Probably like, my aunt, uncle & cousins on my mom's side

A couple years ago we were going to have our first full christmas dinner as a family after a previously (different) estranged cousin found more stability and started to be around the family again

But on the day of after she'd already picked me up my mom informs me that some days ago she had accidentally let slip that I'm trans (I believe by using my preferred pronouns in front of my grandparents)

And that one of the aforementioned cousins had decided to sit out said first full family dinner in years :I

Now she never explained exactly why, nor blamed me for it, but the statement of "oh and your cousin won't be attending" followed the prior explanation so it wasn't exactly hard to figure out

The dinner then happened, and my grandparents, my aunt and her previously estranged son all acted like absolutely nothing was up and just treated me like they always had, but said aunt and uncle and the one remaining cousin never said a single word or exchanged a gesture with me the entire evening

Haven't seen them since, either

#the rest of my family have been nothing but supportive too #they've either been explicitly supportive (like my grandparents who right before the dinner already went and excitedly chatted with me)#or they've treated me seamlessly the same way they always have and never said a thing #which is to say they've treated me with the same socialization and affection that I've always gotten #so yeah #I can only really assume just how the family members in question felt based on their behaviour compared to the rest #it was a fun day lol #definitely didn't have a panic attack

I ONCE TRIED TO WASH THAT SCUFFED OLD THING WHILE HE WAS TAKING ONE OF HIS NAPS, BUT WHEN I TOOK IT OFF HE WAS WEARING ANOTHER IDENTICAL ONE UNDERNEATH! AND ANOTHER! im not particularly religious but i think it’s very cute that Trans Day of Visibility and Easter are on the same day this year :)

its no question that something like this could be triggering or upsetting to a number of queer ppl given the current sociopolitical climate, so i want everyone to remember that u are loved! Regardless of what u or others believe, there are ppl who will love and support you always. Give yourself patience and treat yourself with care!!!
