There's something entirely heartbreaking about the fact that Lalo dies soon after he has to leave his Malverde pendant behind.

Its that necklace you can see on Something Unforgivable when Lalo is working on his car, talking to Nacho about Don Eladio.

For the LONGEST time I was sure it was a Santa Muerte charm, which is no doubt on purpose, but then Tony Dalton mentioned on the shoebox interview that it was a necklace of Malverde, which OF COURSE it is, and now it really annoys me that they didn't commit to it.

You mean to tell me it wasn't on purpose that the episode in which Lalo starts actively trusting Nacho, his second in command, somewhat friends, is the same episode in which Nacho betrays and tries to kill him, and its the only episode in which you can see the pendant of Malverde — yk, the narco-saint that was betrayed and killed by his friend. The one that kept sharing and giving out his riches to the poor... 'Not at all' alike Lalo being the only Salamanca that seems to actually take interest in sharing his riches.

Nevermind that he doesn't actually die when Nacho betrays him, oh no - if only because he was barely a real friend, but he dies as a consequence of it. He just leaves his Malverde necklace on the decoy body, sheds himself of the protection he gives, and then fucking dies. An underwhelming, avoidable death.

It means a lot to me. They are the same, and Malverde sees it.

I just read your “𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃, 𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏𝐒 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊” fi and it was soo good, I sobbed so hard. I was wondering if I could ask a couple of questions about it? One, I know megumi was super little when reader left, but would he recognize her, or at least get a family feeling from her? Two, where’s the ring Toji got for reader? Did he take it with him during his last job (kill the plasma vessel) or is it still at his house where Megumi can find it. Three, did Toji think of her in his last moments? Four, would reader decide to go say hi to Megumi or just leave?

hiiii thankyou for reading im going to be so honest with you here, i did not intend to have a part 2 and left it up to interpretation but ive gotten so many questions and requests for a continuation bc it blew up (courtesy of @/sttoru i love their works im so honoured for their reblog) so i will try to answer your questions on the spot lol

1. megumi doesn't recognise reader. yeah. but if he were to meet her, then he'd get some sort of familiarity. he won't know why but something in his heart makes him feel safe around reader :(

2. toji always held onto the ring. he did hesitate at the last moment on whether he should ask gojo to give the ring to you but too many years had passed and he's not sure if you want anything to do with him anymore. his ring finger always remained empty and hollow after you left. even before gojo blasted half of his body with his technique, toji already felt like he lost half of himself. so his last act of love to you is staying away from you for the rest of your life and his, for that matter.

3. both during his first and last death, his mind always wandered to megumi and you— the family he could have had, had he not messed up. he does wonder if megumi grew up with you and what you would've done with his last name but he also decides that some questions are left unanswered.

4. now i originally planned one where reader would try to leave but would be stopped by gojo and eventually she'll come around and take responsibility for megumi because :(( that's her son :(( and then young gojo would be infatuated with reader but reader would push him away because of the obvious age gap and so on. but i hesitated writing it so that's scrapped for now. lets just say this question is upto your choice ;)
