Helaena was such an irrelevant character in the book the show writers had to make her a dreamer to make her interesting but it flopped so hard because here's this girl who has foresight and knows most of the terrible things gonna happen and just...doesn't do anything about it. sjm is literally known as the fated mates author of today's fantasy space. she loves the trope, nearly every single one of her endgame ships are mates, and if they're not confirmed it's highly speculated they are (manorian). hell, even her human ships can have magical bonds that tie them to another person, for better or worse (chaorene). she likes her characters to have this connection, for them to find their own, special person that was meant for them and to help them grow and flourish. even if she has elain reject the bond, i can totally see her making her fall in love with lucien anyway, because that would be playing with it, right? and giving readers something unexpected, something e/riels claim they want

but at the end of the day, it's not about the bond, that's just a device to get characters closer to each other. sjm has always been about choice and like it or not, lucien is a choice for elain. she's been making choices, no one has stripped that from her since hybern kidnapped her. stop acting like shippers are taking away a fictional woman's rights for wanting her with her mate

And if it's not, it better end with like the fucking "The Bad Batch will return" title card shit they have at the end of Marvel movies with there being an announcement for a new series that is a continuation of the Bad Batch but it maybe called something else because it doesn't only relate to the Bad Batch.

I see people saying let's get a "Tales of the Clones" and that would be great, amazing even, but seeing as the last two "Tales of the [thing]" were series comprised of two stories focused on two characters (and backstories at that) I don't really see it working out well in tying things up in Bad Batch.

If anything, maybe it'll work, but if they do a "Tales of the Clones" I do hope it follows Rex leading some kind of clone rebellion or something and then also Cody and seeing him go to Tatooine to find Obi-Wan.

Even better? We get "Tales of the Clones" AND an additional other clone show that ties up everything in the Bad Batch.

I recognize that this mostly happens because Obi-Wan is and always has been a direct foil for Anakin, but I am SO tired of all of Obi-Wan's more canon love interests ending up being more about making commentary on Anakin and Anidala than they are on exploring OBI-WAN. It's just sad and I'm so tired of it and I think that until people are willing to write a romance for Obi-Wan that isn't actually about Anakin at all, Obi-Wan should just be made off-limits for romance plot lines entirely. Leave the man alone, please, I am begging you.
