAO), and 2 younger sisters. She does have other family members however they're not very fleshed out currently. She does have a son who is a teen by the time the main series takes place! Maybe I'll make a short follow up post on him!
Former Sector teammates, numbers and names; Numbuh 246 (Rose Wood), Numbuh 165 (Jamie Robinson), Numbuh 162 (Kimberly "Kimmy" Wilson), Numbuh 527 ("Sammy" Jones), Numbuh 129 (Davis Peterson) (the leader of the sector)
i'll probably make a separate post for her teammates, this post is already pretty long LMAO
KND days;
she joined within the very early days of the KND, after monty started it. i would go further and say shes a "first generation" knd operative, being there when they fought and overthrew grandfather. she didnt actually join a sector until the last year or two of her time as an operative, working solo prior on missions and helping built up the operation. thanks to her experience, she was sent to go basically work and "pass off her knowledge" before shes decommissioned.
a actually wrote in parallels between her sector and sector v for thematic reasons but i wont get into that here; but if i had to make a comparison shes like the numbuh 5 of the group. fairly level headed and in tune with whats going on as well as being able to step up when it counts to push through on a mission
"if she was sent to basically pass her experience, why wasnt she made the leader?". tight schedule on her part, parents cared a lot about keeping up appearances and they worked rose like a horse by having her sign up to a bunch of extra curriculars + her having her share of chores as well as her parents being strict. she just did not have a lot of time to spare. a lot of her ark is her slowly becoming more and more independent as time passes, but as of now shes pulling herself between being this model student to appease her parents and fighting for the knd's cause. ironic given the whole fighting against adult tyranny thing
there was some friction in the beginning when she first joined the sector, shes the second newest member the newest being 527 (Sammy). a lot of coming from 165 (Jamie), actually throws her failures in her face if they ever fumble a mission because of her whole history. they do eventually become buddies though, but its a slow burn!
she does get what she was sent to do done before she turns 13, her decommissioning is your standard decommissioning albeit with some pizzazz; she was a first gen operative but she was one of the last remaining ones at that time so its like. a whole chapter ending in their history with only a handful of others remaining. she doesnt get to be a secret operative
Teenager;
probably the most underdeveloped part of her story, i mostly focused on her childhood as well as the present day.. so this section and early adulthood is a little under baked. a lot of the themes as before are still here, overbearing and controlling strict parents completely dominate her time so she doesnt have much time to just. be. she does end up reconnecting with some of her old teammates, but theyre all of course decommissioned at this point in time. the only one who is still an operative is sammy, but thats due to them being so young in comparison to the rest of the sector and even then theyre at the end of their time as an operative. due to the whole "operatives arent to mess with the lives of ex operatives" rule thats mentioned, sammy doesnt interact much with rose or the others unless they approach them first.
main thing to note is that rose and davis have a short fling that quickly burns out due to teens being dumb: short explanation davis was insecure and jealous and rose did not want to deal with that on top of everything else going on with her. good for her for looking out for her health
she was not an evil teen, though, far too deep in her studies to really do anything rebellious as well as being afraid of falling behind and disappointing her parents
around this time, not long after her and davis break up her and her family moves out of town
Young adult;
she went NC with her parents not long after she turned 18, moving out soon after. she does keep in touch with her younger siblings, though. the breaking point was really her parents confirming that theyre disappointed with her existence. literally all but saying they wish they had a son instead of a daughter as a first born, lots of old values/views there that finally pushes rose over the edge. noting now that rose did have some feelings about her gender but never really explored it due to feeling the need to conform + this takes place pre 2000s so... but moving forward she does start to embrace herself and slowly take the time to get to know herself now that shes got the time and space to do so. i do like the idea of her experimenting between now and present day, and while she does eventually lean more towards presenting feminine there are instances where shes presenting more masc/feels more masc
while at college she meets someone, obligatory "i havent given him a name yet", they get together. everythings good, they have a kid. they break up. im still cooking up a reasoning for why they split but for now its just "they changed because they got married young, and now theyre older"
Present day;
a few years before the events of the show she moves back to town, i was going to say she moves in during the current events but i decided to be nice and give her a chance to get accustomed to being back in her hometown. i havent decided how it happens but she ends up getting in with the villains but like. not in the way that shes a villain too, in the "shes like the nice lady from down the street who makes some killer brownies so we all vibe with her". kind of just started as a joke that i turned into the canon for her because i can... kind of see that happening... this leads to her meeting benedict, blah blah she vaguely remembers him, they catch up and it leads to them getting together
i actually didnt originally ship them because "ooooooooouuugh father kinda...." actually it was because "the delightfuls need a decent parent figure because GOD!! i love father and my take on him does soften him a bit with time but GOOD LORD" and then it mixed with that and the "ooooooough hes kinda..." LMAO
not much to say other than shes the cool mom at the PTA meetings and just gets along with everyone, probably thinks the delightfuls and sector v are friends. which drives both of them up the wall they HATE it LMAO
Post series finale;
Dead/j
Okay well, that's just a concept. Admittedly I dont know what to do with her after the series finale takes place. Logically one can assume she just continues on with her day to day because shes not really involved in the fight against children, shes quite literally. Vibing and staying in her own lane asides from when she gets dragged into things by the people around her; even then shes still.. oblivious.. not much different than how Monty reacts to the knd stuff, when hes not recommissioned. Simply thinking it's this elaborate game of sorts, ESPECIALLY if she were to get dragged in through the delightfuls (who are. You know, effectively her step children thanks to her relationship with father)

The Lemon Legacy: Generation 1, Chapter 57 - Xander Does a Think
Xander, quiet! Ophelia needs to focus on waving her screwdriver around the coffee maker!
Now that Ophelia is a rising star, she got a gig performing at The Rabbithole, a celebrity hotspot. Xander's not a celeb and doesn't have a shift today so he's on his own.
Ophelia goes for a jog to clear her mind before her gig. She's apparently been doing it a lot because she's now at level 8 of the fitness skill!
Ophelia's jog is cut short when she runs into Mila Munch, who asks for an autograph.
Mila: My boys didn't believe that I was there during your viral video! Their mom, catering for the stars?
She didn't cook jack shit but Ophelia feels like it would be rude to point that out.
Mila: Can you make it out to Lucas? He's my youngest. He's been playing that video of yours non-stop and singing along.
Ophelia: Aww, of course. Want me to say anything in particular?
Mila: Follow your heart. I tell him that all the time but it'd mean the world from you.
A supportive parent? Ophelia can't relate.
Ophelia: That's lovely. Here you go. Just do me a favor.
Mila: Anything!
Ophelia: Keep telling him that. It'll definitely mean more coming from a loving parent than some random musician when he's older.
Mila: Thank you, Miss Lemon.
By the time Ophelia gets back, she has to leave.
Drew and Moses are busy, his parents are still out of town and his sister's family is visiting Hector's cousins. Xander doesn't know what to do with himself, so he practices some yoga to clear his mind and think about some stuff.
Since his parents' trip, Xander hasn't been home for anything other than watering the plants. He loves his parents, and their house is way bigger than Ophelia's, but he feels so comfortable here. Maybe the house's owner helps. He'd live in a cardboard box is she was by his side.
Deep down, Xander knows Ophelia is the one for him. He loved Jules but he's IN love with Ophelia. She makes him the happiest he's ever been. He wants to take the next step and move in together, but his parents aren't getting younger. Can he really just leave them all alone?
Even though they're elders, they're very capable. They'd be fine without him. Xander just knows that as the result of a geriatric pregnancy, he's not going to get as much time with them as other Sims do, but he knows his parents wouldn't want him to put his life on hold for them.
Maybe he can talk to his parents about it when they get back in town. They were so excited to hear he found someone who treats him right, so he's sure they'd be supportive if he moved in with Ophelia.
Looks like this yoga stuff is good for thinking AND for getting fit!
Xander makes his mom's tandoori butter naan for when Ophelia gets home and tries to do a fancy mixing trick like his mom can. It doesn't work out so well for him.
Ophelia's become an excellent cook. Surely his mom will love that about her.
The naan is ready and Ophelia will be back soon. Better keep Marshmallow entertained!
Marshmallow: an illuminated intruder! surrender yourself, foe! i have slain many enemies in my nine lives.
Now that he's showered, Xander's doing his own legacy challenge but he's actually gotten his Sim pregnant with the next generation in a reasonable time. Can't relate.
Marshmallow: father, cease your witchcraft with that wicked box and give me snuggles
Xander sees Marshmallow's pissed so he gives her her fave ball to play with.
Marshmallow: that is more like it. i would plunge into the depths of hell for this ball.
Ophelia's home!
Ophelia: Aww, she's clipping through the ground! That means she likes you.
Ophelia: Something smells amazing. You didn't have to make dinner.
Xander: I wanted to. I wasn't just going to sit on my ass and let you eat cold leftovers after working all most of the day.
Ophelia: You're too good to me.
Ophelia: What'd you do besides play chef?
Xander: Not much, just did some thinking.
Ophelia: There's a first time for everything.
Xander: Watcher, I love you.
Ophelia tells him about her night, but his mind can't help but wander. He really does love her, doesn't he? Yeah.
Xander knows he doesn't just want to move in with Ophelia. He wants to keep building a life with her. It's just the first of many next steps they'll take together.

TW/Content warning re: domestic violence, IPV, questioning. May be v. triggering for victims/survivors of DV and IPV especially those who were not believed. (btw it is NOT about me directly; I am in a loving and generally healthy relationship and I have never personally experienced DV (as a side-side note, one of my best friends has, we helped her get out))
So. My sister is visiting my parents atm. My mom's family reunion thing is going on rn and my sis drove up to attend. (I have just barely started to feel like Me again after Rural Site Adventure, hence opting out).
Background, p 1: my family has a fam friend we'll call N. N was a past student of my mom's, I think potentially a past client but I can't fully remember the story there. She is "in between" my parents' age and mine/my sister's- I'm not sure if she's technically a young Gen X or an older Millennial, but just to give some context regarding age. My family gave her a lot of support when she was getting her life set up, including financial support in the form of interest-free loans. When my little sis was tiny (she is very much Gen Z, still in high school), N lived with us and would help out a ton around the house, with child care, even doing things like chaperoning my dates when I was in high school. There was a bit of a blow-up idk how long ago where my mom felt like N was mothering my little sis too much and boundaries were getting mixed up, and then idk when but then they made up. I've been mostly out of the house for 12 years and totally living away from them for like 9 years, so I don't remember a lot of the specifics.
Background, p 2: My parents' relationship is not great. The gist is: a lot of infidelity from dad and my mom has a lot of emotional lability for as long as I can remember. She can get pretty mean and is prone to a lot of emotional manipulation and tactics like gaslighting, goalpost-moving, triangulation with me + my older sis, guilt-tripping, diminishing others' experiences... i mean we all do these things from time to time, but she does them very often and only on the VERY rare occasion does she take responsibility (I am not saying my dad's infidelity was caused by my mom's emotional lability or that it set off the emotional lability, and I'm not excusing anybody's behaviors; I think all of this is super multi-factorial). Early on when I was in college, before I really knew much, my dad sat us all down (with my mom, after talking with her) and confessed to his infidelity + said he was considering divorcing mom to be with the woman he was cheating with. I laid into him basically saying that running away from all of us wouldn't solve whatever lead to his cheating and make him happy. He already is once divorced (idk why/what happened with his prior marriage, he hadn't yet met my mom even so that wasn't it). I told him maybe he needs to figure out what HE needs to change rather than flitting around from person to person hoping it'll work out. He decided to stay, they went to therapy, there have been no signs of further incidence (not that it's impossible, but my mom also monitors everything his does including his whereabouts via his phone 24/7). Though my mom will say she's forgiven him, she doesn't act like it- and I get trust has been broken, but it extends further to like, financial control, eg, refusing to let my dad who is actually considered elderly now retire, won't let him buy a new speaker system while my mom takes multiple long international trips. And my parents are well-off. They have the money for all of that.
Okay now the issue.
Apparently N was talking with my sister and mentioned something about Mom and domestic violence. My sis asked if I've ever heard any of their issues phrased like that- and no, never. That alone doesn't mean much - although my mom has called BOTH of us in tearful crisis-mode before and has shared more than I think is appropriate, DV is like the one thing many victims/survivors hide and never actually speak up about.
But... my mom is not shy with her body around any of us. Not a nudist, but has no issue changing while talking with us, going to the bathroom with doors open. She has never "hidden" her body in any way at home. She will hide sometimes (choosing baggier clothing, longer sleeves or lengths) when she is out in public, but I think this is partly Mormon modesty and partly body image issues, as again, she has never taken any precautions to hide her body around us kids. In all my memorable life, I have never not once seen unexplained injuries on my mom. I have seen a few small bruises on legs or arms and not known exactly where they have come- but honestly, I would see them after she was doing manual type labor like moving wood, working outside, reorganizing the pantry, moving heavy furniture... and never bruises in a weird pattern or suspicious location, never multiple bruises in different stages of healing.
I also don't sleep well and often don't have a good 24 hr sleep cycle. I don't think I'm non-24, but my sleep/wake cycles are highly variable. My little sister would have night terrors, too, and wake up from them not remembering but also needing help settling back to bed (she would come and get me or ask to sleep in my room frequently). Since I was the only other person upstairs, I stayed up to listen for her terrors so I could be there when she woke up and she wouldn't have to toddle around to find support. This means that during middle school and all throughout high school, I very rarely slept throughout the night. This also means I heard many many many fights between my parents. I have also quietly tiptoed down the stairs to see what tf was going on more times than I can count. I have never seen any signs of physical aggression from my father in these arguments. Definitely both sides are v guilty of emotional and verbal abuse, which is still abuse and is still a problem. I'm just saying I have never seen outward aggression (hitting, punching, kicking, flailing, throwing anything at all, breaking anything, etc) nor have I seen posturing or yelling. More times than not, if somebody even raised their voice, it was my mom.
When I was a child and spanking was still a think "experts" recommended (apparently), my mom would tell my dad to spank me for a punishment, and my dad couldn't do it and would pretend- he would whisper to me that he was going to put his hand palm-up and smack his own hand so it "looked" real if my mom was watching, and I was to scream and cry so it sounded real.
My dad was a vet before he was a psychiatrist. He left vet medicine in part because he was so sad every time he had to put down an animal, or see animals being mistreated. We had many animals growing up from dogs to hamsters and rats and guinea pigs to horses and bird and fish and cats. 0 signs of aggression with them- the worst thing is when he's really mad because a dog went potty in the house he'd get kinda gruff and grumble and swear.
This does not mean that my dad cannot ever be aggressive, or has not ever been aggressive. This does not mean that when I'm not around he acts the same way. I'm not saying it is impossible, or that my mom is definitely lying or "lying by omission" and hinting that the verbal abuse has extended to physical abuse too. I'm not saying things haven't been hidden from me.
I'm just saying... in my nearly 3 decades of life, I have not once seen my dad be truly aggressive. Even while drunk- he's not aggressive, he gets giggly and silly and then tired and falls asleep. My sisters (both of them) have not seen anything, any signs. Even looking back retroactively- nothing that we can say "omg maybe that was a sign we missed." In the patterns I've seen, including where my parents don't know I'm witnessing it, my dad is a huge pushover and my mom will show more signs of anger and aggression. I am getting weird vibes from all of this, and I'm legitimately concerned about why my mom is saying / insinuating these things.
Edit bc I forgot a part that I wanted to share but got too distracted.
My mom also has had some health stuff. She has MGUS which is kinda like a blood pre-cancer, specifically for her it’s like pre-multiple myeloma, but progression is slow and prognosis is overall good. But, this was discovered during workup for pernicious anemia. There’s no real known time frame for how long she had pernicious anemia. B12 deficiency (a main cause of pernicious anemia) can lead to a host of psych stuff including cognitive slowing, confusion, changes in memory, depression, and sometimes even delirium or acute psychosis. She did do B12 shots but it’s been a while since she’s done them, I think. But during that time, her memories were WEIRD. Like she would mix up things between us kids frequently, invent random and totally benign memories (she was convinced I not only ran track in 4th/ 5th grade but was really good at it, when reality was I tried to get out of running in PE because it hurt my throat/burned to breathe while running).
When she was a child, there was also possibly some DV in the home? It’s kind of unclear what exactly happened, but it’s a real possibility. My granny had some form of psychosis at one point- again not sure exactly because this was a long time ago (my mom’s a boomer) but I was told had a gyn condition that would cause her hallucinate/send her into an acute psychotic state, and once she had a hysterectomy, she was better. There was speculation it was ovarian cysts (per my mother; also, not PCOS) but never a confirmation. I have had a burst ovarian cyst that sent me to the hospital and I thought I was dying from the pain, but no psychosis. Anyway. My sis and I wonder if she had a teratoma and had autoimmune encephalopathy.
The point tho, my granny would hallucinate something like dishes in the sink and tell my mom to do them, but there wouldn’t be any dishes to do. So then granny would think she was blatantly disobedient, and punishment back then sometimes was corporal. I don’t have details from my mom, so I don’t know what happened, but we now know that any corporal punishment is detrimental and essentially DV, so regardless of how far it went, it’s problematic.
So, what I’m getting at: my mom has historically had B12 deficiency bad enough to have serious pernicious anemia, and my sis and I noticed a major cognitive shift around that time. She would mix up memories all the time. Since she’s had it before, she could develop it again. And that could lead to increased irritability, cognitive change, MEMORY issues. And she likely has very real DV memories.
Me, wanting to see best in everybody bc I’m just the perfect picture of an optimist (sarcasm), wonders: what if my mom currently has pernicious anemia and B12 deficiency again to the point her memory and cognition are all kinds of messed up, and she’s confusing her real memories from her childhood with my dad? Especially if the same feelings (eg powerlessness) came up.

I am not generally bothered by being accidentally misgendered because it generally does not happen to me. I have been misgendered by a stranger a total number of ZERO times in the past near decade, and it is very easy to see why that is--T turned me into a slightly more Zangeif-lookin version of my paternal grandfather. I have a full beard, an undercut and more chest and back hair than my actual dad. Strangers do not look at me and say "what can I do for you, ma'am?"
But it has been 9 years since I came out to my parents, NINE! ENTIRE! YEARS! and my mother STILL managed to misgender me like 6 fucking times in the span of a two minute conversation between her, myself and my dad when I met them at their car for my kid's birthday on Sunday and it is starting to make me legitimately angry.
Every other family member I have, every single one including my dad, my grandmother, all of my aunts and uncles, my siblings, my in-laws, my nieces and nephews--none of them fuck it up, ever. And if they do they have the courtesy to not do it to my face.
But mom? Tell me you haven't made the slightest effort to think of me in your head with the correct pronounces even once for the past nine years without actually telling me. I bet it'll sound a lot like, said to my dad: "oh, these are for (starts saying my dead name, barely catches herself)--I mean, for August. She asked me for tomatoes last year but Nellie ate most of them while they were still green right off the plant, so I told her that she--oh uh that he--could have some of the tomatoes from our garden for her and (my kid) and I was just about to check if her car door was unlocked so I could just put them in there for her. Him. Oopsie. Haha." Like props to my dad for also side-eyeing her because it was astonishing how many times she managed to fuck it up in only a few short sentences. Kinda wish he'd actually said something though.
I have generally been pretty lax about these fuckups over the years, for a few reasons. The biggest one was that in the beginning, it actually seemed like she was trying. I remember confronting her about it a couple of times early on and her explanation was that she had 29 years of calling me something else working against her, since she has obviously been there since the day I was born. When these older confrontations happened, she also wasn't the only family member having trouble with it, so it felt less like a deliberate, targeted refusal to get with the program and more like something I needed to be patient with because it was an adjustment that I was asking a lot of people to make for what probably felt like completely out of nowhere.
But all those other people? It took them a couple of months at most to stop fucking up (it took my dad longer because he was upset enough to stop talking to me for a few months up until he outed me to my youngest sisters and they gently tore him a new one, and then he didn't talk to me for another few months after that because he was embarrassed by how he reacted). Even the ones I don't see as often have never misgendered me to my face, even when I was early on T and only passed sometimes.
I see my mom nearly every week, because she does Saturday grandma-granddaughter hikes and bike rides and whatever with my kid. She doesn't fuck up every time we talk because if it's just her talking to me, she has zero reason to be referring to me in the third person. But if there is a third person? We're having a big family dinner? BBQ for one of the grandkids summer birthdays? It's just fucking constant and relentless, and she no longer sounds sincere IF she bothers to say sorry or oops when she course corrects, IF she course corrects at all.
My mom was the first extended family member I came out to, and her reaction wasn't the best. It actually kind of sucked, because even though I wrote her a literal essay that preemptively addressed every concern or assumption that she then went on to make in her response to me--you will get a divorce! (I didn't), you're putting a lot on your kid she will never adjust (my kid knew before she did and started calling me dad IMMEDIATELY and I have actually seen her admonish my mom for fucking up my pronouns or accidentally referring to me as my kid's mother), this is an unacceptable burden to put on your husband (mom I literally told you in my initial email that we were fine, because one of the things that got us interested in each other early on was the shared experience of being bisexual, a thing neither of us has ever felt the need to divulge to you because it was both personal and none of your business!). Her and my dad also outed me to my 4 siblings, who I was waiting on talking to because I thought their reactions would actually be worse, when they were, in fact, great about it. I have, on occasion, regretted not talking to them first.
I think that if I ever have the energy to re-litigate this shit with my mom, my first step is going to be taking the 4 of my siblings aside and being like, hey, it's been nine years and you've all been great. Mom has not, and if you catch her misgendering me and deadnaming me when I am not around to hear it, can you give her shit on my behalf? She needs to know she's embarrassing herself and me telling her that has made no difference. It needs to be all of us, or she will literally never stop.
I am nearly 40, I do not have the time to address this with her yet again, but I also do not have the patience to continue to be the bigger person every time I pointedly don't get up in her face about it. This sucks from basically all angles!

Not trying to sound annoying here, but I said many times that this play was going to most likely include a love story between Bob's sister and Henry while people disagreed and attacked me. Now it's revealed that what I predicted was true, now some people just seem to not accept this reality despite the reveal being obvious.
I also think that it's pretty likely that the writers will connect the story to the play and revolve the story around it by conforming that Henry wants to take revenge on the town and on Joyce, Bob, and Hopper because of something they 'did' in the past from Henry's perspective. Maybe they caused Patty's death accidentally and that's what made Henry be angry at town and Joyce, Bob, and Hopper. That may be the reason why Henry wants to take revenge on the town and Jopper + Bob. This also most likely includes Will's kidnapping. And it actually would explain a lot of things, if Henry wants to kinda take revenge, it explains why the Byers are the only family in the town who seem to get targeted in S1, why the MF/Demogorgon seems to not be fond of Joyce and was angry at her, why Will was the one who got targeted twice, and why Bob ended up getting killed, etc.
We may not like this story personally, but let's be real guys... it's very clear and likely that this is where the writers are going for in terms of the overall story and the play's plot.
Is the discourse really that intense right now? I barely see anyone talking about the play
I agree that Patty may play a part in Henry's downfall, but I don't think it'll be the only reason. Maybe just the start of it. The "memory that makes you sad but angry" and he starts spiraling as one bad thing happens to him after another. Patty, his mom, Brenner, all of it.
And you know, I've been wondering about this Alice thing as well. Why wouldn't she have been cast? It's so weird. It got me thinking, was Alice adopted? Did they try to "replace" Henry with a happier child? I dunno random thought that's been swimming in my brain.
Anyway, I still don't agree that Bob, Joyce, or Hopper will be directly involved int his or that Henry has a personal vendetta against them in particular. The Byers weren't the only ones targeted in town, only Will seemed to have been hand picked. Otherwise, the Demogorgon only cared about food and El. It chased or killed everyone else.
In season 2, yet again, it didn't give a shit about anything other than Will and only started caring about everyone else when it got burned and decided to kill anyone in Will's way.
In season 3, it only cared about El. Everyone else involved was meat food.
In season 4, he only cared about his 4 targets so that he could open a gate and kill everyone.
Imo, it's unnecessary to center this conflict on Vecna getting revenge against Joyce and Hopper specifically. I truly think Henry hates the whole town and everyone in it, including them.
I think Joyce, Hopper, and Bob probably witnessed what happened that upset Henry so much, but I'm really not sure why they'd be the cause of it. Not even accidentally.
An example I can think of is their biggest inspiration for Freddy Kruger. When he was alive, Freddy was burned to death by an entire mob of parents so now he hunts down the children of that mob, which is essentially the whole town. Whether or not the parents directly did something like pour gasoline or light the fire, they witnessed it and thus became his targets.
In A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy is introduced as a serial child killer, Fred Krueger, from the fictitious town of Springwood, Ohio, who kills his victims with a bladed leather glove he crafted in a boiler room where he used to take his 20 victims. He is captured, but is set free on a technicality when it is discovered that the search warrant was not signed in the right place. He is hunted down by a mob made up of the town's vengeful parents and cornered in the boiler room. The mob douses the building with gasoline and sets it on fire by throwing Molotov cocktails, burning him alive. While his body dies, his spirit lives on within the dreams of a group of teenagers and pre-adolescents living on Elm Street, whom he preys on by entering their dreams and killing them, fueled by the town's memories and fear of him and empowered by a trio of 'dream demons' to be their willing instrument of evil. He is apparently destroyed at the end of the film by protagonist Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp), but the last scene reveals that he has survived. He goes on to antagonize the teenage protagonists of the film's sequels, including Jesse Walsh (Mark Patton), Kristen Parker (Patricia Arquette), Alice Johnson (Lisa Wilcox), and Lori Campbell (Monica Keena).
If I had to guess the plot:
Henry already had trouble fitting in and a pretty poopy home life. Maybe while his dad was at war in Vietnam (that is the war he was in right?), his mother didn't take care of him and was awful.
Suddenly, when his dad was finally coming back to war, his mother flipped her switch and suddenly became the model mother and wife and despite her neglect, tried to get him to do it too, be he wasn't good at pretending.
He finally makes a friend Patty and he feels like things are finally looking up, but something happens to her which is one of the triggers to his spiral. Maybe he was with her when it happened and gets blamed for it? Or at least suspected.
Being that Patty is Bob's sister, maybe Hopper, Joyce, and Bob try to investigate the circumstances of her death and they get really close to the truth? Maybe they do discover the truth and they're the only ones that know because no one believed them.
Anyway, what happens to Patty was so terrible and Henry was so deeply affected that his dad decided they should move for a "fresh start" in a new house. This also affected him deeply and he had trouble adjusting.
When his dad wasn't looking, maybe his mother was still awful, which is another crack in the mirror.
When the nightmares started, his mom called Brenner on him and that was another trigger for him.
And thus, it all came crumbling down and he tried to kill his whole family.
I dunno. Guess this will be by bingo card and I'll cross off everything I got right when the play gets here.
All that to say, no one should be arguing and getting mad over all this. It's just a play. Yeesh.

Hometober Day 3
Today's prompt was "a vision of home", based on the 3 months of living with my aunt Lossie [yes she's my godmother] in her big mansion-like house. Her bedroom was one of my favourite places to be, it was the ideal master bedroom in the early 2000s and it was quite hard to pick a colour for it, but the soft yellows from the morning light made it look like heaven to me as a kid. More detail under the read more, but otherwise hope you enjoy!
My aunt was a co-CEO of a law firm with my uncle, so they lived very comfortably and supported all of her kids through school and extracurriculars. My cousins had the coolest bedrooms, the basement was massive and decked out [you might see it in a later entry] and her backyard was large and ornate, and had a fancy gate that led into a forest trail. A large portion of my time in Calgary was spent idolizing her and all she had, she was the pinnacle of success to me. She fed me the large double chocolate chip muffins, gave me fancy vitamins and her home was so huge it was like discovering a new city to explore. But as stated, her bedroom was my favourite. It started with an inside balcony with a fancy little desk and chair that led you to a beautiful ensuite where she placed my daycare projects. [I felt like I won a gold medal in life when I saw them there]. Then these giant white double doors led to the bedroom, very spacious and brightly lit, and the slanted roof ceiling was the coolest thing ever to me. She had gorgeous decorations and fancy throw pillows, and it led into the biggest bathroom and tub I have ever and still have ever seen. The entire area was like a princess' castle and I felt spoiled when she let me walk around and sit on the bed to watch TV. I wore fancy dresses and lace-trimmed socks [any Latino will know what I'm talking about] and I battted my lashes at everyone I spoke to because I thought it made me more ladylike and I wanted to fit in with the fancy lady vibes of the house.
Looking back on it, those 3 months were very important to my formative years, learning manners at the table and how to speak English very quickly [to specify these 3 months took place right after Christmas from the last picture so I had just turned 4] so I'm thankful she was able to cater for us and keep us above water while my parents managed immigration stuff. However, I recognize as well that these memories while precious to my childhood, were built on a painful falsehood. My aunt married my uncle and assumed her position at that building through the marriage, a building my mom and dad were hired to clean while I sat in one of the break rooms reading or staring at the jellybean jar in a glass stand down the hall. My aunt used her kindness and goodwill to keep my parents in her favour, and especially bent my dad's thoughts to her side of things. While I loved going to her house for parties and family reunions and playing with my cousins, she continued her guise while talking down my mom and sister. She used my idolizing of her against them, and the whole house was a beautiful glass present wrapped in fancy antiques and overcompensation for the children she did and didn't bear. I loved that house, and the good times I had. But if I ever visit it again, I know for sure it'll be in a brand new light. It was the last sense of "home" I felt before I moved to Ontario and sometimes I feel a small little piece of myself still clinging to the deep brown doors of her home and the upper-class vibes of the neighbourhood I still look back on fondly. Who knows, really.
#october prompts#october 2023#drawtober#monochrome#calgary#bunart#estoy la#hometober#hometober 2023#hometober day 3#tia lossie's house is a very gray space for my memories#its one of the most confusing and conflicting memories I have#ive had many long and sad talks with my sister about it and even now i know i don't have the entire story#i sometimes get the urge to hop on the next plane there and kick her door down and confront her#but a girl needs time and patience and plan#maybe one day ill tell her how I feel and finally cut it off for good#she didnt have a perfect life being the second oldest of 9#but i dont think any of it excuses what she did#im sure theres many reasons she wasnt there for her sister's 50th this past may#sorry this was a downer#but Im happy honestly to finally start expressing these feelings I've been humming and hawing about for years and years#thanks if youre reading this#your memories are yours to make of it#but dont let them consume the day to day joys and wins of now#or the love of those around you and yourself#have a great day!

Sims 4 Fontenot Legacy - First Family Outing!
In the afternoon, the family decides to go out and enjoy the nicer weather in San Sequoia at the rec center. Scarlett gets some knitting time in while the young adults focus on the three infants.
But the outing doesn't come without its dips in energy levels, kids and adults alike 😆 while a number of the family settle down for naps, Sigrid works with Audrey to get her crawling like her sister, but it seems she needs just a little bit more time.
And as Sabrina settles Juno down for a nap in the upstairs crib, a familiar face appears in the hallway, which Sabrina notices. They make their way over, questioning their perception in the process but eager to see if they were right. They were.
Sabrina: Bernard, is that you?
Bernard: Sabrina? Oh my goodness, what are the chances!
Sabrina: I know, right? How are you?
Bernard: I'm doing pretty good, you?
Sabrina: Alright. Life's been full of ups and downs. You look awesome, love the new hair.
Bernard: You look great too. So what brings you around these parts?
Sabrina: Just a casual family outing, taking the kids out for some fresh air after a long winter inside.
Bernard: Kids? You're a parent now?
Sabrina: Yup! I have a son, Juno. He's down for a nap in the playroom. Robin's a dad now too, he and his fiancée have twin girls Alma and Audrey.
Bernard: Wow, a lot has changed! I'm sure Armani is thrilled to be a granddad.
Sabrina: Oh... Armani passed a while back now. It was his time.
Bernard: That's too bad, he would've spoiled those kids. What about your mom?
Sabrina: Oh she's fine, thrilled about being a grandma and determined to stay in the best shape so she can see him grow up. I have some pictures, look.
Sabrina pulls out their phone and scrolls through endless photos of the family, which Bernard looks through in contentment.
Bernard: They're all so adorable! It's nice that they're close in age so they can grow up together.
Sabrina: Mhm, just like me and Robin, and Anya too by extension, though she was a bit older and didn't want to hang out with us quite as much.
Bernard: Who's Juno's father?
Sabrina: A guy named Marquise. We're not together, just friends. I'm actually in a relationship... well, we're taking a brief break while I focus on Juno and my business, but yeah.
Bernard: You seem like you're doing well for yourself. I'm glad.
Sabrina: Well, what about you? Anything exciting in your life? A partner maybe?
Bernard: Nah. Just living my life quietly off-screen. It's more my style.
Sabrina: Oh...
Sabrina didn't mean to sound unenthusiastic or awkward. They were genuinely very happy to see Bernard, despite how things ended, but his response made them remember what really happened between them. That Sabrina had broken his teenage heart. Maybe they were the reason they were alone now, because they couldn't bear for the same thing to happen again.
Sabrina: Bernard... I know things ended kinda... not so good between us. I'm really sorry about that. We were young and it was a whirlwind romance. I just want you to know, I don't regret my time with you. I hope you don't have any regrets either.
Bernard: Sabrina, I'm good, really. Life may not have all the intricacies of played sims, but my life isn't bad either. I'm just doing my own thing, and for now, that's enough for me. And I don't regret us. I just wish things ended differently. Friends?
Sabrina: Yeah. Friends.
And outside, the three other adults enjoy a quick bite to eat while keeping an eye on the kids.
Robin: I'd say this was a pretty good time out with the kids!
Sigrid: Yeah! I think it'll gradually get easier to do this as they age. Maybe we can take them camping or something.
Robin: We can take them to the slopes like we talked about way back. Get back into skiing ourselves.
Sigrid: I do miss it, it was really fun.
Robin: Don't worry, I'll get you back in shape.
Sigrid: You? You think you still got it? It's been a minute.
Robin: Please, once I get it I don't lose it. It's okay though, I'll show you the ropes again.
Sigrid chuckles.
Sigrid: Love your confidence, hun.

A post dedicated to Noel and Caron as parents because I don't talk about it nearly enough (In relation to my fankid fic thing I don't have a name for it yet. It is ALSO talking abt Oscar having adopted a child and Slug and Toad also having adopted a child!) (But also discussing the dynamics of the families and general others)
How the hell were Carter and Athena born? Who the fuck knows! Anyway. Caron isn't good with children in the slightest, but also some kids will just instantly cling to him (Like Oscar's adopted daughter, Amelia, who thinks Caron is super cool). Noel is good with children, however due to being an only child she isn't sure what it's like to take care of them. Athena's appearance is based off of my interpretation of a human Caron, and Carter's is based off of Noel's. However, Athena has her mom's personality and Carter has his father's. Specifically, Athena's personality resembles her mother in the early parts of the game and Carter's resembles his father's at that same time. So they argue a lot. Like a lot. Especially since the story starts when they are 15, entering grade 10. Athena is popular, appearance focused and stubborn, and Carter is studious, also popular but not as much, and is nearly always stressed. I forgot to mention. Hunter exists here! He somehow still looks like he is in his 30s despite Noel being in around her 40s, and him being 15 years older than her. How? He's just silly like that (Its actually relevant to the story itself) He's really close with his sister, especially since he has two nieces and one nephew. When Python or Jewel aren't taking care of Giselle, he's taking her to Build-a-Bear or the aquarium. More so considering Noel has returned to work. Caron isn't very fond of Hunter, he thinks he's weird and that is only encouraged by how he either smells awfully of blood and death OR really heavy perfume. Noel doesn't mind it, she's used to both. Caron does the majority of the housework and parenting during the work day due to him not being summoned often, leaving him with so much spare time. He's secretly Giselle's favourite, simply because he lets her get away with a lot. (Evil 4-5 year old lol) Oscar works as a security guard for a popular nightclub that Noel once frequented in her 20s and early 30s, and spends all of his free time with his daughter Amelia. They're extremely close, Amelia even wanting to be just like her dad. Especially since him adopting her saved her from the awful orphanage she was in. Fugo spends time with her when Oscar's working, helping her with her homework the best he can. He lets her get away with a lot of shit, but she rarely acts out. He also takes care of Toad and Slug's kid when they're busy, named Micheal. Micheal is very shy (definitely picked it up from Slug) yet also extremely protective. He's two years younger than Amelia, who's 14, making him 12. They always ask their uncle if he has a job. He does, but he works exclusively at night. He doesn't disclose more details than that. Back to the twins, Carter and Athena are like any teenager in the way that their relationships with their parents are complicated. On one hand, Athena is a pianist who strives to be just like her mother, minus the limb and terrorism things. Carter wants to be famous for his intelligence and strengths, particularly in fashion and chemistry. On the other, Athena hates the rules she has to be under. The rules are understandable, however they're WAY more than any of her friends have. Carter feels like he'll forever be in his sister and parents' shadows. Both of them have extremely strong wills, to the point where they'll dive head first into danger if it'll benefit them. Despite their parents warning them.

doing this because fun. gonna use a recent character I've been thinking about and making more lore for.
long uh, everything, so feel free to skip if you don't like reading a lot of words and stuff.
1: average. a bit standoffish but otherwise decent. probably a lot more tame and level-headed than she is now.
2: more of a protective mom friend.
3: soldier.
4: o boi that's a lot to write. um, writing from her perspective because it'll make it easier for me.
4i: family.
4ii: yes; I need to provide some entertainment for myself and my sister.
4iii: rehearsing is boring and takes up too much time.
4iv: training people and priming them just right so they're perfect for my sister. although, a small fight every few days wouldn't be too bad...
4v: I don't sing. I only sang once during karaoke with my family and got really embarrassed about it. never again...
4vi: oh please, this is too easy; I'll take body over mind any day. it is important for my job.
4vii: no.
4viii: I don't have partners. I have trainees.
4ix: my family. they're awesome.
4x: eh, I don't know. I was raised pretty well, so there's not much I'd change.
4xi: again, no partner. my life story isn't all that great anyways. all I really do anyways is [hi, me here. I'm not really comfortable putting what she does for work because reasons. I'm sure you can figure it out yourself though, so good luck].
4xii: more speed. faster movement means faster protection. I don't want anything happening to my family.
4xiii: if I protect my family. if I find out I couldn't save any one of them, I don't know what I would do with myself...
4xiv: I like to live in the present. it's where all the fun is happening! dreams are for dreamers — I'm a doer.
4xv: getting my job and making my family even bigger.
4xvi: I don't do friends; I do family.
4xvii: I'd have to say... growing up with my sister.
4xviii: drinking Wild's drink. ugh, that was a terrible taste...
4xix: I'd like to spend more time with my family. I'd also prepare my sister for when I'm gone so that she won't have to figure everything out herself.
4xx: friendship doesn't mean shit to me. you're either my family, or you're not.
4xxi: I love my family. there's hardly anything I wouldn't do to keep them safe.
4xxii: no partner.
4xxiii: I had a decent childhood. my parents kind of left when I became an adult, but we're still on good terms. we don't talk much anymore, but they're fine. my sister and coworkers, though, we're closer than anyone in the whole everywhere. you couldn't pry us apart no matter what you did!
4xxiv: my mom was pretty cool. she was nice and sweet. made the best cookies ever, too.
4xxv: ...not sure what this means...
4xvi: no. I'm not saying that.
4xxvii: no partner, no friends. just me and my family. and they already know enough about me to know who I am, so we're cool.
4xxviii: I'm getting tired of these "partner" questions...
4xxix: don't have a partner.
4xxx: I don't think I've ever cried.
4xxxi: I don't. have. a partner.
4xxxii: death. I don't joke about that. anyone who does has never felt it in their life.
4xxxiii: I guess... I'd regret not being able to spend more time with my family.
4xxxiv: I have a very special [hi, me again. redacting info because reasons] that one of my chosen family members game me a long time ago. I never saw her again, but it reminds me of her. somehow, I still hope that I'll see her again.
4xxxv: disturbing... hmm... well, there's ara, who would probably be the most emotionally disturbing, considering how nice and friendly she is. on the other side, there's kindred. she's probably the most powerful person I've worked with, so if I saw her dead, it'd be a gruesome sight... very disturbing. heh, she'd probably still have that wild look in her eyes and a smile on her face, if there'd be anything left of it.
4xxxvi: again, and for the last time, I don't have a partner. keep it up and I'll personally break your legs with mine.
(oh boy, so much writing. sorry about that).
5: she don't have trauma.
6: music: kinda. art: yes (but not the full scope). fashion: no. drinks: no.
7: she's more of a "I'll die if it means protecting my family 'till the end."
8: platonic love: 10 — she loves her coworkers/family. romantic love: 0 — she doesn't really do that sort of thing.
9: it'll be a really tough choice to let them go, but ultimately she'll do what she believes is best for her family.
10: her family (aka sister and coworkers she holds dear).
11: she doesn't do romance.
12: vaporwave, rock, and a little bit of heavy metal when she wants to de-stress.
13: scene: dangerous people break into her place of work and demand whatever (idk this story isn't about the robbers). she'd be the second one to attack the criminals (the first would be kindred, but that's a different character for a different time). her sister would join in soon after, and she and her sister would work together alongside kindred and other security personnel to help get rid of the criminals, using her enhanced legs to kick ass and break bodies with ease as she ferociously defends her home and her family. (I hope this is a good enough answer, otherwise I'd have to add another 500 words or something to detail everything she'd do before during and after).
14: she doesn't trust others easily. she's very weary and always assume there's ulterior motives behind every action.
15: anything's game.
16: black cat, easily.
17: she'd probably feel a bit worried and try to cheer me up (if she trusted me). ultimately she'd probably take me back to her "residence" and try to help me sort some stuff out.
18: survive: fantasy, dystopian, futuristic, medieval, forest. die: war (sacrificing to protect family), island.
19: parents are fine, but they don't talk anymore. she feels like this is the perfect gen to be born, because there's so much fun to be had.
20: that no harm would befall her family.
21: she hasn't really had a romantic kiss before, but if she did her entire world would be shaken to its core. butterflies in her stomach and wooziness and knees buckling and everything.
22: lots of training/prepping people to her liking, lots of time with her family at work, and maybe a little fight to help keep her stimulated.
23: if she fucks up, she'd sit with herself and marinate in her emotions and thoughts for a long time. if she doesn't sort it out herself, she'd go see either mythic or ara (some of her work family) to help her sort her emotions out.
