In honor of Aromantic Visibility Day (June 5), here's an incomplete list of things that just made a lot more sense after realizing I was aromantic:

Pretending to have crushes as a kid (because I was supposed to have one??)

Hating talking about celebrities (especially as a kid) because the topic of crushes always came up and I a) didn't have one, and b) didn't understand how others did

Which brings me to the next point - I don't think I have ever had a "real proper crush", as in in the way most people mean when they talk about a crush

Mistaking friendship for romantic attraction? (I had a "crush" on a kid in preschool because he gave me a hug every time I went home)

My family/friends thinking I have a crush/am romantically interested in people I'm just friends with - and me not understanding why

Trying to date but constantly feeling like I'm acting - saying the things I feel like I'm supposed to rather than actually feeling them

The absolute cluster fuck of a "summer fling" I had when I was 14-15 - like I definitely liked the guy and felt a connection but it also definitely wasn't what everybody expected me to feel (and it wasn't romantic)

Accidentally burping the guy in the face because the whole situation was making me so nervous and it felt like a kiss should happened and I wasn't ready for that? didn't even really want that??

Well, obviously I'm bi/pan/similar identity, I feel the same way about people of all genders (plot twist! that feeling isn't romantic attraction)

Becoming an adult and still waiting for me to start actually caring about being in a relationship or getting a proper romantic crush (I've stopped waiting - I don't think it'll happen lol)

Wanting to get married (aka have a wedding) but not actually be married (one of the realization that made me go "wait am I on the aromantic spectrum too?" actually)

Being kind of interested in the idea of having a relationship or partner but not that kind of relationship/partner or in that way

Talking with my sister about her boyfriend/fiancé and being like "I don't really understand it but I'm happy your happy"

Not fully understanding romantic attraction or the need for romance

Liking romance movies/books but also really liking the ones without it

Not really understanding the appeal of reader-insert fics where you're romantically involved with the character

The painful awkwardness of your dad joking about setting you up with a friend's son your age - and you just sitting there thinking "god please can we change the subject because that will never happen and I do not want to have that conversation with you right now or possibly ever..." (technically this happened after I realized I was aro but whatever)

Vibing a little too much with the aromantic label (aka yeah I think I'm aromantic)

I have made. Another comic. I took a very, very long time, as usual lmao. I originally got inspired to make this after watching through Arcane cuz. Nicely done media makes me want to make things and all that. And, at that time, I'd sent Narinder out on a mission trip in my new save and he came home full of existential dread (I have terrible luck with Narinder on missions therefore so does QPR AU Lambert I guess lol), and it had occurred to me that that would make an interesting premise for a comic maybe?? Turns out it did.

I think I'm happy with this?? The perfectionist in me is not, and to be honest I think I could've drawn a lot of things better and also I think this would read better if it felt a little slower... but also it's 13 pages long so I can't fault myself all that much. I do wish I had spent more time on some of these interactions, particularly between Lambert and the Goat and also between Narinder and his siblings, I have a lot of thoughts about the Bishops post their joining the cult but I haven't had a ton of time to really like... flesh out those ideas as much as I would like to. Maybe someday?? Idk.

Semi-related, while this comic gave me a lot of thoughts about the Bishops it also gave me a lot of thoughts about like, the exact like, I guess boundaries and terms of Narinder and Lambert's QPR, and also about what exactly happened to Narinder while he was out, and he's not lying a lot did happen but that's a little too long to just throw in the description here so maybe future me will describe it somewhere or something. This comic also got me thinking about Webber a fair bit, and once day I will expand upon those thoughts but not today, I have outside activities today lol

Anyways. This comic, like all my art, is not perfect, but it was fun to make and I spent too long on it for nobody to see it, so... enjoy!!

In short- the bugs of Hallownest did not take it well. Lots of screaming about "The end of the world" and "past sins coming back to haunt them". Elderbug almost had his second heart attack and basically every bug, other than the Pale King children and Quirrel, hid for several hours. (Zote likes to claim he was the first to make contact)

As for why Dewi's Dad is in Dirtmouth? Well, he wasn't very happy when his 11 year old son told him about going into a 'mysterious cave' to see his bug friends. Adult supervision and all that.

#Elderbug: “Guess I'll die”#Dewi is a lot less intimidating than his Dad. (Despite both looking like eldrich horrors to bugs) He's very gentle with his movements #Compared to his dad who has no idea how to handle bugs at all and is frankly terrified that they are crawling all over him #But man. Dewi idolizes his Dad so hard #The Old Stag is here and Also almost had a heart attack. But he likes Dewi and was curious enough to meet his Dad. <3 why not at this point #Hollow is not wanting to explain their first meeting with Dewi to his Dad.
