honestly i kinda wanna rewrite/reorder looloo land and seeing stars. mostly because i feel like it would work so much better thematically and especially with the final and what it was building up to. like okay hear me out on this one guys

in episode two we get introduced to octavia who is excited for something and she's trying to get stolas' attention so that they can go to see the meteor shower or the tears- whatever. but he can't do that because he's arguing with stella and... yeah she's emo and we quickly understand "oh she's sad because of this divorce" instead of her just seeming purely angsty at the start

so what does octavia do? well she runs off and decides to steal the book and then blah blah blah, stolas is worried about finding octavia because 1) thats his daughter and 2) he doesn't want stella finding out that octavia's lost and using that against him somehow

so anyways it plays out how "seeing stars" did for the most part and reunion! then we have loo loo land where basically stolas is trying to make it up to stella because of the whole thing that happened with him missing seeing the thing with her

she's not really excited and she doesn't want to go, especially because that was more of something she did as a kid AND now they're actually like more in the divorced stage and stuff and that's affecting her a lot more

so anyways same thing happens, stolas flirts with blitz causing her to run away and then he promises to never leave her for blitz... you guys see where im going with this?

yeah he leaves her for blitz at the trial. i feel like that works so much better because he just promised to never leave her and it would affect her so much more because her parents are literally split and stuff.

idk i just like this a lot better than what we got. i feel like switching the episodes around would make it a lot better but thats just me. i also feel like it would help us feel with octavia a little more because putting ocatvia's big forgiving stolas DIRECTLY (as in THEY resolve the issue) at the start made people kinda hate her later on and made her feel more repetitive

they shouldve have loona convincing octavia like "hey your dads going through a lot but he's trying and you should at least let him try" and stuff like that first because then it paints octavia in the forgiving matter that she DOES HAVE and then having her forgive stolas himself later on would only add onto that

THEN having her reject hearing him out again with the final would hit hard cause then it'd feel more like she was being pushed to her breaking point. especially with her song because she JUST forgave him for this and he JUST promised not to leave her for blitz

I love how Stolas' feelings for Blitz do change throughout the course of the show, and he isn't just automatically head over heels for him.

Loo Loo Land takes place around the beginning of their arrangement, and while Stolas still cared for Blitz around that time, it's to a much lesser degree. He doesn't seem as concerned for his safety, almost dismisses it in a way. I think during this time Stolas still sees Blitz as this "invulnerable knight in shining armor", he isn't aware of his walls.

Seeing Stars takes place immediately after Ozzie's, and Stolas reacts completely differently to how he reacted in Loo Loo Land. Stolas looks genuinely worried and concerned, he reaches his hand out and he's thinking, 'Should I help him?'

The reason for this change? Ozzie's happened and Stolas is made aware of what Blitz's thoughts on the relationship were, that it was always only about sex. Stolas, for the first time is made aware of the walls Blitz puts up.

"I can't believe you won," Bonita chimes. 

"Uh, yeah, I told you to just claim the prize," you mutter. 

"And I told you," she pulls you off the subway, "it has to be the ticket holder." 

"Right. You could say you're me." 

"Didn't you read the email?" She huffs as you drag your feet behind her. You hate Manhattan. 

"I skimmed." 

"They have to check ID at the door. As your plus one, I had to submit a bunch of stuff. Didn't you?" She hooks her arm through yours as she urges you through the New York rush. 

You grumble. It's like the universe is laughing in your face. Or hers. It should've been her prize. She's the one who likes all that stuff. As much as you don't want to spit in her face, you're not very happy to spend a rare day off somewhere you don't want to be. 

You're a good friend. That's why you're doing this. That's it. You'll get through it for her. In spite of her. 

You find her waiting where she promised. She's taking selfies right outside the doors of Stark Tower, unbothered by those passing by. You nudge her and hiss, "you're in the way." 

"About time. You're almost late." She lowers her phone and bats her fake eye lashes at her. Oh, she went all out. You thought the sweater and jeans was a fine choice. 

"Almost, but I'm not," you chirp. 

"Lighten up! This is going to be the greatest days of our lives," she squeals and claps, sending her phone to the ground. You let a sigh out quietly. She's so happy. You'll keep the snide remarks to yourself. 

You bend to pick up her phone and hand it over. She snatches it and giggles, "I wonder if I could livestream the tour." 

"Just... enjoy it," you utter. You don't need her holding up her phone like a tourist. No shame, you swear. 

"Woah, hey," you stumble as someone clamours into you. "Sorry, I didn't see you there. Guess I should've looked down." 

The man's hands cling to your arms as he keeps you on your feet. You pull away and spin to face him. Bonita makes an inhuman noise. 

It's him. Steve Rogers. Again. 

"You guys lost?" He asks. 

You look at Bonita. She vibrates with excitement, "um, we won! Er. Oh! We're here because we won the tour and you're supposed to be there and all the others and--" 

"Ha, yes, I am running behind." He says, “uh, I guess you can come in with me.” 

“Oh wow,” Bonita exclaims. “Thanks so much, Captain. I mean Mr. Rogers. No. Er...” 

“Steve’s fine,” he chuckles. “So, you two were at the convention?” 

“Yes, we got a photo,” she affirms. 

He opens the door and waves you ahead of him. You wait for Bonita to take the lead. You reluctantly follow as Steve tails you. 

“I thought you were familiar.” 

“Oh, no, you must meet so many people,” Bonita slows so that he can catch up and you sidle around them, happy enough to take the rear. 

“Eh, yeah, it can get a bit much.” 

“Sounds miserable,” you mutter, then cringe as you remember his super hearing. Oops. 

“I’m sure the rest are waiting,” he stops at a door and puts in a number on the keypad. It flashes red and buzzes. “Ugh, I always forget.” Instead, he moves to look into the dark lens higher up. An ultraviolet flare runs over his eye and the door unlocks. “I can doing that.” 

He opens the door again, a gentleman straight out of the 40s. Once more, you are stuck between the two of them. He points you down the hall to a private elevator. You get on. 

You bob impatiently as Bonita inserts herself between you and Steve. You stare at the reflective doors and let your vision blur. 

“So, um, is the shield here?” She asks. “Not to be lame or anything.” 

“Oh, sure, maybe you could see some of the prototype suits? I think there’s still a few hanging around,” Steve answers. 

“That’s so cool,” she chimes. 

You struggle not to roll your eyes. Instead, you focus and find another pair observing you in the mirrored surface before you. You quickly glance away from Steve’s gaze. 

Finally, your floor comes. You assume since the doors ding and Steve steps ahead of you. You follow him out into a spacious room. You can tell by the windows alone that it’s the very top of tower. 

“There you are, Capsicle,” someone calls over. 

You turn in the direction of the voice as Bonita grabs your arm and points at the dark-haired man. You know who he is. He’s on too many magazine covers and blogs not to. Tony Stark. He stands amid the group of his fellow avengers. 

“I found our lucky winners,” Steve says. 

“Bonita, and er, well, she won,” she pokes you as she introduces you. “Erm, we’re super excited.” 

You stare dully. You want to lie, for her. You do your best; a nod. 

“I remember you two,” Bucky’s voice surprises you. It’s only then you notice him sitting away from the rest of them, lazily flipping a knife. “You had a photo.” 

“Yes, that’s us!” Bonita blusters. 

“Well, ladies, welcome to the tower, these are the big boys... and girls.” Stark steps in front of the rest, “you’ve met Steverino here, and apparently his sidekick, The Raven.” Bucky scoffs as he stands and sheaths the knife. “Not to be cocky but I assume you know the rest of us.” 

“I do!” Bonita declares, “but er...” she looks at you. You half-nod and half-shrug. “It’s Tony Stark!” 

“I know that.” 

“Who doesn’t?” He winks. 

You grumble and his chin tilts slightly in affront. 

“That’s Thor! And Black Widow and Scarlet Witch, and Vision, and Hawkeye, and Hulk...” she goes down the list as you lose track and a little bit of interest. It’s your turn in Scrabble, you feel the notification buzz in your pocket. 

“What? Were you caught in the ice with this one?” Stark jabs Steve with a snicker. “You don’t know the world’s greatest heroes?” 

You stare back at him. “Nice tower, I guess.” 

“Ice cold,” he whistles, “I’ll leave this one to you, Vis. She’s about your speed,” he turns and struts away. 

“It’s your tour,” the woman with the short red bob says; the widow? 

“Contractual obligation but far from my idea,” he counters. “Hey, Banner, how about you take the lead. PhD or whatnot, I’m sure you give a hell of a lecture.” 

“We can go.” You offer and Bonita elbows you. 

“Don’t listen to him,” Steve insists, “we’re all going on the tour. Right, Tony?” 

“Hm, let me grab a whiskey first.”

Oh I am seeing stars. I intended to lay this out on the lounge room floor last night. I got a bit carried away with a cushion cover design and didn't get either thing done. I was up super early this morning (eczema itch! kept me awake!!!) so I got the bin of hexies out and cleared the lounge room floor and spent an hour laying them all out. I wanted to see if I had made all the rows. Turns out I had made too many rows, didn't need all the eights. I will do some rows top and bottom once I have constructed and attached the side units, so next year some time. Next job is to stack and label the side units so they are ready to construct. I will have to figure out how to store them too. The star is stored rolled around a pool noodle but it seems to be stretching a bit as it no longer lies flat when I put it on the floor.

Sorry I’m still not over that scene of Blitz seeing Stolas’ human form for the first time so I’m going to break it down frame by frame

Initial reaction. He’s a little confused and shocked, he didn’t seem to know that Stolas had a human disguise. His eyebrow is quirked and his mouth is wide open in shock, flabbergasted, what he’s seeing hasn’t really set in emotionally yet.

His expression starts to soften, he starts to flush (I think those two little black lines are a blush?) as he really takes it all in (that’s what she said) the “totally just sexual and nothing more” feelings are just starting to pop up.

This is “I’m fucked” level 2. His pupils start to dilate as those pesky confusing complicated feelings have really set in and are visibly expressed as those impenetrable emotional walls haven’t come up yet. He really likes Stolas whether he’s a human or a bird. This is the purest most genuine most emotional vulnerable face of this set.

And this is where the fear and anxiety come in and those walls start to come back up. His pupils contract in stress as his established fear of intimacy hits him in full force. He’s starting to really think about what he’s feeling and he doesn’t like it. This whole deal was supposed to be sexual and superficial, nothing more. In Blitz’ mind, Stolas is using him and he’s using Stolas right back. He thinks that high class demons don’t care about him and the other imps and just want to take what they want from them. These feelings of genuine affection make everything so much more complicated both for Blitz and his mental state as well as the deal between him and Stolas. He doesn’t want to think about it, it scares him, so he starts to push those feelings back down in the locked box where they belong. The walls are back up and at this point, Blitz’s mind is at DEFCON 3.

So I see a lot of complaints about Seeings Stars having too much tonal dissonance after Ozzie’s because Blitz and Stolas aren’t acting like a situationship that just had a major emotional breakdown, and I don’t necessarily disagree with the concept, but I think somet things are being missed here:

1. Blitz and Stolas are both great at compartmentalizing. They’re in the human world on a mission. They don’t have time to act like awkward high schoolers. There is a child running around with a majorly powerful artifact in a dangerous, unfamiliar city. They can be weird around each other later

2. Stolas is no longer masking his autism. This episode is crucial to showing why the two of them actually get along so well. Once Stolas no longer copies the behavior of telenovellas and BookTok books, he and Blitz have great banter. They’re on the same wavelength. He may be dependent on Blitz to take him around the human world, but he can hold his own just fine. (He’s also fucking hilarious). It’s THIS personality, the sassy, confident, caring one, the REAL one, that Blitz fell for.

Idk, maybe this episode is just one of those that should have been moved to Season One before Ozzie’s? I get why people are a little off-put by the filler after Ozzie’s ending so seriously, but I also…don’t? Like we do nothing but complain about how much we want filler for character development, and then we get it, and you shit all over it?
