Part 2: What Then?

I promise I have a life, but I couldn't help writing part 2 today! This takes place the same day as the "Development Day" when Syd and Carmy are thrown off by each other's answers during an ice breaker activity. Post-season 2. Feel-good fluff.

"So those are the menu changes for Chicago Restaurant Week. If you have questions, feel free to ask me or Chef Sydney. You should also have an email from Natalie by later today. Okay, let's prep for night service!"

Carmy closed the meeting, grateful that it was finally over. He was no longer afraid of public speaking after rising in the ranks of various kitchens, but his mind was not in this ever since the ice breaker. He, Carmen Berzatto, had made Sydney's favorite meal ever? The last time he prepared the pork confit and the Milk and Honey dishes she mentioned was several years ago. Back then he was at Eleven Madison Park, a rising star on the culinary scene, who chain-smoked, slept 3 hours a night, and was berated by the EC daily. It was a nightmare peppered with flashes of genius. He was dying to ask her about it, but before he could get her attention Sydney had slipped into the kitchen.

He stared disappointed at the window that separated the dining area and kitchen.

"Hey Bear, what's up with you?" Richie said sidling up to him trying to follow his gaze.

"Nothing cousin."

"Yeah, right. I missed when it happened, but it seems like you crashed and had to reboot during the meeting. Then you were lost in Sydney-land. Want to talk about it?"

Carmy rubbed his eyes and raked his hands through his hair. When he used both hands, Richie knew without a doubt he had hit on something.

"First, cool it about Syd. That handout you gave us was really cute. And yes, there's something on my mind, but it's not for me to say."

Richie grinned and rubbed Carmy's shoulder.

"Fine, just get your head together because tonight is going to be loaded and it includes three anniversaries and a birthday. And second, you need to cool it about her or do something. It's like I'm living in The Wonder Years with Kevin and Winnie."

"What?"

"Oh, right. That's probably before your time. Kids!"

With that Richie sauntered over to the host stands to strategize with the wait staff and hosts.

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Sydney who had a thousand things to do, was adding at least a hundred more onto her plate. She didn't want to appear like she had a moment to spare. She and Carmy could talk at the end of the night as usual, without any eavesdropping. This would also give her time to think of an explanation as to why she never mentioned eating at Eleven Madison Park and that she wasn't a stalker who followed him to The Beef. To top off this awkward sundae, Carmy casually admitted his favorite part of the day was closing, the only time they are alone every day. She hoped no one else had connected the dots on that last part.

The afternoon and the night never went quicker to her chagrin. Even when one of the line cooks was sent home due to illness and a large group put in an order for 7 Fishes two minutes before tickets closed, she thought the night couldn't last long enough. Fortunately, Carmy seemed resigned to waiting and didn't look at her more than usual. In a flash service was over and no one was in the mood to hang around. By 11:00pm Sydney had cleaned her station for the third time and forced herself to go to Carm's office. He sat there pretending to do busy work, patiently waiting like a child who consoled himself that his parents wouldn't make him wait too long to open his Christmas presents.

"Hey Syd...it was a good night," he said softly not wanting to scare her away.

Sydney nodded and took a seat. Might as well get it over with it.

"Okay, yes. You made the best meal I've ever had. During a break at the CIA, I went to NYC and ate everywhere on my list, including Eleven Madison Park. It was a Wednesday night and I ordered several things including pork confit and Milk and Honey."

Sydney couldn't help closing her eyes and smiling at the memory. Her guard began to slip.

"Carm, it was like tasting my future and the best part of my past at the same time. I asked the waiter who made those dishes and he said Carmen Berzatto."

Carmen leaned forward on the desk. Whenever Sydney praised him, he felt like a cactus in an unexpected downpour. He wouldn't waste a single word. Her sunny existence and her belief in him sustained him during his dry seasons. He reached for her whenever he looked at the debt they still owed Uncle Cicero, when his mother finally visited The Bear and cried saying that he had erased Mikey, and even when their success seemed too good to be true. 

Sydney opened her eyes to find him looking at her in the way he had. It was terrifying because she had a very specific plan for her career. It also thrilled her, knowing the power she had over him. Five months ago, she had been begging for his focus and now she knew every her mood, glance, and word she spoke impacted him. Once for the fun of it during a slow night she stared at him until she drew his attention and smiled. He blushed, smiled back, came towards her without saying "corner", and crashed into one of the servers, sending three Michael cannoli to the floor. That was three months ago when she first realized something was going on with him. She'd refused to abuse her power since, going so far as to convince herself that she was overestimating his feelings. Then he said the best part of his day was closing. She hoped, well sort of hoped, that they could maintain this close, but not too close partnership and friendship without complications.

After a long pause Carmen sighed and sat back in his chair.

"So, how did you find me?"

"Well, like I said when we met, it was the job posting. I recognized your name and also The Beef from my dad taking me here."

She shrugged thoughtfully.

"It felt like it was meant to be. It gave me hope for the first time since Sheridan went under."

He nodded.

"It's really strange. You came here because I inspired you and the only reason, I felt capable of attempting something this big was because of you" he said gesturing to the ceiling.

"Yeah?" Sydney whispered.

"Yeah."

He stood up and walked around to sit on the desk facing her. Now, Sydney felt vulnerable looking up at him. It was so easy for him to unnerve her when he spoke this way, like under the table.

Carmy took one her hands and after a moment brought it to his lips.

"Thank you for telling me, Syd. It means a lot."

Sydney was unable to speak. Her throat had closed.

"Soon, is your one year work anniversary and I think we should celebrate."

She nodded.

Carmy set her hand down.

"It's late. I'll drive you home."

With that they left the office, gathered their stuff, and walked to his car in silence.

As they drove, Sydney attempted to talk herself down. Was that hand kiss, an Italian thing? Possibly. It also seemed like Carmy decided to do...something, but what? Worse, she was feeling like they had traded positions in mere seconds. She'd enjoyed having the upper hand. Oh, well. With a goodnight's rest she'd be back in form tomorrow. Maybe "accidentally" brush past him, or ask him to lift something heavy for her and comment on his strength. Then it would be game over for poor Carmy bear. For now, she wouldn't worry about the work anniversary. It was probably just going to be a cake Carm commissioned Marcus to bake.

Ranma 1/2 episode 3. I can't be the only person who somehow, despite not thinking about this series seriously in a long time, still hears "YAPPAPPA YAPPAPPA II SHAN TEN hashagu koi wa ike no koi" in their head when starting up the reboot series.

Where did you come from? I thought I forgot you.

By contrast, the new OP hasn't grown on me as much. Can't imagine why. It couldn't be that I've heard the new one twice but heard the old one eight billion times over the course of three decades, such that any new music in its place is going to inherently sound like an imposter.

Nah, it's probably just that the song isn't good. That's a reasonable thing to conclude.

Uhhhhh, part 1 because I had a lot to say about Nabiki, my fave from back in the day who gets to be in the spotlight for the first time this episode.

Speaking of the OP, this is my favorite shot.

I don't know what it is exactly but every time I see this, there is a haunted look in Ranma's eyes. I don't think that's on purpose. I think he's just supposed to look like he's happily jogging.

But I see a thousand-yard stare on this boy. The look of a person who has seen things that can never be unseen.

Which.

Is fair.

For Ranma.

Rejected so hard. This is a misunderstanding but it's still hilarious how quickly Nabiki nopes the fuck out of this shit.

To be fair, she's seen the way Kuno treats the women he's interested in. If I were her, I would want no part of that.

Ironically enough, Nabiki/Kuno is IIRC the most popular ship for both of these characters. Though, given that being physically strong enough to beat the shit out of him at martial arts is such an important quality to Kuno, I'm not sure he and Nabiki are really compatible.

Makes perfect sense from Nabiki's perspective but honestly I'm pretty sure she's more likely to Black Widow him for his wealth than fall in love with him sincerely.

So begins Nabiki's career of being the absolute worst person in Ranma's life, in a cast that includes multiple people attempting to murder him. Nabiki is something far worse than a shonen rival. Worse than a romantic rival. Worse than a shonen rival who wants to surpass you at romancing your love interest.

She's a capitalist. And she has found a saleable product.

(My characters are always the absolute worst. Goddammit, Nabiki.)

There's something really interesting in Nabiki's reaction to that remark. Like. She gets back into gear pretty quickly after this moment.

But.

Just for a moment.

She had a visceral, kneejerk reaction of shock and disgust at the realization that Kuno was planning on pursuing Ranma and Akane at the same time.

Just for a moment, she had an emotional reaction strong enough to break her poker face.

I mean, she's still going to profit off it. She is a capitalist after all.

But it happened. That brief glimpse into the humanity underneath the cash register was there.

For those unaware of yen to dollar exchange rates, she's charging about $20 for Ranma's photos. Akane's are about $27. So we can actually quantify her feelings for Akane. She loves her sister exactly $7 more than a stranger she met a few days ago.

Don't take it personally. It's just business.

(I felt really gross saying that. Probably because it was really gross. In seriousness, Nabiki is an active participant in Akane's harassment, without Akane's knowledge.)

That said, she does still try to help this situation once she's done cashing in on violations of Ranma and Akane's privacy.

It doesn't take because Kuno aggressively refuses to learn the truth about the Pig-Tailed Girl throughout the series lest it compromise his delusions. But she does try. There seems like there's basically no reason for her to do this except to burst Kuno's bubble.

...except then she also does this when she realizes Kuno didn't get it.

She tried to burst Kuno's bubble and it didn't work so now she's making it worse instead. At this point, it's clear that Nabiki's just starting shit for funsies. She is the show's trickster. Her allegiances are to money and entertainment.

She was expecting a hilarious blowout the one way and when she didn't get it, she went a different route. Goddammit, Nabiki.

Of course, her troll antics eventually blow up in her face when they out her capitalist antics.

But she never really has to face any sort of consequences for it. Right when it seems like things are about to turn against her...

Ranma, rather than presenting a united front against their mutual abuser, decides to open his fucking mouth and insult Akane instead.

This is how capitalists win. They skate home with all the money and no comeuppance while their victims pick each apart.

The sun practically melts into your skin as you walk towards the beat up pickup truck with bags of lunch in hand.

You open the driver’s door and carefully get in, then set the lunch bags on the passenger’s side and shut the door. You start the truck and pull out.

It feels nice to finally get out of the house, it’s been a week since you’ve been out of the house. Only to take the childbirth prep class then go straight home. Bo drove you to it but he was silent, the truck was silent, so you felt you had to be silent.

You felt sad not being able to talk to him, so today you wanted to change that.

You pull into the gas station, another truck sits there, you pull in next to it. You take the lunch bags and step out, taking another look at the truck, you recognize it’s the truck of the guy who first helped you find Ambrose. You smile and continue to walk into the mechanic shop. Bo stands there talking to the man. Both of them gave you when they notice your presence.

“Hello.” You look between both of them, their expressions read like they’re hiding something but you don’t bother to ask. It’s definitely none of your business.

“Oh hey! I’ve been wonderin’ how you were!”

A goofy grin comes across the man’s face. He walks towards you with his arms out, you two meet in a gentle hug.

“Oh I’ve been good! Bo and Vincent have been taking care of me. How have you been?”

You two let go and you walk over to a small table setting the bags down.

“Been doin’ good also! Just stopped by to talk to Bo for a second. Gotta head out though and finish up for the day.”

“I see, well it’s really good to see you again. Should stop by more so we can talk. I don’t think I ever got your name, what is it?”

You set out the BLTs you made.

“Lester, maybe I will stop by now that I know you’re still around.” Lester says, you furrow your brows at the last part and shake it off and nod. “See you two around though. Bye!”

His truck starts, you watch him leave, then turn back to setting food out.

“So, how long have you known him for?” You ask, you pull out a chair and start eating. Bo takes a sandwich and leans against the counter.

“He’s Vincent and I’s little brother.” Bo replies before taking a bite out of his sandwich.

Your brain short circuits before rebooting itself. “Oh my gosh, that’s who the third one was in your family photos! I meant to ask that!” You laugh at yourself. “That’s nice.”

Bo nods, taking another bite from his sandwich. He looks at you, as if he’s trying to figure out what to say.

“So why’re you here?” Bo’s tone is aggressive but his face reads genuinely confused.

“Oh, I-Uhm. I missed hanging out with you. Haven’t really talked to you in two weeks…”

Bo snorts, making you react by scowling at him. He looks away from you, pink comes up his cheeks slightly.

“It’s true! I’ve been missing your voice and stuff.”

“You’ve been missin’ my voice?” Bo teases, he finishes his sandwich and walks over, taking a swig of water. Your chest tightens and hands start to get clammy. A nervous laugh comes out.

“Not like that! Just miss our conversations about, nonsense or whatever. Just little things and I mean Vincent is great to talk to, great listener but he doesn’t really give an opinion like you do! You’ve just been so distant and it kinda made me sad I guess.”

Bo’s brows furrow. “You’re a weird girl.”

“I mean if missing your best friend is weird then I’m okay with that.” You shrug, finishing up your sandwich.

You and Bo make it up to the house around 6:30, laughing your asses off about whatever nonsense story he was telling. You notice his crows feet when he squints his eyes, how big his smile gets and how loud his laugh is. Your face heats up, wanting nothing more than for him to laugh like that all the time.

Bo comes around the truck and opens the door for you, you carefully step out as the two of you make your way into the house. Vincent was already cooking when you two came in. Some form of relief washes over him as two of you walk into the kitchen instead of one.

You don’t bother to tell Vincent that you’re heading to the movie theater. Bo was out running errands today and you honestly had nothing else to do. Going to the movies was something you hadn’t done in a long time.

When you enter you’re immediately hit with a stale smell. You look around and furrow your brows, you knew about Vincent’s wax obsession, you just didn’t think it extended to the movie theater. “Hello?” You yell. “Hellooooo?!”

Where the hell were the workers? You sigh not really caring and go into the theater. A fake usher is in there, you ignore him though and go and sit down in an almost empty row.

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane was not a movie you ever thought you’d see. The plot was honestly interesting and you were a sucker for old black and white movies. Though you usually liked things like Roman Holiday.

No one gets up from their spots and you furrow your brows, getting up you carefully make your way down the stairs and to someone on the end. “Hello?” You poke the person. They wobble and sit back in place.

You release another breath. Did everyone in town just allow Vincent to put his figures where he wanted? How the heck did he even afford enough wax for this?

Your finger grazes the same figure, its ear breaks off of it and bugs crawl out.

You yelp and shudder, bile rising to your throat. You look and notice skull coming from the figure.

No way.

Your eyes widen, in shock you slowly walk back up the stairs and out of the theatre. Your body forces itself to walk back up to the house.

This wasn’t the worst thing you have seen. You just thought you could finally escape from the dead bodies.

Bo sits on the couch watching TV and eating one of the cinnamon rolls you had made. You had gone to bed a little while ago and Bo was about to hit the hay himself when Vincent came rushing in.

“She knows.” Vincent hardly talks, if ever. A panicked look is in his eye.

Bo’s eyes flick away from the TV and he looks at his twin. He stuffs the rest of the cinnamon roll in his mouth and wipes the frosting on his pajama pants.

His brows furrow. “What do you mean she knows?”

Vincent holds out a wax doused ear and Bo looks at it. “Maybe Lester stopped by.” His hands get sweaty. Vincent shakes his head. His throat clearly hurting but he felt like he couldn’t sign these emotions away.

“He don’t go into the theatre and you know better not to touch my figures.”

“Okay, so what if she knows?” Bo tries to play it off, tries to block out the memory of the conversation him and Vincent had the first day you were there.

“We have to kill her.”

Bo shakes his head and stands up, beginning to pace. “No no, we don’t gotta. Come on now.” Bo’s voice shakes, his head is shaking back and forth.

“We said if she ever finds out she has to die. Can’t have her goin’ out and-“ Vincent coughs before continuing. “And tellin’ someone about this.”

Bo and Vincent have a stare off.

“I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“Because if I could kill her I would’ve done it the second she got into Ambrose. Okay? We’ll figure somethin’ else out. I’ll just keep watch of her and she won’t leave town without Lester or I. We’ll make sure she don’t say anythin’.”

“You better. Ma would be pissed if she heard you right now. Puttin’ some girl in front of family.” Vincent huffs, shaking his head before storming off, leaving Bo with his heart aching, and eyes stinging.

This town was about Trudy Sinclair. It always had been from the moment she built that House of Wax. She always felt threatened by other women in her boys lives. Guess that didn’t stop in the afterlife. Why else would you have found out? Gotten curious and snooped around? Trudy must’ve been in your head as much as she was in her sons’ heads. You just didn’t know it yet.

Happy birthday to me. Yes today (Halloween) is my birthday & I wanted to write a fic for me about something super romantic that could happen on your birthday. I had a similar dream to this a while ago so I thought Dieter would be the best person to write this for.

Synopsis: You are in America with your sister celebrating your birthday, your best friend & flat mate Dieter is in England working. But he wants to give you the best birthday present ever, no matter how crazy it is.

OOOH & HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

“Jen” you shout as you run to your sister at the airport. You may now both live in the same country once again, but finding the time to see her is hard. You’re now finally getting praise for your acting & have 2 weeks off before you’re needed for the next part you will be appearing in on this fabulous HBO reboot. Your sister isn’t exactly quiet. Her 5 month old Dylan keeps her busy, she’s not looking forward to going back to work soon from her maternity leave. Her husband Lance is already taking advantage of her being home more than she usually is. So this next week with your sister is going to be brilliant. Just going back to being you, quirky & weird & normal, not the famous actor the world thinks they know.

The hug the two of you have is special. It’s not been long since you saw her, your grandads funeral 2months ago was the last time you saw her back in England. But it was at this event when you realised you wanted to be more than friends with your most famous best friend. He might have a drinking problem, take a few too many drugs, & be a party boy, but when Dieter Bravo turned up at your Grandads funeral it melted your heart. He’d met him 3 times in the 5 years you’ve known Dieter & your grandad always thought he was a very “eccentric character”. But it was as you saw him just standing around the back, not mingling before the hearse arrived that you cried. His hug & the stroke of the back of your hair, soothed you instantly.

“It okay, I’m here, I couldn’t have you go through this alone” Dieter had whispered as you held onto him.

“Shouldn’t you be…”

“Yes but when it’s a family emergency they said I could go & you are like a sister to me…” straight away put in the friend zone again by your crush. You’re used to it though, it no longer affects you. “& you live with me so…” you had smiled at that comment. When you worked on that Tv show that changed your life, Dieter had a role as a recurring guest character, you’d met him before on another job & he helped you calm your nerves. So when there was damage to your hotel in a fire, he was insistent you moved in with him. He had a girlfriend & a boyfriend at the time & you were in a relationship too, so it just worked. No one suspected a thing & knew you were just colleagues & friends. You then just never moved out. You left him money to pay bill & whenever he worked in the uk he always used your place if he was near. You’d always fancied Dieter, who wouldn’t fall for those eyes & that charisma, there was a reason why when he asked anyone do you want to have sex with me they answered yes. He’s just never asked you & one of you has always been in a relationship until the day after the funeral, when your boyfriend at the time saw how you & Dieter we’re with each other & told you to go & find happiness the next day. unfortunately you didn’t act on your feelings with Dieter, knowing he’s in London & your in New York at the moment, it needed to be the right time to act on this & not just jump straight back in.

As you arrive at your sister place & put your things in her guest room your phone rings, so you answer it.

“Ello”

“Babes” your face lights up straight away. Dieter always mocks your English accent & how you call people babes. Your sister sees your eyes ignite in desire so you pull the door to in your guest room & sit on the bed.

“Diets… you ok?”

“No it’s bloody raining again”

“Thats the London autumn for you”

“I know I know, but you never said it was this unpredictable the weather here”

“I’m English it’s normal” he laughs down the phone at that.

“So what making you call at 7pm, did your date not arrive for dinner?” You mock. If Dieter doesn’t have at least one casual date a week, he gets grumpy.

“Ha no, night shoot tonight… we’re actually nearly done in scheduale for once here”

“Well that’s a first”

“So what are your birthday plans? where’s the party at?” He asks enthusiastically. Your stumped. You have no party planned. You know you’re going to be in England for Christmas this year, & all your friends came over at the end of September to see you in New York so your plan is actually quite mundane. Your birthday is also Halloween.

“I’m in Seattle”

“Seattle?”

“Is there an echo?” You both giggle. “I’m seeing Jen, Lance & little Dylan this week, family bonding, you know, I have no idea what they have planned for my birthday.” It’s true you don’t know what your sisters going to do. Your birthday is a Tuesday this year & it’s currently the Friday before.

“Awww how old is Dylan now”

“Not old enough for you to take out drinking”

“Damn it, I wanted to use him as a girl magnet, the ladies love the caring dad side”

“I think they just would like a night with a movie star Diets” you smile down the phone which he can sense down his end.

“Well I’d best rearrange your gift to your sister address then”

“You didn’t have to get me anything”

“I know but after your year which to say has been crazy is an understatement, you need a treat”

“Well thank you in advanced” you pause & so does Dieter you both sigh down the phone. A million words that you want to tell him about how you feel & that you’d just like to live a normal life with Dieter somewhere away from the rest of the world. No fame, no money, no press, just you & Dieter.

“Hey…” he says

“Yes…”

“I…” & then you hear someone shout in the background & him reply.”sorry I’m Needed back on set, I’ll give you a call on your birthday okay”

“Don’t go being a twat Diets” you say quoting hot fuzz a film you both love to laugh to.

“I wouldn’t give you the satisfaction babes” & he hangs up. You secretly wish Dieter would more than satisfy you.

As Dieter hangs up the phone he automatically texts your sister to plan a birthday you won’t forget in a long time, to make sure she is okay & that this can go with her plans she may already have in place.

You smile to yourself as you get things out of your bag. Just hearing his voice makes you feel so much better, not that you were feeling down at all. As you leave the guest bedroom a few minutes later your sister is standing there judging you. Before you speak she cuts you off.

“I heard enough, I know that tone,” she looks down at her phone & see a message from Dieter.

“I just live with the guy, we’re friends, we…” but you see your sisters face & you do a little smirk. “I don’t just want to be another broken-hearted girl without him, so I will settle for what I have.”

“Are you happy with that?” She asks. You pause unsure if you are, but you are saved by Dylan crying. “I’ll get an answer from you one day sis”

Dieter after texting your sister goes to set. Ever the professions for his work, making sure everyone’s okay, down to the riggers & runners. He has the playboy life style in the press but working Dieter is a consummate professional. He does his last shoot for today & heads back to his trailer to get changed. He shuts the door & puts his phone on the dressing table. The mirror he sighs & stares into has photos of him on the shoot & in make up for reference’s & a few family photos too. But noone knows there’s a hidden one beneath 3 of them. His day has been long but he can stay here another 3 minutes to look at the happiest picture he has of the two of you. The one taken After the premier of the Tv show that made you a global star, the after party which everyone in the world was at. You had a boyfriend at the time, but that didn’t stop the two of you from dancing together that night as friends. The theme tune to the show was a custom song written by Ed Sheeran which was slow. Dieter remember how you trembled as he wrapped his arms around you & you both sang the lyrics outloud as Ed performed for actors, crew, press & vips of the event. This was a photo the in show photographer got. Neither of you are looking at the camera as he holds you. Your eyes are shut as you sing out loud one band in the air waving the other holding onto Dieters & his eyes are dazzling. It’s at this exact moment when Dieter realised he wanted you to be in his life more than a friend but this was 18 months ago & since then you’ve both had plenty of work, drama & heart breaks to stop either of you acting on any of this.

Dieter sighs at the photo & then runs his hands through his thick luscious hair.

“I must be fucking crazy”

He leans & takes his phone & calls his agent.

Tuesday arrives. You face time your parents while you & your sister have breakfast. You’ve decided to go on a lake walk & then lunch for your birthday with Jen, a nice chilled fun day. No worrys, no distractions. Just some nice Seattle air, if you can call it that in any major city just being you. Lance has promised to pick you all up some Chinese food for tonight. You’ve put Prosecco in the fridge already. It’s low-key but it’s what you want for your birthday celebration. No more costume parties taking over your special day.

Jens opened the Prosecco & you’re both sitting at the breakfast bar waiting for Lance to return with so much crispy chilli beef & lemon chicken that you will all go into a food coma.

“Dylan, what’s this?” You say in your child friendly voice. He laughs back as you play with Mr Ducky his favourite teddy bear & do the quack noises. His face is amazed & he keeps trying to clap his hand as he sits on the counter.

“No no” Jen screeches as you quickly move the fizz away.

“You mummy Dylan doesn’t want you to end up like your aunty, & it’s a shame your American, no drinking until your 21”

“Ha” Jen laughs “if he is anything like you & me he’ll have hangovers at 14”

“Ahh those were the days” you both joke. Your parents were always very liberal with letting you drink. They much rather you did it in front of them then sneak out & did it.

“Oooh Dylan” you then get a sniff of him. Jen smells it too.

“Did you do a number two” Dylan cackles & the two of you laugh when the front door goes. “Go let Lance in” Jen asks as she grabs the nappy bag.

“Oooh so demanding” you say sarcastically back. You put your glass of Prosecco down & head for the door. There’s a sign on it that says help yourself to the sweets in the box for trick or treaters. You open the door & then freeze on the spot.

“D…D…Di…Dieter?” Your pitch is all over the place, you’re sure your heart has stopped beating. Your eyes meet. Those dark seductive caramels stare at your trembling lips. He’s put a comb through his hair. It’s still a mess as he’s clearly taken his hoodie down as he rang the bell, his hand ruffling through it, that’s his little adorable tick that you cherish each time he does it when he’s nervous.

Neither of you can say anything else. You then decide to step outside & leave the door on the latch & stand with him on the porch.

“What are you doing here?” You eventually after a few minutes of silence trying to work out what you’re both going to say to each other. Everything he had prepped on the flight over & practiced in the hotel room before he left to get here, have all gone out of the window. He’s nervous, this all seemed so much easier in his head over the last few days, but he’s now reduced to just being a man. But it’s the only man you will ever need.

“To wish you a happy birthday I guess… erm so happy birthday…” he’s rubbing his beard as he says it & shifts awkwardly.

“Okay you said that now… thanks… bye” you joke & then so see his face drop. “You’ve still not quite understood after all these years, my sarcasm haven’t you Diets?”

“No, almost, you & your family also have your own unique language” he smiles. The smile is warm & friendly.

“I can’t believe you are actually here to wish me a happy birthday” You beam back at him & push your own messy hair away from your face.

“Couldnt not see you babes” he being genuine in his response, even his mockery of your accent seems adorable.

“I just can’t believe you flew thousands of miles to come & wish me a happy birthday, unless your here for a…”

“No just you, no other work” he interrupts. His puppy dog eyes more loyal & huge than ever. “You deserve the world & I wanted to see how happy you were on your special day”

You fling your arms around Dieters neck & hug him. It catches him by surprise to start with, but the way he holds you a few second later & the sigh that escapes his mouth just confirms he did the right thing. His hand goes across you shoulders & you start to feel weak at his touch. A hug that can solve all the worlds problems.

“You must really like me to fly half way around the world babes…” you whisper into his ear.

“Well actually…” Dieter breaks the hug & drops to one knee. “I think I more than like you” he holds your left hand. “Marry Me?”

You’re in shock, you knew you wanted more than just friendship with Dieter but he’s not even kissed you yet.

“Dieter!? I don’t know what to say”

“Yes?” He winks as his hand strokes yours.

“No”

“No?”

“No… well” you don’t want to turn him down but you want to show him how crazy this is. “Dieter we might be close friends who live with each other but you’ve not even kissed me yet, let alone asked me out or…” you’re interrupted. Dieter is on his feet again, his hand trailing around your face. Intense eye contact & then the most loved filled kiss of either of your lives. His lips feel smooth, the way his moustache tickles makes you smile which make him deepen the kiss. His hands move through your hair & waistline, both yours are on his shoulders. It was probably all of 5second the kiss but time stood still & it felt so fabulous & just right.

“Okay”he says breathily as you break this kiss”… now will you…”

“No” you say before going back in for another kiss, allowing his tongue to explore. You know how good his tongue is, you’ve heard men & women leave his bedroom in your New York apartment thanking him for the oral experience of their life.

“Why not, I love you?” Dieter says as he goes in for the next kiss, you take a step back though, this is all too much to process for you.

“Dieter, I like you, a lot, & in a similar way to you, & yes we don’t have to do the whole getting to know each other but, I’d like to go out for dinner, take this part of our relationship slow, so we both understand each others needs & pleasures. Does that make sense, because once I am happy with that, you can ask me again & I’ll say yes” Dieter eyes widen, it’s not an instant yes, but he knew he’d get one, be it in a day, week, month or year, he’d give you all the time in the world.

“So that’s a one day then, it’s not a no?”

“Yes”

You both stand there & giggle & hug each other before you kiss his lips quickly & shortly. A simple peck but you now know these lips will soon be all over each inch of your body.

“I’d like to take you out to dinner tomorrow, if that’s okay, if we are going to do this your way, I’d then at least like one date”

“Dieter you should no I don’t put out on a first…”

“Bollocks you don’t put out on a first date, I’ve heard you get with guys on nights out or…”

“You gonna let me finish” you say a bit forcefully which makes him twitch in his trousers. It’s always aroused him when a woman knows what she wants & is firm about it. “If you’d let me carry on, I’d have said but with you Diets, your more than an exception to my rule, I mean it’s taken us years to get to this point” your blushing as you say this. “If dinner goes well tomorrow, I might just have to come back to your hotel room” Dieter is now also turning red. Often especially for the last year, has he thought about how he would pleasure you, if your cunt is to die for. He wants to experience everything with you & wants to make you feel special & sexy.

“Well if that’s the case, I’ll upgrade my room”He laughs.

“Why baby, all we need is a bed” he raises an eyebrow at you.

“No baby, if you consent tomorrow, you get the full Dieter experience, I want to treat you like the princess you are, such a good girl for waiting for me to get my act together. To have the courage to tell you how I feel” his hands tremble as they hold yours. He really is in love with you. “Anyone else whod have spoken to me like you have in the last 10 minutes or for the last few years if I’m honest I’d not care, but you baby, I never want to lose you. I want us to be forever. I want to organise our work & lives so we’re in the same continent at the same time & I really just want you to be happy, that’s all I’ve ever wanted. “That’s all I ever aspire to Diets…” you take a deep breath. “I want you to be happy no matter what you do, & if that means I’m just a friend, a room mate, a lover or more, I’ve always been happy to wait because just 5minutes with you feels like a life time of memories” both yours & Dieters eyes fill as you speak. He knows you love him. & so do you. But you just want to wait. Those 3 little words will fall from your lips soon. But your lips are once again preoccupied with Dieters, making out as the moon rises behind the autumnal leaves.

You phone buzzes & causes the two of you to break from the kiss. It’s your sister.

“Jen, she said…”you look at Dieter”you already knew the Chinese was here didn’t you?” You playfully hit Dieter & he scoops you up & carries you inside as you scream in hysterics. “Diets put me down”

“Never” you kick & laugh & Jen & Lance roll their eyes as he brings you back in. He puts you down. “I’m never letting go of you again babes” He kisses you & then apologised to Jen & Lance.

“Well it took you long enough to ask her Dieter” Lance says.

“We can’t all meet the love of our lives at the first day of college can we, sometimes it just takes a little time to realise what you want in life” Dieter says as you realise that enough food was ordered for all four of us.

“I know what I want Diets…” you mumble into another sweet kiss, his lips now feel like they have been yours for years. “I want you” a small sigh happens & then you both say in unison. “& some chilly beef” you both laugh & sit down to eat with your family, with Dieter now a firm addition to to your life as more than just a friend.

What program do you use to draw and what tablet?

I use Paint tool Sai 2 and tablet I use is Veikk A15 pro.

Never. I wanted to draw and learn everything by myself.

4. Do you open commissions, requests, collabs, art trades, etc?

I sometimes take art requests, but I only draw for my friends and mutuals who I trust the most. Maybe I'll open art commissions in the future and for collabs... Well, if you have any ideas, then sure, I'll collab, but if I have more time. Art trades are open.

I use references and inspirations to find more ideas.

Hair, gloves and shoes, although I'm always struggling...

11. How many hours does it take to draw one art and render with SFM?

It depends on the time when I take breaks and shade details or when I'm busy with some real life stuff too.

Easy - 30 minutes

Normal - 1 - 3 hours

Medium - 2 days

Hard - 5 days

Very hard - a week or two

But if I create references for my ocs they take me to draw 2 weeks or a month.

For SFM, they take me 1 day, but if there are nore character in biggest picture, they take me 4 days or a week.

I thought I had nothing of substance to add to this post. However, after internally seething about it for the whole day, I actually have stuff to say.

I take great offense at the stance some people in the fandom take on how ‘BioWare delivered what the fans were asking for all along’. You’ll have to thrust my face into it directly because after spending nearly 50 hours in the game I see none of the ‘narrative’ which is supposed to drive me through it. This game is a hollow husk with none of the substance of the previous entries, a mediocre candy wrapped up in a really pretty cover.

And the worst part? The writing team is not the victim here, they are complicit! They knew what the approach to the writing will be from the get-go - see Gaider’s tweets on why he left. What we got with the veilguard’s writing now in 2024? Exactly the reason he left back in 2016.

8 years, 2 reboots and nothing’s changed. And these people sat through it all and then had the gall to try to actively lie when promoting the game in order to try and appeal to the older fans. Nothing about this game is about the narrative, the quests feel like there were stripped out of like 3/4 of the lines that were initially written for them, characters are one dimensional and are never ever allowed to have any sort of strong opinions and reactions, the world, writing wise, never reacts to anything that is happening on the screen. Don’t even get me started on how they treated the foundation left by the previous games.

And why should I be happy about receiving the single player game? Duh, it should have been like that from the very beginning! The one and only reason we got it is because EA saw that it’s gonna be more profitable than the life service shit they wanted initially! It was a purely business decision on their part and I don’t see why I should be thankful to the team for it.

The writers left on the team knew what it would be like, accepted it and then tried to sell it as their best work possible. Moreover, they already got paid, nothing I can say on social media will ever change that. And I already paid 60$ for this game so I’m not gonna pretend I got my money’s worth. They can just ignore all the criticism like they’ve always done, it’s none skin off their backs.

We’re not in kindergarten, they do not get a golden star for ‘trying’.

Reminder to be kind to the writers/devs as they’re beholden to a much larger company that makes the big choices as far as what they do with the final product. Don’t forget, we almost got live-service online multiplayer DAV. They remade it from scratch, YEARS into the production just to give us what we actually wanted, a single player narrative-driven game.

Are there any romance stories or romantic subplots that specifically worked really well for you? Maybe because they were "good friends being good friends" plots first and "romance" plots second?

it is very depressing to me that for a while I could only give a conditional "yes" to this one. There are romantic subplots I liked up to a point that the writers made decisions about them I thought were weird and dumb, or that I liked in hindsight but didn't really appreciate at the time. And despite having watched a not inconsiderable amount of live-action media, every single halfway good example I could conjure up was from a cartoon.

Catra and Adora have a fascinatingly tumultuous arc to me, but I spent the entire show genuinely believing we'd never get a payoff, and when we actually got the big kiss I was too busy being shocked to really process the ramifications. In my head I'd filed them right next to Charles Xavier/Magneto and Optimus Prime/Megatron, enemies so clearly soulmates with each other but in that special murdery way. I've been planning a full rewatch, so I might get to fully appreciate it this time!

When I watched through Ben 10: Alien Force I remember being genuinely surprised at how much I liked the romantic subplot between Kevin and Gwen. I think because they were both kinda assholes about it, but in very synergistic ways. He's the platonic ideal of an Edgy Emotionally Repressed Lancer but he's kind of too blunt and straightforward to remember to be emotionally repressed all the time, and she's a smart snarky ass-kicker who figures out that they're clearly into each other immediately and bluntly asks him when he's gonna ask her out in like episode three, which completely throws him off his game. It was very cute, and Kevin got in a few good "take the bullet for the love interest to save her" moments that I'm always a fan of, but after the first couple seasons something shifted in the writer's room and Kevin got shunted back down the "actually a dickhead" route and the characters stopped acting like they cared about each other so much. It was a bummer, and since the characters stopped acting consistently in-character I kind of disengaged. But I did like how they handled it early on!

I am, obviously, broadly a big fan of the romantic subplots in ReBoot, as I am with all other major parts of that show. The main one that got focused on was between protagonists Bob and Dot, which was kind of standard background will-they-won't-they fare for the first three seasons - some miscommunications and arguments and daring rescues - until they get in a big kiss in the finale. The problem, as ever, is in season four, when they start doing some really weird sitcom telenovela twists, including a second Bob popping out of a portal and claiming to be the real Bob, and everyone in the show spontaneously sheds 90% of their braincells to forget the fact that their Bob is the one who saved the day over and over again since getting fished out of the Web, so everyone ignores our best boy who actually did the heroics to play favorites with Other Bob. Obviously Other Bob turns out to be a bad guy in disguise, but this is revealed at his wedding to Dot, and it's just fuckin stupid that it would get to that point at all. This is a big part of why I mentally carve season 4 off the canon timeline and just let it end at the season 3 finale.

The other romantic subplot is between Matrix and AndrAIa, who meet as children in season 2 and have a cute kind of mutual crush thing going on before they get lost in the games in the season 3 timeskip and, offscreen, grow up together and enter a fully-established and completely solid relationship. Aside from a brief "matrix gets jealous" subplot in the back half of season 3 that really just serves to reflect his fascinating cocktail of trauma-induced self-loathing issues, they're remarkably stable and play off each other well. I think the fact that we skipped all the romantic will-they-won't-they drama and went straight to "they did, they have, and they're totally good" did it a lot of favors - and despite Matrix being, by any metric, an asshole, it never feels like AndrAIa is settling or putting up with him or tasked with fixing him. It's more like they're each the only person the other truly feels safe and whole around, so Matrix is truly an asshole to everyone but AndrAIa (and later Bob and Dot, his other loved ones) and AndrAIa is not guarded or defensive around Matrix.

Gargoyles also had two different romantic subplots I liked - one between heroes, one with villains. Goliath and Elisa have a great dynamic that's a little less will-they-won't-they and a little more of an unspoken agreement, "we're both really into each other but we also don't really think this can happen on account of being fully different species and we're too mature to get dramatic about it." Since they're basically on the same page about it, they don't have much in the way of drama or miscommunication, it's just all that good "rescuing each other from peril" content I like.

On the villain side, David Xanatos and Fox had a surprisingly wholesome relationship considering they're full-blown villains for the first couple seasons. It's a case where their romantic subplot made them both better people in the long run as they developed priorities that weren't selfish. They ALSO skipped all the will-they-won't-they and went straight into a wholesome, committed, mutually supportive relationship.

I do also recall being genuinely surprised how much I liked the romantic subplot between Trevor Belmont and Sypha. I think what made it work for me was the tendency for them to clearly and honestly communicate with each other - about more than just their romantic subplot. There's a great bit in season 4 where they just sit down and are like "everything's been happening a LOT lately, let's talk about how we feel about that", and I appreciated the moment I think is in season 3 where they're like "hey… maybe… leaving Alucard alone in his dead parents' castle ten minutes after helping him kill his dad… was bad for him?" It's a romantic subplot that doesn't feel like it eclipses the rest of their characterization and it doesn't mean they stop caring about anything other than each other. And it also skipped over the will-they-won't-they, so honestly no wonder I liked it.

I know there's more, but I genuinely had to google lists of shows to remind myself of the one-in-a-million examples I actually liked, so let's leave it here for now.

Animaniacs Season 3 Predictions

So season 3's segment titles leaked. Based on info that we have about all three seasons, I have a some predictions about a few of them! I'll try not to make the predictions too basic like "Mad Mouse Furry Road will be a parody Mad Max Fury Road" or "Planet Warner will be a segment about the Warners", etc. I'll try to guess what exactly might happen in some of them-specific plot details.

Spoilers(?) ahead!

Santamaniacs : This is most likely a Christmas special (nice-I was hoping they'd do one) about the Warners. Based on the pun it seems like the Warners, for whatever reason, will help/take the place of Santa. At the very least Santa will probably appear. Perhaps the Warner's will act as Santa's elves, or maybe even "reindeer", maybe leading to a joke about them being part reindeer or something, like Wakko's "5% salamander" line.

How The Brain Thieved Christmas Two-Parter : In some recent interviews (or a podcast or panel) Rob and Maurice have mentioned an episode where Pinky apparently gets really mad at Brain. Given this segment is a two-parter (not to mention possibly the first PatB two-parter in the reboot-unless "Groundmouse Day" is), something significant must happen to justify that, so perhaps these are the segments in which that happens! It does seem to be a Grinch parody after all. (also OMG another Pinky and the Brain Christmas special, how exciting!)

Teeniacs : Teen/older Warners?! I'm not sure how they'd suddenly age, but I'm eager to see official designs of the Warners as older teenagers.

Soda-Pressed : There's a gag in season 1 where Dot straight up spoils some of season 2, like "My Sweet and Sour Sixteen" and "Wakkiver's Twist", but she also mentions an episode where the Warners "drink too much coffee". That didn't happen. Perhaps it was pushed to season 3? Yeah the title is a pun involving soda, not coffee, but perhaps it was re-written so they don't accidently encourage kids to drink coffee?

Lawn in Sixty Seconds : OK, so this is a bit of a stretch, but you know how the Warners don't have a lawn? And neither do Pinky and the Brain? Well who does that leave for this segment to be about? Well, you could argue Starbox and Cindy, but their segment titles tend to follow a naming convention (or at least have one of their names in the title), which this title doesn't; but you know who also has a lawn?

I'm just saying, there's a rumour going 'round that a certain squirrel is in season 3-perhaps this will be a segment about how she mows her lawn? Then again, they do place the Warners in random locations for their segments all the time, so who knows?

Season 3 and Wb : This one I'm confident about, it obviously must be a follow-up to "23 and WB". It's probably the first segment of the season, barring a possible cold open.

Ready Warner One Two-Parter : Season 1 was going to have Freakzoid cameo that was scrapped because Paul Rugg was busy, however, recently Paul Rugg (the voice of Freakzoid) revealed that he is involved in season 3, so perhaps that cameo is finally gonna happen. It does seem like the segment will be a parody of "Ready Player One", a movie (before someone tries to tell me, yes I know it was based on a book) which has a lot of crossover cameos, so it would be fitting. Not to mention it's another two-parter, so it's not hard to imagine something really exciting would happen, and if there's actual stakes getting a superhero involved makes sense. Also, if she's not getting a full segment, perhaps Slappy might make a cameo here (or maybe she gets a cameo AND a segment or two, that would be cool).

Season 3 could be the best season yet, even if these predictions are wrong I'm excited to see these!

i got busy and didnt update but was just not busy enough to finish season three of the reboot. more thoughts:

episode 8: this episode bothers me only slightly bc the doctor is so mean to rose in this episode. i mean,, i understand why but rose is so human in this episode and the doctor Claims to love humanity so like…ig he does have to clean up a huge mess that his companion created. this episode also sets up a standard that other episodes completely disregard (sometimes you have to create an Extra Problem so that your characters cannot just do the Obvious Solution and doctor who is the king of doing this). i mean in episode 1, the doctor is like “the tardis doesnt fly, it just disappears and reappears” but then not even a couple episodes later, we see it flying, so like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i think the most important lesson in this episode is that rose’s dad is kind of an ass. i mean, he’s a sweet ass, but an ass regardless. this stays consistent. anything else?? eh. its not my favorite but its not an offensive episode. its really important for rose’s development, and so i’ll give it that.

episode nine and ten: ABSOLUTE CLASSIC. i keep saying it and its true!! eccleston’s one season is nothing but banger; hit after hit. not only do we get the slightly infamous “are you my mummy” but the bisexual legend captain jack harkness is finally here!! so apparently the two nationalities are British and American.

i couldn’t remember the ending to this episode and i think that’s bc its a bit of a weird one. i adore jack and i wish we had more backstory, but i’ll take what i can get. the effects in this one are…ambitious. i’ll leave it at that. i think the starting concept of a girl taking care of the homeless kids in her area is a Great story, especially bc she’s doing it out of mourning for her brother. the reason i probably didnt remember the ending is bc it gets a bit too shame-y for my liking and the teen pregnancy reveal is weird.

i forgot how often doctor who does two parters. im not offended by it in the slightest and it’s wonderful to get almost two hours of content, especially done well. i just didnt remember this one had a second part

episode eleven: this episode is an absolute delight. im so glad they got the one slitheen actor back because she is really good. her interactions with the doctor are so wonderful and i LOVE how she’s become a “real welshman” in her time there. the resolution sets up the season finale and grants the slitheen a bit of kindness, which i appreciate. i have lots of feelings about mickey that i’ll get into a bit later. they mostly culminate in that i feel bad for him

season finale!! (12 and 13): the beginning is incredibly intriguing! and while i did not grow up watching classic british telly, it’s still endearing to watch shows like big brother and weakest link be turned into modern adaptions (minus the “murder”. well ig it actually is murder in the end)

this is our last episode with jack for a while but it makes up for it because his parts in the first half are Wonderful. we should all strive to be captain jack harkness.

AGAIN, we meet my never ending complaint about the daleks. we’ll meet the cybermen soon, but at least they have an excuse for reappearing!! they keep getting reinvented! the dalek’s keep dying and then poof! more show up and its like. the doctor killed his people and planet for nothing. and this happens so often. i understand there is a desire for nostalgia and the daleks are interesting character and my complaints dont lie with either of these, its just that you cant keep going: “the daleks are finally gone for good!” and then they pop back up 2-3 times a season. i get you want a satisfying episode ending but like. it leaves an unsatisfying feeling across your whole season. ugh

otherwise i am also upset by the concept of this episode too!! the doctor should feel More guilty about not staying behind to help fix things!! he didn’t actually save the day all those episodes ago! you have negated those episodes!! theyre pointless now (except for world building for These episodes i suppose)

i should also specify that this is the same place and similar time to the forehead computer guys. except its about 100 years later and bc the doctor shut down the news network, the earth stopped getting news and went into an absolute panic and the result is a new network that has life or death gameshows that pick contestants at random. the doctor should feel guilty about not thinking this one through and ultimately needing to return to clean up his mess. the daleks would be there regarless but he wouldve learned about this 100 years prior and thus 1) prevented deaths and 2) set humanity back on track For Real

the bad wolf conclusion is also a bit anticlimactic i think. i mean it is epic that rose stared into the time vortex and survived and poggers that she comes back and saves the day, but why bad wolf? like specifically bad wolf? and why add it into everywhere else too? “it leads her back” she was already trying to go back?? bad wolf didn’t leave her any clues about what to do either. idk mann

i think eccleston’s death is a bit light and probably shouldve been more grand, but ig he was only there for a season and ik he wasnt happy with how things were going so in the end i am grateful for his season regardless. and am excited for tennant

i have been inspired by @becausegoodheroesdeservekidneys to rewatch Doctor Who because I find their chronological journey endlessly intriguing and endearing and has reminded me of my favorite episodes

going into it i have to say that my favorite doctors probably go 10-9-12-11 (even though im aware they’ve messed a bit with the numerics?? i mean tennant-eccleston-capaldi-smith) and my favorite companion by far is donna. her relationship and banter with the doctor is So perfect (esp post rose). rose is always great and she is an excellent foil to both 9 and 10. martha wouldve been so good!! if not for her crush on the doctor!! ruins her character and im so glad she eventually moves on and fulfills her badass-ery (although im not pleased it was the military -_-). amy was…i think a wet sock is truly a great description and rory is…worse. i think they did clara just as dirty as martha and i remember disliking her, but i dont remember much or why so maybe its just bc she was so poorly utilized. and bill. bill my beloved. she, too, deserved so much better.

anyway i watched episode one and. eccleston’s doctor is meaner than i remember. i think he needs more time to warm up to rose. and the reason i didnt like mickey is bc. he is useless and also treats rose poorly (which i think he improves as the series continues but, he is Awful in this episode). there are so many episodes i vaguely remember and get so excited to watch again!!

Another Tokyo Mew Mew New episode 1 thought dump no one asked for

(aka: “I’ve slept on all of this and I am now able to think straight after bouncing off the walls all day yesterday”)

⚠️ Spoilers below the fold. These are all opinions. Take them with a grain of salt.

I’ve already made a separate post about the Zakuro foreshadowing, with her playing card being different and her aliens-in-the-hair sequence at the end. I’ve been mulling over all of the theories I’ve seen out in the wild, and IMO the most likely one I’ve seen is that Zakuro works with the aliens in some capacity at some point in the series, or is a double agent. I am still fully convinced she is NOT related in any way shape or form to Deep Blue.

I’ve seen some kishigo shippers out in the wild upset over the fact that their opening sequence isn’t a kiss anymore. That’s okay. The nature of their relationship is inherently creepy, so the fact that the producers are underscoring it in the opening tells us they’re aware that the ship is dark, and they’re not sugar-coating it with a sparkly kiss sequence like in the 2002 anime.

On the contrary, Ryou/Ichigo shippers are getting FED with that ending sequence of them turning into cats. It’s really cute and totally shipper bait.

Back to my favorite trash ship, I know a bunch of kishigo shippers are like “wait, we don’t get the ‘Quiche stole Ichigo’s first kiss’ tension anymore!” and while, yeah, that was a good plot device for kishigo shippers to hang our hats on, the accidental Ichigo/Masaya “whoops our lips touched” thing IS in the original manga. It’s just … not as intense as in the new anime, lol.

The humor in episode 1 caught me off guard in a good way. The writing for this reboot is genuinely SO funny.

My bet on the answer to “why is Mint already here?” is this: I’m guessing Mint’s family is involved in the Mew project with Ryou’s family/is part of some kind of tech VC fund. Mint’s chibi intro talks about her wanting to be involved in her dad’s business one day. I’d be willing to bet her dad’s business is a tech or venture capital company that is intertwined with Ryou’s work, and thus, she helped plan the Mew project / was the first Mew.

Masaya’s new VA is dreamy. There, I said it. I love his new voice to death.

Masaya’s reaction to Ichigo being honest with him about not knowing much about environmental issues is sweet. I’m glad Ichigo is up front with him about being ignorant in the reboot. She comes across as less vapid around Masaya which I love.

The fact that the show is making a point to have Ichigo be undecided on her life path is *chefs kiss*. I use this as a plot device in my fic because I think it makes her character development / personal growth more interesting if she still has a lot of personal discovery to do, and I’m glad they’re doing that here.

Predictions for ep. 2: I think it will loosely be 1) explanation of the Mew project and Mint’s background, so we get more of Mint’s story we missed in ep. 1, 2) Lettuce’s story / battling Lettuce and having her join, and 3) a light teaser for Pudding’s recruitment. I do not expect us to get all the way to Quiche’s intro — I’d be willing to bet they’re saving that for ep. 3. If you read my summary of Japanese Twitter reactions to the first 3 episodes, you’ll know that I’m expecting ep. 3 to end with the zoo animal battle and Pudding joining the team. That’s a lot for one ep, and I think Quiche’s intro will go in ep. 3. So, in summary, I think episode 2 will take us close to the end of the manga volume 1, save for maybe the last chapter.

Poor Chris Hemsworth is having a enjoyable day at the beach unbeknownst to his future he will soon be a new man.

The camera flashes hit him as he takes off his shirt tossing it to the side a drone is on its way down.

The drone opens a bottom section grabbing hold of it he lifts it into the sky flying away to 3-D laboratory.

The drone returns back to my home base in a buzz of excitement releasing the tee onto my table.

Dropping the the tee onto the conveyor belt it starts roll into the machine as it buzzes out like crazy.

The machine glows bright red the pink fog is on high covering up the machine the dna is being analyzed.

I return my gaze to see his body in all its sweat and glorious beauty.

As he runs around the beach with a super

crazed expression leaping into the air.

He spins like idiot with the biggest grin on his face spreading like crazy.

He starts to busy a move doing a sexy super dance slipping on his own feet.

Part 2

I flip a switch with a whirl a bright blue light blows up in the room covering the space up with it.

“Activated by you commander.” The robot is active and ready.

“Begin sequencing and dna analysis.” The voice erupts.

The projector shows Chris slip off his jeans, under shirt, shoes and sock.

His feet embedded in the sand his toes dig in to it and he feels so good.

The processes come to a end causing the real Chris to stop in mid step.

“Shall the CloneAl Chris Hemsworth android begin creation?” The voice questions me.

“Yes CloneAi, immediately as quickie and as efficient as possible.” I say speedily.

��Will expedite with little interruptions.” The AI finally online strides through.

Part 3

Chris reboots back into life with a roar as the program starts to scans every inch of him.

It’s truly fantastic it’s showcasing all of his measurements the last likely his height as the ruler comes to a end.

Once again the pink substance rises to the top of the pod overtaking everything on him.

It sticks to his skin absorbing in it it became his skin reconstructing it perfectly.

“The mixing portion is finish please instruct the rest.” The voice informs me.

“A carbon copy of Chris Hemsworth with a finish matte design.” I add.

“One more scan as well then create the real and only copy.” I state.

“@MCTF21 will be in for a surprise or two.” I think to myself.

“Indeed he will Mwahahahahaha. Oh yes! In to the world bank.” My voice is stern but it is also secure.

Part 4

The pod erupts a bit letting the pink color in the substance fade.

I laugh whole heartedly knowing what is still to come, shutting off the projection of Chris.

The pod begins to shift out of control shape shifting him into the carbon copy.

The pops opens lifting up to let him take his first breath out.

The man stood up facing the wall breathing deeply for a few minutes.

I pick up a stethoscope in my hand playing it on him as I checking his heart beat.

It’s nicely set a good pace no imbalances at all and his breathing.

His breaths are slow, shallow and under my absolute control.

I smack his ass, his back and then his face no reaction at all.

Part 5

“Well you seem healthy enough.” I sigh in a another triumphant success.

“What is going on?” Why am I in here?” He says calmly.

“This one ha spirit, I loathe it…” I state in a heavy sigh.

“That has no relevance to you or this convo we are having.” I continue.

“What conversation?” He asks me even more cute and curious,

“The one we are about it have, by the way it was nice knowing you.” I add frankly.

Before he can react to my lite tap the back of his neck he is out.

“In about five minutes or so you will reboot less problematic.” I think.

“No problems no returns.” I finish.

My mind is made up to do something crazy for my friend.

I built a exact replica of a toy packaging set up down to a t.

With the plastic covering him up prepped him and sent him to @MCTF.

Hello, I saw a recent post of yours and I was a bit confused when you said, "both their dads were turned into Exos also obviously against their will, for objecting to Clovis and trying to expose him. They were both captured and turned into Exos." and was wondering where exactly this was said? I remember reading the Micah lore book but don't remember that ever being said.

It's heavily implied. From Micah's lore book, first bit:

Dad said that's what he was worried about. "I love you, but forget about being safe in 50 years. Micah needs to be safe here and now." He said some of the colonists were going home with the next supply ship. He hoped Papa would join us.

This is Wesley planning to leave and hoping they can all escape together. This happens after Hector and Wesley have an argument. For extra clarity: Wesley (engineer) is "papa" and Hector (psychologist) is "dad."

This is Hector sending a resignation letter to Clovis, including a full expose on all the awful stuff that Clovis was doing, which obviously failed because we later see him as an Exo. Probably because he knew too much.

And the last entry in Micah's lore book:

Dad's been working even more. At first, I thought that meant he'd changed his mind about leaving. But now I haven't seen him for a whole week and my stomach won't stop hurting.

And:

This morning, Papa told me Dad's been sleeping at the factory because he's so busy, but soon he'll get a break. "And then we'll spend the whole day together as a family."

I'm not sure, but I think he's lying.

I think it's implied that Hector was caught after trying to resign and turned into an Exo, with Wesley trying to protect Micah from learning about it. He is clearly distressed and is shown crying a few times in the lore book.

So the plan was definitely to run away together, especially after Hector formally resigned, but seeing as we later see them all as Exos... It's highly unlikely they consented to the procedure. They both also appear to have stayed working for Braytech even as Exos, which can be seen from their voice lines in the Lost Lament quest when you find dead Exos:

Hector-6: Dysphoria, hopelessness, lack of motivation. Crying spells without the catharsis of actual tears. Wesley-2 suffers from major depressive disorder, without psychotic features… for now, anyway. As an aside, he correctly pointed out the redundancy of my taking notes in session. After all, every one of us is backed up to the BrayTech memory bank. But… the ritual is a comforting one. For myself, if not for anyone else.

Hector still working as a psychologist and doesn't seem to remember Wesley? Meanwhile, Wesley is clearly struggling with memories and is forced to reset shortly after:

Wesley-3: Any day now, it'll be time for another reboot. I have all the signs… They say I should do it now. Get it over with. But I… I don't want to forget. Not anymore. I try to record all I can, but… but how can I possibly describe how it felt to hold my son? My… son? I had a… Is this the child in my dreams? The one that says… "What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and… and to walk humbly with your God."

He also seems to have memories of his human life, though he's clearly not sure if they are real. He also refers to Micah as a son which is the only full reference to Micah's gender as a kid, but it's highly unreliable coming from Wesley in this state.

As a side-note, the quote Wesley recites about God is from the Old Testament, in the book "Micah" (specifically Micah 6:8).

I cry about the Abrams every day.

The Forgotten Shounen: Katekyo Hitman Reborn

This is not a “Why you should watch/read khr” or anything like that. This is just me going into the deep dive and throwing my findings at you. I’m making this because khr used to be my favourite series when I was 15 (I had plushees, posters, tradingcards, the art book etc) and now as an adult I constantly find myself baffled at how unknow it seems to be.

1. Okay first what is khr?

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! or just Reborn! is a series by Akira Amano which was published in Weekly Shounen Jump from 2004 to 2012 (with 42 volumes) and got an anime adaption which run from 2006 to 2010 on Tv Tokyo (with 202 episodes and one OVA).

2. What’s it about?

Khr is a parody of the italian mafia and plays in a world where the mafia is heavily influencial. The protagonist is the japanese middle schooler Sawada Tsunayoshi who is known as “No good Tsuna” because of his failing grades, general weak and cowardly personality and weak physics.

He becomes aware of the mafia world when a 2 year old baby called Reborn arrives at his house claiming to be the greatest hitman and declaring himself his home tutor. Reborn was send by the 9th head of the Vongola famiglia who is ready to retire and looking for a new heir. Which of course, is supposed to be Tsuna and now it's Reborns job to shape him into a worthy sucessor.

Tsuna rejects the violence of the mafia world and refuses the position as the 10th. Thanks to Reborn and his general craziness Tsuna meets different people and starts to make real friendships. Reborn wants 6 of those friends to be Tsuna's future guardians, basically a group of people which will be closest to him in the vongola famiglia. Tsuna might have no interest in those positions but the friendships he builds with them become really precious to him.

Reborns arrivial also brings in the enemies of the Vongola family which leads to Tsuna being forced to engage in battles. Generally Tsuna openly avoids fights and prefers to run away but will put himself in danger for his friends' sake or because of something Reborn did.

Through out the series Tsuna matures and gains strenght but he never becomes a power fantasy. He's just a guy with many flaws who grows through the human connections he makes.

Personally I think the relationship between Reborn and Tsuna is one of the best student teacher reltaionships in all of manga only topped by Mob and Reigen from Mob Psycho 100. Especially the last arc really underlines their unique relationship to me.

Furthermore, khr offers a new and unique battle system: The flames. I'm not gonna go into to too much detail but the general idea is that one fights with their dying will flame which basically turns off your the savety switch so you can fight with everything you have. The flames are seperated into different categories such as: sky, storm, mist, rain, sun, lightning and cloud and have different attributes asigned to each one. Tsuna's use of the sky flame and his transformation when using it is still one of my favourite shounen transformations to this day.

3. What happened?

The series did really well and then not so well over the course of its serialisation. After the manga got an anime adaption it increased in populairty and video games, light novels, and other products such as CDs were created based on the series. Reborn is one of the best selling series of Weekly Shōnen Jump and has sold around 30 Million volumes overall. It was and still is very popular in Japan but rather unknown in the west.

According to the article "The Rise and Fall of Weekly Shonen Jump: A Look at the Circulation of Weekly Jump" khr was the 10th bestselling series in Weekly Shōnen Jump, with a total of 7 million copies sold in 2007.

This number increasing to 15 milion in 2008. Which placed khr into the 4th best selling series of 2008 in Japan.

Between 2008 and 2010 those sales declined but still kept strong with khr as the 6th top selling manga in 2009, 8th best selling in 2010 and then 24th best selling in 2012.

In November 2014, readers of the Da Vinci magazine voted khr number 17 on a list of Weekly Shōnen Jump's greatest manga series of all time.

After the anime came to an apprupt stop in 2010 for unknown reasons the manga sells took a visible hit. (Apparently the studio wanted to put the anime on halt because they were busy with other projects and give Akira Amano time to develop her story but I couldn't find any source for this claim) Furthermore, the rushed last chapters of the manga in 2012 declined the popularity of the series even more. There's no offical statement as to why the manga was ended in such a way but it's reasonable to assume that Jump either cut it considering the decreasing sales or Akira Amano choose to end it for personal reasons.

Nontheless, Tsuna not being included in Jump Force (a fighting game where you can play as different characters from Jump) in 2019 even tho he made it in earlier Jump Stars games also underlines the decreased interest in the series.

Rumors on a reboot or anime adaption of the last two arcs surface from time to time but are genereally unlikely. Artland the studio which made khr has gone bankrupt around 2015-2016. It might be taken on by another studio but rather uncommen especially with such an old series.

4. Art style

The khr anime ended over 10 years ago and the old art style might not be appealing to newer audiences.

Especailly because the anime adaption follows Akira Amanos old art style which heavily developed within the years. Here a picture comparing characters in the new art style:

A modern anime adaption in the new art style would be aesthetically pleasing. It would probably look similiar to Psycho Pass since Akira Amano did the concept art for this series.

(My personal art student hot take is that both art styles are unique and fun. Up to this day Akira Amano still has my favourite art style and even if the amount folds in the characters clothing is a little extreme I love it dearly.)

5. Criticism

The show is not without flaws and even if I greatly enjoy it it wouldn't be right not to adress them.

Daily Life Arc:

A lot of people view the first 20 to 25 episodes as fillers and quickly lose intererst in the series. This is due to the fact that Akira Amano inteded the series to be a gag manga and focuses the first chapters on world building, character introduction and comical narratives. It's rumored that the decision to develop the story into a battle shounen was made because the sales weren't doing well enough at first. So the first chapters/episodes may seem titidious but are necessary for the story and the development of the characters. The tonal shift from a more gintama like gag manga to a darker battle focused story can also be offputting to some viewers.

Either way a lot of people blame this arc when discussing why khr never got an english dub or didn't end up on Toonami. I've also read that the manga never finished serializing in the north america. However, it finished in other western languages like german and spanish.

Censoring:

The anime censors A LOT. From Gokudera's smoking habit, Yamamoto's whole character arc which deals with heavy themes such as depression and suicidal thoughts. The general bloodiness of the manga was censored and sometimes whole chapters and characters were left out even if those were important to the devolopment of others.

Filler episodes:

Out of the 202 episodes the anime has around 29 filler episodes which makes roughly 14 %.

Sexism:

Even if Reborn was written by a woman most female characters are rather flat and their storylines often tied to a male character in one way or another.

Genereal things:

Khr, like many other long running series, is sometimes criticised for a lack of world building or unpopular narrative choices.

6. Hope?

Khr isn't exactly dead. As stated before the series is still very popular in Japan and still gets new merch pretty regulary. There are also petitions floating around for a reboot or a new anime season but those never get a lot of traction. Furthermore #Reborn2期アニメ化 (#Reborn2ndAnimation) used to get some traction on twitter not too long ago. Last year the Anime News Network did a poll on which anime the readers would like to see a rebooot of and khr placed second.

Either way here's a collection of recent khr things I could find.

- In 2018 a new bluray set was released in north america

- The khr stage play reached yet another new season

- A mobile game was released last year

- Currently ongoing anime cafe event called "Concerto di Vongola"

- Last month there was an event with the former VAs and stage play actors where they discussed their favourite khr episodes.

- There has been an increase in blind reacts to the openings on youtube which might bring in a new fan base. The biggest one I could find had around 90k views and was made in 2019. On this note check out the soundtrack. The first openeing Drawing Days by SPLAY still makes me go insane (but I'm biased of course)

There also renewed hope for a new season/reboot because Shaman King, Inuyasha and Bleach got anounced for new seasons after a long hiatus. It's important to keep in mind that the circumstances for those series are differnt tho. For example bleachs new anime is often tied to the immense success of the gatcha game.

7. Conclusion

Khr is a series which used to be a flagship for Weekly Shounen Jump and is deeply beloved by it's fans, especially in Japan. It influenced other shounen series like bnha. It would be nice to see it gaining a bigger fanbase in the west :)

After the nightclub explosion, Kervin (GTA Online) is still hunting down the notorious Mr. Wolf the leader of The Bad Guys. Suddenly, Diane Foxington AKA The Crimson Paw rescues Mr. Wolf in fighting against Kervin. The entrances and exits have been blocked by the area by fire debris and now it is just only three. It is time for the trio to give each other the greatest beating of their night.

Another GTA Online Vs The Bad Guys art that I requested by @segamarkiii. I really want to make a one-shot fic about this art. But I don't have enough time because of schoolwork. Anyway, enjoy this piece that the artist made!

Loonatics KR Update: New Characters

Kung Hei Fat Choi! Year of the Tiger has come and Happy Chinese New Year to all and my friends from Discord is still alive for Loonatics KR. Making the fic may take a long while to do but like I said before. In order to stay this project alive, I am going to post characters for Loonatics KR or in a spin-off of Loonatics KR. I am not telling which characters should appear so it won't ruin the story. So here are the characters for Loonatics KR.

However, if you plan to draw my character versions of Massive and Dr. Dare made by me. Please do not fanart, use, or draw my characters without my permission to me. I like to stay my characters safe, clean, and nothing weird or stupid. For the character, Rory ask @draze-a's permission.

2022: Loonatics KR updates and Loonatics R Comics

Hi guys this is @kervinredfire and I just want to say Happy New Year for a fresh start for 2022. I was pretty busy because of the parties I have been for Christmas and New Year and trying to catch up on the original Saints Row games before the release of the Saints Row reboot.

Anyway, let's start off with the updates of Loonatics KR. One year later and we have not published the KR cut and the continuation of Episode 2 yet. However, I may find ways to keep this project alive. I am going to post pictures of characters from Loonatics KR. Some are part of the episode in chapters and some are part of the future chapter or spinoff. Either way, showing the new character artworks from the other artist that I created with words and my group is one way to keep the project alive.

Also, It may be late but I recovered most of the pages from the Loonatics R comic. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift or another anniversary but anyway. You can read and save the images here. These are the only images that I recovered because purpleluckystar was not able to finish the comic. Meaning Tech is the only Loonatic not part of it. But one day after we made the written version of Loonatics KR. I may find a way to find more people who can continue this comic with the KR cut
