how different Owl House characters might fare in a time travel AU (let's say back from 5 years post canon, dropped into their own body, classic scenario):

Luz: pretty good I think? i feel like she'd be able to convince Eda & King that she's telling the truth pretty easily. other characters would be tougher. post-canon Luz gives off the impression of being pretty smart and savvy plus she'd have the benefit of Glyph Mastery. most likely danger is that she'd end up over-planning and everything would just fall apart. Also the question of whether she'd manage to re-win Amity's heart.

Eda: my gut feeling was 'nothing would change' but that's not fair. would have no issue getting Luz to believe her bcos like Luz just wandered into a fantasy world someone there being like 'hi I'm your friend from the future' would be like aight let's chat. would probably hook up w Raine & their rebellion very early and get a lot of shit done.

Amity: would have a tough time getting anyone to believe her i think. also a much tougher time winning over Luz & her other friends as I don't think she'd be great at handling that situation. I could see her trying to just go it alone.

Willow: hmm i feel like she'd handle this pretty well? i think she'd do a good job of getting other people on side. similar to Luz might over plan it and end up completely losing her mind. would probably be there like 'okay now everyone's together, step one, we go rescue the Golden Guard'.

Gus: I feel like Gus & Willow mutually would trust each other unreservedly in this situation so he'd defo have at least 1 ally. significantly hampered by being 12 years old again. honestly i could see him leaping immediately to 'let's just kill Belos right now'.

Hunter: worst & yet also best option. no natural allies. extremely aware that if Belos suspects anything he is gonna be super dead. saving flapjack would be a very high priority. if we're sending him back to the beginning of s1 tho good chance of him just showing up at the Owl House and successfully winning Luz over for reasons of s1 Luz is down for anything; if we're sending him back to early s2 he's having a much rougher time.

Jouno's like the total opposite of clumsy, literally every particle of his being is perfectly coordinated at all times

So he might be upset at first to learn that your motor skills aren't as up to scratch as his are.

You need to remind him that hey, how does he expect a regular ass person to measure up to a genetically modified super soldier? (which is a totally fair argument that even he doesn't rebut)

And after some consideration he's like 'okay fair' and tries to get used to your clumsiness. Keyword being 'tries'; he's not always perfect at tolerating it, but he's doing his best and that's what counts

If you're the kind of person who curses when you stub your toe (or god forbid that thing where you bump your hipbone on the corner of the table for some reason), he's totally cool with that. He's fully okay with swearing

He just doesn't really like when you randomly yell or cry out in pain really loudly/right near him because of the auditory overload

If you cry he will take the time to calm you down and kiss whatever part of your body you hurt better (pretends to hate it but absolutely doesn't)

Uses your clumsiness as an excuse to hold your hand when you guys go out together <3 he also likes feeling your pulse speed up when he touches you

Will randomly pull you in certain directions while you guys are out walking and when you're like 'why?' he'll be like 'you were about to walk into a pole sweetheart' then you turn back around and yeah he was right

Tecchou:

One of my favourite versions of Tecchou is aloof himbo Tecchou so that's what we're going with. Anyways he would be like '...just stop dropping things tf'

It doesn't take him that long to accept that fact that sometimes you're just clumsy without being able to control it and he probably shouldn't trust you with dangerous or fragile object

It probably secretly annoys him a bit at first but he doesn't wanna make you feel bad about

His attention quickly turns to prioritising your safety, so ultimately he doesn't really care

He's really strong so a lot of the time if you have to carry something heavy he just offers to carry it instead. Not only will he be saving you from back pain but he may also potentially be preventing your toes from being shattered under the weight of whatever you would have been carrying

Tecchou would want to cook for you to keep you away from all the kitchenware and appliances, but you don't let him because you know he'll whip up something absolutely abhorrent. Even if you sometimes get nicked with knives or touch hot pans, it's better than eating his food (sorry Tecchou)

He wouldn't want you to leave your place on your own if the weather is rainy or something because that means the pavement/ground is slippery (if you ask him to carry you the chance of him saying yes is surprisingly high actually)

If you ever bump into him, he'll act nonchalant about it but he would be blushing and sweating and shaking and panicking and screaming crying throwing up hyperventilating fanboying dying

Teruko (platonic):

Like most...general traits that a human could have, Teruko would probably make fun of you for it at first

Eventually her teasing would become more lighthearted and silly instead of genuine, but if anyone else tried to bully for you it it's on SIGHT

Teruko can be clumsy sometimes, but more often than not it's just harmless things like carrying a stack of documents and not making sure to secure it so that sheets of paper don't fly off the top

When it comes to her physical strength and combat everything she does is very intentional and coordinated. If you see her actively being clumsy she probably really does not care about what she's doing lol

She's the kind of person to do dart and knife throwing for fun but if you're even in close range of a blade she freaks out and worries that you're gonna fatally wound yourself somehow

If you do end up getting hurt she'll help fix up your injury, like cleaning wounds or bandaging you up or whatever, but she'll chide you about it the whole time (she's hiding the fact that she's secretly super concerned for you)

Absolutely has a phone recording of you tripping and eating shit and always threatens to send it to people unless you buy her food or something like that lmao

Unlike Jouno or Tecchou she's a little bit of a prick and doesn't warn you when you're about to bump into something and then laughs when you bump into said something

I mean she won't let you get hurt hurt but also seeing people get hurt is funny sometimes lmao

Tachihara:

Let's not pretend that this motherfucker isn't also a clumsy bastard

C'mon the two of you are constantly tripping over your own feet let alone each other's feet. You're an accidental chaotic dual MESS

I mean Tachihara is a little less clumsy than you, being a Hunting Dog and all, but if he's sleep-deprived or drunk or something like that he is a literal safety hazard. He definitely doesn't realise how much of a unit he is

As such, he doesn't really mind that you're also clumsy. If you drop things or whatever he doesn't get upset, just helps you pick/clean them up like the sweetheart he is

Also tries to catch you if you trip over (his success rate is improving steadily) but may also fall over in the process so you never really know

He uses his metal manipulation to keep you from getting hurt. If you're in the kitchen and you're about to drop a pot on the ground he catches it before it lands on your feet. Is he really your man if he doesn't use supernatural abilities to keep you from dropping shit

Pretty much every room in the house is stocked with bandaids just in case. You guys almost always have tons of matching ones, along with bruises and random little sores that you have no memory of attaining

Again, if you're the type of person who swears when you stub your toe, the absolute horrific vulgar language that comes out of Tachihara's mouth when he stubs his toe puts you to SHAME

The Dragonscale Amulet: Theory

And finally... literally the reason I made this entire blog. Basically, back in March we had this:

Anyway, I dropped literally everything to catalog the entire breadth of writing, runes, glyphs, etc. in the series so far, all in order to figure out what the hell this means. One theory that has evolved in the meantime is that the symbol on the amulet represents an acorn or seed, but I would like to propose another.

First, let's look at the amulet and symbol, themselves.

The amulet is composed of a dragon scale (allegedly, at least... we haven't seen dragon scales separated from dragons anywhere else) that is red, highly reflective (whether naturally or polished after the fact), and about palm-sized. By that scale, it probably comes from a dragon about Pyrrah's size or a little larger, unless it was carved down to a smaller size when crafted into an amulet. The scale is anchored in a gold setting, with a shape and decorations that have a fair amount of similarity to the Staff of Ziard. (Maybe we should have anticipated an Aaravos/Startouch association.)

As for the symbol, accounting for perspective (to the best of my abilities), we have this:

The symbol is etched directly into the scale's surface. Its lines are less smooth than the ones decorating the setting, which could indicate that it was added at another time (earlier/later) with a less precise tool, or just that gouging designs into dragon scales is hard.

In terms of similarity to other symbols we've seen so far, it could come from a similar system as the symbols in Infantis Sanguine. It also has similarities to a primal rune, though the sharp, wide corners are unusual. Either way, I think this is a pictographic symbol representing an item or concept as a whole, not an alphabetic character—this isn't Laurelion personally going around with a blinged-out "L" necklace.

So what could it be? Well, I propose that it's a heart. Like so:

My initial impression had the horizontal top "crossbar" as the pulmonary arteries, and the vertical center line as the aorta/vena cava, but you could also look at the crossing vertical and diagonal lines as dividing the space into the four chambers of the heart. However, I think there's another direction to go with that diagonal, so let's put a pin in that for a moment.

Why a heart? Because there has a sizeable amount of fairly convincing speculation post-s4 that the dark space in Aaravos's chest is either figuratively or literally representing his heart having been removed. @raayllum's are a lot more coherent, but I've also done my share.

I'm sure someone had this thought before I did, if only because I was super late to the fandom. But I had it!

... okay right, back to the amulet.

Aaravos's heart is also a key part of the "Laurelion and Aaravos are the same person" theory, in part because Laurelion's heart is the center of everything we currently know about them.

Laurelion's heart was pierced by either the as-yet-unnamed Novablade itself or a piece of draconic ivory (i.e. a dragon's tooth) that was later forged into the Novablade, after which "immortal Laurelion was no more."

Aside from creating an additional connection between Laurelion and dragons, making the dragon scale of the amulet even more interesting, let's go back to the symbol in light of the whole "pierced" thing.

Now, TDP has a fair amount of Christian symbolism and imagery to it, some purely because of how deeply Christianity is embedded in western culture but some also definitely intentional. Aaravos was initially framed as a Prometheus figure, but it became progressively more clear that he's a Lucifer one—a tempter, a rebel angel, out to destroy creation. They absolutely know what they're doing with things like the *checks watch* 2019 Aaravos birthday post:

So don't think it's completely insane to take that, Laurelion's death[citation needed], and the amulet symbol, and think of this:

Depictions of the Sacred Heart don't seem to usually show the spear, just the wound, but I wasn't raised Catholic so work with me here. (If you want to get even more Catholic, there's also the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which is almost always depicted with a sword piercing it diagonally all the way through because she's... sad? Look, I don't know.) The idea is that it represents the boundless and fervent love of God expressed through the suffering of Jesus, which... whatever.

I do think it's interesting, however, that we are primed to question Laurelion's "death" and concepts of mortality/immortality, death of identity, etc. in the context of Startouch elves because while there's definitely a possibility that an immortal being stripped of their immortality is a punishment, there's also... a lot of cultural precedent for that as a willing gift of love to a mortal/mortals, whether you're looking at Jesus, Castor and Pollux, or Arwen and Aragorn. So we'll see how that plays out.

Anyway, that's my weird fringe theory: the amulet symbol represents Laurelion's pierced heart.

Hello friend! Thanks for the ask. This is a tough question lol but I'll try my best. In no particular order:

Damian seems cold but is a HUGE animal lover (canon, as an animal lover and activist/future vet, it really tugs at the heartstrings lol)

Jason is a really good cook (fanon/headcannon)

All the batfam members have some sort of chronic pain, jason hip bone spur actually affects him, dick probably has shoulder pain, etc.(headcannon based on canon)

Jason is a lit and theater nerd (fanon and canon)

Jason loves kids and is good with kids (to be fair, I feel like dick is too, fanon based on canon events)

I also want to put some honorable mentions:

Tim struggles to gain weight/muscle (fanon/headcannon)

Bruce is either bpd or bipolar (canon in Titans TV show, fanon/headcannon everywhere else)

Tim is more "book smart" and probably knows more about computers, etc. But not super "street smart" (canon about his computer and other intelligence, fanon/headcannon about lack of street smarts)

Tim's parents weren't super abusive and neither were Jason's (canon /headcannon)

Damian is on the spectrum (fanon/headcannon)

Jason is a hopeless romantic at heart, even if he struggles to show it (can be considered canon with Isabel, Artemis, Rose, but mostly fanon/headcannon)

Barbara is still kickass even in a wheelchair (CANON!)

Jason has, or used to have, some body dismorphia (idk if that's how you spell it, i really struggle with spelling sorry) from going from underweight and tiny to super tall with muscle, practically overnight (headcannon, fanon)

Just kidding! I've only made one purchase for TWST. It was less than $10 and was way back in the beginning for some kind of deal or something.

My 16k gem stash is the product of two years of grinding and selective pulls. I really wish I could say I had some kind of hack but that's really it. I'll talk about how I approach spending resources in the game, though, if anyone finds that useful.

As per usual, I ramble so it'll be under the cut!

1. Pick a favorite character

HEAR ME OUT I KNOW ITS HARD BECAUSE ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE GREAT! But it helps a lot if you're limiting who you're willing to pull for instead of every pretty card that comes out.

Personally, Riddle is my favorite (+ Grim but he's not really a concern card wise) so I'm committed to getting all of his cards. I'd really hate if I couldn't get one of his cards that I really want because I spent my keys / gems on a card that I only kind of wanted. So that's something to think about if it helps keep things in perspective.

All my Riddles!! (I definitely don't have a favorite Riddle shhh)

For example, I absolutely love Ortho's Fairy Gala card. I think it's one of the prettiest in the game! But I didn't pull for it because Ortho isn't a favorite character of mine.

It works the opposite, too. Kalim, Vil, and Ruggie are among my favorites but I've passed on a lot of their cards for one reason or another. I passed on Tsum Kalim because I didn't like the groovy, I passed on Silk Adorned Vil because I didn't like that it didn't have an attached vignette, and I passed on Camp Vargas Ruggie because I didn't like the event itself. While I really love these characters, I'm picky about which ones I'll pull so I don't miss out on a better one later.

For characters that I like quite a bit (top 5 ish), I'll use their free ten set you get on their birthday to try and pull for them. If I don't get them within those ten pulls, I accept it and move on.

I also want to say that this method has allowed to me to get pretty much every card that I've actually wanted. I can even pull for characters that aren't among my favorites (e.g. Idia who has THE BEST SSRS FOR SOME REASON??) and still have a big gem safety net.

I don't pull super often, I don't think, but I've gotten everything I've wanted so I think it's a fair trade-off.

Given my gem stash, you might be able to get away with collecting for a dorm but it'd have to be one of the tiny ones (Scarabia would be excellent because Jamil has almost no SSRs rip)

2. Plan ahead of time using JP TWST events

One of the biggest advantages of JP TWST releasing events way before Eng TWST is that we know what's coming ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. Obviously, this won't work if you're trying to save gems on the Japanese server.

You'll have to be okay with spoilers for the English server, too. At least enough to know if a character you like is in the event. I like to look at the card art and groovies, personally, as those will influence my decision if I'm on the fence.

I know which cards that I need to save for in the future:

Riddle’s Swimear SR

Ruggie’s Clubwear SSR

Rollo's SSR (pending available keys)

Riddle's Bloomquet SSR

Vil's Luxe Couture SSR

Vil and Malleus's Tsum SSR (pending groovies)

While we don't have a definitive schedule for a lot of these, a lot of them you can kind of guess.

For example, Riddle's Swimwear SR is part of Stitch's event which seems pretty summer-y to me. It'll likely come out in June or July of this year. Clubwear cards come relatively quickly so I'm anticipating Ruggie's Clubwear SSR fairly soon, too. Gotta make sure I'm saving right now for those bad boys.

Rollo and Riddle will probably come around the same time (Aug-Nov) so I've got a bit of time to build up my collection of keys again.

The others just got released in Japan so they'll take awhile before they reach us and I'm not too worried about them just yet.

I think of it like going to the grocery store with a shopping list. Stick to the list and you know you can't overspend!

3. Don't pull for dorm cards

"That's easy for you to say, Cheekin. Riddle is your favorite character and you can get his dorm card for free at the beginning of the game!!"

Now that all of the dorm uniforms have been released, dorm showcases aren't really a thing but in the event that they do a re-run I would avoid spending keys / gems on them. Same goes for the standard show case. Neither are worth it, IMO.

Dorm uniform cards will always be in the SSR pool regardless of the event, so I think it's better to just take your chances and collect them slowly overtime. Of course, the odds of getting the one you want aren't super high but you'll amass quite a few dorm cards just by pulling for event cards anyways. You're bound to get one you like eventually.

For reference, I've gotten Dorm Idia, Ortho, Vil, Jamil THREE TIMES, Kalim, Azul, Ruggie, Jack, Trey TWICE and Deuce TWICE as a byproduct of pulling for event cards. I wasn't trying to get them but they're here now and I love them for it <3

And that's about it! Nothing too groundbreaking. The biggest thing is knowing when to stop. Sometimes when I'm on that gacha grind high and I want to pull just cause it's been awhile since I've gotten an SSR, I'll tell myself to do it later because 99% of the time I'll just forget and it'll never happen!

I have been burned by too many gacha games in the past that I refuse to let it happen to me again in TWST (cough Obey Me COUGH)

Here are all my SSRs so you can judge for yourself how effective it is. (Or if its worth it)

I genuinely have no clue what the average number of SSR's a player who has been playing for over 2 years like me has, but I'm comfortable with what I've got. I've gotten all the cards I've wanted and most of the cards I was interested in so I think it's worth it.

tldr: be selective about your pulling, plan ahead, and resist the urge to pull constantly

The ring of the phone filled the room, making an echo in the wall and vibrating over the table.

Wonwoo looked at the phone rumbled over the nightstand, not moving a muscle, still sitting on the edge of his bed.

Ring, ring, ring.

"Ah, y/n?" He asked you as he answered the call, not paying attention to the name of the caller in the phone.

An affirmative sound was heard on the other end of the line.

"What happened?" He asked with a soft voice "You calling at this hour..."

Your blank yet sweet tone interrupted him "Oppa, can you come over, please?" you asked impassively.

"Right now?" Wonwoo queried with a smile in his tone.

"Yes, it is extremely important, I need your help to load some things" you answered with a very sweet tone.

"Okay, I get it" he said, confirming what you needed "Which place?"

"Y/n?" He called your name at the entrance of the old house, looking for something in his bag. "I'm coming in," he warned, closing the squeaky door behind him.

Wonwoo walked slowly in the dark corridor of the house carefully to not touch anything nor bump into anything, until he got to the back door. He gasped at the sight of you sitting beside a girl with the same uniform of your school, but when he saw your smile, even if your face was splashed with blood, it calmed him.

"It looks like this time you made it very extravagant too, pretty doll" your friend said giggling softly.

"I'm sorry for calling you so late," you said, insecure, making weird figures on the floor with the splattered red fluid, due to the cute nickname.

In fact, it was three in the morning, but you were there in front of him with your face painted in carmine just like your clothes, and you also had a small ax in your right hand, covered completely in the thick substance, Wonwoo thought to himself that you matched perfectly the ungodly hour.

"Don't worry, it doesn't bother me, because it’s you" his voice caressed your ears like honey while he was still looking for something in his bag.

A victorious sound came out of his mouth when he finally found it "Take here" he said lending to you a plastic bag with clean clothes "You have to change your clothes, I brought you some of the things you have on my house"

"Ooh, thank u, Wonwoo '' you went to hug him, but he stopped you.

"Go take a shower, I'll clean here" he demanded, putting on gloves.

You nodded and went quickly to take a bath. Wonwoo fixed his scarf leaving the ends in his back so they wouldn't get stained, he looked closely at the dead girl and finally remembered her, she was his desk-mate in chemistry, understandably he didn't recognize her at first glance, the fair skin of her face was covered in cuts and scratches.

That day... he helped her carry some papers to the principal's office, probably you didn't know her. He looked at the girl with a tired expression and opened his mouth.

"Y/n!, what do you think is faster!?, clean everything with water or get it all out through the back door!?" He shouted high enough for you to hear him.

"I would only use a bucket to do it" you yelled in response and Wonwoo could help but chuckle.

"Of course you would" he mumbled getting out of his duffle bag a container with sodium peroxide, he got up and exited the house, grabbing the bucket beside the tap that was sticking out of the house, the water was freezing cold, he continued, putting a layer of the yellowish powder in the water.

He entered once again, still hearing the shower upstairs, he knelt and started to clean, the ceramic was starting to look more and more white, making Wonwoo feel proud, and at the same time, the girl's body was starting to become a hindrance.

"Uff" sighed the man zipping the black duffel bag.

The chirp of the wooden stairs makes him notice that you finally had finished washing.

"Welcome back" Wonwoo said brightly, while you finished putting your glove in your right hand.

"I'm wrapping up here" he commented grabbing the huge bag where the body was hidden, he lifted it and put it in his shoulder, and you looked at him with your mouth shut

"Let's go"

You were walking in the little forest behind the house, stepping through the trees, sticks breaking below your feet, you couldn't stop biting onto your lower lip nervously.

"Oppa, I'm sorry" your tone was solemn, and the older heart ached a little.

"Hm? Because...?"

"You know… for always being like this” you answered looking at your fingers.

"That's okay, Darling, I'm good with tough work, besides if you carry something so heavy you would become shorter" he joked with a beautiful smile getting close to you to caress your damp hair.

Both of you continued your stroll until you got to a familiar place, it was remote and isolated, very deep into the forest.

"Hey, y/n" he called out, dropping the hefty bag on the floor, now grabbing the shovels that were being held by you, "perhaps, do you like me?"

"I'm not sure" you didn't know what your feelings were, for all you know when you looked at him, you just wanted him to be yours, and only yours.

"I see," Wonwoo whispered with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, both starting to dig in the floor.

You kept digging and digging in silence until the hole was deep and vast enough to fit the body in, once the now naked body was in the improvised tomb, you talked again.

"You definitely hate this part of me, right?" You muttered sadly, looking from the corner of your eye how Wonwoo opened a gallon of sulfuric acid -that he had stolen as from his chemistry lab- and poured it onto the girl's body, putting emphasis on her face.

Jeon hurriedly left the container on the floor and went straight to you.

"Not completely" his calloused hands stroked your cheeks sweetly, his honeyed voice was serious, eyes shimmering with adoration.

"I love you"

"Only you"

"I love you desperately"

The red invaded your face, your flesh was burning under the soft touch of his hands, a timid smile slipping from your lips.

"Okey" you stumbled feeling tender at his words.

Wonwoo grabbed your chin and cupped your lips with his own, the warm embrace making you moan happily, lips dancing and melting together.

"Fuck, it's pouring rain, don't you think?" He said, making a pouting while you looked at him with a big smile.

His eyes fixated on a girl who was classmates with one of his friends, she looked sad at the rain, whispering to herself something about having to stay there all day due to the heavy rain.

"Where's your umbrella?" Wonwoo asked you, with curious kitty eyes.

Your face had a question mark painted on it, and you looked at your bag.

"Is here" you moved your bag jokingly, still smiling .

He smiled at you nodding and went to the blonde girl.

"Excuse me" he called out to the girl whom saw him with intrigue.

"Yeah?"

"You can have my umbrella, my friend and I live in the same neighbourhood, so there is no problem, you can lend it back later" his voice was sweet and the cheeks of the blonde were tinted in a cute shade of pink.

You saw them, and the smile that was brightening your face was nowhere to be seen, eyes glaring at the girl, when you saw your friend turn in your direction your face moved quickly to keep watching the rain.

"Y/n, I don't have an umbrella, mind to share?"smile favouring his pretty face.

"It's okay" You said in a mutter, barely perceptible. 

Wonwoo was there, once again, sitting on the edge of his bed, phone in hand, smile drawn in his face while looking at the dark screen, eyes dropping off instantly in the clock on his bed-site, 3:00 a.m screaming in a green fluorescent light.

His phone vibrated in his hand, an obnoxious melody filling the room annoyingly.

ILY ILY, a transliteration of "Ili-Ili Tulog Anay", incorporates the melody and lyrics of the Ilonggo lullaby it derives its title from. The MV and lyrics both work together to portray the experience of being an OFW/having an OFW parent. OFWs, or overseas Filipino workers, refer to Filipinos who go abroad in search of jobs that have better pay, so that they can remit money back to their families in the Philippines.

personal opinion: this is their best song THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG EVER OF ALL TIME and lyca gairanod is such a perfect singer for this. her ethereal crooning really gave me chills the first time i heard it UGH

DAYANG, the term for the wife of a Datu, is one of their most earworming songs ever. It's a gorgeous love song and what I would recommend to newbies if they want to get into alamat <3

personal opinion: The MV is kinda ass because it's just a super long extended ad for DITO PH (in terms of story and also bc they really missed out on doing a vid that drew more on culture esp bc dayang is a historical noble title and they used tausug words and designs for the graphics an the dance itself already incorporated pangasik dance which is also from the tausug people LIKEEE?? they've always promoted other cultures of the philippines i know they can do it but because of CAPITALISM--). DAGUNDONG, a song basically recounting the colonial history of the Philippines from Spain to America, is just so fucking good you should watch/listen to it rn. Aug-UST Day 21 - Only You Can Understand

[TRANSCRIBER'S NOTE: Hey! It's me, your favorite supervillain, Ion. So, clearly I haven't gotten to this point in my story, so there's a lot of detail between here and there that's missing... buuuut I'm processing some emotions, so I'm going to just dramadump.

Okay, context for anyone who's just now catching up:

Y'all remember Janice? From super hero media relations? (Also Emily's ex girlfriend) So basically, she got caught in some sort of particle accelerator accident (as one does) and decided to go on her very own super-powered corruption arc (who can blame her?) Anyway, she's currently throwing cars and shit around with her mind. Also she's got like this really badass and really creepy chitinous armor (think like xenomorph queen but with thrashing tentacles coming out of her back). Also she's glowing, like her eyes and the gaps in her armor are emitting this red light. Also, she has telekinesis. It's terrifying.

(Why was she near a particle accelerator? Who do I know who has access to a particle accelerator? WAS SARAH REBOUNDING WITH JANICE?? How did this even happen??)

I don't know. The world may never know.

But yeah... Sarah, aka Lady Lacuna, you know and love her: supervillain, my best friend, Emily's ex, my brother's ex, Emily's brother's ex, Emily and my brothers' ex again (spoiler: trying to get them back together did NOT work out, sorry... She hasn't been doing super great, not since the breakup)

But back to the present situation. Lady L and I are doing a rare team up with the league of superheroes. Me mostly because this is an existential threat to the city where I live, Sarah because... well... maybe she feels responsible for something??? I don't know??

But yeah, Janice is fighting each of us like she's got a fucking personal grudge (which honestly is probably fair, given her job (she practically threw Jackrabbit across the city, so kudos to her for that))

Okay sorry, I'm starting to ramble a little (you know me 😘). I'll try to keep the commentary to a minimum since this bit here isn't really my story.]

[Lady L dives behind an overturned car to join me]

Me: "Did you see where Umbra went down?"

L: "What?"

[oh yeah, I forgot to mention, she's been kinda increasingly distracted this whole fight, like there's something demanding her attention]

Me: "Dude, she swatted Umbra with an I-beam. He went down pretty hard."

L: "Oh..."

Me: "Hey, what is going on with you? You don't need to be here if you can't-"

L: "I'm fine! It's just... They're just very loud right now."

Me: "..."

[I don't really know who "they" refers to in this context, my best educated guess is the tentacle monsters that live in the hell dimension that she opens portals to. She's got like some level of control over them, but I get the impression they're their own things. She doesn't talk about them... like at all, like she's just super cagey about that whole aspect of her powers. I respect her privacy, I really do, but like, I'm dying of curiosity over here]

[I peek around the car and am rewarded with a hunk of concrete and rebar aimed at my head]

Me: "Well, it's too bad you can't ask them to get her to stop. You know she really looks like she... what?"

[Lady L is staring at me like I've just provided the last piece to some puzzle in her head]

L: "I need to talk to her."

Me: "What!?"

L: "I think I know how to fix this"

Me: "Fix what?? What on earth are you talking about?"

L [under her breath]: "Nothing on earth..."

[I make my best "what the actual fuck are you talking about?" face]

L: "Take care of them for me"

[so, "them" in this case could either be John and Dale (her exes) or Art and Hands (the other members of our little unofficial supervillain club). I honestly don't know and I really don't like where this is going. But before I can stop her, she's portalling away, reappearing right out in the open several yards away from our hiding spot]

L: "Janice!"

[a car flies toward her, but she doesn't move. One of her portals redirects it harmlessly into the side of one of the nearby buildings]

L: "I just want to talk"

[okay, sorry, I said I'd try to keep down the commentary, but I have to take a moment to describe this scene right here: We've got Janice, for all intents and purposes, an angry eldritch goddess floating over the abandoned avenue between rows of skyscrapers, surrounded by a halo of assorted rubble and debris, ready to unleash hell on anyone and everyone. Then there's Lady Lacuna, staring her down, all alone in her dominatrix/mad scientist getup, arms spread in this sort of beseeching gesture]

J: "There is nothing left to talk about!"

L: "Janice please! I know what you're going through."

J [laughing mirthlessly]: "How can you possibly know??"

L: "They're in your head. They're making you relive all the worst moments of your life, aren't they?"

[Janice looks genuinely shocked by this]

[again with the "them", pretty sure it's back to hell dimension tentacle monsters]

L: "They feed on emotion. They're keeping you in a loop because they're hungry. I know because I've been there."

[the debris and stuff starts falling and Janice descends towards ground level]

J: "How do I get them to stop?"

L: "You don't. At least, I haven't found a way. I just had to learn how to figure out how to live with them."

J: "I can't... I don't..."

L: "You think you're alone. You've spent your whole life keeping a safe distance from everyone around you, even as you surrounded yourself with people. You don't know how to ask for help? You don't even know who to ask?"

[I think Janice might be crying at this point, it's kinda hard to tell from where I'm at]

J: "How are you-"

L: "They're in your head, but I'm in theirs. I couldn't tell at first, there was just so much noise, but then a friend reminded me about asking for help and I realized what was going on."

[Lady L takes Janice's hand and presses it to her chest]

L: "Close your eyes... You feel that?"

[Janice shudders and nods]

L: "That's me. That's me at the calm in the center of the storm. Let me help you. Please."

[she leans in close to Janice and whispers something to her that I can't hear (good god, I wish I had some of my drones to know what she said (honestly probably for the best to let them have that moment (but still...))). Janice nods and takes Lady L's hand. A portal opens, not to anywhere on earth, but to tentacle monster hell dimension. Sarah briefly looks back at me and smiles before the two of them step through]

[TRANSCRIBER'S NOTE: that was the last time I ever saw Lady Lacuna...

I'm just kidding, she comes back every couple weeks for groceries or lab supplies or just to hang out for a little bit. She never stays long though, it's always back to hell dimension. She still won't talk about what goes on over there but she seems happy.

I told this whole story to Emily and she seems just as baffled as me that Sarah and Janice maybe probably ended up together, but she also pointed out that they probably know each other better than most any two people thanks to whatever psychic link they have going on.

I guess I hope they're happy together, wherever they are.]

The boys would probably be a little scared the first time they talked about letting their girlfriends meet.

Hawk may seem like he doesn't give a fuck about a lot of stuff, but that had him nervous. He doesn't hang out wothhis twin a lot, they still run in different friend groups. But he still wanted bis girlfriend, Moon, to hopefully get along with Eli’s girlfriend Reader. Maybe it was a twin thing but they really needed their girlfriends to at least get along with each other. It would be a nightmare if they didn't.

Luckily they do get along!

The minute Moon meets Reader she is infatuated with the girl. When Hawk tried describing the girl Moon was under the impression she was shy. But after meeting her she finds out she's just quiet, she loves doing more extravorted things and going on adventures. She’s also just super nice which Moon loves. Whenever the boys can't go out with them they end up going out together to hang out. Moon loves to take her to the mall or just to go shopping. Sometimes they go to the park together or out to eat. They just love spending time with each other even if the boys aren't with them. They end up becoming besties very fast.

Which is how they ended up in Moon’s room one day kissing on her bed.

At first, Reader doesn't want to. The minute Moon slowly starts feeling her up she tries to back out. She loves Eli and she likes Hawk, she couldn't betray them like that. Not sitting there and making out with her boyfriend's twin brothers girlfriends. But then Moon says “Hawk knows I like you, like more then a normal friend. He won't be mad at me and I doubt Eli will have a problem with it. It's just a little kissing~” her words sink in. Reader gulps as Moon starts kissing up her exposed neckline. Maybe she was right, it was just some kissing right? Moon wasn't asking for to much. And it felt so good to have her best friend touching her all over with nice soft kisses.

So she gives in and let's Moon slowly kiss her on the lips.

It's soft with a touch of warmth too it which has her shivering. It's similer it the way Eli kisses her which is something she loves. Eli is so gentle just like Moon is being. She can't help but hang on to her as they slowly start to make out.

They don't hear the small creak of Moon’s door opening. The Twins watch in awe as their girlfriends kiss each other on the plush bed. Hawk is smirking while Eli just has a hand over his mouth while watching them. He covers the small squeak that leaves his mouth with his hands.

Reader’s eyes only flutter open a little while Moon licks at her bottom lip, but it's enough to catch a glimpse of the twin in the doorway. She gasps into the kiss and quickly pulls away from the other girl. Moon just cocks her head before looking back to see what Reader is staring at. She gives a small grin while looking at Hawk. Mischief playing in her eyes.

“Oh I'm sorry I should have invited you guys over before we started.” she says simply.

“Eli I didn'— I promise, I didn't mean to!”

“I-its okay Reader….I kinda like watching you kiss Moon. If you're enjoying it you can keep going, I don't mind watching you two kiss.” Eli says shyly, cheeks still warm and red from watching the two of them just moments ago

Hawk smirks and leads against the door “Feel free to keep going. I don't mind sharing my girlfriend with you at all. Twins shear all the time, and me and Eli are fine letting you to go at it any time you want. Well, more than likely we would like to be there though. It's only fair of course that we get to see our pretty girlfriends go at it.”

Reader feel hot as Moon turns to smirk at her. Slowly she starts to kiss along her jaw while the boys watch in the background.

This was definitely something new to put down in her brain somewhere.

fair warning for ii neg, especially on the latest episode.

prefacing this with saying: I LOVE INANIMATE INSANITY!!!!!! inanimate insanity is my favourite show in the world and every episode leaves me full of joy and excitement. i adore criticizing it not out of hatred but out of genuine love. i enjoy every single episode i watch.

however, i find that iii19 has been the worst episode so far. it has gotten me the least hyped out of any episode in the series, which is saying a lot because i bounce off the walls at every episode no matter how much i end up criticizing it later. there are. so many problems i have with it. im gonna try and organize them the best i can, though i'll probably(?) edit this post later to insert anything i missed or forgot to say.

starting off positively: oj!!!! personally i am so glad he didn't talk in this episode. i was terrified of the idea of him having a new va. the spin was adorable, i loved his signature thumbs ups, and every time i saw him i squealed with delight. him voting for balloon also made me really happy! despite the grudge he's had against him for so long, he still sticks with him on this part. even after laughing at his death the episode before that

in general all the seasonwunners voted for balloon!! which makes me happy!!! paintbrush, nickel, balloon, and oj have all been there for the very beginning of season 1, three of them being there for every season. i love the inherent connection the contestants from season 1 have with each other. they've been together since inanimate insanity began and they're there for the end of season 3 too. very sweet.

onto more negative stuff! I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE WHAT THEY DID WITH SILVER SPOON AND CANDLEEE they set up something crazy in the last episode and then did NOTHING with it!!! they had silver spoon beat candle unconscious the second she said something that wasn't coddling him like the manchild he is and she STILL voted for him. where even was she for half of the episode?? they just left her lifeless corpse on the ground in iii18 and then she eventually got up in this episode and just. went back to the competition??? dogshit writing

okay now i wanna talk about cabby. I Don't Like Cabby Anymore. so from the very beginning i have loved cabby. she was extremely similar to me in fact! i have really bad memory issues and i tend to keep files on people and on things that i might forget about, as well as just to organize my thoughts and ideas. i loved her confidence, obsession with knowledge, and analytical personality at the start. i was pretty upset when the characters (mostly test tube lmao) started relentlessly bullying her, and i HATE the whole thing in spring on the breakfast where they try to demonize her files. it was kind of annoying when they tried to remedy it really quickly after that because it was clearly because of the backlash, but i was glad they at least tried to fix it. however, over the course of the series, she just felt like she was... becoming sadder? pitiful, honestly? she went from an awesome smart character who loved taking notes on people's behaviour and using that information to get better at the game into some kind of Sad Little Bullied Victim. she doesn't even feel like a character anymore to me, just a mouthpiece for the creators to write dramatic "cathartic" speeches through to prove they're Definitely Not Ableist. also what was the deal with her parents lmao they never brought that up again

aaaand this episode was generally written really badly. super fucking corny for one. they literally had a little dance party at the end like people make jokes about for stereotypical Kids' Shows. but my issue is more with like... the weird super fast character development? and the way they wrapped everything up as quickly as possible? something that bothered me was the tonal whiplash between zuwie voicing springy super hysterically and dramatically and then springy being fully redeemed within like the next 5 minutes and dying for mephone. Why did they even die for mephone. like as a character why would he of all people die for mephone. thats so fucking stupid. the rest of the voice acting felt completely different from springy's as well so it just made the effect worse. everyone's lines were really corny and felt so manufactured, like they would pull characters to mephone's side (losing my mind over all the contestants rooting for mephone like cmon man that guy sucks i just know oj at least would want him dead) with a short Cathartic Speech and everything would be fixed and lovely and peachy keen. its just painful to watch. everything feels really weirdly disjointed and badly put together, the flow is awful, the "danger" doesn't feel like there's any suspense to it at all, and every character gets fully redeemed for no good reason. even walkie talkie chats casually with mephone at the end as if they're good friends after they were HYSTERICALLY INSISTING ON MURDERING HIM? AND MAKING HIM WATCH HIS OWN DEATH?? idk if this will get explained in s2 but we still don't know who walkie talkie is, what their motive is, WHY they got redeemed, etc. we know nothing about them. and even if it will be explained later, i think it's shitty writing that NOTHING was explained in this season.

- SO FUCKING GLAD THEY DIDN'T BRING HOTEL OJ INTO THIS I WOULD'VE CRIED IF THEY PUT SEASON 3 CHARACTERS INTO HOTEL OJ OR MADE IT ALL SLEEK AND S3 STYLE

it's the same response as always, donghyuck's eyebrows knit together and he pauses whatever he's doing for a moment, staring at y/n like he's a complete stranger that he's never met anymore. y/n has to admit, it really feels like his heart is being ripped out of his body every time he asks this question and he gets this response.

"your.." donghyuck pauses once again, his mind going blank. y/n knows this is the result of the accident, that his condition will probably get better with time, but does it remove the pain of him not knowing him? no. "y/n, my boyfriend, my partner".

y/n blinks, staring at the male right in front of him. he tries his best not to cry. he doesn't sound sure of himself, he sounds like he's trying to convince himself that that was the right answer. donghyuck continues staring, his eyes holding nothing, just emptiness that y/n can identify.

he clears his throat, shaking his head. it's too early in the morning to get emotional like this. "yeah that's.. right, sorry, i—"

"i hope i didn't say anything wrong" donghyuck says, biting his inner cheek. "your not upset, are you?" he asks, his voice lowering to an astonishing way honestly, it makes y/n want to cry even more.

"no no, you didn't i'm just.. i thought about something sad that's all" he doesn't look convinced, which y/n finds ironic considering his current condition.

"oh i'm sorry".

it's difficult, living with someone who once remembered every single little thing about you, now not even remembering your facial features, or your favorite color, or your hobbies, or what your coffee order is. y/n didn't expect for him to live when it came to the accident, it would've hurt having to go to a funeral for someone he loves so dearly; but it also hurts knowing that because of the trauma from accident, everything is just.. a blur now.

it hurts, having to clarify who he is every few minutes because he doesn't remember, and it hurts even more because it's like living with a blank piece of paper. yeah maybe he's psychically there in a sense, but he's just.. there, he doesn't remember anything much, and when he does talk first, which is unlikely, all he talks about is stuff that's barely important.

when y/n does bring up stuff they did in the past, or shows him the pictures they used to take on their polaroid cameras together, all donghyuck can do is just stare, because he so badly wants to remember it, he wants for his memory to desperately come back and for everything to go back to how it was before he decided to get into that car on that saturday morning.

but it just can't.

life just isn't fair, and no matter how much y/n tries to act like it'll all be okay, it won't. it won't ever be okay, he can try to ignore it, he can try to act like he's doing well, dealing with it well, but.. he isn't, everyone can see through his stupid facade.

"you look very pretty in these pictures" donghyuck randomly comments, looking through the polaroids spread around the table. pictures the two of them had taken together with.. his camera. he gives y/n a small smile, focusing back on the pictures.

"yeah, you took them" he replied simply, and donghyuck blinks, he doesn't remember that, of course he doesn't, y/n can envision the words that are about to leave his mouth.

"i don't—"

"remember.. i know" y/n cuts, donghyuck looks sad for a moment, casting his eyes away from his partner. "hey it's okay" he runs a hand up and down his back. "i'm not upset, it isn't your fault".

donghyuck blinks, he wonders what it'd be like if he just.. did remember, he'd save y/n so much pain and despair if he could just remember. does the universe hate him so much that he's causing pain to the one person who loves him the most? why can't he just remember everything? he wishes y/n could be happy, because even with the smiles he showcases to donghyuck, he's not really happy.

it bothers him, like an itch, but no matter how much he tries, his mind can't conjure up anything, whenever he thinks he's about to get it, it's like his mind resets, and every memory he's ever had has ceased to exist.

it keeps him up at night, and he doesn't even know why, because usually he just.. sleeps, he usually never tosses and turns, he usually never zones out staring at the ceiling, he usually sleeps just like that.

but he can't help but think he's at fault..

he can't control other people's actions, he can't, but it just makes him feel so disappointed knowing that the reason y/n doesn't have peace.

donghyuck rolls over, staring at y/n's sleeping face, he looks peaceful, and it makes a smile come to his face. his mind always goes a little hazy when he thinks of y/n, and he knows that it makes y/n's mood go down.

he doesn't know why, but he reaches over and lightly brushes y/n's hair out of his face. he blinks, just staring at him. he stays asleep, only lightly shifting. in his unconsciousnesses, he reaches over and grabs donghyuck's hand, holding it.

donghyuck is a little taken aback, he looks down, staring at the sight. y/n's hand is warm, it feels nice.

he lightly smiles again.

he doesn't really remember much, but y/n's still by his side.

for now, he'll just live in the moment.

I saw a green-haired kid fish you out, though, which I'm grateful for. I've only just recently arrived and I'm no good at remembering names, so I couldn't tell you who it was. I'm sorry.

I don't really know you all that well, but I think you should eat something. The other kids tell me to be careful with you, and I've seen you pat your body pretty often, so I'm worried you might have health issues.

Here, take this jelly. It's plain, so hopefully it won't bang up your innards or anything. Don't even worry about where I got it! Haha. Ha. It's super important to eat and gain at least a little more strength! Maybe it'll help you out in the future! you know, with the falling or fainting and drowning stuff... I wonder how you ended up there...

Hiii Para! Thanks for dropping this in my inbox, Kioku’s adorable face was the best thing to wake up to earlier today 🥺 To expand on Yael’s thoughts on Kioku a bit, I’ll establish some comparisons with his other fundamental relationships to give you a reference point:

He has the strongest feelings for @paradisedisconcert’s Can and @alien-til-i-stage’s Macbeth and Innamorati, Can being his purest relationship, Macbeth more muddled, and Inna just. Ridiculous. Who even knows

Add Kioku to this bunch of people he takes an especially strong interest in once she arrives, Kio being a person he looks up to and believes wholeheartedly in (due to misguided reasons, but there nonetheless).

He thinks of her as an Angel; Macbeth as Death; Can as Life; and Innamorati as personal Salvation. Kioku and Macbeth both represent “selfless” ideals: He adores Kioku because he believes she is here to save them from their eternal prison—not just to save him, but ALL of them. He truly believes she’s filled with all the good in the world and she can do no wrong in his eyes. His feelings about her are misguided but pure in nature. He also mixes up romantic and platonic feelings a lot, and she is the only one of these 4 he doesn’t feel confused about. I’ve mentioned that he’s subconsciously drawn to unhealthy relationships, Can being (for the most part anyway) an exception. Kioku is too good to have those kinds of feelings for, in Yael’s mind.

His perception of Kioku as an angel is different from his idea of Can as life or Inna as salvation. Can and Inna are what he perceives as his “selfish” ideals. Can isn’t holy or angelic in his eyes, but rather incredibly human; flawed and damaged, proof of their existence. Yael views his own existence, simply existing for himself, as selfish, and Can encourages living for himself. Inna is Yael’s personal salvation from his own mistake of playing a part in Macbeth’s death; Macbeth, who he believed was supposed to die and be free. He missed him so badly and questioned if it would be better for him to still be with him. He can’t change it, though, so he seeks absolution from the last piece of Macbeth there is.

Yael creates his own Saints in his head and Kioku is one of them. She represents a twisted sort of hope to him, and he wants to protect her and help her with whatever she needs to repay her for descending to Anakt Garden.
