Why Cobs isn’t Lying and the contestants are still real.

Seeing a lot of people saying that the ii contestants aren’t “real people”, and I really don’t think thats true. Cobs didn’t even say that! What he said was:

I think that, even thought they were generated by Mephone that they’re still real, sentient objects. They’ve clearly been shown that they have free will because they clearly have complex emotions— it’s like the whole point of the show!

And story-wise, making all of the main characters not real would be robbing them of their character development: it’d be like saying “oh actually forget being invested in these characters you’ve loved for years they actually aren’t reall!”.

Plus It’s already a precedent that sentient life can be made in this world. Think Bot, MePad and MePhone himself!

And I don’t think Cobs is just lying either, because then how are the contestants being deleted? How come he can bring them back to life? And why make up such a convoluted lie that you have to brainwash them to believe? And the plot twist would be kinda pointless if it was just taken back- what would be the point of that??

The simplest answer is usually right— I fear MePhone did accidentally create a bunch if Sentient OC’s. So, thanks for that MePhone ig…?

I will defend this design to the ends of the earth. Yes they’re hot, that’s merely a bonus.

1) that’s not a shirt that’s a fucking Galaxy under that suit. Mf has no body, just a vaguely body shaped void. Meaning floating head and hands that aren’t attached to anything. You take those clothes off and it’s the fucking void. They’re non binary AND sexless. Beyond any physical body, just shaped like it for fun.

2) the old bodies head dead in their hands and simultaneously birthing a foetus. That’s the circle of life, a rebirth, a metamorphosis. Chaos is above a god, they’re primordial. They don’t have a permanent appearance or identity. They’re ever changing. They look like this now, but if there were another game, they’d change again. They’re always changing, killing their old self and reshaping it. The wings have also moved and grown from the head to the back. Chaos expands indefinitely, bigger and unable to be contained in any way. They don’t even need wings, they can float. But they decided to have them anyway, just because. Because they can.

3) this is Ancient Greece. Suits don’t exist yet. Chaos took clothing from thousands of years in the future. They’re beyond time itself, they’re not effected by Chronos in any way. They’re in their own realm outside of time an space, they know things from the past, present and future.

4) the hair being the same colour as and long like many of their grandchildren, family resemblance there. Almost like they’re,,, missing them. Despite being this omnipresent being beyond human emotion, they still care in their own way. Copying them to feel some form of deeper connection.

5) the earth is an earring now. That’s how inconsequential it is to a being like chaos. It’s just there, an accessory, nothing special.

I could go on. Maybe I’m reading too deep into it but given the fact all the designs in the first and second games tend to have symbolism in them based on the myths the gods come from and what they represent, I don’t think I’m too insane for seeing symbolism here.

Okay, I've done the rambling and now it's time for the character designs!!

Well, for the three retrieval groups anyway. The other five missing characters & the phones are still yet to come. Got something special with them :))

Retrieval Group 1:

Soap, Marshmallow, Nickel, and Balloon!

It's probably obvious how I chose these characters by now, but it was elimination order.

For these designs I tried to have a balance of keeping them objects while also giving them more.. idk.. distinguishing features? I wanted to keep the backpack system but it felt weird ONLY giving them bags.

You'll see better with some of the other characters.

These guys have been here the longest! They were the first retrieval group that was sent out. They've mostly let go of a lot of their stuff from home at this point. Marshmallow used to have a scarf, Balloon had sleeves and shoes, Nickel had a bag and a different pair of shoes (which he lost. The ones he has now are Balloon's).

Soap is the only one that actually still has all of her stuff (but clearly she isn't really taking the best care of herself).

Marshmallow woke up a LONG time before the rest of them, and wandered off on her own. It took about a week but Balloon eventually ran into her and brought her back. All the scars she has are from the time she spent away from the group. She doesn't like to talk about them.

Nickel's already gotten into a couple fights with some spiders. That's how he lost his original pair of shoes and gained the scars on his face.

Soap could not stop freaking out for a long time after they woke up. She did NOT like being that small, she did NOT like being that close to the dirt constantly, and she did NOT like the fact that the only method she had of cleaning herself and other things was the grainy puddle water. This is genuinely her worst nightmare come true and she's only just recently been able to fully participate in missions and hunts. She got into a really bad fight with a ladybug at one point, which caused some pretty significant bruising (+ the soap spilling).

Balloon's probably been the most careful so far. He kinda has to be though, since one rogue bite from a bug and he's just. gone. But he's also trying his best to take charge and keep the group together, since he's the only one who really can. he is REALLY bad at getting people to listen to him though. Especially Nickel, since they don't really have that great of a history even in this.

But anyway, here are the first four students to go missing! Not all that important for a good chunk of the story, but become more relevant later.

And remember how I said the fates of certain characters depend on how they're doing in the show? Yeah. Keep that in mind :)
