Already just reblogged this but I do this silly thing where I only happen to think of stuff to say after I hit reblog anyways. There's this one guy in my drama class that I just find really interesting. I'm not attracted to him in any way (I'm aroace regardless) and yet there something about him that "attracts" me in a different way, yet I was never able to put it into words.
And while I think being closer friends with him would be cool, it's not even quite that. He's just a really interesting person. He's extremely funny, but now because he's constantly cracking jokes or something like that. He's just silly and whimsical and such an incredible fucking actor. Like it is genuinely unbelievable how talented he is. This talented, super sweet guy has such a powerful stage presence. He can dance, he can sing and he perfectly portrays each and every character he becomes, but sometimes I'm just sitting up on some part of the set on the stage (my school puts on a musical every year and they are very well known for the incredible production quality) and I'm not doing anything, so I just watch people and it's like my eyes are just drawn towards him as he walks through the room. I'm not kidding about the stage presence. I catch other people doing their own thing until he walks by and he immediately grabs their intention.
I was talking to my best friend last week after the fine art showcase (my school does this twice a year, once for each semester and it's a display of the drama and art classes and suchlike) and I mentioned that this guy's stage presence and my friend instantly understood what I was talking about. As soon as you see this guy walk on stage, you can't ignore him.
And this post has almost perfectly captured my feelings towards this guy. Incredible actor and just a genuinely good person too. Yet it's that fucking stage presence that always gets me. I love watching him perform because his performance is always so captivating. I just know he's going to become like a famous broadway actor or something along those lines. I genuinely really want to see where his career goes, because I've never met anyone with more acting/musical talent and stage presence than this guy.
that thing where you're attracted to someone not in a platonic or romantic or sexual way, but in an 'i want to read about their exploits' kind of way
#yesterday when the drama class was presenting the monologues they wrote#he fucking walked up on stage as cornelius snow fron the hunger games and it was actually terrifying#his character was so convincing#he just has this essence about him and an impressive ability to control it

RE: Nissa’s Retcon
* * *
About once a month, I get a comment on one of my posts saying something along these lines
“Uhhh, you left out the part where Nissa was a fascist!”
“Nissa was more interesting as an elf-supremacist, imo.”
To be perfectly frank, I think both of these points are stupid and not worth my time, but just to give these posters the benefit of the doubt, I’ll assume they mean well and respond to them, once and for all, this way:
To address the first point, you’re right: in my posts celebrating Nissa and the journeys she has taken, I do tend to leave out material that was retconned. This isn’t entirely true, however, as I wrote an entire essay about this on my Tumblr page, which I doubt people slipping into my comments to post “gotcha!” have bothered to read. But anyway, to assume the best of these posters, let’s take a brief look at this retcon. Outside of a few brief blurbs in the “Duels of the Planeswalkers” video game and her 2009-era character description on Magic’s website, the “racist Nissa” characterization comes entirely from the In the Teeth of Akoum novel from 2010. And yes! In this book, Nissa is a hilariously stupid racist (frighteningly like real racists, imo). However, many aspects of this book were retconned in Nissa’s Magic Origins reboot. To note, in the 2010 novel, Nissa has no idea what the fuck Akoum even is and lets herself get led there by Sorin and Anowon. In the reboot, we learn that, among many other changes, she went to Akoum previously in her life, as that journey is what led to her sparking. Either way, post-Origins, many aspects of Teeth are questionably accurate at best. It’s quite safe to assume that with how horrified Nissa is when she sees Lorwyn elves hunting goblin children for sport that that particular aspect of Nissa’s personality (white supremacy) is no longer a part of her characterization.
For the second point, this one is just crazy, man. I don’t know y’all come up with this stuff. I don’t even know how to address this politely. Keep in mind that I am not by any stretch saying that Nissa is now a perfect cinnamon roll that never did anything wrong ever. Nissa is at fault for not trusting Sorin and setting the Eldrazi free. This is a decision that forever will, and should, haunt her. In the newer lore, she still distrusts vampires and outsiders in her youth because of how she was raised, and this is wrong of her. But Nissa does not distrust them because she thinks she is somehow morally superior to them by nature of birth. Nissa was raised as a member of the Joraga nation. The Joraga, as even the most basic of searches into the Magic wiki tells us, “eschewed outsiders and held even the other elves of Zendikar in disdain.” Nissa carries this distrust of outsiders with her into her adult life and doesn’t really learn to let go of this until she meets the Gatewatch and learns to expand her horizons. And again, Nissa was wrong for this xenophobia. But don’t get it twisted: there is still a big difference between fear and distrust of outsiders and fascist, ‘hierarchy of races’ bullshit. Both are rooted in fear, but for all her many shortcomings, the retconned Nissa of the new lore would never advocate for elves ruling the multiverse at the top of a racial hierarchy like the older Nissa would (and did). This is hammered home in her Origin story where she is horrified by watching Dwynen lead other Lorwyn elves as they slaughter entire tribes because they think it's funny. Furthermore, on the subject of Lorwyn elves, I would argue that old Nissa is fairly boring as a villain, as “racist elves” as a concept was already explored in depth in the Lorwyn stories. An entire planeswalker with that as her bit would get boring very quickly.
Lastly, and I suppose this is subjective, but isn’t a nuanced character, deeply flawed but trying her best to shed the xenophobia ingrained in her more interesting that an unrepentant, racist dumbass learning that “goblins are people actually!” only after she condemned an entire world to death? The latter might be (darkly) funnier, I’ll give you that, but the former makes for a much more interesting and emotionally satisfying narrative arc.

can u tell on y ur so interested in jimcurly 😛
OH BOY WHERE DO I START
their relationship is the driving force of the whole game. Curly is the sole reason for why Jimmy was on the ship in the first place. Curly's trust for Jimmy and his inaction is the reason things went to shit (one of it, anyway) Jimmy's jealousy and hatred yet obsession with Curly is also what fuels his decisions. just the line "just you and me, like we used to be" alone. I mean they literally did the cannibalism as a metaphor for love/obsession thing and no one gaf
also just the fact that they're so different is so interesting, makes me think a lot about how they came to be. what their relationship was like in the "long time" Curly said they knew eachother for
they're the kind of straight guys friends who would choose eachother over any woman and that's fascinating to me. my god they suck so bad. you could see their relationship as platonic or romantic or secret third thing and it'll still be fucked up and toxic and codependent and i love that. i love exploring that so bad. speaking of romantic my GOD the internalized homophobia. biting into drywall.
ik a lot of my posts about them are comedic but that too. they're funny as hell
I can list why I'm crazy about them all day but it's gonna get more incomprehensible than this i'll stop for now
TL;DR: they are very interesting

walker and you being best friends, you get asked out by another actor and he’s super jealous after you go on the date
More Than Best Friends?
Walker Scobell had been your best friend for as long as you could remember. From the day you both met on set, the two of you had clicked instantly, sharing inside jokes, and late night FaceTime calls that left you both in tears from laughter. Everyone on the Percy Jackson set joked that you two were inseparable.
But lately, something felt… different.
It started when one of the newer actors on the show, Dylan, asked you out. Dylan was charming, funny, and undeniably attractive. When he approached you after a day of filming, casually asking if you’d want to grab dinner sometime, you were caught off guard but couldn’t help smiling.
“Uh, sure, that sounds fun!” you’d said, trying not to sound too nervous.
But out of the corner of your eye, you noticed Walker watching the whole interaction. His usually easygoing expression had shifted to something unreadable, and he quickly excused himself from the group.
You brushed it off, figuring he was just tired from a long day.
The next few days were… weird. Walker wasn’t texting you as much, and on set, he seemed quieter. You’d try to joke with him like you always did, but his laughs felt forced.
Finally, your date with Dylan arrived. You had a great time he was sweet and a total gentleman. He even walked you back to your trailer after the date, giving you a warm smile before saying goodnight. But as you stepped inside, you were surprised to see Walker sitting on your couch, scrolling through his phone like he owned the place.
“Walker?” you said, closing the door behind you. “What are you doing here?”
He looked up, his expression a mix of casual and annoyed. “Oh, you know, just waiting for my best friend to get back from her date with Dylan the Perfect.”
You raised an eyebrow, kicking off your shoes. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Walker set his phone down, crossing his arms. “Nothing. Just thought you might want to talk about how amazing he is. Did he tell you about his perfect smile and how many followers he has on Instagram?”
You blinked, taken aback. “Whoa, what’s with the attitude?”
“I don’t have an attitude,” he said, though his tone betrayed him.
“Yes, you do. What’s going on?” you asked, sitting down next to him.
Walker avoided your gaze, staring at the wall instead. “I just don’t get it,” he finally said. “You’ve got all these guys lining up for you, and you go for him? What, because he’s tall and has great hair?”
“Walker, what are you talking about? Dylan’s nice,” you said, confused.
“Yeah, he’s nice. So what?” Walker snapped, finally looking at you. “You could do so much better.”
Your heart skipped a beat. “Better? Like who?”
Walker hesitated, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t know… maybe someone who’s actually been there for you. Someone who knows you better than anyone else. Someone who—” He stopped himself, looking away again.
You stared at him, the pieces slowly falling into place. “Wait… are you jealous?”
His silence was all the confirmation you needed.
“Oh my God, Walker,” you said, a small smile forming on your lips. “You’re totally jealous.”
“I’m not jealous,” he mumbled, though the redness creeping up his neck said otherwise.
“Walker…” you said gently, leaning closer. “Why didn’t you just tell me how you feel?”
He finally looked at you, his blue eyes full of vulnerability. “Because I didn’t want to ruin what we have. You’re my best friend, and if you didn’t feel the same way, I’d rather keep it to myself than lose you.”
Your heart melted. “Walker, you’re an idiot,” you said with a laugh.
“Thanks,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Super reassuring.”
“No, I mean…” You took a deep breath. “You don’t have to be jealous of Dylan. I only said yes because I didn’t think you were interested. But… I’ve kind of had feelings for you for a while now.”
Walker’s eyes widened. “You… you do?”
You nodded, smiling. “Yeah. I mean, who else would put up with me stealing all their snacks and sending them terrible memes at 3 a.m.?”
Walker let out a laugh, the tension finally breaking. “Okay, fair point.”
There was a moment of silence before he grinned. “So… does this mean I can officially tell Dylan to back off?”
You laughed, leaning your head against his shoulder. “Yes, Walker. You can tell Dylan to back off.”
And just like that, your best friend became something more.
A/N: please more request definitely my fav even though i say that all about all of them.

((Howwwww do you think I felt seeing 'Oh cool! That author who throat punched me responded? Why is there a lecture on inc-OHHHHHHHH I HAVE ERRORED GREATLY. Also chapter 7 was another good one and I am nervous Stan is about to have a new scar on his left shoulder opposite the one he got from his fight 30 years ago. The guilt/frustration and the idea that 'whenever I see my brother and we fight/argue I get a new super scar' is throwing some ideas at me. I like how the kids are responding, Mable seeking reassurance and even though Dipper is still mad, but also trying to move towards normalacy (I think that's what it looks like to me) so he is acting like he normally would. I will say Stan getting cared/babied y Ford is such a funny concept because he should like it but it's not a pleasent time.))
Sequel 👁️👁️ ?? I await to see how I can read another one of your works and then go back to work as if I hadn't just had my heart stomped. The loony bin idea came from Dipper & Mabels guide to non stop fun where Stan says the Ink blots remind him of his loony days. It's on page 146 in a throwaway line bUT THE PLOT IS STILL THERE!!! Especially since we know he did a lot of unsavory/traumatizing stuff during his drifter days. (If you get a chance to see the cut line where Stan was supposed to say he wouldn't have survived the summer when he was pleading to dipper during not what he seems. My guy really is not defeating the depression ideas at all.)
(don't worry about it, mistakes happen to the best of us. I'm just glad that it wAS a mistake and that my stuff ISN'T associated with...all that crap.)
Stan is going to have a lot of scars ALL over his arms. (A HC that I have is he had a bunch of minor ones that we don't see in the show because when have ever seen that one scar on the inside of his arm besides Roadside Attraction--point it out to me in other episodes if y'all can see it--either it's a continuity thing that didn't matter or it was to illustrate that we can't see Stan's scars) Though his shoulder might be worse than everywhere else.
I looked up the thing about the "loony bin" that you talked about and OMGOSH the theories are insane. I actually freaking love this idea and am now thinking of adding at least another extra chapter in my fic for stan and ford to have some very important conversations about each other.
I don't think we can cover everything I want to do just in chapters 8 and 9...we might have a chapter 10 we'll see. I know how the fic ends, and I know how the next one begins, and it's kind of nice how they fit together. I don't want them to be the same because like u can start the new fic yk without reading the old one even though the context makes it better and stuffs.
Stan doesn't think he deserves babying, even though he secretly wants it more than anything. He wants to let himself be cared for, but he's always too scared that it's too good to be true and he thinks that once people figure out how bad he is they'll leave him. He knows Ford left him once, and so while he's anxious to cling to Ford, he also feels like Ford might want to leave again since Stan is "worthless" and since he loves his brother, he'd respect that even if he didn't like it, because in his eyes, Ford is worth more than the world.
As for Stan himself, yes he is very depresso. He needs LUUUUV. so while I want to like have his trauma detailed and stuff, I also want to give him the world and a few more hardships because that keeps life interesting. For us, not for him. He'd rather be happy. And he will be happy, but nobody is happy all the time.
Actually, I started writing this before I found out about the cut line (that just confirmed everything that I thought) and I was actually like "oh my gosh I kind of wish they'd've kept some version of this" type deal yk? super cool though.
I actually want to include Stan and Ford talking through some of Stan's trauma from the drifter days, and also Ford's trauma from the portal. Most of that will probably come in my second fic, though.
I also have a reverse portal AU fic that I'm slowly working on (bringing to liiiife) and it seems really good so far. I'll probably end up posting it at some point.
Anyways, here's a picture tease for the start of chapter 8
I realized I drew it the wrong way so I had to manually mirror it by editing my photo. It's kind of funny...I didn't want to redraw it but I realized too late XD
Hope y'all enjoy. And thank you for the info (hehe and the ideas)

Hello again! I'm back with another That '70s Show original script. This time we'll be looking at S3xE23 "Backstage Pass"!
This one is extra special because of who it belonged to - one Corey Landis. And it's a table draft, which means there were quite a few changes (some of them significant!). Read on for my summary.
Who's Corey Landis? you may ask. Fair question.
He is the actor who plays a young Red Forman a few different times throughout the series! It's really cool to see the different notes he wrote to himself about how a scene should be staged or acted.
First up, right off the bat the cold open has some different lines.
As you can see, the scene still ends in the same place and most of what the characters say is similar. You can see how they made it slightly shorter in the episode.
I like that Fez is interested in the soybean futures lol, that in the actual episode Eric's line was, "Pork belly prices. How cute is that?" instead, and that LP might've improvised her bit about forgetting to turn off the microphone (or it was added by a writer/producer in a later version of the script).
Eric and Donna's next scene is virtually the same, except for one major difference...
... the band they went to see was originally going to be Aerosmith! In the actual episode, they went to see Ted Nugent. There must have been some kind of licensing issue with being able to use Aerosmith. It's a significant difference, though, because this episode would've continued the characterization that Donna has a crush on Steven Tyler.
There's also this funny, cut moment at the end of Eric and Donna's scene at the radio station:
Now onto the parents.
Some more Bob and Midge lore:
Red and Kitty's interaction is nearly word for word, but check out the actor's notes from the table read!! Pretty cool.
The next scene sees the gang waiting for the Aerosmith Ted Nugent concert to begin. And again it's similar, though not identical, to the scene that aired - Jackie and Kelso discuss their week of romance, Eric and Donna are eager for the concert to begin, and Fez and Hyde reveal their misspelled concert merch.
I was robbed of another Eric & Donna kiss (and a hug!), though 😡 + Eric calling her his "best girl". 🥹
Next we're back to the parents.
Red is still trying to remember how he and Kitty really met, and Kitty is becoming increasingly upset. In the episode she told him her version of events at this point, but in the script it is dragged out a little longer.
The Packer refrigerator magent line made me chuckle, ngl.
Back at the concert. This scene is again nearly identical to what really aired, but I enjoyed Kelso's Aerosmith versions of the songs he changed for Jackie. 😂
Then we check in on Fez and Hyde, who are struggling to sell their misprinted t-shirts just like in the episode.
Donna's scene backstage is word for word, except she's interviewing Steven Tyler instead of Ted Nugent.
In the next scene, Fez and Hyde get arrested. The scene is practically the same, except we get a little more insight into how upset Eric is with Donna. "Tonight was supposed to be about us," 😫. And I like Fez's Cheryl Tiegs line from the actual episode better.
Then the script cuts back to Red and Kitty. It's basically the same scene from the actual episode, but with a few added details. Horseface Lynn Taylor is mentioned again 🤣
Then Eric's scene with the janitor (Stanley!!), and Donna's scene backstage where Ted/Steven offers to let her touch the guitar are word for word.
Kelso and Jackie's storyline and lines are mostly unchanged throughout, but this added line from Eric at the end of their final scene made me 😂🤣
Then we're back to Red and Kitty to conclude their storyline for the episode. The scene starts out the exact same, but ends with slightly different lines.
I just love getting to see the actor's notes!
And finally, the biggest difference of all: in the script, Eric and Donna's final scene takes place in the Forman basement, not outside of the concert venue. I'm glad they changed that, because all I can think is: how did Donna get home that night? Even though he was pissed, Eric really left her there? No no no no no. 😣 I think it's much more in character that he waited.
I do like that in the script Donna at least actually apologized - in the episode, she didn't. It's widely acknowledged within the fandom that this is one of Donna's worst moments on the show, regardless.
As one of the final episodes of season 3, this episode/storyline was integral to setting the stage for Eric and Donna's emerging break-up and it does the job. The original script even more so than the actual episode, in my opinion.
Well, that's all I've got for this one! Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more in the series. I'm your *very* pregnant and uncomfortable host, @thatseventiesbitch 😄.

📘✒️ Serena Stark's Guide to Creating the Perfect Nickname 🖋️📘 (Because Obviously, I'm a Pro)
Alright, folks, gather around. It's time for an important lesson from yours truly. As someone who’s basically an expert in sarcasm, chaos, and unnecessary nicknaming, I’ve decided to grace you all with my genius. Today’s topic: how to create the perfect nickname.
First off, let’s address the most pressing question: Why do I nickname people in the first place? Simple. Because I can. And also because everyone needs a personalized little jab of affection to keep things interesting. Trust me, it’s an art form—one that I’ve mastered (obviously).
Step 1: Know Your Victim (I Mean, Target).
Before you slap a nickname on anyone, you’ve got to know who they are. Are they grumpy like Bucky? Are they the epitome of sarcasm like Stephen? Are they sweet and innocent, like Peter Parker (who doesn’t really need a nickname, but I’m gonna give him one anyway)? Know their vibe, their personality, and most importantly, their weak spots. It helps in crafting the perfect nickname that’s both hilarious and occasionally terrifying.
Step 2: Keep It Personal, Keep It Real.
A good nickname isn’t just random—it’s gotta have meaning. Take Bucky, for example. I call him “Metal Head” because, well, he has a metal arm. And he’s got this grumpy, “I’ve been through way too much” vibe that I just can’t help but tease. He’ll grumble, but I know he secretly loves it. Don’t overthink it; let your instincts guide you.
Step 3: Make It Memorable.
If you’re gonna nickname someone, you want them to remember it. Forever. That's why Stephen gets the honor of several nicknames. I’ve called him everything from "The Grinch" to "Mr. Cedric". Seriously, Stephen has the most nicknames I’ve ever given anyone, and I’ll keep coming up with new ones as long as he keeps being Stephen. He’s stuck with me forever, nickname overload included.
Step 4: Use Their Flaws Against Them.
Want a nickname that cuts deep (but in the best way)? Call them out on their flaws in a loving, playful way. Did someone just fail miserably at their job? Perfect opportunity for a nickname. Does someone have a tendency to take themselves way too seriously? “Sir Too-Smart-For-Us” works just fine. Stephen’s constant lecturing? Oh, we’re calling that “Old Man Wizard” until the end of time.
Step 5: Respect the Boundaries (Sort Of).
You might think this is a joke, but there’s actually a line when it comes to nicknames. Don’t go overboard with something too mean. Teasing is fun, but make sure they don’t start planning your funeral after you call them “Tin Can” one too many times.
Step 6: Get Ready for the Repercussions.
You’ve named them. They’re stuck with it. But also… they’re gonna start calling you something in return. Do you want them to come up with a nickname for you? Of course you do. You’ve planted the seed for your own nickname to flourish. And let’s be honest, it’s going to be a mess. But a fun one.
Step 7: Be Ready for Backlash
Some people hate their nicknames at first. Trust me, I know. But if you really think it fits them, you’ve gotta stand your ground. If you call someone “Snowflake” and they roll their eyes? Just remind them you’re too cool for them to stay mad at. And eventually, they’ll be calling themselves that with pride. (Unless it’s Stephen—he’ll just grumble through it and pretend not to like it.)
Step 8: Don’t Overdo It
There’s a fine line between creating a funny, iconic nickname and just sounding like a broken record. Don’t be that person who over-uses the nickname to the point where it loses its meaning. A well-placed nickname has more impact than using it every two seconds.
Step 9: Make Sure It’s Never Boring.
The best nicknames are anything but boring. Don’t settle for the generic stuff like “Bob” or “Steve.” You need something that stands out, something that says, “Yeah, I’m calling you out, but it’s in the most clever and entertaining way possible.” Like calling Daniella "Red Menace™️" because, let’s face it, she’s a tough woman (and a bit of a grudge). Or “Starry” for Celestia—because, well, she’s literally a walking constellation of power and mystery. Creativity is key. Make it memorable, make it personal, and make it stick.
Step 10: Own It.
Once the nickname’s out there, own it. It’s part of your persona now. Embrace it. If you’re gonna call Stephen “The Old Man Wizard,” don’t back down when he gives you a glare. He’s gonna call you “Kid” anyway, so you might as well embrace the chaos.
And there you have it, folks. The perfect formula for creating nicknames that will last through time and space—and get you roasted by your friends. But hey, if they can't handle the heat, they shouldn't have entered the kitchen.
Now, go forth and nickname everyone. Just, uh, maybe avoid nicknaming Tony "Tin Can" unless you want a lecture on why you shouldn't. Trust me, I've tried.

Tim knows he was probably going to regret his offer the second the dog park left his lips. Saturdays were his peace, his comfort with Kojo away from the chaotic behaviors of humans, of the annoyance from his co-workers but he knew Lucy missed our dog, he could tell with the way she looked at KoJo, so yes sue Tim for wanting to toss out a olive branch for one day. Besides I did strong arm her into taking care of me, a aspect I wanted to roll my eyes at. But given the pain medications, the dizzy spells I may have if I wasn't tended after. I thought I may be able to put up with her annoyance for one morning.
I swear this girl, I may like how she teases me back, gives what I give a challenge. But No I would never be caught giving Lucy Chen that satisfaction, no thank you. “ Oh I know you’ll be your annoying self, its a special trail of yours apparently. “ Cue the man rolling his eyes, and no he said she could show up, not that he was going partially spend time with her, normally the dog park he sat and scrolled on his phone or was chewing someone out on the line, while KoJo was the one who ran happily playing with the other friendly dogs. Tim would be Time and pretend his pain in the ass partner wasn’t visible. “ Its Bradford to you Chen.” He was quick to response, a slight annoyance, as if he’d enjoy time with a rookie, with Chen his pain in the ass.
Who wanted to get a receiving rise out of him, she liked to see his squirm and he’d never be caught dead giving off that satisfaction. The male rolled his eyes once more as his eyes now felt glued to the screen as if his heart wasn’t becoming farther disappointed in his team. Rams get your asses together, he could tell Lucy one had no interest to learn about the game, nor did she quite understand what her eyes were witnessing now. It was kinda funny to watch her confusion. But his own body couldn’t handle this lost, a big exhaled sigh escaped his lips. “ With all the medications I was given is it too soon to ask for a beer? Or i fear I will be tearing those stitches?” It wans’t an ask for real, Tim was either gonna get Lucy to give in or he’d get up and get a beer himself. Besides it appeared Lucy was in the mood to play nice, games even..
@timtestsdontscareme
The man in charge, the man that followed rules. One after the other, a good head on his shoulders. Tim once said to himself the only one you can count on is yourself. He knew what it was like to be let down; to not be chosen. His family wasn’t the picture perfect, he had his sister, his father was a man he never wanted to know again. He was a man of action, he put each one of his rookies through hoops and hoops. Angela thought he was nuts; that he was deemed to be a tad crazy. And this is why he always found himself riding the shop on his own. No Rookie had been tough enough to ride out his great Tim tests.
That was until Lucy Chen was given the shot. She wasn’t afraid to call me out or to show me up. Her very first day I hated to admit but I was impressed. She stood her own ground, she passed each test as if it was second nature to her. Sometimes I felt like she read my mind; our banter tended to balance on its own. Tim was a hard ball never admit when his partner was right; never liked the idea that he might remotely care about her. It all occurred in moments. A moment of care when I put myself on the line I’d rather be the one to be hurt over her. The memory of that house, locked bedroom as I exposed myself to the Virus, I knew what I was doing when I closed the door on Lucy her shouts of reassurance of asking if I was okay filled my ears. Holding my breath as I tried to calm the bystander down, the virus was contented in this room. Safe from the world; and I was someone who constantly jumped into the line of fire, it’s who I was. Obviously or I wouldn’t be the cop that I was. Tim was selfless at times, that was only one of the many rare occurrences that he did show up for his partners.
This time around it was a gun worn down to his head. He flinched at last minute. He remembered trailing the guy down; weapon in hand. Feet molded against the dry pavement. I spoke into my radio, I knew Chen was on the other end, I told her cross over to the other edge; that this ally was a circle. And fingers gripped against the trigger preparing myself as I came to a pause outside the ally, aim at the target; Liam was his name, I remembered the file Angela had clued me in on when we hunted down this guy. “ Lower your weapon.” I shouted the memory clear as day to me. I was about to lower mine when his fingers flinched against his gun; I heard Lucy, she was just arriving attempting to cover her pending breathes. It all happened fast; I saw it; I saw his fingers pressing against the trigger I had this ache in my chest believing Lucy was about to get shot, and I ran like a speed of light. I ran to jump in front and I heard the gun shot, and ultimately yhe bullet pressed against my chest.
Caught in the line of duty. I cared, I liked to play a game of hard ball but I’d jump in line each time to protect her. Eyes slowly came to open now as the memories of flashes flickered through my mind. The accident. Eyes adjusted to the light, a loud huff escaped my lips one from being in the hospital again. And from the ached that formed on his abdominal from the bullet that was freshly removed. A groan heard as he tried to bite down on his lower lip, eyes finding its way to a sleeping Lucy tucked into the chair, her legs folded under her frame as her elbow kept her head up. Had she stayed all night?
Brows pushed together; as his hues lingered almost fixated. He told himself he’d let her rest; he knew Lucy she was feeling the weight of this case of my shooting, she probably hadn’t slept in hours..

#cant remember the original context for drawing his character pinned against the wall by Malenia#i just remember thinking it would be funny LOL. he really likes her armor but doesnt like the foot gear cuz of her weird toes#i think theyre supposed to be prosthetics...?? but im not really interested in playing elden ring so i didnt bother to look it up#i think the preceptors set especially the hat looks really cool.. i love how the brim has stars and planets shaped like a solar system#so cool.. the sanguine noble robe and travelers chestpiece have to be my favorites but i also like the night maiden headdress#its just a little hard to pair it with other armor pieces bc i like things for The Drip. the gloves with the cloth lining are soo pretty#he also gave his character a cool blind eye by making the left eye white and then adding a scar over it and it SEVERELY FUCKS#he let me pick the hair and i went for short hair cuz it felt the most practical. but he doesnt give his player character any kind of#backstory either so he doesnt think abt it that hard. too busy fighting eldritch bird fetus dragons i guess. i like rya though#my art#myart#doodles#oc#??? sort of?????#elden ring#malenia blade of miquella#elden ring malenia

Tron hums, looking Paige up and down. It's one part assessing, one part approving. She's been good for Beck's confidence, supportive even when Tron had to ask for his help during or before a date (he tried to avoid that - Beck's social life has taken enough of a hit as-is). Didn't mind Beck has secrets - backed off when Beck told her they weren't fully his secrets and he couldn't tell her without approval from all involved parties.
The Renegade secret is the last major secret Tron knows Beck has. If there's any others, Tron doesn't know them either.
"What was that?" Beck demands, after he takes Paige home - not to the barracks, interesting, another point in her favour for breaking away from that regime.
"I like her." Tron answers, smiling a little. "She's good for you. Not afraid to stand her ground, too."
"...did you just have a datapacket-measuring contest with my girlfriend." Beck's tone is disbelieving, and Tron has to bite down on snickers. "Tron. Are you serious. Did you do that-?"
Tron has to mute the comm to keep Beck from hearing him, almost doubling over with laughter as Beck's demands for information get more and more incredulous.
A new contact pops up - the girlfriend herself. "I can clear the building for mandatory emergency drills if you want to get hold of those plans for the mass rectifiers. Also, are you winding my boyfriend up?"
"Thank you." Tron hesitates. "And... maybe a little." Beck did tell him to at least try to be more personable.
"He's swearing at you. It's funny."
Tron can hear Beck over the line. "I know."
"You're not so bad, I guess." Paige is warm, amused. A lot like Yori, at least in how much she loves, supports, and enables her partner, while still finding it in her to laugh at his antics. "Take care of him?"
"You're alright yourself." Tron teases, then sobers. "I will, just make sure you do the same."
Paige hums down the comm line. "Will do. Stay online."
She hangs up then, and Tron's left with hope's faint warmth and far less loneliness than before.
"You know, Yori?" Tron asks the air quietly. "I think the kids are gonna be just fine."
Beck: Paige, there’s someone I’d like you to meet.
Paige: That’s the real Tron? He’s alive? Then…no offense, but why did he need you to be the Renegade?
Tron: Reasons.
Beck: Shut it. Now look, I want the both of you to get along.
Tron: As long as you like her and she doesn’t betray us, I’m happy.
Beck: Oh. Really? Great!
Tron: Paige, if you hurt him, they’ll never stop finding your remains.
Paige: I wouldn’t expect anything less.
Beck: What did I JUST say?

wait, is there a dovi/jorge feud???? i didn't know this!! also thank you so much for all you do for this community ❤️
not the only ask I've gotten about this and... look, rather than doing a proper write up that would take forever, I'm just gonna give my top ten fun... facts? bits of trivia. tidbits related to the two of them. quite long tidbits, on second glance. the highlight reel, if you will
(1) that time andrea dovizioso made 14 year old jorge lorenzo cry
the two of them already raced each other before the start of their grand prix careers, competing for the first time in 2001 in the cev when dovi was around 15 and jorge around 14. in riveras tobia's biography, here's jorge talking about their first fight:
I led the way at the start and Dovizioso and I escaped. It was our first head-to-head encounter, the first time we raced each other. My dad had heard that Dovi was a really clever rider and he warned me before the race. But just like in 1998 at Jerez, with Olive, I acted like a dummy and pushed for the whole race. I kept looking behind me to see the bastard still there! It was impossible to shake him off, he was watching me the whole race until the last lap. Three comers from the end I could hear his engine getting closer and I saw his shadow to my left, but he didn't come past. I thought to myself "This guy is going to try something in a second!" I decided I had to on a tighter line and close the door. Sure enough, Dovi went wider through that comer and then dived up the inside. I didn't close the door in time and tried to get in his slipstream, desperately hoping I could get him the next corner, but I ran wide and he won. I came back in tears, I didn't even want to go to the podium, I felt so cheated. I'd been on the limit for the whole race and I felt like I deserved the win more than he did.
so that's a nice and positive start! there's something charming about how even fifteen year old dovi was an absolute menace on last laps
also about that race:
'Jorge beat Dovi in Braga but in the previous race at Most, what a tantrum!' recalls Juanito, laughing. 'He didn't even want to go to the podium, he was crying like a baby! I can still see Dani (Antatriain) talking to him, trying to convince him. In the end he went but he didn't want to look at anybody.'
(2) the photo finish
in 2004, they were rivals in 125cc - a year in which dovi claimed the title and jorge was p4 in the standings. in the very first grand prix ever at the lusail circuit (pretty eventful weekend, you have to say), jorge and dovi crossed the line at the exact same moment
(3) dovi's top three favourite career win
dovi and jorge progressed through the categories at the exact same rate, and after their 125cc rivalry they continued fighting in 250cc. they were title rivals in both 2006 and 2007, with jorge's aprilia winning out both times against dovi's underpowered honda. (the general pattern was that dovi clawed back a bunch of points from jorge in the wet - jorge, with perhaps the exception of a few years in the premier class until around 2013, has never been much of a wet weather racers, while it's always been one of dovi's strongest traits.) for dovi's 300th career start in 2019, he was asked what his top three wins were - and one of his picks was from way back when in 2007
I'd recommend the race! which... well, I did in the race rec post - and I can only reiterate that these two kids do not acknowledge each other, not good vibes at all
(4) jorge's thoughts on young dovi from 2008
Jorge has a lot of respect for Andrea Dovizioso and feels that his two 250cc world titles have even more prestige because he had to beat the Italian to win them. 'You wouldn't label Dovizioso as fast, particularly, but he's much faster than he looks. He doesn't set many pole positions but he is always up front in a race, fighting to win. He is very intelligent and you can't trust him an inch on the last lap. He has been faithful to Honda, he has great belief in them. His negative side is that he tends to play the victim too much. He'll say that if his bike had a better engine or if it was a bit faster he would win. He's even said that if he was on the same bike as me he'd give me a hiding. I think he looks for excuses too often sometimes, but as a rider and a person I don't have a bad word to say about him.'
some dovi traits read as very familiar, from how he's a better racer than qualifier to the intelligence to the last lap prowess. as for jorge saying dovi plays victim too much? well
also this:
ER: Don't you think that Dovizioso wanted to be World Champion too in 2006 and 2007? Don't you think he gave everything to achieve it? JL: He will think he gave his maximum but he will be lying to himself because nobody does that. Nobody gets close to their maximum, not even me. He will think that he didn't win because he was riding a Honda. There are very few sportsmen who will say, I deserve what happened to me and there are no excuses. I didn't know how to do any better and I've done things wrong.' That is the only way to be the best, the only way. People who make excuses don't get to the top. I know riders who haven't made it for just that reason.
plus ça change
(5) jorge's thoughts on young dovi from 2018
when they were doing their thing as ducati teammates (bickering), here is one of the things jorge said about dovi:
dovi's been trying to undermine jorge's morale his WHOLE career... even when they were but teenagers... love it when you can really tell someone's been sitting on something for over a decade
(6) "also lorenzo is not my friend"
both of them moved up to motogp in 2008, jorge with factory yamaha and dovi with satellite honda. dovi had a very strong rookie season and finished in p5, only sixteen points behind jorge in p4 (who after a promising first few races had spent a lot of time that season crashing). after that, their fortunes diverged. dovi did not have a particularly happy time in the factory honda team and needed to do some shrewd negotiating to be retained by them for 2011 in that three-man squad, while jorge of course won the championship in 2010
here's a deep cut from 2011, a season where much of the excitement and drama was caused by marco simoncelli alone. jorge had exchanged tense words with sic in estoril, one race before simoncelli was responsible for a crash where dani broke his collarbone. the crash and sic's subsequent penalty meant that the three-way fight between jorge, dovi and valentino became one for the podium, with dovi and valentino eventually grabbing the two remaining spots behind casey. but during the race, jorge had executed a... questionable manoeuvre on dovi, one that did have some similarities to the sic/dani incident. given jorge's strong previous comments on racing standards, unsurprisingly the journalists pounced on this incident in the post-race presser and ask the podium sitters about it. here is the clip:
in this clip, dovi essentially says it was a dangerous move from jorge, but he wasn't sure what jorge's intent had been and he needs to watch the footage again. valentino (who had been the most outspokenly critical of sic of the three of them earlier in the presser) takes the opportunity presented to him to have a bit of a potshot at jorge. he says that dovi doesn't have the best relationship with sic but jorge had done something pretty similar in the race... at which point dovi goes "also lorenzo is not my friend"
which, you know. not exactly a major incident, but I find it very charming dovi felt the need to clarify that, actually, he doesn't like either of them. valentino also adds that by jorge's own standards, surely he too should have gotten a penalty. not exactly a meeting of jorge's biggest fans hm
(7) mapping eight-gate
well I can't leave it out, can I
so in 2017 jorge switches from yamaha to ducati and does not have a great time of it. a lot of weekends, he's just too slow, other times he shoots to the front of a race at the start (typically not great news for the rest of the field in his yamaha days) and then chews up his tyres before gradually dropping like a stone back through the field. at some point that year it became a bit of a running gag - especially when you saw he was the only big name to be picking a soft tyre and just went... buddy we ALL know how this is gonna end....
while this was happening, his teammate dovi was for the first time in his premier class career in championship contention. an extremely close title fight throughout the year with five protagonists until pretty late in the season, it eventually went to a title decider in valencia between dovi and marc. you know, the kind of year where every point counts. the race where marc put a bit of daylight between himself and dovi was phillip island, with marc winning a great dogfight out front while dovi had a bit of a horror show of a weekend. this meant that a lot would have to go right for dovi to have a chance of still winning the title... and sepang was already a match point race for marc
ducati had not won a championship since their 2007 title, courtesy of one casey stoner. after that year, their bike became steadily less competitive every season, reaching a nadir around the 2011-13-ish period. so by the time 2017 rolled around, they wanted this so so badly - even if they wouldn't have expected dovi to lead the charge. dovi had only narrowly beaten out iannone in the 'who's going to be fired for our shiny new lorenzo hire' contest of 2016, and really it was supposed to be jorge who was carrying ducati's dreams on his shoulders. but, never mind, they were throwing everything behind dovi now... no stone left unturned
which brings us, of course, to the subject of team orders. this discourse really took off at the penultimate race of the season at sepang, but was already brewing before that - and in phillip island, satellite ducati rider redding had been told early in the race to let dovi past
here from marc at sepang:
dovi had been in great form all weekend at sepang - and with his wet weather prowess being what it was, really there shouldn't have been any need for team orders at all. but he got a sluggish start, and the race unfolded from there... until eventually jorge was in first, dovi was in second and marc in fourth. in those positions, marc would have clinched the title there
and then, jorge got a message on his dashboard. suggested mapping: mapping 8. pit boards and dashboards and all sorts of boards will feature various codes during races, most of them completely innocuous - but of course they are a healthy source of all sorts of conspiracies. the timing of this one was certainly... notable, and speculation immediately started about how it might be a way of telling jorge that he should swap positions with dovi
jorge didn't end up letting dovi pass - it is questionable whether he really would have done so with what would have been his first ducati win on the line. in the end, he made a mistake that let dovi through so that dovi claimed the win anyway, keeping himself in mathematical contention in valencia. and jorge did say afterwards he was keeping dovi's title hopes in mind, kind of
jorge also said he hadn't gotten any message indicating team orders, and of course nobody at ducati confirmed that mapping eight did have anything to do with team orders
for what it's worth, this is what dovi said about their relationship at this stage:
lovely! let's see what the vibes are like a few months later
anyway, onto valencia. this race was pretty boring despite being a title decider, but the jorge/dovi bits were just unequivocally the weekend's most enjoyable aspect and rather nicely spiced up the whole thing. dovi's chances were always slim going in, given he'd have to win the race and marc would have to barely get any points at all... but still, you never know, right? marc could always crash (narrator: he did almost crash). jorge plays coy early in the weekend about the whole 'helping dovi out thing', and basically just started putting in place...? ... very specific conditions...? under which he'd help:
so during the actual race, dovi got stuck behind jorge in p5, with marc ahead of both of them. valencia is traditionally not a fantastic track to overtake at... so even if dovi had been faster, it's not like he'd have an easy time clearing jorge and cracking on. but they were beginning to drift further away from dani in p3 as ducati watched on, increasingly unamused by what was happening - and the tv cameras were of course kind enough to repeatedly show the ducati box looking deeply unamused. again, they went for the good old mapping eight message, which, hey, that could mean anything! they sure did keep showing it to jorge though, almost like he wasn't paying attention to it
eventually, they abandon all subtlety and go for a pit board message that does just straight-up tell jorge to swap positions. jorge kept ignoring the messages, lap after lap, and he never ended up letting dovi past. eventually they both crashed and marc claimed the title with a p3 finish, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway, but... still. the feeling was that this might things rather awkward inside of ducati
publicly, ducati was extremely keen to smooth over the whole controversy, saying they totally weren't mad at jorge blatantly ignoring team orders. jorge had, after all, explained to them (and the media, repeatedly) that he had totally been intending to help dovi by dragging him closer to dani
Giving his take on events, Lorenzo acknowledged that he ignored Ducati’s instruction because he felt Dovizioso’s chances would be boosted by having him directly ahead. “Even looking at this [dashboard] suggestion, I keep pushing until the end, because I knew it was the best thing for me, for Ducati and for Dovi,” said Lorenzo. “I helped him to improve his pace by one or two tenths, to be as close as possible to the first group. My intention was, and it was the case, that we arrive at the first group. If he had the option to win, I would have gone wide and let him pass. But unfortunately it was not like that. Maybe in some corners Dovi was close and I slow down a little bit his pace, but in general terms, having my wheel in front of him made him improve slightly his pace. I helped him stayed closer to the front group. “I knew Dovi was struggling, I knew his pace during all the weekend, and I knew he was making the best pace of the weekend just in the race. It was [because of the] help from my wheel. I’m happy because I was not wrong. If I was wrong and slowing him, I would be very sorry. But it’s not like that, my feeling was true.”
which, you know. is it really that easy to tell how much faster you are than someone who's sitting on your rear tyre? who's to say. dovi did certainly seem rather keen to get past
anyhow, of course there were plenty of fun dramatics post-race:
'our rider ignored team suggestions not team orders' is a great line, fairs. there's plenty more of this from ducati, some excellent spin doctoring - and dovi was extremely magnanimous about what had happened:
the whole thing was pretty undignified from all non-dovi parties, but it was also very funny so who's to say if it was bad or not
(8) runner-up-gate
let's check in on them in 2018, the second and ultimately last year in which they were teammates. remember that 'undermining morale' quote from above? those are from early 2018, after dovi says he wouldn't be surprised to see jorge elsewhere the following season. so, once jorge has complained that dovi had been trying to put him down his entire career, comes this:
so that's something. jorge, dovi and dani have a three-in-one crash in jerez, after which some fingers are pointed but it all remains fairly civil, and a bit later dovi says that jorge's approach doesn't work at ducati:
by the summer break, jorge's results had gotten better, but it was already too late to save the relationship with ducati and they parted ways. anyway, here's dovi and jorge having another go at it:
And while a rough patch for Dovizioso coupled with breakthrough back-to-back wins for Lorenzo in Mugello and Barcelona have now left the pair just three points apart in the standings, Dovizioso refused to back down from his claim when speaking to Spanish sports daily Marca ahead of the upcoming Brno race. “He’s won two races,” Dovizioso said. “Winning two races does not solve the problem of a year and a half. Lorenzo was not signed to win two races. Therefore I do not change my mind.” When the comments were put to Lorenzo, the three-time champion offered an ardent retort, stating that Dovizioso's rhetoric was proof of the claim he'd made back in April. “I'm a bit fed up with this situation, mainly because when I had trouble and he was winning, I was down there applauding,” Lorenzo told Spanish broadcaster Movistar. “What I said in Argentina - and the comments caused a big surprise - you can see that I was right. “He tried to undermine me, or downplay what I achieve or just attack me. As you can see, I wasn't lying. He's still doing it and now he says my method is not good, according to him.” Lorenzo intimated that Dovizioso was in no position to criticise him, as the Italian could do no better than runner-up to Marc Marquez in a 'perfect' 2017 season. He said: “I think my method has not worked too bad in my career. I've won three MotoGP titles and have 46 wins.” “In my second year in Ducati I'm usually faster than him, but maybe I should look at his method closer if in his best season, with everything going perfectly, he was second. Otherwise he's fourth or seventh usually. I'd tell him to leave me to go my way and to focus on his own and everything will be better, because when you have an angry Lorenzo it's usually worse for you.”
fair to say that by this point the pretence at civility has mostly been dropped. I'm rather fond of the "lorenzo was not signed to win two races" line, though "when you have an angry lorenzo it's usually worse for you" is also really strong stuff. dovi tries to restore a little bit of peace:
Responding in turn to Lorenzo's tirade, Dovizioso sought to play down the conflict. “Jorge has his ideas and I think they are based on particular things. I don't think like him, but it's not a problem,” he told Movistar. “Everybody creates their own ideas based on what they see and how they live. “I don't think he has everything clear in his head about what's happened, but we continue the relationship that we started last year with respect, there's no particular problem. If he thinks this way, that's his problem."
so basically the classic 'idk what he's on about but it's not my problem' approach to attempting to defuse feuds
(9) twitter-gate
there's a few more on-track battles where it's nicely obvious how badly they want to beat each other, with jorge beating marc just ahead of dovi in austria and then dovi beating jorge in brno. jorge's season is increasingly derailed by injuries, which sets the stage for their next big spat:
The row was sparked by Dovizioso's comments to Sky Italia after qualifying at Sepang on Saturday, as he was asked what he thought of Lorenzo having to pull out of the Malaysian GP weekend with injury. "I don't know the details, I don't want to get into this, it's a bit of a strange situation," said Dovizioso."It happens often in Ducati or to certain riders, but I don't understand the details and I don't want to get into it and give my opinion." When it was put to him he was offering 'cryptic words', he added: "I leave things there, it's not my problem."
pretty vague, yeah. but anyway, I'm sure jorge had a proportionate response to this
Dovizioso's comments prompted a series of irate posts from Lorenzo on Twitter, with his first reaction being "Thank you very much @AndreaDovizioso! You are a real gentleman!". In his next post, he went on to call Dovizioso "an exemplary teammate", adding: "You applaud him under the podium when he wins and then... (That's right, he does not give his opinion, it's not his problem)." After that, Lorenzo labelled Dovizioso "envious" and described him as "a world champion... in 125cc."
the podium thing really bothered him, don't you think. their ducati in-fighting follows that general pattern where dovi says something... a little shady, a little ambiguous, where his intentions aren't entirely obvious... at which point jorge goes all in at fighting back and has a go at dovi - often not as much for what dovi is actually saying, but what jorge thinks dovi is implying. which is based on his understanding of dovi, the image of dovi he's built up in his head over the years, so that he is... predisposed to think ill of the intentions of the 'intelligent' dovi who always knows exactly what he's saying
again, dovi tried to downplay the argument, while simultaneously not exhibiting much patience for jorge's stance:
After the Malaysian GP, Dovizioso was asked about Lorenzo's responses to his comments, and the Italian accused his teammate of reading too much into headlines. He said: “Why should I talk to Lorenzo? I do not waste time on these things. He makes the usual mistake of giving too much importance to what is written, even without the context. "I have not pointed my finger at anyone and I have no problem with Jorge."
if I were ducati, I probably would've let the whole thing blow over given jorge was off soon anyway. but they decided the whole thing was so bad they had to organise a peace summit
Asked about the situation, Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti admitted to Motorsport.com that the Bologna marque has already planned to sit its two riders on Tuesday in Milan to make it clear what its priorities are. Ciabatti said: “It is clear that the interests of Ducati come before personal problems between riders. On Tuesday we will be together in Milan, for the EICMA [motorcycle show] and we have in mind to spend half an hour to sit and talk to Jorge and Andrea. "We want to avoid similar things to what happened last weekend. "I understand that these kinds of situations can happen. Sometimes riders get nervous during a Grand Prix weekend and on a rainy day, with tricky conditions, sometimes they say things they shouldn’t have said."
god knows how that turned out
(10) wow, you guys aren't gonna let this go, huh
late 2020 and jorge's career is already over, while dovi's looks like it will be... paused, at the very least. which is always a good time to check in with riders on how they feel about their rivals - if they're still being nasty you know that shit was personal. from december:
some quality petty material here. "I can't understand his somewhat peculiar mind" vs "he was envious of me since 250cc, but I wanted to give our relationship a chance". note too jorge talking again about how generous he had been in the face of dovi's 2017 successes, and how he feels like this was not reciprocated at all. jorge's complaints don't stop there:
merry christmas!
not the only rider jorge has beefed with post-retirement, but compare and contrast with how he really hasn't been doing any of that with some of his biggest career rivals. valentino, marc, dani - sure, he still talks about the controversies he's had with them pretty regularly (to put it lightly), and he's hardly free of complaints... but mostly it's a distinctly nostalgic tone he's adopting with these guys. admittedly, it helps that none of those three have gone out of their way to say anything particularly inflammatory about jorge. still, the absolute lack of any sort of rapprochement with dovi of all people is pretty funny
bonus: that time when jorge skittled all of marc's rivals
you know how in catalunya 2019, jorge took out like? all of marc's major rivals in that era including himself in one go? with half a decade of hindsight, this was kind of hilarious, and it did also feature jorge having to eat a hell of a lot of humble pie and go to the three other blokes to apologise. anyway I have a lovingly assembled set of screenshots of all three of them emoting in their boxes after the incident, all suffering some form of an existential crisis. here is dovi contemplating the bleak realities of our brief lives on this planet:
truly one of the world's least enthusiastic waves
bonus 2: another one for old time's sake
already posted this elsewhere, but this from late 2023 made me laugh
"jorge came to ducati and thought he was going to beat everything, but in the end he didn't" uh huh
#also thank you!! that's really nice#valentino is absolutely SHAMELESS in that clip i'm crying... saw some low hanging fruit and took a chainsaw to the entire tree#laughs a bit TOO much at that dovi line. a little restraint I beg#andrea dovizioso#brr brr#//#ad4#morale tag#batsplat responds#very lazy post sorry but i just wanted to do something fast... i do think they're more interesting than just a list of drama#real lack of mutual respect... how little they get each other... also jorge's side of that 250cc rivalry is sooooo...#currently still cooking up that jorge/valentino post which means i'm obviously revisiting my jorge primary sources#and the way valentino and dovi get described in particular is... hm how to describe this... this isn't just a sports thing but -#- especially in sports and especially at juniors level you come across a lot of people who act like they're constantly on camera#jorge at that age has extreme sports film syndrome. his entire team also has sports film syndrome. the author has sports film syndrome#they're constantly trying to write character arcs for him. 'like a superhero after his darkest hour' that kinda thing#and that also means other riders sometimes get this treatment where you're a bit? this doesn't feel... completely in touch with reality#dovi's The First Rival who's there to help jorge grow... it's quite tricky to explain because you can't point to anything SPECIFIC#it's just tones and vibes really lmao#anyway my point is I do have Takes on this dynamic but for now. here is just a random assortment of stuff with a lil bit of context#I do love it when you have a kind of primary text for these riders. they're all COMPLETELY different#all with quite funny editorial choices that sometimes tell you as much about the blokes as the actual text itself#fwiw the jorge one was the one where i had the most moments of 'hm i'm not sure it happened quite like that but continue'

This post is funny is hindsight as the nightmare critters have grown on me quite a bit! My thoughts about them have changed and aren’t as negative!
My thoughts now:
- While I don’t know if it’s likely, I atleast headcanon that they were made as a jab towards the failures/controversies of the smiling critters line, with the characters having an edgy twist as a means to poke fun at catnap stuff (I assume primarily in the show due to how catnap was infamous in universe to come off as scary, even when it wasn’t intentional) to appeal to older audiences like teenagers or people who found the smiling critters stuff interesting due to the controversies and accidental scary nature of Catnap in the show (while im pretty sure that timeline doesn’t add up in universe, I also like to think that the nightmare critters are an edgy twist made to capitalize off of the popularity of the critters years later as the critters are popular in teenage and college circles after the failure of the brand)
- because of them coming off like an edgy twist to appeal to older audiences, I usually headcanon the nightmare critters as usually being older than the smiling critters, but only by maybe a year or two, as I personally hc the smiling critters as all being the same age with older/younger differences being just based on birth month)
- they technically do make sense if you are to consider a few ideas, 1. That they were supposed to be made for another advertising campaign tv show like the critters were (as I think the critters tv show was made exclusively to advertise the toys hence why it was short? Idk) or 2. maybe that they were supposed to be for a second season that was pulled due to controversy? I’m not as fond of the idea of the nightmare critters intending on being used for a season 2, but it makes sense enough to mention
- I still believe that they (mob entertainment) are definitely riding the critters popularity wave & the nightmare critters’ existence is apart of that .
- my favorites are Baba and Rabie . Here’s some an unfinished colored pencil doodle of them in the SC: Rainbow Gate style
What do you mean there’s a new critter like canonically that’s being revealed/hinted at in the new ppt teaser trailer for chapter 4 . I can’t say much on it yet nor can I do elaborate psychoanalysis like I did with all of the other teasers (although that was on a different blog) but it seems like it’s still going to be critters focused and that’s exciting to me ! I was worried that they were going to be treated as a one-off thing & chapter 4 would move on past them despite how chapter 3 only had 2 of them having important screentime while implying there were infact 8 of them that we hadn’t/wouldn’t get a chance to see , so it’s relieving to see we’re still in the smiling critters trenches

mdarc chapter 4 spoilers (tw negative)
i'm a couple of doors into the mystery labyrinth, and it's getting a little annoying having shinigami and yuma go "but how could this have happened? who could have done this?" when i literally knew it was yakou as soon as the game told me that the poison had a delay. this is so silly like "how could anyone have got past this, they would have died in thirty minutes!" ok! narrow your suspect pool to people who die in the next thirty minutes then! damn!!!
#mdarc#rain code#little ranty#also i have only just started so if [redacted] isn't the killer then so be it#but i know they are there's no way it's anyone else#vivia having that quiet (more than usual) moment when yuma said the lab is hooked up to a secondary power source that never went down#is so good#i think [redacted] required an accomplice for [last part of their plan] but from that reaction i don't think it's vivia#i think it just got more or less confirmed for him who the killer was#also viv is so interesting to me!!! i was right that he was going to be my favourite#the bold experience machine enjoyer#i find it kind of funny when halara says that he'd be a great detective if he just put in more effort#this isn't some problem of viv not reaching his goals or anything#he is very good at the things he actually likes doing and wants to do#he wants to come up with theories as to how a crime could have been committed#he doesn't particularly care about which one is right#just finding ways around logical constraints#that being said he very much understands that choosing one of those and expressing it will influence the world#which is why he doesn't tend to communicate when he's figured something out#he's more interested in observing what other people do unrestricted by his influence#this is why i think it's really sweet when he threatens to kill yuma (insane sentence)#i have such a soft spot for characters who break their own rules and principle for someone they really care about#and seeing vivia put [redacted] in front of his own happiness and ingrained way of doing things is so humanising#i don't think viv is particularly complex as a character#once you grasp that he genuinely has no regard for what's true and enjoys ambiguity you've can understand him from there#there's this one line where he says 'after all...i'm more interested in the story than the truth...'#but he is my favourite by far#i love how he's straddling the line of philosophical postmodernism and actual psychosis#he's so interesting to me#tw negative
