“Oh no!” you whisper. Wade dispatches the last guy who’s running for him with a well-aimed bullet before coming to gather you in his arms.

“Baby, hey, it’s okay!” he says quickly when it’s obvious that you’re about to cry. You look up at him with glistening eyes.

“But Wade, I look so ugly,” you manage, “I thought… if you saw… you might not want to…”

both of them fear love for different reasons. fatin thinks she's incapable of it and even if she was, all it brings is pain and heartbreak and she's had enough of that. besides, she doesn't have the time for anything like that: not romantic love nor platonic. familial love for fatin is... well... complicated...

leah on the other hand is familiar with the sting an intense, burning love leaves behind. she's suddenly left alone and has to deal with the consequences on her own. despite everything, all she wants is that toxic love back. to her, it's the only thing that can cure the emptiness she feels.

even on the island all she can think about is jeff. she gets into a literal fight with fatin over him (and fatin's "laziness" and lack of cooperation, but anyways).

then shit gets real. specifically, fatin goes missing. (cue the beginning of a beautiful, complex, sometimes toxic relationship).

only after Leah's confronted with the thought that holy shit someone could die - Fatin could die, does she finally burn his fuck ass book and metaphorically let him go (for now, anyways).

things are good for a bit, then they're bad. the ups and downs of the island. sometimes they get along, like when they think they're going to get rescued. other times they still have trouble getting along and that's okay too; they're learning and they're there for each other and that's all that matters.

well, they're there for each other until they're not. leah's mental health goes into a decline as season 2 begins. fatin tries to hold it together for the both of them, but she can't help but (homoerotically) argue with leah (for the second time) to defend her grieving friend.

eventually they make up because of course they do. afterall, fatin "was starting to like her" and knew that she could never really stop caring about leah.

in fact, the opposite starts happening. she cares about leah so much that she begins to look for the truth for leah. she devotes herself to the very thing that nearly drove leah insane. because she believes leah, for real this time.

and it's good but it's makes her feel so guilty because holy shit leah was right and fatin let her believe that she was insane. she unknowingly helped in gaslighting leah, but she can't give up now. she has to prove that leah was right; it's the only thing that can make up for it.

so, fatin attempts to pick up what leah left behind. fatin, who less than two months ago was unwillingly to help in building a simple shelter, puts in so much of her time and energy in figuring out the truth for leah. she'll let herself go insane the way leah did, do all the ethically questionable things, as long as leah doesn't have to do it anymore.

ultimately, i love leatin because it's a story of these two complex teenagers who heal and break together. neither of them are fond of the idea of love when they meet, especially not with each other but together, they form a unique bond. their love doesn't fix each other but instead, they do things out of love for one another that helps them both.

they relearn how to love together. it's not perfect, but it works for them.

drew the ow strike team as paladins of voltron, because i am normal about them :]

(2 other versions and a fucking essay below the cut!)

ok so im gonna give my reasoning for each of them

Reinhardt - the easierst to pick, the Yellow Lion is the most tank-like (besides the Black Lion, but thats cuz Black is the head + torso), also i think the legs of voltron are supposed to be the "pillars" that allow the team to work well, without them the whole thing crumbles (literally). from what i recall from the actual show, the Yellow Paladin is protective and loyal. Rein was the easiest to match up tbh (plus even the color fits lol)

Torbjörn - not my favourite choice, but tbh i dont think any other lion fits him? besides maybe Yellow, but Rein was too perfect so i couldnt give Torb that one. anyway, the Green Lion is the left hand. i consider the legs to be the "pillars" holding up the team, whereas the arms are the actual damage-dealers/the ones that act on what the leader commands. and as Torb is a dps, that fits just fine. hes not quite a leader, so being the left hand instead of the right is good. plus the Green Lion is inquisitive and curious, and since Torb is a genius, that fits just fine too. i thought he would look weird with green, since i associate him with red-orange-yellow the most, but he looks kinda nice

Ana - i was originally gonna make her blue from the get-go, but i thought it'd be silly to make the remaining three switch lions a bunch, so i can get an excuse to draw Gabe and Jack in multiple suits lmao. but Ana starts out as red, the right hand of Voltron, described as the most temperamental and aggressive. it requires a paladin that can keep up with it and works on instinct most of the time. i feel like Ana would have to BECOME the motherly figure for her team, instead of being one from the start. with that i think she would have been a more "lone wolf" type at first, only later on becoming more mindful of her teammates and how much they need her, which would lead to her becoming the paladin of the Blue Lion - a pillar that keeps the team going along with Rein, a vital part, but no longer in a leadership position. i've seen the Blue Lion described as a "free spirit" too, which i think is also perfect for her :3

Jack - for him i had three options, all of which fit him well: blue, red and black. and instead of picking one, i decided he was going to have three different lions :))) for shits and giggles. so he starts out as blue, a free spirit, very versitile (from what i gathered, the Blue Lion doesn't have a specific "thing" it specilizes in, but instead does a little bit of everything, kinda like Jack). i imagine Jack was the middle-man, an integral part of team-building. he would have been the one to push everyone to work together and follow Gabe's lead, but he was content being on the sidelines most of the time. eventually he takes up more responsibility, sees that he's vital for the team and that he can do more working side by side with Gabe, and so he becomes the paladin of the Red Lion, Gabe's right hand man. then he of course slowly grows to be the actual leader, as Gabe's approach changes and he slowly abandons his original role, passing the command over to Jack. and so Jack's last lion is the Black Lion. also i feel like all three lions fit Jack's color scheme pretty well, so that's another win for me hah

Gabe - since he was the original Strike Commander, i thought it only natural that he would be the first to pilot the Black Lion. the pilot needs to be decisive, stay cool in the face of danger and be someone whose men will follow him into battle with no hesitation - all traits that i see Gabriel would have had to have during the first Omnic Crisis. like i mentioned before, Jack eventually becomes his second in command, and then slowly their roles start to shift. Gabe is no longer content in making decisions for the whole team, he probably also becomes more violent and reckless, relying on Jack to keep him in check. he loses his connection with the Black Lion and becomes the paladin of the Red Lion, Jack's right hand man. the traits of Red fit him well too - aggressive, relies on instinct, temperamental, plus i imagine Gabe is the type to want to get things done as quickly as possible, no matter the risk, to save more people faster. plus, again, the colors match up yaaaay!

Twilight set up to make dinner, as he had a hundred nights before for the group, with about twenty minutes of that being debating what to make with Wild, which one of them was going to be in charge tonight, and then getting the ingredients out of Wild’s slate before he settled to clean up and start. It was his favourite chore, if he was honest; he loved cooking when Wild let him, and after how long they’d been together Wild often was content to help rather than lead. He got distracted a lot, and liked the chance to get up and wander, and after one too many “What if” ideas, the others preferred it, too.

It was around when Wild wandered off to see what Hyrule and Wind were doing that Twilight saw Warriors crack his neck at the far side of the fire and stand up. He turned and started walking away himself and Twilight froze.

Had he ever seen Warriors leave the fire when he was cooking? He didn’t think so. His mouth twitched. “Leaving already?” he joked. “I’m gonna miss the company.”

Warriors startled, then turned and laughed. “What, you liked me just hanging around staring at you?”

“I don’t care,” Twilight admitted. “Although in Ordon I’m used to the company. I've just gotten so used to you watching the whole time it’s strange to see you go.”

To his surprise, the other man walked around the fire and touched his shoulder. “I think if you haven’t poisoned me after four months, you’re not going to. I don’t think Wild would either, at least on purpose, but...”

Twilight automatically responded to the second with, “He’s only done that once,” before the first part finished processing. “You thought I might poison you?!”

The hand almost left his shoulder, then squeezed it before its owner dropped to sit beside him. Twilight turned to stare, but Warriors couldn’t quite meet his eyes or answer him. Twilight stared at his hands again and tried to think back – he knew at some point in the first two weeks they’d been together, Time had talked to Warriors although not what about. That was when he’d started watching him cook.

Had he ever eaten with them before that? Twilight didn’t think so. When Wild cooked, Warriors usually asked him for something to make himself and...

“Something happened during the war?” Twilight guessed, when Warriors hadn’t spoken.

“Very early in the war,” he agreed. He looked around the nearly-empty fire, but most of the others were napping, training, or getting up to something else. “Impa had taken me on as her protege and – literally within two weeks of losing the castle, I fell.... very ill. I almost died; if we hadn’t been staying with the Sheikah, I likely would have. And within days of pulling out of danger, I was sick again before they could find out who was doing it.”

Twilight swore and narrowly missed cutting his finger as he cut up the onions in front of him. He shook himself and sighed. “Shit. That fucking....” He couldn’t think of a strong enough word.

Warriors snorted quietly. “I’d be sick after eating anything after that, for another two weeks until Impa figured out a strategy to make me not... Not panic at the thought. Cooking for the village children meant a lot to him; he was always careful about that, because making one of them sick was his worst nightmare. But it didn’t feel the same as the importance of realizing Warriors trusted him in the face of something that’d almost killed him before too.

“Thank you,” Twilight said. He swallowed until his eyes didn’t burn. “For trusting me. Is there anything else...?”

Warriors snorted, hard. “Just warn me if Wild tries to talk you into anything weird if I walk away. Alright?”

Twilight turned and caught his eyes before he nodded, not letting the lightness in his voice belie the fear he could see there. “I promise. No surprises here.”

“Great. I’m gonna go find the river and bath, then.” Warriors stretched his jaw and stood, squeezing Twilight’s shoulder as he walked away, his light tone at odds with the tension in his back.

White Hank:

- Honestly when she first saw you and your style, she was immediately interested in it. The only colours she’s seen are different shades of black, white and red. Then all of a sudden a grunt version of a highlighter just appears.

- When first meeting you Jebus was a little caught off guard when he saw your style. All of a sudden he saw all this colour on a single grunt. He wasn’t sure what to say about it but he wasn’t going to judge you for it so he kept silent about it, asking some questions here and there but overall minded his business about it. If you were happy with it then he doesn’t have any reason to tell you otherwise.

- Just like White Hank and carrying on from the previous sentence he’s going to ask some questions about it. It may not look like he’s interested in it but he’s surprisingly taking in a lot of notes about it. Keeping in mind about your style.

- Again just like White Hank if anyone dares speak ill of your choice of clothing especially when he is around, he won’t be so kind letting them be let go in one piece. Do they seriously think it’s best to disrespect someone he’s friends with? They must be stupid if they think it is

- I have a feeling he wouldn’t really be interested in things like playing with your hair unlike White Hank, one because he doesn’t want to mess it up and two he isn’t interested in those kind of things but to make up for it he does compliment you about it and your style just so it doesn’t look like he’s not interested in it.

- If he’s feeling nice enough maybe he might get you a few things that may go along to your style but that’s pretty much it. He’s not too fond of the style on himself but he does like it on you. A more simple question this time: What is the favourite & least favourite activities for the Afton Family & The Kids to do? Everybody has that one thing they love or hate doing after all, so I can't help but be curious what headcannons you have in mind for all of them.

We're starting off with Old Man Willy (before killing children lmao) his favorite thing to do is brainstorm and think. Yes, really. He likes planning things out or creating concepts for animatronics and their mechanisms (Ex., The funtimes, yikes!) He enjoys the creative thinking process of things. (I think they mean he also liked drawing, I guess?

His least favorite activity is making robots. Sure he took a robotics class and literally creates robots but he only did it because it was a career path that would keep him financially stable. He hates having to do hard work and is always finding the easiest way to have things done. Which explains a lot about his actions from making the Springlock suits so shitty, killing children instead of adults and all that stuff. He also hates going outside and doing normal things like...idk going to the pool?? Or shopping or something like that. He thinks it's really annoying to have to see people he doesn't care about. He hates socializing and prefers watching.

Moving onto Clara, her favorite activity is as one would expect, dancing. She was a very passionate soul when it came to her hobbies, so much so that she still practiced her ballet moves in the house when it was just her or one of the kids. She also likes reading, she became really interested in literature growing up and she occasionally still reads to relieve her stress. She also sews and knits from time to time because her mom had taught her when she was younger and she actually really liked it. And she LIVES for social events, she really likes talking to anyone who isn't William or doesn't disrespect her. (She's probably the one who would encourage normal family activities like going to the beach or something, of course it usually led to fights :( )

For least favorite, she hates cooking and cleaning and doing housework, her family had taught her that it was the only thing she should be good for besides having kids. And now she does do all that so that's lame. So I guess she just doesn't like being a housewife which is understable I get you girl

For Mike (when he was a teen), he liked ditching class and pulling pranks and being an overall troublemaker. He got a ton of enjoyment from doing so, he also liked hanging out with friends (and he's lucky he even got any considering most of his family is friendless lmao) he liked doing typical teen in the 80s stuff. And he also liked watching TV and reading comics, which inspired him to get into drawing (so many artists in the Afton family!) But he doesn't like letting people know he draws just to keep it low key yk? He just liked not having to deal with his family so he's one Afton you would expect to see outside a lot. As for when he gets older, he still likes watching TV and drawing, but now one of his favorite activities is taking his dad down! (How's that going for him...)

For least favorite, he hated doing homework and shit, so he'd get some of his friends to do it for him (or on desperate occasions ask his mom or dad for help, William would usually scold him for being dumb and wouldn't help him but Clara always did her best to assist) he also hated spending time with his siblings, sure he could deal with Liz but she is still a little...weird. And don't even get him started on that crybaby! He also hated doing anything with his dad, they didn't have any 'father-son' bonding time in general. And once he gets scooped he also started to hate going outside and talking to people because you know, he's a rotting corpse! Of course people will freak out and try to pull a "Kill The Beast" moment on him, so he'd have to resort to disguises and stuff.

For Liz, she loves tea parties, likes planning them and attending them! She usually won't do them at her own house (mostly because William refuses to have anyone over at his place that isn't his family or the Emilys) so she does them at school or at Charlie's place. She also likes playing with dolls and role-playing with them like a few girls tend to enjoy, but that of course doesn't stop her from liking other activities like catching bugs (and killing them, Charlie always tells her that the point is to catch and release them) or making a big mess like most kids do.

For least favorite activities, she doesn't really like drawing or writing because she thinks it's difficult and annoying. She doesn't like talking to other people her age, so she doesn't actually have other friends besides than Charlie (I mean not to say that she got bullied or anything like people didn't mind her but Charlie is her only friend in her mind) She doesn't like spending time with her mom, she only likes hanging out with her Dad or Mike or sometimes Evan (I mean before the birthday party thing) and she hates being alone. (Hmm...)

And last and least according to his siblings and everyone else in his life, Evan! I said before in a previous headcanon post about him that he likes collecting (or should I say hoarding) family things! Mostly things that would get thrown away or sold like old toys or jewelry or other stuff like that. So sometimes you'll find old baby things or old clothes hidden somewhere in his room! It reminds him of when he was peacefully oblivious to everything. He also really enjoys playing with toys, a little more than most kids his age should (to be fair he's been isolated for ages) and he does not discriminate, he also liked tea parties and role-playing with his toys and dolls too! He liked fixing broken toys too since he learned some sewing skills from his mom (not like she taught him but he'd watch how she'd do it and learned it himself) and he learned how to repair some of Liz's old broken down dolls himself! (Does sneaking into his siblings room even count as an activity, because he does it often and he really enjoys it lmao) He also liked watching cartoons and reading comics and books like other kids bc yk, he was still a child! And he loved hanging out with his bestest friend, Fredbear! (and his dad too I guess)

He doesn't like talking to people either (these Aftons and their anti-social behavior bruh) it's not like he doesn't want to start making friends, but he's very hesitant to socialize with anyone he doesn't know because of his bullying days at school and at home, and also cause William keeps filling his head with ideas that no one can understand them and that they're always gonna be outcasted so to him it's kind of like "what's the point??" So he's kinda forced to like being alone. He doesn't really like going outside, he doesn't like spending time with Mike, I mean he always scares and pranks him anyway so what's there to even like? He doesn't even relate to him in any way since Evan does actually like learning and isn't a jerk lmao 💀

Has the latest episode of Helluva Boss left you a little conflicted about Loona? Well, you’re not the only one.

There’s no doubt that this episode has had some of the best Loona scenes in the show. From her backstory of why Blitzo adopted her, to that goddamn scene with Octavia.

It's no wonder my supply of tissue paper has suddenly depleted.

But while there are plenty of sweet and touching moments involving our favourite hellhound, it’s also been overshadowed by some scenes that are a little more… bitter-tasting.

I mean, when you see Loona talk to Octavia about how she should learn to understand your father despite his flaws and then in the following scene get physical with Blitzo (twice) after he finds her, it would certainly leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. 

And don’t even get me started on what happened at the beginning.

You know, the part that tried to brutally maim Blitzo just because he wanted to talk to her about her work behaviour and spent more time complimenting her throwing skills than giving actual criticism.

Also, body-shaming Moxxie.

That's just not cool.

All of these scenes certainly make a tough pill to swallow for even the most dedicated Loona fan. But despite everything, I'm still gonna swallow said pill anyway, and I'll explain why (because, funnily enough, this isn't the first time I've written a post like this).

First of all, just look at where she was raised.

This isn’t an orphanage. It’s a goddamned prison (literally, because, you know, it's in hell). And it should come as no surprise that a place like this would be a hotbed of neglect and abuse, things that are not conducive to healthy emotional development.

So it should also come as no surprise that a person who was raised in an environment where care and affection are hunted to extinction would have difficulties processing care and affection as well as expressing it. So the fact that she can feel love and affection despite all the trauma she went through is nothing short of miraculous.

(Y'all remember this scene? Still a favourite)

And believe me, there are plenty of moments that show Loona does care for Blitzo, even if she doesn’t show it as much as she should. But I said earlier. There’s a lot more that’s holding her feelings back besides teenage angst.

But the real reason I’m still standing by Loona despite her problematic relationship with Blitzo is not just because of what caused the problems but that she is more than capable of resolving them.

Look at what happened with the relationship between Stolas and Blitzo.

Anyone paying attention to Helluva Boss knows that Blitzo’s relationship with Stolas is ANYTHING but perfect, as there has been plenty of questionable behaviour and unreciprocated love. Just look at the shit that went down in the finale of season 1.

Take a look at where we are now, and you'll see just how far these two have come.

Of course, their relationship still could use improvement, but rest assured, it is improving. And if the relationship between Blitzo and Stolas can improve, why can’t the relationship between Blitzo and Loona?

This is certainly not going to be the last appearance of Loona, nor will it be the only time that the show focuses on their relationship, which can only mean that there's gonna be plenty of opportunities for things to get better.

I know Loona (and Blitzo as he’s not quite a perfect father) still have a lot to get through. But they can get through. They are getting through. And they will get through.

Because as I said in a rant not unlike this one: sometimes when a character’s progress takes a step back it’s because it’s about to take a bounding leap.

So don’t judge a book by its cover...

...and don’t judge a character before their arc is finished.

Side of him he doesn't like to show?- Literally all the dodgy stuff he does. While he knows that a threatening reputation is useful, he just doesn't really like it. There are some cases, obviously with people that have/are likely to try to pull shit with him, where he's more than happy to be seen as a threat. Takes a bit of sadistic joy in it even. But, especially with his friends, he doesn't really want to be seen as serious, violent and threatening. Plus he thinks it's fun to threaten people then have them search him up to try and dig up dirt, only to find he keeps posting memes. He is/can easily be a threat and he knows it, he just doesn't like other people knowing it or taking him too seriously/not trusting him because of it

Thoughts on science and art?- He sees both as important. Science important for factual knowledge and progression towards understanding of the world around us, art for understanding internal processes and the ability to connect/communicate/co-operate with others

What will always lure him into danger?- Chances are he's aware of the danger, so it's whether or not he sees it as worth it. Loved ones? Yes absolutely, he literally jumps at, has a lovely conversation with and a coffee with said danger most of the time. Him running into danger for the chance of getting something he wants out of it? Wouldn't really happen. He'd just find 20 alternative methods, he could get what he wants anytime, why endanger himself for it. Has he done so in the past? 😶 Yes of course

A random fact- Actually has a good relationship with their family and stays in contact with them, visiting regularly

Random angst headcanon- They've gotten to the point where they just emotionally shut down if anything really bad happens. They've faced a lot of bad things and just usually just try to avoid the whole thing. As much as they try to talk things out, like they've suggested and advised Darian to do, it usually doesn't work well (both in the past and in their own current friend group). Darian and Mark know this, and try to either get them as far away from shit as possible, or make sure they constantly check in

What happens when they have a crush?- Yes, pretty noticeable. If they like someone, they want the person to know. Why not, if you're seeking a relationship, make it clear. They'd probably be just very themself- very bright and enthusiastic. Would definitely try to impress the person. Like with their radical dirtbiking skills B)

Mark

What do people assume about him, are they right?- I'd say the assumption about him is that he's just Darian's work partner, helps when asked to, doesn't really do anything besides that. But nope, he does play quite a few crucial roles, to the point that he was a higher up himself way before Darian. But that assumption about him is exactly what both Mark and Darian are aiming for

Soft headcanon- Talks about the machines he makes as if they're conscious brings. He's not mental I promise it's just that he takes a lot of pride in what he creates

Does he act differently around different people?- Sort of? In his career he's just serious, wants to get things done without making things complicated with social stuff. When he does have to be social, if its with people he needs to be on the good side of, he'll be smiley, making polite sarcastic jokes. To people he doesn't particularly need to please, he's fine with being his generally serious self along with making jokes and comments. It's slightly different between Alir and Darian. He doesn't really make comments/jests at Alir, that's just not what their friendship is. But with Darian? This man can and will meet Darian's sarcastic humour, meet his jokes with comments and jests of his own. He's comfortable with not being completely serious around him (unless the situation calls for it), while knowing that he and Darian both deeply care for each other. His family, though? He's just plain serious with them- short responses, blunt and to the point, would never try to make jokes with them

Adrian

Is he a planner?- When he needs to be. If there's a mission that has to go a specific way (he's working directly under Handler at this point so lets face it, everything has to be perfect) then he'll plan stuff out. It's more of a loose plan, in comparison to Darian's whole "I MUST MAKE 70 PLANS AND THEN 300 BACK UP PLANS". Just as long as he knows what he's doing and what the alternatives are, he's fine. He absolutely will just abandon all plans if he thinks it's necessary

Self destructive tendencies?- Ohohoho buddy. This man is purely self destructive tendencies. After losing the second of the two people that have actually been decent to you, the person you saw as your chance at some kind of normal life, in exactly the same way as the first time mind you? Yeah, not doing too good. Darian was willing to put his life on the line because he knew his death date so knew that he'd probably be fine, he easily endangers himself for the people around him. Adrian has basically nobody, the closest thing being Mark who he's only recently met, no guarantee of when he'll die, he just expects he's going to die as part of his job some day and doesn't care. Puts his life on the line just because he can. He'll do it over the smallest things, usually to prove a point, look threatening, or because of pride. In the non canon rp when he was daring Fable to shoot him, he was moreso shocked at his own reaction of avoiding the bullet. He basically just starts chatting up random people in timelines just to drop them soon after. Aftereffects of mixing grief with the sudden knowledge of the multiverse and that everything is meaningless 😔. He has a few others which I won't go into detail with because frankly I don't want to. He's just very self destructive, self loathing but at the same time is being given zero time to recover and is being encouraged towards a mini god complex while being prepared as an intercosmic sacrifice, while trying to get as much useful (blackmail) material about Commission and Handler as he can. So yeah, not a good time

Particular quote/lyric I associate with him- I honestly don't associate songs with him. There's obvious ones like Girl Anachronism by Dresden Dolls (Amanda Palmer yikes 😬), Noel's Lament from that roller coaster musical (💀 ik but it makes sense), because I associate them with his lack of self preservation and just lack of care. Inspiration behind her- I haven't even watched Steven Universe, but Blue Diamond. Celeste is a creator being, to completely oppose Hyra, aka L'appel Du Vide. (Hyra hasn't really been mentioned in canon because Darian would never willingly talk about her. All you need to know is if Adrian is the lamb being led to slaughter, Hyra is the slaughterhouse. She's also the being that AvExp!Darian is basically an avatar for)

But back on track, Celeste is a creator. Creating realities, saving them. The whole lightning theme is a haha funny on my part because it's just "spark of creativity!". But yeah, Blue Diamond inspired, creativity, energy transferrals in the form of sparks

What does she want to be remembered as?- I don't really think Celeste cares how she's remembered. She's kind, yes, but you also have to remember what she is. She doesn't care about how she's known or if she's known at all. Fame isn't her thing

Thanks for the ask!

It’s an interesting one, because these things are so subjective, so what irks me as a reader is totally random and won’t irk the next person.

As a fanfic writer, I write completely self-indulgently, and I’m very aware of the fact that my characterization, writing style or fave tropes don’t appeal to all, either. That’s the beauty of fanfic, it’s a glimpse into a plethora of different people’s experiences, interests, style and kinks, so there’s something for everyone. Very cool.

As for your question, what I’d like to do is tell you about my favorite tropes and dynamics in evak fics.

First off is slow burn/pining. I watched Isak’s season in real time back in 2016, and waiting for the next clip to drop/for Even to show his intentions, was the sweetest hell. I think in both reading and writing, that’s, at least to some extent, the feeling I’m always trying to recreate: that longing, the will they won’t they? (But c’mon, it’s Evak so of course they will 😏) Top tier fic material for me.

Next is banter and friends-to-lovers. These two are closely related in my opinion, since, to me, besides the insane, magnetic attraction between them, there was always a genuine simpatico and friendship there. omg okay. so like. my whole thing is that i really really hope that it was a simulation that they werent just ai or that this was all real like i really desperately want to believe that when shuichi maki and himiko got out they woke up and found out they were just. in a simulation. and they merge the two realities they were living into one and we get everyone like. Together. and theyre ALLOWED to be happy although traumatised. and this goes for all the games like i dont want to believe that the canon that is presented is meant to be taken super literally. v3 makes me want to believe that they were ALL simulations it was all just for tv and why would they kill actual kids for tv and not have real ass people be like "thats so fucked up Why Are You Doing This" because thats the one part of it all that my suspension of disbelief will not allow me to go and that seems like something everyone else can agree on. theres no way parents would just let their kids go on a show where they could get MURDERED BRUTALLY. and then have that death TELEVISED. and thats like my main one and its really a popular fandom one but i just. I need this. To feel okay

other headcanons...my favourite one is that when shuichi is deep in thought, he makes a concentrated face and puts his fist under his chin. i love having kokichi and kaito be brothers. i like thinking theyre found family and that sure they hated each other for a while but they found comfort in each other and that should continue on in every universe. they should be allowed to be brothers. i also like to think that shuichi and kokichi are two people that just completely run on no sleep like so often that its worrying. this is consistent no matter what reality they are living in. kaito has a hero complex and i think that one is just canon but i havent engaged in the material recently enough to say...i have only been referring back to my notes on characterisation from the last time i did a character analysis...i should really fix that i need a refresher i cannot just Live Like This who am i if i dont have a proper handle on who these fucking people are

i have thoughts on sakura. she doesnt have that gravelly voice that they give her in the game she like fully has a deep voice but its still feminine and gorgeous and sure it has some growl but it just feels like. they tried to make her sound like a Man. you know? and im not a big fan idk thats just my thoughts on that. chihiro is a girl in stem and she was actually trans and thats my headcanon that i think was controversial like 3 years ago. it might still be controversial idk idc

i know this is not something you asked about but i keep thinking about it because of kokichi and kaito but its just. aughghguthhghj;orwisjkh NO ONE UNDERSTANDS HOW TORTURED I AM ABOUT THEM so much of that fucking game is dramatic foils SO MUCH and always ALWAYS people love the dramatic foils BECAUSE OF COURSE THEY DO like OF COURSE people would love oumota now im not particularly a fan of shipping them but idc if other people do but for my purposes im talking about them as like found family as like brothers because thats how I see them just . i keep thinking about the die young animatic even though that is BLATANT shipping it just reminds me how bad it hurts kokichi hated the killing game as much as everyone else (besides tsumugi of course) and no one believed it and kaito had to work with him in his final moments and kokichi was under so much stress and was panicking so bad over everything because who could just be COMPLETELY TOTALLY NORMAL about DYING that he just let it slip that yeah he HATED this shit he wants to END this his plan the whole time was to END THIS and the only person he trusted was shuichi and he was going to die and he was so young and he had to die either way he had to die and kaito had to help him die and im sure kaito never saw himself in that position he never thought he would be the one killing but he WAS because he HAD TO because he HAD TO SAVE MAKI he HAD TO KEEP HIS FRIEND SAFE but kokichi was also sort of in a way his friend that night and kaito was the only friend kokichi had that night and even after all of this people STILL were like outside of it looking in like I will never know Kokichi. AND ISN'T THAT JUST TRAGIC? no one even fucking knew him because he couldn't be honest out of pure fear and terror and a need to protect himself and that was ALL he was thinking about was am i safe and am i by doing this attempting to stop the killing game. he always knew it was going to go that way. and that is so tragic. and kaito had to be the one to carry it out and it didnt even fucking work it didnt even end the killing game. but at least kaito went to space. at least kaito went to space, somehow. and monokuma didnt even get to kill him. i just wonder if kaito in some way did find a way to like kokichi. i wonder if knowing that kokichi was always and forever hating the killing game no matter what he said gave him comfort and helped him forgive him. surely they had time to have a moment like. i dont know if i can forgive you but i would like to try. surely. i like to believe it. kokichi was understood for like the briefest of moments and kaito saw him as he was and then he was dead. i hope that brought him comfort. and this is mostly why i want to believe that its a simulation broadcast as drama television. like surely kokichi wasnt understood for a few hours and then killed for a plan that failed. kokichi gets to live a life outside the killing game and got to see kaito and later shuichi and everyone else and everyone got to see the show while they were waiting for everyone else to come out of the game and maybe they understood each other a little more and maybe they felt bad for each other after thinking about it for a few weeks like. maybe we didnt deserve to be put through that. maybe being put in that kind of situation brings the worst out of people and we just saw the worst of each other because we had to find some ways to survive. i HOPE. SOOOO fucking badly. for MY SAKE....

Once again I got carried away and typed WAYY too much. Everything is under the cut.

Okay so besides Horror, I absolutely love love love Comedy Movies. ADAM SANDLER MOVIES SPECIFICALLY LMFAOOO as I’m typing this I’m literally watching Happy Gilmore. Comedy movies that aren’t afraid to be offensive have my whole heart, my favourite past time is to just get extremely high and sit on my ass giggling for hours on end watching them. Some of my favourites include Step Brothers, War Dogs, Superbad, The Hangover trilogy, Borat and The Dictator.

An extension of this are chick flicks, I absolutely adore them but I don’t watch them as often as I do comedy or horror. A lot of them make me kind of cringe because some are really corny (looking at you Pitch Perfect.) (still love that movie though but my god my nose wrinkles every 5 mins) but some I do adore are Mean Girls (obviously), Clueless, House Bunny, Hot Chick, 13 Going on 30, White Chicks. 500 Days of Summer and Love and Basketball if they even count. Ik they’re more like Romantic Comedies but oh well.

Of course I can’t talk about movies without talking about Horror. I love this genre to death and have a huge marathon rewatching my favs every like .. uhm 3 months. My all time fav is Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it’s sequel (The rest do NOT exist to me. However the 2003 remake is.. alright.) The cinematography is breathtaking in that film and the fact the whole ordeal takes place in broad daylight makes it all the more appealing to me. I love the Sawyer boys as well, they’re all very strong characters. Drayton’s my favourite by far and I love how the movies make you feel sympathy for Bubba despite the fact he’s uhh. yeah. I could go on for hours about that movie it’s just mwah. chefs kiss.

Besides TCM, Halloween is my second fav, a classic. Also the fact I used to have a huge crush on Myers probably adds onto this. I’m only talking about the original and 2018 though. The rest of the Halloween films are okay imo, the only other “good” ones being the first sequel and 4, but my goddd. My hopes were up for Kills and Ends but I do not like them at all. Ends makes me want to rip my hair out and bash my head against my wall. House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects are also in my Top 5 I think. I very much dislike the use of sexual assault in the films, the misogyny and I do not like Rob Zombie in general but gosh the films are still really funny and the gore is done well. Every time Captain Spaulding is on screen it makes me laugh my ass off and I just adore Baby Firefly. Uhm also the fact Dwight from the Office was in it and was turned into FISH BOY funniest shit i’ve ever seen. Also this film is kinda bad in hindsight but it’s just so charming to me I can’t not love it, Sleepaway Camp. I love it to death.

Uhmm also old hip-hop culture movies and things of that sort I love. This includes 8 Mile (I love Eminem he’s such a cutie), Straight Outta Compton, Friday trilogy, Boys N the Hood, Menace 2 Society, Poetic Justice, etc.

Also I love Tarantino films. My personal fav is Kill Bill vol 1.
