It's nice when I get a sudden nostalgic flashback to when I saw my first PZPTH episode... it was just meant to be. It really did change me, but for the better? I don't know about that, but I don't think I'd be this happy or content without it.
I still remember it vividly. Not exactly what I said or thought but enough to remember the spark.

Why didn't Viv just make a pure romance animation instead of throwing away premise for the favor of terminally online shippers?
Probably because she doesn't really know how to stick to the premise of her shows. Like I genuinely think that Viv initially started with the idea of Helluva Boss being about assasins going to the human world to kill people for clients, but over the course of the show's production she slowely started coming up with more plotlines and ideas and slowely put them into the show regardless how many of them there would end up being, and Stolitz was likely the biggest one.
I've seen some people even say that Stolitz is the point of the show. It is not. Stolitz was not the premise of HB. It just eventually took over HB as the series went on. The show completely lost it's focus and PLOT in favor of becoming a melodramitic romance story featuring a horrendously written reletionship that people for SOME REASON insist on trying to defend.
It's genuinely pretty sad how HB went into this direction. Like the show had such an interesting premise that could've made for so many creative ideas but the writers just threw it away in favor of throwing a gizzalion plotlines at the wall because they coulden't decide which one to focus on.
Stolitz is the worst of these not only because the reletionship is just badly written, but also because it warps the show to be about it. The show has now become a shitty romance story intended to cater only to shippers, completely alienating the demographic the first season and pilot attracted. And I'm sick of people defending this shit with "ohhhh but the show's premise would get repetive!" because there are plenty of ways a show could utilize it's premise without it being repetive. I got an ask mentioning BDFI but there's also Penn Zero Part Time Hero; a prime example of a show that utilizes it's premise to it's full creative potiential and makes it into the main appeal of the show.
And that's the thing; the main premise of the show is the APPEAL of it. It's the thing that draws a viewer into checking it out. A show abandoning that is not good writting. Helluva Boss feels like it doesn't know what it wants to even BE anymore. Is it a episodic dark comedy show? A romantic drama show? Just a straight drama show? We don't fucking know anymore and the show certainly doesn't.
There ARE ways to stray from the premise a bit without alienating past viewers, Amphibia's third season moved to earth for the first half but that was because it was a natural way to progress the series. Helluva Boss jams three premises for three different shows into one and what we now have is a completely confused mess of a story that lost it's identity.
And THAT'S why abonding the premise killed HB. It lost any real focus of what it wanted to be and is the sole thing behind most of the show's major issues. It jams too many plotlines into just 1-2 seasons resulting in everything being a completely unfocused mess.

Imagine if they did a Penn Zero spin-off where Penn travels the Multiverse as himself, meeting all of the Heroes he zapped into during his work as a Part-Time Hero.
(The Superhero he zapped into is the new Captain Super Captain. RIP Adam West)
Ooo! That might be cool!
If not a spinoff, I think it would have made for a cool Special Episode!

Penn Zero: Part Time Hero pilot!!!
youtube
The differences are small but noticeable
Penn’s hair, Boone’s voice, Sashi’s attitude, Rippen’s name (it’s “Mr. Reap” in this), and Larry is slightly gayer than usual
I have to say I prefer the final result over the pilot, but what do you guys think? Let’s discuss!
Mostly just an excuse to talk to the PZPTH fandom that I only just now found out exists

17.Who invented the animal-to-human translator.
(For the descendants theories thing )
Tumblr media
There are many inventors in disney who could have made the animal-to-human translator.
But the question we must ask ourselves is who could or would do so? Who has motive to do so?
And who wouldn't?
Today I will be focusing on who could and couldn't have invented the animal translator thing and I will be going over those in the wiki and those that may have been forgotten/overlooked by the wiki to do so.
Couldn't:
Chef Andre (from Sofia the first): He gave up on inventing before the series even began and didn't seem to have interest in taking it back up, so he's out.
Spiderman (The Amazing Spiderman): We have no real proof he exists in Disney Descendants and, even if he did, this doesn't really seem his style so he's out.
Aggro (Miles from Tomorrowland): We have no proof that he exists and again, this doesn't really seem his style so he's out.
Professor Acari (Kim Possible): He focuses mainly on robotics, so this translator thing does not seem to be his type of thing. So he's out too.
Dr. Akita (Ducktales): He is a dog and doesn't like treating things he sees as beneath him as people, so why would he be interested in inventing something just to communicate with things he sees as beneath him (he'd probably see humans as less than him too)? He's out.
Dr. Axolotl (TaleSpin): He has beef with Shere Khan, who probably exists in Disney Descendants (I think it was actually stated he did exist?), but he's an animal himself and I honestly can't see him wanting to communicate with humans, so he's out.
Bug Bailey (Dick Tracy): We don't know if he exists and he was the tech expert of the police department, so we have no idea if he's even capable of inventing such a device. He's out.
Baron Von Steamer (Big Hero Six: The Series): We don't know if he exists and he doesn't seem to have interest in animals, so he probably wouldn't invent such a thing, so he's out.
The Beagle Boys (DuckTales): No motive and might not even exist, so they're out.
Beaker (Muppets): We don't know if he exists and his inventions tend to turn out wrong, so it probably wasn't him.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast): I can't remember if animated Belle was an inventor, but even if she was, she was queen when it was invented. When would she have time?
Sara Bellum (Darkwing Duck): She might not exist, she's a duck, and the invention wouldn't help the organization much at all, so probably not her.
Big Bad Wolf (Redux Riding Hood): He could exist and maybe he could invent the thing, but he's a villain so he'd be on the isle (as would most of the villains/former villains) and thus the technology would not be available to those in Auradon. So he's out.
Alador Blight (Owl House): He could exist and could be capable/interested in inventing such an item but he'd probably be on the isle, unfortunately. So, because of the lack of availability of the technology for the Auradon folk, he's out.
Boone Wiseman (Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero): I can't see him inventing something like that unless it was for a mission and he's a part time hero, so he's probably pretty busy. He's out.
Dr. Cyrus Bortel (Kim Possible): Based on his previous inventions alone, he's out even if you could argue he'd be capable. It does not seem to be his thing.
Sigmund Brock (American Dragon: Jake Long): We don't know if he exists but even if he does, his previous inventions are too different from this. And he could be considered a villain by some, so he's out.
Bruno Carelli (Ms. Marvel): We don't know if he exists and though he's probably more than capable of inventing such an item, he doesn't have a motive so he's out.
Bug (Future Worm): We don't know if they exist and they don't have the motive. He's out.
Taurus Bulba (Darkwing Duck): No clue if he exists, he's a villain, and doesn't have the motive. He's out.
Bungo (Jungle Junction): No clue if he exists, he doesn't seem capable of inventing such a thing, and has no motive. He's out.
Commander Buck Burpelson (Quack Pack): Doesn't have the motive, might not exist, and doesn't seem to have the need for such a device, so he's out.
Capricious Harmony (Disney Kingdoms series Figment 2): She's capable but doesn't have a motive for such an invention and might not exist, so she's out.
Captain Nemo (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea): He may he capable but might not exist in descendants and has no motive, so he's out.
Dr. Marcus Garvey Carver II (The Proud Family Movie): He's a scientist who experiments in peanut cloning technology. He seems to have no interest in animals or animal related technology. Whether or not he's capable doesn't matter given that and the fact he might not exist in descendants, so he's out.
Jason Chandler (Discovery Bay Chronicles (unaired pilot)): Might not exist and doesn't seem capable of such an invention, nor does he have the proper motive. So he's out.
Chrona and her father (Hidden Worlds): She doesn't seem capable though she does have the motive (i.e the creature but that also marks her out because she would have invented the above device if she was capable of doing so) so she's out. Also we don't know if she exists.
Carlos de Vil (Disney Descendants): He's capable and would have the interest but man was born on the isle and it would have likely been mentioned if he'd invented the item.
Cobby Hugglemonster (Henry Hugglemonster): Might not exist and doesn't seem capable of such a thing due to his young age. Also it's only for humans and animals as far as we know, so that also rules him out.
Curtis (Santa Claus): His whereabouts are unknown, he might not exist in this universe, and we don't have many references for his work. Nor does he have much motive so he's out.
Daedalus (Hercules): He looks down on those he thinks are dumber than him, so he likely wouldn't have invented an item to allow him to talk to animals he would probably think are of lower intellect than him so he's out. But maybe given the time change, maybe he could have changed enough to have created such a thing.
Donald and Douglas Davenport (Lab Rats): They probably don't have the interest after the bionic dog incident even though they're both capable. They might also not exist in this universe, so they're out.
Evelyn Deavor ( incredibles 2): She's capable but she's also a villain and if she exists, is on the isle. So she's out.
Lord Demanitus (Tangled the series): He's probably still dead, so though he'd likely have the interest and be capable of doing so, he's out.
Professor Demens (Kim Possible): Long dead and might not have existed, so he's out. Plus we don't know what he invented, so he's a no.
Professor Dementor (Kim Possible): He's out just because he's a villain. They wouldn't have access to his tech if he did invent it recently and he doesn't have the motive. He might also not exist so he's out.
Dexter Dingus (Mickey Mouse): Criminal and animal, so he's out.
Doc Static (Mickey Mouse): Animal, might not exist, and we don't have much idea of what he invented. So he's out.
Dr. Drakken (Kim Possible): Might not exist. Might be on the isle if he is capable. So he's out unfortunately.
Dreamfinder (Dreamfinders (unproduced)): Might not exist. No frame of reference for his inventions. So he's out.
Dr. Droid (Mighty Ducks): He's a villain and he hates organic life, so no motive. He's out.
Donald Duck, Everett Ducklair, Emil Eagle, Gyro Gearloose, Anna Matronic, and Genialina Edy Son (Mickey Mouse stuff): Animals. Might not exist. They're out.
Little Helper (Ducktales): He's a robot and his inventions don't relate to animals, so he's out.
Thomas Edison: Might not exist in universe and doesn't seem to have the motive.
Egghead (Ant-Man and the Wasp): Might not exist and is probably dead.
Electronique (Kim Possible): they have an interest in electrical stuff, not animals. So that and the question of whether or not they exist has them out. Also a villain.
Eliza Zambi (Zombies): She's capable but lacks the motive and might not exist. So she's out.
Emma Lau (Aaron Stone): Her inventions don't seem to correlate back to animals and she might not exist, so she's out.
Abraham Erskine (Captain America): He's out because he's dead, might not exist in this world, and his inventions don't correlate with animals.
Eureka (Eureka!): She lived during the stone age and might not have been brought to the present or exist, and she might not be capable of inventing this particular item so she's out unless new info comes out
Dr. Fen (Kim Possible): Villain who invents mainly robots and who might not exist. He's out.
Fernanda Pizazzo (Tangled the series): she doesn't seem capable of such a thing and has no strong motive, so she's out.
Benjamin Franklin: Might not exist, is probably dead, and doesn't seem capable and has no motive, so he's out.
Flik (Bugs Life): He doesn't seem capable, plus he's an ant. Even if he exists, how would he get the invention out to the wider public?
Phileas Fogg (Around the World in 80 Days): He's definitely capable but where's the motive and where's the proof of his existence?
Agent G (The Replacements): He's capable but where's the motive, interest, and proof of his existence?
Gary the Gadget Guy (Club Penguin): We have no proof that he's capable, that he exists, and that he has any interest in such an invention, so he's out.
Gibson (Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!): He'd probably be capable but where's the motive, interest, and proof of existence? Out.
Gwen Grayson (Sky High): She could be capable but would probably have no interest and again, might not exist and she is probably on the isle if she does due to her villain status. Out.
Green Goblin (Spiderman): He's a villain, probably doesn't exist, and he has no motive for such a thing. Out.
Goldie L. Locks (Goldie & Bear): She's capable but she can already talk to bears so there's not much motive, if she exists that is. She's out.
Grumio (Babes in Toyland): He works mainly with toys so he's probably not capable of inventing such a thing. If he exists that is. Out.
Gusto Gummi (Adventures of the Gummi Bears): I have no clue if he'd be capable of such a thing but there's no big motive for this. So he's out.
Gwen (Sofia the First): She's capable, sure, but her inventions seem to be centered around mainly music, cooking, and cleaning. Lacking motive, so she's out.
Geegaw Hackwrench and Gadget Hackwrench (Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers): Maybe they're capable if they exist, but their inventions rule them out due to lack of similarity or motive.
He who remains (Loki): Probably doesn't exist and motivate is lacking. He's out.
Hulk (Marvel): Probably doesn't exist and motivate is lacking. He's out.
Honey Lemon (Big Hero Six): She works mainly with chemicals, so she's out on that alone.
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Muppets): He probably doesn't exist and due to his history with his inventions, he's not likely to be capable of such an invention.
Ironman (Marvel): Capable but would he show interest in such an invention and probably doesn't exist? He's out.
Iron heart (Marvel): same reason as above.
Icarus (Hercules): I don't know if he'd be capable of such an invention and due to lack of other inventions to compare to, he's out.
Johan (Frozen): Worked mainly on windmills, so he's out.
Queen Iduana (Frozen): Worked mainly on windmills, so she's out.
Ling-Ling Johnson (Guilty Party): She may be capable but due to my lack of knowledge about her inventions, I can only assume they relate to her parents' detective work. So she's lacking motive and that boots her out.
Jumba Jookiba and Dr. Hämsterviel(Lilo and Stitch): They worked mainly on illegal genetic experiments and weapons, so they rules them out on this particular invention even if they are capable inventors.
June Chen (The Ghost and Molly McGee): She's capable but she's only worked on Ghost hunting stuff, so she's out.
Kang the Conqueror (Marvel): Lack of motivation, might not exist, and would probably be on the isle if he did, so he's out.
Harley Keener (Marvel): His inventions don't relate to animals or language at all, he doesn't seem to have any interest in animals, and he might not exist, so he's out
Aldrich Killian (Marvel): He's a villain, his inventions don't relate to animals, and he doesn't seem interested in them at all, so he's out if he does exist.
Maximus the Mad (Marvel): Probably doesn't exist and the invention doesn't seem like his type of thing. So he's out.
Lady Octopus (Spiderman): She's capable but has a lack of motive and might not exist, not to mention she worked mainly on robotics. So she's out.
Cassie Lang (Ant-Man): same reason as above.
Lenore Shimamoto (Big Hero 6): She's dead, didn't show anyone her inventions which didn't relate to animals, and seems more interested in chrystanthemums if she did exist, so she's out.
Leo Callisto (Miles from Tomorrowland): He might not exist and I don't know much about his inventions, so he's out unless I get more information.
Lexington (Gargoyles): He's a gargoyle, might not exist, and I don't know enough about his inventions, so he's out unless I get more information.
Lickspittle (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil): He's definitely on the isle for what he did to those fairies and probably wouldn't have interest in this invention, he's out.
Mad Doctor (The Mad Doctor): He's dead and if he wasn't, he'd be on the isle for the experiments he did on animals. I also don't think he's capable of such a thing.
Mr. McHenry (Kim Possible): He works with lasers, not animals and might not exist. So he's out.
Mechanicles (Aladdin): it'd turn into a weapon if he'd made it, he's out.
Merlin Jones (The Misadventures of Merlin Jones): He works with hypnosis, so he's out.
Merriweather Adam Pleasure (Pleasure Island): He created stuff that was fun, sure, but I don't think this kind of thing is up his alley. Plus he's long dead at this point even if he did exist and was capable of this.
Moon Girl (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur): Doesn't seem her type of invention and she might not exist, so she's out until I get further proof that she could be capable and would invent such a thing.
Mr. Woodbird (Tiny Ones Transport Service): He's an animal and might not exist, and this doesn't seem this kind of thing, so he's out (unless I get further proof).
Could:
Bob (Puppy Dog Pals): He's both capable, has an interest in animals, and not a villain, so he's a good candidate.
Captain Brieux (The Island at the Top of the World): We don't know if he exists but he's eccentric, a decent inventor, and he has a pet poodle, so he probably could invent something like this and does have the motive.
Searcher Clade (Strange World): He's a farmer, so he had the motive and he seems more than capable of inventing such a thing so he's a good candidate.
Clyde Cosgrove (Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers): He seems capable with some help and he has the motive, and is not a villain so he's a good candidate.
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (many movies): He's been in many disney movies, so he likely exists. He could very well have made the blueprints/thought up the idea though he's very unlikely to have built the invention himself.
Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb): Has the motive, is capable, and he could have given his daughter his inventions if he got sent to the isle. Question is, does he exist?
Drosselmeyer: He has the motive and might be capable though he's not too likely given he specifically likes creating toys.
Edgar "E" Gore and Victor Frankstien (Frankenweenie): Assuming they're not on the isle, they're more than capable and given their love of animals, they have the proper motive.
Ferb and Phineas Fletcher (Phineas and Ferb): I don't really need to say anything. If they exist, they're definitely capable of this invention.
Graham Pudowski (Ron's Gone Wrong): He could be capable and has the motive. If he exists, he's a good candidate.
Hiro Hamada (Big Hero 6): He is more than capable of inventing such a thing, he wouldn't be on the isle if he exists, and he has a cat. That's motivation enough. Possible candidate.
Princess Isabella Castillo Flores (Elena of Avalor): She seems capable of it, she likes animals, and her family has magic on their side, so maybe it made her realize that the animals around her COULD be sentient enough to communicate with. Possible candidate (if you know what she invented and disagree let me know, the wiki didn't tell me anything about her inventions).
Prince Jin (Sofia the first): He seems capable and,due to the talking Panda incident, he has the proper motive to WANT to make such a thing (if you know what he invented and disagree let me know, the wiki didn't tell me anything about his inventions). Possible candidate.
Lewis Robinson (Meet The Robinsons): His inventions are different enough from one another that he could have interest in inventing such a thing. Plus his family has a T-Rex and possibly other pets, so maybe he did invent it (if he exists). Possible candidate.
Maurice (Beauty and the Beast): Maurice is a competent inventor and he's somewhat eccentric. He also has a horse and maybe a cat if you include the cat (and other concept characters), so he has motive. And we know he exists since Belle does. Possible candidate.
Old Man (Fiddleford Hadron) McGucket (Gravity Falls): He's capable, seems to like animals, and is eccentric enough that it's highly possible he'd invent this if he exists.
Charles Muntz (Up): Probably on the isle if they bothered to bring him back but maybe they used his collar that Dug still has to manufacture more. So he's the strongest confidant.
I'm going to end on him, since he did invent something almost exactly like this.
But if anyone wants more options, here's where you can find them:

Well, THAT's definitely big...
Jennifer Lee has stepped down as Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, following two genuine box office losses in STRANGE WORLD and WISH, in addition to several directors and staff leaving, some of which criticizing what the studio's output and workflow has become...
A decision she was apparently largely behind, herself, as she wants to continue her career as a director/writer/filmmaker and not lead a studio's creative process...
Taking her place is Jared Bush, who was a co-director and writer on ZOOTOPIA with Byron Howard and Rich Moore (both of them were considered to lead Disney Animation in 2018 when John Lasseter was being ousted), then graduated to director (no "co") on ENCANTO, and is confirmed to be the director of ZOOTOPIA 2. In addition to that, he did some script stuff for MOANA, and served as part of the studio's creative leadership for about a decade, his earliest WDAS credit being BIG HERO 6. Elsewhere in the Mouse domain, he co-created Disney TV Animation's PENN ZERO: PART-TIME HERO with former WDAS staffer Sam Levine, who was at one point set to direct the video game adventure movie that later evolved into WRECK-IT RALPH.
A lot of his prior work, curiously, was in network TV. Very little in animation, though. He got to WDAS when BIG HERO 6 was in the works, and immediately became part of the leadership there. Contrast that with Lee, whose only film/TV media credit prior to arriving at WDAS in 2011-ish to work on WRECK-IT RALPH's script was... A 2004 short film called A THOUSAND WORDS, which another RALPH writer - Phil Johnston - wrote and directed. Must've been a real referral! Soon after, Lee found herself writer and director on FROZEN, directing alongside veteran Chris Buck of TARZAN and SURF'S UP fame. That movie was a troubled-as-hell production, stuff was changed and re-arranged at the very last minute, it goes on to become the highest grossing animated movie (holding the title for nearly 6 years) and a worldwide phenomenon... And Disney Animation's first Oscar for Best Animated Feature winner.
So after that, after her story work on ZOOTOPIA, and after her exec roles on other movies, they made her CCO while she was deep in production on FROZEN II. Which despite being an equally troubled production where many last-minute changes were made, was still a huge box office smash... COVID-19 definitely hit her run as CCO like a freight train, as I do think RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON and ENCANTO would've fared well at the box office w/o a pandemic going on. The latter won the BAF Oscar and was a monster success on Disney+ in addition to having a 2x Platinum-selling soundtrack in the U.S. alone. I myself also feel that those two films are the strongest movies released during her tenure.
But even the good seemed to be marred by a lot of the things that were evident in Lasseter's tenure: Last-minute changes to things and upending whole movies the closer they get to the finish line, director removals and swaperoos (RAYA, particularly)... and much more caving to the focus groups. I also feel that Lee's storytelling instincts seemed to translate to "Well let's do every movie like FROZEN. The same kinda tone, art style, dialogue, etc." When it doesn't fit every movie, especially when they're going for genres that aren't what FROZEN is. I'd imagine it's the rest of the leadership too, and who she has to answer to and work with. Lasseter seemed to know how to skirt around focus groups for the most part, which could explain why some of the Lee-era movies just lack any kind of bite or even any kind of distinct directorial vision. When I hear stories like "The WISH co-director's 7-year-old kid got scared by the original ending, so they changed it", I do not approve. I don't think that's a good way of doing things. I kinda got the sense that she was unsure of herself being the leader and maybe trusted others over her own instincts... Thus her choosing to step down and focus on FROZEN III & IV and other projects checks out honestly.
The structure there has to change, really, no matter if Lee or Bush are leading the filmmaking charge. WDAS needs to worry less about living up to their legacy, and think more about creating new and dynamic kinds of movies that build a legacy in the first place. Like the way Walt himself and his crew did. That being said, Bush I think is a decent choice, with his experience and whatnot, he may do the leader thing just fine. MOANA 2 is likely the end of the Lee era then, as it's only two months away from release. ZOOTOPIA 2 is already in full production, as evidenced by the scene shown at D23 last month, so is that bridge to the Bush era? Or does little change under his role as CCO? Sometimes a filmmaker being CCO means the movies made by multiple people end up suiting that person's vision. And can lead to things being homogeneous.
We'll have to see, but it's a huge development nonetheless.
Lee has only lasted 6 years in charge, Lasseter lasted 11-12 years. His ouster was awkwardly prolonged when word got out about his inappropriate behavior, first going on "sabbatical leave" for half a year, and then being in some "consultant" role at the company before leaving altogether over one full year after the accusations got out.
Another cool detail about this change... Lee's directing partner on FROZEN III & IV is Marc Smith, not Chris Buck like the first two movies. Buck also directed WISH, and I wonder if - since he's free of FROZEN duties - he's staying at WDAS or he packs his bags and directs somewhere's else? WISH didn't seem like a particularly rewarding production for anybody, in addition to becoming a critical dud (a rare one for WDAS, with a low Rotten aggregate) and box office disaster, sooooo... That remains to be seen. As is what the 2026 original movie is... Maybe that's why Lee was weirdly quiet about it at D23...

Details I want to share about the video but they are spoilers so read with caution.
Ok so, in the first part of the video takes place on the first wedding anniversary of the two🥰, penn gives sashi as a gift this necklace (inspired by a fanfic I read some time ago), but disarfotunately the adult sashi doesn't wear because she stayed on earth before getting trapped in the most dangerous world imaginable.
Here she doesn't have painted hair, because although there is dye there, it's actually some creature's vomit, she thinks that eating weird and disgusting things is already a lot of suffering.
Finally she does not have her glasses and/or visors because they broke before the incident, what she is wearing are glasses to protect her eyes, for two reasons, one for any liquid or substance that may fall after a small slip she had, the other and the real one so to speak is related to a headcanon I have that she likes to see the stars and that she sometimes sees them with penn, boone and her best friend (forget her name) but in the most dangerous world imaginable if you look directly at the stars it would burn your eyes in seconds, so she wears them to see in her hard times and loneliness.
That's all I can share so far, I'm almost done with the first chapter, it's my first fanfic and I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. 😅

i’m making a new au
idk if anyone has actually seen Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, but it aired on Disney XD in the early/mid 2010s and was one of my all time favorite cartoons.
If you’ve never heard of it, there’s a synopsis linked here
if you wanna watch it for yourself, here’s the first episode (this link definitely doesn’t also lead to a trusted website where you can watch the entire show for free along with a ton of other cartoons, movies, and anime’s and definitely isn’t how i watch South Park without having Paramount + 👀)
if you don’t feel like either of those here’s a link to an out of context video that i think will be easy to understand without having watched the show and that shows character dynamics well.
anyway here’s the characters:

i’m gonna add a cut here so if you don’t feel like reading/watching something to get a feel for these characters, i’ll explain them (also it’s kind of an excuse for me to rant about how this show takes traits from common media and twists them perfectly to still have identifiable character types while having the characters be unique and mix well together in the show)
Kyle will obviously be Penn Zero himself, part-time hero, who’s the main character. I mean, come on, even the main guy has curly read hair! It fits too well. Penn also has some established anger issues, and sometimes has a hard time putting his personal emotions and morals aside for the sake of a mission. He’s snappy, witty, and good hearted but sometimes he can lose sight of the right thing when he gets in his own head.
Stan and Wendy will be Boon and Sashi, Penn’s best friends.
Stan is Boon, part-time wiseman. He’s a stereotypical dumb best friend, but he’s pretty philosophically mature when he needs to be. This is actually the only show I can think of where the “dumb best friend” trope isn’t annoying as shit, cause normally I hate characters like this. But here, Boon never feels like a burden to the episode and him being a little slower never makes him less capable than his friends. No one ever complains about him being too stupid and his best friends never belittle/infantilize him for not being as smart. He’s a great moral booster for the team and it’s clear how much his friends enjoy his company care for him despite him being kinda dumb. I don’t understand how no show since this one has been able to get this trope right.
Wendy is Sashi, part-time sidekick. She’s a total badass, having more fighting and strategic skills than the boys. She’s also the one to keep the mission on target and is willing to do whatever it takes to win the day. However, she’s never the stereotypical “i’m the responsible one so i hate fun” or “i’m a girl who can fight so therefore that’s my only character trait.” Shes aloof, isn’t the best at social ques, highly competitive, and shows her love for her friends by being fiercely loyal and protective of them. Even though she can get annoyed and tired of the random antics her friends cause, she never talks down to them. She also takes her role of sidekick very seriously and even though she’s a much more skilled fighter than Penn, she listens to his instructions and never undermines what he says unless what he tells her to do will lead to them failing. She’s a fiery spirit and can and will kick your ass if she sees fit.
Cartman and Butters are Rippen and Larry, the Stendyle trio’s part time villains.
Cartman is Rippen, part-time villain. Rippen is a very stereotypically evil guy. He doesn’t really have a motive, he just wants to win. Does he ever? No. Is it his fault that he loses most of the time? Also no. He’s a genuinely good villain but it’s often the people he works with or some Deus Ex Machina for the heroes that keeps him from getting to victory. Despite being a good villain, hes also pretty aloof. He’s a hilarious character simply because of how annoyed he is with everything all the time (especially his henchman Larry/Butters). Despite this, he does genuinely care for some things, like his stuffed animals and his co-villain (though he’s hard pressed to admit it). In the show Rippen is an art teacher who hates everything, but in this au Cartman is just gonna be another student who loves to mess with Kyle.
Butters is Larry, part-time minion. He works under Cartman and honestly sucks balls at being a villain. He’s silly, doesn’t really know how to take a situation seriously, gullible, easily distracted, and very kindhearted. However, he is incredibly loyal to Cartman and will do whatever he says without hesistation, he’ll just usually do it wrong or twist it so it’s a nice thing to do. Most of the time Butters is just there to stand by Cartman and do his own thing. It’s also a running gag in the show that Larry will just ramble on and on about literally anything and it drives characters actually insane, and Rippen will sometimes use that as a weapon, which is a very Cartman thing to do. In the show Larry is principle of the school Stendyle attends, but like with Cartman, i’m just gonna make Butters another student. However, in the show, Larry is also rich as fuck, which is really funny so i’m keeping that. Like, it’s rarely brought up, but there are some episodes that take place in his mansion and it’s great. (“Cartman, you know what i’d do if i had a million dollars?” “Butters, you do have a million dolla-“ “I’d buy everyone in the world a portrait! I did that once in my neighborhood. my neighbor said ‘you shouldn’t have!’ and I said ‘no worries Mark it’s my pleasure happy birthday!’ and he said ‘it’s not my birthday and my name’s Tyler’…” <- actual character interaction from the show almost word for word, tell me that doesn’t sound Cartman and Butters coded)

My Ramblings: Sick character episode! And it's Rippen! We get to see his bedroom once again, and his pajamas. We also see Freddy, the stuffed poodle mentioned in the previous episode. So cute!
Larry here to the rescue with alphabet soup with only R's, I's, P's, P's, E's, and N's (and chicken heads)! Find out that Larry got through his security system by using a glove made with... Rippen's fingerprints. This is the first peek at Larry's tendencies. But was for an emergency, like Rippen being sick. He just wants to care for him and make sure he gets his R & R & R. Rest, relaxation, and rapid eye moment.
What does it feel like yo have your eyelids forcibly closed? Must feel weird. Rippen's sick voice is highly amusing.
Here's the other one of those "Larry is strong" scenes, he just tackles the building that is Rippen and pulls him by his feet without a care or showing any struggle. I've pulled people like that, it's not an easy and casual thing you can just do! Larry is strong. Good, the better to hug with.
Rippen also brings up the fact that only he can win to become a full-time villain. Makes sense here, if it's just Larry and he wins, yeah, he would be the full-time villain instead. So that should mean, Boone and Sashi can't win a mission right? Well, can of worms later.
Phyllis is an icon. She'll straight up kill you if you possibly have Pandorian Moon Warts and she'll make molds of your face while you sleep to make a wielding mask.
Mission? Skeletons are going to release Satan from Hell... basically. This episode works as a Halloween episode, I guess. But it was released in April... damn, so close.
Poor bug, he just wanted to make friends, he's not that bad.
AH-RAH TAH-RAH SOL-TA-NI
That axe is straight out of Trollhunters, that goes with Jim's eclipse armor, return that! That's his back-up!
What an awesome entrance for Rip- LARRY! DEMON LARRY! This form is so perfect for Rippen, too bad, it's Larry time! Rippen ain't moving an inch, he threw up in class six times. Now Larry has the tig ol' bitties!
All the skeletons are just deep voiced and drawled out Rippen! I love when he does additional voices.
Also surprised that Larry doesn't call himself Larry, he calls himself Overlord. Just a neat detail.
This could've been the quickest mission in history, but Penn's heart gets the best of him. It's nice to see that he cares but that's definitely gonna bite him in the ass. But, I to, wouldn't want to see my nice principal get stabbed by a bunch of skeletons either.
"A part-time hero saves anyone in need, even his enemies." Penn, you're such a good person, genuinely. I like that this especially since it takes place after "I'm Still Super."
This whole traveling to the stairs thing is adorable as the skeletons like him more and more. Starting to sing along the way.
Oh god, the Rippen's nightmare. I hate this part so much! So it's super effective. I'd be scarred for life too if I was him, I think I am. God, it haunts me. Anyways that yell, huh? Not really a scream. It's funny and kind of cute? Is that the word I'm look for?
Uh oh, Larry's really feeling it now. But not in a "becomes addicted to power and becomes a jerkass" kind of way, he's just juiced up! I love that all the skeletons find him fun, Larry is so proud. And the cute chuckling into devilish, bellowing laughter? ADORE. His widdle fangs...
The Trio will forever be haunted by the fact that they were seconds away from losing to Larry and dying, all thanks to Penn. His screams to are a bit unsettling. This show has such great voice acting from everyone!
Phil, your how old and haven't tried lemon? Same age as Phyllis which is... old.
Rippen is here to save the day! Dang, wanted to see Larry win. That's OK. Larry doesn't care at all that Rippen just pummeled him to the ground and destroyed his axe, just the fact that he's feeling better. What a good friend. Oh, he's crushing him to death with his tig ol' bitties.
And what about "a part-time hero saves anyone in need, even his enemies?" He learned his lesson, let the skele-rip perish.
~The Characters~
Penn Zero: The heart on this boy. I'm sure being curious to see what would happen also probably helped fuel his compassion in Larry. All he wanted to do is help Larry out and boost his confidence, can you blame him? Well, yes, actually. They all almost died!
Boone Wiseman: He's there, looking good. Not befriending that giant bug.
Sashi Kobayashi: Penn should have listened to her... but I'm glad he didn't, sorry Sash.
Rippen: I have a headcanon that he's terrified of feet... I wonder why I'd think that!
Larry: Had a blast and almost won through pure glee and joy. I want him to be my boss, I'm looking for a new one.
Dimension(s): The cemetery and the Overlord's crypt looked sick, but we spend must of the time walking back to the top. Don't even see them in a boat!
Forms: Penn? He ate. No crumbs. Everyone go home. Actually, demon Larry? You stay, with your adorable face plastered on the buffest demon in Hell. Boone and Sashi are great, too. Skeleton Rippen? Good till he was basically being turned to dust.
