“What are you up to?” Javi was rolling over in his hotel bed, waking up from a short-lived nap. His hair was disheveled, the only thing covering his body was the white sheet and comforter from the bed. His chest was exposed as he reached for the glass of water on the nightstand, waiting for your reply.
You were sitting at the hotel room’s desk, the lamp was the only light illuminating the room until Javi reached over to switch the entire space’s light. You were similarly undressed like Javi, your underwear and shirt were the only things over your skin. It was honestly what the last 4 days looked like for both of you. Everything was low stakes, you went out to bars to drink, you went out to restaurants to ear, you went to the beach, you had sex, a lot of sex. It was honestly the fun you were looking for after everything you had been through, this was the adventure Javi said it would be.
You wouldn’t dare admit it outloud, but somehow, someway along the way, it wasn’t just an adventure anymore. 4 days wasn’t enough time to logically or sanely admit that you had fallen for someone, that low stakes became serious and maybe it was because you went into it expecting the opposite.
“I’m just proofreading some of my latest writing.” You hummed as your eyes moved over the sheets of paper.
Javi was standing up now, throwing on his pants before grabbing a cigarette and making his way over to you. His hands passed down your arms, his touch was light and caused the goosebumps to raise on your skin as you moved into his grasp. You were beginning to regret the office chair you were sitting on as it was blocking his entire body from being pressed up against you.
“Did that,” he moved his head back towards the bed, “make it into your memoir?” He teased you, still wrapped around you.
“I told you it’s not a memoir, it's fiction– it’s romance.” You rolled your eyes.
“My question stays the same.” It was spoken quietly in your ear, his hands were now on your bare legs and you brought them closer to you and allowed him to caress more of your skin.
“A move or two might have made it in.” You chuckled and moved to grab the papers and restack them so the title page was laying on top.
Javi’s eyes moved from your body to the papers shuffling. “A move or two huh?” He was smirking, his hands still dancing all over your body. “I’m gonna shower, you wanna get something to eat after?” He was quick to place a haste kiss on the top of your head before removing his hands from your body and stepping towards the shower.
4 days. All it took was 4 days to feel your stomach drop when Javi’s warmth left you. If this is how it felt just to be physically let go by him, you weren’t exactly ready to say goodbye to him, but again this was all just noise in your head you wouldn’t dare speak it outloud.
“Yea, I’m starving.” You called out to him in the bathroom hoping your voice carried over the sound of the water running.
The time alone while Javi was sleeping allowed you to go over your writing, your drafts, make notes, keep your mind occupied, but now you stood up and moved over to the hotel window. Javi had a 18th floor view, you could see the ocean, the bustling Miami streets and to them you were just a shadow in a window. You’d get ready in a few minutes, take the time Javi spent showering to get some type of dinner attire on, but right now you’d take one minute to feel. Feel the emotions swarming around like a pit in your stomach, the thought that this was going to be the last night you enjoyed with him before he was off to Colombia and you both moved on with your lives, you wanted to wrap your head around that because it’d make everything easier later when you said goodbye.
Deciding to take one more minute at the window, you thought about the last four days. Every laugh, every kiss, every stolen glance when you were out in the world unable to touch on eachother the way your dirty minds had thought of. But it all added to the allure of it all, the pining, the foreplay, the tension and teasing. Your favorite memories of all though were late in the evening or early in the morning some would have classified it as. After you two had tangled in the sheets, caught up on every dirty little detail that ran through your minds during the day, you sat on that 18th floor suite looking out at the beach and talked about everything. That was the benefit of low stakes, nothing mattered. Sharing your deepest darkest secrets held no anxiety of the others reaction because in a matter of hours, you’d both be out of eachothers lives and just a memory that would be a small mark on the calendars of your life. 4 days was just long enough to have a good time, but just short enough to not remember in months time. You knew this and Javi knew this. It’s why you and Javi talked, and talked in depth about things you probably wouldn’t have with anyone else. It was heavy, but there was something about getting it out and off your chests and not having to worry about it weighing either of you down that felt, well, relieving.
“He has his ranch, it's his life, y’know.” His chest vibrated as you leaned against it in the bed as you looked out the large window that extended across the whole wall of the room.
“Do you have chickens?” The question came out so serious as your finger traced his abdomen.
His stomach raised as he let out a laugh. “Yes, we have chickens.”
“I always wanted chickens.” A smirk filled your face as Javi started to mimic the tracing on your shoulder.
“You didn’t have chickens back home in Tennessee?” He was genuinely asking.
“We were hillbillies not farmers.” The joke left your tongue and Javi let out another laugh. If he knew one thing already was that the Murphy’s were hillbillies.
“Have any pets in New York?”
You knew he was just making conversation but you took the opportunity to disclose details about your own life.
“No, although the relationship I was in was so picture fuckin’ perfect all we needed was a dog to make the perfect family photo.” The scoff that left your mouth was one that left behind a lot of detail, detail Javi was curious about.
“If it was so picture perfect, why’d you say no when he wanted to marry you?”
“It was perfect on paper, he had the Wall Street job, grew up down south, was a gentleman when it mattered, took care of the bills, of the dinners, of the dates, got me flowers.” The way you spoke was so mundane, like the things you said weren’t details other women would fawn over.
“But?” Javi was now looking down at you waiting for a response.
“But, he didn’t really care about me. I think he wanted to, I think we both wanted to, but ultimately, it just wasn’t right, you know. It didn’t feel right.”
“I get that.” Javi took in everything you said. There was silence now between you as he let his mind wander and you let your memories fill your brain. The next words out of Javi’s mouth though, those made every memory of yours dissipate.
“I was driving to the church, was with my buddy John, he was my best man.” The sentence was like you had all the context to what he was talking to, but you were able to piece it together. “I couldn’t go through with it.”
You didn’t move from your position on him, you stayed their, tracing his chest with your hand. “Wasn’t right.” Were the only two words you said because you understood exactly what he felt then.
“Wasn’t right.” Javi agreed with a quick nod of agreement before continuing talking. “I don’t think I’ve told anyone that and gotten that relaxed of a response.” He was looking down at you now that you let out a laugh.
“Well most people you tell probably haven’t gone through it themselves.”
As you got brought back to the present moment, you were walking out the door. Somehow as your mind wandered and you managed to get ready. Now, you were on your way to spend the last night with Javi, with all the feelings pushed aside so you could say goodbye with no issue.
____
You let the night pass without a single display of remorse, no sign of the sadness that actually filled your mind and heart. And truthfully, besides that, it was an enjoyable night, lots of laughs, a late night walk on the beach, and very little sleep. As you trekked through the airport with Javi, both of you tired from the previous night but extremely grateful for every minute of lost sleep, you reached the security gate. Javi turned to you, his carry-on over his shoulder and suitcase on the ground to his left.
“You know how you were proof checking your book before?” Javi brought his hand up to play with the strings of your hoodie. The look on your face was shocked, you expected a goodbye, maybe a sarcastic, humorous, comment but on top of that, you were amazed he even remembered that moment at the desk at all.
“I, um, saw something when you were flipping through the pages and wanted to offer an edit.” His voice wasn’t as confident as it normally was, his nerves were getting caught in his throat.
“What’s the edit?” A curious frown sat on your face, you never expected him to remember the writing let alone enough to offer up an edit.
“The title. Maybe in Another Life.” He said as the title page sat as an image in his head. “I think you should call it–” he paused for a moment and you could tell he was racking his brain around what to say next, the English and Spanish mulling around in his brain quickly before speaking up again, “Maybe When the Timing’s Right.”
Your stomach dropped and your heart skipped a beat. There was no more explanation needed, what he was saying was as clear as day to you. It wasn’t just you, it wasn’t all in your head, and yes, you might have been crazy to feel all of this when you had only spent 4 full days together, but Javi was right there with you. It didn’t heal the fact that you had to say goodbye to him right now but you’d take this feeling over the one you had in your gut just minutes before.
“I think we’ll have to workshop that name suggestion.” You took the opportunity to tease him but quickly offered up something to let him know you were on the same page. “But yea, I agree, the title needs work.”
Relief filled Javi’s face as the nerves immediately left him. A small smile formed on his face and he nodded. “Let me know when you workshop it.” He handed you a piece of paper with a number on it.
“You tellin’ me to call you, Peña?” You grabbed the paper and tucked it safely in your pocket.
“I mean how are you going to write those steamy chapters in your romance book without my input?” There it was, his sarcastic comment to wish you farewell that you expected. Again 4 days might not have been a lot but it did let you get to know him pretty well.
You laughed and instead of offering him a taunting comment back, you kissed him. Differently than you ever had before, it felt light, it felt less tense, it felt like all those emotions you had buried away were coming to the surface and words weren’t ever going to be enough to express them. Goodbye was the word you dreaded saying from the second you thought about this moment and now, with this kiss, you didn’t have to say it. Because it wasn’t goodbye, it was I’ll see you when the timing’s right.

Never Letting You Go
Masterlist
Pairing | Agent Javier Pena x Agent F!Reader
Summary | What starts out as a shitty Valentine’s Day turns into everything that you’ve ever wanted. Javi treats you the way you need, by never letting you go.
A/N: First time writing for Javier's character, forgot this was in the vault. Enjoy
(As a reminder I'm no longer doing tag lists, make sure to turn on notifications on my page for when I post).
Warnings | 18+, Minors DNI, Smut
Language, angst, mentions of prostitution and Agent work, mentions of the cartel, mentions of cheating (from your previous relationship), grinding, mentions of penetrative sex, soft fluffy moments.
Word Count: 5.5K
“Fuck baby,” he said, grinding against your ass with a little bit more force. “Do you feel that? See, that’s what you fucking do to me woman.” Javi was now rocking harder into you, giving you slow deep thrusts. You could feel his hard outline in his pants as he was seated firmly against you. “This is what you’ve always done to me. I don’t hate you, fuck baby, I like you. I want you. So if you’ll shut up long enough, then maybe you’ll hear me say it.”
Today was Valentine's Day, and usually this was something that didn’t concern Javier Peña. He was a DEA agent that was in the middle of trying to bring down drug dealers and drug lords, he didn’t have time to be concerned about feelings or emotions on a specific day on the calendar. But yet here he was, in the files room pacing back and forth, trying to calm his nerves. Javier was never nervous when it came to the opposite sex. He usually was always so calm, cool, and collected when handling them. Well, except for today that is, and especially when dealing with you. Somehow you had gotten under his skin just enough that now he was pacing back and forth, mind racing of what to do if you didn't like the gift that he just left you on your desk. He was so lost in his own head that he didn’t hear the door open and Steve Murphy step in.
“Javi, what the hell are you-” Steve said, stopping dead in his tracks when he saw Javi pacing back and forth, running his hand down his face.
“She ain’t gonna like the gift. Why did you say it was from you and not a secret admirer? Jesus. Soy un idiota (I’m such an idiot).” Javi mumbled to himself.
“You got a lady a Valentine’s gift there Peña?” Murphy said, slamming the files on the desk and causing Javi to jump. Javi just stood there, not answering his friend and fellow DEA agent’s question. Steve, seeing how nervous Javi was, continued to tease him slightly. “Who’s the lucky girl, Peña?”
Before he could answer, they both heard you marching down the hall, yelling, “Peña, I’m gonna fuckin’ kill you, you arrogant bastard.”
About a year ago you were transferred to Columbia in an attempt to assist in the capture of Pablo Escobar. At first, you were excited about serving your country and bringing the bad guys to justice. That was before meeting your two male DEA partner’s, however. The first time you met Steve Murphy and Javier Peña it was love at first insult. You were the head female DEA agent hired to work alongside them in helping bring down the Medellín Cartel, and subsequently Pablo Escobar. However, your transfer to Columbia somehow pissed both of them off.
Since you had arrived, all those two idiots did was piss you off one way or another. They were the biggest source of your headaches and irritations to date, and one of the biggest reasons why you hated your current job. They wouldn’t listen to you, and they continuously left you out of the loop on information. To make matters worse, when they got bored you were the target of their practical jokes, like today.
Today was Valentine’s Day, and one day on the calendar that you wished you could just completely remove. You hated Valentine’s Day with a passion, ever since you found your ex-fiance balls deep in your sister on Valentine’s Day one year ago. It was after that you found out that the man who you thought loved you had always cheated on you with your sister, from Moment. Fucking. One. You were together five years with him, and apparently all those five years he was also fucking your sister every chance he got. You were happy to hear that her husband caught them in bed and had filed for a divorce. You thought it was poetic how she lost a man who made a shit ton of money for an asshole who could hardly pay rent for his shitty apartment. So when you took the job transfer to Columbia you felt okay with the situation that had happened, as shitty as it sounded.
But then last night your sister called you and informed you that she was getting married, and that she was pregnant too. She advised you that it would be best if you didn’t attend the wedding because of hard feelings the two of you had. When you asked who the soon-to-be husband and dad was, she had informed you that it was your ex-fiance and that they both were happy they found someone that loved them deeply. As soon as you heard that, you told her to ‘go to fucking hell,’ and then slammed the phone down. Out of anger and rage you grabbed the bottle of alcohol that was on the counter, and downed most of it in one go. Yeah, you weren’t going to that fucking wedding.
When you woke up and realized it was Valentine’s Day, you seriously contemplated calling in work sick. But you remembered that you had a morning meeting with your bosses and you knew that Javi and Steve wouldn’t show up. So you begrudgingly got up and showered, swearing underneath your breath of how life wasn’t fair. You hated today, Valentine’s Day, with a passion. Six years ago you met your ex on Valentine’s Day because he was stood up on a date, a date with your sister you found out much later. Then last year, on Valentine’s Day, you caught him cheating with your sister. How did life get so fucked up?
To add to your already sour mood, when you got into work early you noticed that all the rest of the females in the office had big bouquet of flowers on their desks from Javi and Steve. Each of them had a note saying that they really appreciated all the hard work that they have done, and that they were special angels for helping them out. When you got to your desk you didn’t see any flowers or note telling you that you were special. The only note that you saw was from Steve saying “don’t fuck up this meeting” and asked if you took your “anti-bitch pill today yet.” Yeah you hated this fucking day.
The meeting that was only supposed to be an hour went on for three long hours, and you were berated for two out of the three hours in the meeting. You had to once again mop up the mess that both Steve and Javi had created, promising to get results instead of excuses. Recently, all the leads that your department was getting in capturing Escobar were cold, no one had seen him or heard of him in almost a month. Even when you went in and shook the crime tree, nothing fell out of place which made everyone uneasy, especially your superiors.
Finally when the meeting was over with you were able to return to your desk to try to let your heart and blood pressure return to normal. When you approached your desk, you saw a little basket there with a pretty red ribbon with sparkles in it. You looked around quickly to see if anyone noticed or was standing there, you also glanced quickly under your desk to make sure Steve or Javi wasn’t sitting there waiting for you to relax so they could scare you. When you noticed nothing was out of the ordinary you felt your heart flutter in your chest, especially when the tag read “to the most special DEA female agent” in Javier’s handwriting.
At first your heart fluttered, thinking that finally someone, Javi, took the time to give a shit. If you were being honest with yourself, you did like Javier Peña. He was very sexy and attractive. When he wasn’t being an asshole, he was truly sensitive and understood the female sex with their emotions. You thought that he didn’t care anymore about you, but the longer you looked at the name tag on your gift, the more you thought that maybe you were wrong at your assessment. Your heart raced and you felt the heat creep up your neck at the thought that maybe Javi did see you as something more than just an individual who worked with him each day. But when you opened the basket and saw the gift that was laying there for you, your wonder turned into embarrassment as your face fell. Then when you read the note inside you saw red with anger. That bastard took it one step too far this time.
Once Javi heard your voice he suddenly froze, slowly listening to where you were coming from. When he realized that you were getting closer, he glanced over at Murphy with wide, scared eyes. He mouthed “shh, shut the fuck up,” when Steve went to open his mouth to ask Javi something.
As Steve stood there he was trying to understand what the hell his partner had done to anger you so much. He mouthed to Javi ‘what the fuck did you do man?’ Javi just shook his head and placed his finger to his lips to silence Steve’s further questioning. He wasn’t trying to be a coward, but with how angry you were right now, he didn’t want to come face to face with you. Yes, Javi had a knack for pissing you off so much that you’d threaten to kill him. But from how angry you sounded, he figured that if he was standing in front of you right now, that you would in fact shoot him dead.
Javi and Steve continued to stand in silence together for a few minutes. Javi was hoping that you would just continue down the hallway and not stop outside of this door. For a moment it sounded like you had moved on, so much so that Javi felt himself visibly relax and let out a sigh. But that moment was short lived. When Javi heard the door knob turn he quickly said, “shit Murph, lie,” and then he ducked behind one of the filing cabinets against the wall.
“What the-” Steve said, looking confused, but for only a minute as you quickly came bursting through the door seething with anger.
“Murphy, where is he?” you said, steam practically coming out of your ears at how mad and pissed off you were at Javier Peña.
“I don’t-”
“Don’t give me that I don’t know shit. You two are practically glued together at the hip, so where the hell is he?” You bit back, standing right in front of Steve’s face.
“Woah, now wait just a second there princess, don’t be biting my head off. I don’t know where he is, or what he’s done, but you can just curb that attitude of yours and-”
“Don’t act like you don’t know what he’s done. This smells like both Peña and Murphy antics to me,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Well sorry cariño, I don’t know where he is or what he’s done.”
Huffing, you let out another long sigh, balling your fists up and slamming them tight against your side. “This is what he’s done,” you said, shoving the box you were holding with the card in his face. “And if you happen to see him, you can tell him that I’m looking for him.”
You went to leave, but Murphy blocked your exit saying, “wait a second here princess, don’t go and give me something like this and then take off. Let’s see what’s gotten your panties in a twist.”
“I knew it, it was your idea. I don’t get why you both have to always be so-” But before you could finish Steve had opened the box and saw what was inside it. Steve pulled out a pair of black lace panties that had a vibrator attached to them, and as he did he noticed the note at the bottom of the box. The note was written in Javi’s handwriting and said, “for all those lonely nights baby, when you’re so wound up and don’t have a man that can be inside you. Enjoy.” Signed, Javier Peña.
Murphy was shocked at what he saw and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. He knew Javi loved to rile you up, and he had to hand it to his partner, he definitely got you going. It was the perfect gift to get even for all those irritating moments the three of you had. But when he looked up at you he immediately froze, his laugh dying out in his throat. Your eyes were red and puffy now as frustrated tears streamed down your face. Steve could tell that the jokes maybe went a little too far this time.
“Sweetheart, we’re-”
“Don’t, just don’t Steve,” you said, grabbing the box and throwing everything back inside, not wanting to look up at him. “I get it, it’s a joke. A really fucking mean joke, ya know. You all can have any woman that you want. And here I am, in Columbia, and I can’t even get sleazy drug lords to choose me when I’m undercover. Shit, I couldn’t even keep my ex-fiance faithful on this day. You guys will find this hilarious, last year I found my ex fucking my sister. Apparently he never wanted me, wanted her cause now they’re getting married and having a baby and I’m not welcome around my family any more, cause I guess I can’t keep anyone happy. So nice of you to give the other girls flowers, and tell them how great they are when they don’t even fucking do anything for you. Meanwhile I have five bullet wounds and several cracked ribs for covering your asses. By the way, you guys are getting a raise in pay and I’m getting a 5 dollar reduction in pay. Apparently the superiors feel that it’ll give you guys motivation or something. So yeah, you’re right, perfect joke. Happy fucking Valentine’s Day to me.” And with that you left, slamming the door.
This was a joke that Peña and Murphy started with you about six months ago when you were placed undercover to go and try to extract information of the whereabouts of Pablo Escobar. They placed you at a brothel, knowing that some of Pablo’s higher up men were going to come to choose women to give them sexual favors for the night. With the help of a few informants, they had dressed you up and gave you pointers on how women acted in these places in Colombia. Javi had made a joke at you that you were the highest paid prostitute on the street, but when it came time for Pablo’s men to take you, you were the only one left behind. You weren’t ugly, you actually were quite beautiful, but that night Javi and Murphy had a hay day with you, as you were the only one that was not chosen. To make matters worse, you had gone out with them that night and couldn’t even get a guy to buy you a drink at the bar, let alone talk with you. And now the joke, you thought, had gone too far. Humiliated and embarrassed, you went and gathered your things and left to go home for the day, not wanting to see anyone again.
After you stormed out, and Murphy knew you were gone, he walked over to where Javi was, facing the back wall. “You got her vibrating panties?” Steve said, shaking his head and laughing.
“At the time, I thought it was a good idea. But something got lost in translation I suppose,” he said, still not wanting to leave his hiding spot.
“Peña, let me give you some advice. If you like a girl, don’t get her vibrating panties and then give her a card that says ‘for all those lonely nights when you don’t have a man.’ It just makes you look like an even bigger dick than what you already are.”
“Yeah, I realize that now,” he said, still not coming out of his hiding spot.
“Did ya know any of that other shit she was talking about?” Steve said, pulling a cigarette out and lighting it. Javi shook his head no as he came out of where he was hiding.
“Kinda fucked up if you ask me. Fucking her own sister and then marrying her. Talk about a cold hearted son of a bitch.”
“Yeah, I never knew. Fuck Murph, what do I do?”
“You already know what you gotta do man. Or do I need to call her back in here so she can spell it out for you?”
“Fuck you,” Javi said, walking out the door to go find you. He felt like the biggest dick right now. The gift and note wasn’t a joke from him, and he hated to think that you felt like it was.
Javi eventually learned that you had decided to go home for the day, leaving your work here. “She’s taking a sick day,” is what Maria, the secretary in the front office, had told him. Javi had attempted to get some paperwork done, but he kept thinking about you and how hurt you sounded when talking with Murphy. He didn’t mean for it to come off as a joke, in fact Javi wanted you to have the panties for a good reason, he wanted you to wear them for him.
Javi had been the biggest pain in your ass from the start. He was always coming over to your desk, forcing you to work through his work, making you work in the field with him, etc. To you it felt like he was punishing you for being good at your job. But in reality, he secretly liked you and wanted to be with you. Javi didn’t know why he couldn’t communicate his feelings to you, why he always had to make fun of you or rile you up. “I’m taking a sick day,” Javi told Murphy as he walked towards the door.
Murphy, who was still at his desk, said “Connie said she’s at home now.” Connie was one of your best friends here in Colombia. Being in a foreign country was hard, and making friends was even harder, especially what you did for a job. Your friends back at home disagreed with your career choice of being sent to Colombia, so your entire support structure was no longer there. Connie was one of the nicest women you had met or seen in the longest time. She understood your career choice, and didn’t hold it against you when your plans would change.
Javi had stopped and bought a dozen flowers from a street vendor before he got to your house. When he knocked on the door he softly said, “querida, I’m so sorry. Please open up, I didn’t mean to make you cry, I-”
“Who the fuck said you made me cry Peña?” you said, opening up the door suddenly, looking up at him with bloodshot eyes, tears at your lash line.
“No one I, Jesus woman, c’mere,” he said, stepping inside and placing the flowers on the end table by the door when he saw your face. He then reached for you, pulled you tight into his chest, holding you as the dam opened up again and the tears fell. “I’m so sorry baby, so sorry. I didn’t mean how it came out, fuck-”
“What did I do for you to hate me?” you said, voice muffled in his chest.
“Nothin’ baby, I don’t hate you, I-” he said, rubbing his hand up and down your back, trying to soothe you. This was not going the way that he had hoped.
“I mean, I pull extra duty, and am one of the strongest hitters on the team. Fuck Javi, I even have brought in more leads than Murphy and yet you publicly humiliate me.” You said, as a sob broke free from your mouth. You didn’t know why you were opening up, allowing Javi to attempt to soothe you. You just didn’t have it in you to fight right now, too emotionally worked up to even care.
“No, no, baby. It ain’t like that, look at me,” Javi said, pulling you away from his chest and gently cupping your face with his hands. “Querida, I got them for you and for me, for you to think about me.”
Shaking your head you stepped back and said, “what? Peña, what the fuck are you talking about for you and me? I’m not-”
“Shit, this ain’t coming out the way I wanted it to,” Javi said, pacing back and forth in your living room. Javi was mumbling to himself, unsure of how to deal with the situation and correct it. Not knowing how to place it into words, his feelings, he thought that he could show you. He immediately reached for you and kissed you hard on the lips. Javi, once again, was hoping the kiss would show you that he cared, but all you read was he was being condescending once again. You immediately pulled back and found your strength and slapped Javi hard across his face.
“Javi, what the fuck do you think you’re doing? Just because I’m crying, trying to understand why the guy I have a crush on hates me, doesn’t give you the right to-”
“I like you,” he said, rubbing the sting site he felt across his cheek. Damn that woman could hit hard, he thought to himself. You continued to talk overtop of him, not realizing what he just said. You kept saying how much of an asshole he’s been to you and how much you hate men as you’ve always been taken advantage of. Javi shook his head at you, hearing words such as dickhead, asshole along with other words such as, pendejo and cabrón. You kept telling him off, not listening to anything that he had just told you.
With a sarcastic laugh, he said, “I can’t fucking believe you, you don’t listen baby.” He was now getting just as frustrated at you for not listening to him. She says I don’t listen, hell, she doesn’t listen.
All you heard was ‘I can’t fucking believe you’ and nothing else. Once again, you marched over to smack Javi hard across the face. But this time, he caught your hand mid-air saying, “I don’t think so cariño. You only get one free hit, and you already used it up for today.”
The sadness that you felt earlier had now turned into blinding anger and rage. You started fighting back. You were done with men treating you like assholes, for cheating on you with your sister, for not listening to you or even attempt at paying attention. You started hitting Javi’s chest, yelling at him and saying, “you’re an asshole,” over and over again. You were throwing a temper tantrum, frustrated about the last few days, and Javi was your outlet. However, Javi didn’t see your attitude nor behavior as enduring or even cute. Him, having about enough of you using him as a physical punching bag, decided to take matters into his own hands to calm you down. He grabbed your hand and threw it behind your back, slamming you to the ground while yelling, “Enough.”
You kept trying to kick him, to hurt him more. You weren’t part of this planet anymore, you just saw red at reliving every shitty moment for the last six years. Of taking the smacks to the face your boyfriend gave you when he was drunk and you questioned why he had red lipstick stains on his shirt and around his cock as you undressed him from a night out with his friends. What you didn’t know is that it was your sister’s lips that were around him, and not some other woman. It didn’t make those moments easier, but you always thought that maybe it was just a one night stand, not a five year long relationship behind your back.
You kept kicking Javi, yelling that you were done with people hurting you, clearly not seeing him anymore. To help calm you down, Javi maneuvered his body so he was sitting on your ass, with your arm behind your back. Your chest was laying flat on the floor, his chest then tight on your back as he snarled in your ear, “you’re gonna stop this shit, right now, stop trying to hit me.”
“Fuck you David-” you said, not realizing that you called him your ex.
“I’m not him baby. I never was, nor will I ever be him. So stop calling me David, my name isn’t fucking David.” Javi growled in your ear, leaning harder into you to get you to calm down.
You finally relaxed at hearing Javi speak to you, reminding yourself that he wasn’t your ex. As soon as you relaxed Javi released your arm, but stayed firm against you, hands on both sides of your head as he breathed hard and fast at the fight that you gave him. It was then that you remembered everything that Javi and you were, everything that you were alone.
Sometimes at night when you couldn’t sleep you’d go back into work and find Javi working alone at his desk. He’d always come over and ask you why you were showing up at work around midnight on a day where you just placed in 12 hours. Alone the two of you would always find moments where you could be soft with each other. He’d order you both greasy pizza to eat at night and he’d tease you of picking off all the pepperoni. Nights where you were scared to be home alone, he’d take you back to his house and you’d sleep in his bed when he slept on the couch. When you got shot several times, after you were discharged home, he’d stay with you in your apartment. He even slept next to you on your bed a few times.
He also bathed you when you got sick with a fever from the infection of the bullet wounds, and nursed you back to health for several weeks. If you were being honest, Javi was your best friend when the two of you were alone. But at work, he was the biggest dickhead. You were jealous when he started flirting with the new secretary that came in, Phillis, and hated when you saw him at the brothel down the street. Javi never attempted sex with you, and honestly, it upset you. You wanted him, but apparently he never wanted you. So at work you took out your frustration the only way you knew how, you became a pain in his ass like he was a pain in yours.
But when Javi didn’t move, continuing to breathe hard in and out, you knew that something had changed. You went to move your ass and immediately he hissed “don’t” as his hips stayed tight against yours, not moving nor letting you up. After a moment of submitting to him you heard him ask in a strained voice “are you calm enough for me to move or do we have to keep you like this for a little longer?”
You didn’t know why you felt like saying it out loud, but you didn’t want to play this game of not being honest with him anymore. “I’ve calmed down, but Javi, I’d like it if you stay like this for a little while, hell you can even push deeper into me if you want.” You gave Javi a little wiggle of your ass at his statement.
The air around the two of you changed, thickening with sexual tension. “Shit baby, ya can’t say that to me,'' he said, slightly leaning forward and pushing his crotch tighter to your ass. You felt him slightly rock back and forth, groaning at the feel of you beneath him.
You slightly arched your back, pushing up so he could kiss your neck. When you changed the position both of you moaned loud in unison, feeling his hips slowly grind harder into you. You never remembered feeling this good by just letting a man grind into you, but fuck, Javi was slowly making you feel feral.
“Javi, I don’t-” you said slowly.
“No,” He growled, not wanting you to tell him to stop. He couldn’t take it anymore, couldn’t hold back. He wanted so desperately to be deep inside of your warm cunt that he was struggling right now to keep his composure. “Fuck hermosa, feel what you do to me.”
But you were, you felt how much Javi wanted you and you knew how much you wanted him. You laid there and let him slowly grind his hips into you again until something snapped inside.
“Javi, fuck me,” you said, pushing your ass harded back into him.
Javi immediately stilled his hips at your statement, looking down at you, trying to determine if what you were asking was what he thought. When he didn’t respond again, you said with a little more bite, “Javi, you gave me a vibrator for all those lonely nights when I don’t have a man’s dick inside of me. Please, I don’t want to use the vibrator tonight. For once on Valentine’s Day I want a man inside me that fucking cares. If you really care, please give me that.”
You felt Javi get off from you and walk away, towards the door, rustling around with something. You laid face down in the middle of your living room, tears welling up in your eyes at being rejected once again. You hated this fucking holiday, but when you let out a little sniffle you felt his hand cup your chin, turning you to the side. With the softest eyes possible he said, “come on now, no more crying. Now up you go,” as he helped you stand. Once you were standing he smiled down at you and then gave you a slow tender kiss on the lips. When he pulled back he held out the black lace panties in front of your face.
“Here, I bought these for you. Now, go and put them on, and let me see them on you. Then I’m gonna fuck you like you deserve, like a man that’s wanted to be with you from the moment he laid eyes on you. Fuck what you stupid ex did to you last year-”
“And every year before,” you said softly.
Javi’s eyes got impossibly dark, anger and lust mixing with them. He hated your ex, the man that broke you. If Javi had to spend the rest of his life showing you that you deserved more, then he would do it. Fuck his superiors, or anyone else that thought he and you shouldn’t be together.
“The fact that you say that makes me angry that any man would ever-”
“Forget it Javi, it’s-”
“No. Now pay attention sweetheart, cause I’m only gonna say it once. No man should ever make you feel like this, ever, you hear me? Now, go put them on baby, and let me see you in them. Then, I’m gonna take you to bed and show you how a man is supposed to treat the woman he cares about.”
“Oh, and how’s that Peña, what are you gonna do that makes me forget all the stupid shit other men have done?” You said, playfully nudging Javi and his cockiness that you have found you love.
Javi grabbed you by the hair and tilted your head back while whispering above you, “I’m gonna fuck you so good that you’re gonna forget every man before me, baby. Then I’m gonna show you how a real man treats the woman he’s crazy over. It’s just you and me, and I’ll remind you of that every night before we go to sleep. There’s no one’s pussy I’d rather be buried in than yours. I only want to be balls deep in you, and not anyone else.” Javi then slammed his lips onto yours and gave you a kiss like you deserved.
Maybe you had to have David be in your life and screw you over, because without him, you’d never have met Javier Peña. Javi was a real man that made good on his promises, of being the man that you needed. Before the night was over, and after you came down from your intense rough sex with him, you found yourself looking into his eyes and seeing the potential for a future once again. As Javi slowly rocked into you, making slow love at the end, he whispered, “you’re mine cariño, and I’m never letting you go.” And that was the thing that tipped you both over the edge, moaning each other’s names and kissing each other like you both had just found your future soulmate.
Javi did make good on his promises, he never let you go.

Slip-ups
Pairing: Pedro Pascal x actress!reader
Date: Jan 2019
Warnings: none I think but maybe a hint of something.
A/N: this is from y/n's POV and can be a 2nd part of the series but this is a long way from that. yeahhh. Hope you guys like this!!
Y/N L/N Answers the Web’s Most Searched Questions
“Good Afternoon, this is Y/n L/n and this is the wired autocomplete interview,” you started with the most monotonous voice you could ever make
-Autocomplete suggests the most common searcher on the internet-
“I am very excited, I’ve been wanting to do this since like forever but you guys never invited me, which was sad,” the camera then proceeds to zoom in your faces as you looked at the lens with a very menacing look.
-So WIRED asked Y/N L/N some of the internet’s burning questions-
Giggling to yourself, you sat back and took the first board that was given to you.
With a bright smile you said “Alrighty WIRED let’s do thisss!!!”
“Is y/n l/n.related to Sarah Paulson” with a scoff you shook your head and released a very breathy “NNOooooooo”
“ But I’ve been asked this questions a couple times now and as much as I want to be related to Sarah, we are not.”
You looked back at the board, read it a few more times then nodded.
“ But we are sisters though, just not by blood.”
-Cut-
“ Is y/n l/n Elizabeth Swann”
“Oh!! Yup I am the Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean” you explained as soon as the question was revealed
“ did you know that not many people knew I was in that movie? And the reason?” You excitedly asked as you looked at the staff behind the camera.
“Was my fucking dark blonde hair!! Now hold on before you guys on the internet hate on me, let me explain.”
Hands up in a surrendering position you began “Look I loved that role, the series, the people, Orlando Bloom,..” You winked” but blonde just doesn’t suit me, AT ALL, and keeping that hair as blonde as it can is a freaking nightmare so after I’ve finished wrapping up the last of that film series I told myself never EVER!! Take a role that needed my hair to be dyed.”
-Cut-
“ Is y/n l/n a sagittarius”
Smiling to yourself as you recall a memory, you look down and answered “ Yes, yes I am because as you all know I was born on December 1987- GOSH I’m old” you cut yourself as you’ve registered the words that were said.
“But that is all I can tell you, 'cause I’m not that much into horoscopes or zodiacs or whatever but Pe-“ you cut yourself once again.” But uhmmm, someone once told me that I am the "embodiment" of the Sagittarius sign and that we sagi babes are most compatible with an Aries?? I think”
A small smile was seen on your face as the video cuts to the next question.
-Cut-
“ Are y/n l/n and Pedro Pascal friends”
"Hhmmm are we? I mean we hang out, send tiktoks to each other, and he steals my fuzzy socks a lot….” you nod off while listing all the things Pedro has done to you in the past week, in mind.
“ I guess we are friends? nO, I’m just kidding we are, the best might I add”
You beamed at the lens as you rattled on, “of course we’re friends, we’ve been friends for quite a while now and I thank sister Sarah for that. But yeah, I mean who wouldn’t want to be friends with that guy?”
You once again looked at the staff who was nodding at you to continue.
“ He’s friendly, goofy, a great storyteller, and actor” you winked again that was accompanied by a snort, “and a great person in general…ah he also shares his empanadas so that makes him an even Better Greater person HAHA!!”
You then throw the board to the ground as you jump out of your seat
-Cut-
“Who does y/n l/n play in Narcos”
“ I play a DEA agent from Barcelona, Spain named Catalina “Lina” Mendoza, she is the love interest of Javier Pena and who is played by the one and only Jose Pedro Balmaceda Pascal, who is the partner of Boyd Holbrook aka Steve Murphy” proudly you crossed your arms and leaned back in the chair.
-Cut-
“What is y/n l/n first movie”
“Ahh this is a great question, uhmmm my first movie was released way back in ’99 and it’s called the sixth sense. Which was a great experience and opened up my little 11-year-old mind up more into the acting industry.” You answered while thinking back on that more to add.
“ I mean it is a minor role but I got to meet Bruce Willis and act with a very close friend of mine, Trevor Morgan.” You added before looking back at the board.
-Cut-
“What is y/n l/n doing now”
“Since this will be released, I don’t know, a few days or weeks from now I’d try to answer what I would be doing at that time” you scratch your chin as you think of what you would do without saying too much.
“I would either be at home, chilling, drinking wine, while watching a movie OR” you exaggerate, “ I’d be out partying or hanging out with a few friends of mine, yeah I think that’s about it.”
-cut-
“ How can I meet y/n l/n”
Laughing you said, “Well, I’ll probably be in my favourite cafe during my spare time so maybe you guys can drop by and have the courage to say hi,” you tease but was followed by an “I'd rather have you do that instead of taking a, what you think is a discreet, picture of me and the one person I’m with” you ended with a forced smile.
-Cut-
“How old was y/n l/n when Pedro Pascal”
“Guys is this asking what I think it's asking HAHAHAHA” you burst out with a laugh while kind of nervous that you would say something out of line.
“ Well uhm, if you’re asking how old I was when we met, we met through Sarah way back in early 2012 she invited me for a new year's party, so that makes me 24??” You answered with an eyebrow raised.
“ Buuutt,” you dragged.”If you guys are asking about that scene in the second season of Narcos, that you guys are thirsting on about. I would be at around 27 years while shooting that I think. Sooo yeah. Kids don’t ask about those narcos scenes please, better yet don’t watch it until you’re like 25 or 50”
-Cut-
“ How tall is -“
“ No No! I won’t be answering that question yo-“
-Cut-
With a huff you looked at the camera, “ I am 5 foot 3....and a half…. On good days I'd be 5'4 and 5'5 with heels. But hey I’m not even that small, the people around me are just giant abnormal-looking non-human beings” you point at the lens
“YES YES IM TALKING TO YOU MISTER PASCAL, so stop teasing me”
-Cut-
“Ooh would you look at that the last question!”
Ripping the paper as fast as you can it says “Can y/n l/n dance?”
You noticeably perked up at this but before you can answer a voice came from behind the camera and said “No!”
“ Hey! I mean I’m not a good dancer but I can dance properly you know. I flow with the vibe of the music you know what i’m saying!!! Yeah?”
-Cut-
You were seen grinning before you were called on camera.
Throwing the board behind you once again you say “ Well WIRED, that was certainly interesting and this might be one of the most... chill... interviews I’ve been on! Can’t wait to do more! Bye!!”

It seemed everyone in this damn building was talking about their plans for Valentines Day. Everyone except for you. Today was just a normal Thursday. You shook your head, trying to clear your mind as you made your way through the bustle of the DEA headquarters. There was no use in giving it any more thought. Love was overrated anyway, right? You dropped off some paperwork to the director’s secretary and headed back to your own desk in the Embassy. The clacking keys of typewriters and sharp ringing of telephones hummed around you as you crossed the room, and you narrowly avoided a collision with an agent with his head stuck in file. The sound of your name being called across the bullpen made you stop in your tracks.
You scanned the room to see Steve Murphy, smiling at you from his office door. You smiled warmly in return and made your way over to him. Steve and his wife Connie had welcomed you with open arms when you first arrived in Colombia. They had taken you under their wing and the three of you had become close over the last 6 months, frequently sharing dinners at their apartment with their adopted daughter, Olivia, and occasionally Steve’s partner, Javier Peña.
Javi….he was always an enigma to you. He was handsome and a shameless flirt. He was quick with a line and a smile, and he used it to his advantage. There wasn’t a woman that worked in this building that hadn’t been subjected to his charms, and you were no exception. Of course, you had a thing for him. How could you not, with his aquiline nose and pouty lips that just begged to be kissed. You’d spent enough time with him to know him pretty well, but he held you at arm’s length, never letting you get too close. He seemed content to keep it that way and you let him. It’s not like you actually had a chance with him anyway.
“Hey Steve, what’s up?” You studied him as he grinned at you in that goofy way he always did. That smile reminded you of your brother and it made you miss him. Maybe you should call him and check in.
“I need a huge favor.” he asked with a soft smile.
You groaned softly. You hoped Connie wasn’t trying to set you up on another blind date. The last one was an absolute disaster.
“I don’t like the sound of this.” Your eyes narrowed. “What did you do this time?”
He chuckled and crossed his arms across his chest. “I didn’t do anything. I need a babysitter on Saturday. I was able to score reservations at that new restaurant downtown for Valentine’s Day. Connie’s been dying to try it since they opened, and I thought that it would be a nice surprise for her.”
You chuckled softly. “And you thought that your little spinster friend would be free on the most romantic night of the year?”
“You just haven’t mentioned any one special lately, so I thought you’d be free.” He cocked his head. “Why are you calling yourself a spinster, anyway? You’re gorgeous.”
The familiar combination of cigarette smoke and aftershave hit your nostrils before you saw him, and your breath hitched. Steve’s eyes darted over your shoulder, and you followed his gaze. “Ain’t that right, Javi?” The turquoise button-down shirt and tight dark wash jeans accentuated his biceps and his cinched waist. Javi appraised you, arching his brow and quickly raking up and down your body. “Sure, you’re at least a 7, princess.” He teased in the way only he could, flashing you that grin that made your knees weak. Your hands curled into fists at your sides.
Princess. That word single handedly made your blood boil and your stomach flip at the same time.
“Thanks, Javi.” you shot back, rolling your eyes. He moved closer to Steve’s office door, crowding you with his broad frame. “What are you two talking about anyway?”
“I’m trying to get our friend here to babysit for me and Connie on Saturday.” Steve grinned, his puppy dog eyes staring you down.
“I’ll babysit for you.” You said. “I’d love to spend some time with Olivia.”
Javi wasted no time and butted in. This was his chance to get you alone and he was going to take it.
Javi smiled, his eyes dancing. “Why don’t I join you? I don’t have any plans for V-day either. What’d ya say, princess? Want some company for babysitting duty?”
Your words failed you and you just looked at him, your eyes wide. His chocolate chip eyes stared down at you, waiting for you to speak.
“Ummm….” You stammered, your nails digging into your palms. “Sure. Why not?”
He gave you a crooked grin and nothing else.
“What time do you need me?” Your head swiveled back to Steve.
“Six o’clock?”
“I’ll be there.” You flashed a quick smile and turned on your heels.
“See ya then, princess.” Javi shouted to your retreating form.
You knocked on the apartment door at 5:50 pm, tapping your foot rhythmically as you wait. Olivia’s laughter seeped through the door and the tension drained from your shoulders. Connie’s smiling face greeted you a moment later. “Thank you so much for watching Liv for us.”
“It’s no problem at all. You know I love spending time with her.” You smiled warmly at her and walked over to the couch, making yourself comfortable. “You look amazing, by the way. You’re going to have to let me borrow that dress sometime.”
Steve came around the corner bouncing Olivia in his arms while she laughed. The sight made your chest tighten. “Look who’s here, Liv.” The little girl gave you the biggest smile and you stood to take her from her father’s arms.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun tonight, huh?”
Olivia giggled and grabbed for your necklace.
You and Connie chatted idly, while Steve headed into the kitchen. A knock on the door interrupted the conversation.
“Hey, Javi!” Steve ushered him into the living room.
Javi’s eyes settled on you, his hands clenching into fists then relaxing. His chin jutted forward almost imperceptibly. Even in a simple T-shirt and jeans, you still managed to make him want you even though he knew he shouldn’t.
Why did he have to wear that plaid shirt? You thought to yourself as he sat down in the armchair adjacent to the couch. The red and white plaid shirt stretched across the broad expanse of his shoulders. Your heart began to beat a little bit faster, and you bit the inside of your cheek.
“Babe…. we’d better head out or we’re going to be late.” Connie stood and you watched as Steve helped Connie with her coat. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and nuzzled her neck. You sighed quietly and looked away.
“Have a great time.” You take Olivia’s hand to wave at her parents. “Bye Mommy and Daddy.”
Connie leaned down and kissed Olivia’s cheek. “Be good for your Auntie and Uncle.” She looked at you. “Call us if you need anything.”
“There’s beer in the fridge.” Steve said, his eyes darting between you and Javi. “You two behave yourselves. That’s a brand-new couch you’re sitting on.” He wiggled his eyebrows.
The click of the door latching echoed in your ears, making you painfully aware of the fact you and Javi were alone. The television droned in the background as the two of you looked at each other.
“I…” you both start. The sound of your combined nervous laughter made Olivia join in with her own forced laugh, breaking some of the awkward tension that had been building between you. Your eyes snap back to Javi as he clears his throat.
“You first.” His lips lift into a crooked grin.
“I was just going to say that I’m surprised that you were serious about babysitting with me tonight. I thought you’d have a hot date tonight.” He hadn’t mentioned that he had been seeing anyone lately, but maybe he was just keeping it quiet for now.
His throaty chuckle filled your ears. “Why would I want to shell out big bucks on Valentine’s Day when I get to have two pretty girls all to myself tonight?” He teased. His trademark smirk flashed across his face, but his eyes betrayed him with a softness that made the blood rush directly to your cheeks. His eyes flitted away from yours.
You opened your mouth to ask him what he was about to say but Olivia had other plans. She grabbed at your shirt and let out a whine. You realized she was probably hungry. Connie had told you she’d prepared Liv’s dinner and put it in the fridge. “You hungry, bug?” Her babbles confirmed your suspicions, and you sat her on the floor in front of her toys while you warmed up her dinner.
Although the night had started awkwardly, you and Javi settled into comfortable conversation. The pizza he’d ordered had just been delivered and you put Olivia in her highchair with her own dinner in front of her.
“The pizza here is good.” You told him as he took a bite of his slice, “but it’s got nothing on the pizza back home.”
His brow arched. “Oh yeah?”
You never talked about your home much. The subject never really came up in conversation between the two of you.
“Yeah.” You said with a smirk. “There’s this small pizza joint there…. It’s the best pizza in the world. I would fight anyone on that.”
The sound of his chuckle reverberated through your entire body and his eyes settled on you. “That’s pretty big talk, maybe I’ll have to try it sometime.” He finished his slice and wiped his hands on a napkin. “Anything else special about your hometown?”
You told him more about your hometown, and he told you about Laredo as you finished eating. Olivia, never one to sit still for long, voiced her impatience and you lifted her from her highchair.
“I’ll clean up.” he volunteered, causing you to raise your eyebrows.
“Don’t look so surprised.” he smirked.
You laughed and adjusted Olivia on your hip. “If you insist. Liv and I will be playing in the living room.”
You spread some toys out on the living room floor and sat Olivia down. You stretched out on the floor, stacking some blocks in a pyramid. Olivia babbled and knocked them down, causing you to laugh softly. The sound of his footsteps made you both look up at him. Olivia grabbed a block and held it out to him. “You want Uncle Javi to play? Say ‘Come play with me, Uncle Javi’” Your eyes drifted up to meet his, your eyes twinkling at the double meaning behind those words.
Javi’s hands immediately went to his hips, his left knee jutting out slightly. His eyes darkened as his tongue pressed against his cheek. His eyes darted to the floor then back at you. You smirked as he turned away, your confidence soaring at the fact that you’d managed to rattle him, even if it was only a little. “Maybe Uncle Javi needs a minute.”
Javi stood with his back to you, willing himself to calm down; He wasn’t a man to get flustered easily. The idea of playing with you made him hard. He thought about football…..the amount of paperwork on his desk….anything to stop thinking about you.
A few moments later, he spun back around with the cool, confident mask firmly back in place. He didn’t acknowledge what had just passed between you and you let it slide, not wanting to push your luck. He sat down on the floor with you and picked up a block, smiling at Olivia.
The three of you played on the floor, you and Javi taking turns with the blocks and watching Olivia squeal with delight as she knocked them down. You wondered if you would ever have this……the man and the baby. Maybe it wasn’t in the cards for you. Maybe you were always meant to be on the outside looking in.
Olivia’s yawn snapped you from your thoughts. You smiled as Olivia pouted and rubbed her eyes. “Looks like someone’s getting sleepy.” You sat up and gathered the little girl into your arms. “Let’s get you to bed, little one.” A warm feeling flowed through you as Olivia nestled her head into your shoulder. You cuddled her closer, relishing the feeling of someone needing you.
As you walked the hall to her room, she began to cry. Soft sobs filled your ears, and it broke your heart. “Hey, it’s okay babygirl.” You tried your best to soothe her as you bounced her lightly in your arms. Her sobs only grew louder as you paced her room, murmuring soft words into her ear. It seemed the more you tried, the louder she got. You tried everything you could think of, but nothing seemed to help. The sound of her cries made your stomach drop. You tried to think about what Connie would do if she were here as Olivia’s wails grew even louder. “I know I’m not your mama, but I’m trying kiddo.” Panic gripped you as you struggled to calm her. It shouldn’t be this hard to calm a crying baby, right? You couldn’t just let her continue to cry like this, you had to do something, but you were at a loss. Tears stung your eyes as you desperately racked your brain for the magical solution to your problem.
Javi silently watched you as struggled in vain to soothe Olivia. The nightlight in the corner cast a soft glow over you, highlighting your features in a way that made his breath catch in his throat. You looked beautiful holding a child in your arms, even if that child was currently wailing in your ear. It reminded him of a life he could have had if he had done things differently. A life that he still wanted but was afraid to reach for. He lived in a dangerous world, and he couldn’t ask someone, ask you, to sign up for that; but fuck if he didn’t want to.
“Do you think I could try?” Javi’s voice carried over the sound of Olivia’s cries. A wave of relief washed over you as you saw his unmistakeable frame leaning against the doorway.
“Please….” You said as you handed Olivia to him. “I’m out of ideas.”
“What seems to be the problem here, bebecita?” he cooed. “Did your auntie pinch you?” He chuckled softly at his own joke. Olivia wailed even louder, clearly not impressed by his attempt at humor.
You leaned against the wall as he paced the small room, bouncing the Olivia in his arms. He spoke to her softly, murmuring sweet words in Spanish. Olivia seemed to respond to him, her wails lessening in intensity. The tension you were holding in your shoulders began to slowly melt away and you closed your eyes.
“Duermete mi nino (sleep my child)…..duermete mi amor (sleep my love)…..” Javi crooned quietly.
Your eyes immediately snapped open. He was singing to her. Your chest tightened as the words of the lullaby floated to your ears. Holding a baby looks so good on him. The tenderness in his voice was unexpected and you ached to know that side of him. The image of Javi holding a child the two of you created danced in your head as he continued to sing slightly offkey. You tried to shake the image from your head, but it was no use, it was seared into your brain.
“Duermete pedazo de mi corazon (sleep little piece of my heart)….” Olivia was fast asleep on his shoulder by the time he finished the song. He gently laid her in her crib, covering her with a blanket. He looked to you, pressing a thick finger to his lips and motioned toward the door. The two of you quietly crept out of the room, closing the door behind you.
You couldn’t wipe the smile from your face as the two of you plopped down onto the couch.
“Why are you smiling like that?” He asked. His eyes held a look you’d never seen from him before.
You shifted uncomfortably in your seat, the heat rising to your cheeks. What are you talking about?”
He smirked at you, making your face heat up even more. “You know exactly what I’m talking about, princess. What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”
You looked away for just a moment before meeting his gaze again. “You were so good with her. Where did you learn to do that?” His smile made you want to lean in and kiss him, but you held back.
“I grew up in a large family, lots of cousins. There were always babies around.” His eyes fell to the floor. “My mom used to sing that song to me and my little sister when we were little.” The raucous melody of the cartoons you had on for Olivia cut sharply through the sudden shift in your conversation.
“It was a beautiful song.” You offer, not knowing exactly what to say. That was the most personal thing he’d ever shared with you. The silence lingered as you struggled to come up with the perfect thing to say to cut the tension in the room. “Even if it was offkey.”
His eyes jerked up to meet yours, his signature smirk plastered to his face. “You think you could do better?” he teased. Laughter drowned out the din of the television. “Probably not.” You admitted.
You let go of a breath you didn’t realize you were holding. Your heart raced a little bit faster at the realization of how close you came to confessing your feelings. Did you see something in his eyes before he looked away? You couldn’t be sure, and you certainly weren’t going to ask. You settled back into your seat on the couch and searched for the remote. “I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough cartoons for a while.”
Javi’s large hand engulfed the remote as he held it up. “Found it.” You immediately reached for it, but he held it out of your grasp. “Finder’s keepers, princess.” he teased. “I’m choosing what we watch.”
Your bottom lip jutted out and you narrowed your eyes. For a split second, you contemplated trying to fight him for it, but your head won out in the end. Sinking back into the couch, you admitted defeat. “Fine” you pouted, “just don’t pick anything stupid, okay?”
He laughed, the sound filling your stomach with butterflies. The smirk plastered to his face as he started flipping channels.
“I’m grabbing a beer.” You stood from the couch, stretching your arms above your head. “You want one?”
You notice his eyes on you and quickly lowered your arms, suddenly aware that your shirt was riding up, giving him the perfect view of your stomach.
He noticed that you noticed, and he cleared his throat, dragging his eyes away from your body. “I’d love one, thanks.”
Javi let out a deep breath. He’d come so close to telling you how much he wanted you. He wanted to take you in his arms and show you just how deeply he felt for you. That was his plan when he showed up tonight, but now that he was so close to you; he was chickening out. He’d only hurt you in the end, he’d find a way to mess it up.
You returned with two cold beers, and you offer him a bottle. Your fingers brush against his, sending sparks through your body. Settling back into the couch, you tucked your legs under you and took a long drag from your bottle. The cool liquid slides down your throat easily as you try to focus your attention on the television. He finally settled on something and leaned back into the couch. His legs deliciously spread wide, dangerously close to yours despite the distance between you. The heat was radiating from his body, and you struggled to maintain your focus on the movie he chose.
The two of you watched in silence, drinking your beer. It’s comfortable in a strange way and you find yourself wanting more of this. Just being in each other’s presence, not needing words. You could almost imagine this being a normal evening at home, curled up next to him on the couch with your head on his shoulder.
His laugh snaps you from your thoughts. Your attention is drawn back to the movie and it’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever seen.
“You actually like this movie?” You grimace at the absurd scene on the screen.
“How can you not like this movie? It’s a goddamn classic!” He took a long drag from his beer and peered at you over the bottle.
Your brow furrowed. “That’s debatable, but whatever you say, Javi.”
“Just give it a chance, princess. It gets better, I promise.”
A playful scoff erupts from your lips. “It better or I’m never letting you pick the movie again.” The heat rises to your cheeks again. This isn’t a date and your eyes dart toward him to see his reaction. His eyes were focused on the screen, but his moustache twitched slightly. You bit your lip and prayed he wouldn’t say anything. He didn’t but you could’ve sworn he moved a little closer to you.
The credits had barely started to roll when you snatched the remote of his thigh. “My turn!” Your lips curve into a playful smirk as you point the remote at the television. He reached for the remote and you swat his hand away.
“Oh….so that’s how it’s going to be.” He smirked back at you.
You weren’t going to back down, even though you knew he could easily wrestle it away from you if he wanted. “Yep.” You responded; the cockiness dripped from the word.
His jaw twitched and his eyebrows raised. Without warning, he leaned forward and grabbed for the remote. You stopped him with a hand to his chest and tsked. “Didn’t your mother ever teach you to share?” she teased. His eyes narrowed as you laughed.
“You’re asking for it, princess…..I fight dirty.” A devilish smirk formed on his lips.
“Ooooh, I’m so scared.” You rolled your eyes knowing that the size difference between you meant you didn’t stand a chance but part of you wanted to see what he would do.
Without warning, he pounced. He reached out for the remote again and somehow you kept it just out of his reach. The sound of your laughter filled the room. His tongue darted out to wet his full lips and then he descended on you.
He grabbed you by the waist and tickled you. Your shriek pierced the silence, and you covered your mouth to keep from walking up Olivia. He was relentless as he leaned into you, pinning your back against the armrest, tickling you mercilessly. You pulled your hand away from your mouth, laughing and struggling to breathe.
“Javi, please….” you laugh as you squirmed in his grasp.
“Oh, now you want mercy?” he teased, tickling you even harder with a smirk on his face.
“Okay, okay. You win. I give up……I give up!” Your breath is ragged, and tears leak from your eyes from laughing so hard.
You suck in a deep breath as he finally stops tickling you, but he doesn’t move away. He had you caged in with his muscular arms. He just stared at you, and you found it impossible to hold his intense gaze. You can feel the heat radiating from his body. His lips, so soft and full, were close enough to yours to feel his breath against your cheeks. His hand cupped your cheek and suddenly his lips were on yours. You froze, unable to process what was happening and he pulled back. His brow furrowed and his brown eyes searched your wide eyes.
“What are you doing?” You weakly croaked out.
Javi chuckled softly and smirked. “What does it look like I’m doing?”
Your face burns with heat. What an idiotic thing to say. Of course you know what he’s doing. What you want to know is why, but your pride keeps you from asking. You already knew the answer.
“Haven’t you noticed the way I flirt with you is different from the way I flirt with the other women at the office?” His voice is low and husky and for once he’s the one having a hard time keeping your gaze.
You shook your head slowly and your brows furrowed. Maybe you had noticed, but you thought it was because he could never possibly be interested in you romantically. You never let yourself entertain the thought of him wanting you in that way.
“It’s because you’re not like them, princess…. you’re different.” The corner of his mouth twitched into a crooked grin. He gently tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
You blinked rapidly, thinking that you’re imagining this. You’ve been wanting to hear these words for so long. Suddenly, it feels like all the air has been sucked out of the room and your lungs fight for oxygen.
“Javi….” He immediately cut you off with a finger to your lips.
His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he exhaled loudly through nose. He shouldn’t tell you this, but it’s too late. He’s already kissed you once and now he wants more; he’s too far gone.
“Just let me say this, please.” You watch his eyes close for a moment, then open again; His brown eyes intensely focused on you. “I have feelings for you, princess……. I want to give you everything.” His eyes narrow slightly. “Would you give me that chance?” His voice is pleading, bordering on desperate.
You nodded, too overwhelmed to speak. You had wanted this for so long and now it was finally happening. The slight hum from the baby monitor filled the room as you continued to stare at each other. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, his tongue darted out to wet his lips.
His thumb brushed your bottom lip as he looked into your eyes. Your skin tingled with the sensation, and you somehow resisted the urge to take the thick digit into your mouth and suck it. The rise and fall of your chest matched the pounding of your heart as he slowly leaned in and captured your lips with his.
His tongue touched your lips, and you parted them without a second thought, allowing him access to your mouth.
This feels like heaven. You had dreamt about what it would feel like to kiss him and the reality is better than you could have ever imagined. His kiss was surprisingly gentle, his soft tongue probed your mouth with a quiet intensity that made you throb for more.
His large hand cupped the back of your head as he gently pushed you down into the couch. His breath was quick and heavy as he leaned into you. His nose pressed against you as he deepened the kiss, pushing you further underneath him.
The rest of the world was completely forgotten as you pulled him even closer to you, snaking your fingers into his dark hair. Your tongues danced to a perfect rhythm as you both lost yourself in desire.
His hand found the hem of your shirt and his fingers slowly crept under the fabric. A soft moan escaped you as he finally came into contact with your bare skin. His calloused fingers skated across the smooth skin of your stomach, brushing across your ribcage, moving higher at a painfully slow pace surely designed to drive you insane.
The taste of the cherries mixed with the bitterness of the beer on your lips made his head swim. The way you had parted your lips for his tongue......God, he wanted to devour you. He wanted to take you right here on this couch and claim you as his.
He settled into the cradle of your thighs, his growing bulge pressing firmly against your aching heat. “Fuck, cariño.” The words left his lips in a breathy whisper, the want blanketing you like a thick fog blinding you to anything other than him. Your tongue licked into his mouth hungrily, almost desperately. His tongue pushed back against yours with equal force, letting you know he was just as much into this as you were. The ornamental clock on the wall ticking to the pace of your breathing as you fell deeper under his spell.
Javi’s thick fingers traced the lace of your bra, the thin material leaving little between his hand and your skin. Your breath faltered as his thumb brushed across your nipple until it sharpened under his ministrations. He quietly moaned his approval into your mouth along with a more forceful thrust of his tongue. Your back arched, pushing your body into his hand…..the desire pooling at your core.
Neither one of you heard the click of the latch as the front door swung open.
“Oh, fuck!” Steve’s voice brought you both crashing back to reality.
Javi’s head snapped up, his eyes wide and mouth agape. You scrambled out from underneath him, tugging at your shirt in a desperate attempt to cover up.
Steve chuckled and shook his head. His eyes danced between the two of you and he smirked. “I knew you two fuckers wouldn’t be able to keep your hands off each other.” His keys clanked against the bowl, and he shot a glance at Connie trying to suppress her giggles. “There better not be any cum stains on my couch.”
Javi’s jaw twitched as he moved away from you but otherwise, he was the picture of calm, not a shred of embarrassment shown on his beautiful face. You, on the other hand, were a different story. Your face burned as your eyes bored holes into the floor. You couldn’t even bring yourself to look at Connie or Steve, even though the smile on your face could have lit up the darkest night. You were embarrassed about being caught but you didn’t regret a single moment of what happened between you and Javi on that couch. You swallowed your feelings of embarrassment and lifted your chin. You weren’t a teenager who’d just been caught making out with your boyfriend by your parents, you were an adult and you had nothing to be ashamed of.
“Did you enjoy the restaurant?” You asked Connie, changing the subject to calm your racing heart.
“Oh my god, it was amazing! The food was ridiculous. You would love it.” Her eyes darted to Javi and the subtle raise of her brow didn’t go unnoticed by you.
“I’m glad you had such a great time.” The two of you chatted briefly about how Olivia did throughout the night. Your eyes darted toward Javi and Steve, the two of them engrossed in their own conversation.
You grabbed your purse and called out to Steve, telling him you’d see him at work on Monday.
“Do I see double dates in our future?” Connie asked quietly as the two of you hugged.
You laughed softly. “Maybe?” Your eyes darted to Javi and the two of you locked eyes for a brief moment.
Your eyes drifted back to the couch. The heat of the moment you and Javi shared spreading through your body like smoldering embers. Your eyes fell on Javi one last time, his lips twitched into a crooked grin.
“I guess I should get out of here too.” Javi clapped Steve on the shoulder. “I’ll walk you out.”
He pecked Connie on the cheek and opened the door, allowing you to exit first. His hand rested gently at the small of your back as he guided you toward the stairs.
“You know, Valentine’s Day isn’t over yet Princess.” Javi whispered in your ear, his breath hot against your skin.
The warmth of his hand at your back made your skin tingle. “No, I guess it’s not.” Your lips twisted into a small smirk.
When you reached your car, he grabbed you by the waist spinning you around to face him, his eyes intense with desire. “I’m not ready to stop celebrating.”
Your breath hitched in your throat as he pressed his body against yours. “Me either.” He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to your lips before pulling away just enough to look at you.
“My place.” His voice was rough with desire. It wasn’t a question; it was a statement.
You slowly nodded, not wanting to seem too eager. He brushed his lips against yours one last time before releasing you from his grip and walking toward his own car; pausing momentarily to tilt his head to light a cigarette.
Was this the start of something? You had no idea…..but you were damn sure going to find out.

Suburban Sparks
Javier Peña x Steve Murphy's Sister Reader A moodboard and teaser for my next fic. Created for the lovely @goodwithcheese and @jolapeno's Coffee House.
You climb into your beat-up car to head to his and Connie’s annual harvest bonfire. The world turns from narrow streets lined with brick buildings to wide roads with large homes and playgrounds. Buses and pedestrians are traded for SUV’s and minivans.
Steve only lives twenty minutes away from your tiny apartment in the Adams Morgan section of DC. Your kitchen is the size of his closet. Whenever you take the drive to his perfect suburban home, you feel like you’re traveling to a different world, especially once you pull up to his house. His pristine suburban castle with a driveway bigger than your whole apartment feels like a whole world away, not less than a half hour.
The wooden gate creaks as you push it open, the sound immediately catching Olivia’s attention.
“Auntie!” she shouts, running toward you with her arms flailing in excitement.
“Hey, Liv!” You hug her tight and kiss the top of her head as she giggles.
“Hey kid!” Connie calls from the patio, making her way down the steps carrying two bottles of beer.
“Evening. One of those for me?” you ask.
“Nope, we had some help setting up,” she tilts her head towards the gazebo. Steve sits next to… Javier Peña. Crap.
Suddenly, you're hyper-aware of your outfit: an oversized flannel thrown over a plain white tee, faded jeans, and your scuffed Doc Martens. You dressed for a lame party hosted by your lame brother, never thinking the man that used to star in all of your teenage fantasies would be here.
Your heart races as you approach the gazebo and try to keep your cool. Javier's eyes meet yours, and for a moment you forget how to breathe. He's even more handsome in real life, his mustache is perfectly groomed with sideburns that frame his chiseled jaw. Fuck, he’s so much better than that ripped picture that lives in your bedside table drawer.
"Hey sis," Steve calls out, breaking the spell. "This is Javier Peña, my old workmate in Colombia."
Yeah Steve—you know all about him.
I made the moodboard to take part in the challenge, but the actual fic will not be part of it as your girl wrote almost 3,000 words of Javi and reader hookin' up in Steve's guest room.
A special thanks to @saradika-graphics for the cute pumpkins. As well as the always patient @maggiemayhemnj, @mothandpidgeon, @beefrobeefcal, and @schnarfer for letting me word dump and overthink things.

A/N: I fear its safe to say I don't do well with change. I moved back to school and couldn't find my groove. Who knew I just needed a little ovulation and commute to work time to bang this one out. Chapter 33 will be arriving shortly.
Well Javier was on the floor. Without a complaint. The two of you didn’t stay too long at the fair considering each ride had a wait time of forty five minutes. In the car you decided to keep your hotel but still be open to staying over, when it was appropriate. So now you’re on his bed, back in one of his shirts. Surrounded by him. Criss crossed while he’s sat up on the floor.
“You could come up here.” You offer, removing your rings and placing it on his nightstand. Already claiming his space as your own, too natural for you. The offer has him quirking a brow. It was a test, you know he shouldn’t. Shaking his head.
“I shouldn’t.” He settles into the mattress, pulling the blankets to his shoulders. “We could talk like this.” Grunting from adjusting his newly relaxed body. You move forward on your stomach so that he could see you. Resting your head on your arms. You smile feeling like two kids at a sleepover, whispering and peering over the bed to see if the other fell asleep yet.
“Good you passed that one. Let's continue shall we?”
The game of 21 questions was more like two hundred questions and it continued all the way into the house.
Did you date?
I thought you asked me not to tell you about all of that.
I said I don't want to hear about Camila or Daniela or whoever.
You remember their names?
Yes, I couldn’t sleep and thought about a Camila under you. He flexes his jaw at that.
I went on two dates, which were set up by my partner Steve Murphy and his wife. They ended with goodbyes after dinner. Never spoke to them again.
I went on some dates too.
I don’t want to hear about that. You pinch him on the elbow and he shrugs. We’re different about that stuff, I hate to hear it. You nod and get the urge to apologize but fight it.
Now in bed he clears his throat, “Alright. Tell me what your apartment looks like?”
You smile, “It’s a steal for the area. I actually have a bedroom for the price of a studio. My rooms a bit more eclectic than my one here. My bedding is white but my room walls are a burgundy color. There’s no closet so I have a clothing rack. None of my living room furniture is new… it’s all second hand from stoop sales or whatever. My birds shit without batting an eye so I opted not to be dumb about that. What did yours look like?”
His eyes are closed for a moment like he’s trying to imagine it. “Hmmm.. it was dim in there, always. The kitchen and living room were open, a few steps to lead you to the living room. I had a leather couch and a desk. My television was pretty nice. Nothing was really– mine. I tried not to make it feel lived in because I didn’t want to get attached to that place–that world.” There’s a face that you’ve never really seen from him until you’ve been here. It’s one nearly blank but you know the way his face moves, there's a small crease in his brows and he clenches his jaw. Like talking about Colombia pained him and he has to conceal it. Almost like a child admitting to their faults after a spanking. Quiet, embarrassed, unsure, and on the verge of breakdown. “You would have hated it there.”
Probably. You just nod the best you can while laying down. Waiting for his question.
“Um…” He closes one eye, like it’ll help him think. He opts to go silent for a moment like he conjured a question but was waging his options.
Should I? Is this a line I shouldn’t cross? Is the wound still open? “Have you heard from your father?”
You frown for a second. Off put and taken off guard. Remembering the day, remember the rolling grass, low hanging branches and the cold demeanor from the one person she needed warmth from. Hearing urgent and violent words like I love you. Promising to take care of you.
“No. I never went back there. He never called me even though I’m sure my grandmother told him I moved to Louisiana. I stopped needing him after I got to know him.” You rarely thought of him, just the concept of being without a parent. Then you became an educator and realized that anyone you call family is your own. Your students taught you that, so did Javier years earlier but you suppose maybe you weren’t ready to accept it yet.
Javier hums to himself, staring at the ceiling. Contemplating if he should really share the way he had felt. Afraid it would break some rule in this delicate game you’ve got going. Wondering if you’ll furrow your brow and turn you back to sleep or internalize what’s climbing up, up, up his throat.
“If this is… against your rules you don’t have to say anything or we could move on…”
“Okay.”
Again he can’t look at you. How is it that you reduce him to a shy young boy?
“There’s nothing more that I want in life than to be the father of your kids.” There he goes leaping over the bounds to which he’s left in, but he can’t help it. It’s all he thinks about, all he thought about three years ago and it plagued him every time you spoke of your own father. He doesn’t see you but he can feel your eyes closed, silent, internalizing it all. After all, you'd never turn your back on him. “No one will ever know you like me. Love you, sure, but not as much as me. You’re too easy to love. But I know that you could show me what a mother looks like and I could show you what a father looks like. Our kids will never be in pain the way we were. Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable or-or confused. It’s all I thought about when I was away. And I’m so sorry for ever making you think I didn’t want you in that way.” Because he should have known that it was a deep point of insecurity for you, a deep well created by your parents. Urge to be loved, to create something and love it in a much fiercer and kinder way than your parents did you. Lorraine being able to have all that you wanted came like slice to the stomach.
Sniffling, you rub your face into the crook of your arm. Hiding from Javier. He looks this time and he doesn’t try to hold your hand like you’re itching for.
“Thank you… I—.” You wipe your face. Not willing to open the can of worms this could conjure if you just told him straight up that you’d be willing to start now. Fuck the trial, fuck trying to learn each other again, let’s start a family. Be irrational but be happy. You decide to keep it together. You thank him and he knows it’s genuine, you see it in his eyes. He understands your reluctance. “I found that I don’t have the need for many people in my life-“
“I need you.” He says before you. Like he did when he said he loved you. Throat bobbing, he pulls his sheets over him. “I’ll wait for you, until you need me again.”
“Can never get enough of each other huh.” Chucho chuckles while washing his hands in the sink. Boots clean and squeaking against the floor. It was a part of his routine, cleaned his boots every night even if he worked the next morning.
Last night you fell asleep with your face buried into the crook of your arm. Hand dangling off the mattress, grazing Javier’s neck. Need to touch, woke up with a sore arm. Bleary eyed you notice there’s no-body by the bed. Silent but the sound of running water.
That’s how you found Chucho, ready for the day at 8 am. Embarrassingly you pad into the kitchen in Javier’s shirt and boxers.
You shrug, he hands you a cup of coffee. Nodding a thank you, “We have established clear boundaries. We are just spending quality time. We have a lot to make up for.” You say it with a bit of a half awake half still dreaming slur that has Javier’s father beaming.
“Well if that’s what you’re calling it nowadays, so be it. I won’t be back until four pm.” He places his cup down and starts walking away. Your jaw drops and you nearly run after him. But you know he’s fucking with you, his shoulders bounce.
“It’s not like that!” You call and he waves a hand at you over his shoulder and steps straight out of his own home. Screen door slamming with a brisk breeze.
You hear a sneeze, “What’s not like that?” Your head snaps and eyes lock with Javier’s. Freshly showered, hair so wet it droops on his forehead. He looks younger this way. Grey shirt loose with jeans to match. Socked feet, he looks like he doesn’t want you to go anywhere. At least seeing him like this makes you want to find a nest for yourself in his bed. You can’t help but smile at him.
He’s skeptical of your cheery mood. Brows furrowing, nostrils flared but a hint of a smile. He’s cautious, like he knows you’re up to something. You aren’t, at all. You’re just giddy and it’s only been two days and you feel your boundaries loosening. Just wanting to find that place you yearn for. Just run to him now, kiss him, tell him to put a baby in you. Grab, pull, lick, love, whatever came with it. You decide to control yourself a bit.
Your eyes drop to his hands, he’s holding three VHS tapes. Your brows furrow just the same, wondering what movie he wanted to see with you. It wasn’t a thing the two of you ever did. Your time spent was short and only for conversations and kisses. And pot, back before everything. You had to stop smoking after getting your teaching gig.
You want to say something bratty like, assuming I’m staying for some home videos? But you can’t even do that, lord when did you become such a softie? “Big plans?” Is all you can manage to croak.
He shrugs, “Are you staying?” He says it without shame, you know it must take a lot for a man to nearly beg. You know he means please stay.
You look at him once more and down at your boxer clad legs. Shrugging. “I suppose”
Eric Fredricks' family owned a Haitian restaurant off main street. It was a small take out spot that had been bustling with business since 1961. Eric was your classmate. A friend of everyone, known for his large digital camera he carried around school. The loud, goofy kid shoved his damn camera in everyone’s faces. Annoyed or not, he would always say, “When you fuckers are forty you’re really going to appreciate these recordings!”
Well, each year he cut, edited and burned these tapes as his own NR rated yearbook videos. Selling them around school and you bought one each year. He was chill with the price for you just because you always perked up in front of his camera. Ready to gleam and answer whatever stupid questions he had like;
“Andrea, how does it feel to be the worst lacrosse player in Laredo history?”
“Or Andrea, what are your thoughts on today’s LHS Chilli special? “
You always answered with the same slapstick humor he had. You thought you lost these tapes years ago. Javier seemed to remind you that you left them at his house, might’ve been when Javier was in Houston.
He was right, your mother’s VHS player stopped working in 1982. You remember popping these tapes in and watching them during your winter break from Miami. Chucho snoring on the lazy boy, saved him from watching the closest thing he had to a daughter do a keg stand with her skirt flipped up towards her chest.
“I’ve never seen these.” Javier grunts when he straightens back up and walks to sit next to you on the brown couch. A couch with the tendency to swallow you whole. You remember Javier on his knees before you, pillow covering your spread legs while he unlaced your boots.
“Well you left so…” You grab the control and snicker, pressing play.
“Hah. Hand me that.” he gestures to the pack of cigarettes on the side table. You shake your head no and settle into the seat. “Cmon.”
“No. No smoking in the house.” You snap at the tv, “Watch.”
It’s Eric’s face, he’s sitting in his bedroom. “Hello. I’m Eric Fredricks. I’m fifteen and my passion is digital media. The yearbook club is full of hacks and strokes, so I’m going to make my own. The date is September 21st 1979. Ok bye!” the film glitches and the camera makes its way down the hall. Faces of people who you haven’t seen in years. Hairstyles forgotten, thank god. Winks at the camera, sly comments from Eric behind it. He asks questions in his interview segment that would never make it to the school's video yearbook.
“What does Eric do now?” Javier asks. It’s easy to forget that he missed so many crucial moments. He missed the infamous lunch box incident in 81', Laredos first soccer championship, the halloween rager that led to the assembly—all of that. You wonder if that’s normal, for the development of a person. To be plucked out of childhood and forced to be an adult while everyone else got to worry about if their drivers test aligned with their basketball practice schedule. Burdened with the responsibility of a person's livelihood is no place for a seventeen year old.
You bring your knees to your chest, finding the most comfort when you're guided and held. “Last I heard he was doing media production for Saturday Night Live. Like in New York City.”
He feels it too, you see the way his brows quirk. How he almost frowns. “That’s crazy—how different things went for everyone else.” You knew at that moment that the tape would be mere background noise.
“You— you know you made a name for yourself too.”
Hm.
You weren’t sure if that’s what you wished to say. He doesn’t get upset with you for it. He chooses to let it slide and for that you’re grateful because you hadn’t had a clue about what to say to him.
“Yeah.” He chuckles but doesn’t seem to be that amused. He pinches the bridge of his nose, leaning his head against the back of the couch. There’s not much to be said anymore. Lorraine changed the fabric of his being, so did the DEA. And maybe you too. His hand splayed on his knee, knuckles red from repeated trauma to the area. You opted to abandon the topic in general. Seeing his stomach tighten up under the thin fabric of his t-shirt when the choice was your hand on his. Small, soft, against his.
The two of you relish in the harmless intimacy, you give each other this. Tiny touches could be enough.
The two of you watch the bootlegged documentary in mostly silence. Rotating who strokes the other with their thumbs. You think about turning your cheek, kissing him. Pressing close and making out for a bit. A casual make out, breathy and gripping. You decide against it. This would be so easy if it was anyone else but him.
It’s not because you feel like you can’t control yourself—it’s not like a make out with Javier Peña would have your panties at your ankles. You could control yourself more than that. What it is—is that you’ll take advantage of those little liberties. Sneaking kisses at any time and when you go back home, you’ll be lost without it.
Maybe you’re doomed anyway, because if this doesn’t work out you don't know what you’ll do knowing you can’t just hold his hand.
Your brother comes out on halloween with a fang induced lisp drunkenly reciting the alphabet backwards at a party while Eric cackles behind the camera. It makes you laugh so hard you cry, missing being young. Missing your brother.
Lorraine pops up. High ponytail with red cheeks from gym class. Hands on her hips, it’s wrong for such an evil person to be so beautiful. You look at Javier and there’s a frown on his face.
He wonders why she was so bad to him, what he did to deserve to be plagued by her. He regrets knowing her, it’s hard for him to watch her smile.
Then you show up and Javier’s eyebrows raise. “I remember that day.” He mutters. There you are, looking the same just with that baby fat at the apple of your cheeks. Your hair was the closest to its natural brown, your pants were severely high waisted and your shirt a lacy shawl like thing. You’re at a locker taping a flier about lacrosse tryouts when the camera rushes you.
“Andrea Diaz! How does it feel to be Laredos worst lacrosse player?” Javier snorts next to you, squeezing your hand. That’s what he would do, come up to you and ask the dumbest, rudest questions. There, a fifteen year old Andrea rolls her eyes and rolls her thumb to secure the tape.
Crossing her arms, “I’ll answer your dumb questions if you’re nicer about it.” You cringe at the sound of your own voice, sounding awfully juvenile. Javier’s entire demeanor goes soft. All it took was the sound of you—back then, for him to forget the panic in his gut when watching Lorraine in her prime.
“Alright sure-sure- Andrea Diaz how does it feel to be the sexiest girl in all of Laredo?” Eric had quite the country accent, it made every line delivered feel like that of a typecasted movie star.
Quirking a brow, “I wouldn’t know. I could ask your mother.”
“All right that’s enough! You’re impossible to please ,woman!” Eric yells from behind the camera and it fades in little blocks to you getting set up for a keg stand.
You’re in a skirt and a flowing yellow top. Stumbling a bit, Daniel holds your shoulder to keep you upright. You try not to think too hard about the images you’ve left in people’s minds while you were drunk. Javier is getting more and more tense each passing moment. His hold on your hand becomes just a hold and no longer a soothing stroke.
You’re cringing at yourself, flipping your hair and chanting that you could do it while Daniel holds your waist. Hands trailing over your stomach, you almost forget that before Javier you had your fair share of hookups, him your most consistent.
The date on the corner March 1st 1980.
Drunkenly you lean forward and another one of your peers holds your other leg while another shoves a tap in your mouth. The entire party off screen and on, start chanting your name with whoops. That’s when your skirt flips and exposes the plain blue panties.
You cover your eyes.
“I don’t like this.” Is all that Javier can say, on the screen no one covers you until a random classmate of yours, Jenna? Or was it Jessa? Runs to your aid and calls all the men pigs before holding your skirt in its place. You’re dropped down and again you stumble backward into the arms of your pseudo boyfriend.
And then you yak all over the floor.
“Jesus christ I forgot about that.” You rub your eyes afraid to look over at Javier.
“Did—anything-“
“No. Well I think we went to someone’s room and made out. Then I walked home.”
His head nearly falls off his shoulders. “He let you walk home like that?” Javi grits, letting go of your hand.
You shrug, “Dunno, high school shit.”
“Why didn’t you call me?”
Your brows furrow, he’s being ridiculous but you know he can’t help it. He wanted—wants, nothing more than to take care of those he loves. You watch the video back, seeing your young eyes and wish to take care of her too. You can’t even imagine him. He only lets you know the surface level of his concern for you. You know it’s more than wishing you had called him.
You had before, panicked and blushing using the party home phone.
You decide calling him ridiculous would be in bad faith. You just lean your head on his shoulder. Moving your hand from his and holding his bicep instead. He looks at you out of the corner of his eye. Face softening along with his tense shoulders. “I don’t know. I was sixteen and stupid. And drunk.” Your cheek feels too good there.
He’s studying you. You wished you could read him in these moments. When he’s so in his head, he’s taking you in completely. “Can you? Now I mean.”
Your lips quirk and the apples or your cheeks redden. Pulling your brows because sometimes he’s too sweet it gives you a toothache. “I live in New York, Javi.”
“I know.” He’s close enough to kiss. “But I want you to call me anyway. If you ever feel unsafe or unsure—i know how twisted a human can be—i’ve seen-“
There it is. He’s cut off by a kiss on his shoulder.
“I will.” It’s a featherlight whisper and he does that thing again. That look, this time with a bit of restraint. The two of you focus on the screen again.
Twenty minutes into the forty-six minute video the two of you revert back to telling stories about the students on the screen and laughing at how high school, your high school experience really was.
“This is great, hottest couple in the school right in front of me.” Eric laughs, camera pointed at the ground then quickly shot up. Blurring than focusing on Javier at his locker. He looked so young, red cap on his head with a Righteous Brothers t-shirt. The image of him as a seventeen year old in your head had been fading for a few years, but now you’re watching him living, breathing and moving as himself. Smiling once he sees Eric approaching him.
“What the fuck was I wearing?”
You laugh, your cheek pressed to his shoulder. “Don’t know but I was obsessed with you anyway.”
He makes one of those grunts where you can’t tell if he’s annoyed with himself or with you. You nudge his shoulder with your chin. “What?”
“Makes me feel like such an asshole.”
All you could do was sigh. You know he’d give it all to do it over again. You look at Lorraine and there seems to be love there. It never fails to make your blood boil. You know that loving Javier can make you feel sick, crazy or desperate. But you suppose her love was selfish. For a while you felt like your own love was selfish, not caring for the consequences. But you suppose it was just a natural progression. Miles away from scheming to keep him forever, by ways of manipulation. The look in his eye isn’t the same since you left him.
A young Javier takes Lorraine’s jaw in his hand and kisses her cheek. She rolls her eyes. “He’s obsessed with me.” She smiles and he mumbles a yeah. Your cheeks heat in a rage that’s so juvenile, you want to turn off the entire thing. Maybe this was a shitty idea. Watching your most insecure and turbulent years in front of you. You were obsessed with him, crying furious tears. Avoiding contact. While he was content with her. It’s a nerve that will always be left exposed.
He clears his throat.
“Were you?” You bite. Removing your head from his shoulder, he sinks at the loss. Leaning forward to get a full image of your face. His brows are pulled together in confusion until they soften when he notices this is nothing but you showing him you are still so into him.
He bites back a smirk and you want to smack it off of his face. “Was I what, querida?”
You swear you will-
“Obsessed with her.” Firm, no room for it to sound like a desperate question. This definitely breaks one of your rules. But fuck it, he’s flawed and so are you,
He shuts an eye and shakes his head no. “I liked her. She was pretty. She was my girlfriend…”
You frown, that title belonged to you.
There he is, an inch away from your face with such intensity. “But I would fuck her, and picture you. I imagined that you’d blush the whole time and would pretend like you couldn’t handle me just so I can fuck you harder. Would have to bury my head where she couldn’t hear because I’d come and say your name.” Your cheeks turn cherry red, just how he likes. Cunt pulsing, it betrays you. You’re so flustered and angry with him you want to lean forward and bite him. He doesn’t waiver, he leans much closer. You shudder, feeling crowded by his body. He has the strength to do what he’d like with you, you’re sure you’d put on a fight until you’re unable to lie anymore. You had been soaked the whole damn time. “What? Have I broken your rules?” He whispers, nose nudging your own lightly. You can’t help it, your mouth parts searching for his—
But he backs away and laughs at you. He laughs! Shaking his head like you’re some bastard child. Leaning back cooley and pressing play again. Lorraine’s voice ringing through the speakers.
Absolutely not.
You sit in silence. Staring at him while he’s glued to the image of him and his ex girlfriend. Your chin quivers, and you clench around nothing.
“G-give me the remote.” You blurt. Chest falling, bubbling with anger. He doesn’t look at you but smirks. He ignores you. Eyes welling with tears. “Javi.”
More silence. More her. You reach for his hand and he doesn’t look at you. He isn’t looking at you… so you pounce.
Jumping into his lap, clawing at him while he laughs and hurriedly finds different ways to keep you away from the remote. You’re seeping through your underwear and onto his boxers, your cunt rolling against his crotch unintentionally.
Your brows screw—“Just—Javi please turn it off.” He chuckles again and he’s all of this without focusing on the pain you’re in. Emotionally, sexually, whatever. You reach around him lifting your hips to get ahold of the controller but you lose again. Bouncing on his lap a bit. He grunts.
“Javi— Please- I’m not kidding.”
The tv shuts off with a wiring tone and his eyes finally land on your own. All the playfulness leaves when he realizes. And you feel like a heat sick kitten, rubbing on yourself this way. His brow raises, eyes falling to your tear stained cheek and down your grinding hips. You drop your face into his shoulder. At first he doesn’t touch you, he just watches you. Nose nudging your cheek. Wondering why after everything you’d give it up just to come quick like this.
“Hey… hey.” He whispers at the shell of your ear. “Fuck—Andrea—“
You can only whimper into the crook of his neck. Taking your feel for the girl in those tapes, for the girl who dreamt of him while he did the same. It drove you crazy, it made you violent and horny. “Baby…” His big hands span from your shoulder blades down to the small of your back and then splayed on your ass. Spreading you and rolling you harder. He grunts again. “Andrea… I can’t—we said we wouldn’t—I'm sorry for teasing you—cmon.” His hands move from your behind, come to your front, at your waist and lightly push you away from him.
He’s impossibly hard now, his tan cheeks have a bit more color now. He’s sweating. Feeling embarrassed, you freeze. Eyes dropped to his lap, cunt begging you to move again. You feel the length of him under you, mocking you. You shouldn’t. You know. You know he’s sorry for how rushed and stupid Christmas eve was. You’re still ticked off by it, but he’s doing so good for you.
“I’m sorry… we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.” Is all you can muster out.
“You know I want to.” He rushes, leaning forward so he can hold your face, it just makes him shift against you again. Your brows furrow at the release.
“Okay…” A drop of sweat builds at the nape of your neck, the both of you are so turned on you’ll fuck each other if you keep this up. “Can we…can I…” You swear if he brings up your rules again you’ll crawl in a hole and die of embarrassment.
He juts his chin at you, egging you to complete your sentence.
You think you’ll die before you say it. Your face brightens real red and you shimmy out of his hold. You crawl off his lap and mutter to yourself. “Sorry, it’s stupid. I should just go.”
He catches your wrist and sits you back down next to him. “Tell me.”
“It’s stupid! And gross probably.”
“We aren’t children.”
You’ve been so open sexually until now. You felt twenty two again, never having orgasmed with another person, afraid to tell him what you wanted. He gave you it all.
“Can we— or can I touch myself?”
Javier’s eyes darken, “You want to touch yourself.”
God it’s like he’s trying to humiliate you.
“Yes.”
He clenches his jaw so tight. “Can I watch? Or do you want to go to my room alone?”
Idiot.
“Can we do it together? Now.” You can’t let the moment pass.
Well, he can’t either. His nostrils flare and he places his hand on his belt. Unbuckling so fast you can’t help but watch. You watch him unbuckle and unzip while you shimmy out of his boxers. His eyes glued to your movements. You feel filthy exposing yourself like this. He lifts his hips and pulls his jeans down a bit, the heft of his cock making a print through his underwear. You remember leaning down and pressing your lips along his bulge once. You’d like to do it again.
You circle your fingers along your clit over your panties. He palms himself.
“Tell me what to do.” You whisper.
“Oh.” He reaches into his boxers and pulls his length out. Your pussy clenches at the sight, a thatch of hair at the base and curved. You touched yourself to the thought of it. You pull your panties down and lift one leg up on the couch, spreading yourself open. “Give me your fingers.”
You furrow your brow but remove them. Bringing your hand to him. His free hand grasps your wrists and he takes no time, he puts the same two fingers in his mouth. You gasp, while he sucks, stroking his dick at the same time. Your fingers are impossibly wet when he stops. Your wrist is still in his hold. “Don’t put any fingers in until I tell you. Just play with your clit for a little.”
You nod, bringing your fingers back to it. Moving in tight circles. Javier’s fist is dry, working his way up and down his shaft— your lips gather with drool—you want to-
“Spit on it. If you want. Or I can.” He reads your mind. You take no time, moving to your knees, your knees knocked together giving you a tighter squeeze for your fingers. Feels even better. You lean into his lap, back arched like a kitten.
Javier groans at the sight. You desperately want to put your mouth on him—my rules, my rules. Spit drips from your mouth and onto the red head of his pretty cock. His hand comes to the back of your head and you moan, wishing he’d push down and force himself into your mouth. But he just strokes the back of your head instead. You lean back into the arm of the couch, you’re no longer side by side. Your whole body is barred for him, you bring your free hand under your shirt. Grabbing your breast and rolling your fingers over your nipples.
He uses your spit and moans audibly now. Grunting in his low baritone, you collect your slick and use it for slip. Your stomach tenses, “Put your finger in. Middle.” You nod and feel even more unsatisfied. “Fuck, I missed that pretty little face you make when something goes inside your cunt.”
“Javi…” You whine throwing your head back, fucking yourself with your small finger.
“I know—fuck.” Pre-cum gathers all over the tips of his fingers. You’ll ask to lick his hand clean when you’re done. “I know your cunt wants my cock again—I’m sorry I can’t.”
“It’s not enough.” Your knees knock together in protest.
“I know-I know. Add another baby. Ring.” You watch his stomach go taut so he slows down his strokes. Licking his lips at the sight of you adding another. “Mm. I miss you so much.” He shudders.
“I’m right here.”
“Please don’t leave me—fuck.” He whines, it’s so unlike him. You watch his tip surge through the tight hole he’s made for himself, he’s close but you’re closer. You can’t believe it’s him asking you this. “I want to follow your rules—show you I’m good—but please let me kiss you.”
The ridges of your fingers aren’t enough, you use your other hand to circle your clit without permission. He’s so caught in his emotions that he doesn’t seem to care that you touched yourself without his command.
He tells you what to do but truly he’s at your will. His eyes well with tears and his brows are pulled together. Let me take care of you, I’ll do everything you say if you let me kiss you—“
“I can’t— I’m going to come!” Your back arches and it builds. You can’t see him now but you hear his pace, his fist slapping against his base. You writhe and shiver and it comes crashing down. You come hard, you mutter I’m sorry, over and over. And he groans at the sight, you can’t give him what he wants.
You can try and give him something else. You catch your breath and open your eyes. Your own come dripping to the inside of your thighs. He watches in pain, “Baby—” You whisper, fuck that’s against the rules probably. He nods, submissive suddenly. “Come here, come on my cunt.” You want to be marked, he’s yours.
“Andrea—“ still he’s fighting his need to follow your rules.
You nod, “It’s okay, come here.” He lets his length go at once, it twitches at the sudden abandonment. You lean forward and grab his arms, and he finally climbs over you. Reluctant, “Please Javi. Let me have what I want.” Were you power tripping? Yeah. But it was always him in control. You open your legs and he clenches his jaw. “Do you want me to finish it?”
He shakes his head no, you know he wants it. Still he tries to be good. You begin to touch yourself under him. He begins to jerk himself off inches away from your cunt. Your knuckles brush against each other and you're already climaxing again. He slaps faster, breathing heavily in the crook of your neck.
“Fuck—move your hand.” You do and he’s coming all over you. It shoots and covers the new growth of hair, it's warm against the bare part of you. Dripping and he instinctively slides his twitching, softening cock between your folds. The two of you gasp when just the tip of his cock prods your hole. Gasping at the way you pulse for him for that one second like muscle memory. “Sorry.” He mumbles, taking a hold of his still twitching and leaking length. He panics and tucks himself back into his boxers before he relaxes himself on you.
He’s catching his breath, you think he’s crying against your shoulder.
“It’s okay.”
You hold the back of his head, hoping to soothe him.
He had done this for you countless times. You find no issue doing it for him.

the moment mike accepted steve into the party
he didn’t get it. what was so good about steve harrington?
yeah, he was good looking and strong. but other than that? nothing. in mike’s eyes, he was still the asshole rando that dated his sister. and he didn’t plan on that changing.
until march of 1985.
mike had been held back after class for falling asleep. it wasn’t his fault. he couldn’t ever sleep unless someone else was with him. and there was no way in hell he was gonna cuddle with nancy. besides, he was good at the class— so no need to pay attention really.
at least miss noelle didn’t call his mom.
dustin, lucas, and will were waiting for him in the hall. oh, and max, cause she was actually kind of cool.
“what was up with miss noelle?” lucas asked as they walked down the hall.
“pissed i fell asleep in class,” mike said dejectedly. max snorted from beside him.
“maybe just don’t fall asleep?” she asked rhetorically.
mike huffed and flipped her off. “you sound like my dad.”
dustin shuddered from his other side. “ew. not cool man.”
mike rolled his eyes. “it’s true! my dads always like ‘just don’t this’ and ‘just don’t do that’ instead of actually helping! It’s so annoying.”
will came up and bumped arms with him while they finally left the school. classes were done and they were finally left to do what they wanted.
“uh oh.” came from lucas. mike sighed, catching sight of what— or who— lucas was “uh oh-ing” about.
“just don’t look at them,” max said under her breath while she averted her eyes to the ground.
“that never works,” retorted lucas.
“you have any better ideas? just keep walking.”
great. the one day nancy or jonathan aren’t picking them up and they run into noah and joey.
in 1983, el had gotten troy and james to back off— even scaring them into moving. but el’s not here right now, so she can’t help with noah and joey— the party’s most recent tormentors.
will stepped closer to mike and mike nudged his hand with his. everyone pulled in closer to each other in hopes of concealing themselves and the others. of course, it didn’t work.
“hey hey! look man, it’s the circus!” mike saw noah nudge joey beside him.
“shit,” dustin cursed.
and ‘shit’ was right. no one wanted to deal with noah and joey. especially with the mood mike was currently in after being held up.
“seriously what hell is it, tanner?” mike addressed noah directly.
joey whistled lowly and took a sharp step forward. will and dustin both flinched pretty hard. max gave a twitch but lucas and mike held their ground for the most part. noah and joey got a kick laughing at dustin and will.
“awwww they’re scared, joey! like a bunch of babies!”
mike forgot how stupid kids sound most of the time. they could call him a baby all they wanted— nothing will ever compare to watching will get possessed and then watching bob die.
mike still reached out and grabbed someone’s hand. he thinks it was lucas’.
joey and noah were both a good bit taller than mike, which meant they were also a good bit taller than everyone else in the party. they liked to use their height to their advantage but mike had dealt with monsters twice his height. it wasn’t scary, just annoying at this point.
still didn’t help the fact that they didn’t want to deal with this.
mike had zoned out, because next thing he knew he was being shoved to the ground. it probably wouldn’t have hurt too bad if they weren’t outside in the parking lot. mike felt his chin bust on the pavement in a sickening repeat of ‘83 with troy and james.
will was there in a second with dustin, helping him up off the ground and dusting him off. dustin held his hands while Will held his face, frantic over the now gushing blood that he could feel running down his neck. he was trembling. why was he trembling?
he faintly heard yelling and assumed lucas and max were arguing with joey and noah.
“just fuck off, murphy!” he heard max yell at joey. “we’ve literally done nothing to either of you and yet you make us hate our fucking lives!”
“aww, noah, she thinks we actually care! isn’t that cute?”
mike stood up with the help up dustin and will. but that only served to turn noah and joey’s attention onto him. well. better on him than on max.
“so whatcha gonna do, wheeler? gonna push me like troy? gonna wimp out and go cry to mommy and daddy?”
mike actually considered pushing joey. but that’d probably just make thing worse. if el hadn’t been there last year to save his ass from troy mike would’ve gotten pummeled.
but it was a serious option he considered.
dustin stepped in front of mike and shoved joey back. mike didn’t even realize how close he’d gotten. wow. he was really out of it today, huh?
“back off murphy.”
mike wanted to hug dustin, but at the same time he wanted to smack him upside the head for putting himself in the way. it’s easier when they target mike. just let them target him. he doesn’t care at this point.
dustin stayed arguing with joey and stopped only when there were multiple shouts from max, will and lucas.
noah had pulled max’s hair and in return was shoved to the ground by lucas. but noah had taken will down with him and now will struggled with lucas and max to get noah off.
mike saw red, and in a moments notice had noah off of will and on the ground. he was vaguely aware of dustin and max cheering him on with dustin and will watching.
it didn’t last very long until noah shoved mike hard enough that he fell backwards and busted his head on the ground. again.
at this point he was working himself towards a concussion. just like steve, he thought deliriously. and speak of the devil.
“aye!”
mike, dustin, lucas, will, and max all looked up, startled by the familiar voice and claps.
“what the fuck are you shits doing, huh?”
steve fucking harrington was suddenly right next to mike on the ground, kneeling and helping him sit up.
“shit, you ok mike? that’s a nasty scrape you got there. i have bandaids in the car, let’s go get you one, yeah?”
mike just nodded. he really wanted to know what the fuck steve was doing there and why he seemed to intent on helping.
“who the fuck are you?”
steve stood with mike halfway to the car, the rest of the group following, mike noticed. joey and noah stood idly in the parking lot, seeming put out by steve’s sudden appearance.
steve’s eye twitched and mike watched him bite the inside of his cheek. mike watched in real time as steve recognized joey and noah and seemed to piece together exactly what happened. he scoffed. not what mike was expecting.
steve gently nudged mike towards the car and knocked his knuckles on dustin’s hat. “you kids go get in the car. max you can toss your board in the trunk.”
dustin seemed to want to protest but even he could see how pissed steve was. even max was keeping quiet. lucas and will were quick to follow instructions and headed to the car. mike was right behind them.
lucas tried the back door (knowing mike got shotgun for the bandaids and possible concussion) but the handle only wiggled. “locked.”
“did he give one of you the keys?” asked will.
they all shook their heads. they didn’t have to wait long until steve was back with them at the car.
“why aren’t you guys in the car yet?”
“locked.” informed will.
“ohhhh. oops.” steve unlocked the car and helped max put her skate board in the trunk. when he hopped into the drivers side dustin and lucas were hounding him with questions.
“why are you here?”
“I thought we were walking home?”
“what the hell was that?”
“what did you do to noah and joey?”
“settle down and shut up, would you? nancy mentioned you guys were walking home so I came to grab you. you’d think that after everything they’d be a little more cautious. and also, language, henderson. I am so not taking the blame when you end up slipping in front of your mom.”
“awww you were worried steve.” max teased.
steve scoffed. “‘course I was, red. and it turned out I had every right to be. anybody wanna explain what that was?”
suddenly the car was quiet.
steve clicked his tongue.
“fine. guess you’re all coming to my house, huh?”
there was a sudden uproar in questions and “what the hell?”s.
“listen! i’m not letting any of you shits go home until I one; know for sure mike doesn’t have a concussion—“ steve eyed mike and he felt himself flinch. “—and two; before I get the whole story.”
there was a bunch of grumbling from the backseat, but mike himself stayed quiet throughout the rest of the ride.
“oh! and mike—“ mike looked at steve briefly and barely caught the box of tissues tossed at him. “—put that on the scrape for now, yeah? I’ll clean it properly when we get to the house.”
mike nodded and held a wad of tissues to his chin.
when they pulled up to the harrington house, everyone was inside quickly. everyone went to use the phone in the living room to call their parents and when mike went to follow he was grabbed gently on the shoulder.
“can you head to the kitchen and grab out the med-kit? I need to make sure they don’t drive my bill up.”
mike knew it was meant to be used as a distraction. but he’d take it. so he headed to the kitchen before realizing he didn’t know where the med-kit was. he rifled around in the cabinets for a bit before finding it stored away under the sink.
mike pulled it out and waited at the kitchen island. he noticed that it was a pretty heavy kit. and it seemed to be used a lot judging by the lack of dust and how it had a couple of bandages peeking from the crease.
everyone piled into the kitchen, book bags dumped in the living room and shoes discarded by the door. will sat on a stool next to mike and dustin and max hopped on the counter. lucas took a seat on the other side of mike.
“ooookay. ah! there it is.” steve opened the kit and grabbed out a brown bottle and a few cotton balls. mike noted how he seemed to know where everything in the med-kit was as if he used it on a daily. he filed the information away for later.
“what’s that supposed to be?” mike eyed the bottle with weariness.
“just peroxide. it’s meant to clean the cut. I know for a fact that that parking lot is fucking filthy and I’m not risking an infection due to gunk in the wound.”
steve put a cotton ball to the open top of the bottle and tipped the bottle over. “i’m not going to lie and say it doesn’t hurt, cause it does sting a bit. but it also definitely helps in the long run.” steve held up the cotton ball as if in question.
mike nodded and looked up, giving steve more room to see the scrape. mike gripped will’s hand and hissed when the cotton ball first dabbed, but the pain soon subsided.
“now this part isn’t too fun either but it’s kind of needed. how attached to that shirt are you?”
mike looked down at that faded, off-white with blue stripes shirt he was wearing. “not very. why?”
“ok, good. this won’t ruin the shirt but you might have to change is all i’m saying. I need to pour the peroxide directly on the scrape to clean it out properly. “
(I know that hydrogen peroxide actually tends to damage tissue and delay healing but they didn’t really know that in the 80s so bare with me.)
mike shuddered at the thought. “I don’t have clothes to change into.”
“I have an extra shirt in my bag.” offered lucas. “I had gym today.” he clarified when he got off looks.
“that’d be perfect, thanks sinclair.”
lucas jumped up to get the shirt and came back in with a white t-shirt with red sleeves. he set it on the counter for afterwards. lucas wordlessly took mike’s hand that will wasn’t holding.
it wasn’t long before the scrape was clean and steve was putting away the kit. while everyone else ran into the living room to watch movies and raid steve’s snacks, mike took the shirt and went to the bathroom to change.
when he came back out (after looking at the funny bandage on his chin— because seriously, what kind 17 year old just had dinosaur bandaids in their med-kit?) mike was quick to join everyone in the living room before steve could pull him aside again.
honestly? fuck that guy.
(but when mike sat between will and max on the couch he couldn’t stop thinking about how soft steve was when taking care of the scrape. he couldn’t stop himself from thinking about how old he was when he last felt that gentleness.
the answer was 7. mike was 7 when his mom deemed him old enough to deal with his own cuts and bruises.)
steve eventually held out on his promise of getting information. and after their first movie he forced them all onto the couches while he stood in front of them.
“so am I actually going to get an answer this time?” he stood with his hands on his hips and a dish towel thrown over his shoulder. mike remembered this same stance from not even a year ago, when they were trying to talk him into going in the tunnels.
steve almost reminded mike of his mom for a moment. but mike doubted his mom would go this far if she ever found out about the bullying. (mike refused to admit that he liked the idea of steve fretting over them like this. the idea made him almost sick to his stomach.)
everyone refused to look at him. max looked dead ahead at the wall, lucas kept his eyes trained on the floor, will was messing with his jacket sleeves and dustin was paying extra attention to the ceiling.
mike chewed the inside of his cheek.
“what the hell do you wanna hear from us, steve?” he asked. “that we’re being bullied? that they picked a fight with us first? that we’re nerds and freaks and weirdos?”
will, dustin and lucas flinched with each insult. max refused to look at anything other than what mike assumed was the odd spot on the wall. mike saw steve’s left eye twitch— the one he was always getting punched in.
“that what they told you?”
mike scoffed. “that’s what everyone told us. we’re the school circus!” his voice raised at the end and will flinched violently next to him.
“mike..” dustin uttered from beside max.
“sorry.” he mumbled, finally letting his gaze drop from steve to the coffee table in front of them.
steve sighed quietly.
“noah tanner and joey murphy, right? they both have older siblings, noah an older brother and joey an older sister.”
that made head snap to him.
“what—“ lucas started.
“mitchel tanner and annie murphy are their names. mitch is on the swim team, annie on the cheer team. they’re both barely passing their classes and aren’t exactly the kindest either— in fact I watched mitch shove freshman into a door yesterday.” steve continued, his voice soft as if he was simply talking to himself.
dustin’s and lucas’ jaws were on the floor, max and will were looking at him as if he were insane.
“so— wait—“
“you know their older siblings?”
“what the hell does that have to do with anything?”
steve smirked. and mike was /scared/. he’d seen steve smirk before, when he was dating nancy, when he said something particularly bitchy.
but this. this smirk was plain /mean/.
“would be a real shame if.. I dunno, their coaches suddenly find out about the poor sophomores they make do their homework. or worse— principal higgins finds out. who are mitch and annie gonna blame then, huh?”
dustin sputtered, “you! they’d just blame you, wouldn’t they?”
steve shrugged. “sure. but then they’d know why I did it. their brothers fucking with my kids.”
he said it so calmly. as if it was just the plain truth. as if he wasn’t scared to admit it.
if this is how he’s treated, being of steve’s “kids”, then shit. he may not be all that mad after all.
steve pulled the towel off his shoulder and walked back into the kitchen, a call over his shoulder about ham and cheese sliders and chips for dinner.
but none of the kids were listening.
lucas turned dustin who turned to max who turned to mike who turned to will who looked back at all of them with the biggest grin mike’s ever seen on his face.
ok. so maybe mike gets the hype the steve harrington.
(and if the next week of school went by with no issues, with noah and joey looking at them in /fear/? well. mike had steve to thank.)

A Hole In A Shoe
Steve Murphy x Murphy!F!Reader (Murphy Sister Reader from this fic) Javi Peña x Murphy!F!Reader A/N: The way I started this August Challenge with this crew and just expected it to be a stand alone one shot..lol. This is just the next installment, have one more written and who knows where it'll go! lol. Word Count: 2.2k Warnings: Drunk, drinking, mentions of exes and proposals, trashing of apartments (could be considered semi-abusive relationship), cursing. Narcos Taglist: @drabbles-mc @justreblogginfics @narcolini
“I need you to pick me up.” Your voice slurred into the payphone in the bar.
“It’s like 12:30 in the morning over there.” Steve’s voice was raspy. He wiped his eyes in an attempt to wake up and process you on the other line.
“Okay well, the bartender took my keys so it’s either I walk back to my hotel on the fuckin’ highway or you come and get me because you’re the only person I know in Miami.”
Steve let out a sigh. “I’m not in Miami, kid.”
If you weren’t drunk you would have clocked the stress in his voice, maybe even have realized he was stressfully rubbing his temples with his hand as his arm rested on his knee but you were blissfully unaware.
“Okay sorry, I forgot that your house is in Hialeah, same shit though, can you just get me.” You let out a hiccup at the end of your sentence.
“No, I’m back in Colombia.”
Now you heard the stress in his voice.
“I literally just saw you.” You were confused, and despite being drunk this was something that would have thrown you for a loop regardless.
“Yea, I got called back in last minute and figured since I dropped you off at the airport this morning, I didn’t need to update you yet. Which– why aren’t you home? Why are you still in Miami?”
Fuck. You didn’t think that part through.
“I canceled my flight.” You said in a whisper worried about his response.
“The one I paid for?” Steve was now fully awake.
“Scheduled it for later.” You danced around the topic.
“How later?” Steve’s voice just got more annoyed.
“A month from now.”
“Jesus Christ.” Steve was now standing up in his small apartment in Colombia, moving towards his dresser like he was able to just get dressed and come down to pick you up.
As he approached the dresser he saw the picture of him and his family tucked behind the wood and in front of the mirror. The photo included 5 of you. Your mom, your dad, Steve, you and Connie. You were snugged up next to her, Connie had become a close friend to you, Steve was happy about that, with all the issues your parents caused regarding his job, the last thing he needed was more drama. But that was who you were, you were kind, you were easy going, you were annoying but all out of good reason.
What would Connie do?
That was the thought running through Steve’s head. He wanted to reprimand you but he knew she would have cut you slack. Figured out what was really going on.
“Why’d you do that?” His voice was trying, there was still frustration there but he was trying to understand.
“I don’t think I can go home.” You were now starting to get teary eyed and crying in a bar in Miami at 12:30AM was not on your to-do list.
“I thought you hated Miami?” Steve questioned, still staring at the picture of him and his family.
“Not as much as I hate New York, I guess.” You sniffled, making sure your tears didn’t make it down your cheek.
Steve knew exactly what you were talking about, he didn’t need to ask. It was a guy. Not just any guy, but the guy who had proposed to you, the guy you told no and decided to trash your apartment. There was likely more details there that Steve wasn’t privy too, but he didn’t need to know anything more.
“Let me call you a ride.” Steve was now thinking of what to do in this very moment for you. “You can stay at my place for the time being, the keys inside the flower box on the left side.”
“I don’t think I’ll remember that.” You chuckled closing your eyes and resting it against the wall the payphone was attached to.
“I’ll call you at the hotel tomorrow. Let me get you a ride. Where are you?” Steve smiled.
“Better Days Bar.”
“Fitting.” Steve actually let out a laugh this time. “Alright, drink some water, I’ll have a ride for you in 30 minutes.”
“Thanks big brother.” You let out a sigh as the relief left your body.
You didn’t realize who your brother was sending. You figured he’d call you a cab, call the hotel’s car service, maybe even one of Connie’s friends, but not Javier Peña. If you had known, maybe you wouldn’t have convinced the bartender to keep serving you.
The alcohol now had you dancing, luckily you were still a good few minutes away from getting up on the bar and you’d take that win right now.
As your name rolled off his tongue you froze, you knew the voice, even only having heard it once. As you turned, you smiled, taking the embarrassment with stride.
“Care for a drink, Peña?”
“Think I’m supposed to be your DD.” He smirked.
Fuck, had you not noticed that smirk before? No, you did, the alcohol in your system was just making the thought a lot less harder to push aside.
Somehow you agreed to walk out of the bar with him. But you weren’t just ready to get in the car you assumed he rented during his time down in Miami. At some point you made a break for the beach which was right across from the bar. You weren’t sure how Steve did it, beaches and bars within walking distance? It was a dream. Maybe Miami wasn’t so bad after all.
Javi caught up with you, calling after you in a flustered panic. The last thing he needed was to lose you or accidentally let you drown in the ocean. Neither was going to be the conversation he wanted to have with Steve.
Just as Javi reached you, your body lost all balance, it didn’t help that the sand was tough to navigate even for a person who didn’t have practically the entirety of a tequila bottle in their system. Javi caught you, his arms quick to wrap around you and steady you.
“It’s these damn shoes.” You looked down to your feet, Javi still holding you in his grip. You let out a gasp which caused Javi to hold you tighter and look down where your gaze was. He was expecting to see a broken bone, blood, something from the stumble but was left confused when he saw nothing.
“There’s a hole in my shoe.” You lifted your leg up and shook it in the air.
“Yea, they’re sandals.” He stood behind you now, arms still steadying you, his eyes frowning at your comment.
“Oh.” You let out a hiccup, you were really drunk, those last few drinks after your call to Steve really putting you over the edge.
Javi plopped you down on the sand and took a seat next to you. He knew there was no chance of getting you back to the car right now, so he’d just chat with you until you sobered up just enough to want to go home.
“Why are you here?” You turned to him, eyes glossy staring at him.
He was reaching in his pocket for a smoke, bringing it up to his mouth before answering making his voice muffled. “Steve called me.”
“I know that. I mean in Miami. You didn’t get called down last minute.” You dug your sandals into the sand.
“Steve didn’t get called down, he volunteered. I enjoy my vacation time.” Javi immediately regretted sharing that piece of information. He didn’t know how you were going to take it and if it was going to be taken badly, he hoped you’d be too drunk to remember tomorrow.
“Kid can’t sit still.” You shook your head, not mad or honestly shocked.
“Kid?” Javi raised his eyebrows and let out a chuckle that exhaled smoke out of his mouth.
“It’s what he calls me.” You laughed back.
“Why are you here?” Javi asked, hoping the conversation would sober you up as time went by.
“Don’t really feel like going home.” You shook your head, thinking about New York made you want to throw up.
“What’s your plan?” Javi asked passing you the cigarette. As you took it in your hand, you waved around you to signal what your thoughts were. “Right.” He nodded and leaned forward, letting his arms rest on his knees.
“You’re not sore on the eyes, you know that, Peña?” You changed the subject as you looked over at him through the smoke of the cigarette.
The laugh he let out was one of disbelief, the last thing he expected you to say was that.
“Thanks I think.” He took the bud of the cigarette back taking one last drag of it.
“Oh, it’s a compliment.” You laughed and changed the topic again. “You watch out for my brother?”
It was a more serious comment, you did worry.
“He doesn’t need a babysitter.” Javi switched into his DEA mode quickly like he was talking to someone he worked with.
“Never said he did. I just wanna make sure that if you’re the one he’s out on the field with you’ve got his back.” You didn’t stop staring at him.
Javi’s shoulders slumped as he took in who he was talking to, who you were, what you’d have to do if something took a turn.
“Yea I’ve got his back.” He nodded and started playing with the sand.
The silence was deafening, at least for Javi. For you, you were in your own drunk world that was slowly starting to level out since you weren’t feeding your body more alcohol at the moment. The waves of the Atlantic ocean crashing into the sand mixed with the bustling of the city behind you filled both of your ears. For you, it brought you peace, but for Javi it did the opposite.
“You know you’re not too sore on the eyes either.” Javi filled the silence between you.
Your stomach rumbled from the laugh you let out. You were not expecting Javi to say anything of the sorts. Especially after you had just discussed your brother.
“I’ve dated men like you before Javi.” Your statement could have been taken with a pointedness to it, but you were giddy, you weren’t giving him attitude or a negative demeanor.
“Men like me? Like what?” He asked, now intrigued.
“Men who flirt with everyone, disconnected from connection, don’t know love, probably never want to know it, hate being alone but spend most nights lonely, despite who's in your bed– never want to settle down, want me to go on?” For being drunk, you thought you hit the nail on the head with that.
“From what I hear you don’t want to settle down either.” Javi responded back quickly, not taking anytime to ruminate on what you had said.
“Steve’s got a big mouth.” You turned to look at the ocean. Unlike Javi, you couldn’t brush off the comment that easily. “Yea, I said no. And you know what that fucker did? Trashed my shit.” Your anger began bubbling.
“See what wanting to settle down does to a man?” Javi teased you and the humor of it actually brought you down a few levels.
“My parents, they told me to tell him I made a mistake. Beg him to take me back. They think I need a man to take care of me, like I haven’t been on my own since I was 16.” Your head shook.
“What’d Steve say?” Javi was curious but also, he was trying to change your point of view.
“That if he ever sees that asshole again he’s gonna throw him off a balcony.” You huffed.
“Why a balcony?” Javi was intrigued.
“Because he threw the electric typewriter Steve got me off ours.”
“You write?” Javi was learning a lot about you.
“I do.” You nodded with a smile. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Javi. This little knight and shining armor routine doesn’t make you a chapter in my memoir.”
“How long you in Miami for?” He asked starting to stand up and shake the sand off himself, he looked down at you extending a hand out to you.
“Not sure, I can push my flight credits out 2 more times.” Grabbing his hand, he pulled you up and now you two were standing dangerously close. Javi wouldn’t cross that line. Not the line of you being Steve’s little sister, but the one of taking advantage of you since you were drunk.
“I’ve got 4 days, if you’re up for it, maybe we can work on some crazy adventure that’ll make it in your memoir.” His hand was still attached to yours as you stood in front of each other.
You thought about it for a few beats as you stared at him. He wasn’t sore on the eyes, you were so right about that. Would it be the worst thing if you had a little fun, you deserved it, right? No strings, no stress, no worry of proposals and things getting trashed.
“Well it just so happens you caught me when my schedule is completely free, Peña.”
“Well then, let’s have us an adventure.”

SEÑORITA: Chapter 10
pairing: Javier Peña x Murphy!f!reader
summary: Javier contemplates his future. Though he's uncertain of it, one thing he knows for sure: he wants you in it no matter what.
word count: 3.1k
series warnings: reluctant friends to lovers, lots of playful banter, mutual pining, slow burn, secret relationship, filthy smut.
A/N: here we are at long last, lovebugs! I am so thankful for everyone who's supported this series, it encouraged me to keep going especially this year when I've been struggling so badly. I hope you enjoy this drama-free finale❤️
series masterlist | AO3
Javier had made peace with the notion that he would remain forever haunted by Colombia. It wasn’t something that he willingly chose or even wanted, of course, but it remained a fact; he knew he’d never be able to fully escape the life he’d lived while over there, and he’d made his peace with it.
Turns out life had some pleasant surprises in store for him, too.
Saying yes to spending the holidays with the Murphys seemed like it would be something overwhelming for Javier. The mere thought of being introduced to the parents as your boyfriend was enough to make him want to chainsmoke and get drunk for three days and three nights. But as it turned out, the two weeks he’d spent at the Murphy residence had been blissful. Javier would even call himself happy for what feels like a premiere in his life. Ever since the two of you came forward with your relationship, everything else seemed to fall into place and it all became easier somehow. Javier was head over heels for you, he hadn’t smoked in a year, and cut his drinking almost to a drastic degree—yet one thing still loomed over his head, something he hadn’t told you about.
He’d grown to despise his job.
But, much like at his old job, he learned to swallow whatever thoughts and feelings he might have on the matter and do the mature thing and see things through. After all, he has a darn good salary, good apartment, great friends and a terrific girlfriend.
Seemed like the oldest habit Javier picked up, being able to dismantle anything remotely good in his life, would always cast a large shadow that follows him everywhere.
“What’s got you thinking so hard?”
Steve’s voice is tender, caring in a manner, and yet stern and curious all at the same time. It manages to interrupt Javier’s chaotic thoughts, and the latter is nothing if not grateful for it.
Even if he does not express it verbally.
“Not much,” Javier clears his throat.
“C’mon man, give me some credit. We’ve known each other for a few years now, been through some rough and insane shit. I like to think I know when something’s got you down.”
Javier exhales. It’s one of the few times he wishes he’d have a cigarette in his hand right about now; but the craving disappears as quickly as it had arrived, especially when he knows Steve is right. They have been partners through some of the most horrific things anyone could ever be cursed to see, and if there was ever a definition for a damn good friend, Steve would be it.
“It can’t be cause you’re still nervous about finally meeting my parents,” Steve chuckles, and surprisingly, so does Javier. “You passed the test, you’re officially the best boyfriend my sister’s ever brought home.”
“I’m flattered.”
“I’m surprised.”
The two of them chuckle again, the lighthearted sound followed by another moment of silence.
“Much as I’d hate to admit it,” Steve breaks the silence, “you are the best guy my sister’s ever dated. Compared to the parade of leeches that were around.”
“Gee, thanks.”
“Not that she ever brought any of them home to formally introduce them to the family, so it really is a big compliment.”
“Thanks again, I feel all tingly inside.”
“Seriously now, what’s the matter?”
With a final exhale, Javier decides to voice his thoughts for what feels like a premiere in his life. “I hate my job.”
Steve waits, searching his friend’s face for something that eventually fails to appear to him.
“That’s it?”
“Okay, not hate, hate, but… I don’t know, it’s not something I enjoy doing. Not anymore.”
Steve pats him on the back, then gestures him to sit down alongside him.
“First off, I’m a bit relieved,” he begins, much to Javier’s dismay. “I thought you were gonna say something really bad.”
“Like what?”
“Like… I don’t know, wanting to end things with my sister. In which case I would’ve had to kill you.”
“I’m not breaking up with her, fucking hell. Why would I—hang on. So I’m not allowed to break up with her?”
“Why would you break up?”
“I don’t know, sometimes things don’t work out. Constant fights, lies, affairs—“
“You better not be cheating on my sister. I swear to God Javi, if you so much as—“
“I’m not! Fucking Christ, can we stay on topic?!”
“I was just saying.”
“I am not cheating, I am not lying, I am not doing anything bad, okay? I love her, she loves me, and… I’d like for us to get married someday. I think.”
Steve’s jaw drops; the only thing he can do is stare at Javier in awe, trying his best to process the words he just heard.
“You—you wanna get married?” Steve blabbers.
Javier shrugs, then nods.
“With… my sister.”
“I feel like that was implied.”
“So when are you gonna—“
“I’m not saying now. We’ve been together for like half a year only, and… you know me. Takes me time to open up.”
“Wow, okay, this is a lot to process.”
“Good thing we’re sittin’ down, huh?”
Steve chuckles against his best wishes, staring into distance.
“Look, back to the job thing, if it makes you miserable, why don’t you quit? That’s why you left Colombia, isn’t it?”
“Partially.”
“Right. Point is, if you hate the job, quit it. You can find another one.”
“And do what? Do you see me as a barista?”
“A job is a job. It doesn’t define you. And your contributions in Colombia will always remain yours, but—what do you want to do?”
Javier exhales, shrugging again. “I was thinking of going back to Laredo, at least for a little while. Help my pops around the ranch. He’s not getting any younger, he needs some help.”
“Alright, that sounds great, do that!”
“And I was thinking… I’d ask her if she wants to come with me.”
“Hang on. You wanna move to Texas? Both of you?”
“I haven’t asked her yet.”
“What if she says no?”
“Then I guess we do long-distance.”
“Wow. What happened to you?”
Javier frowns.
“You’re—flexible, open-minded, considerate of other people’s feelings… she’s changing you. In a good way.”
The more Javier thinks about it, the more he’s inclined to agree with Steve. He has felt significantly better over the past few months, and even his nightmare frequency has decreased to the point where he’s barely having them. He didn’t want to be as cheesy as to say that you’re the reason he feels the best he’s ever felt since he was a teenager, but what if you are?
What if you are the very best thing that’s ever happened to him?
“So, to recap… you wanna quit your job, ask my sister to move with you to Texas so you can live on a ranch and then ask her to marry you,” Steve says in a monotone voice.
“Basically, yeah.”
“Just talk to her, alright? Talk to her about what you’re thinking, that’s all you gotta do. It’ll work out.”
“Thanks.”
After another moment of silence and a big gulp, Javier adds rather hesitantly, “Do you think she wants to get married? If I ask her… do you think she’ll say yes?”
“She’s the one who has to answer that question.”
“What question?”
Both Steve and Javier turn abruptly to their right, being met with your smiley face. You greet Javier first by briefly pecking his lips, then you nod in Steve’s direction.
“What question am I supposed to answer, you guys?” you ask again, chuckling.
Your smile fades when you see that neither one of them answers you, keeping silent.
“Did someone die?” you ask instead.
“No, no,” Steve fake-laughs to defuse the situation. “All’s good.”
“Okay, so then why do you both look constipated?”
Steve and Javier exchange a glare with one another, thus only reinforcing your suspicions.
“I don’t think I should be here for this,” Steve stands with an awkwardly wide smile. “Gonna give you lovebirds some space and uh… I’ll give you a ring later.”
Javier’s lips pucker and his eyes shoot up right at Steve, whereas you can only stare at them, brows furrowed in utter confusion.
“I mean, on the phone,” Steve laughs, half outside the apartment already. “See ya.”
“That was weird, right?” you ask Javier.
“Don’t look at me, he’s your brother.”
You nuzzle up to him, your hand intertwined with his and your head resting on his shoulder. God, he always smells so nice, of cologne and some musk that you like to think is particular to him and only him.
“So. Wanna tell me what’s going on?”
“Why do you assume something’s going on?”
“I see you acting like school girls with a big crush trying to keep it a secret. Feel like sharing?”
He can’t fight you; he failed to fight you since the beginning, when he was way too stubborn to even see what was right in front of him, so how could he possibly do it now, when your voice is so sweet and caring and you’re so soft and warm?
“I don’t like my job,” Javier finally says. “Haven’t liked it in a while, but I thought I have to see it through, at least till my contract expires, then I’ll figure it out, but… it’s hard.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. How long till your contract expires?”
“Another year, but I don’t think I can stand being around murder cases for that long.”
“I get that. Hits a bit too close to where it haunts you, doesn’t it?”
Javier is the one to meet your eyes first, nodding. Months have gone by since the two of you have become intimate in every possible way, and yet it still surprises him greatly that you are so familiar with the cues of his insecurities and fears, sometimes even when he himself isn’t.
“You should quit your job then,” you tell him, caressing the back of his hand. “You’ll find something else, no matter what that is.”
“What kind of job do you think I could do? Since I trained, this is… this is all that I know.”
“You can do anything you like, honey. You can sell tires, be a flight attendant, anything. That’s not what’s important.”
“What is, then?”
You cup his cheeks, thus bringing him closer to your face as you breathe, “What matters most is that you’re okay. It’s just a job.”
You peck his lips again, and Javier closes his eyes, exhaling a little softer this time. The way you manage to calm him down every time, without fail, is something he would’ve called insanity some years ago—that is, if he would’ve even believed this was possible.
“There’s something else,” Javier murmurs, his forehead pressed gently against yours.
“Tell me.”
“I’m… thinking of going back to Laredo.”
You slowly let go of Javier in order to get a better look at him. You’re not sure what you’re trying to accomplish with such a hilarious move, but it’s the only one your body can come up with for the time being.
It’s not that his news is shocking. Quite the contrary, it’s natural; you suspected at some point Javier might feel homesick, but it seems that actually hearing the words has managed to bring you into an unforeseen state of surprise.
“Okay,” you say after a while, your hands now in your lap as you rummage through his words. “Permanently?”
“I don’t know,” Javier admits. “Would be ironic since I couldn’t wait to get out of that town when I was a teenager.”
You chuckle. “It’s normal, you were a kid wanting to know more. Now you’re a grown man, having seen a lot of the world. Parts of it that could easily destroy someone and yet you—“
“I wasn’t exempt from that, baby. That job did destroy me in some ways.”
“You’re still here though.”
Javier smiles, reaching for your hand. “I’m still here.”
“Going back to your hometown isn’t a bad thing at all, by the way.”
“I know. It feels kinda strange though. But my dad needs help around the ranch, even if he’s too proud to admit it, to me at least, and… that way I could be useful and do things that I know how to do. I could get a job there.”
“Sounds like you have it figured out.”
“Almost.”
You raise your eyebrows, facing him fully again.
“Almost?” you tease with a smile, which prompts him to do the same. “What else are you thinking about?”
“What if you came with me?”
Your whole face lights up, and this time you can truly say you were taken by surprise.
“You’re asking me to go to Laredo with you?”
“I’m asking you if that’s something that you’d like. If not, that’s fine. We can go long distance, I think. Right? I mean, lots of people do it.”
“You wanna do long distance?”
“I’m saying that’s an option.”
“You do realize that’s mostly talking and no sex, right?”
You actually see Javier gulp and visibly reconsider his opinion, much to your personal delight.
“Some sex can be involved,” he pushes much to your amusement.
“Phone sex doesn’t really count.”
“Damn it.”
You chuckle. “But I wouldn’t worry about that, we’re gonna have some great sex, honey.”
“Wh—you mean you’re coming with me?”
“Hell yes. I want to see your roots, meet your family… I hope they like me.”
“Are you kidding me? They’re gonna fuckin’ adore you.”
You smile at him, kissing him again.
“Are you sure about it though?” he checks with you. “I don’t wanna uproot you or anything, and it’s a big change—“
“Do they have a library over there?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Then it’s no problem.”
Utterly bewildered, Javier can only stare at you in awe. He still fears that he’ll forever lack the words to properly express to you how much you mean to him and how he truly feels about you. He’s always managed to avoid sappy conversations and to make up for what he lacks in words with actions, but with you, he feels like he needs to do more.
And there is something more he could do.
“What?” you ask amusedly when his eyes do not peel off of you.
“There is another thing I am thinking about.”
“Which is?”
A smirk graces Javier’s lips, and in that moment you come to realize that not only is it a mischievous smirk, but the reason behind it is something that genuinely excites Javier.
And that is in and of itself something incredible to witness.
“Have you ever thought about getting married?”
You raise your eyebrows and try to stifle a big smile. “About us getting married?”
“No, not necessarily us—well, actually, yes, a little us. A lot. Just—marriage in general. Have you ever… wanted to? Eventually?”
“If this really is how you’re proposing, sweetie, I feel like you can do better.”
Javier laughs out of sheer nervousness by now, but it’s probably for the first time in his adult life when he doesn’t feel embarrassed to be talking about his feelings out in the open.
“I do think about marriage,” you decide to ease his mind and stop teasing. “I don’t think it’s necessary for everyone, but I also don’t think it changes anything in a relationship. If it’s a strong relationship, marriage is only gonna strengthen it.”
“Dully noted.”
“My point is, I would like to get married, yes, since that seems to be the answer you’re after. Haven’t wanted to get married to any of my exes, so.”
“Now I’m flattered.”
“Ooh, so that’s why you and Steven were acting so weird when I got here!”
And then you gasp at the realization. “Oh my God, that’s the question I had to answer, isn’t it? If I want to marry you.”
Javier feels his cheeks flush in the slightest, so he clears his throat and looks away for a little while till he can organize his thoughts.
“Just to be clear, I wasn’t actually going to propose now,” he says. “It was a hypothetical, if I were to ask, would you say yes.”
“You can ask me and we’ll find out.”
Dumbfounded, Javier stares at you for what feels like an eternity. While he’s definitely gotten used to your humor and your bluntness, right now he can’t seem to tell whether you are serious or not.
“Are you serious?” Javier retorts, surprised to find out this is the only thing that he can ask, as silly as it sounds.
“You’re the one who brought up marriage.”
“Yeah but I didn’t mean—I’m not ready now. I don’t have a ring, I haven’t thought about a speech—“
You giggle, pulling him closer to you again. “Aw you’re nervous, it’s so cute.”
“I’m not—“
“It’s cute.”
You peck his lips and smile at him reassuringly. “Look, Javi, it’s great to know that you’re thinking about this too. Means we’re on the same page. But I do think we should give ourselves some more time before making things official. Maybe go to Laredo first, spend some time there with your dad and the rest of your family. Does that sound good?”
“It sounds like a dream honestly. The kind of dream I… didn’t think I could have. Or should have. For a long time there were only nightmares and pain and death, and now… there’s warmth and softness and light. And it’s all because of you.”
“Javi.”
“I mean it.”
“I know you do. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
There was no need for Javier to hide his smiles, or hide in general. If anyone would ask him now how he felt, he’d probably reply with “disgustingly happy” because that is the most accurate description of his feelings.
“Are you sure about Laredo?” he asks you, and you roll your eyes at him.
“One hundred percent. Are you sure about marriage?”
“Two hundred percent.”
You smile. “Okay. So when you have your speech prepared and bought a ring—even if you don’t have to, by the way—you can ask me.”
“What if it’s tomorrow?”
“Then I guess tomorrow’s the day you hear my answer to that question.”
Deep down, Javier knows already. He sees the answer all over your face, he feels it in the way you hold him, in the way you kiss him and in the way you ease his mind and cast the nightmares away. He knows your answer.
But it’d still be incredible to hear it spoken from your lips.

You moaned as you limped onto Javier’s sweaty chest, Javi groaned as he rested his back on the coach with you on his lap. Both of you panting from your steamy session. Strands of hair sticking to your sweaty forehead. Javi cupped your face to kiss you for a few minutes. You whimpered as the aftershock of your orgasm hit you. Javi reached over by the small table to grab his pack of cigarettes and his lighter, he lit a cigarette before taking a hit. You rested your head on his shoulder as he rubbed a hand over your bare back. “You know we can’t keep doing this hermosa,” Javi told you as he blew out smoke, you sighed knowing he was right. “I know Jav, it’s just, you know how Steve is. He would literally kill you if we tell him.” “Let him, whatever it takes to be with you baby.” Javi placed his cigarette on the ash tray before gently taking you off his lap to put on his pants he threw across his living room. You watched him as you did, still bare only with a silk blanket covering your legs. “I just don’t want to cause any problems between you an Steve.” “Hermosa…” Javi quickly zipped up his jeans before walking over to you and cupping your face, “tú nunca eres el problema, ¿me oyes?” You are never the problem, you hear me? You could tell that Javi was being serious, you stared into his chocolate eyes that were soft but hard at the same time. You nodded before sighing, “Sorry.” “Don’t be sorry, if Steve gets mad, let him be mad. You’re a grown woman who has every right to like anyone you seek interest in.” “And it just so happens I love my brother’s agent partner.” You both chuckled lightly before you reached down to grab your shirt to throw back on. “And I so happen to love my partner’s sister.” Javier teased “Well I guess we were made for each other then.” You smirked before throwing your arms around his neck to bring him down for a kiss. He happily accepted before holding you by your waist bringing you closer to him. You sighed into the kiss as Javi groaned lightly. You both pulled away after a few minutes to catch your breath. “I should probably get going before Steve gets on my ass about whatever he complains about.” Javi nodded as he watched you put on your discarded clothing before getting ready to leave his apartment. Javi opened his front door for you as you turned to face him. “I’ll call you later.” He softly nodded before pecking your temple, you wrapped your arms around his torso giving him a loving hug. He pecked your head few times before quickly cupping your face to kiss you properly on the lips. This time slowly enjoying the moment. You pulled away but not for your lips to stop touching. “I love you .” He smiled softly “I love you more hermosa.” He pecked you one last time as he watched you walk towards Steve’s apartment door. He sighed as he closed the door praying nothing bad ends up happening to you and him.
You entered Steve and Connie’s apartment, you took off your shoes before throwing your bag on the couch. “And where in fuck sake have you been?” You jumped at your brother’s voice, you turned to your right to see him in the kitchen drinking a glass of whiskey. “Jesus Steve, can I not go anywhere?” “You’ve been coming back late recently.” “I have a life, let me enjoy it asshole.” “You better cut that shit out. I don’t care that you have a life. I care about you and I don’t wanna find you on the streets of Columbia dead.” You rolled your eyes “Are you serious Steven? Gosh, you’re so dramatic. I know how to take care of myself. I don’t need you babying me like you’re our dad.” He scoffed “Yeah sure, where were you anyways?” You sucked your teeth “None of your business.” “I’m pretty sure it is my business.” “I don’t wanna talk to you right now.” “Would you quick with your bullshit Y/N?” “How about you stop being on my ass about everything?!” You two started to yell now having Connie walk into the living room with a robe on. “What the fuck is going on!” Steve turned to his wife before looking at you, “Steve is just being an asshole right now. Sorry Connie. I’ll be in bed.” “Y/N- Steve tried to grab a hold of your wrist before you put a hand up “Don’t Steve, just don’t.” You pushed passed him as you walked over to your bedroom and closed the door. Connie and Steve stood in the living in silence before she scolded Steve “What the fuck is your problem Steven?” “What is my problem? She’s the one with the fucking problem!” He pointed out into the hallway “She’s a grown woman, Steve. You aren’t her dad, you’re her brother. And yes, you should be taking care of her but that doesn’t give you the right to be disrespectful to her.” Steve sighed knowing that Connie was in the right, he shook his head. “Alright, I guess you’re right. I take it overboard sometimes.” Connie cupped his cheek before nodding, “Thank you honey.” She kissed his cheek before walking back into their bedroom, Steve stood there for a few minutes looking up at the ceiling before following Connie.
Connie was making breakfast for the three of you the next morning. It was awkward sitting down next to your brother after the argument that occurred last night. Steve was drinking coffee while you were setting up the table with plates and utensils. The doorbell ran making you put the last of the utensils down and making your way to the door. You opened it before smiling, seeing Javi smiling back at you. “Hi hermosa.” “Hi Javi.” He quickly kissed you before Steve could see, you let him in before closing the door. “Javi’s here!” You announced as the two of you walked to where Steve and Connie are, Connie turned to head and smiled at Javi. “Morning Javi, You made it in time for breakfast.” Connie came walking over with a plate of pancakes and a plate of bacon and eggs, “I’m always in the mood for your cooking honey.” Connie smiled before setting down a pot of coffee, “Anything about Escobar?” Steve asked his partner that was scarfing down pancakes and eggs, Javi shook his head. “Nothing.” Steve shook his head “Shit.” “How bad is the case getting?” You asked sipping at the fresh batch of coffee “At the point that were fucking anxious.” Javi told you as you nodded softly, “Don’t be, I’m sure you guys will catch that son of a bitch.” Connie told the two boys, Steve sighed before getting up and putting his plate in the sink before walking away. Connie sighed before finishing up her eggs and getting up to start on the dishes. “Sorry about him.” “It’s fine Connie, I’m sure he’ll get over being such a baby.” “What happened last night?” Javi whispered to you, you shook your head. “Just Steve questioning me about where I was so late of the day, you know he is.” He nodded “I’m assuming you didn’t tell him.” You chuckled through your nose, “If I did, you probably wouldn’t even be here right now Javi.” You joked making him chuckle “Got me there hermosa.”
After some time, Steve went to the office to file paperwork he had to get done. Connie and you were at the apartment while Javi was at his room waiting for you. You grabbed your bag before turning to the front door, “Hey, Connie I’ll be back in a few.” “Oh, where ya going?” You stumbled your words finding a lie to say to her, “I-I um, I saw a cute little clothing shop the other day a couple blocks, wanted to check it out.” You gave her a smile as she nodded “Have fun, be careful.” “I will.” You waved at her before closing the door and making your way to Javi’s apartment. You knocked on his door, the door opened in no longer than a second as Javi smiled at you bringing you into his apartment. “Well hello to you to Mr.Peña.” “Hello hermosa.” He leaned down lightly to your height before pecking your lips, “I got takeout and whiskey.” “You read my mind.” You smiled before grabbing the whiskey while he grabbed the food before sitting down next to him on his couch as he put on the TV, you put the whiskey down on the small table by the couch while the food joined the whiskey. You sighed enjoying this moment. Not worrying about Steve being on your ass about anything. Just enjoying this moment with Javi. “I love you Javi.” “Where’s this coming from hermosa?” “What? I can’t say I love my man?” He chuckled at your teasing remark “You can, I’m just saying.” “It’s just that you’re so sweet to me, and I appreciate what you do.” “Well, I appreciate you for telling me this sweets.” “Of course.” You snuggled into his chest while he handed you a cup with whiskey, you thanked him as he placed the food in between you two to share. “Never knew you were the romantic type Peña.” You joked making him shrug “I have my ways hermosa.” “Shocking.” He pinched your cheek at your remark making you giggle, “But it always works on me.” “It better be working.” He joked “Oh, I’m sure it is Javi.” “I thought if we could have a little date later. Just you, me, and some whiskey.” You smiled before cupping his cheek to peck it while Connie was distracted with washing dishes “I would love to baby.” “Sounds like a plan, I should probably go chat with Steve about this Escobar case.” You nodded as Javier stood up and pecked your head before walking towards the living room to talk to his partner about the case him and Steve have been working on.
The sun was quickly setting while you and Javi were teasing each other clearly a bit tipsy from the whiskey. Your cheeks were tinted pink due to the alcohol, while Javi was kissing your neck making you giggle. “Javi! Stop I gotta go!” “Noooo, stay with me hermosa. I love you.” His voiced muffled in your neck as he left love bites and probably a few marks that you would have to cover up. “I wish I could baby, but Steve is gonna be home soon.” “Fuck Steve, stay with me.” He gave you puppy dog eyes that worked all the time with you. “Don’t give me that look Javi. It’s not gonna work this time.” “It worked the other times.” “Yeah, but this time is different babe.” He groaned as he wrapped his arms around your waist while kissing your chest and neck making you bite your lip. You moaned softly trying to fight back this urge of staying with him. “Javi, I have to go.” “I know you wanna stay with me baby. Just stay with me. Fuck if Steve finds out. I love you, and I’m tired of fucking hiding you.” You moaned lightly as he squeezed your ass and massaging the flesh, you felt him growing hard under you. “Javi…” “Come on baby. Don’t you want me?” You stared into his eyes as he cupped your cheek “I- “Hey, Javi. I got more reports on Escoba- WHAT THE FUCK!!?” You jumped away from Javi, as you looked at Steve who was standing at the entrance of Javi’s apartment. Apparently Javi forgot to lock the door earlier while you came by for the little date you two had planned. You quickly pulled up your shirt while Javi stumbled off the couch with his hands out in front of him “Steve let me explain.” “Are you fucking with me right now?” You stood up as as you watched your brother get dangerously close to Javi. “Steve please- “Steve it wasn’t what you think.” “So what the fuck was it then, huh?!?” Steve grabbed Javi by the collar of his jacket and slamming him into a nearby wall making you cry in protest. “Steve! Stop!” You we’re scared something worse was gonna happen “Are you fucking kidding me Javi?!? You’re messing with my fucking sister?!?” Steve kept slamming Javi into the wall as Javi tried to push him off of him “Steve, calm the fuck down!” “I can’t when my partner is fucking with my sister!” You quickly ran up to the two men “Steve! Let Javi go! What the fuck is your problem?!?” You kept pushing Steve out of the way to make him free Javi “What the fuck Y/N?!? Why?!? Are you that mad? Huh?!” “Jesus Steve, it’s not that big of a deal! I love Javi and he loves me! I’m a grown fucking woman!” “Do you even know Javi? Have you seen what he does?!? How do you know he loves you when he fucks every random girl he finds?” “He told me himself Steven! He’s the best thing that ever happened to me, every guy I dated treated me like shit. Javi is not like that. I know him, and there’s nothing that you would say that would change show I feel about Javi.” The tears you were holding back fell down your cheeks, you didn’t even realize you were holding them in. Steve sighed to calm himself as he let go of Javi to fully face you. You hiccuped as you wiped away the tears, “Do you really love him?” Steve asked you softly, he rested his hands on your arms rubbing a thumb in a comforting matter. You nodded as you looked up at your brother, he nodded before looking at Javi who looked a bit shaken up from getting shoved into a wall. “How long has this been going on?” You looked at Javi as he looked back at you, “A couple of weeks.” Javi said making Steve nod and give Javi a glare, “If you ever hurt, disrespect, or make her cry, I’m coming after you Peña. Am I clear?” Steve pointed a finger at Javi as he nodded before Steve looked back at you, “Don’t do any stupid shit, you hear me?” You nodded at your brother before he pulled you into a hug as a way of apologizing. “I love you.” You smiled softly”I love you too.” “I’m just looking out for you.” “And I appreciate it Steve. You just gotta calm down with it. It’s honestly an ugly thing on you.” You slightly joked making him snort and smile lightly at you.
You turned to face Javi before quickly walking up to him and wrapping your arms around his neck bringing him into a hug, his hands wrapping around your waist hugging you tightly “Are you okay?” You said softly “I’m fine hermosa.” “Gosh, that was such a relief. I thought he was gonna actually kill you.” “I would’ve.” You sent your brother a glare before rolling your eyes, “I’m just glad you’re okay.” You gave him a smile making him smile back at you, “So, is this official?” He asked you making you smile wider “Looks like we are Mr.Peña.” He slowly leaned in to kiss you as you pulled him closer to enjoy the moment when it got interrupted by Steve clearing his throat. “Well looks like it’s about time Connie setting up dinner Y/N, we should probably get going. Bummer.” “You’re such an ass Steven.” He shrugged “Desperate times call for desperate measures.” He snickered as he waited for you in the hallway, Javi chuckled as you shook your head. “How about you join us for dinner?” “I would love to hermosa.” You grabbed his hand before walking out into the hallway where Steve was waiting, he looked at you and Javi with a confused look. “Javi’s staying for dinner, now can you start walking? I’m craving Connie’s meatloaf.” You gave Steve a smirk as he looked at you with his mouth opened a bit. “Don’t catch flies now.” “Y/N, you little shit.” You quickly walked off hand in hand with Javi as you turned your head “Desperate times calls for desperate measures.” You teased back as you continued to walk back to his apartment. “I have a feeling he’s gonna kill both of us baby.” Javier joked making you laugh “Well, sucks to suck.” You giggled as you both continued to walk hand in hand and enjoying having each other’s presence without any hesitation.

Hi, Patti! I have a Q about Steve from Mutual 😳
What are his weekend habits like if Connie's not around? Does he jerk off? What does he use? Does he try to get some action?
Steve's weekend habits, you ask? I've had some THOTS about this...
(Can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the Mutual Universe)
Saturday Steve (809)
Steve Murphy Solo
So this particular Saturday Steve is home all alone. Connie flew to Miami for her sister’s baby shower last weekend and stayed all week to visit friends. He’s picking her up from the airport tomorrow and he’s looking forward to her return. Sure, Steve has a high sex drive and he takes care of himself often but fucking his wife is definitely something he doesn’t go a week without doing on a regular basis. He’s not one to be dramatic but he thinks he might be suffering a bit with her extended absence.
I like to think that on the weekends Steve spends time flipping through dirty magazines he keeps under the mattress. You know the ones, the magazines that he and Connie pretend she doesn’t know about but she’s the one who has to tuck them back under there everytime she makes the damn bed. She totally knows about them and she doesn’t even care, but Steve likes it better if they pretend they’re forbidden so she plays along cuz she’s a good wife.
But the dirty magazines aren’t the end game - oh no - they’re just the warm-up exercises. He doesn’t even touch himself when he looks at them, doesn’t even undo a single button on his jeans. He just lets himself get uncomfortably turned on, erection pressing against the denim, flipping through the well-worn pages and then, when he’s starting to feel the sweat forming across his chest, he tucks the magazines away.
He lets himself stay in that glistening, heavy-breathed, semi-hard state the rest of the afternoon. His mind flashes back to the pictures when he starts to soften, getting aroused again, letting himself slowly leak out in his underwear, craving what he’s not giving himself. Denying himself that release. Because he knows the main event is yet to come and all this will make it so worth the build-up.
It isn’t until about 10pm that night, when Javi has brought home his “date” (that he paid for) and they’re getting down to business, that the show really starts. Despite the stifling heat of a spring Bogotá evening, Steve closes all the windows to reduce the street noise. He turns off all the fans, unplugs the fridge, and takes the battery out of the ticking wall clock. He peels his clothes off, laying them over a chair in the bedroom and goes out to the living room, positioning himself right above where he knows Javi’s couch is in the apartment below him.
He lays out his bath towel and sets down a glass of ice water and a tube of KY jelly, then lies himself down on his back on the parquet floor. Only once the moaning beneath him has begun does Steve let his hand close firmly around his dick, pumping his lubricated shaft with increasing pressure. It’s a game for him, a private game that only he knows about and only he can celebrate the wins for. Although - if you think about it - everybody in this situation wins, right?
This particular Saturday Steve has high hopes, he thinks he can hold out until the end, and come at the final climax (with Javi, if you will). He’s done this before and considers it the ultimate goal, the ‘big win’. But poor, pathetic Steve’s aspirations are misplaced. He’s teased himself too much today, been without Connie for too long. He can hear Javi grunting and hear the woman he’s jack-hammering himself into moaning in pleasure and Steve can’t even wait until the woman has her first orgasm before he’s a groaning, twitching, sticky mess.
---
The next day Steve and Connie arrive back home from the airport late-afternoon to find Javi returning from the grocery store at the same time, two paper bags stuffed full in his arms. Connie holds Javi’s door open for him while Steve carries her luggage up the stairs into their apartment. Connie joins him shortly after and says Javi invited them down for dinner, that she’s going to get cleaned up and they can head down to Javi’s shortly. Steve’s disappointment shows on his face and Connie moves towards him, both of them wrapping their arms around each other.
“I thought it would be nice not to have to cook my first night back home from my little vacation,” Connie says, tucking a piece of Steve’s hair back that fell forward onto his sweaty forehead.
“I thought it would be nice to have some time for just us, y’know, to catch up.” Steve replies, enunciating the last words so his meaning is obvious.
“I told Javi we’d need some time to catch up, and he told me that based on last night, he didn’t think it would take that long,” she says.
“He-”
“You must’ve told him how bad you were missing me, huh baby?” Connie asks.
“Yeah… something like that.”

Masterlist. 500 Follower Celebration Masterlist.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang.
Javier swings open his front door, eager to find out who's attempting to punch their way into his neighbours apartment.
"Cariño, if he hasn't answered by now, I'm guessing he isn't home."
You spin on your heel, relieved to be met with the sight of Javier Peña leaning against his doorframe, whiskey in hand.
"Him and Connie rarely go out. I assumed they'd be in," you shrug.
Javi takes a moment to look you up and down. You're wearing a tight dress that hugs your curves just right, and doesn't leave much to the imagination. The colour compliments your skin tone beautifully, and Javi has to remind himself that you are his partners sister. Strictly off limits. It doesn't stop him from staring, though.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer," you wink.
"I'll hang it in my apartment if you like, right above the fireplace," he teases.
You both laugh, the sound echoing down the hallway.
"What do you need, hermosa? Where are you going dressed like that?"
"Dressed like what?"
"All pretty."
You try not to blush at his compliment. He's so smooth, so easy with it, you understand why all of his informants are so willing to sleep with him.
"I'm not going out, I'm coming back. I had a date, and now I've locked myself out of my apartment. I was hoping to crash at Steve's, but I guess that option has gone out the window," you sigh, leaning back against the door.
"Well, come in while you wait for him to get back. You can tell me more about this date of yours."
He steps aside, gesturing at you to enter his apartment. It's not the first time you've been inside, but usually you're with Steve. It feels different now it's just the two of you.
"You don't wanna hear about the date, I promise you. It was fuckin' awful. God, guys suck. It's my own fault, really."
He pours you a drink as he listens, moving to sit next to you on the couch.
"What's your fault, huh?"
"I just needed to get laid, so I put too much faith in him. He did not deliver."
It's now that Javier realises you've probably had a drink or two. You're never usually this open, this brazen with him. He'd be lying if he said it didn't turn him on a little.
"That bad?" he asks, voice an octave deeper than before.
"Worse than you can imagine. I was dry as the goddamn desert. What's the complete opposite of turned on?"
He laughs, the sound rumbling through his chest. It makes you smile, the corners of your mouth turning up.
"It was like he was a teenager," you continue. "He kept grabbing at me. And not in a sexy way. In a clumsy, I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing kind of way."
Javi keeps chuckling, whiskey loosening him up more than usual.
"What the fuck are you laughing at, Javier?" you giggle.
"I just - " he takes a breath to try and stifle his amusement. "You need a real man, cariño. Not one of these stupid little boys. You need a guy who knows what he's doing."
"Yeah?" you tease. "And where am I supposed to find someone like that?"
"He's probably closer than you think," he murmurs.
Javier has, in fact, gotten closer. He's slowly shuffled along the couch so your legs are pressed together. You can feel his breath tickle your cheek everytime he exhales.
"You need a man who puts you first," he mutters, his nose brushing yours. "You gonna let me put you first, honey?"
His tone is low and slow, like golden honey. The timbre of it is shooting straight to your core, lust clouding your judgment.
"We can't," you whisper. "What if my brother finds out?"
"I won't tell if you won't."
Decision made. You lean in, closing the tiny space between you and pressing your lips to his. Javier kisses you greedily, trying to consume you, swallow you whole.
You hitch a leg over so you're straddling him, sitting comfortably in his lap. His hands go straight to your hips, grabbing so hard you know he'll leave fingerprints. You're moaning into his mouth, tangling your fingers through his hair to pull him closer.
Javi tugs your dress up around your waist, kneading your ass with his strong hands. You start to rock your hips slowly, reveling in the way his zipper catches your clit occasionally.
"Come here," he whispers, moving you to sit on one of his thighs. The rough denim of his jeans is a welcome contrast to the soaking material of your underwear, pleasure coursing through you instantly.
You fist your hands into the front of his shirt, using him as leverage. Javi starts to bump his leg up and down as you rock your hips back and forth, both sensations making you whine.
"You look so pretty like this," he groans. "Prettiest girl I've ever seen."
It's like his verbal filter is gone, filth spewing from his mouth in a constant stream.
"That's right baby, use me. Take what you need."
"Told you you needed a real man. I'm not even touching you and look how close you are already."
"You like that, hermosa? You like riding me like this? Fuck, I can't wait to show you what you've been missing all this time, messing around with those stupid boys."
"You're almost there, honey, I can feel it. Just a little more. That's it, atta girl. Just a little more."
His dulcet voice is driving you closer and closer to the edge, your hips moving faster on their own accord.
"Javi," you whine. "So good. So so good."
"Come for me, hermosa. Show me how pretty you look when you come. Good girl. Give it to me."
Your climax hits you like an ocean wave, crashing over your entire body. It's white hot and blinding, muscles tensing and hips stuttering.
You're spent, head falling forward to lean on Javi's shoulder. He wraps his arms around you, tracing patterns on your back soothingly.
"You did good, sweetheart."
"So did you," you chuckle sleepily.
"How about you have a nap, and then I'll show you what else I'm good at?" he asks, teasing lacing his tone.
"Sounds perfect," you whisper, settling down into his lap, face nuzzling into his chest.
Javi doesn't tell you when he hears Steve get home. You look pretty comfortable where you are.

description: when her sister suggests a group night out to the movies, she struggles to keep up their secret
pairing: steve harrington x female!wheeler!reader
warnings: swearing, mentions of the deaths in the movie sleepaway camp
masterlist (one, two, three)
"Do you have any plans tonight?” Nancy asked the minute she reached my locker.
“Hello to you too, dear sister,” I responded. “You know I don’t have any plans tonight because I am indeed a loser with two friends, one of which is you.”
“Shut up,” she laughed, lightly shoving my shoulder. “A group of us are getting together to go to the movies tonight. You’re coming with us.”
I gave Nancy a look before closing my locker and nodding my head for her to follow me. She fell into step beside me as I asked her, “Who is us exactly?”
“Me, Barb, Jonathan, and Steve.”
I nearly stopped in the middle of the hall, but made myself keep walking. I tried not to let my face give anything away, but internally I was definitely panicking over the idea of hanging out with both Steve and Nancy.
“You can invite Holly if you want,” Nancy added. “I understand if you don’t want to hang out with just my friends.”
“I like Barb,” I said. I decided not to comment on my feelings towards Steve. “What movie are you guys seeing?”
“Some horror movie that Jonathan wants to see. Sleepaway Camp, I think it’s called. I told him I’d only go if we had other people with us because I’m not a horror movie person.”
I gave Nancy a look. “You passed up on the opportunity to be alone with Jonathan during a horror movie?”
She playfully nudged me. “It’s not like that. It...it was a friendly invitation anyways.”
“Does Jonathan know that?” I laughed as Nancy glared at me. “Seriously, Nance, what’s up with you and Jonathan? Have you put a label on whatever is happening, or even tried to?”
She looked like she was contemplating answering, but quickly changed her mind and said, “Do you want to come or not?”
I playfully rolled my eyes. “Yes, I’ll go. I’ll ask Holly if she wants to come with.”
Nancy smiled. Before the conversation could go any further, the warning bell rang. She said her goodbyes and hurried off down the hall towards her class. Once she was gone, I let out a sigh I hadn’t realized I was holding and turned into my classroom. Holly was sat in her usual seat next to mine as I plopped myself down in my seat and turned to her.
“Please tell me you’re free tonight,” I said.
“I have a paper due for Mr. Murphy’s English class,” Holly responded. “But I’m more than happy to procrastinate that. Why?”
“I just told Nancy I’d go to the movies with her tonight, but Steve is also going and I’m gonna need someone there to keep me from word vomiting to Nancy.”
Holly gave me a look. “You’re going to have to tell her eventually. She’s not going to be mad at yo when she’s clearly head over heels for Jonathan Byers.”
“I’ll tell her soon,” I told her, although I wasn’t sure if even I believed that. “It’s coming up on mine and Steve’s first month together. I just want to make sure this is serious first.”
It was yet another excuse that I was using to justify my fear of admitting my relationship with Steve to Nancy. I appreciated Holly trying to reassure me that Nancy would’ve be upset, but I wasn’t sure I fully believed that. I couldn’t imagine a scenario where Nancy wouldn’t be upset over this secret relationship.
“Please will you come?” I begged. “I’ll buy your popcorn.”
She thought for a moment before saying, “My popcorn and my snacks. It’s what I deserve for being forced to fifth wheel on this date.”
“You’re not fifth wheeling. Barb is going, too.”
Holly froze at the mention of Barb’s name. I could see the dozens of thoughts going through her head in that moment. I couldn’t help but smirk to myself as I settled into my desk.
The final bell rang just as Carol scurried into the classroom. She glared at Holly and I as she passed us. I glanced over at Holly, who rolled her eyes.
Tommy and Steve had gotten a month’s worth of after school detention following their lunchtime fight, as well as Tommy getting an additional grounding from his parents the entire time, which meant that for a month Carol wasn’t able to see Tommy outside of schooltime. Carol blamed me for the fight and Tommy’s subsequent punishment, which heightened the negative interactions we had already been having.
It definitely was not making my school experience any better, but I had bigger fish to fry than Carol’s petty drama.
~~~~~~
That night, I was sat in the back of Barb’s car as she drove me and Nancy to the theater. The two of them were talking about something, but I couldn’t focus on anything they were saying. My legs were bobbing anxiously as my mind raced thinking about meeting up with Steve at the theater. I wished Holly had come with us, but she insisted on driving herself.
“Hey (Y/N), are you okay?”
I looked up to see Barb looking at me through her rearview mirror.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” I said. “A little nervous for the movie, I guess.”
“I don’t think it’s going to be that scary,” Barb said.
“That’s because horror movies don’t scare you,” Nancy pointed out. “You love them.”
“Holly loves horror movies, too,” I said, hoping it sounded as subtle as I wanted to.
I definitely noticed the look on Barb’s face and felt a slight swell of pride in my chest.
I trailed behind my sister and her friend as we approached the movie theater. I could see familiar figures waiting as we got closer. Holly was in the middle of saying something when Jonathan noticed us and waved. Steve turned to face us and I felt my heart skip a beat. His eyes landed on me and a smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
“Hey guys,” Jonathan said. “We already got the tickets just so the movie wouldn’t sell out before you got here. We were thinking three of us go save the seats while the others get the snacks.”
“That works for me,” Nancy said, and we all agreed to the plan.
We decided that Holly, Barb, and Nancy would save the seats while Steve, Jonathan, and I got the snacks. Jonathan was stood at the counter ordering when Steve slipped a hand into my back pocket and leaned in close to my ear.
“Do you want to share a bag of popcorn?” he whispered.
It was such an innocent and mundane thing, but it still sent a shiver running down my spine.
“S-sure,” I replied. Steve smiled and gave my butt a squeeze before removing his hand from my back pocket. “But I still have to get snacks for Holly. I kind of bribed her to come out tonight.”
Steve chuckled and snuck in a quick kiss before Jonathan turned around.
When we finally got the snacks and arrived at the theater playing our movie, we found the three girls sat near the back of the theater. Holly was sat at the end next to Barb, with Nancy on the other side of Barb, and three empty seats beside Nancy. Jonathan seemed hesitant to sit next to her, glancing once at Steve while he contemplated it, but I nudged him forward to silently encourage him to do so.
That led the last two seats to be for me and Steve.
I passed Holly her snacks and moved past the group to get to our seats. Steve sat next to Jonathan, leaving me the furthest away from Nancy. I wasn’t sure if that would make it easier or harder to hide our secret from her.
The lights went out and the movie started. It seemed very campy - pun definitely intended - so I wasn’t sure what to expect horror wise. I was starting to agree with Barb on the fact that the movie wasn’t going to be scary until one of the first almost kills; the creepy cook getting a pot of boiling hot water dumped on him, causing him to break out into painful looking hives and blisters. I gasped at how disgusting his skin looked as the character’s screams filled the theater. Steve looked over at me and put an arm around my shoulder.
“Don’t be scared,” he whispered. “Honestly, that guys deserved it. He’s a fucking creep.”
“I’m not scared, I’m disgusted,” I responded. “That looked brutal.”
It wasn’t until a few scenes later, where the body of the first actual victim appeared on screen and I hid myself against Steve’s chest that I realized how close we had gotten. I snuck a glance towards the other four, fearing that Steve and I had been caught, only to find that each couple was having their own moment together. Nancy was similarly cuddled up to Jonathan, her head on his shoulder as she peaked up at the screen, while Barb and Holly had started sharing a bag of popcorn and were almost laughing at the movie.
Steve ran a hand through my hair soothingly. It hadn’t realized how tense my body had become (from the movie or from the fear of getting caught I wasn’t sure), but his actions helped to calm me down. I settled against him, deciding not to worry about who would see us and to instead enjoy this moment with Steve before it was gone.
If I had to rate the movie on a scale from 1-10 in the scary department, I probably would’ve given it a solid 7.5. It wasn’t too scary, but the kills were interesting, and the twist ending left me with my jaw on the floor. I was still trying to regain my thoughts as the lights went back up and everyone else started to move away.
“(Y/N), you gotta let go of my arm,” Steve said.
At some point before the movie ended, Steve had moved his arm from around my shoulder to more discreetly holding my hand while I was deep into the movie. I guess I had also started gripping onto his arm at some point because I hadn’t noticed until he pointed it out.
I mumbled a shy, “Sorry”, and dislodged myself from him.
“That’s gonna leave a mark,” he teased. “I’ll send you the medical bills.”
I smiled at him, but I couldn’t help but notice that everyone had stood and was looking at us, waiting. I stood from my seat and followed the group from the theater, a little sad that my time with Steve was quickly coming to an end.
Barb and Holly announced they had to go to the bathroom, which Nancy and Steve also agreed to, so I was left to stand with Jonathan while we waited. I hadn’t had many conversations with Jonathan. I thought he was nice enough guy, and his brother was one of Mike’s closest friends. We just didn’t run in the same circles or anything. Although, that was the same with me and Steve, and look where that had gotten us.
Since I was alone with Jonathan, I decided to finally get his side of the story about him and Nancy.
“So,” I started, drawing his attention to me, “Jonathan Byers, what are your intentions with my sister?”
He started to laugh, but I could hear the awkwardness behind his laugh. A blush started creeping up his neck, which told me all I needed to know before he even spoke.
“I...um...I don’t know,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “We’re just...friends?”
I raised an eyebrow at him. “Is that a question or a statement?”
“I don’t know,” he repeated. “I...I really like her, though. And I think she likes me, too.”
“I know she likes you.”
His face brightened at this. “She does?”
I nodded. “Trust me, I’ve seen her face when she brings you up. It’s like you’re the most amazing thing on the planet to her. She really likes you, and I think, if you were to ask her out in a romantic way, she’d say yes in a heartbeat.”
Jonathan looked down at the ground, a wide smile on his face. I think it would be an understatement to say he loved my sister. There was a connection between them that couldn’t be denied. They both just had to grow a pair and acknowledge it.
Before anything else could be said, Nancy approached the two of us. She looked over at Jonathan’s smiling face and mirrored his expression. I glanced over at Jonathan to make sure he was seeing what I was seeing.
“What are you two talking about?” she asked.
“Nothing,” Jonathan and I said at the same time.
She looked suspicious, but didn’t push the subject matter. “Barb and Holly are still in the bathroom. They’re too busy talking about the movie and how not scary they think it is.”
“I wonder what it’s like to not be afraid of anything,” I said. “Maybe they can teach us that.”
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a little afraid of a movie that’s supposed to scare you,” Steve said as he approached us. “Besides, your little gasps whenever something scary happened were hilarious.”
I sent him a playful glare, but he returned it with a wink behind Nancy’s back and immediately melted away my facade.
When Holly and Barb finally joined us, we made our way towards the exit. Everyone was excitedly talking about the movie now, exchanging our own thoughts and opinions on it. I was about to follow Barb and Nancy to where Barb had parked her car when Holly reached out and grabbed my arm to stop me.
“Hey, I’ll bring you home,” she said. “I need some help with - uh - school stuff.”
I raised an eyebrow at her strange tone of voice, but decided to go along with it. I told Nancy I’d see her back at home and watched as she followed Barb towards Barb’s car.
“What school stuff do you want to talk about?” I asked Holly.
“Nothing, actually,” she responded. “But Steve asked me if I could come up with some sort of excuse to say that you’d be coming with me so that he could be the one to drive you home.”
I looked over at Steve who was still talking Jonathan. He glanced over at me and smiled for a split second, a smile just for me, before turning his attention back to the oldest Byers boy. Butterflies filled my stomach, which I didn’t think could be possible after the two of us dating for nearly a month, but he was constantly surprising me. He made every day with him feel like the first all over again.
When Jonathan finally left, I said goodbye to Holly and followed Steve to his car. As we walked across the parking lot, he slid his hand into him and interlaced our fingers. I looked over at him and, for a lack of a better word, internally swooned over how beautiful he was; the way the moon was lighting up his face, his hair bouncing perfectly with every step he took, the way his hand felt like his hand fit in mine like perfect puzzle pieces connecting together. It still couldn’t believe that I was lucky enough to call him mine.
“If you take a picture it’ll last longer,” he teased as we reached his car.
“Don’t tempt me, Harrington,” I teased back. He chuckled and opened the car door for me. “Ever the gentleman.”
“Always,” he said.
As he started up his car and pulled out of the Starcourt Mall parking lot, I wished he didn’t have to take me home. I would go anywhere with him right now if it meant just getting to have this time together to be an actual couple and not to hide our relationship from everyone.
"Are you worried about what people will say when they find out we’re dating?” I asked.
Steve looked over at me. “What? No, of course not. Why would I be?”
The answer to that question felt obvious. I looked over to see if Steve was joking, but I could see the serious look etched on his face. “Because you’re the big popular guy, and I’m the nerdy math girl. Aren’t you worried how that will, like, effect your social standing.”
Steve scoffed. “Like I give a shit about that. There’s nothing to popularity, (Y/N). Everyone seems to wish for it, but the only time it’s ever a good thing is if you’re a jackass like Tommy and Carol, or that new Billy kid. The type of person who likes to make others feel small and who likes to boss around people they think are lesser than. It’s not something I’m striving to keep.”
He had a point. Up until I actually got to know Steve, I would’ve been convinced that he thrived on the popularity. He was at the very top of the Hawkins High School food chain, the number one in high school popularity. But, ever since getting to know him, I’ve come to realize that wasn’t him at all and, like he said, popularity was nothing.
“Are you worried about what people will say?” he asked me.
I shook my head almost immediately. “I’m only worried about what Nancy will say.”
“I understand that, but you can’t keep this a secret from her forever.”
I sighed. “I know. Everyone keeps reminding me.”
He reached over and took my hand in his as I realized we had pulled up to my house. I looked up at him again and he smiled while giving my hand a reassuring squeeze. “I don’t want to push you into telling her if you’re not ready. But whenever you do want to tell her, I’ll be there with you if you want.”
I smiled and leaned over to kiss him. He cupped my cheek in one hand, pulling me back to him as I tried to pull away from the kiss. I giggled at the gesture and eventually managed to free myself from him after another few kisses.
“I’ll see you later,” he said.
“See you later,” I responded.
I was reluctant to get out of the car, but I managed to pull myself away from the magnetizing charm that was Steve Harrington. I walked up to the front door, paused before opening it to turn back and wave at Steve, before I finally walked into my house. My entire body felt light and fuzzy as I started up the stairs.
“Hey (Y/N).”
I jumped and turned to see Mike standing at the bottom of the steps.
“What are you doing, you weirdo?” I asked.
“I was just getting a snack before going back to my campaign,” he explained. “Heard a car pull up and decided to see who it was.”
“It’s just me,” I said. “So you can go back to your fantasy game without the worry of a crazed burglar trying to break in or whatever.”
I turned to start up the stairs again, but Mike cut me off by saying, “But it wasn’t just you. It was also Steve Harrington.”
I froze and slowly turned back to him. “He drove me home from the movie. Nancy came home with Barb.”
“Yeah, but Nancy didn’t kiss Barb when Barb brought her home.”
And just like that, my euphoric feeling came crashing down around me.
Me? Making Barb WLW with my own OC? Yes, yes I am.
