It had been a few weeks since the fallout between you and the Marauders, and though you’d forgiven Remus, you were still waiting on the others to grovel appropriately. Remus had apologized sincerely, and after some much-needed cuddling, you had let it slide. But the rest of the boys? Not so much.
Today, you and Remus were curled up on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, enjoying a quiet moment together when the door to the common room burst open. James, Sirius, and Peter stumbled in, laughing about some prank they'd pulled earlier in the day.
They stopped dead in their tracks when they saw you and Remus snuggled up. Their eyes narrowed suspiciously as they took in the scene.
"Everything alright between you two?" James asked, his voice laced with curiosity, while Sirius crossed his arms, clearly trying to read the room.
You raised an eyebrow at them, already irritated at the question. "Why wouldn’t it be?"
"Well, you know," Sirius drawled, glancing sideways at James, "since Remus is… Remus. And everything." He tried to sound casual, but you could tell he was fishing.
You crossed your arms, glaring at them. "Oh, now you care to talk about it?"
James blinked. "About what?"
Remus sighed beside you, knowing exactly where this was headed. The rest of the boys exchanged confused glances, still pretending they didn’t know what you were talking about.
"Don't play dumb," you said, sitting up and fixing each of them with an annoyed look. "The fact that none of you thought it necessary to tell me that Remus is a werewolf."
Sirius’s face went slack for a second before he tried to recover. "What?! Remus? A werewolf?" He threw his hands up dramatically. "I had no idea—"
Peter asked, confused, "How'd you figur-"
"Oh, please," you snapped, cutting him off. "With all those very visible scars, the four of you disappearing every full moon, and let’s not forget the howling coming from the Shrieking Shack. Do I look like an idiot to you?"
James bit back a laugh while Peter’s eyes widened in panic.
"And the final clue?" you continued, glaring at each of them. "All of you standing me up on our date the day after the full moon. Even Snape could figure it out!"
The mention of Snape's name made them all freeze. You noticed the exchange of guilty glances between them.
“Wait,” you said, gasping as realization hit. “Snape knew?”
They were all dead silent.
You turned to Remus, narrowing your eyes. "Well, congratulations, Lupin. You're officially back on the list."
Remus groaned dramatically. “Not the list.”
The other three burst into laughter, relieved to hear Remus wasn’t fully off the hook either.
"Alright," James said, stepping forward with a cheeky grin. "What’s it gonna take to get off this list?"
You smirked, finally ready to dole out some consequences. "Remus will be doing all of my assignments for the next six months. Except during the full moon, of course.”
Remus let out a breath of relief. "That's not so bad—"
You cut him off with a wicked smile. "I'm not finished. You’ll also be partnering with Lucius Malfoy in Charms class.”
Remus’s eyes widened in horror. “Nooooo! Anyone but Malfoy!”
You ignored his whining and turned to James, who was now grinning as if he’d already won your forgiveness.
"And Jamie here," you said sweetly, reaching out to pinch his cheek, "is going to switch partners with me in Defense Against the Dark Arts."
"That’s alright,” James shrugged, clearly thinking he got off easy. "I can handle that."
You smirked. “Then I’ll have Lily, and you’ll have Snape.”
James’s face fell instantly. “W-wait, hold on. You can’t—”
You cut him off with a grin. “Too late. It’s decided.”
James groaned dramatically, flopping onto the nearest couch as if the world had ended.
Next, you turned to Sirius, who was already bracing himself.
“And Sirius,” you said, drawing out his name, “you’ll be spending every evening studying with me in the library. And we both know how much you hate studying.”
Sirius groaned loudly, but you weren’t done.
"Oh, and one more thing," you added with a smirk. "No sex for one month."
His jaw dropped in horror. "NOOOOOOO!"
James burst out laughing, while Remus patted Sirius on the back sympathetically.
Finally, you turned to Peter, who looked the most nervous of them all. "Pete," you said softly, "I really didn’t want to do this, but you’re going to have to give up sweets and candies for an entire month."
Peter gasped in absolute horror, clutching the chocolate bar he was holding as if his life depended on it. You reached out, gently plucking it from his hand.
"Sorry, Pete. It’s the rules."
Peter fell to his knees, dramatically crying out, “Not my sweets! Anything but my sweets!”
You couldn’t help but chuckle at the theatrics. The boys were always a handful, but at least now they were going to work to earn their way back into your good graces.
"Don’t worry," you said with a smirk. "I’m sure you’ll all manage… eventually."
They groaned collectively, each already dreading the next few weeks.
But you had to admit, watching them squirm like this? Absolutely worth it.

James Potter was a very affectionate person, everyone knew that. His love language was absolutely physical touch — everyone knew that too. It was also assumed, therefore, that James Potter had an extensive list of kisses. That assumption wasn’t necessarily wrong, but a good chunk of them weren’t exactly what you imagined when thinking of the great James Potter kissing someone. They were often impulsive when he didn’t know how else to express his feelings. His very first kiss, for example, wasn’t exactly the cheesy, romantic soap opera that he often advertised providing for girls.
Sirius Black
The Marauders sat in their dorm room, early on in second year. While first year was packed with ridiculous adventures and the forming of their friendship group, second year brought a new awareness of girls, romance and especially kissing. That was the topic of discussion as the boys all packed into one bed, hypothesising about what it might be like. James and Sirius led the discussion with much bravado and false confidence whilst Peter looked decidedly scared. Remus, to his credit, just looked rather amused at it all.
“But where do you touch her?” James asked, eyes still wide and innocent and twelve years old, “I can’t just stand there with my hands at my sides like a twat!”
“Don’t be stupid, you hold her like this.” Sirius bent his arms in a direction that looked borderline painful. Remus huffed and climbed off the bed, pulling both the boys with him.
“If you’re gonna kiss a girl,” Remus instructed, “You have to hold her gently. Don’t push her around like she’s dead weight. James, put your arms around Sirius’ waist like that, now Sirius, you put your arms around his neck.”
“Pete’s gonna think we’re bent,” Sirius grumbled, a red hue on his cheeks.
“You are bent, you poof,” Peter quipped from his spot on the bed. He was right, of course, but that wouldn’t come to light until fourth year. James thought this was hilarious though, and began miming exaggerated — rather sloppy — kisses. And since James never failed to cure Sirius of his moods, he did the same. Remus rolled his eyes as the two boys acted out a passionate scene, loose tongues and all, until they were no longer acting.
All four boys in the dorm were frozen as James and Sirius’ mouths had accidentally connected in their stupidity, none of them sure what to do. Seconds passed as the two stood, lips locked against each other, no one daring to move. At least, until Remus let out a long, uncharacteristic wheeze, which dissolved into a fit of giggles that he would usually be mortified by, but there was no way he was outdoing the kiss anytime soon. Peter followed along momentarily, laughing so hard barely any sound actually came out, silent heaves punctuated by gasping breaths.
Released from their stupor both boys leapt apart, wiping their mouths with their forearms. Both had comical expressions of disgust, still slightly too stunned to verbalise any of it.
“We,” James heaved, “Can never speak of this again. Ever.” Sirius agreed in a heartbeat, still unable to completely wipe the blush from his pale complexion. He probably would have dwelled on those feelings if James wasn’t James, beginning to see the humour in it soon enough. By the end of the night it was an inside joke that would proceed to be referenced countless times within the walls of Hogwarts.
So although James would tell the story of his first kiss quite differently — he alleged it was with a Ravenclaw named Keeley a few weeks later, his proper first kiss will always have been with one Sirius Black in the Gryffindor dormitories on an otherwise unassuming Tuesday evening. And that secret was held onto dearly by all four marauders until, of course, Sirius’ best man speech at James’ wedding, where the anecdote received uproarious applause, loudest of all by James himself.
2. Remus Lupin
The Marauders had all known about Remus’ ‘furry little problem’ since their second year — first for the most perceptive of the bunch. Nevertheless, the group were insistent in helping Remus in any way they could, though it was a difficult task when his alter ego had no resistance to killing them. Until Sirius had come to them with the idea of becoming animagi. It was difficult no doubt, advanced magic far beyond the teaching at Hogwarts, but the four of them were exceptional wizards each in their own way, and the project seemed somewhat manageable with four brains chipping away at it over the course of two years.
When they finally did get it, hardly any of them could believe it, least of all Remus. He had never imagined that the human side of him was worthy of this much love and devotion, let alone the monster within him. However, despite how they tried to play it off, the achievement didn’t come easily to any of them. Sirius was the first to get it, big black dog accompanying the group around the castle and becoming an unexpected staple of the Gryffindor common room. You in particular liked to cuddle up with him on the couch and spoil him with head scratches when you were stressed from school — at least until the secret was revealed and you hit him upside his human head for deceiving you.
James was second to get it, though much less gracefully than Sirius. The whole group of Gryffindors had been hanging out together down by the Black Lake, enjoying the slowly warming weather after class one day. James had the misfortune of being sat between you and Lily, which made things very confusing for his hormonal body and brain. His eyes were trained on his hands, too afraid to actually talk to either of you and embarrass himself which was what usually happened. You and Lily, however, were hell bent on making that occur. While James had had a well known crush on Lily for the last few years, ever since you’d come back to school that year post-puberty you could both tell that James was both emotionally and physically confused. You both delighted in this and used it to your advantage, Lily finding him the most annoying man on earth and you delighting in his flustered expressions (secretly finding him actually pretty cute).
After thirty minutes of torture, James couldn’t take it. You’d made one too many dirty jokes directed at him and he was a blushing mess, fidgeting awkwardly between you and Lily laughing gleefully. He excused himself quickly and uncharacteristically quietly, hurrying off to be out of sight of his friends. You all laughed as you watched him go, and Remus reluctantly stood, muttering something about making sure James didn’t drive himself crazy.
Remus headed straight to the Forbidden Forest, knowing the privacy would be what James desired in the moment. Sure enough there he was, taking a moment to breathe against a tree.
“Easy there, Potter, don’t cum in your pants,” He joked, obviously amused by the whole ordeal. James turned quickly, devastated at Remus seeing him so sexually frustrated.
“Sod off, Lupin. It’s not my fault! They both just sit there looking so fucking good, talking about all these unholy things and you expect me to just be fine with it? It’s so—” Instead of the exasperated groan Remus expected, he was met with a stag standing tall in front of him. He couldn’t help his mouth dropping open, the animal far more magnificent than he could have expected out of the fourteen year old boy.
In a weird shift of figure the deer was back to boy, and James only had a moment of shocked stillness before he was whooping and yelling in the grass. Remus joined him, the two of them yelling and dancing around like idiots in their joy. James pulled him in for a hug, appropriately masculine until he pressed a kiss onto Remus’ lips, still grinning ecstatically as they pulled away. Remus scowled in a way he hoped was convincing.
“I hate it when you do that, Potter,” He grumbled as the two of them returned to their friends.
“Yeah, right,” James laughed, pushing his glasses up his nose. “It’s a blessing to be kissed by my sexy arse.”
3. Peter Pettigrew
While all four of the Marauders were undoubtedly exceptional wizards, that didn’t always translate into their grades. For example, being so ahead in the curriculum made James Potter get lazy, often submitting subpar essays simply because he figured it was already common knowledge and he was more interested in higher level magic. He always ended up with top grades from outstanding extra credit projects, but the point still stood.
Peter was similarly a great wizard. Perhaps not so much a prodigy like James or Sirius, and didn’t dominate the class ranks like Remus, but he did well for himself and was pretty exceptional in Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. However, he was failing History of Magic. All four of them had chosen the subject for their OWLs, assuming it would be an easy O because of the ghost professor. They couldn’t be more wrong. Binns was a useless teacher and Peter especially found it difficult to teach himself the material just from the textbook, and was falling dreadfully behind, each essay earning a worse grade than the last.
James had offered to help tutor him before their exams, and the two buckled down in the library almost every day in the weeks leading up to exam season. Peter made pretty good progress, eager to catch up with his friends and prove he was on their level. Still, everyone was nervous for the test and its outcome.
When results were released, you and the Gryffindors were all together. Whilst you and the girls all got the reveal over and done with, the boys all waited with bated breaths. Most of the grades weren’t shocking — three of them knew they could easily get top grades from the little effort they put in, but they were all waiting on Peter’s History of Magic grade. The blond boy opened his paper with shaky hands, eyes scanning frantically over the information contained. Slowly he raised his head, nervous smile apparent.
“I got an A,” He said, and within an instant the boys were on top of him, congratulating him with strong hugs or by clapping him on the back. James grabbed both of his cheeks, pressing them together and pushing a kiss onto Peter’s lips.
“Prongs!” Peter moaned, pushing his face away half-heartedly.
“I’m just proud of you, Wormtail,” He cooed, appearing much like his mother whom you all adored.
“Oi, Potter,” You interrupted, waving your sheet of results around. “I got an O in Potions — where’s my kiss?” James immediately broke your eye contact, and you pretended you weren’t charmed by his embarrassed little smile. He mumbled a response that had his friends ripping him to shreds, egging him on whilst simultaneously teasing him and his alleged manhood. He pressed a gentle peck to your forehead and you raised an eyebrow.
“Not what I meant, but ok.”
4. Regulus Black
Regulus Black had a difficult relationship with the Marauders, to say the very least. By his fifth year — the rest of the boys’ sixth — Sirius had been at the Potter’s for months and Regulus was still reeling from the impact. He was noticeably quieter and more sombre than in years previous, and a dangerous resentment for his brother and his friends bubbled under his skin.
James Potter connected these dots quickly. However, he didn’t really know what to do about it. He wasn’t sorry that Sirius was living with him, but he didn’t like that Regulus was left all alone with their wicked parents, regardless of their personal differences. That brought James to you.
You sat together on the couch, his head resting next to your thighs, curls just brushing against your skin in a way that you couldn’t stop thinking about. He was lamenting about his mental struggles as you worked on your crochet, thinking quietly as he rambled on.
“Why don’t you just talk to him?” You asked suddenly, and James tilted his head to look up at you, holding back his laughter at your upside down appearance.
“What?” He asked, “I can’t talk to him, he hates me!”
“When has that ever stopped you before? Lily hates you and yet you bother her all the time,” You said, smile playing on your lips.
“That’s not true!” James protested, “I don’t bother her that much anymore!” You rolled your eyes playfully and turned back to your craft as James continued to ponder the situation.
As usual, he decided you were right. And so he sent a short letter to Regulus, asking for a meeting on the Astronomy tower at midnight. Surprisingly he’d agreed, and the two boys were standing awkwardly across each other on the tower. Regulus refused to start the conversation and so stood in silence, staring down James in an effort to scare him off. James wouldn’t be deterred.
“I just wanted to talk about what happened last year,” He said, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose nervously.
“There’s nothing to talk about.”
“C’mon. I know we’re not friends, but I also figured none of your friends are the talking type either. So, I thought you could talk to me — full confidentiality. I don’t know, blame me, yell at me, I just don’t want you to do this all by yourself.”
“How sweet, Potter,” He sneered, “But I don’t need to talk about any of my feelings.”
James Potter was nothing if not persistent.
“Ok, well if you don’t want to talk, how about you listen?” To his surprise, Regulus stayed. One perfect eyebrow raised, he slowly sat next to James, legs dangling over the edge of the tower. After a gesture for him to go on, James started. He began to talk about the process of having Sirius live with him, the feelings they both had about it, and the guilt they both felt about leaving Regulus alone. At that Regulus looked up, eyes pooling with hope.
Then without any warning, Regulus was talking more than James had ever heard before, spilling what he supposed must have been the younger boy’s darkest secrets and vulnerabilities. James was unprepared, not actually expecting him to engage. At one point James had put a comforting arm around Regulus’ shoulder, words failing to express any of the feelings he had inside. Regulus didn’t pull away as James expected, instead only starting to cry. James just watched in disbelief as Regulus cried into his chest. Awkwardly, James arranged himself to press a gentle kiss to Regulus’ forehead right as Regulus moved to look up and speak, resulting in a ridiculous kiss between the two of them.
They jumped apart in less than a second, both with horrified looks on their faces.
“Oh my God—”
“That was an accident I swear—”
“I’m really sorry—”
“I was just trying to comfort you—”
Both boys stumbled over their words as they clambered up to their feet, putting a strictly heterosexual amount of space between them.
“Um, I’m just gonna go,” Regulus settled on, backing up towards the door.
“I’m seriously sorry, Black. It’s just something I do — doesn’t usually backfire like that.” Regulus just nodded, leaving quickly.
“Potter?” He stopped halfway through the door and James looked up. “Thanks.” James didn’t get any time to reply as Regulus was long gone, leaving him to cringe on his own. Neither of them would be telling anybody about the incident. Ever.
5. Lily Evans
You and James had been doing your will-they-won’t-they thing for a long time. Not quite since you met, but once you’d both started to notice the opposite sex you’d been participating in a battle of who could resist the longest. Teasing and cajoling were staples of your relationship. Whilst it had started as a way to pass the time; James had been in love with Lily since second year and you just liked to tease, at some point the feelings crossed over into a real and dangerous territory. However, neither of you wanted to do anything in case the feelings weren’t reciprocated, and truthfully hadn’t realised the true depth of them.
You and James were the only ones not to see the obvious: the feelings were absolutely reciprocated. It was tearing your friends apart, trying to get one of you to finally confess before you finished school forever. There were bets in place, pep talks and everything else the Gryffindors could think of to finally cause the event they’d been hoping for. Eventually, Lily had had enough.
One day you were all hanging out in your dormitory, most of you doing your homework and Marlene fiddling with a record player, trying to get it to come back to life.
“So, what would you guys think if I gave James a chance?” Lily asked, too coy to be genuine, but you were caught off-guard enough that you didn’t notice. “I mean, I know I’ve said some terrible things over the years, but now that he’s backed off he’s actually a really nice guy.”
“But… James?” You asked incredulously, essay immediately forgotten.
“Yeah, why not? He’s the hottest guy in our year, and if all goes to shit it’s only a few months until we graduate and I’ll never have to see him again.”
“But it’s James!” The rest of the girls had caught on to what Lily was scheming and delighted in joining in.
“Why shouldn’t she? It’s not like you like him, right?” Mary asked, studying your expressions. You hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words. And just when they thought Lily had finally succeeded in getting the ball rolling you answered: “No, of course not. You go ahead, Lils.”
What started as a ploy to get you to admit your feelings only snowballed from there when Lily realised she couldn’t just back out now. And so she hatched a plan. Everything was going perfectly; Sirius and Remus had made sure the common room was devoid of younger students so no unhelpful rumours could be spread, and Marlene had been hanging out with you all evening to make sure you stuck to the schedule she’d devised.
With perfect precision, you and Marlene entered through the portrait just as Lily came down from the dorms.
“Hey, Potter,” She called, and James looked up curiously from his game of wizard’s chess. The redhead marched over to him, cupping both of his cheeks and kissing him strongly. Your jaw dropped open. You couldn’t believe Lily was just going for it like that, but even more you couldn’t believe the sick feeling creeping up from your stomach. You looked at Marlene, who only looked marginally less shocked. A glance around the room proved similar. Although they all knew Lily’s plan, it was two entirely different things to hear about her scheme to get the two of you together and seeing Lily Evans kissing James Potter.
“I’ve, uh, gotta go,” You mumbled, somehow finding your footing to run from the room, desperate to get anywhere where you didn’t have to see that, and the subsequent (or so you believed) union of a happy couple.
Lily pulled away from the kiss, eyes immediately trying to find you and she was puzzled when she couldn’t. A look at Marlene told her all she needed to know and her heart sank; she’d failed. James was looking a little more dazed than the head girl, and suddenly looked terribly awkward in his seat.
“Look, Lils. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t feel that way about you anymore. There’s— there’s someone else, and I, I have to go.” With that James headed up to his dormitory, and the rest of your friends stood in a thick silence for several moments.
“I think I just made everything worse,” Lily said, and then the chaos started.
“What the fuck did you think was going to happen?” Sirius asked loudly, running a stressed hand through his hair.
“I don’t know! I just figured maybe they’d have an epiphany and both realise they’d rather be kissing each other!” Lily cried, throwing herself into an armchair.
You
Lily was right, she’d unintentionally made everything worse. You were upset at what you’d seen and the story you’d attributed to it, and even more so at your terribly timed realisation of your feelings. Because of this you’d started avoiding James in an effort to get over him, which only made you more miserable that you couldn’t talk to your favourite person. James, in turn, hadn’t seen you enter the common room on the night of the kiss and so believed —and dearly hoped — that you were blissfully ignorant, and so was equally perplexed and distraught at the space between you. He’d tried to approach you about it but you evaded him or turned him away every time.
“Hey, love, can we please—”
“It’s fine, James,” You interrupted him, “It was all just a bit of fun, right? All the flirting, the being touchy. But now you’re with Lily and I’ll back off, I get it, don’t worry. I wish you two every happiness.” You tried to sound as genuine as you could while sadness bit at your heart, and left James standing astounded in the corridor. Now he knew that you’d seen the kiss the issue was obvious, but the solution remained a mystery to him.
You’d taken to Marlene to get your feelings out, and she listened patiently as you rattled off a monologue about your childish jealousy and broken heart. Luckily, she’d discussed how to handle this with Lily — who knew you wouldn’t go to her because of her alleged involvement with James, and set off (hopefully) your friend’s last attempt to get you two together. She finally shook you out of it, frustrated with the lack of action.
“They’re not together,” She said, stopping you in your tracks.
“What?”
“They’re not together,” She repeated, making intense eye contact with you. “It was all this dumb plan Lily had to get the two of you together. She thought if you saw James getting with someone else you’d finally realise your feelings for him. And you did, but you were supposed to stick around to hear Potter reject her and say that he liked someone else, you.” You were shocked into silence, what could you say to that?
“So,” You started carefully, “What do I do now?”
James was in a similar situation with the boys.
“She saw Lily kiss me and now she thinks I like Lily when I like her! Plus, she won’t even be in my presence long enough for me to explain that it’s all just this huge misunderstanding and it’s her I want to be snogging!” James lay dramatically across his bed as the boys sighed.
“Prongs, isn’t it obvious?” Sirius asked and James cocked his head to the side, looking remarkably like a confused puppy. “Do something she can’t ignore. Make a grand gesture to prove your feelings for her.” James thought about it, it made sense. If you wouldn’t hear his explanation, he’d just have to make you.
“How?”
You and James went into the following Saturday with the same goal. It was Gryffindor’s quidditch semi-final, so there was a party being held whatever the outcome. It would be the first time you’d see each other since you’d realised your mistake since training was taking up all of James’ time.
Gryffindor had won, thankfully, which had both of you in higher spirits. The party was already in full swing by the time you got there, opting for a smoke first to calm your nerves. You’d spotted James almost as soon as you entered, always the heart and soul of a party. You marched towards him with a purpose, but as soon as he set eyes on you he jumped up to stand on a table. Someone had lowered the volume of the music — not silent, but low enough so you could hear him yelling over it. He said your full name, clearly and intentionally in a way that had surrounding people look at you curiously.
“I love you,” He said suddenly. “I am in love with you, not anyone else, and whatever made you think that’s not true was just a huge misunderstanding. Because I love you so much, and all I want to do is snog you until I’m the only name you remember, baby.” You let out a short laugh at his vulgarity and the cocky smirk that accompanied it, but a cheek-splitting smile won out when you thought about the preceding words and the sincerity he’d instilled in them. Before you even knew what you were doing you were racing towards him, gratefully taking Peter’s hand to join James on the table.
You honestly couldn’t tell who had initiated the kiss, but you were suddenly so intimately joined together it was like all the air had been sucked out of your lungs, compressing your body in an effort to fuse to his. His strong arms around you couldn’t shield you from the confetti being thrown around (for the match, of course, not just your kiss), nor the catcalls of your friends. You only pulled away when you felt James’ tongue start exploring a little too far, mindful that half the people you knew were watching. You wore matching grins as you parted, foreheads still pressed together and breathing heavy.
While it might have taken four years, innumerable (accidental) kisses and one failed set-up plan to get there, you were sure in your heart that James Potter was the only boy you ever wanted to kiss. And so you did, over and over for the years to come, and you cheered and applauded enthusiastically as the seemingly never ending list of friends and family told stories of receiving a coveted James Potter kiss throughout the years, knowing you were the only one who got to be his bride.

Tumblr media
pairings: poly!marauders x reader (800 words)
warnings: should be none, just a super fluffy blurb
a/n: Thank you so much for the warm reception to my blog. As I am working on the next part of my series, please enjoy this very unserious blurb
Your first kiss with James was a complete accident. It was your first kiss with any of the boys. Sirius always looked ready to kiss you, with soft eyes and adoration. Remus had hardly broached the subject, obviously waiting for you to make the first move, but he did kiss your forehead in the late hours of the night when neither of you could sleep. James almost always seems to kiss on accident, like he doesn't even think about it. It just happens.
He bent over the back of the couch whispering sweet good mornings as quietly as James can, which is exceptionally unquiet. You turned to kiss each other’s cheeks at the same time. It was the tiniest peck but it seemed more like an electric shock, mostly made of surprise. Your fingers flew to your lips almost as if to hold the tiny, nothing kiss down so it might stick.
“Oh come on,” Sirius cried, discarding his quill in his disdain. It clattered against the small table spitting miniscule black droplets towards Remus, sitting across from him.
A ringing laugh bubbled up from your lips, fingers still tracing their edges. James looked so ready to apologize, his brown cheeks were turning a deep red. The whole thing was far too funny, far too anticlimactic, and rather dramatic at the same time.
“I could have sworn it would be me,” Sirius continued, looking absolutely dejected, “and how unromantic, James.”
James laughed, it was a nervous sound you'd hardly heard from him. “I am so sorry (y/n). Of course, I would have asked. I should have asked…” he trailed off. The whole thing was just so pitiful.
Propping yourself up on your knees you leaned over the back of the couch, hands on his shoulders, sliding to either side of his jaw. You pulled him in gently for a kiss, a better one, a real one. He eagerly followed. You sat back with a lingering taste of fresh air and mint toothpaste. The blink of an intimate moment was soon interrupted by Sirius.
“Now you’re just rubbing it in. I still think it was quite a boring first kiss.” Sirius looked at you with as much hurt as he could muster, but it was only a facade. You saw the curling edges of his lip and sneaky eyes. All that of course until he realized he roused Remus’s pity, then the puppy dog eyes truly shone through.
“You’re very romantic Sirius, darling,” Remus said, it was placating and he also knew exactly what he was doing. In the next moment, he looked at you, asking a silent and mischievous question. You nodded in response with a devilish smile matching his own.
While Sirius sulked, Remus shot up darting to your spot on the couch. His was rather different from James’s much less hesitant than you thought it would be. A bit more “romantic.” His touch to your cheek was feather light contrasting a firm hold on your waist and well, all that to say he was a very good kisser.
Sirius had slits for eyes when you finally looked back at him. “So I have never truly been loved. I understand,” he said as he started to pack away his things.
“Pads,” James laughed. “You know that’s not true.”
“No, no James. I understand how you all truly feel about me.” Sirius stood from the table, pretending to leave, but they all knew he wasn’t, not really.
“Sirius this is rather unromantic,” you said, truly facetious. You caught up to him in just a few quick steps. You wrapped a loose hand around his wrist. “Sirius,” you whispered, ready with the doe eyes he always melted for. “Can I kiss you?”
“No,” he turned his nose away from you, but you saw him sneaking a look back at you. Then he was wrapping his arms around your waist, spinning you both in a half circle, and finally, he kissed you. It was perfectly dramatic, perfectly Sirius. He tasted like sugar quills. Being completely honest it made you dizzy.
“That lads, is how you kiss a lady,” Sirius said looking exceedingly proud of himself all things considered.
You rolled her eyes, patting his arm. “The most romantic of all, love,” you said in the same tone as Remus, placating, although you'd be lying if you said it wasn’t a nice kiss.
“Okay come on you lot, I’m running out of quills because someone keeps stealing them,” Remus said with an incriminating look at James.
“I’ll buy the first round of butterbeer,” James said in apology.
As they filed through the portrait hole James hung back whispering to you. “So we can do that again, yeah?” He looked golden a shining smile adorning his face.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," you said, sliding a hand to intertwine with his. Even still, at the end of the evening, he could taste the butterbeer on your lips and you could feel the start of a happy ending.

sirius black x reader
a/n: for my lovely nini!! i hope you like it LOL sirius was always hard for me to write
wc: 1.5k
Sirius Black has everything he’s ever wanted in life.
It’s a bold statement to claim at 17, but after leaving his hellhole of a house, getting good ol’ Uncle Alphard’s inheritance of gold with enough to swim in at Gringotts if he so wishes, and having the best of mates he also has the privilege of calling his family— some may ask what’s next for him, and that’s what he’s trying to figure out too.
Everything will be easy from now on, he thinks— smoothing down his hair and spritzing some cologne while he gets ready to find another girl to get under so that his weekend will have some merit.
“Looking good, Pads,” James grins from his bed as he tosses a quaffle back and forth between him and Peter. The impish boy almost gets nailed in the face, huffing, “Who’s it this time? The girl from Ravenclaw? What’s her name again—Venetia? Violet?”
“Something like that…”
Sirius straightens out his shirt collar and flicks off a speck of imaginary lint from his shoulder—there’s physically nothing wrong with him, but something is still missing.
The door opens with a bang and you brush past him like a hurricane, the boys cheering at your arrival.
“Pretty girl, give us a twirl!” James hollers, and Remus gets up from his bed to spin you around as you giggle with your dress twirling in the wind.
“M’gonna be late because of you lot!” you grin, grabbing James’ bottle of Sleakeasy’s off his dresser and sidling up next to your best friend who’s silent as he stares at you through the mirror with amusement in his eyes.
“What?” you mumble, cheeks flushing as you lather the potion between your fingers to smooth it into your hair, “Can’t let you be the only pretty one around here, Pads.” He’s pulling on the fabric of your dress teasingly, inspecting you from head to toe, “Mhm, and who exactly are you going on a date with, lovie?”
“None of your business! Don’t want any of you boys meddling,” you say exasperatedly, elbowing him when he laughs, and Peter yells out in protest from the floor behind you. You squeeze Sirius’ shoulder, looking at the both of you in the mirror and noticing that his silvery eyes are still glued to you, cool as steel.
“Do I look bad? Borrowed it from Mary, but it doesn’t really fit me as well as it fits her, no?”
He notices the low cut of your dress and the way it frames your body just as well as he can draw it from memory—from the curve of your collarbones to the plush of your hip it certainly doesn’t leave much to his imagination, he’s just never seen you like this before. Sirius is blatantly ogling you now, and Remus throws a pillow at his head sending every perfectly combed piece of hair in different directions. He doesn’t even move to fix it, his breath growing quicker the more he takes you in.
“Lucky bloke. You’d look pretty even if you wore a sackcloth though,” he mumbles, eyes unseeing when you reach up to smooth his strands with a gentle smile. Sirius moves closer so you can reach, lips grazing against the powder blush you applied on your cheek— though if he got any closer he might’ve felt the heat reverberating from your skin. His finger plays with the tie at your bosom, almost in hesitation, or was it contemplation?
When does Sirius ever hesitate to do anything?
“This dress is just….hmmm…”
“What? Making me nervous… Is it too much?” You turn away to ask the other boys, who watch the two of you dance around each other like an old Muggle film Remus’ mum would send them to watch (Hope Lupin wants to teach these boys a thing or two about how to woo women in a respectful, romantic manner, mind you).
“A bit,” Sirius swallows, pulling at his shirt collar like it’s suddenly hard to breathe. Behind you, Peter grips at his hair almost comically while Remus throws his face into a book and sighs. James is watching through his fingers, eyes darting between the two of you two in anticipation. Groaning, you jab at his torso, taking out the rest of the air in his lungs (though he tries not to choke when he pulls you in and feels the smooth skin of your thighs as your dress rides up in the struggle).
“Shut up, you tosser! And I better not see any of you in Hogsmeade later trying to ruin my date—I actually have high hopes for this one…” you giggle, tossing your head against your best friends’ shoulder as you look at the varying faces of shock that surround you.
“Who said we were going to meddle?”
“Us?”
“We’re good boys, doll, we’d never!”
Sirius’ voice rings clearer over the rest of the Marauders as he whispers in your ear, “My girl’s looking forward to a date? Who would’ve thought….”
You spin in his arms and correct him, one arm wrapped around his neck and the other playing with a button on his shirt, “Your best girl…I’m allowed to have fun too, Pads!”
“That you are.”
He presses a kiss to your temple, inhaling the perfume you spritz on for special occasions and feeling like he’s lost you already even before you walk out the door. You send him off on dates all the time with an encouraging smile on your face. So why is it that after you leave the boys watch him flop into his bed and stare at the ceiling?
Sirius could’ve been there for hours for all he knows— ignoring the boys when they tell him they’re going to badger your date at Hosgmeade, unmoving when his date (who’s name turned out to be Vina) banged on his door for skipping out on her, he laid there, arms crossed and brooding. It’s like nothing made sense anymore.
You come tiptoeing into his room with your heels in hand a little before dinner, pulling back the curtains of his poster bed whispering, “Pads? You okay? What happened to your date?”
Sirius rolls over, looking at your wide eyes glinting in the candlelight, “What happened to yours?” he counters.
“It was okay. The boys sent a Bat-Bogey Hex to my date and snot landed in my butterbeer. He thought it was weird when I laughed.”
“M’sorry, lovie,” he sighs, grasping your hand over his duvet and playing with the rings on your fingers.
“S’okay! Don’t wanna be with someone without a sense of humor. Grown man that can’t take a prank. How awful is that?” you grin, before slapping his thigh, “Move over, I’m coming in.” There should be nothing special about the way you easily find your place against his body, molding against his form in both of your wrinkled dress clothes but Sirius can’t help nuzzling against the crown of your head, pressing a kiss to your scalp like it’s second nature.
“Why didn’t you go on your date? Heard Vina almost set the common room on fire.”
He doesn’t have an answer to that, nor the way he questions why his heart is beating faster when you draw stars along his spine.
“D’you at least have a good time today? Looking so pretty and all,” he whispers, pulling your chin up so you can look at each other eye to eye.
“Rem said you weren’t feeling well, so I had one foot out the door the entire time. Besides he was boring. Much rather spend time with you here,” you say like it’s nothing of the sort. Shiny lips press a pink kiss onto his nose. Your lipgloss smells like strawberries, leaving a mark on his aristocratic features.
“Doing nothing?”
“Mhm. Already having more fun, aren’t you?” you breathe out a laugh into his neck, unknowing of the way he looks at you like you hung the stars in the sky. He comes to the realization then that there’s no other place he’d rather be without you by his side. Nothing’s missing, or wrong with him—he has all he needs as long as you’re pressed against him like this, fingers in your hair and legs tangled under the bedspread.
“I didn’t want to go on my date because I wanted to be with you today,” he whispers into the air. You don’t freeze or jolt back like he expects you to, instead pursing your lips against his jaw.
“Yeah?”
“Is that okay?” he mutters, closing his eyes with the feeling that he’s said something awful, shoulders tensing like how they would when his mother would turn the corner.
“Why wouldn’t it be okay? Siri…” you sigh, grabbing his face to look at you and when he opens his eyes, you suddenly know.
“I don’t know how to do this,” Sirius says shakily, putting his hands over yours in case you’re an apparition or want to leave. There’s a space in his heart that’s in the shape of you, and you smile at him like he wasn’t in on the joke, pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth.
“S’okay. You have me.”
And he nods, knowing that’s all he needs.

Hey elle :)
requesting poly!marauders x reader (or any of them individually if you prefer) where they're at some sort of big event with cameras and press, and she feels a bit overwhelmed but sticking with the boys helps her relax? especially once they're inside the event and past all the craziness it's quite enjoyable
love ALL your writing! and feel free to ignore this if it isn't something you'd enjoy writing, all my love <3
hi sweets! thanks for your request - I opted to go wolfstar if that's alright? thanks for being here with me 🫶
poly!wolfstar x fem!reader modern band AU
CW: references to alcohol, weed, someone being 'good in bed'
You think it might have been the fifty-seventh time that your name was shouted that did you in. All of the noise turned into a steady hum and barely registered in your ears anymore.
You weren’t even quite sure why you were here. One minute you were playing in a garage band with your college friends in shitty pubs near campus, the next thing you knew, you were on the red carpet at the fucking Vanity Fair Oscar’s After Party.
Though you biasedly agreed that your band was indeed quite good, you weren’t so sure that it earned you, Marlene, Sirius, James, and Remus VIP invitations to such an event. You were watching the likes of Margot Robbie, Issa Rae, Paris Hilton and other A-List celebs walk past you and Jesus Fucking Christ was that a Kardashian?
“Y/N! Over here!” Another voice infiltrated your senses, and you were reminded of the many flashing lights pointing at you.
You weren’t invited to the Oscar’s and you weren’t even an actor; surely this event didn’t require your attendance?
But you couldn’t deny that James, and particularly Marlene and Sirius were thriving in their roles as rockstars. And if you were being honest, it was Sirius that made this all worth it for you.
You and Remus were more understated than the rest of the group – both here for the love of music and your friends and very little else. James being a child of two celebrities was very accustomed to events such as these, and Marlene and Sirius were both the absolute definition of rockstars; intense, bold, fun and vivacious. You knew exactly why the crowds loved them.
You couldn’t blame them either, the crowds that is; it was what drew you and Remus to Sirius as well.
He had the ability to make every person in the room feel like they had 100% of his attention and devotion; he was here for you. No doubt when it was his turn on this carpet, each photographer and journalist currently standing in front of you had felt the very same way.
Your relationship with your two bandmates wasn’t public knowledge, though it was absolutely public speculation that something was up with you three.
You’d like to blame it on Sirius; he was always the least likely to control his urges to ogle you or Remus or indulge in lingering touches whether everyone was watching or not. But you also knew it was in part Marlene and James’ fault – both of whom were very public with their relationships to the band manager Dorcas Meadows and a well-known photographer Lily Evans, respectively.
And finally, it was a little bit your own faults, refusing to speak on your relationship status when your fellow bandmates were far more open.
But you liked having these boys to yourself without having to share them with the public; there was the version of them that the public got and then there was the version of them that you got, and you didn’t want the line between those versions to blur.
The unfortunate consequence of that decision was having to do some of this on your own.
This, being shouted at to ‘look this way!’, ‘over here!’ or ‘turn around for us’, the last one making you very uncomfortable because you were quite sure none of the boys were asked to turn around for the camera’s.
The band had taken their group photos and horrifyingly, you were all asked to pose separately as well.
If you’d wanted to be photographed alone, perhaps you would have gone into this industry alone and not with the support of a group.
Stop complaining, you chided yourself, do you know how many people dream of a moment like this?
You were finally thanked for your time and effectively dismissed as – fucking hell – Ariana Grande stepped onto the carpet to take your place.
Your personal assistant - because you had things like personal assistant’s now – met you behind the curtains of the carpet to hand you a bottle of water.
“Okay, now they just want a quick shot of you all at the Glambot and then you’re free to enter the event.” She explained hastily as she took the water bottle back and put it in her purse.
“Great.” You muttered, trying to give yourself a little pep talk as you began to make your way to the line for the Glambot. Your dress felt too tight, your heels too high, and the various stage lighting too hot, but you found that your heart rate began to drop dramatically when you saw the likes of your two boyfriends and James and Marlene already in line.
Sirius and James cheered as they saw you approaching, causing the few people who weren’t already looking in their direction to turn.
You were sure your cheeks had the majority of your blood flow by now, and silently hoped that your makeup didn’t completely melt off from the heat radiating there.
“There you are gorgeous!” Sirius called over as Marlene wolf whistled at you.
“You guys are horrid, you know that?” You muttered as you stepped into line with them and James threw a protective arm over your shoulder.
Sirius laughed like a good sport, though you noticed that his eyes were far more sincere than his somewhat performative smile.
“I think we all ought to stick together, huh dollface? I’ve grown entirely too codependent on you lot to last more than five minutes out of your vicinity.” He commented, throwing a wink over at Remus who offered him a fond eyeroll in return.
But both of you heard it for what he was really trying to say in front of all the reporters; “I missed you, thank you both for doing this, I’m so happy to be here with you.”
“Yeah! What’s the fun of starting a band with your best friends when you have to do half of the fun stuff without them?!” Marlene agreed, gently nudging you with her elbow.
“My sentiments exactly.” You agreed.
By the time the group of you made it to the front of the Glambot line, Sirius and Marlene quickly stepped up to be the one’s talking to Cole Walliser and deciding on the group’s pose.
“Honestly, I know I was raised for this, but it’s like he was born for this.” James commented, leaning in to whisper to you and Remus.
“Never say that to him, his ego is already massive.” Remus responded, and though Sirius was in the middle of a sentence with Cole, his eyes darted over and he considered the three of you skeptically. He’d always said he had a sixth sense when it came to you and Remus, and it appeared he was right in that regard.
“I’m so sorry Cole, I think they’re talking smack. Oi! Are you guys taking the piss back there?” He said, throwing the three of you a cheeky smirk.
Marlene scoffed, adding “of course they are, Sirius.”
James quickly shook his head. “Nope! We were just talking about how good you look tonight, Pads, and how we can’t wait to take you back to the hotel and ravish you.”
Cole let out a hearty laugh and more camera’s flashed as the group of you chuckled.
“This is not helping with the rumours.” Remus muttered with a head shake, though his smile belittled any chagrin he may have been going for.
“Who said it was a rumour?” You joked, offering him a flirty wink.
The group of you had realized that playing into the rumours and joking about it was the best way to field questions and speculation. Somehow, it had grown to the point that there were theories that all five of you were in a polyamorous relationship.
“You guys are so funny.” Cole said, collecting himself from his laughter; you didn’t know if he truly meant that or if he was just doing his job as the lovely host, but you appreciated his encouragement, nonetheless.
The Glambot went well, you think. You hoped. You wouldn’t know until it was all over social media tomorrow so opted not to worry about it as the four of you migrated into the event space.
Tumblr media
The event didn’t turn out half bad if you were honest. You got to eat and drink and chit-chat with some of the biggest celebrities of your time, you took an astronomical number of selfies, and danced the night away with your friends and boyfriends.
But if you were being super honest - the best part of the night was getting back to the hotel with Remus and Sirius.
Sirius was catching his breath like he’d run a marathon and you were sure his cheeks hurt from smiling so damn hard all night, but he was still riding his high as he fussed around the hotel room.
Remus looked just as delighted at Sirius’ obvious joy as you did but was nearly dead on his feet, exhaustion weighing down his movements as he all but melted into a wingback chair.
“Oi! What’re you doing, gorgeous? That’s my job.” Sirius chided as he swatted at your hands which were in the process of attempting (and failing) to undo the zipper of your dress.
You didn’t put up much of a fuss as he undid your dress and gently kissed your shoulders; massaging the skin and muscles along your back that the gown had been digging into.
You stepped out of the dress and caught the tshirt Remus had tossed to you before throwing it over your form and falling backwards haphazardly onto the bed.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so tired.” You moaned, relishing in the luxurious sensation of the downy duvet enveloping you in a hug.
You heard both boys chuckle through their nose as you felt someone - Sirius - start fiddling with the buckles of your shoes where your feet hung over the edge of the bed.
Sirius pressed a kiss to your knee as he stood and disposed of your shoes near your suitcase before moving to Remus.
Remus groaned petulantly and went no bones when Sirius tried to help him up. “No.”
“Rem. Get up.” Sirius chuckled.
“Go away.”
“Moons, you cannot sleep in a chair, and you cannot sleep in a tuxedo.”
“Watch me.”
“Leave him there to die, Siri.” You commiserated from your own place of death.
“Yeah. Leave me here to die, Siri.” Remus repeated sardonically. “Take care of our sweet girl, yeah? Tell her I love her.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at that and though Remus kept up the ruse of being ‘asleep’ - you felt your heart swell at the smile that adorned his lips at the sound of your laugh.
“You wanker.” Sirius chided lovingly through his own laughter as he pecked a kiss to your boyfriend’s head and started helping him strip from his place in the chair.
You must’ve drifted off momentarily, as by the time you opened your eyes next, Sirius had just convinced Remus to stand long enough to pull a pair of pajama bottoms up his legs as Remus rubbed at his eyes like a giant overtired toddler.
“How’d you end up falling in love with two eighty-something twenty-something-year-old’s, Sirius?” You asked sleepily from your place on the bed.
Remus chuckled as he sat back down in his chair by the sliding doors, opening it up to light a joint before bed.
“I have no clue, but I’m so glad they love me back.” Sirius said as he started to change out of his own formal attire.
You could tell that the night was starting to wear on him slightly, but there were still notes of excitement and adrenaline pumping through his veins as he went about his bedtime routine.
“You’re phenomenal at this; you know that, right?” You commented, causing Sirius to pause what he was doing to look over at you, expression softening into something hopeful.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” You agreed readily. “The best, really.”
He quickly finished up what he was doing and hurried over to the bed, laying down on his stomach and propping himself up on his elbow so he could look down at you.
“Thank you baby.” He said quietly, using one of his hands to rub absentmindedly on your thigh. “I couldn’t do it without you two.”
Remus scoffed as he made his way over to the bed, having locked up the sliding door and matching Sirius’ position from your otherside.
You both loved and hated when they did this; it felt as though they were ganging up on you, exposing all your feelings and flaws. But you also felt undeniably worshiped under their loving gazes.
“I think you’d do just fine without us there, love.” Remus spoke, squeezing Sirius’ hand before resting his hand on top of your sleep shirt over your ribs, gently rubbing his thumb back and forth.
“Nope. Not a chance.” Sirius denied quickly.
“You were born for the stage, Sirius. For the flashing lights and cameras and talking.” You pressed.
“Only thing I was born to do was love the two of you.” He contended.
Remus breathed a laugh through his nose as you made a cooing sound.
“This just in,” Remus started, imitating a newscaster. “Renowned rockstar Sirius Black has gone soft.”
Sirius scoffed in faux contempt as he reached over to pinch Remus’ side.
“I am trying to thank you guys.” Sirius chided, his sarcastic smile turning soft as you and Remus relented and turned to face him. “I’m so grateful to have you guys by my side through all of this, I know it’s not really either of your things. And I know you’d both likely be just as happy if we called this all off tomorrow, but…”
He seemed to trail off as he looked over your forms towards the windows. “But….” You pressed, nudging him to continue.
“Don’t go shy on us now, Black.” Remus teased.
Sirius rolled his eyes but a smile broke out across his face. “But I’m so incredibly gone for both of you. I love you, I love this. All of it.”
“I love you too, Sirius.” You offered simply, leaning up to press a gentle kiss to his lips and ignoring the stiffness in your joints.
Remus, never one to pass up on an opportunity to take the piss, rolled his eyes as he let his elbow fall to lay flat on his back beside you.
“Yeah, yeah. I love you too, I guess. You’re just lucky you’re both so good in bed, otherwise I’d have split up the band ages ago.”
You started to cackle, overwhelmed with exhaustion, love, and probably some of the alcohol still in your system as Sirius threw himself onto Remus demanding he “take it back or so help him, God.”

Part two is found here!
Reader x Remus turned into Reader x Poly!Marauders.
Masterlist.
Tumblr media
They thought it was strange how Remus had been the first to lose his virginity out of the three of them. Both Sirius and James had girls throwing themselves after them constantly, but somehow, Remus was the first to go all the way.
You had always found them all quite attractive, but thought that Sirius and James tended to be a bit obnoxious at times. When you saw Remus studying alone in the library one day, you thought you’d go up and say hi to the tall, handsome guy. The two of you had only talked briefly before this interaction, but soon found that you enjoyed each other’s company. It didn’t take long from there for you to go on a date and soon you were a couple.
Remus, ever the gentleman, didn’t tell his friends about your first time, he thought it was best kept private between the two of you, therefore you always tried to keep it somewhat lowkey, finding time to be perfectly alone. Though any secret could not be held for long in that dorm and one evening the cat came running and screaming out of the bag. You thought you’d get to be alone with Remus, as the other two had practice. As it turned out, however, practice was canceled and the door to the dorm was thrown open just in time for the two surprised boys to see you orgasm, quivering around Remus’ cock.
It slightly ruined the mood and you struggled to cover yourself as Sirius went on a long rampage about “The betrayal! The absolute betrayal. Our baby moons got laid and didn’t tell us. Here he is, having had sex the whole time – while keeping us in the dark.” He was pacing back and forth, only half joking about his distress before deciding to be the bigger person and be happy for his friend. “Good job Moons. First one out of all of us. Amazing.” With a chef’s kiss he left the subject of betrayal and moved on to something else.
After the embarrassing moment of coming in front of your boyfriend’s friends, it didn’t take long before the question was asked.
“Hey Moony, since you already had sex, could you teach us how to do it?”
“Yeah, Moons, I wanna be ready for when Lily lets me go all the way if you catch my drift,” James agreed, with a very unnecessary wink as everyone understood exactly what he meant.
You stared, gaping. That they would ask such a question didn’t surprise you one bit. The fact that Remus seemed to be actually thinking it over did.
“I guess,” he started, patting your thigh, “you’re gonna ask her if she’s willing to teach you.”
You, teaching his friends how to have sex? The idea was preposterous. Yet… It did make you feel a certain tingle between your legs. You still found them attractive, and the thought of being the one to take their virginities? Oh, that was just beautiful. You thought it over in your head. Remus was quite dominant, not really treating you as a submissive but he liked being a bit in control, he’d never let you have all the reigns. These two however… Looking Remus straight in the eye, you searched for any form of hesitance – you didn’t find any.
“Alright then, we’re gonna have to set some rules,” you said.
It was agreed that the day after, you’d help take your boyfriend’s best friends’ virginities. You said 24 hours to give everyone a chance to back out, and told them very specifically that they would shower, properly, “none of that locker room stuff, a real shower, clean everything.” It was best to be clear when dealing with teenage boys.
A whole 24 hours later you found yourself walking up the stairs to their dorm. You knew Remus would be there, and you knew they’d given consent. You wore your school skirt, but without panties, a t-shirt with a very flattering bra and your hair out. You had to get yourself in that dominant mood, ready to boss the boys around. Since becoming Remus’ girlfriend, you had gotten to know his friends as well. You knew James would be easier to dom, and you knew Sirius would be a little brat. Therefore, you started with James. Opening the door, you could cut the tension with a knife.
The boys were so cute and nervous, standing up and waiting for you (not Remus, of course, he was comfortably splayed out on his own bed). “Jamie,” you said. “Do you still wanna do this?” He nodded. “Okay, then take your clothes off and sit down on your bed. You,” you turned to Sirius, “are gonna have to wait your turn.”
When James was naked and seated on the edge of his bed, you took a moment to appreciate his toned body. The moment didn’t last very long though as you wanted to feel him. Climbing into his lap, thighs straddling his, you took his face and held it in your hands. He was so pretty, so soft, so pliable. “Jamie, have you ever kissed a girl?” you asked him, bringing your mouth so close to his that your lips almost touched his. “No,” he said, cheeks flushing red. Holding onto his cheeks, you brought your lips against his, softly at first, then with a little more pleasure. The warm breath from his nose on your cheek sent chills down your spine. Deciding to progress, you slightly opened your mouth, letting your tongue out to lick lightly at his lips. He moaned.
You continued kissing him, making out really, until you felt he was ready to move on. Leaning back a little, you pulled your top over your head, revealing your soft tits, perfectly framed by your bra. “Go ahead, baby, you can touch.” With your permission, warm hands pressed against your back before following the lines of your body, meeting your front and lightly squeezing your tits. You allowed him to explore freely, until he pushed his head down, paused and looked up at you, eyes asking for permission. Instead of answering him verbally, you pushed your tits against his face, letting him know he could kiss and suck all he wanted. He did manage to get your bra off all on his (you were so proud of him), and as it fell to the floor, you felt his cock twitching.
You let him play some more with your boobies before taking his hand, kissing it once and telling him “Jamie, have you ever felt a girl?” When he shook his head, you kissed the top of his head and pushed his hand down, between your bodies and toward your core. “Feel that? I’m all wet, that’s all for you baby,” you cooed, watching his facial expressions in awe – he was so fascinated. “Now, do you know where your little cock is supposed to go?” Little was a big lie. His brows furrowed in concentration as he felt around for the right hole, he did find it, and pushed a finger in. “Good boy, now put your cock in.” You raised yourself, hovering above him, hand coming down to help him push his cock into your warm hole. “Oh that’s a good boy f’me,” you moaned, loving the feeling of him filling you up.
Being so focused on James had almost made you forget about your audience, looking to the side, you met Remus’ hungry eyes. You could tell he was enjoying the show, hand rubbing against the bulge in his pants. You decided not to look at Sirius, making him wait for your attention.
Grabbing James’ shoulders, you carefully tried moving, sliding yourself along his cock, making you both moan. You tried a few different movements, going up and down, back and forth. It felt really good and you enjoyed playing around with it, and it seemed as though he was enjoying it too, his head thrown back, glasses askew and mouth slightly open. Suddenly his hands squeezed hard on your hips, making you stop your movements. “Jamie, you okay?” You asked, massaging his scalp with your fingers. “Yeah,” he reassured, “yeah, just need to… I’m gonna come…”
You giggled softly, “it’s okay if you do, but first, I wanna do one more thing.” Pulling your body away from his was hard, letting his heavy cock fall out of you was even harder, and you immediately mourned the loss. Though, you knew it would be worth it. Laying down flat on your back, you beckoned for him to join you, to climb on top of you. “You should know how to fuck a girl, Jamie,” you said, helping him find his way back into you. His athletic body was made for this, for moving himself back and forth, hips pushing against yours. He didn’t go very fast, but you knew he’d be able to when he got more used to the feeling. Hiding his face against your neck, letting the vibrations of his moans shoot right through you, his hips started making the smallest, cutest, most desperate little movements. “That’s good baby, that’s a good boy, you’re doing so well, so good, making me feel so good.” You didn’t think you’d be able to come, he was a virgin, but the little thrusts pushed the head of his cock against you in a way that just felt too good to hold back.
“Jamie, baby, I’m ‘bout to come,” you moaned, kissing his head, holding him close, “you’re so go- ah-od,” your moans grew louder as you experienced a rather mild orgasm, though, an orgasm nonetheless. Your walls spasming around him made him come as well, pretty cock filling you up with his little virgin cum.
“Wow, Jamie, you did so well, I’m so proud of you,” you told him, after he had pulled out and collapsed on top of you. His head was still buried in the crook of your neck, his breathing fast and hard. “Did you enjoy it?” You asked, to which he pulled his face away, eyes wide. “Like it? That was amazing.”
You stayed like that, letting him hold onto your body for a while, not wanting to leave him without aftercare and love. Though you knew, as soon as James moved away from you, you’d have to deal with his mischievous best friend. Before you let James continue his cuddling – with Remus – you made him promise you something. “Next time love, you’re gonna let me take your cute little cock in my mouth, okay?” To this, he nodded, excitedly.
Part two.

As you sat on the edge of the bed in the dimly lit boys' dorm room, your mind replayed every interaction you’d seen tonight. The Halloween party in the Gryffindor common room had been everything it promised to be—lively, crowded, and filled with laughter. But somewhere along the way, it all became too much. Too many people, too many bright, perfect smiles.
James, Remus, and Sirius were the life of the party, drawing attention as they always did. They didn’t have to try; their laughter and charm brought everyone in. And tonight, that included a handful of girls, each one seemingly more dazzling than the last. They'd floated around your boyfriends, flashing flirtatious smiles and tossing their hair, all of them effortlessly slender and glowing with confidence. You couldn’t help but notice the differences between yourself and them.
After excusing yourself quietly, you’d slipped away to the boys' room, hoping the stillness would quiet the insecurities bubbling up in your chest. But they only grew louder in the silence.
The door opened softly, and you looked up to see James stepping in, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on you. Relief filled his gaze, followed by a flicker of concern as he took in your expression. "Hey, love. Are you alright?" he asked, closing the door behind him.
Before you could answer, Remus and Sirius entered, their eyes also searching until they found you. Sirius’s brow furrowed, and he crossed the room, sitting beside you on the bed, immediately pulling you into his side.
Remus took a seat in front of you, his hand resting gently on your knee. “We noticed you slipped out,” he murmured, his eyes soft and steady, grounding. “Is something bothering you?”
For a moment, you considered brushing it off, making some excuse about feeling tired. But their faces were open, encouraging, each of them fully focused on you. You took a shaky breath, struggling to find the right words.
“It’s nothing, really,” you began, though you knew they wouldn’t buy it. “I just… at the party, I saw how… how those girls were looking at you. They were beautiful, and…” Your voice trailed off as you shrugged, looking down. “They were all so much thinner than I am.”
A silence settled over the room, and you wondered if you’d said too much. But then James shifted closer, reaching out to take your hand, squeezing it reassuringly. “Love, I don’t know if you see yourself the way we do,” he said softly. “But you are… everything to us. And it has nothing to do with what you think you ‘should’ look like.”
Sirius tightened his arm around you, his gaze serious. “You know what, love? Every one of those girls could line up, and none of them would make us feel what you do. Not even close. And believe me, it’s not like I haven’t had options.”
Remus shot him a warning glance, but you chuckled softly despite yourself. That was Sirius—blunt and unfiltered, always saying exactly what he meant. He turned to you, his face softening, a small, reassuring smile playing on his lips. “What I mean is, you’re you. We’re lucky for it.”
Remus’s hand was still resting on your knee, his thumb brushing over it in a slow, comforting rhythm. “I know it can be easy to compare yourself to others. But you are exactly who we want—who we love.”
James nodded in agreement. “You don’t have to change a single thing. We don’t want someone else, someone who fits some silly standard.” His face softened, his hazel eyes full of warmth. “When we look at you, we see the person who makes us laugh, who knows just how to lift us up, who’s there when things get hard.”
You felt your face grow warm, and you tried to pull back, embarrassed. But Sirius held you tighter, as if he could feel the doubt still lingering. He rested his chin on top of your head, his voice a gentle murmur. “You’re ours, yeah? And we wouldn’t have it any other way. I mean, come on—have you seen Remus in the mornings? Practically a werewolf.”
Remus rolled his eyes but didn’t pull back from your gaze. “You know he’s not wrong,” he said with a small smile. “I’d be an absolute mess without you.”
James squeezed your hand, his voice a bit lower, more vulnerable. “We’d all be messes without you.”
You looked at them, each of them radiating warmth, grounding you in a way you’d never quite felt before. You still felt insecure, but the weight was lessened, slowly easing as their words settled in.
Remus leaned forward, his hand slipping into yours, and he spoke quietly, as if he were revealing a secret. “You’re not just ‘good enough,’ love. You’re our favorite. For everything you are, everything you bring to us. We’re better for it.”
James’s gaze grew more intense, and he moved even closer, his voice soft but sure. “We chose you. And we’ll choose you again and again, without hesitation.”
Sirius let out a soft sigh, pulling you even closer. “You’re stuck with us, really. And I don’t care if I have to say it every day—we want you exactly as you are.”
The air felt thick with the weight of their words, but as they held you close, the ache in your chest slowly loosened. You knew this wouldn’t be the last time you’d struggle with self-doubt. But you also knew that every time you fell, they’d be there to lift you back up.
After a moment, James nudged you with his shoulder, his usual playful smirk returning. “Alright, love, enough heavy stuff. Since you ditched us at the party, I think it’s only fair you owe us a dance.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “In here? There’s hardly any room.”
“Doesn’t matter,” Sirius said, standing up and grabbing your hand. He tugged you to your feet, pulling you into an exaggerated waltz stance as he hummed a tune. “Besides, I’m the best dancer in this room.”
Remus rolled his eyes, standing up as well. “Hardly,” he said, but he stepped closer, sliding his hand into yours as he joined in.
James grinned, joining the fray as he took your other hand, spinning you around with dramatic flair. The room filled with laughter as they spun you between them, each of them taking turns leading as they filled the small space with their presence, making it feel like the most magical place in the world.
As the laughter subsided, the four of you sank back onto the bed in a heap, their arms wrapping around you. They were still close, grounding you, making you feel more seen and loved than you ever had before. You could feel each of them, anchoring you in a way you hadn’t even realized you’d needed.
And in that moment, the insecurities that had weighed on you seemed to fade, leaving only the warmth of their love wrapped around you like a shield.
James pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead. “You’re ours, love. And that’s never going to change.”
As you lay there, wrapped in their arms, you knew you’d always have this. They’d always be there, holding you up, making sure you remembered how loved you were. And, slowly but surely, you found yourself starting to believe it.

pairing: tech x gn!reader (no y/n)
description: tech teaches you how to fix something on the marauder, and you've always admired him and his intellect.
word count: 1,819
warnings: none. tech is a sweetheart.
two fics in several days?!?! what?!? this is ANOTHER request from another lovely twitter mutual who asked for tech teaching the reader how to fix something on the marauder! i have never written for tech before but i had?? so much fun?? i loved writing his dialogue so much. i loved writing HIM. i hope you enjoy it!
disclaimer: i don't know anything about mechanics, let alone mechanics in the star wars universe. but i tried my best!
also posted this on ao3. feedback is welcomed, reblogs are appreciated.
Tumblr media
Your feet echoed as you came down the Marauder’s gangplank. Currently situated in a Tatooine landing bay, Clone Force 99 had made a quick stop between missions for repairs after being damaged in a firefight as they left nearby Christophsis. While the other members of the squad had been ordered by Hunter to gather and replenish their supplies from whatever vendors they could find, you and Tech had been ordered to stay with the ship. You, as their official GAR liaison and medic, and unofficial cheerleader, took stock of medical supplies and caught up on filling reports as Tech tinkered with the hull.
But having finished all your tasks, and the boys still weren’t back yet, you ventured out of the stuffy and slightly odorous Marauder, and out into the Tatooine sun that bathed the landing bay.
You heard the spark of a welding tool and the clattering of rummaging through the toolbox before you saw him. Rounding the corner, you found Tech with his back to you as he faced the open belly of the Marauder. His tall lean frame reached up to tighten a valve, and you watched his body strain with the movement, and you imagined his face was screwed up, an intense furrow on his brow and his jaw clenched. You felt your face heat up.
You would be lying if your heart didn’t flutter a little around Tech. There was something so endearing about his eagerness to share his knowledge, and his conviction in whatever he did. He was kind, even if he wasn’t actively trying to be. He excelled at anything he did, and most of all, he was a good brother. He cared so much about them, but in ways you had to look for. Modifying the ship so it performed the best it could, ensuring their safety when flying. Volunteering for the first watch and staying up extra late working on a project so they could get extra sleep. Researching anything they came across, so everyone was informed and no one got hurt. And more recently, enhancing Echo’s cybernetics so they were comfortable for him, and caused less strain and increased efficiency for his cerebral interface.
You knew that to Tech, these things were just things he did. But once you noticed, it wasn’t hard to see the care and love behind them.
“Hey, Tech,” you called out to him as you approached.
Tech turned around and met your gaze. He greeted you with your name.
“How’s it going?” you asked.
“Quite well. Though more systems were damaged than the initial diagnostic detected, everything is fixable. I have even increased the efficiency of the power flux stabilisers, so there is less strain on hyperdrive priming and more output for faster ignition.”
You smiled at him and moved to sit on a crate. You only partially understood what he was saying. “That’s good to hear.”
Tech nodded and resumed his work. You watched him, fascinated. His aptitude for engineering of any kind was admirable. Though you weren’t techno-illiterate – you could work a datapad and fly a ship, you knew nothing about mechanics beyond recognising the names of things. Tech always knew exactly what parts were what and how to use them, which tool to take to them. You could stitch up wounds, but this was different. He could build things – pull together seemingly complicated and unrelated components to make something tangible and operational.
“How can you remember what part is what? And how to fix it?” you asked after a stretch of silence.
Tech stopped and looked at you. “My genetic enhancements are increased intellect and aptitude for technology.”
“I know, but how do you remember it all? How do you have space for it up there?” You tapped your temple with a curious smile.
You could see gears turning in his head as his hands stilled. “I’m not sure I understand the question…I just simply do.”
Tech put down the Harris wrench in the box and met your gaze, which must’ve been furrowed pensively at his vagueness because then he picked up a calibrator and continued talking as he turned back to the ship.
“Though increased neuron capacity and information processing factor into my abilities, I still had to learn; to form a basis of knowledge that could be built upon as my understanding of concepts grew. I wasn’t born knowing the schematics of a T1 Hyperdrive and how to wire its various transmitters.”
You tittered but listened as he turned back and placed the calibrator away.
“However, we all have our aptitudes. The same way you know all the ways a body works, and how to fix them – I know all the ways machines work, and how to fix them.”
You smiled at his words. “I suppose you’re right.”
He twirled a tool between his fingers. “I often am.”
You grinned, meeting his honey-eye gaze behind his goggles. Tech’s mouth turned up at the corners slightly before turning away again, the open hull engulfing him as he rewired something. He suddenly stopped, head lifting up and turning to you with a thoughtful look.
“What?” you frowned in concern.
“Come here.”
Your frown deepened and you pushed yourself off the crate, moving closer to him. He guided you closer with a hand to the small of your back, and you brushed up against him as he maneuvered you to stand in front of him. Your face flushed and you were very glad he couldn’t see it.
“These are the wires to the power couplings that syphon power from the auxiliary engines to the main thrusters,” he told you, his gloved fingers running along the four coloured wires in front of you slowly.
You look up at him slightly confused before nodding. “Okay?”
Tech pointed and ran the tip of his finger over one of the wires. “See how one is slightly more charred than the others?”
You swallowed and nodded.
“That wire has short-circuited, causing lag when the Marauder accelerates because three wires are doing the job of four. What do you think will happen to the other wires if we don’t fix the short?”
You looked back at him, frown increasing. “I thought you knew all about this?”
Tech raised an amused brow at you. “I do. I am teaching you.”
“Oh!” Your cheeks flamed and butterflies swooped in your stomach. Embarrassed and nervous, you cleared your throat to answer his question. “Um, well I suppose if the other wires are being overworked, then they’ll short out too?”
“That is correct,” he nodded. “If wires transmit more power than their capacity, then not only can they short, but they can also degrade the ship’s performance.”
“Well, we can’t have that,” you joked lightly.
“No, we can’t. So, you’re going to help me rewire this one.”
Tech stepped away to grab a new wire from the case next to the toolbox, and your heart sped up, hands tingling with nervous energy.
“Are you sure? What if I do something wrong?”
Tech pushed his goggles up his nose. “You won’t. I’m an excellent teacher.”
And he was. He guided you through the process clearly, showing you the parts and the tools before he watched you use a micro-welder to fix the shorted wire.
“Keep it steady,” he said, placing a hand on yours, helping you move it across the ends of the wire. Your heartbeat quickened and your face heated up. His slender and dexterous hand engulfed yours, and you could feel the grooves of his white plastoid armour against your shoulder as his body brushed against you. If you leaned back, your back would meet his chest, and those dexterous hands of his might even steady you with a hold of your hips. You pushed the thoughts from your mind, doing everything you could to focus on the tool in your hand and not how close he was, and how easy it would be to get even closer.
“There,” Tech declared, removing his hand from yours. “That should do it.”
You cradled the tool to your chest, tightening your grip on it as he took a step back. You simultaneously felt cold and hot all over as you watched Tech grab his datapad, pressing a few buttons before hovering it over the length of the wire. “The diagnostic report shows that the wire is functional.”
You blinked in surprise. “I did it?”
“Of course, you did,” Tech adjusted his goggles. “With my excellent instruction and your intellect, changing a shorted wire is quite simple.”
Your chest tightened. “You think I’m smart?”
Tech paused for a moment before he started tapping the screen again. “You’re a proficient medic, that takes high levels of understanding.”
Your face stretched into a grin, warmth pooling in your stomach as your grip on the tool loosened. “You think I’m smart.”
Tech looked up at you before the corner of his mouth lifted impishly. “Well, perhaps not as smart as me.”
“I don’t think anyone is as smart as you, Tech,” you gave a lilted laugh, placing the micro-welder in the box with the other tools, feeling light inside. Tech’s smile was sort of everything…and to earn one was a privilege.
To be a witness to Tech in his most honest, comfortable form was not something experienced by many people outside of his brothers, and now, you too. You looked at him now, so engrossed in whatever the screen was telling him, and felt your heart swell and fall for him just a little more. You wanted to know why he decided to show you how to fix a shorted wire, but you didn’t want to ruin this moment by revealing feelings that may not be returned. So instead, you settled for:
“Thanks for showing me how to do that.”
His eyes slid to you before nodding and returning his gaze to the screen. “It is a useful skill to have. I’m happy to teach you whatever else you’d like to know.”
You took in a breath. Teaching you this was just another small thing to Tech, but it still showed how much he cared, just like everything else he did. “I’d like that,” you told him after a moment, your heart beating fast, even though you were sure he was just offering to be nice.
Tech’s hand stilled over his datapad before he fully looked up at you, a wrinkle in his brow that softened at your hopeful expression. Tech smiled again, his eyes shining behind those yellow-tinted goggles. And maybe it was just the Tatooine heat, but you could’ve sworn you saw the tips of his ears go pink before he adjusted his goggles and turned back to the Marauder, letting the mechanics envelop him again.
“The landing array needs recalibrating,” he said as he tugged on a part. “Shall I show you how to do that?”
You smiled at him. “Yes, please.”
thank you for reading! i have more requests to get through so i'll likely get through those in a couple of weeks!'

@summer-of-bad-batch Week 12 Alt. Prompt: Radio Silence Rating: General Audiences Word Count: 2025 Summary: After Eriadu, Echo leaves messages on Tech's comm channel, feeling like he's talking to his brother again. READ ON AO3
“Hey… Tech,” Echo said into the comm. “It’s been a few rotations since… well, you know.”
He looked around, suddenly feeling ridiculous now that his voice was coming out of him. Night had swiftly fallen, and the lights of the landing pad he currently sat on, legs dangling over the side, were all that lit it. A ship was there—one of Rex’s ships.
Echo… missed the Marauder, but he knew he could help more from here. And… after so much loss, he couldn’t… well, he couldn’t handle it at all. It was like his foundation he’d built with his new family had been ripped right out from under him, and he couldn’t stay, not without anything to stand on.
Hunter’s face had been carved with pained, but he had said he knew Echo had to do this, and also mentioned he could do more work to search for Omega, for Tantiss, than he could if they stayed together.
Wrecker had hugged him so tightly he had worried an implant was going to embed deeper into him, or the controls on his legs would shatter.
Wrecker wasn’t angry, like Hunter was to some degree. He was sad. They all were.
It was more than that though.
The massive hole in Echo’s chest that he’d worked on filling and healing with his family, now made it so any reminders of them was too much. Hunter was too much. Wrecker was too much. Because around them it was easy to see who wasn’t there.
With Rex and Howzer and the boys, there was none of that, really. Though, every time he looked at Rex he thought of Fives.
No Fives.
Now no Tech, and no… no Omega.
“I don’t know if anyone’s told you,” he went on, “but… Omega was taken. By—by Hemlock. I know that’s not what you want to hear, maybe I shouldn’t even be telling you since we failed to find Tantiss, and save Crosshair, but…
“I don’t know what to do, Tech,” he went on, voice rough, tight. Tears welled in his eyes, and he let them, let his world blur around him.
“I feel so lost,” he admitted. “I… I remember when I first saw you. You were the first person I’d seen since… Anyway, I was scared. I was, but when I saw you, seeing you knew exactly what you were doing to save me, I wasn’t scared anymore. I didn’t even know you yet, and I trusted you. You were so human, so real. It was like… It was like…” Echo found himself at a loss for words, not sure how to describe what it had felt to see a human again, to see someone saving him, not torturing him, not using him, but saving him.
“Well, imagine being afraid, more afraid than you’ve ever been, and then seeing human eyes, eyes you almost recognize. I felt… home. You did that for me, Tech. And when you unhooked me, when you carried me… I decided if I ever got through that—and of course I did because I had you—that I would carry you too.
“Maybe not in a real sense—unless it was needed—but in a sense that I’d be there for you.”
Tears fell, throat so tight he barely got his next words out: “That I’d save you.”
Silence seemed to swallow him, even amongst the night noises of the creatures in the jungle.
“And I couldn’t. I’m sorry.”
Echo switched off the comm, and placed it against his forehead, hunching in on himself, sobbing.
He didn’t know how long he was out there—maybe hours—but that was how Rex found him.
He didn’t say anything, just put a hand on his shoulder, and it was enough.
Tumblr media
“Hey, Tech,” Echo said from the cockpit of one of Rex’s ships. He wasn’t exactly flying it given the one hand situation, but he was keeping an eye on things while everyone else rested. The comm chanel was still live, but as usual there was nothing on the other end. Radio silence. Still— “Sorry it’s bee awhile,” he said. “Been pretty busy, looking for Tantiss, for Omega. I miss her.”
He sighed. “I miss you. I wish you could come home to us, you know? I knew what Plan Ninety-Nine was. Hunter had briefed me on it, but I never thought…”
His words cut off, a million thoughts clouding the space in his head. There was a fierce ache in his chest, and fear, betrayal, greater than he’d ever known, was trying to rip him apart.
He was a traitor to his friend, his family, because…
“Sometimes I hate you for it,” he finally got out, words tight, crawling out of the barbed wire in his chest, the electric frisson that had tried to keep it locked in tight.
And now that the words had been said, they hurt.
Echo nearly choked on a gasp, and he put his hand to his chest, curled in a fist. He hunched in over it, shaking, tears falling freely down his face, sobs catching in his chest, a pained growl leaving him.
“You left us,” he said. “You left us. What are we supposed to do with that? You made sure we didn’t all die, but… you didn’t put yourself into those calculations. You died. Did you even care? Did you think you mattered, or was it just us? We cared about you too, you know! We cared about— We still do.
“Omega got hurt,” he went on. “We all did. And then… well, without you… Hemlock took her. I know—I know I already told you that, but you weren’t there. You weren’t there, Tech! What am I supposed to do now? You were the first person I saw. The first person! And now…”
Echo sighed. “Whatever.” He switched off the comm.
Tumblr media
“Tech, you’re never gonna believe this,” Echo said, grinning wide, the hole in his chest smaller for once, filled in with brilliant light. He was tweaking the energy crossbow he was planning on giving to Omega as soon as he saw her. “Omega’s back. She escaped, and guess who was with her? Crosshair. I know! She really did it. She saved herself. She saved him.
“I haven’t seen her yet, but Hunter did warn me she looks a bit older. I know that when I do see her I’ll think about the time I missed with her, and I know it’ll hurt, but it’s okay because she’s back. She’s safe now.
“Crosshair’s safe now,” he added. “Heard he’s as thorny as ever.” Echo grinned thinking of it, and thinking of Crosshair’s grudging acceptance of Echo which had turned into a bond with trust, that trust stronger with all the hard edges. “But she did it, Tech. She finished your mission! I know there’s still the Empire, that Tantiss is still out there, and Hemlock is, but I just thought I’d let you know. For once in almost six months, I’m finally happy. And I think… I think you would be too.”
Tumblr media
Echo couldn’t sleep, as usual, and he was lying around in his rack, Gregor snoring beneath him.
With a deep sigh, he pulled out his comlink, dialing it to the frequency that never responded, and never would again.
“Hi, Tech. It’s me. Echo.” His words seemed too loud, and he rolled out of his rack, landing neatly on the deck.
He made his way over to the lounge that was on this massive ship, and sat back in the booth by the table. Only the ship’s hum met him now, the lights dim.
“I don’t know why I’m still doing this,” he admitted. “I know you’re… you’re gone. But I have so much to tell you, so much to say. It’s still weird not having you here. I always turn around thinking I’ll see you, I find my eyes searching every room I enter, and sometimes when I haven’t slept for days I imagine I see you out of the corner of my eye, coming to tell me some crazy fact. And I’d listen. Oh, I’d listen. What I wouldn’t give to have you telling me about some animal or language right about now. You could tell me about the history of the comlink and I’d listen. I’d listen to you talk about the galaxy, about other life-forms, about what you ate for breakfast. About everything.”
Echo had to pause, all choked up.
He didn’t know why he kept doing this to himself, kept tearing at his open wound instead of letting it heal.
But if it healed would he forget? Would he forget all the wonders that had made Tech such an amazing life-form? Would he forget his smile, his startled laugh when he actually found a joke funny, the sound of his voice, the way he spoke, his eyes? Would he forget it all?
Echo knew that wasn’t quite how it worked, and yet he kept doing this, kept letting himself bleed.
He had half a mind to let himself bleed until the Empire was nothing but dust.
“I’m sorry.”
He switched the comm off, and let the silence invade all the dark spaces in his mind, let it play with the nightmares.
Echo leaned back, looking up at the deck above him, not taking in any of the details, not even the color.
Everything was drab, and gray, and dark. Cold, and silent. So cold, like when he had been nothing but a tool for the Separatists.
Echo didn’t welcome it, but it was there. Without Tech, it crept in every day, and maybe would until Echo was gone too.
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry to tell you this,” Echo said, “but the Empire found Pabu. I wasn’t there. I’m actually on my way to pick up the others now, but I thought you should know. Phee is safe. But Omega—she gave herself up to save everyone.
“I’d be proud if… if it didn’t hurt so much. I know you’d be proud. In a way, I think she learned it from you—sacrifice. You meant so much to her, to me, to everyone. So I thought I’d let you know, we’re heading to Tantiss. We’re destroying that place, and we will not stop until Omega is free, until the clones are free. I just wish you could stand by my side after we win.
“Hell, sorry for all the bravado. I’m… scared. I could always tell you when I was afraid. I think sometimes you’d find it silly, but then you’d realize it wasn’t silly to me, that it was real. And talking to you about it—it was like you unhooking me from that machine all over again, saving me.
“I’d save you if I could. I would have. But now all I can do is save her.”
Echo swallowed hard, looking out at the blue-white of hyperspace streaking past.
“Tech… thank you.”
Echo switched the comm off, telling himself this was the last time. If he could save Omega—and he would—he’d let his wound heal. Maybe finally it could heal.
Tumblr media
Echo had abandoned his armor, his comm, feeling like he was losing part of himself for this, giving himself up to save Omega, so he never got the message that came through as he landed at Tantiss. He would know, would learn who this was, would even have help from him as he turned on the other CXs, but he never heard the high, frightened voice that said, “Echo, it’s me. It’s Tech. I don’t know how, but… I’m alive.”
And with the Marauder in ruins, no one else in Clone Force 99 heard that voice. If they had Crosshair wouldn’t have been so afraid, wouldn’t have thought Clone Force 99 had died, after all; Wrecker wouldn’t have lied, wouldn’t have pushed himself too hard; Hunter wouldn’t have been ready to give up all he was for his little girl, would have known he wasn’t alone. They would have been a family in that tense moment in the jungle, and would have known that Clone Force 99 was very. Much. Alive.

You always loved to celebrate the holidays with your friends and loved ones and knowing that this would be your first Life Day with Tech made you even more excited. You had a tendency to go a little overboard with preparations, but one of the first things Tech noticed about you was how much fun you had making plans; whether it was briefing before a mission, or even something as small as going to the best markets for supplies and rations. He began to love how much thought you’d put into everything you did.
But when you approached him about spending the holidays together, he was a little apprehensive. He and his brothers had never done anything for Life Day, it wasn't something the Kaminoans ever observed, and during the war it was the last thing on anyone’s mind, so he wasn't sure exactly what he was supposed to do. He relaxed when you had told him that you would handle everything, and eventually agreed.
The first thing you decided on was renting out a small cabin. You decided on a room with two beds, making sure there would be plenty of room for both of you to be comfortable. You hadn't been together very long, there was the occasional hug or kiss on the cheek, but you hadn't quite been able to broach the topic of cuddling with a man who was very protective over his space, so for a first Life Day, this was a better option.
The activities were next. You always loved spending the day before Life Day venturing out and looking at the decorations people had. Festive string lights, standees or statues of Wookiees in red robes, holiday candies, you loved when people went all out, and you always enjoyed being able to share that with the people you love. Even if it was cold, snow was always welcome, a gentle snowfall always made this time extra special. And then when you'd get home after seeing all the beautiful decorations, you'd always put on a holofilm to enjoy with your loved ones as a relaxing way to end the day.
You also made sure that, while it wasn't necessary, you had a gift for Tech. It was difficult to shop for him, but you knew it was worth it. The market stalls you visited didn't seem to have much that really stood out, not for Tech anyway. You wanted his gift to be special. He seemed like the type of person who, if you were to ask what to get him, he would list things he needed to make repairs to the Marauder, and while you'd happily buy them for him if that's what he truly wanted, it didn't seem like a good enough gift. He deserved something to use for himself rather than to use to work on the ship. You had soon passed by a shop with some newer devices, including a datapad that had just become commercially available. You knew Tech had always been fiddling with his, and you'd heard him complain about it more than once, so in your indecision of what to get him, you decided to at least start there. It seemed easier to buy something for the others than it was for Tech; a Loth cat stuffy for Wrecker, a new knife for Hunter, and a seemingly endless box of toothpicks for Crosshair.
But, with all of that out of the way, you could really focus on finalizing your plans for your time with Tech, and when Life Day finally rolled around, you felt completely prepared for it, and your excitement was palpable. Even Tech seemed excited, though you weren't sure how much of it was excitement rather than curiosity.
The morning of your reservation at the cabin, the others dropped you and Tech off, sending you with their best wishes and reminding you to comm them when you wanted to be picked up.
Before you left the ship, Hunter pulled you aside. "Something seems off today. It feels like a storm's coming. I hope it doesn't mess up your plans, but... just be careful, and comm us when you want us to come get you."
You tried not to take his warning to heart, you knew he was probably right, but you didn't want to think about anything getting in the way of your plans. With a quick nod and reassuring smile, you left the Marauder with Tech following behind you.
Hunter's warning was only the first of your problems. The second was the cabin itself.
It was a beautiful location, and when you opened the door, it seemed welcoming and comfortable, but perhaps a little too cozy.
Heat flooded your cheeks as you noticed the lack of a second bed, and panic began setting in at the thought of making Tech uncomfortable.
"I swear, I requested two beds! I even double checked when they confirmed it I-"
Tech shrugged. "It must have been a mistake on their part. Or perhaps, they had assumed any couple reserving a place to stay would only want one bed."
"I promise I will fix this, I'm so sorry." You couldn't begin to express your embarrassment. Tech didn't seem to notice, he just walked in and set his bags down before exploring the rest of the cabin.
He turned back to you, "I really do not mind, it is likely a busy time for them. You don't have to apologize."
He offered you a small smile before walking back toward you.
You returned the smile, but you began to feel crushed that your plans had already begun to fall apart.
Tech had never been great at recognizing your emotions, or his own for that matter, but this once he could see that you were genuinely upset. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close to his chest.
“It is okay, Mesh’la, I promise.”
You sighed against his chest and returned the hug, feeling as though your worries were melting away from you, when you suddenly remembered that you had bought a present for him.
He looked down at you when he heard you gasp, and you grinned and ran to your bag to pull out a box wrapped to near perfection in bright paper.
“What is this?” He asked when you held the box out to him.
“Your present!”
His smile faded, “Present? But I... I did not get anything for you in return.”
“That’s not important, you’re here, and that’s all I wanted. Now open it!” Your last statement, as demanding as it sounded, pulled his smile back as he meticulously fiddled with the paper, trying not to tear it.
You watched on in amusement, incredibly aware that this was likely the first Life Day present he’d ever received, just by the way he was pulling at the paper. When he finally freed the box from its wrapping, he opened it and peered inside briefly before pulling the datapad out.
“Well...?” You asked. “Is it okay?”
He examined the datapad closely, his expression unreadable. You could feel your anxiety slowly starting to return when he finally spoke.
“It will need to be re-programmed to be compatible with my equipment and the Marauder, however, this is a wonderful present. Re-programming it will be no trouble at all.”
You breathed out a sigh, “I’m glad. You’re remarkably difficult to shop for, I hope you know that.”
He smiled slightly, “You did not need to get me anything at all, just to spend this time with you is satisfactory. May I ask what else you have planned?”
“Well, one thing that I always liked to do with my family was to go out and look at the decorations, so maybe while the weather is still nice, we could--” You cut yourself off as you turned toward the window. You could hardly see to the end of the lane through all the snow, whatever it was like when you arrived only a short time ago had done a complete 180. The winds had nearly blown over the trees outside, and the sky seemed to have turned completely white with snow.
“I suppose this means we will stay indoors.” Tech suggested.
The disappointment you had felt when you arrived crept back into your chest. Nearly everything you had planned fell apart. Hunter had warned you that a storm was coming, but you tried not to believe him. You felt Tech’s arm drape around your shoulders, and you leaned into him.
“I’m sorry...” You mumbled, still looking out the window.
“You needn’t apologize, nothing that has happened has been your fault.”
You didn’t say anything back, instead you began to walk away, not wanting to look at the blizzard outside, and not wanting to wait around to see if Tech was disappointed. Before you could leave the room, you felt him grab your hand.
“Wait, please don’t go.”
“I just... I wanted this to be perfect, and now almost everything I planned has fallen through.” You looked down, disappointed. “I’ll just comm Hunter and ask him to pick us up.”
Tech pulled you toward him once more with your back against his chest, resting his head atop yours. “We do not need to leave yet. I am not the best person to speak on this matter, but not every single one of our plans needs to be perfect. You put the effort into making this a good experience, and I for one am just happy to be spending the time with you.” When you didn’t answer him, he turned you to face him, and he gently kissed your forehead. “I assure you; I am perfectly content to just be here right now.”
“Thank you, Tech...” You finally replied. “I’m sorry for getting upset.”
“You have nothing to apologize for” He reminded you once more. “Now, seeing as how we are snowed into this cabin, perhaps we can find a holofilm to watch and we can just relax for now.”
You nodded and nestled into his chest. “That sounds wonderful.”
Tech picked up the datapad he had just received and began finding something to watch as you made yourself comfortable on the bed, still making sure that there would be plenty of room between you. When he finally joined you, he looked at you expectantly, then lifted his arm as an invitation for you to come closer to him.
“Are you sure?” You asked, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.
“Just come here.” He answered with a smile.
You scooted over to him and leaned into his chest, feeling his arm drape over your shoulders again. His warmth and the steadiness of his breath instantly comforted you. The film played, projected at the end of the bed, and before you knew it, you felt yourself drifting off to sleep.
The next morning, you opened your eyes, not even aware you had fallen asleep.
“Happy Life Day.” You heard from beside you. Tech’s goggles were off, and his tone sounded as though he had just woken up as well. His arms were still around you and he kissed you on the forehead again. When you tried to get up, his arms tightened around you.
“Let’s just lie in for a little longer. Perhaps it’s strange, but I am quite comfortable.”
While your trip had started out a little rockier than you anticipated, it had ended perfectly. Without asking, Tech had become almost a beacon of comfort to you, and all you could think about was how much you were looking forward to spending future holidays with him – only this time ensuring you had back-up plans.

His Equal
Everyone wondered why Lord Ayato, commissioner, head of the Kamisato clan, wielder of a hydro vision, would marry someone like you. You came from afar, had no vision, and wielded no weapon. Most assumed that was exactly why Ayato married you, a perfect housewife who could support the family. Yet four years into your marriage and no children resulted. You also continued to operate your import and export business, often travelling to other nations to procure and sell goods.
You paid no attention to the whispers. Such worries were already addressed between you and Ayato. You did not mind being without a vision. It was of no use in your career, and you were never trained with any weapon so it made no sense for you to suddenly be able to wield one. Ayato, though, mentioned you to be more dangerous with a contract than he could ever be with his sword to anyone who commented.
Such worries were beyond you on a night like this. You had no business matters to attend to. Ayaka and Thoma were out handling matters related to the Kamisato estate, and Ayato was out on a mission. You were not too worried about him as he mentioned this mission to be easy with a promise to return early. Even most of the staff had taken the night off, leaving you with the tranquility that comes from reading a book in an empty house. Having a place to create your personal library was certainly a huge perk to being married to Ayato.
Yet unbeknownst to you, a band of marauders were making their way towards the Kamisato estate, their walk steeped with one intention-- revenge. The marauder leader, Hiro, operated with vindication on his lips. Vindication for his older brother. They were raised together and taught the ways of their trade. They worked together, plotted together, stole together. But Hiro’s brother got tricked, led, and ambushed by none other than Ayato Kamisato. In his clutches, Hiro’s brother died when the group got attacked by a bunch of treasure hoarders, and in that night Hiro lost all he held dear. Now, he was out to return the favour to Ayato.
The Kamisato lord was currently hiding near a mountain pass, awaiting a tip that would never spruce up, while Hiro’s group made a move towards the estate. Yet Ayato was a man with a thousand eyes and one pair noticed the group. Lips moved and soon a staff member burst into your library, panting that word had come about a band of marauders making head for the estate. The noise drew the remaining staff into the library and soon chaos set in as voices urged and begged the Lady of the Kamisato estate to make a run for it.
But the Lady merely smiled and asked the messenger to repeat the news.
“How long do you think we have?”
“Half an hour at most, my lady. Lord Kamisato has already been informed but he’s too far to reach us in time. If we take the horses, we can possibly just loose them”.
You knew there were hardly enough horses for everyone, which meant they only meant for you to escape. Standing up, you gazed at the small group and cleared your throat.
“I will hitch the horses to a wagon to take those who wish to escape away. Those who wish to remain with me, step to one side”.
The group became silent upon hearing your words, but quickly returned to a fervour of protests to disregard them and value your life. You reached out an open palm towards the group.
“Please trust me”.
There was a history behind those words. Although you had been married to Ayato for four years, your career and different culture kept you distant from engaging with most of the Kamisato staff. The small group that remained with you tonight were the only staff members whose trust you gained. Which was why your three words eased their worries and they looked at you in silence acceptance. They knew what those words meant.
As you started to issue out orders and prepare for the marauders, warning winds reached Ayato whose blood ran cold on hearing the news. He did not know who was attacking you. He did not know Ayaka and Thoma were out. He did not know that most of the staff were gone. He did not know you were alone, defending the front lines with only six staff members against an army. For the second time in his life he was in the dark and all he could remember was the tragic result of the first. He would never reach you in time and all he, Lord Kamisato, Yashiro Commissioner, wielder of the hydro vision and sword, could do was hope. Hope and run.
The man that stood in front of you was very tall, strong, and young. Very young. Clad in your finest traditional gown and jewels, you gave a big smile as if you were greeting a relative and bowed.
“Welcome home brother!”
Hiro looked at you, confused. He had approached the estate, but before he could break the door down, it opened and this women appeared before him. Taking her appearance as a sign that she was the Lady Kamisato, Hiro raised his sword and yelled profanities, swearing he was here to take the woman’s life.
The woman only nodded and smiled again. “Yes, brother I understand. But first, my dear brother, as your older sister, you must let me oblige customs and feed you”.
Hiro stared at the woman utterly bewildered. Before he could do anything, the woman performed a welcoming ceremony and sprinkled water on his face. A scent of roses filled the air and the woman stepped back and gestured for Hiro and his men to enter the house. Hiro stared at her suspiciously. No doubt there were hidden attackers or some other trap awaiting him. The woman looked at him questioningly.
“Please enter brother. There is only me and six staff members in the house”.
Hiro didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t just leave. He would lose face with his men and would no doubt be captured. He figured he might as well enter and see what this woman wanted. Besides, once inside, he and his men would have no trouble killing her, and really that was all that mattered, even at the cost of his life. So Hiro entered the house.
A delicious aroma wafted through the house and Hiro recalled that he had not had a proper meal in a long time. The woman beckoned Hiro towards another room.
“Before you eat, brother, you and your men must wash their face and hands”.
Hiro saw a servant appear with enough towels and soap for all the men. Everyone looked at Hiro who could only nod and oblige the woman’s orders. Once washed, Hiro stepped out and saw the woman once more. In her hands was a plate.
“Before you eat, you must first feed the dogs and cats, brother. They missed you immensely”.
Wordlessly, Hiro took the plates and followed the woman to another room. Two dogs and two cats awaited him patiently as he placed the plates of food down. As the animals ate, the woman approached Hiro and asked which he prefers, cats or dogs?
“Cats,” Hiro murmured.
The woman beamed. “Just like your older sister!”
She beckoned him to follow her and took him towards the dinning area. On one side, seated, were all his men. On the other side were the six staff members. Taking his place, Hiro watched as the woman served each person in the room. She served from the same vessels for both sides.
“Wait dear brother, watch my staff before eating. You will see there is nothing in the food”.
Indeed there was nothing in the food as the staff happily ate the food. Hiro gave into his hunger too and saw how happy his own group was. They too had gone long without food. Guilt flashed through Hiro’s mind as he realized how far he pushed his group for his older brother. They understood his sorrow and supported him, but, he realized as he ate, the body does tire so. The woman was very attentive to everyone, continuously refilling each plate until Hiro pushed his plate away and shook his head, belly full.
After washing his hands, Hiro noticed that only the woman remained. She had a key in his hands.
“You have fulfilled my wish brother, and now I must fulfill yours”.
She took him into a room. Resting along one wall was a cupboard. The woman unlocked the cupboard and backed away. Inside, Hiro could see a number of jewels, gold, silver, and mora. He turned to the woman shocked. She was kneeling on the floor and looked up at him.
“And now brother,” she whispered calmly, “you must kill me”.
Hiro flinched.
“You may take my wealth and my life, but brother, I beg you, please run away after killing me. I will not be able to protect you from my Lord’s anger when he sees my blood”.
She then bent her head and waited for Hiro to strike. It occurred to Hiro just then that the woman did not once try to remove Hiro’s sword. She left him and his group armed. She did not drug them. She gave him all her wealth. She did not threaten them, but implored him to escape before the Kamisato Lord appeared. She, she, she really was his older sister.
“So, I am safe from your lord as long as you are alive?” Hiro questioned. “Then how can I possibly kill you dear sister?”
The woman raised her head and stared right at Hiro. Hiro smiled.
“But I can’t go out there and face the world empty handed sister. I came here to fulfill a promise”.
Now the woman smiled and slowly pulled a paper from her clothes.
“Shall we make a new promise?”
...
A swarm of armed soldiers made their way to the Kamisato estate. At the front were Thoma, Ayaka, and Ayato. No one spoke, but everyone feared the worst, a repetition that would mark the Kamisato head as the most unfortunate citizen of Inazuma. The estate was calm and the lights were on in some rooms. Ayato felt paralyzed. Had she? No, he dare not bring his mind to that, not that. Someone noticed that the marauders’ horses were still about. Now angry flashed through Ayato. No doubt, they became careless of time in their greed!
“Lord Kamisato,” Thoma’s voice whispered, his face pale. “The horses are all still here”. Now Ayato felt his world beginning to unravel. Then, that can only mean she’s still in the house. He wanted to run in, tear through everything until he could find you, find whoever intruded into his home, his solace, his love and run them through. Just as the thought ran through him, Ayato realized everyone was looking at him, awaiting his orders. He stood straight, and spoke only when he could feel the night’s cool breeze once more.
“Surround the house. No one should be able to enter or escape without notice”.
Stationed near the front of the estate, Ayato was about to give the orders to infiltrate, when movement near the side caught his eyes. Thoma approached with his polearm out and quickly brought it back. A man, Ayato recognized emerged and quickly approached the Kamisato Lord.
“She’s safe my Lord”.
Ayato wanted to collapse with those words, but he nodded instead.
“She will step out soon. Please follow her with Lady Ayaka and Thoma. All will be made clear soon”.
Just as the man said those words, the front door opened and there stood in all her resplendence was Ayato’s pride.
...
Hiro gave you one last tight hug and left the estate with his group. A hundred tears and a thousand words had been shared over this new contract, but the end result was a night of no bloodshed and a new ally. Your ally.
You turned towards your husband who sat at his desk. Although he wore a soft, tired, expression on his face, you knew he was still having trouble digesting what occurred tonight. The set up. The threat. The way you handled it. The concern you placed on the staff, giving them time to escape to the stables, a hitched wagon ready should things not go according to your plan. Ayato shuddered. He was so so close to losing you. A shadow fell over him and he looked up to see you with a smug, waiting, expression on your face.
“Didn’t I say you were deadly with a contract?”
“You did,” you quipped, eyes narrowing in pleasure.
Ayato reached out and pulled you into his lap, bringing you closer until his head rested on your chest. You were still dressed finely and your expression was one, that on any day would have piqued his curiosity on what exploit you conquered. But tonight, tonight, all Ayato sought was your heartbeat. You moved a hand through his hair, letting the silence take its toll on the Kamisato head.
“Weren’t you scared,” Ayato whispers, hands tightening around your waist.
“Yes, I couldn’t guarantee anything”.
“So how did you pull it off,” Ayato asked lifting his head to look into your eyes. They lost their playfulness, but what remained behind were the solid calm eyes that looked straight through things and took life head on.
“My pride outweighed my fear. Diluc and I have a wager on who can ship products faster to each other’s nations. I have a shipment ready to depart for tomorrow that would have let me beat his record and I wasn’t about to be stopped my own possible death”.
Ayato burst out laughing. Archons he loved you.

Wolfstar x Reader Oneshot - Extreme Truth or Dare
Requested?: No
Prompt: None
Type of oneshot: Fluff
Timing: Marauders’ Era (7th Year)/Golden Trio Era (OOTP)
Reader's Relations: None
Reader’s House: Gryffindor
Warnings: It gets a bit steamy, but it’s not fully written smut
Other notes: Also, the first bit takes place in February of 7th Year, for plot reasons. Also in this Sirius doesn’t die
-------------------------------
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m not a child.”
“Neither are we. It’s just a game, (Y/n), why won’t you play with us?”
I rolled my eyes and closed the book I was reading, “Let me rephrase that sentence. I do not act like a child. Truth or Dare is a game that first and second years play not seventh years. You boys need to grow up!”
“But it’s fun!” James protested, leaning over the back of the sofa I was sitting on to whisper in my ear, “Plus you might get a chance to confess your crush.”
“Shut it you git!” I retorted, throwing a nearby cushion at his head. How he knew I had a crush on one of his best friends, I had no idea, “If you boys promise to behave, and by that, I mean no inappropriate questions, I’ll play.”
“Awesome! Best person ever!” Sirius shouted, running over and hugging me, “You’re my favourite person, (Y/n)!”
“T-thank you,” I replied, feeling my face heat up.
“Right! I’ll go first, (Y/n), truth or dare?”
I rolled my eyes sighing, “Dare. I am not giving you a chance to ask me that question I know you want to ask me.”
“Fine, be like that, but I dare you to sit on Padfoot’s lap for the rest of the game,” James responded, smirking. I felt my face heat up as I turned to Sirius, “I-is that okay with you?” Sirius nodded turning away from me and I walked over to him sitting down on his lap, shifting a bit.
“Stop that, (Y/n).”
“I’m trying to get comfortable! It’s not my fault you’re an uncomfortable chair.”
“I’m sure there’s one part of him you’d love to sit on though, right, (Y/n)?” James asked, wiggling his eyebrows. My face went bright red, knowing exactly what he was hinting at and threw another red and yellow cushion at him, “Shut up! So my turn now… Remus, truth or dare?”
He thought for a moment before speaking, “Dare.”
This put a smirk on my face, “Next time you see Jen, ask her out. I know you like her.” Remus’ face turned red and I chuckled, “And I’m right.” Before Remus had a chance to recover, the portrait hole opened and in came Lily, Jen following behind her, the two of them holding a couple of pieces of parchment each. The smirk on my face grew and I turned to them, “Jen! Come over here for a minute please!”
The Hufflepuff turned to face me and placed her books down on a nearby table before walking over, “Yeah?” I just looked at Remus and nodded, causing him to get fidgety, “Do I have to do this in the middle of the common room?”
I nodded, “Gotta make sure you do it, Rem.”
He sighed and stood up, “Fine, but I’ll get you back for this. Jen, listen, whatever you say, I won’t be upset or annoyed, but I really like you, and I was wondering if you’d like to go on a date?” I could see his face was bright red as Jen stared at him, blinking, “Oh. I actually had no idea. I’m sorry, Remus but-”
“JEN!”
Before we knew it, Charlotte had ran up and hugged Jen from behind, “You didn’t tell me you were coming.”
“I was dragged, Lottie. Would you mind giving me my personal space for a few minutes?”
Charlotte nodded and unwrapped her arms from Jen’s waist, “Yeah! I’ll be up in my dorm, you better come and talk once you’re done with whatever it is you’re doing with these guys,” she spoke, quickly pecking Jen on the cheek before running back upstairs to her dorm room.
“As I was saying, I’m sorry, Remus, but I’m already taken.”
I could almost see Remus’ heart break at hearing that, but he did his best to compose himself, “Oh, right. That’s okay. Sorry to bother you, I just thought I’d tell you.”
I knew Jen didn’t want to hurt his feelings and I could tell she felt bad as she turned and walked up the stairs to the girls’ dorms, I started to feel bad too as I’d been the one to dare Remus to confess, but before anyone else could say anything, Remus had turned to me, “How could you?! Are you trying to embarrass me?!”
“Remus, I didn’t know she was dating someone. Seriously. I had no idea!” I shouted, standing up from Sirius’ lap to face him.
“You still dared me to tell her I liked her! This is your fault, (Y/n)! I HATE YOU!”
I gasped at his outburst, feeling tears come to my eyes due to my crush on him. Thankfully, James didn’t know that as he’d be teasing me about liking both him and Sirius if he knew. Remus walked closer to me, anger in his eyes, but before he could get too close, Sirius stood up and stood in front of me, “Moony, stay away from my girlfriend!” he shouted, blocking me from Remus.
“Sirius. Move.”
“No. I won’t let you hurt her! None of us knew Jen was dating Charlotte, if we did we would have told (Y/n) to change the dare! None of us would purposely do anything to make you upset, don’t you know that?! We’re the ones that became animagi to help you! We’d sacrifice anything for you, Moony!”
At this, Remus took a step back, “I-I’m sorry, (Y/n). I have to reason to be mad at you if you say you didn’t know, then I believe you.”
I smiled, “It’s okay Remus. Now, back to the topic at hand, Sirius, did you call me your girlfriend?”
Sirius’ face turned red and he started stuttering, “Um.. well, I-... yes. I’m sorry, I like you, but I know you like-” I shut him up by leaning up and kissing him, surprising him.
“You.”
“M-me?! But I thought you like M-”
“It’s always been you, Sirius,” I replied, quickly, trying to make him shut up, knowing that James had probably told him I liked Remus, “Okay! Back to the game,” I continued, as Sirius sat back down on the sofa, pulling me back on his lap, “Now you’ve got to stay there.” I blinked a few times and nodded, still slightly confused at what he meant, but Remus brought me back to reality, “Sirius, truth or dare?”
“Um, Dare.”
“Okay… Kiss (Y/n).”
I could see there was something inside Remus that didn’t want him to dare Sirius to kiss me, but I put it down to him still being slightly mad at me. I could feel Sirius shifting under me and he sat up properly, me still on his lap as he leaned over my shoulder, “(Y/n), you’re going to have to help me, here.” I giggled, thinking of something and turned around, straddling him and allowing him to kiss me as he placed his hands on my hips, keeping me where I was, slightly pressing me down, before giving me a pleading look, and that’s when I realised the second meaning to his statement of me needing to help him.
“Alright! I said kiss not make out! You don’t need to show off that you have a girlfriend, Sirius.”
I giggled at Remus’ attitude, knowing he was annoyed at being the only single one out of him and his friends as James had finally succeeded in getting Lily to go on a date with him and broke off from Sirius, “Actually, I’m getting tired, I’m going to head to bed.”
“(Y/n)! Don’t leave me,” Sirius pleaded and I leaned into his ear, “Then state that you want to cuddle with me and pull me up to your dorm, and I’ll help you with your… issue.” His face lit up and he nodded, as I leaned back.
“(Y/n), I want to cuddle. You know, like in a fluffy way. Come sleep with me!”
I giggled and nodded, “If you say so, Sirius.” before standing up, Sirius did the same as he quickly pulled me up to the dorm he shared with James and Remus, and I was soon pushed down on his bed, with Sirius nipping at my neck.
“(Y/n), are you sure this is okay? I don’t want to fuck up our relationship on the first day of us being together.”
“Merlin yes. Honestly, I’ve fantasised about you fucking me, Sirius. You’re so hot, and I understand why girls are always hanging off you.”
“Good,” he muttered before kissing me again.
----------------------------(No more steamy stuff)
“I’m sorry. We’re moving to France, Sirius. There’s nothing I can do about it. My parents are forcing me and they don’t care about the face that we’re dating, they’re forcing me to stop contacting you, and won’t even tell me where, so it’s not like I can tell you the address of our new house and then have you write to me first. Also, they’re taking Snowy away from me, well, in the sense that she’s not allowed in my room anymore, and only they have the key to her cage so I can’t write to you, and you know I’m not good with the muggle postal syste-”
“(Y/n), shh. You’re ranting.”
“Sorry. I just do that when I’m nervous or upset. I know my parents never approved of you but I would have thought they could have put their hatred for you aside for my happiness, but I guess not. Normally in this situation, I’d say I’ll keep in touch, but I can’t. Please don’t forget me.”
“I won’t. I love you so much, (Y/n). I will never forget you.”
--------------------------
A few years later, I had been sitting in the living room, reading a book when my mother came in, a letter in her hands, “(Y/n). You have muggle post.”
“Thank you,” I replied as she handed it to me. I smiled, recognising the handwriting on the envelope, how Remus knew our new address, I had no idea, but due to the fact that my parents had been friends with the Potters, I guessed she’d told them, who had then told James who had told Remus, but I put the thoughts to the back of my head and opened the letter;
“Dear (Y/n),
I never thought I’d be writing this letter, didn’t think I’d ever have to, but, James and Lily’s position was given away to Voldemort and they’re both dead. Harry managed to survive, somehow, but it’s worse because Sirius is the one who’s been blamed for it. He caused an explosion killing a load of muggles as well as Peter. All that was left of him was a finger. Sirius has now been locked up in Azkaban, and we’re having a funeral for James and Lily in a few weeks. Do let me know if your parents will let you attend.
Your Dearest friend,
Remus.”
I gasped, feeling the tears come to my eyes at reading it. I didn’t believe that Sirius would betray James and Lily and just let the tears fall.
“(Y/n)? What’s wrong?”
“Two of my best friends are dead. I wish we’d never come to France. That was Remus writing, he said they’re having a funeral for James and Lily in a few weeks.”
“If you want to go, I understand. I’ll look after Bella for you.”
“Really?”
My mother nodded, “Yes. I know they were your friends, and I shouldn’t have forced you to come here.”
“T-thank you.”
-------------------------
I cried, placing my head on Remus’ shoulder and crying into his shoulder. I soon felt him wrap his arms around me, rubbing softly at my back, trying to comfort me. After I came back to Britain for James and Lily’s funeral, my mother said that I could stay if I wanted to, which is what I wanted, and a few weeks later, my mother came over with Bella and more of my and Bella’s stuff. Due to my parents moving to France, they’d sold the family home, meaning I didn’t have anywhere to live, but I ended up moving in with Remus after he bonded so well with Bella, and despite him being nervous about hurting her when he transformed, he got along well with her, so much to the point where Bella believed he was her father.
“Mummy, why do I have to go away every month?” she asked one time when I was helping her pack her stuff up for a few nights.
“Do you not like getting to stay at Jen and Lottie’s house, Bella?” I replied, as I placed her toothbrush in her bag.
“No! I like staying with them, it’s fun, I just want to know why.”
Before I could answer, the doorbell rang and I breathed a sigh of relief as I ushered Bella downstairs, opening the door to reveal Jen, “Thank you. You came at the perfect time. Thank you so much. She was getting curious about why she had to leave the house every month.”
“Are you ever going to tell her?”
“Tell her what, Jen? I don’t know what you mean.”
“That Remus isn’t her father? Are you ever going to tell her that?”
“Oh… Well does it actually matter? It’s not like she’s going to get to meet her biological father. Don’t you dare tell her. Remus is the closet thing to a father Bella will have, and you know why.”
“I know, but I happen to have overheard your last conversation with Sirius before you moved to France, you made him promise not to forget you, but are you really doing to forget him?”
“I don’t know what you mean, Jen. Remus is just being a good friend.”
“That you happen to fancy,” she teased, giving me a small poke in the shoulder.
“Shut it, I don’t and you know that!”
“What I know is that you like him! You’ve been telling me that he’s bonded so well with Bella that she believes he’s her father, so make it happen! Tell Remus you like him and boom, step-father!”
“Wait… weren’t you the one telling me to not forget Sirius?” I questioned raising an eyebrow.
“Well… Oh look at that, there’s my favourite little bean!” Jen exclaimed and I turned around, seeing Bella walking down the stairs, “I forgot Mr Fluffykins!” She spoke, walking down the last few stairs carefully, “He’s so fluffy!” I giggled patting her head, “Are you ready to go now?” She nodded and I handed Jen her bag for the few nights, knowing Remus probably wouldn’t be able to leave his bed the day after the full moon and that I’d have to tend to his fresh scars, which I didn’t mind doing. Jen was right, I did love him. Once Jen had left with Bella I closed the door and sighed, but I was disturbed from my peace, “(Y/n)?” I looked up to see Remus standing in front of me, a questioning look on his face, “Did I head Jen correctly there? Do you like me?”
“This isn’t the right time to talk about it, Remus.”
“That’s a yes then. I know that when you’re faced with difficult questions, you try and avoid the question. You can tell me the truth.”
I sighed, “Fine, yes. I like you. Please don’t b-” I was cut off when he took my hand in his scarred one and pulled me closer. “Good,” he muttered before kissing me. I was completely caught off guard but soon melted into it, wrapping my arms around his neck. I had taken the chance to be happy, knowing that I wouldn’t see Sirius again and that Bella deserved to have a father in her life, and better it was someone she had a close bond with, and believed already was her father.
“I have loved you for so long, (Y/n). You don’t know how long. It hurt when I saw you and Sirius-”
“Rem, please don’t mention his name. What’s in the past is in the past.”
---------------------------
“You can’t keep her hidden forever, (Y/n).”
“She’s my daughter. Sirius has no right to see her. Where’s he been for the last sixteen years?”
“To be fair, he didn’t know she existed, (Y/n)! He was locked up in Azkaban for thirteen of them, and you weren’t allowed to contact him for the other three!”
“What are you talking about?”
I froze and turned around from the conversation I was having with Molly and Remus to see Bella standing in the doorway, a confused look on her face. I sighed and started to play with the ring on my finger, biting my lip, “I-It’s not important, Honey. Please just go back upstairs.”
“She has the right to know, (Y/n). Just tell her.”
“Tell me what?” Bella asked again, refusing to move, “Tell me, Mum. Is there something you’re hiding from me?”
I sighed again, “I’m sorry, Bella, but yes. I haven’t been completely honest with you.”
Molly gave me a small smile and walked out, leaving me in the dining room with Bella and Remus, who placed a hand on my waist, “You’ve got this. She’ll still love you, don’t worry.”
“Right. Bella, I’m sorry, but I have been lying to you. The truth is-”
“I’m not your biological father, Bella,” Remus interjected, causing the sixteen-year-old to blink, “What? But who is then?”
“I’m interested too, (Y/n). Who is Bella’s father if it isn’t Moony?”
I sighed again, before turning to Bella, “Could you go upstairs for a few minutes, Bella? I’ll come and get you when it’s time to go.” She nodded and hugged me before walking off upstairs. I took a deep breath and turned my attention back to Sirius, “Who do you think? Who else would be her father for her to be seventeen? For her to be sixteen, she’d have to have been born in 1978, meaning…”
“She’s mine?”
“Yes, you’re her father, Sirius. Happened the night we first got together. Remember that Truth or Dare game?”
His face made an ‘oh’ shape and he nodded, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Sirius, drop it. It doesn’t matter now.”
“Why? How would you feel if your girlfriend didn’t tell you she was pregnant and you didn’t find out you have a child until they were seventeen?!” Sirius shouted at Remus, who just placed a hand around me comfortingly as I’d started to breathe heavily and was struggling to concentrate, “Sirius, for God's sake, be quiet. You’re stressing (Y/n), who might I add is my wife, out.”
Sirius’ eyes widened and he turned to me, “How could you? So you make me promise not to forget you and then you go and marry my best friend?!”
“Sirius, the circumstances were different! I didn’t know James and Lily were going to be killed and that you were going to be sent to Azkaban! Remus was there for me when you couldn’t be. Now if you don’t mind, I need to be alone for a while,” I replied going to walk towards the door, but I was pulled back and lips were planted on mine. When I realised it wasn’t Remus, I pushed away, “Sirius! Stop!”
“I know you still love me, (Y/n)!”
“Whether I do or not, does not give you the right to kiss me without permission! Especially when I am married now!”
“Oh come on! So all that time we spent together is now out of the window?”
“We were together for 5 months before I moved away, Sirius. I’ve been with Remus for almost as long as Bella’s been alive, speaking off, we should be off. I’ll go and get her,” I replied, kissing Remus quickly before walking out of the room and upstairs to find Bella.
-----------------------
“(Y/n), can you be truthful with me, please? Do you still love Sirius?”
I sighed and looked up at Remus, “Why?”
“Just answer the question, please. Do you still love him?”
“Rem, where’s this come from? I’ve told you before you are enough for me. I can deal with the werewolf thing.”
“Do you still love him!? Tell me.”
I gulped and took a deep breath before nodding, “Yes.”
“Then go to him.”
“Rem, don’t say that. Please. I love you!”
“You can’t love both of us, (Y/n)! I know you only married me for Bella’s sake.”
“I did not marry you for Bella’s sake, Rem. I love you. When we were in school, I had an incredibly hard time dealing with my feelings because my heart was telling me I was in love with both you and Sirius. It was you first and when I found out that you liked Jen, my heart also started to feel things for Sirius, but I still liked you, and I still love both of you.”
Remus’ eyes just widened as he tried to process what I’d said before he nodded, wrapping his arms around me, “Oh. Well, in that case, I should be honest with you. When we were in school, I had a small crush on Sirius too.”
This time it was my turn for my eyes to widen and I smiled, “Aww. Thank you for being honest with me, Remus.”
Before anything else could be said, there was a knock at the door. I detangled myself from Remus and walked to the door, being surprised when Sirius was the one standing there, “Hello.”
“Sirius? What brings you here?” I asked, letting him in. After he was inside, I closed the door and we walked into the living room, “Hey, Rem, look who turned up.”
I noticed Remus freeze up slightly, but he greeted Sirius nonetheless. Sirius then turned to me, “Oh yeah, I wanted to apologise for getting angry and defensive. It was not right for me to believe you still liked me after having seventeen years of no contact. I’m also sorry for kissing you without permission, especially when you’re married.”
I smiled something that surprised him, before hugging him, “Thank you for the apology, Sirius. Although, it doesn’t make the kiss ‘alright’, but I understand that you still love me… and honestly, I still love you too.” His eyes widened and he looked at Remus, fear written all over his face, but Remus just walked over and hugged him, causing a slight blush to take over both their faces, confirming my theory.
“Sirius, I’m going to ask you something, and you need to be 100% honest. Can you do that?”
He nodded and I could see he was nervous, wondering what I was going to ask. I smiled, “Have you ever had/do you have any form of romantic feelings towards Remus?”
Both their eyes widened and Sirius’ face turned bright red as he looked away from me, nodding slowly, “Y-yes.”
“Well, I have an idea. One that will make all of us happy. How would you two feel about a poly relationship?” They both looked at each other before turning to me and each of them kissing one of my cheeks, “That’s a brilliant idea.”
“I think so too.”
I smiled, “Great.”
---------------------------------
I smiled as the three of us stood on Platform 9¾ as the train came in. I stood in the middle of Remus and Sirius, both of them with an arm around my waist, as we waited for Bella to get off the train. She soon spotted us and ran over with her stuff, Harry following behind her. Once she got closer, Bella stopped, blinking at the situation in front of her, “Mum? What’s going on?” she asked, noticing Sirius’ hand wrapped around my waist.
“Right. I forgot to mention it in my last letter, but you’re going to have two fathers from now on.”
She just looked at me blankly, completely confused, “What?”
I giggled and ruffled her hair, “To put it simply. During the past few months, I realised I was still in love with your biological father, as well as your stepfather, and the three of us came to the conclusion we were all in love with each other, so we’re all dating each other. Do you mind that, Bella?”
Instead of her being mad, like I expected, she just smiled and hugged me, “I’m happy for you, Mum!”
I returned the smile and hug, “Glad to hear that, Bella.”

Tumblr media
Concept art by Christian Alzmann. Depicts an AT-ST attacking a fishing village on Sorgan at night, with the Mandalorian and locals fighting back. Image from The Mandalorian, Season 1, Episode 4, Sanctuary.
Din Djarin hated to admit it, but that whole thing on Sorgan had been a huge fiasco. It was in the middle of nowhere with nothing of any value. Why the heck were there Klatooinian marauders there? How the heck did those villagers survive the first attack? And who managed to follow them there to go after the kid? None of it made sense and it all gave him a headache.
Even the drop trooper, Cara Dune, gave him a headache, although that had been a lot more literal than figurative. She didn’t pull punches, but then he hadn’t either. The headache came when she kept encouraging him to stay on Sorgan with the kid and adopt a family of his liking. Really, to stay with Amara and Winta. He didn’t need a match maker any more than he needed to become the kid’s de facto dad.
After what happened to his family and what he’d seen happen to dozens, if not hundreds, of other families, he had no interest in having a family of his own, ever. It was a mistake to have done anything with the kid other than hand him over to anyone but that Imp apologist. That had caused him more trouble than it was likely to be worth, including exposing the covert and that wasn’t a mistake he was ever going to live down.
Why did it all have to be so dank farrik hard? He just wanted to live his life, stop some people from causing more trouble, and enjoy the company of his own thoughts? But that just was not the direction his life tended to follow. He’d had to do a lot of things he wasn’t always proud of just to survive. Yes, being so obviously a Mandalorian helped him in the short term, but over the long term it had been just as much trouble as being a child on Aq Vetina.
He was an automatic target for people he didn’t even know and didn’t want to know, warm or cold. They saw the armor, particularly the helmet, and then either thought he was there to save them from anyone who was annoying them even mildly, or had been hired to crush their dreams, even if those dreams were running a ronto cart on Mid-Rim planet. What the hell did he care about licensing ronto carts?
It didn’t matter. He was the physical embodiment of enforcement. Not of his own rules, but of the Mandalorian Creed, or the Imperial Code, or the local taboos. He could count on one hand the number of times a person had simply smiled at him and wished him a good day. The fact that it was always the same person, who’s name he couldn’t remember, didn’t seem to matter.
It also didn’t matter that he only sort of, kind of remembered her face, or her voice, or anything meaningful about her. Just that they had met, usually at a tavern and she had smiled at him and said something kind. Something pleasant. Something that she probably said to everyone else she had ever met, but to him it seemed special.
He wished she had been on Arvala-7. He probably could have handed the kid off to her and she would have known just what to do. Or even at Sorgan. She probably would have known exactly how to disrupt that wretched AT-ST without getting soaked, or almost stepped on by it and certainly without causing so much damage to the village.
Nothing about what he actually knew about her suggested that she could handle all of that sort of thing with ease and grace. Din Djarin just figured that anyone who could simply smile at him and not be afraid, or worried, or panic stricken, or imploring him to help prevent some other catastrophe, must be able to handle problems he couldn’t even imagine.
He began to laugh. There he was. The kid was asleep in the passenger seat; they were headed for Tatooine because at least he knew that Imps didn’t go there, other than to die; and he was wishing that someone he couldn’t really remember had spent their imaginary time with him because that smile was so unforgettable. He must be losing it.
“You worry too much. The time will come. I’ll be smiling then, too.”
Dank Farrik! There it was again. The voice in his head. Comforting him when he was pouting. It wasn’t his mother. Or even his grandmother. He’d been fearless then because he had known so much less about how even his home world worked, let alone the galaxy. He hadn’t worried about battle droids, people called separatists, or the Jedi, who were supposed to save them all, but didn’t.
He’d mostly worried about getting his clothes dirty or torn as he and his friends ran around and found much more harmless ways to get into trouble. Now he was worried about his sanity. Or at least spending so much of his time with just his own company. Hearing voices wasn’t unknown as a phenomenon among pilots who rarely had cargo that could talk back.
“Patu!”
Din Djarin laughed. The kid was up. He didn’t know if that was good or not, but at least that sound was real. He didn’t have to worry about his imaginary friend and how she provided comfort when he needed it the most. But he did wish that she had advice for how to feed a kid who didn’t want to eat regular rations. The smell of frogs was a little overwhelming, even in the Razor Crest. For once he was happy about not using a smaller ship to ply his trade. Uff.

skk dynamics!
I just want to talk about Soukoku so that is precisely what I'm going to do ^^
As per, this post has no specific or planned direction, I'm just gonna see where it takes me lol.
It genuinely irks me to see the rampant mischaracterisation within the fandom pertaining to not only just Soukoku, but several other characters as well. Ranpo, Akutagawa, Kunikida, etc. It might just be my dumb little screaming brain being scared of something that's not supposed to be in my head, or hell, something that's in the BACK of my mind, and I know that makes no sense but it does to me xoxo
I just really treasure the dynamic between Dazai and Chuuya and I get frightened that when I think somebody is mischaracterising them, I'm the only one that thinks that and that I'm just perceiving them wrong. Which genuinely is the one thing I never wish to do; when I write fics, my number one goal is to make the characters as true to life as possible. I try my damndest to do justice to their characters, and based off of the lovely people that read it and comment, I'm doing something right, surprisingly.
The characterisation of Dazai and Chuuya specifically is something so important to me because I relate to the both of them the most out of any of my interests. And I have a LOT of interests.
I don't know why or how, but they came to be my absolute favourite characters over all other fandoms and shows and games and films I enjoyed. (I'm excluding the Marauders fandom here, because I also love Remus and Sirius exactly like this). I piss myself off with it sometimes, because I accidentally base all of my creative outlets off of Soukoku, and lo and behold, I have about 30 unfinished ideas/fics after one night of ruminating over these motherfuckers.
Anyways. Like I said, this post has no point, it's just my incoherent, incessant rambling that if I don't write down, will slowly eat away at me until I die ^^
So, I guess, without further ado, I'm just gonna get going?
LMAO
Anyways,
Soukoku's dynamic has always been interesting. We were introduced to them first (as a pair) as enemies; ex-partners, rivals, loathing each other. But, when we slowly got to see more of their relationship, more of their past, more of their dynamic, quite a lot of us slowly came to realise; oh shit. There's more to them here.
The two of these together aren't just black-and-white characters. Dazai is not inherently good just because he works for the ADA. Chuuya is not inherently bad just because he works for the PM. They are morally grey characters. They've killed people, tortured people, stolen, beaten, attacked, hurt, all that good stuff that comes with being in the Mafia (nevermind fucking Mafia executives). Something that a lot of people seem to forget is where to draw the line between these two organisations; if the ADA is harbouring two fugitives that are ex-mafia, one of them being an executive, another fugitive that terrorised the streets of Japan as a man-eating tiger, and is run by an ex-assassin who was close with the current leader of the Port Mafia, who's to say that they're the good guys? Who is the one to define the evil and the light?
Nobody.
There are no sides.
The Port Mafia aren't the bad guys, and the Agency aren't the good guys. They're both doing their morally grey jobs with their morally grey cast of characters.
Yes, on a base level, the ADA are supposed to be the good guys, whereas the Mafia are the bad. It's a narrow-minded way of thinking and looking at the series, but on a surface level, yes, that seems to be the case.
However, we have layers to this. We know how morally grey these characters are, good or bad. Take Tanizaki, for example, and his way of going about it when Naomi is threatened. He knows he's morally grey. He knows he's not one of the good guys. None of them are! They save people, and that makes them good. But it doesn't make them the good guys. I'm not calling them bad people, of course not. I'm just saying, in the wise words of a post I once read months back, 'Maturing is realising that neither the Port Mafia or the ADA are the good or bad guys'. Something along those lines.
ANYWAYS, I've written this much already and still haven't spoken about SKK.
My point here was their good apple/bad apple dynamic. Dazai is from the same place Chuuya is at, the Mafia. So, by calling Dazai a 'bad guy' you're indirectly also calling Chuuya a bad guy. You're calling Hirotsu a bad guy. You're calling Akutagawa a bad guy. You're calling Higuchi a bad guy. You're calling all of these Mafia members the bad guys; when that's not strictly true. Morally grey characters, yet not monsters. Not bloodthirsty, demonic, evil motherfuckers. They're in the Mafia; not a good start, of course. But again, this does not make them bad people. Actions don't define the person you make yourself out to be, if that makes any sense. Just because a bad person did one good thing one time does not necessarily make them a good person. But if they strive to become a better one by constantly doing good and making active efforts to change their ways, then they're well on their way to earning that title, or coming close to it. Just because someone good did a bad thing one time does not automatically make them a bad person. They're not awful for making one bad choice, depending on the severity and their actions after the choice. Because it can go both ways; strive to be a better person, or fall to be a bad one.
ANYWAYS.
SOUKOKU.
I LOVE SOUKOKU.
So, I'm actually going to talk about them instead of fucking RABITTING ON FOR HOWEVER LONG.
Anyways.
Soukoku is special to me. I relate to the both of them the most. I recognise the flaws in each of them, and I recognise the good. I recognise the changes they're willing to put themselves through for the sake of the greater good, and I recognise the struggles they've been through to get there. I see myself in them, and so I can't help but latch onto them and want to keep them for myself. My subconscious wants to protect them and make them happy and becomes unhealthily attached to these fictional characters.
Anyways.
Soukoku dynamics. Right.
One of my favourite dynamics about Soukoku is the childlike behaviour they exhibit with one another. Even after seven years and they still bicker like they did at 15. I've said it a thousand times before and I'll fucking say it again; they let each other be the children that they never got to be. They let loose with one another. They unwind. They relax. They recognise their similarities (much to Chuuya's chagrin and unwavering denial) and each other's differences. Where there is hate, there is love and trust. It's buried deep. But it's there. The two of them have their walls put high up. They guard themselves well. They keep their shit inside. They let not another soul see what goes on in their hearts. So, with their crying children stuck inside of them and locked down, they let them out around each other. By simply being with each other at any given moment, they're healing their inner children, and allowing them to breathe.
Each moment with Soukoku is so delicate. It feels intrusive to watch their intimate scenes. It feels like such a beautiful moment, so precious to watch and so delicate to touch. The intimate scenes with the two of these are either emotionally charged, blazing, action-packed and full of chaos, or quiet and serene. Tranquil. It's never really neutral ground for them. It's either chaos or serenity, just a calm moment between the two of them, away from the rest of the world and taking (unknowing) comfort in each other's presence.
It's the small smiles from Dazai when Chuuya isn't looking. It's the words and actions with hidden meanings exchanged between them. It's the concern when one of them gets hurt, or is stuck in an unprecedented situation. It's the unfaltering trust and loyalty between each other that pushes them forward, even if it kills them, or seems fruitless. It's the determination that sits in the both of them to protect those that they care about, and put the world above all else for just a moment.
Small, knowing glances. Inside jokes. Petulant, playful bickering. Concerned thoughts. Constant thoughts.
I find it hard to believe that nobody else finds Dazai and Chuuya suspicious; they're hardly discreet about how much they think about each other. Example number one:
Chuuya is drunk with Hirotsu and Kajii. On a whim, he decides to go on a rant about Dazai. Hirotsu and Kajii are apparently sick of it; he does this a lot. He decides, impulsively, to ring Dazai's phone. Dazai picks up the fucking phone. Hirotsu answers, Dazai's like 'Oh, hey, yeah this is my old phone.' Blatantly lies to the motherfucker, because Dazai, honey, you're at home reading; what have you got your old phone from seven years ago next to you, working, and on for? Chuuya wants to speak with him. Gets angry when he can't talk to him to shout at him and complain. Keeps trying to call him back in anger.
Now, if I do say so myself, that's pretty suspicious of them.
Example two:
Dazai in fucking general. He does not shut the fuck up about Chuuya. He tells everyone he meets about how much he spends thinking about Chuuya (everyone except the Agency ahem). He's fucking gay.
That also brings me on to another point. Dazai rarely speaks about Chuuya with the ADA; I'm not too sure I've ever seen him say anything about him to them, except in Wan and the like. (I'm dumb tho tbf). However, upon Yosano figuring out Chuuya's identity, his first reaction is "Goddamn it, Dazai told them". Not that he's a widely known gravity manipulator and its not fucking hard to figure it out, plus the fact that he's a Mafia executive, PLUS the fact that they're a detective Agency? His first impulse is to blame Dazai lmao. Anyways.
You can ignore the first half of that paragraph I was just chatting mad wham.
Anyways.
I just enjoy how peaceful and serene the intimate moments between Soukoku can be. Even the world around them is falling apart, it still somehow feels so beautiful, real, raw, and personal. When Dazai is watching Chuuya fight in storm bringer, it feels so quiet. All hell is breaking loose, yet Dazai is so breathtaken by Chuuya that we feel as if we're interrupting. I don't know why but all I picture upon imagining that scene is a very quiet scene, just for a few seconds, of no music or anything, and white. Just the colour white in as many places as possible. A softness to the screen. I don't know. It just feels like that to me and I can't explain it.
Soukoku's dynamics are so important, because when people mischaracterise both Dazai and Chuuya and then smush that together it creates an abomination of what was supposed to be beautiful and ruins the relationship they really have, muddying their name. Their relationship is special. It's so much more than hate.
Hate is also a crucial part of their relationship, however. And a lot of us Soukoku shippers tend to forget that. We're so blinded by how much we want them to admire and adore each other that we forget how much they do despise one another. And I've mentioned this before in another post.
Their hate is real. It's not a ruse, it's the real deal. They genuinely do hate one another; but that hate is filled with so much more than downright disgust. That hate is filled with the trust of their bond, seven years of partnership, love, and so many unspoken things between the two of them.
Chuuya hates Dazai because he hates himself. He refuses to let himself see the similarities between him and Dazai, because he could never be like him. Chuuya often struggles with his identity and who he is and just how human he is. He didn't know until he was 16 whether he was a real human or not. And so, upon meeting this other human at 15 who craves death and wants to just throw away this human life that he's been given? That's a hard no for Chuuya. He resents Dazai for being so willing to give up his life so carelessly, so easily. He'd do anything at that point to realise just how human he was, to prove his humanity to others and to show his compassion and human qualities. And he stumbles across this stone-cold, suicidal kid who wants to let go of all of that, sees no point in trying to even be human, and who is lacking empathy for other human lives. Chuuya disgusts and loathes that. So, he wants nothing to do with him. Does not want to be attached to him in any way shape or form. Refuses to acknowledge their similarities. So, when he's being tortured, and the first thing he hallucinates is Dazai? It preys on his insecurities and deepest fears. He fears that he's not at all a human, and he fears that he is like Dazai, an unfeeling, indifferent, seemingly heartless boy who wishes to give up on the world, who wishes he was never born, who wishes nothing more than to be granted that sweet release of death.
I can't articulate very well, so for that I do apologise! But yeah, this has always been an important scene for me. In his moment of weakness, Chuuya hallucinated the person that he wanted to see the least, first. He hallucinated Dazai before his freshly dead friends, etc. And claims that, whilst he's being tortured, after Verlaine has killed the people closest to him, that he hates him the most out of anyone in the world. A lot of people said that this was an overreaction; respectfully, shut the fuck up ^^ My boy was being tortured, give him some leeway, yeah?
Anyway.
It just goes to show how deep those roots of self-hatred go within Chuuya; it seems him and Dazai have something more in common than originally thought.
Now, I don't actually have a complete grasp on the reason why Dazai hates Chuuya so much. Because, he doesn't hate him as much as Chuuya hates him, or as much as he makes it out to be. Dazai is an eccentric bastard, dramatising things for the sake of stirring up trouble. He overexaggerates for a variety of reasons, one of those being to conceal any emotion he IS feeling. He makes a big song and dance out of the little things to try and forget about the big things. To not think. Dazai is not numb by nature. He's numb by conditioning. He has conditioned himself to feel nothing, to be cold and logical and rational. Mori, of course, only exemplified these traits, making him colder and more calculated than ever/before. So, my blind guess is that he holds a sort of resentment to Chuuya for being able to be more normal than he is, for wanting to live and not seeing the world as a boring, pointless place. But, he also wants Chuuya to thrive as a human, to be able to live his life knowing and being sure of his humanity. And, when it's only him and Verlaine, he grows quite... emotional (trust me, it's not a lot but that's the only word I can think of) when talking about his humanity. That, Chuuya has to be a human. Because how could he hate someone so much? He has to be a human, because if he wasn't he would like Dazai more.
I think Dazais "issue" (I CAN'T THINK OF WORDS RIGHT NOW LMAO) is that he just wants Chuuya to like him. Maybe he wants a friend. Maybe there's something else to it. But, Dazai has always had strong... feelings, towards Chuuya. "Jokingly" telling him he loves him. Getting awfully close when he doesn't need to, and never does with anyone else. Yeah, you're not fooling anybody hun. Makes many romantic comments that could be passed off as something else entirely about him. Showing active concern for him. Caring for him. Thinking about him. He shows a lot more attention to Chuuya than he gets in return; by that I mean speaks about it more. Is a lot more verbal than Chuuya is.
GAHHHH sorry sorry I just have too much to say and don't know when to SHUT THE FUCK UP but I have SO MUCH more to say, but I'm going to be going off and writing my shitty little fics that should've been written yonks ago <3
have a lovely day/night! ^^
