"I'D LET YOU INTERVIEW ME"
I WROTE A FIC WITH CLARK!
I hope you like it! 😊🖤☝

You were working on the new column for that week's newspaper delivery when you heard voices behind you.
You didn't have to turn around to realize your section chief was blaming the dark-haired man again.
"You're late again, Kent!" the man complained. "Do the clocks not work in your house?"
"Sorry, sir, it won't happen again," the poor boy apologized, before heading over to his desk
You don't remember exactly the day Clark started working at the Daily Planet.
It was probably after you moved to another building, but you weren't entirely sure.
You glanced up to give him a quick glance, since your desks were right across from each other.
He noticed you looking at him and greeted you with a soft smile, which you imitated.
"Good morning, Clark," you greeted cheerfully.
"Hi, y/n," he replied, happy to see you with so much energy, considering it was Monday morning.
Kent thought it was inevitable not to feel happy every time he saw you.
You were always brimming with vitality, and you wore more extravagant colors every day.
It was very curious that, depending on the color you chose for your outfit that day, Clark was able to deduce your state of mind: whether you were happy, sad, overwhelmed, or tired.
That day, you were wearing bright orange pants and a yellow blouse, your two favorite colors.
Clark remembered it from a conversation you had a couple of days ago in which you confessed that those colors made you happy.
So that's how you felt: happy
"May I ask why you're so happy today?" "He murmured, putting aside what he was doing to focus his full attention on you.
"Well, the technician came this morning to fix the coffee machine," you indicated it with a nod of your head, "and now it works perfectly, so Lois won't have to add kilos of sugar to compensate for that horrible taste she had before," you explained, making him smile as he watched you enthralled. "Oh, yes! I found some new information about what appears to be Superman's base of operations," you blurted out, making him pay close attention, but at the same time, he seemed surprised.
"So what did you find out?" he asked, interested.
"Wait, I've got it right there…" You opened a drawer you kept locked with a special combination and opened a dossier where you had compiled said information. "Here," you indicated, approaching him to show it to him. "I think this is where he conducts research for his missions," you said, pointing to a huge ice fortress.
"Where did you get these photos?" "—he murmured, holding them firmly in his hands
"LexCorp published them this morning" you explained "It seems Luthor has managed to get close enough to the base of the "alien," as he calls it"
"Well, actually, he's right. He IS an alien," he blurted out, and you frowned at him.
"How do you know?" you questioned. "Do you know Superman?"
"Yes, we talk every day on FaceTime," he joked. "Of course I don't know him. Why would I?"
"I don't know," you realized then. "Do you think if I go over there and ask for an interview, he'll give it to me?"
"I have no idea. Maybe he's too busy, you know, saving the world and all that stuff heroes do."
"Very funny, Kent," you blurted out. "Seriously, do you think he'd talk to me?"
"I don’t see why not,” he whispered, his voice dangerously low. “You have the face of a person who can be trusted,” he said. “I’d let you interview me… if I were Superman, of course”
“Sure,” you narrowed your eyes for a moment before gathering all the photos and putting them back in the dossier. “Well, I’ll leave you to what you were doing. I’m… going to…”
“Yeah… I… should do it too…” he pointed at the computer with a shy smile. “I hope you get that interview, y/n.”
“Thanks, Clark. That… means a lot,” you whispered, giving a shy smile before sitting back down at your desk.

~three months later~
メ𝟶 A lot of text under cut 𝟶メ
Folks, I’m having a hard time finding the right words to express my gratitude. Three months ago, I had a vague idea for an easy oneshot—I’ve been working one of my hundred-hour weeks, and I realized that nothing feels more comforting than a warm, home-cooked meal after those long days. That’s how the Personal Chef AU was born. I immediately visualized Agatha at my place, but it was clear she wouldn’t have cooked. But Rio would have.
I never intended this story to become a thing in a separate universe. I started writing it as a oneshot, but it quickly became clear that this Agatha had too much to share for just one chapter. So, it turned into two chapters. Then three. I paused for a moment and looked around. I saw how many people fell in love with these versions of Agatha and Rio, and how many found comfort in this story. So, I just followed the flow, and three months later, it brought us here. Udonverse is now a series—something I’m truly invested in and want to write more of.
Since I’ve always written mostly for myself, it is so bizarre to me that the original fic has over twelve thousand hits. I don’t have a large following and don’t participate in any online discourses—my social media presence is basically nonexistent, so I don’t really promote anything. I never thought that something I wrote would attract so much traffic. While it may not appear as impressive as top-tier fic, it means a great deal to me.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for your interest, support, and especially feedback. It is only because of that feedback that this universe has become what it is today. I'm truly grateful to have the opportunity to share this story with you, and I feel incredibly blessed to be part of this journey.
— S.💜
[P.S. I’m approaching a meaningful milestone of reaching four thousand total kudos. Those familiar with my Tarot AU know that the number four holds special significance for me. I’ve been reflecting a bit, and I’d love to give back in a small way. Just a little token of appreciation to share my gratitude. When we reach 4k kudos, I’ll host a giveaway with an Agatha collectible. I’ll share more details once we get there!]
Me: *quietly going about my day*
Brain: Personal chef au—
Me: Stop. We are drafting chapter 10 of our tarot au.
Brain: —where Agatha is a busy business owner who cannot cook to save her life and hires a personal chef service. And Rio is her chef!
Me: Don’t do this to me😫
Brain: And Agatha no longer wants to stay at the office 24/7. She starts coming home at a reasonable hour to spend time talking to Rio. And Rio begins teaching her how to cook. And—
Me: You son a bitch😭

f!reader, she/her pronouns used, you work in the office’s sales and investment department, managing clients and closing deals, your VIP client gojo satoru ofc is down bad for you
“is he here again?” one of your coworkers whispers, eyeing the white haired man lounging in the waiting area.
“yeah”, the other replies with a nod. “he must be loaded. i mean, look at him — he’s buying land or property every other day”
“should we go see what he’s here for this time?”
a third chimes in, lowering her voice. “i already tried, but he said he’s waiting for her”
“oh, of course”, the first two say in unison, rolling their eyes. “he never wants to work with anyone else but her”
the man sitting across from them is gojo satoru — the head of the infamous and powerful gojo clan and, without question, one of the richest men in japan. he first walked into the office a month ago for a routine estate deal, but then… he saw you. since then, he’s been coming back almost daily — buying land, investing in companies, expanding his already ridiculous portfolio. but it’s never really about business, he doesn’t care about doubling or tripling his assets — every deal, every investment, it’s just an excuse to see you.
the office chatter cuts off the moment you step out of the meeting room, walking alongside a new client you had just finished discussing terms with.
“it was a pleasure meeting you” — the man says warmly, taking your offered hand but instead of shaking it, he lifts it to his lips and places a kiss on your knuckles. “i would be delighted to work with you”
you clear your throat, not exactly pleased with his actions, and retract your hand quickly while still maintaining a polite and professional smile as you nod. “likewise”
“may i have your number? just in case any details come up?”
“of course” you reply, and the two of you exchange business cards.
as the client exits, your attention shifts to a sharp tapping sound coming from the waiting area. there he is — gojo satoru — legs crossed, one foot thudding impatiently against the floor while the other on top swings, arms folded tightly across his chest, his usual carefree demeanor nowhere to be seen. he’s clearly not pleased.
another man had just tried his luck with you, just like he once did. and chances are, just like him, that man will be back.
“i would be delighted to work with you” — satoru mutters under his breath, mimicking the client’s voice with exaggeratedly small voice. “yeah, right. my ass”
you can’t help but chuckle and walk over to him. “hello, mr. gojo”
he huffs, still pissed at the way that man kissed your hand. offering no greeting in return and no teasing grin as he usually does, he jumps straight to the point with a grumbled confession.
“you know, i’m a very jealous man”, he pauses, eyes still locked on the door your client just walked out of, before he continues — “i already don’t like the idea of that man calling or texting you”
you raise a brow as you take a seat beside him. “it’s business related”, you reply, though you’re not sure why you’re even giving him an explanation, let alone trying to calm him down.
“yeah? well, so was mine the first time, but look how that turned out”
you roll your eyes, fighting the smile tugging at your lips. “you mean you buying half the city just to keep showing up here?”
“exactly” he leans back, spreading his arms along the top of the couch like he owns the entire building — which, at this point, wouldn’t surprise you. “you’re a dangerous woman. all professional and focused until suddenly i’m out here investing in organic rice farms just for a reason to see you”
you laugh. “is that why you wanted to meet me today?”
he shrugs. “who knows? maybe i suddenly care a lot about sustainable agriculture”
“you’re ridiculous”, you snort.
“and you’re unreal”, his tone a bit more teasing now. “i swear you could get on my nerves every day and i’d still thank the universe for putting you in my life”
“huh?” you blink.
“i’m serious”, he says, voice dropping low, eyes locked on yours. “you driving me crazy, making me jealous, acting like this is just business — you could keep doing that for the rest of my life. because the most beautiful woman on earth getting on my nerves? that’s an honor.” he pauses for half a second, then leans in, “but i need to make you mine — officially”
“what are you—“
before you can finish, he cuts you off. “we can go pick a ring right now” he says casually like he’s offering to go grab some coffee. “i’ve already got five jewelers on speed dial. we’ll go full sparkle because you deserve nothing less”
you just stare at him in disbelief, torn between laughing and checking to see if he’s actually joking.
“what?” he grins. “don’t look so shocked. i told you from the start that i don’t do things halfway, especially not when it comes to you”
you’re not oblivious, of course. you’ve known for a while now that gojo satoru has a thing for you. the way he always asks for you specifically, the over-the-top deals, the charming smiles paired with suspiciously timed visits — it is beyond obvious. though part of you always thought it was just a tiny, harmless crush. but now he’s suddenly talking about rings like you’ve already been dating for years and it’s the most natural progression.
okay, maybe, just maybe, calling it a tiny crush doesn’t really hold up when the man is out here casually buying half the city just for an excuse to see you.
you narrow your eyes at him, a smirk tugging at your lips. “you know, maybe before we start ring shopping we should try lunch first”
“lunch, huh?” satoru tilts his head, pretending to think.
you nod. “yeah. you know — small steps! a conversation that isn’t about land acquisitions or surprise proposals”
he leans in, his voice smug and sweet all at once. “would you freak out if i told you i already bought the ring?”
“no, you didn’t”
“yes, i did”, he says, completely unfazed. “it’s in my pocket”

ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ GONNA TAKE MY TIME. I HAVE ALL THE TIME ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ IN THE WORLD, TO MAKE YOU MINE. ㅤㅤ
cw # 18+ minors and cis-men do not interact, filth based on two nonnie requests that had me combusting, dom!camgirl-reader + sub!ellie, mutual masturbation, spit, fucking machine, reader is kinda rough and mean, mocking, degradation, slight spanks, finger fucking, use of toys (duh) tons of dirty talk, i may be forgetting things but nothing extremely weird. mutuals look away.
side note # first of all, i'm sorry. depeche mode's ultra cd makes me do stuff. crazy nonnies you have done it- i don't know if you guys are the same person, but you both fought this war with a sword and no shield, so this 3.3k word-nasty-piece of work? all yours. i must say i changed a few things like, there's no stream in the end but home-made porn? i've fallen for the sub!ellie propaganda and i'm rotting in the pits of hell with your ideas, do i care? no, i'm living for it, hope you enjoy too x // check out the fic directory!!
"i think you're doing it wrong," cocky bitch. you're mocking at her, teasing her choices while looking at her comfortably seated on the other side of the kitchen island — "there's also sugar and lemon in a mojito, baby. not just rum, mint and sparkling water."
baby.
the word sticks with ellie for a while as her cheeks gain a subtle shade of pink in response and she has to look at the drink she's re-making for the fourth time already trying to somehow make a half-decent mojito for you: it's never too late to know about her awful bartending skills.
"that's why it's not working out, love" you say again, holding the laugh in—. "you're missing the main ingredients."
"oh that makes sense," man. it's adorable. you find it adorable when you're invading her space as you stand behind her: are you drunk? is that it? ellie's been making you try drink after drink even when you scrunch your nose in disgust and laugh it out trying to be nice about the bad taste: it's neither too strong, too sweet or too minty "should i do it again?"
"yeah, you should" you breathe out making her feel your warm breath against her naked shoulder, and for a moment, ellie struggles to concentrate when your hand finds her waist, cold-silver rings that makes her shiver for a moment, "i'll be here to help you out with your poor sense of proportions."
"so you're a professional now huh?" she's been standing down the barrel of a gun for a while. playing this game she's sure is going to get her burnt without any control of it. "okay then. help me out."
it's almost an invitation. a dare cause you've been acting up like nothing happened already a week ago, like she didn't saw you on a live stream, like you didn't asked her to come over after being friends online for like a month or two cause you live in the same city she does.
friends is an understatement surely — but how do you call the girl ellie's been masturbating to the last six months? how do you explain the insane amount of tokens she had to spend because she needed to get your attention to herself at least for a breach of seconds? that's not how you treat a friend.
things got messy when you begged her for a video call. and now that she's looking back at it while her hands work on auto-pilot, ellie should've know that the thin line of just talking was going to be fuzzy as ever.
what was she thinking about when she talked to you for the first time? that she would have it under control? it seems inevitable when ellie's sliding in your dm's like she already belonged in your life from the beginning. flirty texts, some deep conversations and all suddenly? you're giving her your personal number, video-chatting almost every day until last week when your face's popping up on her phone after a rough session of exercise, and it's all the combination to be a massive disaster.
the adrenaline rush hits hard, cause you got ellie staring at the sweat that comes down your neck, clearing her throat like she just smoked the whole pack of cigs still guarded on her black jacket — she's saying something about your hair looking good, you're blatantly flirting back, showing her your cute attire for working out before a comment about your tits fucking slips from her mouth and that's all it fucking takes. all. it. fucking. takes.
"masturbate with me on a live stream," you're the first one to surrender when things got heated, pouting for her delight as you stare at your phone screen — "don't show your face if it makes you uncomfortable, it's just- god. such a good fucking view everybody needs to see what i'm claiming f'me, ells."
so her words stumble upon each other in search of an answer, twisted fantasies since she's damn weak at this point, begging to get all of you as she's changing her video-call to her laptop, making sure you're watching when she's unbuckling the belt around her blue jeans, letting it hang between her legs as own hand slides under the white tank top — "c'mon quick before i regret it, don't be greedy. let your horny fans know who you're touching yourself to."
no. ellie's not used to it. maybe that's why she's face red when you're live streaming the whole thing, when you're putting up a show for her and suddenly she's feeling no damn shame in touching herself from over her already wet underwear, rough voice as she encourages you to masturbate too, she don't care if she's being seen by what? 12k? 15k people? let the fucking tips keep coming.
"the lemon, ellie" you're biting on her shoulder as she lets out a moan in response, dragged again back to reality. fuck — did she just got hit by a sex memory? "what was that huh? you zoomed out."
"just thinking," she replies already embarrassed. being this close to you, having your teeth biting on her skin and leaving a damn mark: she brought this upon herself.
"what are you thinking of?" you curiously ask, chin resting against her shoulder before your hand find hers, directing her to take the lemon from the fruit basket "something nice?"
"yeah" something she forgets about it seems when her ass is pressing against your front and now she gets why ghost was such a big deal in the 90's "yeah it was nice."
now, to say the truth, ellie's been out in the blue for a while cause no, she never met you in real life before. yes, you live in her city, yes, you video-chat every day or so, but when you disappear after that until damn saturday night she doesn't really know what to do exactly.
"i miss you" you texted hours before the encounter — "you live too far from my place?"
it does not matter that in reality, it's a 45-minute-drive. ellie's there anyway. the sound of the vinyl constantly spinning on the turntable spiraling like she does when you're dictating her movements, and fuck's sake it's so damn hot it should be a crime cause there's nothing sexual about it, but your hand covers her when you're using the knife to cut the lemon in a half, and your fingers blend with hers as they squeeze the lemon right over the mojito, making the juice coat your fingers, go down ellie's arm and before she can think about it, she's looking at you from over her shoulder with glassy eyes, half-lidded and that smile that just screams fucking-shatter-me.
"i'm gonna kiss you now" you reply like a fair warning, falling for the erotic sight of her needy state "can i kiss you?"
so it's an sloppy kiss when ellie's able to nod, saliva blends on itself, teeth, desperation and need, makes the girl want it all to herself. you hold her jaw tightly, making her stay in the same spot, contorted and kissing you back like it's a religious experience that gets her closer to a divine force.
your fingers smell like lemon and the mojito seems long forgotten when your hand slide down the tank top she's wearing and ellie's letting you take control — shit. she fucking wants you to take control. she knew you would do her no good when she first talked to you already, know that you're dangerous and a hazard to her well-being when you're pushing the door of your bedroom among an explosion of words that make her blood boil.
"do you have any idea of much i've been thinking about you?" you ask, but ellie's already chaotic when her top's already falling to the floor "how much i missed you the last days i've been without you? fucking hell, i tried so hard to avoid it, ellie. it's simply not fair."
"no it isn't" she agrees with you, cause it's not. cause she cannot possibly be silent about it when you're touching her, impossible to have a little self-respect when she's letting you have it, a need that goes beyond from what your hands are able to grab and feel, "god- it fucking isn't."
it's better than any fantasy ellie had before, and the greater power in the universe knows how much she's been craving this, how long she's been acting up like a damn freak: avoiding her friends cause she wants to hear your voice, entire days with the damn sounds of your moans etched on her skin, marked like a tattoo among the moth in her arm — it's better than whatever dream she's been having lately when your mouth closes on the valley of her chest, making her skin shiver cause she can physically see the traces of saliva in her skin like a trophy, the tug on her underwear when you're biting on the fabric since it only getting in the damn way. annoying you.
it goes through her soul much like the devastating shred of the guitar who's capable of trespassing her entirely. you're so in control. so damn aware of yourself when ellie's already lost in this hazy cloud of lust, always in control and pulling her back to reality.
"shit you're so needy," you breathe out as she's blushing, the speckled freckles coming in contrast with the red that pops on her face — "i'm gonna take my time with you until you have no idea on where you end, and i begin to exist."
how does simple words can turn her on to this point of no return? the tone you use to admit, out loud, how willing you are to devastate her? must have know it when the most slutty moans escape from her parted lips: fucking tease. that's what you are when your fingers slide from under her classic jeans, when you notice how her underwear sticks sinfully to the outlines of her pussy just by touching, drenched, sticky, it already covers your hand by the slightest stroke.
"can i record this?" she can tell you're wrecked too, impatient by the unevenness of your voice. "for us. don't care about the site-"
"yes-" she's gonna turn fucking purple at some point when she's repeating it multiple times, already shaking her head in approval "yes please, record it- send me a copy- just fucking do it."
"you're such a whore" you pant, and before ellie can say anything, you're taking her phone to open up the camera icon and point the lenses back to her face "what was that? say it again."
"please" it makes ellie's cunt clench in response while your lips curve in a smile, pleased as you're using just a slight amount of force to push her right over the edge of your mattress — "please record it, send me a copy m'am. please."
"begging so quick already huh?" placing yourself between her parted legs, ellie's hand roam against your sides before you're making her look up, pulling on her hair to oblige her to stare at your eyes "beg so beautiful i might have to make you do it again."
your thumb trace the confines of her lips, cold skin before ellie's biting on the finger playfully — "please- i can't deal with any more teasing."
"okay then greedy. all fours then. i want you in all fours" you reply as the camera points at her, giving you the perfect look of ellie's face, how she seemed, for the first time, pleased to follow orders without putting up a fight. "leave the panties on."
and in the camera it looks so fucking hot you forget to keep her in the frame for a second, distracted cause your eyes scan the exposed skin; cause her body's like a halo that holds some sort of holiness when she's doing what you demanded: her cheek rests against your wrinkled duvet as her backside is up like a present ready to let you take whatever you want from her.
so you're grabbing her ass, squeezing the flesh in one hand as the other seemed to remember it's job while recording, giving a good image of your viewer's body as the lenses catch every detail you're missing out as a victim of the adrenaline.
"you're always this good at submitting? or is it me who's having the pleasure of seeing this?" you question, but at this point ellie cannot find the words to say something about how she's not submitting, even when in reality the spank you gave her makes her body go stiff for a moment, an involuntary gasp leaving her parted mouth in response. she has no face to lie to you. "talk to me, dummy. or have you forgotten how to speak properly?"
"uh please," she whines "don't do this to me."
"poor baby," you pout for a moment before a smirk pulls the corners of your lips back up — "can't handle a little teasing? really are an impatient little slut."
ellie's hand grip the covers beneath her when you're finally taking care of the ache she's so bad to control in between her legs, when you mumble something about her underwear sticking to her folds like glue, the white cotton already dampened as it reveals the pink color you're quick to stare at as your fingers slide right in the middle: sticky, coats your hand like its meant to land on it, makes you follow like the moth is drawn to the fire.
"breathe," you instruct when the camera points to ellie's cunt. grimy and so good as the video catches on the transparent strands of her arousal connected to your palm, how ellie's hips move ever so slightly in search for more friction, anything at all when your fingers perpetuate the torture in keeping her hanging on a thread "you'll thank me for this. i need you loose for the fucking machine."
she would like to investigate further, ask what-the-fuck you're talking about, but the only thing that comes out of her mouth when your fingers slide filling her drenched cunt, is a loud whine that puts her damn right under your control. roughly biting on her lips to somehow stiffen the sounds of how pathetic she already is under your hands, how her hips unbuckle on her own to follow the length of your digits splitting her open.
"oh fuck-" you moan slowly falling to pieces, sounds so damn inviting at this point—. "fuck you're so tight- so warm."
"more," there's a lewd sound that your fingers make when there're sinking in deeper inside her pussy and withdrawal almost entirely before slamming back in, in her moans and incoherent words to make you go faster, take more from what ellie's already presenting to you. "more, more- more."
it makes you laugh, and ellie's face already too red to keep on blushing as you mock her words — "more, more more. is it the only word you fucking know?"
she asked for it now that she's seeing the video back in your phone with you already invading her space. soft, lazy kisses against the crook of her neck. takes it like a champ when ellie can hear the mechanic sounds filling the air, irrupting the silence and her needy moans as you position the machine right next your waist, roughly moving her where you needed her to be.
"you look so fucking hot," ellie hears as she stares at the screen, blushing again like she's not already embarrassed from her previous behavior recorded on camera "do me a favor and spread yourself out, need to see your pretty hole."
she's quick to spread her ass-cheeks for you without a second thought, making you gather a good quantity of spit on your mouth to toss against her already abused opening, lubricating the entrance.
her moans drive you crazy, how could they not? ellie tries to muffle them but failing miserably before the tip of the silicone dildo kisses her entrance, using your free hand to guide her movements and push her against the fucking machine as the toy's already moving at a constant pace.
"make room for my cock," your hand slides down her spine, following the bones of ellie's column. the phone still points to her cunt greedily swallowing the blue color until it disappears inside. makes you dizzy at the sight—. "such a good girl taking my cock."
"s'too big, ah-too much" ellie whines, pressing her cheek against the mattress as you keep the pace of the machine in the slower level, making her gasp when you're the one with enough force to move her hips against the machine for her. "mff-good fuck."
"yeah baby, that's right keep talking to me" you encourage her as your fingers slowly make the machine go faster than before — "keep telling me how good my cock's making you feel. i'm all ears."
"stretching me out s'good" she's able to say as her brain's already combusting by itself. the mechanic sounds mixing already with her drenched cunt as the phone keeps recording right against ellie's entrance, giving you a hella good view when you're able to see the white-creamy-traces of her cunt already coating the dildo "ah-you're making me feel so full."
so as she rewatches the video recorded on her own phone, she's aware of the debased stated you reduced her. how saliva's coming down her parted lips to coat the bed you sleep in every day, glassy eyes already in the verge of tears cause the pleasure's so intense ellie could cry from the stimulation she has never felt before.
it's a bomb ticking her way back to zero. your fingers play with all the levels of the machine and ellie can see that you're enjoying it too, the red imprint of your hand on her ass, the way you're pushing her face against the mattress to have her arching her back in a better angle, to allow the dildo in reaching deeper levels even when her legs shake struggling to hold her own weight.
"shh, don't whine" you say on top of her when your fingers thread against ellie's hair, pulling it roughly. "don't whine, you asked for more remember? be a good fucking slut and take it good. you're there already."
damn right she is. she wants to be good for you. please you even when the machine's so fucking loud she cannot hear her own thoughts, when her brain's malfunctioning and its fucking leaking through her ear into your sheets — you're pushing her against the dildo, impaling her balls-deep in the silicone you keep calling your cock, and suddenly her vision's fading to black, blinded momentarily since she dissolves into lust and becomes one with the pleasure, you fucking win.
it's not a competition, it's not a game anymore. not when you're switching your attitude so fast got her confused for a second when all the roughness dissipates and you're pressing soft kisses against her back as she's coming down from her high — "you okay there, beautiful? was i too rough on you?"
"fuck- i think i need a moment to breathe- hold up a second."
the video comes to an end seconds after, but its there on ellie's memory like a poor movie with bad camera anglings. you're helping to lay in bed after, praising how she's basking under the glimmer of sex, placing soft kisses in the red marks you leave on her skin like a permanent reminder.
so ellie stays that night, cause you were right when you said it before.
you took your time with her until she has no damn idea anymore. until you make her torn cause even when she's looking at the video with you sleeping on her side all over again, she still have no idea on where you ended, and she begins to exist.
man. ellie knew it was no good.

Domesticity - Jack Abbot
pairing: jack abbot x doc!f!reader
summary: four times absolute love the domesticity of living with four women.
a/n: i was watching mamma mia and this idea came through my mind and now i’m crying cause it’s cute. in this scenario, Anna is 17, June and Emma are 13.
anywayyyy, sorry for any misspellings, english is not my first language. hope you enjoy! any comments are welcome!
ONE
The mundane and extraordinary aspects of living with women were the reasons Jack became a happier person, more inspired, and willing to live his life in a more fulfilling way.
Jack was accustomed to the noise of your house. There was always a song playing, singing, and gossiping. For him, the comfort of knowing that the darkness that once surrounded him was gone, replaced by the light of the people he loved the most, mattered more than he could explain.
He expected to come to a quiet house when he came through the door in the morning, but instead, he found you doing breakfast and the girls laughing while Emma rehearsed her school presentation for them before class. Jack felt the chaos and stress of his shift melt away while silently watching the scene unfold.
“I can’t do that if you keep laughing at me.” He chuckled, seeing your face to the two girls.
“We aren’t laughing at her, it’s cute she’s nervous around us, but if you put her on the stage with a microphone, she’s a different person.” June tried to make a point and you shot her the same look you give to Jack when pisses you off. “Our own Hannah Montana.”
Even tho Emma and June weren’t Jack’s biological daughters, he knew them even before they were born when you were pregnant in your resident years, but he loved the girls like his own. They loved him for all the right reasons, and he never treated them with any less love. June could always count on Jack to help her practice for games, cheering and acting like a real father, and Emma knew Jack would listen to her endless musical rehearses in the car, being present at every event she would sing.
Anna felt the same about you. When you met Jack, she was four years old and had lost her mother recently. You never tried to steal her mother's place; everybody was aware of it. But you were there for every little thing. School plays, birthday parties, and teenage years. Fulfilling a part of her life that was missing, always remembering her late mother with honour and respect.
When you and Jack (finally) started dating, after a few years of yearning, she was so happy that it finally happened. It wasn’t a surprise you liked each other; the more you denied it, the more complicated the situation became until you both admitted it.
“If you’re worried about impressing us, you shouldn’t.” You caressed her hair, “Jack still gets nervous when he’s working next to me. That’s why I’m the smarter one in this marriage.”
“Ouch.” Jack finally entered the kitchen, pretending to be upset by your words.
“You called the patient by the wrong name four times two nights ago just because I was in the same room, Jack.” You shook your head, pouring yourself more coffee.
“That’s peak romance, mom.” Anna giggled, nodding her head.
Anna started calling you mom a few years after your marriage to Jack. She was so afraid of you rejecting her that when it came out first, she froze, and you cried a lot. It means so much to you that she trusted you enough to call you mom, a place you needed to earn, and you do.
“In my defense, you were looking hot, covered in blood, and bossing me around.” You rolled your eyes, and he laughed, kissing your cheek. “My brain doesn't work around hotties, by hotties I mean you.”
“It’s seven in the morning, c'mon guys!” June pretended to be disgusted, covering her eyes.
“You shouldn’t be going to school right now?”
“We wanted to wait for you to let you know that we may have a girls' night friday.” Jack poured himself some coffee and leaned over the counter next to you.
“Friday? The same day your mom and I have a shift together?” He raised his eyebrows, and the three girls nodded at the same time.
“Musical night. All the girls had already agreed.” Anna blew you two a kiss before they all left the room together. “And! We’ll clean before you even come back.”
“Do we have a choice?” He asked you, speechless about the conversation he just had. “A lot of girls will be sleeping in our living room while we work. I don’t think we need to worry about a thing.”
“I don’t think so.” You touched his shoulder, laughing quietly. “Anna’s going to college soon, we should have her do that, make some memories with her sisters. It's going to be good for them.”
“You’re right, we just pray that they don’t burn the house.”
Friday night, you two ended up in your living room full of girls dressed up as musical icons, a microphone, snacks and a lot of glitter. You held his hand and left the house faster than a bullet while their friends started to sing to you and your husband.
TWO
Jack was an insomniac. You knew it, the girls knew it, even the cat was accustomed to it.
Maybe it was because of his work or ‘cause his mind never fully stops.
He enjoyed the quietness, the peace of the home when no one was awake. He spent hours lying in bed just watching you sleep peacefully, how messy your hair was, legs tangled around him, the warmth of your body cuddled in him. He loved the idea that you needed him around even in your sleep.
When he didn’t want to stay in bed, he quietly left the bedroom and stayed in the living room. Sometimes he would stay at the back porch, reading or just watching the quiet. His only companion was your cat, who despises him when you’re around, sleeping soundly between his tights. But sometimes he encountered Emma, quietly making space for herself at the armchair facing the stars outside.
“Bad dream?” Jack put on his readers, holding the book you bought him the other day.
“Couldn’t sleep.” She sighed, looking at him.
He saw you in Emma. The messy hair, puffy eyes, the traces of her pretty face, and cranky voice, exactly like yours when you don’t sleep nicely. She was holding a book too, looking a little ashamed for being caught awake this late at night.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He made his way to the couch next to her, leaning the crutches on the floor.
“It’s not a big deal.”
“If you’re awake at three in the morning, it’s a big deal.”
Jack loved being a girl's dad. He never fully understood how he was going to raise a girl, be a man and at the same time, protect her from the madness of the world. His heart aches every time he thinks about not being the person his kids needed him to be at the right moment.
Thankfully, he always was. He’s the one all of his girls call when something is not right. He’s the person you call when the world seems to disappear from your feet.
“There’s this guy, he’s friends with June.” Jack raised his eyebrows, watching the girl. “We’ve been talking for a while now, and I told him I liked him and ran away.”
“Oh, Em.” He reached out for her hand. “You think he likes you back?”
“I don’t know,” Emma admitted, looking embarrassed. “He called me cute the other day, gave me his jacket when I needed to run to Anna’s car in the rain, and he kept texting me to know if I’m alright. He sent me flowers the other day.”
“When I met your mother a few years ago, I used to get so nervous around her that I put her in triage for a few weeks to not be around her, just the sound of her voice was enough to make me dizzy.” He laughed at himself. “I realized I was in love with your mother when she went on a date with another guy, and I panicked at the idea of her being in love with somebody else.”
“Really?” She asked.
“Definitely. I did things I’m not proud of before telling her how I feel, and I’m glad for finally saying something ‘cause look where we are today.”
“Thanks for that, I needed to hear this.”
“If he won’t treat you right, you can tell me and I will proudly try to scare him.” Emma laughed, nodding her head. “Besides, your mom can be intimidating when she’s mad.”
“You remember Disney World, right?” Jack chuckled, letting her hand go.
“You should see her working doubles, that’s scary.”
THREE
You were lying on top of Jack while the movie played in the background. Neither of you was paying attention, too invested in being close. His hands rested underneath your shirt, pulling you closer to him as your face was buried in his neck.
The girls weren’t home, and after two glasses of wine, you couldn’t contain the excitement in your voice while you spoke. Jack found it funny how the idea of enjoying each other's company involved takeout, wine, and some movie you’ve lost interest the minute his hands were on you.
You got too excited about being alone with your husband after a few days of working nonstop, when the front door opened, revealing three girls laughing. Immediately, you sat down looking like teenagers who got caught in the worst possible moment. Jack was flustered, your hair was messy and your blouse was unbuttoned.
“We had the most amazing night today!” June exclaimed, walking towards the other couch with her sister beside her.
“Really sweetie? Where did you go?” You asked, leaning against Jack, holding his hand, and trying to look like a normal parent, like you weren’t on each other seconds ago.
“We went to that Twilight drive-in we told you about and got some cookies in that new place next to the hospital,” Anna said, watching you with a funny face. She knew what you were up to. “How was your night?” Jack squeezed your hand slightly, noticing what his daughter was doing.
“We were watching a movie, had sushi for dinner and some wine. Nothing new.” You imagined you sounded cool, but in reality, you didn’t.
“I can see that your night was funny by your hair.” Anna crossed her arms, looking away to laugh.
“Disgusting, guys! Really?” Emma and June got up instantly. while Jack burst out laughing.
“You weren’t even here, girls. Don’t be that dramatic.”
“Dramatic? Dad, you have a hickey on your neck!” Anna screamed, making her sisters gasp.
“I think I’m killing myself after this.” June pretended to pass out.
“We never had the chance to do anything.” Jack had a smug smile on his lips, making you blush as he watched your face. “In this hour.” He whispered to you.
“We thought you’d come home later.” You admitted, crossing your arms.
“I need therapy after this.” Anna sat in the armchair, snickering at the situation she created.
“The worst thing that can happen is another child.”
“Jack!” You smacked his arm, resting your head on his shoulder.
Slowly, the girls stopped teasing you two and got comfy around the couch, pulling some blankets over them and eventually falling asleep without the movie ending. Your family was chaotic, but Jack couldn’t imagine his life without this anymore.
FOUR
The house was awfully quiet when Jack walked in. He looked at his watch, trying to understand why the a sudden silence. He found you and Emma in the kitchen baking some cookies, the ones you did only when something bad happened. You looked at him with a worried look, and he immediately felt something was off.
“What happened?” He asked, looking at his daughter.
“Emma and June are sick. They’ve been throwing up and with a fever since last night.” You speak, putting the cookies in the oven. “Heather came here with Dana to medicate them; they’re sleeping now.”
“Why didn’t you bring them to the ER last night?” Jack’s voice was a little mad, and you couldn’t blame him.
“Four traumas, Jack. They needed you, and I am a doctor too.” Emma looked at both of you, leaving the room. “I am pretty capable of making decisions about our kids' health.”
“What if something bad happened when you’re not looking?” You pointed to the baby’s monitor next to you.
“I’m always watching them, and I haven’t slept since the first symptom.” Jack tried to be reasonable about the situation.
He hates it when the girls get sick and he isn’t around. He felt impotent and frustrated; he couldn’t help like a real father, feeling anxious and preoccupied. The last time that happened, he hadn’t been able to work until he went back home to be with his girls.
“Dana and Heather came over? You should’ve called me.” He was pretty upset and his face was giving him away.
“Jack, I tried to call you, and then I called Ellis and she told me you had four active traumas.” You knew he was annoyed when he just passed you in the kitchen, going straight to the girls’ room.
To his surprise, he found Anna and June intertwined in bed, covered in the coziest blanket you've ever owned. The nightside had two cups of water and some painkillers that your friends brought earlier. He came closer to them, slowly feeling the heat of their foreheads, watching them relieved that they’re fine.
He went back to the kitchen to find you having a cup of tea, eyes closed, and your back resting on the chair. You noticed him before he said a word. You were exhausted, and you had a migraine. Jack approached you slowly, touching your shoulder before sitting down next to you.
“One of the traumas involved three girls. Sisters.” He states, making you look at him. “I almost froze, it reminded me so much of them, and when I got home, you told me they’re sick.” You reached out for his hand. “I’m sorry I was an asshole.”
“It’s fine, Jack.” He put his hand on yours. “Go take a shower and sleep a little.”
“I’m good, honey. Go rest, I’m not tired at all.” He reassured you. “Emma is awake and we can watch a movie while the girls don’t wake up.”
“You sure?” He nodded. “Alright.” Jack kissed your cheek, hugging you tightly before you walked away to your bedroom.
Jack admired you for all the things you already know, but he loved how you were always true to your words. He knew you hadn’t slept, he knew you paced around the kitchen in silence the whole night to not disturb Emma, and he was pretty aware of how you held the girl's hair when they were in the bathroom. He wished he were more like you every day, strong and tough.
You, on the other hand, wished you were more like him. He had no idea how many times you cried during the night, holding the girls, reassuring them, and trying not to break down more. You wanted to be cool like him, calm in the moments you couldn’t.
When you woke up, your girls were nestled into you, safe and protected. They looked better, less pale, and by the smell of their hair, Jack must’ve helped them take a shower. You leave them in bed and go upstairs to find your husband making dinner quietly.
“Hey, sleepyhead. How did you sleep?” He asked, looking at you with a bright smile.
“I sleep well. How do the girls behave?” You sat down, watching him.
“They woke up a few hours ago, I gave them more medicine, Emma helped them shower and they wanted to sleep with you, so I let them.”
“They looked pretty cozy wrapped around each other.” You comment, resting your head on your hand.
“We can let them sleep in our bedroom and watch something later.”
“You just want an excuse to sleep on me, Abbot.” He laughed, looking offended.
“It’s not my fault you’re comfortable sleeping.” Jack put the knife down, glancing at you, “Besides, the ring on your finger kinda allows me to do that.”
“You’re trouble, Jack.”
“And you love me too much.”

POST PRODUCTION ・・・・・・・・・
What: 5 Headcanons of Tenna X Reader
Who: Tenna, from Deltarune (By Toby Fox)
How Much: ~1500 Words, ~8 mins
Credits: Image Banner -> Toby Fox, Divider -> @strangergraphics
Warnings: None
Tenna is a textbook overworker and near-constant entertainer. He is often seen giving 200% effort to just about anything he does, and that includes courting you. Before you were even sure that he was interested, he was haphazardly leaving binders full of minigame ideas lying around, some of which were... suspicious. Sometimes you'd take a peek when he was out of the room, and they'd all be related to things you had mentioned liking in passing. Like fish? There's a crudely-drawn blueprint for a fishing minigame. Did you once say that you always enjoyed those carnival games where you throw a ball to knock a stack of bottles over? It's present in the roster, verbatim. You pretend that you weren't doing anything when Tenna returns in a hurry and grabs one of his binders off the table before urgently hurrying off. You don't think you'll tell him, just to spare him the potential embarrassment. "No need to hold in a LAUGH around me! I know I'm funny!" If only he knew.
Tenna often runs around trying to please you when he's not busy with his show. He always brings you coffee in the mornings--despite his showman flair, it is not smooth nor cute. It is frantic. He sprints to the cafe and bursts inside, leaning on the counter from exhaustion as he orders a coffee with the cadence of a man begging for his life. "Yes--yes, they like it with that lavender foam on top, they say they don't when I ask because it costs more that way, but I know they like it, I KNOW these things, please HURRY UP THEY'RE GONNA BE BUSY ALREADY IF YOU DON'T BREW FASTER! DON'T... DON'T YOU KNOW I OWN YOUR CONTRACT?!" He swipes it out of the hands of the Shadow Man working the counter and bolts to where you are, not noticing that he's slowly shrinking as he starts to doubt his timing and his memory. It was lavender, wasn't it? By the time he reaches you and skids to a stop, he's shorter than half your size. "H-hey, looks like I caught you just in time! I got a coffee for you." When you thank him and ask him how he knew exactly what you liked, he lets out a long sigh of relief as he slowly regains his size. "That's what you got two weeks ago, obviously. Oh, is this a memory game? I'll have you know I'm highly skilled!" You tell him that if he wants to get you a coffee, he doesn't have to pay extra for that sort of flavoring... You'd be happy with whatever he got for you. In fact, you'll get him one next time. "...Is that so. Ha! OK! Well! I'll take you up on that! Anyways, heh, the show's not gonna run itself!" The Hope-O-Meter is filled to the brim with fireworks.
TV Time's host is pretty horrible at hiding his adoration for you, yet at the same time, he'd never come out and confess. You think it's probably because he's worried that you'll say no (you wouldn't). His underlings feel kind of bad for him and try to clue you in as if you didn't already know. In passing, a Shadow Man tells you, "Da Boss really likes ya, if it wasn't obvious already. I don't really see why, but I'm into flatter folks anyhow. Either way, he's never gonna tell ya, so you may as well rip da bandaid off. Or make his day." You start thinking about how to best return his affections without scaring him away. He's obviously terrified of rejection, so you'll have to be subtle about it. As you walk away, lost in thought, a nearby Pippin chatters with the Shadow Man who encouraged you. "The boss is alright and all, but he can be a little scary sometimes, can't he?" The Shadow Man nods. "Yeah, but he's on his best behavior when they's around. I think we'll be in da clear once they's together."
You call Tenna to tell him to meet you in person so you can share some ideas that you came up with for his show. Little did you know, he was just ending a game show segment when you called, his antennae intercepting the signal you sent out. He paused for a moment before offering a comedic aside to the crowd. "When I said 'phone a friend', I didn't mean me!" The audience let out a short bout of laughter as Tenna listened to the signal. He gasped. "Oh! This call is--Them. They want to meet... with me?" The crowd responded with a conspiratorial "ooh". Tenna turned to the crowd and blushed. "Hey! Um, thanks for the vote of confidence, folks, but show's over! I gotta get going! Thanks for tuning in to TV Time! OK, see you next time!" After an animated wave, the show's host was quick to draw the curtains and leap off the stage to go meet with you. You're set up at a table when Tenna finds you, and he's eager to settle his giant body into the a chair which is hilariously small by comparison before twiddling with his thumbs anxiously. "It's so good to see my GREATEST fan again! I'm kind of surprised that you remembered my frequency." Of course you remembered! You also mention that you saw his show today and that it was as riveting as it always was. Tenna seemed to glow a little brighter and fill a little more space after you said that. You then, perhaps in a moment of mischief, asked why the crowd thought it was so funny that you were calling him. "W-wha? I mean, pheh, how should I know!? They're WILDer than TV Times's WILDest prizes, that lot! My fans, ever hungry for RIVETING drama! They're obviously a little... heh, mistaken? On our... relationship?" Tenna gritted out the last part like he was testing dangerous waters. You said that the audience didn't sound mistaken at all as you reached out and squeezed his cartoonishly gloved hand. You liked him a lot. It's why you wanted to see him today. "You--you're not saying--you're--your hand--whoah mama!! You're not saying...?!" You are. You think you're in love with him. He has no idea how to react to you returning his affections. He's elated. He's terrified. "I'm reeling from the feeling!! I--I still don't have those minigames for you done yet! What am I doing?! I bet I'm looking so glooby right now! And the video game isn't ready for you yet, and I still have to--" You shush him and say that he doesn't need to prepare all this stuff to get you to want to be with him. He just needs to bring himself. Tenna gingerly takes your hands in his, which are huge compared to yours, as his screen flickers off with seriousness. "...Okay! Okay. Just myself..." A pause, and then an anxious whisper. "I really want to believe that I can do that."
So, you and the host of TV World are dating now. A lot of it is old hat; even though Tenna acknowledges your sentiment that he's good enough on his own, he's very much a textbook people-pleaser and overworker. You don't work for him, nor are you really a cohost for him, since he asked you if you would want to be and you said no. Before he could shrink, you specified that nobody could do a better job than just him, and he seemed to be OK after that. Still, you tune into every show that he does, and you swear you're not a narcissist, but you're pretty sure you keep finding Easter Eggs referencing you just about everywhere. If you have a favorite accessory you're always carrying around, expect it to appear in some form within a TV Time bumper. Tenna often uses brief asides to allude to you and lightheartedly brag about "winning" you. "Isn't love a WONDERFUL thing?! (I would know, after all!) Luckily, that's the subject of this next quiz: Romance! I'd be a bad host if I didn't know the answers, wouldn't I?" (Which is hilarious--aren't you the one who got lucky?) If you have a theme song, the show's little jingles have your motif in them. And if you ever show up as a contestant? There will be bias--safety nets which don't exist for the others and made-up rankings that Tenna ad-libs on the spot. "I've never seen a score so high! You get... Gamma Rank! I know you don't get paid, but if you did, you'd deserve a rays! Anyone? Anyone?" At the end of the show, the truth is that you won the greatest prize of all, and the love that you both scored is enough to give Tenna the strength to just... be. You both find each other perfect, no post-production needed.
A/N: The day has come to post something unrelated to ENA. A return to form is in order, no worries; I just wanted to make something for this guy. I like him. I... relate to him? I'd be down to write more for him... Honk.

𝐌𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝'𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝
⋆˚࿔Paige Bueckers x reader ❀˖°
Summary: Azzi’s been one of your best friends since you were a kid. Transferring to UConn was not easy, but having your best friend by your side made it better. That is until you meet a familiar pair of blue eyes that Azzi makes you swear is off-limits.
“Azzi, I can’t do this no more,” you said, pausing to take a long breath out of exhaustion. “Too many boxes.”
Azzi pushed the last box into your new dorm room behind you. Transferring from UMiami to UConn was not what you had in mind a year ago, but after finishing your sophomore year, you knew you needed something different, even if you didn’t want to leave the beautiful Florida beaches behind. When Azzi brought up the idea of you transferring to UConn, at first you didn’t consider it, but waking up every day to a text from your best friend giving you a reason to why you should transfer to her school may have been enough to convince you.
“It’s your fault for packing up this much shit.” She opens up one of the boxes beside you and reaches for an old psychology textbook. “I mean why are you bringing shit like this with you? You’re not even majoring in psychology.”
You take the book away from her, earning a laugh in return. “You never know when you might need it. Besides, this has all of my old notes in it from when I took psychology freshman year…it could be useful.”
Azzi plops onto your new bed, putting her hands behind her head as she lies down. “You call it useful, I call it hoarding.”
Slightly offended at her joke, you take a pillow from the floor and throw it at her. “Watch your mouth, Fudd.”
Azzi catches the pillow with ease and holds it in her lap. “On that note, I’m glad you’re here.”
“Me too,” you say, smiling at her. You cross your arms over your chest. “At least now I can finally see you ball in person.”
Azzi let out a laugh that proved your point. “Perfect timing now that I’m cleared to play, don’t you think?”
“You calling me your lucky charm or what?” You send a playful wink and Azzi being Azzi, she blushes before rolling her eyes.
“Stop fucking flirting with me.”
You burst out laughing. “Azzi, babes you need to work on your game,” you say between laughs. “And I’m not talking about ball.”
Azzi could practically get her eyes stuck in the back of her head from the amount of times she was rolling her eyes at you. “You always do this. Enough.”
“It’s not my fault my best friend is so hot,” you continue laughing. “I know I’m not the only one flirting with you.”
“I swear you’re just like Paige,” she says under her breath just enough for you to hear it.
“Paige…like your teammate Paige? From USA basketball camp?”
Azzi meets your eyes and nods. “Yeah, she’s a freak. Always says she’s got ‘top rizz in the world’ or something like that,” she puts her fingers up in air quotations. “She somehow got worse from high school.
“That’ll be crazy to see.” You’ve heard of Paige Bueckers. Who hasn’t? You remember when Azzi first brought her up after competing with her for team USA back in high school. The first time you met Paige was when she flew to Virginia to visit Azzi during her state championship and Katie had you two meet. She definitely made her presence known back then, especially at Azzi’s games, yelling at the refs and constantly bumping into your shoulders.
You remember one night specifically when it was Azzi’s birthday party and when everyone went to sleep, you and Paige went out on a late Taco Bell run because there was no more pizza left. That was the first time you had a real conversation with the blonde girl. And you weren’t oblivious; you noticed when her gaze lasted on you for more than it should’ve. And she always noticed when yours lasted on hers too long. And when you leaned in a little more than you should have; and she mirrored your action.
The last time you saw Paige Bueckers as a friend, you had just received your decision letter from UMiami and had gone to Azzi’s house to open the letter. You remember screaming and jumping with Azzi and her family when you read that you had been accepted. Paige had walked up to you to congratulate you on your admission with a fist bump. The touch was electric and you swore that for five minutes after, you could still feel her knuckles against yours.
Hours later after dinner with the Fudd’s, you walked out of their house to get into your car when you heard footsteps behind you.
“Yo, wait.”
You turn around, seeing Paige in front of you. “What’s up?”
“I’m very happy for you. Miami seems cool.”
You furrow your eyebrows, confused as to why she stopped you to say this again when she had said it earlier. “Thanks. Good luck at UConn.”
“Thanks,” she says and pauses, looking as if she was contemplating her next sentence. “Is this the last time I’m seeing you?”
You shrug, “I don’t know. If you ever visit Azzi during breaks, then you’ll probably see me.”
“And if I don’t want to wait until breaks?”
You were taken back. “What?”
“Like when Azzi comes to UConn, which she will, you’ll come visit?”
You shrug again. “Depends on how things go.”
“I’ve actually been wanting to say something to you since that night at Taco Bell.” She looked down at the ground before looking back up at you.
“Okay.”
“Look, what we did…I just want you to know that you kinda been on my mind since.”
You nod slowly. “It’s really hard to take you seriously when you refer to it as ‘that night at Taco Bell.’”
Paige lets out a low laugh. “What would you call it then?”
“Call it what it is. We made out in your car that happened to be parked in the Taco Bell parking lot.”
Paige smiles. “So you’d be down to do it again then?”
“Don’t tell Azzi.”
“Deal.”
“How is Paige?” You ask Azzi, pretending as if you’re just making normal conversation but really, you’re waiting to hear the information you’ve known since you cut things off with Paige.
Azzi shrugged. “Annoying as fuck, ego through the roof, always laughing. So basically the same since you last saw her.”
“Yeah, she’s grown into a bit of a celebrity hasn’t she?”
“Yeah. Have you seen the edits?”
You nod.
“You know what, I should text Paige. Let her know you transferred,” she says, taking out her phone. “I’m sure she’ll be stoked to see you.”
Your eyes widened. “I’m sure she’s busy enough.”
Azzi shook her head. “No she’s not, trust. She asks about you sometimes.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, but I just tell her to text you since she has your number.” Azzi continues to text on her phone, not looking up at you once.
“Like I said, probably busy.”
Azzi puts her phone down after she finishes her text. “One thing I want to talk to you about though.”
“Yeah?” You meet her gaze and bite your lip, waiting to see what she’ll see.
“Paige is a bit different,” she tells you. “I don’t know what happened but after she graduated and came here, she became a bit of a fuckboy. So, if she flirts with you or anything like that, don’t think too much into it because she now flirts with everything with a heartbeat.”
“That’s…interesting,” you comment, knowing the answer as to why she changed. “Out of curiosity, what do you think happened?”
Azzi shrugged. “Don’t tell her I’m telling you this but the Summer before she left for UConn, I think she had a girlfriend or something. She started getting like secretive as fuck and more happy in a way. Then after she left for college, I think they broke up because she was in a slump and started hooking up with girl after girl.”
“Do you know who the girl was?”
Azzi shook her head. “Not at all, but I do know that she broke Paige’s heart. So I automatically hate her by default.”
If only she knew that girl was standing right in front of her.
“Azzi I told you I don’t want to go out tonight,” you argue, trying to walk back to your dorm.
Azzi’s hand grabs yours and pulls you into step with her. “No, you need to make more friends and I want you to meet the rest of my team.”
“Maybe another time,” you continue to argue. This was the moment you had been dreading when you knew that Azzi would eventually drag you out to see her teammates. More specifically, Paige.
“No, you’re going.”
Azzi opens the door to Ted’s and waits for you to walk in before she does. You immediately scan the bar, looking for the tall blonde and your skin immediately started to crawl when you realized she was nowhere in sight. She should be here, you thought to yourself. This is her place, why isn’t she here?
You tried to convince yourself that you wanted nothing to do with her after you chose to walk away from her, but deep down you knew that was a load of bullshit. You just needed to see her.
“Azzi, over here!” A voice called out from over the loud music in the bar. Both you and Azzi looked over to your left being met with a table full of girls, some of which wearing UConn merchandise. You had recognized some of them from when Azzi would post them on Instagram.
Azzi grabbed your hand and pulled you over to the table. Still there was no sign of Paige.
“This is Y/n,” Azzi said as she introduced you to her teammates. “She just transferred from Miami.”
You take a small step behind Azzi, meeting the eyes of all the tall girls who sat there looking at you. “Hi.” Was all you could say because even though Paige wasn’t there, you could practically feel her presence in the air. And that put you even more on edge.
“Girl boo, why you so nervous?” A girl who you recognized from Azzi’s instagram walked to stand beside you, draping an arm over your shoulder. “Azzi been talking shit behind our backs or something?”
“KK, can you not?” Azzi laughs over the loud music and grabs a drink that was sitting on the table. “You’re going to scare her off.”
“How can we scare her off? She’s already friends with you,” KK retaliates and the entire table erupts in laughter.
“KK that’s so mean.” A girl who you learn to be Aubrey, says.
After a while you begin to let loose, taking the drinks that Azzi keeps offering you, knowing that at any moment she could show up and you wanted to be drunk for it. It wasn’t a surprise that the team took you in as if you were one of their own and Azzi couldn’t be happier that you had acclimated so quickly.
You felt like you’ve been at Ted’s for days, dancing and drinking so much that you felt as if your entire body could explode within a matter of seconds. You normally weren’t much of the party type, even back in Miami. Sure, you had your fair share of frat and sorority parties but you never stayed for more than a few hours, and it helped that your roommate wasn’t that much into the party scene either.
“So what are you studying?” KK asks you as she sips on a coke.
It takes a while for her words to register with you as your head is being pulled in a million different directions. “Um,” you start, shaking your head as the music somehow gets louder. “Switched from psychology to business my sophomore year.”
KK’s eyes widened slightly. “Period. That’s a huge switch girl.”
You nod, “Yeah, uh…” You can’t feel your head. You can’t organize your thoughts. It’s all too much. You squint your eyes and make eye contact with her. “If you see Azzi, tell her I’m going to get some fresh air. I’ll be right back.”
“O-okay,” KK said with a concerned expression, making you waste no time in heading towards the bar’s exit.
As soon as you feel that air rushing to you, you were finally calming down. You took this moment to ground yourself and lean against the wall of the bar, catching your breath. She’s not coming, no reason to freak out. You grab your phone to check the time, seeing that it was only 11:30 p.m. You shut your eyes, feeling yourself becoming even calmer.
A car door slams about a couple hundred feet away from you and the hair on the back of your neck immediately stands up.
“I told you I didn’t want to come here tonight. Is it so hard to understand that I just wanted to spend time with you alone?” A high-pitched voice echoes through the air.
“And I told you we could have done that any other day. Just not today.” That sounds familiar.
“Why? What’s so special about today that you have to come to Ted’s?” The girl seemed so pissed you could have sworn she would have left by now.
That familiar voice sounded irritated. “Team’s here and I want to hang with them.”
“You see them everyday.”
“Please baby?”
Just look up and open your eyes.
“Fine but you owe me.”
What sounds like a kiss makes it’s way to your ears, making you almost gag on instinct. “I’ll make it up to you, don’t worry.”
And that’s when you look up and see the tall blonde you have been dreading to see since you arrived in Connecticut. Everything about her was still so perfect. How was that even possible? Those hands you had held, lips you had kissed, arms you’ve been in. The smiles she would give you. It all came rushing back in that instant. Azzi was right, she looked just fine out here without you. You convinced yourself that you would be better without her, finding someone new and moving on. Only in this moment, you realized that she had moved on with someone else and you were stuck right back in the place you had started.
And when her eyes glance up as she’s about to walk into the bar and locks with yours, it’s enough to make her stop in her tracks and make her arms fall to her sides. It’s enough to make you wonder if she really was just fine. You can’t look away and neither can she. Her body tells you that she’s different. That she doesn’t know you anymore. But her eyes tell you that she’s the same girl from senior year. The same girl from the late night drives and secret makeouts. The same girl who told you to come to UConn with her before you left.
You wake up with a pounding headache, feeling groggy and uncomfortable as you shifted to get out of bed. You pick up your phone which is filled with missed messages from Azzi.
Where you at?
KK said you went out for air but you never came back. U ok?
Should I be sending out a search party for you?
Paige just got here and said she didn’t see you outside.
Didn’t see you? That bitch. You were all she could see for maybe five whole fucking minutes. You text Azzi back: sorry had a pounding headache so went back to the dorm. Sad I missed her, maybe next time.
You put your phone back down to change into a new outfit, figuring the best way to distract yourself from Paige would be to go to the dining hall and eat. After getting changed, you grab your phone and walk out of your dorm room, locking it behind you. When you turn back around, you’re met with a tall body in front of you from across the hall.
“Y/n.” Paige is standing in front of you, hair messy and sweatpants just a bit lower than her waistline, exposing the band of her boxers. It was clear to you where she was coming from. And just your luck that you would be living across the hall from her fuckbuddy.
You wanted to scream at her. For what? You had no idea. You wanted her to feel how you felt last night. Every piece of it. So you may have said the most stupidest response you could have ever said at that moment. “Do I know you?”
Her head tilted slightly, the smallest flash of hurt in her eyes. She bites her lip before responding, “You can’t be serious.”
“You should pull up your pants, fuckboy isn’t a good look on you.” And all you do is walk away, leaving her there in the hallway because even though you want to talk to her, you have to move on now. And she needed to know that.
We need to talk.
You don’t get to be upset with me.
You put your phone on Do Not Disturb, letting out a long sigh before putting on Azzi’s jersey. Today they were playing Seton Hall at home and Azzi immediately dropped off her jersey at your dorm, saying you needed to ‘represent your team and show your support.’ In other words, she wanted to make you finally wear her jersey after you had refused to wear it since high school.
You meet up with Kayla early at Gampel, making sure to get good seats to be able to see the court up close. Azzi had introduced you to Kayla shortly after meeting her teammates and the two of you clicked instantly. Because even though she was good friends with the team, she understood what it was like being on the sidelines while they focused on basketball.
“Did Azzi make you wear her jersey?” Kayla asked you, eyeing the huge 35 that was written across your torso.
You laugh, nodding to her as you take a picture of the court on your phone. “Yeah, she’s been trying to get me to wear her jersey since high school. I figured I’d finally let her win that battle.”
Kayla laughs along with you. “She tried to get me to wear it too so I opted for a shirt with her face on it. Same with Paige.”
You hated to admit it but your eyes lit up at the mention of Paige. “Bet Paige loved that.”
“Yeah, she did.” Kayla looks over at you. “You’ve known her for a while right?”
“Paige?” you ask. “Yeah, I met her back in high school when she came to visit Azzi.”
Kayla raised her eyebrows. “So how was she in high school? Huge ego or no?”
You let out a quiet laugh. “Ego is always huge. But from what I remember, she was cool. We got along well and she was insane when it came to basketball. Still is.”
“Were you guys close?”
You stay silent for a while, trying to choose the right words. Because you two were as close as two girls could be and nobody knew that. But now you were as far apart as you had been before you had even met. “Something like that.”
The lights dimmed and the announcer came on, announcing the team as each player ran out. Azzi comes running out of the locker room, a huge grin plastered across her face. As soon as she makes it onto the court, she flashes you a smile and sends you a thumbs up, which you return. She sits down as the others run through and you wait for Paige to come out. She was the last to run through and you could feel your heart physically leap out of your chest for her. Fucking embarrassing.
Paige high-fives fans through the tunnels and goes to sit down by Azzi, not before meeting your eyes in the crowd, making her stop in her tracks for just a split second before sitting down. Her eyes were taunting, almost daring you to make a move. And by the look in her eyes, she wasn’t going to reject it either. At least that’s what you were thinking.
The game starts with UConn winning the tip-off and Kaitlyn getting possession of the ball. Throughout the quarter, Paige couldn’t stop making eye contact with you and you knew better than anyone that just your presence alone was enough to throw her off her game. She missed shot after shot resulting in a furious Geno yelling more than usual on the sideline. After missing two free throws, Azzi pats Paige on the back, giving her a look that screams ‘get it together.’ You could tell Paige was tense by the way her hands were balled into fists when she didn't have possession of the ball. She constantly tightened the elastic of her ponytail, a habit she had when she got nervous.
By halftime, Paige looked defeated and maybe that was your cue to leave. It was hard to believe that an ex-girlfriend from high school would be enough to throw off the game of the number one women’s college basketball player in the world. But here we are.
You knew Paige was feeling out of her element, watching past UConn games during your free time back in Miami. She was a good player. A good enough player to not be playing in a funk. Was your presence that triggering?
Eventually, Paige was subbed out, an irritated expression across her face as she sat down on the bench with her shoulders slumped. Caroline sat beside her, patting her shoulder gently to aid her in comfort. Paige took a sip of water before using a towel to wipe off the remaining sweat from her face. You go from staring at the back of her head to making eye contact with her as she turns to look at you. You quickly look away, completely embarrassed over the fact that Paige knew you were definitely already looking at her.
You look down at your feet and then back up towards the game when Paige catches your eye again, nudging her head towards the locker room. You shake your head, trying not to make it obvious to Kayla who was too engrossed in the game even to notice the small interaction. Paige’s mouth created a small line as she gave you an urgent look, resulting in you sighing and getting up out of your seat to walk to the locker room.
You meet her just past the door. “What?”
Paige closes the door to the locker room, leaving only you two inside. She leans against the door and crosses her arms together in front of her chest. “You’re ignoring me.”
You mimic her movement and cross your arms against your chest. “Ignoring what exactly?”
Paige rolls her eyes. “Don’t fucking be like that. You don’t get to be pissed at me. Why the fuck are you upset with me? I haven’t seen you in four years, Y/n.”
Your name came so effortlessly from her mouth like muscle memory. The way her jersey clung to her body, your eyes outlining her biceps up to her eyes. She was magical. You tear your eyes away, not wanting to make it obvious. “I’m not fucking upset with you. I actually haven’t thought about you once since I’ve been here.”
Paige laughs at that. “Not once? Because the way you looked at me outside of Ted’s and outside of your dorm makes it seem like you have a grudge against me or something.”
“I don’t,” you say, avoiding eye contact with her. “What exactly do you want me to say? It’s clear you moved on.”
Paige’s eyes widened, practically popping out her face. “That’s what this is about? Because of that girl you saw me with?” She unravels her arms from each other and points at you. “You fucking broke up with me four years ago. Why the fuck are you upset about me getting with other people?”
“I’m not fucking upset!” you scream as it echoes across the locker room. “I’m trying to leave you in my fucking past and you keep popping up like a goddamn fly.”
“So you thought transferring to the school where I play basketball was a good way to leave me in your past?” she asked you with a dumbfounded look on her face.
“Not everything is about you, Paige,” you say. “I transferred here because I needed out of Miami and Azzi came up with the idea. I don’t care who you date.”
“Right because you definitely weren’t pissed to the point where you pretended you didn’t know who I was when you walked out of your dorm a few weeks ago.”
“Paige.” Your tone becomes lighter. “Up until that night outside Ted’s, I hadn’t seen you since right before I left for Miami. And you look so different to the point where I don’t recognize you.”
Paige rolls her eyes. “It’s called aging.”
You shake your head, giving her an annoyed look. “I’m not talking about your physical look. I’m talking about senior year Paige who went on late-night drives with me.”
“Well, that was the same Paige who got her heart broken by a girl who didn’t even bother trying to make it work. It was clear you weren’t that into me like I was with you.” You could hear the pain in her voice and that made your heart hurt. Even after four years.
“I didn’t break your heart. I’ve heard the stories about what you’ve been up to since we broke up and it seems like you’re doing just fine.”
Paige shifts her body so that she’s standing in front of you again, practically forcing eye contact. Her having a towering height over you didn’t help either. “And what have you heard?”
You meet her eyes and shrug. “Apparently you get around a lot.”
She shoots you a disgusted look. “And you haven’t? Azzi’s told me about the girls you’ve dated since you left.”
You roll your eyes once more. “Okay.”
“You seem to be really into blue eyes and blonde hair by the way. I wonder who set that type up for you.” Paige smirked at her remark, resulting in you letting out a loud scoff.
“At least I tried to date the girls I was seeing.” You take a step closer. “Do all the hookups help?”
Paige looks down at you, taking a step closer with her hands behind her back. “To get rid of the thought of you? What do you think?” You can’t think of anything else to say and she knows it. She knows she’s getting you right where she wants you. “Why are you upset that I was with another girl?”
“It’s hard not to feel some type of way,” you say quietly, mumbling so fast to save your own dignity.
Paige leans closer. “Sorry, what was that? Couldn’t quite hear you.”
You sigh heavily before repeating, “It’s hard not to feel some type of way.”
She leans even closer. “One more time.”
“Don’t be a dick.” You pull away from her and she lets out a laugh.
“So after four years, you’re jealous?”
“And you wouldn’t be?”
The look on her face was priceless. Amused yet confused because five minutes ago you were just screaming at her and now you just admitted to your ex-girlfriend that she made you jealous. Paige stepped closer and you had no interest in stepping back. It took everything in you not to step even closer to her.
“You’re infuriating and I should hate you.”
You tilt your head up to her. “And do you?”
“Shut the fuck up.” In a second, she’s on you. Pulling at your clothes and moving her mouth with yours. You waste no time in responding to her touch, moving your lips against hers while your fingers tangle into her ponytail. You let a hand drift down to the base of her jawline and all those old, high-school feelings came rushing back. In that moment you realized just how much of a hold she had over you, her touch bleeding into yours.
This kiss made up for four years of mistakes. Four years of missing her and regretting that decision you made. You needed to prove to her that it wasn’t going to happen again. And by the way her tongue fought against yours was as if she believed it too. Your heart beat picked up as you both fell into a steady and rough rhythm. Paige couldn’t decide whether she wanted her hands around your waist or caressing your lower back, moving her hands upward. You could feel Paige craving you as she moved her lips faster, more aggressively. You kept your hands on her jaw to stabilize yourself as you thought you might faint. You could smell the subtle musk mixed with sweat that drifted off of her, the heat coming off her body and pulling you in.
“What the fuck?” Azzi’s voice pulled your lips apart, causing you to instantly take a step away from Paige, whose hands still lingered on your back.
The two of you, swollen lips and sweaty hands, turn to Azzi who looks as if she has seen a ghost, dropping the towel she was holding from pure shock.
Paige wipes her lips, looking from you back to Azzi. “Az, hey.”
Azzi’s eye twitched, insinuating that she was clearly pissed. “Hey?” Azzi takes a step forward. “What the fuck did I just see?”
You turn to fully face Azzi and Paige looks back at you. You step towards Azzi. “Azzi, I swear this isn’t what it looks like.”
“That’s bullshit. I just saw my two best friends making out.”
You shake your head, “No, no…” you pause. “Well yeah, but we’re not together or anything. It just happened. A one-time thing, I swear.”
Paige’s head snaps toward yours. You fucked up once again. “One-time thing?”
Azzi looks between the two of you. “Y/n, what is she talking about?”
A million thoughts ran through your head, debating if you should tell Azzi that you and Paige had dated. It felt wrong to keep it from her for this long. You sigh, scratching the back of your neck. “Paige and I used to date back in high school.”
“What?” Azzi asked, clearly hurt written over her face.
You walk towards her so that you’re now right in front of her. “That night at your sleepover when Paige was visiting, we left to go to Taco Bell and things happened in the parking lot which turned into us secretly dating for a while.”
Azzi shook her head and looked to Paige, looking for any sense of clarity. “Paige?”
Paige couldn’t look at her, light tears lining her eyes. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
Azzi’s head drops. “So you both have been lying to me this whole time? Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I didn’t want to mess up our friendship or mess up yours and Paige’s,” you say, trying to justify your mistake.
Azzi couldn’t even look at you. “This is fucked, Y/n.” She paces the locker room and suddenly pauses, turning towards you. “You’re the girl.”
“What?”
“The girl who broke Paige’s heart.” Azzi looks between the two of you again. “It was you this entire time?”
Paige steps in front of you, waving her hand slowly in front of Azzi to try to calm her down. “Azzi, that was four years ago.”
Azzi laughs. “So the entire time I watched you hurting was because of my best friend?”
You turn to Paige who avoids eye contact with you. You turn back to Azzi. “It was fucking high school, Azzi. We were both going to college. What was I supposed to do?”
Azzi grits her teeth, pointing a finger in your face. “You weren’t supposed to lie to me. Do you think I would have cared if you dated Paige in high school? No. But now I know that for the past four years, the two of you have been lying to me.”
“Azzi, we didn’t want to hurt you.” Paige stepped in for you, trying to diffuse the situation.
“If you really don’t want to hurt me, you won’t see each other anymore,” Azzi says.
You and Paige both widen your eyes. “What?”
“It would make me more comfortable if you guys didn’t hang out alone. At least not for a while.”
You go to object, wanting to work this out with her to reach any other solution. Because keeping you and Paige apart was not going to end well.
Paige beats you to it. “Anything you want, Azzi.”
Your heart stops and your head snaps to her. How…why? Did she blame you for everything that’s happened? Why would she agree to that so quickly?
The two of them looked at you as they anticipated your answer. You blink a few times, trying to process Paige’s answer. “If that’s what you want then yeah, no problem at all.”
Azzi gives you both a light smile, nodding in agreement. “Okay good. That makes me feel a lot better actually.” Azzi picks up the towel she dropped on the floor, tossing it into a dirty towel bin. She waves Paige over. “Come on, we gotta go.”
Azzi leaves the locker room as Paige turns to you. “Not really sure what to say.”
You roll your eyes. “Really? Because it sounded like you were very sure when you told Azzi you’d do whatever she wanted.”
Paige leans toward your ear, whispering, “Payback’s a bitch isn’t it?”
And just like that, Paige is gone. Again.

"Territory 13 is acting up again, sir."
"Are they?"
"They're giving trouble. Threatening to cut off our chain supply in the north."
“Hm.”
“We’ve lost a few men fighting them for the past few days. The situation doesn’t seem to be de-escalating, so we reported to you.”
“Nowhere else we can push to weaken them?”
“They seem to have it figured out, sir. They outnumber us at every turn.”
"Well, we can't have that, can we?"
"No, sir."
"You have three hours till dawn. Take the men you need and get it settled. It won't be pretty if I don't get better news by then."
"Yes, sir."
"Go."
He swings his chair around to the fading sky of the night, nursing his glass of amber. He looks down to his full sleeve of black, red, and blue ink. Zinnias, dahlias, rhododendrons, and in the centre, like the highlight of a Naturalism painting, a whorl of vines and small, green leaves, linked to the vines of other flowers. He has no idea what it means, has had no idea since the day he got it. Ever since, all he's focused on is getting it covered, blended in with other flowers on his skin.
What is the point of such a mark on his skin, he wonders for the umpteenth time as he runs his hands over the permanent imprint, if the universe won't show me what it means?
He glances at the corner of his screen. 1:30am. 14 February. Hm.
He looks away.
"I'm sorry, I don't think we can proceed with cover design and vetting for you, ma'am."
"Oh... Not possible? At all?"
"I'm afraid not, ma'am. Your drafts weren’t given the green light from our Head of Publishing, and our team can't exactly spare the manpower to help you right now."
"...I see. And there’s no one else I can look for? Or….. any contacts you may have?”
“We can try, ma’am, but we can’t promise anything. It’s busy period for us publishers at the moment.”
“Ah. Well, thank you anyway. I hope we can work together in the future."
You put your phone down and sink back into your chair, covering your face with your hands. Your most recent creative co-director pulled out two days ago, another graphic design deal fell through, and now this publishing company. At this rate, you don't know if your book will even ever reach the local bookstore across the street.
You blow out a breath, look down at the only black ink on unblemished skin, the one that's been there since the day you turned 20 years old.... the petals of a snapdragon.
Your phone lights up with a text from a friend, and as you unlock it, the date catches your attention.
14 February. Happy Valentines' Day to you.
Your final straw comes when you're walking home from your office the next night. You rub your tattoo, which has been irritated the whole of today. You have no idea what it means, just that it can't be good for your soulmate bond. But you've never been concerned for him, not the slightest bit, since the day you got the tattoo. Because he's not something you're looking for right now.
Then you hear scuffling, a familiar thing here in the rougher area of town where you live. Your only intention is to walk past and ignore everything. From prior experience, that's the best survival tactic you have: Don't go looking for trouble, and it won't find you.
A man appears on the sidewalk and walks towards you. You walk faster, calculating the distance it takes. Two hundred metres and you'll be under the safety of the street lights. One hundred and fifty. One hundred. The man seems to be getting closer.
You hear a thud. Fuck. What was that?
You squeeze your eyes together and turn around. It sounds stupid, but you'd like to at least see the face of your captor before you see darkness. You read novels about this. When a character gets out of a captor's grasp, they can never tell the police what the kidnappers look like. If now is your time, you won't go down making the same mistake.
Except there isn't a captor nor a body bag. It's just another man, hands in pockets, bending down to survey the unconscious lump on the concrete ground just behind you. He looks at you, the exact moment that you too meet his eyes. And you feel it. At the worst possible time in your life, ever, for crying out loud.
Hundreds, maybe thousands of volts of electricity. A rising and a pop in your head, a sizzling burn on your forearm. Who knew a soulmate bond snapping into place could be this painful? You choke out a gasp as the pain sears, brands itself into your arm. The outline of the flower appears in full glory, the vines entwining itself around your arm as it links with the petals. It's beautiful and horrifying, and you watch as the flower you've been waiting for finally, finally blooms.
Before long, the bloom appears on your forearm. A snapdragon.
The man seems to feel the same thing, as he doubles over in pain, pupils dilated in shock and clutching his arm. His face is covered by his hood so you can't see what he looks like, but he turns and runs, and before long he's disappeared into the darkness.
A few minutes pass before the pain finally subsides, and in its place comes a wave of exhaustion. You sink on the concrete, careful not to stir your unconscious stalker, who's still lying on the ground motionless.
You've found your soulmate. On the day of love.
You touch your mouth when you feel a smile creeping up your face.
--------------------------------
Seungcheol opens his door, barks an order to his guard outside not to disturb him unless "someone is bloody dead", sinks down on a couch and grabs a whisky. He downs it, the burn of the alcohol close to nothing as compared to that of the flower sitting oh-so-innocently on his forearm. He'll never forget the way the snapdragon petals appeared, as if they were burnt into his skin.
He stares at it, remembers the girl who gasped in pain just as he did. He never meant for this to happen. He was only passing by and saw a man from one of the local, problematic gangs sneaking up on you. He only meant to get the man away as he usually would for anyone else, because his principles, despite his rough line of work, never permitted him to disrespect women. He only meant to do one thing and go on his way. He only felt his arm burning right before he turned onto that damn street.
He glares at his arm, like the ordeal is its fault. His hand is shaking. It never shakes.
He didn't mean to feel his bond snap into place, never meant to meet you. He takes another long swig. This is the worst timing ever, he thinks darkly.
Meeting your soulmate on Valentines' Day can't be pure coincidence. If there wasn't a sign before that this was your chance, there very well was now. The next day you come up with a mission plan.
Find the man who is apparently my soulmate
...........
And that's when you sit down and have a good think. What are you even going to do when you do find him, anyway? Get together with him purely because he's meant for you, as the universe dictated? What if he's a rude jerk? What if he's ugly? What if... oh god, what if his breath stinks?
What if... he doesn't like you?
You continue writing on your notepad, absently, mindlessly writing sentences and paragraphs like word-vomit. Before long, you look down on the page to see almost a full journal entry, like you always do when you're anxious or stressed.
"Great," You mutter. "May as well write a book about this."
You enter the bookstore, waving at the little old lady who runs it.
"Good morning," She hums. "What are you looking for?"
You smile, thumbing through the different books on the shelf. "Morning. Something about flowers, maybe? I'm doing research... for a book I'm writing."
She nods. "Perhaps a book that explains the flower on your arm?"
You chuckle. Nothing could ever get past her eyes. "You caught me."
The lady laughs in return. "That," she says, hobbling out from the counter to rummage her inventory, "is a snapdragon. Yours is lovely -- a nice shade of red."
You smile. "Does its colour represent something, too?"
The old lady pulls down a thick book, flips through it and sweeps off the dust on the cover. "Every colour has its representation, but it's also your choice to decide what it means to you." She passes you the book. "In Chinese culture, it means prosperity. It's a lucky colour. For others, it could mean passion and love. It could also mean danger, perhaps courage..."
"Wow," You mumble, flipping through the book. "One colour and thousands of meanings?"
The old lady shrugs. "Colours and nature existed way before we did," She takes the book from you and goes to wrap it up in construction paper. "Is that the tattoo that brings you to your other half?"
"So the world says," You shrug, as you pay for the book. "I had the petals first, so the stem and leaves appeared when I met him, but I don't know where he is... or even what he looks like."
The lady nods in understanding. "I wouldn't worry. You'll find your way back to each other. I'd think that's what the tattoo's for."
"Do you know about them? What do they do?"
"Some stories say they help soulmates detect when one is in danger. Other stories say the closer you are, the warmer it feels... I've never tried."
Huh. You nod. "Thank you. So very much."
There is a soft shimmer of fascination in the old lady's eyes as she waves you goodbye. "I have faith that what's meant for you will come to you in due course, dear. Have a good day now."
------------------------------------
Seungcheol hasn't stopped glowering at his tattoo all day. It looks... out of place. The petals aren't supposed to be there. It looks like an outsider, a strange feeling he can't place. If this is the bond acting up, he surmises, it fucking sucks.
He needs coffee to cure the pounding headache building up.
He orders someone to get his coffee, and as he sits to wait, he taps at his keyboard impatiently, trying to figure out how the tattoo had built up.
The petals came later, he thinks. Is that supposed to mean something?
When his right-hand man, a freckled, tan man comes in with the coffee, Seungcheol is still none the wiser on the phenomenon. So he lowers his guard (for once, he thinks bitterly, for a soulmate bond of all things), and asks the man who's currently laying his coffee cup down. "Lee."
Lee looks up. "Yes, sir?"
"What do you know about soulmate bond tattoos?"
Lee looks visibly excited. "Did you get yours, sir?"
"Asking for a friend," Seungcheol deflects immediately. "So, what do you know about it?"
"I have one, sir," Lee says, and rolls up his sleeve to reveal a... half-faded anchor tattoo. "I was so.... it felt so strange to meet my other half."
"Strange. What was it like?"
Lee shrugs as he sets down a serviette. "Can I speak freely?"
Seungcheol waves at him to go ahead. He's usually the man who acts like he has a stick up his ass, but this time, he wants to find out everything he can about having a soulmate. Just so I don't drag the poor girl down with me for no good reason, he reasons to himself.
"It wasn't all good feelings," Lee explains thoughtfully, hands pausing mid-air. "My soulmate... he was an underground weapons dealer. And you know people in our circle, we don't do feelings. They're liabilities, it's another thing enemies can use against us." He chuckles bitterly. "That was one of the only things we had in common."
Seungcheol doesn't miss the way he's speaking in past tense. "You don't have to explain yourself," He says cautiously.
"No, that's okay," Lee says. "It was a while back. See, I have fading scars to prove that."
"What did it... feel like?"
"It started fading and it hurt so much, I knew something was wrong." Lee shows his arm again.
"What happened?"
Lee shrugs. "He died in an underground turf war. One of those."
Seungcheol makes eye contact. "Did you at least have good days with him?"
Lee looks at him, then looks away. "We did. Almost left the circle for each other, but..." He shrugs again. "Time just wasn't on our side."
"No," Seungcheol agrees. "It wasn't."
His fists clench. So this is what could happen to both parties who were in the circle, nevermind a civilian. He nods. "Thank you for telling me."
Lee gives him a half-smile. "So is this about your tattoo?"
"Y- No, for my friend," Seungcheol replies, cursing himself at the slip-up.
"I see," Lee says, the mischievous glint in his eyes returning. Seungcheol knows Lee doesn't believe him. As his right-hand man for years, how could he not see through Seungcheol? He starts walking towards the door. "Well, tell your friend that if there's anything I learnt, it's that time is a bitch. There's going to be a lot of fear, and it won't be pretty. But... take it from me," He smiles sadly. "It's going to feel worse when you don't treasure time and lose them. After all...." He opens the door. "I lived to tell the tale."
When the door closes behind him, Seungcheol leans back into his chair and rubs his temples.
"Some soulmates you find in the lecture hall of your school. Some you find along the way of life. Some... are pre-ordained by the universe, in the form of a snapdragon tattoo.
But are these... pre-meditated, pre-planned people meant to stay?"
You put down your pen.
You're curious. At the world, for giving you a person. How that system came about. About your soulmate. What he's like, what he looks like.
But there's no straightforward way to find him. No instruction manual that tells you where to go and what to do.
You decide to take a walk that evening. No distance limit. Just wherever your feet takes you.
And it brings you to this cafe on a street you've never been, with soft music and oak furniture, and a smiley, freckled and tan man behind the counter grins at you. "Welcome to Choi's."
"Hello," You say, smiling a bit. "Could I get a latte, and... that croissant? It looks amazing."
"Of course," He says, before turning to another burly staff that just appeared. "Get her a latte, will you?"
The staff nods, and disappears behind the coffee machine.
You take a seat, and hum as you wait. When the pastry and drink appear on your table, you thank the staff and look down to see the milk foam in the shape of a heart. Mmm. You take a sip, already feeling a lot better.
The bell jingles, and a man steps in, hands in his pockets. and heads for the counter. By force of habit, you look up and send him a cursory glance. And then you freeze. The man has rolled up his sleeves as he speaks to the staff, as if they already know each other, and on his arms....
A full tattoo sleeve of flowers. Zinnias, dahlias, rhododendrons, and in the centre, a whorl of vines leading to the most prominent flower. It looks fresh, like it was inked in a mere five minutes earlier.... in a shade of brilliant red... a snapdragon.
It's him.
The man must have excellent situational awareness because he acutely notices someone staring at him and he turns to you. Your shell-shocked face, your trembling hands... and his eyes fall on your forearm.
Choi Seungcheol had never felt this thunderstruck, not even when he found out half his men had been bought over by rivals years ago. He knows he'll never forget this feeling.
So he does the next best thing. He excuses himself from his staff and leaves.
So you get up and run after him.
Seungcheol's in the middle of cursing himself and the world out when he hears your voice calling for him.
"Sir...?"
He can pretend he doesn't know you're calling him. Sure. He can do that. Keep on walking, Seungcheol.
Until he hears running, and a tap on his shoulder. Ah.
He swallows, closes his eyes, and turns around. "Yes?" He asks coldly.
Ah. So he's not in the habit of making conversation, you think. "I'm really sorry about this, but can I...."
"Can you what?" Seungcheol replies, even though he already knows what you're going to say.
"Can I see your arm? For a second? I just wanted to make sure I wasn't seeing wrongly."
"No, you may not."
You cringe. Silence dwindles between both of you. "Uh... right."
Seungcheol reaches for his car key. "Why do you want to see my arm, love?" He casts a cursory glance at your arm. "To see if I'm your soulmate?"
You look down, then at him. "...Yeah. I got this tattoo, and I don't know what my soulmate looks like, so..."
"So you're trying to find him in me, huh?" Seungcheol doesn't mean to be rude, but this is the only way to get you off his back, at least until he knows how to move forward. The least he can do is to warn you. "News flash, love. I'm just a man who enjoys flowers. But me as your soulmate?" He chuckles and presses a button. From a distance, his car makes a beeping sound and unlocks. "I highly doubt it. You'll need to know who we are before you enter our world."
"And who are you?" The words come out before you can stop them.
Seungcheol supposes it doesn't hurt to establish who he is, just so you'll have enough sense to stay away.
"The mafia, love," He says softly, as he walks towards his car. "I'm the leader, here. I'd advise you to stay away from me, soulmate or otherwise."
When his car pulls away, you sigh and look at your tattoo.
The biggest joke the universe could have pulled on you. Making a mafia leader, out of 8 billion other people, your soulmate.
When he reaches home, Seungcheol reaches for his phone. When Lee answers, Seungcheol gives him a long list of things to do, for the cafe and for the mafia.
"Has anyone caught on the cafe yet?" He asks.
"Nope," Lee answers. "It was a good front to keep track of the public, but it seems like a normal cafe to them. So I'd say everything's fine, boss."
"Good."
"Anything else?" Lee says.
"....One more thing." Seungcheol says, sighing through his nose. "A girl came to the cafe tonight."
"...Uh-huh."
"The girl in the white cardigan and jeans."
"Right."
"Warn her not to divulge who we are and what the cafe really is. With any luck, she'll figure out that the cafe is protecting us."
"Protecting us..." Lee gasps. "Sir, you told her who you are? Why?"
"To get her to leave me alone," Seungcheol mutters. "Anyway, just tell her to zip her mouth. I don't care how you do it."
He regrets the words once they exit his mouth. "Just don't hit her or anything. We're not in that business."
A soft laugh comes over the phone. "She your soulmate or something, boss?"
Seungcheol pinches his nose. "So she thinks. Just because we have a matching..."
An idea hits him. "Do me another favour."
"Name it, boss."
"Find out where she was last night. Just to make clear something for me."
"You got it."
A knock on your door sounds in the middle of the night. When you open the door, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you flinch when two burly guys flanking the same freckled, tan man from the cafe last night step in your doorway.
"Uh...you're from the cafe, aren't you?"
"I thought a familiar face might help matters," The freckled man says. "My name's Lee. And you?"
You introduce yourself cautiously, but you look at the two men. "So... what the man said yesterday was true? You're not really a cafe, are you?"
Lee shrugs. "Nothing you need to concern yourself with, anyway." He nods to the men. "We just came here to give a little warning."
You have a feeling you already know. "What warning?"
"Don't pry, and don't tell," Lee says, still smiling, but you sense the underlying threat within. "I don't know what business you have with us, but it should end now." He nods at you. "For both yours and our good."
The burly man on the left makes a point of nodding towards your home. "We know where you live, and we can find you no matter where you go. Don't complicate things for yourself. You won't like what comes next."
And they leave, leaving you shaking in the doorway. Anger courses through you. Your soulmate sent people after you to push you away.
You don't know everything about soulmate bonds, but what you do know is that soulmates are drawn to each other: to protect, and to take care of. Either your soulmate is very, very clueless; or he just doesn't want anything to do with you. You have to find out which answer it is before you decide whether to let go of him or not.
Alright, Mr. Mafia Boss, you clench your teeth. I don't have to deal with your mafia directly to get an audience with you. Let's see how far this game can go.
Moonlight slants through his ceiling-to-floor windows. Seungcheol grits his teeth as he watches the surveillance that Lee found for him. You, walking home the night of 14 February, around 10pm, going faster and faster as that son-of-a-bitch followed you. His arms rest on his chair as he sees himself appear and knock the guy out cold.
He sighs. So it really was you. He'd recognise that face anywhere.
He looks at his tattoo once more, hating how perfectly it entwines with the rest of his tattoos. So much for covering it up. He turns his arm around again and again. It's exquisite, but it lies there like a burden.
And it picks the perfect timing to start burning. Seungcheol grunts in pain, clutching his arm as it burns, sears with the same pain it did that night. He doesn't know how the system came about, but what he knows is this: You're in danger. And as annoyed as he is about this whole situation, he has to find you. If only to make the pain stop.
He reaches for his telephone, and when the other line picks up he hisses: "Find her. Now. Scour all the surveillance in the city. I don't care what you have to do, but find her."
He can hear his man barking out orders in the background, and he shakily puts the phone down. Lee comes bursting into the room, grabs Seungcheol's arm to check on him. Normally, Seungcheol would have the head of anyone who dared to touch him without permission, but given Lee's position in this predicament, he allows him to.
"Is it supposed to be like this?" Seungcheol groans out. "It hurts like hell."
"Yup," Lee mutters. "It is. Looks and seems exactly like mine whenever Bri got into danger."
"Danger--" Seungcheol scowls and tries getting up. "You mean she's injured?"
Lee shrugs. "I don't know if it extends to normal minor situations, but whenever Bri got into a fight, I'd feel my arm burning."
"Her, fight. Don't make me laugh," Seungcheol scoffs, then grunts again as another wave of pain hits him. "She looks like she couldn't hurt a fly."
"We've located her, boss," Another man comes into the room, holding a laptop towards him.
"Where?"
When silence answers him, he hisses. "I didn't ask you this question for you to not fucking reply. I asked where?"
"The border of Territory 7, sir."
"What the hell is she doing there? Is she an underworld member, too?" Lee wonders out loud.
Seungcheol pushes himself up off his seat, wincing as his arm throbs slightly. "Fuck if I know. But I guess I have to find her if I want this pain to stop."
"I'll get men and go with you," Lee starts, but Seungcheol waves him off. "No need. We don't need to stir up a fuss, not when the territories are already misbehaving these few weeks. I'll get her, and... figure it out later."
You're tapping your foot as you wander the edges of the city's largest turf. It's well-known that civilians shouldn't pass by here if they want to get home alive and well, but with the recent news of unrest stirring in such turfs, you figure that it's the best way to seek Seungcheol out. It's stupid, but it's your best bet. Plus, you figure that the nearer you are to danger, the better.
You must be near a group of militants on patrol duty, because you can hear hushed orders and boots crunching. You sigh and look at your watch.
"Are you actually stupid?"
You raise your head. "So it worked. So nice of you to join me this evening."
Seungcheol storms towards you. "So you tricked me?"
"Wasn't a trick." You mutter. "I'm here, aren't I?"
"You are a nutcase," He seethes, as he grabs your arm and starts dragging you away. "Do you have any idea what would happen if anyone caught you? These few places are red-light districts now. You're not supposed to be here."
"I wouldn't know. You came anyway."
Seungcheol lets you go and huffs at you. "Go home, and don't get any more stupid ideas. Yes, I'm your soulmate. Yes, my tattoo is also a snapdragon, and I guess I can sense when you're in places you shouldn't be because my arm fucking burns, okay? Got your answer?"
"No," You say defiantly. "I haven't found out one thing. Why were you so desperate to deny that you weren't my soulmate? But you still came running anyway."
"This," He hisses, stepping closer to you, "is a pain in my ass. I can't work if my tattoo's going to start hurting every half hour. So for god's sake, please stay out of anything that doesn't concern you. Do not run into a lion's den to get an audience with me."
"So you're going to give me a way to contact you?" You shrug. "Sure, if that will keep me from making rash decisions."
Seungcheol furrows his brows. "What gave you that idea?"
"Well, you can't think I'm going to let you go after all of this, do you?"
What??
"Did I not make myself clear en-"
"Oh, you did," You say. "Like you said, you came running because you could sense I was somewhere I shouldn't be. So you can't stay away no matter how much I piss you off, can you?"
"I nev-"
"That's how soulmates work, Mr. Mafia Boss." You say smugly. "We can't stay away from each other, like a moth can't stray from the light."
Seungcheol scowls at you and then proceeds to maintain a ten-second glaring competition until he blows out a breath.
"Ten more reasons why I hate this bond so much," He mutters, before pulling out a business card and shoving it into your hands. "I've got ground rules. Don't call me for stupid reasons. Do not call to ask me out privately. Do not give my number to anyone for any reason. No exceptions, unless you want a bullet through your brain."
"Did you just threaten to shoot me...." You peruse the business card. "Choi Seungcheol?"
"Yes, and what about it?"
"You know nothing about being a gentleman."
"Never said I was one. Get in the car."
"You''re going to shoot me in there? With the expensive leather?"
"I will if you don't keep your mouth shut and start moving."
You zip it and follow him.
Success. You've met your soulmate. (You're sitting in his car, too.)
He said you couldn't call. But texting exists, so.... You're determined to bug him until he takes notice.
"It's me."
He leaves you on read.
The next day you add another message. "I guess I'll write to an empty chatroom. I'm doing good, I just had a sandwich for breakfast and I'm going to continue writing now."
5pm: "I'm done with my next chapter. Trying to find an illustrator for the cover. I'm craving soup."
11pm: "goodnight! hope your work or whatever's going well. You can't tell me anything about what you're doing?"
And so it continues, for a full three days, with silly texts about a sentence error you wrote, or a funny thing you ate, or asking him what he's doing at work, until you get a single response from him that has you rolling your eyes: "Be quiet."
You do not, to Seungcheol's chagrin, keep quiet.
He didn't think you could talk so much to someone who never replied. In a week he'd all but figured out your life pattern: wake up, eat, write (he had no idea what you were writing), find publishers and illustrators, take a walk maybe in the late afternoon, eat again, and write until it was time to sleep. You lead an awfully idyllic life compared to him, he thinks as he closes your text.
You also seem to have a love for soup, he realises. The weirdest fucking craving.
And croissants from his fake cafe. You sent him photos of it across the week, and he wonders how you never get tired of the damn thing. Your food cravings change from soup to something else every now and then, getting more bizarre with each one. (Pasta with pickles? Really?)
It was cute. (He cursed himself out after thinking about it.)
And so it goes for two more weeks until Seungcheol decides this has to stop. He texts you back for once, and you're elated as you read his text.
"Be ready Saturday night. Zip it for now, will you? I'm trying to work."
You're waiting outside your house when he pulls up. You already know that he knows exactly where you live, so you never bothered texting him your address. You get in once he stops the car, his grumpy face still on full display.
"Thanks for taking me out," You say, smiling at him, and he grunts as he pulls out and steps on the accelerator. "Isn't that exactly what you wanted?"
You shrug. "And you gave in. Is that a soulmate thing?"
"I will drop you off right this second if you say 'soulmate' one more time." He threatens.
He rubs the sleeve covering the skin on which his tattoo lies, and you frown. "Is it causing you trouble? I haven't gone anywhere weird recently, though."
"No. And you better not have."
He doesn't say much after that, simply drives about twenty minutes to a sleek, al fresco restaurant. The neon lights, warm-looking space draws you in, and when you read the menu outside while waiting for him to park...
"Soup? So you did read my texts!"
"You won't shut up about it. A little hard to miss it even if I wanted to."
You chuckle and flip through the menu. "So what're you getting?"
"You pick, you're the one craving soup of all things," He mutters absently. "Don't really care. Just came to get a message across."
"What is it?"
"Sit first before I tell you."
And so you do. He lets you get tomato soup and grilled cheese, pasta and a soda, and says absolutely nothing. He eats a little, rolling his eyes at the amount you inhale. Finally, you put down your fork. "So what did you want to tell me?"
He swallows his water before putting the glass down. "Just one thing."
You cock your head. "I'm listening."
"Why are you contacting me personally, so often? I'm sure I said not to do that."
"You said not to call," You reply, smiling. When he looks like he's about to protest, you smile again. "So I texted."
"You're fucking impossible," He mutters.
"Sorry, what was that?"
"Nothing. Anyway, stop that. I'm a busy man."
"I know. That's why I text, like, three times in a day. It's not a lot, is it?"
His hand comes down on the table, not loud enough to cause a scene but firm enough to catch your attention. "I don't have the time to entertain you, Miss Y/N. You know who I am, and that was my fault, and I think it would do you good to remember that."
"Pulling the mafia leader card on me, again?" You sigh and shake your head. "I don't know what you do, and you won't tell me. I write about people like you and mobsters. You're exactly what I write in my books."
"I am not one of your little book characters," Seungcheol hisses back. "I am not a work of fiction or something you pull out of your imagination and twist about like your plaything. I am real, and I am someone who can hurt you if I want to. And I don't owe you any information. Stop bothering me, got it?"
"Is that why you brought me here?" A surge of confidence and defiance grips you. He couldn't have taken you out to somewhere he knew you'd enjoy for no reason.
He scowls. “I can go wherever I want. Don’t read too much into it.”
You grin. “Sure.”
He nods.
“So can I continue messaging you?”
He groans. “Did you not get any of what I just said?”
You shrug. "Guess you’ll have to tell me a few more times.”
He sighs loudly, and his fingers drum the table as he seemingly goes deep into thought. The scowl is almost becoming a permanent fixture on his face, you think.
After a long moment, he groans and utters: “Next Sunday. 6pm.”
He takes you out two more times. The next Sunday, to a small restaurant you chose. This time he ate better, the consistent strain in his forehead almost easing as he bit into the lasagna.
He answered your questions, albeit grumpily, and when you got off his car that night, you thought, as you opened your journal up again, that he was finally, finally warming up to you.
But the next time he brings you out, he is visibly in a stormy mood, barely making conversation and stabbing his meat with his fork.
“Is there something wrong?” You ask.
“No.”
And there the conversation ends.
As dessert rolls in, you try one more time.
“So… how’s work lately?”
“Fine.”
“Ah.”
Please talk. Please.
“You know, I always wonder what a mafia boss does,” You pick up your spoon. “Like, order kills or something?”
Seungcheol picks up his glass. “I remember telling you not to ask about what I do.”
“And you don’t have to give me a full answer,” You shrug. “I’m just asking for a general idea. I thought it’d be nice if I got to know what you do.”
Seungcheol sits back in his seat. "Don't read too much into what I do, love." He takes another sip of water. "You can't honestly think I'm interested in you enough to reveal myself after a few meals. You said you're a writer. You shouldn't be this easy to lie to, you know that?"
Yeah, screw this.
Any confidence you had sizzles out. Easy to lie to. He thinks you're a gullible, small girl eating up every morsel of attention he deigns to give you when he feels like it. Red-hot, burning humiliation and shame rise in you.
After a long pause, you nod. "Alright. Fine. I get it. I apologise for occupying your time."
He surveys you for a second, then nods, like he just made a good business deal. "Just so we make things clear with each other."
"Crystal," You reply, no warmth in your words. "I think I finally got what you wanted to say. I thought you just weren't used to this... idea of having a soulmate, so I wanted to warm you up to it. But now I see you never wanted one in the first place."
Seungcheol furrows his brows just a fraction.
You push your chair back. You're careful not to look or seem angry, in part not to show him you're affected, and also to just... save face. He already embarrassed you. No need to do it again in public. "Take care, Mr. Choi. Thanks for putting up with me, anyway. It won't happen again. I’ll get the bill."
Soulmate, my ass.

It wasn't supposed to be like this. It wasn't supposed to be like this. It wasn't supposed to be like this. It wasn't supposed to be like this. It wasn't supposed to be like this.
It wasn't supposed to turn out this way.
Glass meets the plaster of the wall. His tattoo lies there, barren, lacking its usual warmth even though nothing was taken away.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is perhaps how the story goes. He pushed her away, and she realised how the universe’s plan, this whole concept, had utterly failed. There were never meant to be pre-ordained people. People change, and oftentimes they disappoint…
The journal remains open, the last sentence discontinued.

Soft, oozing vocals of Clara Bow fill your apartment as you pack your writing materials. You're done writing for the day.
You glance at the clock. Nine p.m. In time for a snack and TV before you head to bed.
When you turn on the TV, the news catches your attention. Another territory struggle, another turf battle for control. You shake your head and switch the channel. Typical.
As you settle down into the cushions with chips and a glass of white wine, sudden searing pain, hot and white and agonising, shoots down your arm. You gasp and grasp it in your other hand, almost keeling over at how painful it is.
Something is wrong. Very, very, wrong.
You sink to the floor, clutching your arm and sweat starting to bead your forehead. It hurts, your arm hurts, everything hurts.
Is Seungcheol in trouble?
His name card. Right. You can just find out for yourself, and if he asks, you could just say the tattoo's causing you a lot of pain. Yes. That's it.
You stagger to your drawers to find his card, messing everything up in the process. You fumble for your phone and dial his number, again and again and again, but all you’re greeted with is a beep and an automated voice instructing you to leave a message.
You don’t know what to do. No emergency contact, no one you can find… hell, you don’t even know where he is. As you’re standing, getting ready to run out and search, there's a pounding on your door.
You barely make it to the door and open it, and there stands the freckled, tan man whose name you never got. He looks awkward, eyes racing to your tattoo. "I'm sure you must be in a lot of pain," He says. "Mr. Choi ordered me to check on you."
"Check on me?" You almost wheeze. "What's going on that my arm hurts this badly?"
Lee shakes his head. "Not right now. We will talk in the van."
"Of course you can't say." You snap, patience wearing thin, temper as riled up as the pain in your arm. You're done with his secrets. "I can't know what he's doing, I can't know where he is, or if he's alive or dead, even if the pain he's causing may very well kill me too."
"You won't die," Lee says, a little more kindly. "If this comforts you, my soulmate's gone, and I'm still here."
Your anger evaporates a fraction. "I'm sorry about that."
"No need to be." Lee sighs, then reaches his own arm out. "Hold on to me, I won’t do anything weird. I'll take you to him. He's going to be a bitch when he sees you, but... I think it would be good for both of you. More often than not, distance breaks things apart."
"He's enough of a bitch even when I'm around," You mumble, but you take his arm anyway as he helps you out.
Without much effort, he gets you into the van he came in, and barks out an order to the curious men inside to drive into what he calls "The Heart".
"What's the Heart?" You ask, as he passes you a canteen of water to drink from.
"It's what it sounds like. The heart of our territory." Lee explains, eyes trained in front. "Mr. Choi's there when we... have scuffles, and that's usually the place where security is tightest, so he can be near to us to get updates and give orders, and still not get into danger."
"So he is a leader."
"He is, and one of those you wouldn't want to cross. He's quick with his work, and he can resort to getting his hands dirty if he has to. His network and connections are... frighteningly impressive, to say the least."
"Funny how I'm hearing it from you and not him," You huff as you lay your head back, trying not to think about the pain.
"He hasn't had the experience of telling people about his life, Miss," Lee chuckles. "But I figured you'll know eventually, so better sooner than later, right?"
"Sooner than later?"
"You're meant to stick around him, Miss. For the good and bad. You're his soulmate, after all."
"I don't know if we'll get there." You sigh, and close your eyes. "Is he badly hurt? Will me being there even help matters?"
Lee shrugs. "We'll find out."
Lee gets six men to flank you both as he walks you in. Up ahead, there's a building seemingly made of unforgiving steel, it's blank canvas looming in the dark red, streaked sky.
"That's the Heart?"
"That’s the one. Unpenetrable, Miss. Let's go in."
You pray for all your sakes it really is as Lee takes you up into the elevator. When he opens one of the (almost) hundreds of similar doors to lead to an empty, cell-like room, and inside sits Seungcheol, with a red fabric pressed---
"You're bleeding," You blurt. The pain in your arm subsides just a fraction, perhaps jarred by the sensation of finally, finally, meeting him.
He looks up, eyes twisting in furious shock as he glares at Lee, and then you (you don’t know why). "Exactly which part of my order did you not understand, Lee?"
Lee bows his head in apology. "I'll never take away a chance to meet your soulmate away, you know that, sir."
Seungcheol scowls hard, and you're almost afraid he's going to shoot Lee there and then.
"Get out."
Lee smiles, ushers you in and walks out. "I'll be back in half an hour to report. I'll call for the doctor again."
You bend and peel aside the fabric. Once white, it's now soaked red, it's warmth unsettling. There's blood, so much of it, and on his once unblemished skin now contains a mess of open flesh, blood, and a...
A bullet.
"A gun." You mumble.
"Try not to throw up." He replies, ever-so-gently nudging you away. "This is Armani."
"You jerk."
His face twists in surprise. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me." The anger is returning. "You say all sorts of fucking nonsense to keep me away, and we meet again months later because you're shot. And that may be a normal day for you, Mr. Choi, but us civilians don't go about our day-to-day expecting a bullet hole to appear in our skin."
His hand clenches up.
"This is why I said everything I did," He snarls in return, putting more pressure on his wound. "I knew I would never want you to try to handle what I am!"
"You never let me try," You hiss. "You refused to tell me anything, to let me see what your life was like. No, you chose to shut me out! And don't you dare tell me what I can or can't handle."
He huffs. "I see no reason in dragging you, or anyone else, in when it isn't needed."
"Yet Lee brought me here tonight." You point out. "He knows something you clearly don't."
"Lee is a nosy fucker." He snaps.
"He's someone who's experienced it all. His soulmate is gone, Seungcheol."
"And look at the pain it caused him. At least if anything happens to me, it's no love lost for you."
"Shut up."
"What?"
"I said shut up. Sometimes people want to help you. Sometimes people wouldn't actually mind, I don't know, going into this Heart place to check on you. Sometimes, you need to get it into your thick skull that I actually want to be here, to make sure you don't die while this stupid snapdragon is burned into me!"
His eyes meet yours.
"But you won't get it!" You chuckle. "You send men to check on me when I’m in pain, but I doubt you have any intention of finding me after all this gets better."
"You think I wanted to?" He shoots back.
"And you think I had it all settled for me? That I was better off not knowing the person that was meant for me, this whole time?"
"I never wanted that." Seungcheol insists hotly. "Look at my world, it's a mess, a violent place, a--"
"And there has to be a reason I'm the one picked out!" You defend. "Do you have any idea what snapdragons stand for?"
When he doesn't reply, you continue. "It stands for grace and strength. I can handle all of this. I'm not meant to measure up with your headstrong personality anyway."
"Then what are you meant for?" He asks, tone now soft, dejected.
"To complement you," You reply. You've never been this sure in your life. "To make up for the traits you lack. I'm not supposed to be as strong, or as fierce as you are. I'm meant to... ground you. That's what soulmates are. To... allow each other's strengths to shine and make up for what they don't have yet."
Seungcheol goes quiet.
"And you?" He asks, after a long pause. "What do I complement you in?"
You survey him again. "That's something I can't discover yet, because you won't let me."
“So what do you suggest?” He continues.
“No more hiding. Show me who you are. No restraint, I don’t need you to keep anything secret.”
“What if you end up like Lee?”
“Then it would have been a life well spent, at least.”
Seungcheol grunts with effort as he leaves his seat and stumbles to you. "And if I obeyed, and let you in?"
You look at him square in the eye. "Then it would be my honour to stand with you... or in the shadows, or wherever you make me stand."
"This sounds a lot like an induction of one of my men," Seungcheol murmurs. "I don't want that."
"Then what do you want?" You ask softly.
Seungcheol looks down at you, emotions warring in his eyes. After a while, he slumps and turns away. “Fuck. I can’t do this to you.”
“Tell me what you want, Seungcheol,” You say quietly. “You order people around for a living. I’m telling you to be honest with me, too.”
"…You. With me. Wherever you, or I, want to be."
You shrug a little as he cups your face. "I can live with that."
"You better," Seungcheol mumbles, as his mouth finds yours at last, burning more than any wretched tattoo, warmth spreading to your fingertips. "After everything you just said... I don't imagine you're going anywhere for a while."
February 14, 2026
The doctor came to patch him up. His hand squeezed yours hard as the bullet was finally pried out of him.
It's honestly a blur to you now when you think about it, but all you remember is his eyes boring into yours, his unwavering, callused grip on your hand.
"The snapdragon symbolises strength and grace reflected in their tall, strong stems, blooms and resistance to colder temperatures. Others believe they also represent deception and deviousness.
She embodied grace. She was his missing piece, the trait he needed to complement his headstrong nature. But he also needed someone strong enough to stand with him, through every obstacle his work throws him in. And she... she needed his courage and unwavering will to stand with her through it all."
You put the pen down. Mmm. Not too bad for a closing chapter. You send a text to the new publishing house that you contacted two weeks ago. They had seen your draft, and they loved it. Two weeks from now, when everything is settled, you promise yourself, you will show Seungcheol. He'd been curious for a while now about what holed you up in your writing room.
"Love?"
You look up from biting into your croissant. "Well, look who's back from Sicily. How did the meetings go?"
Seungcheol smiles and opens his arms. "Not too bad. I suppose the love you share for novels, along with the Don's* wife, was a selling point. She was most keen on sending you," He cocks his head to the pile of books at his feet, "this. She said it'd make a good Valentines' gift, since I've been poor at accompanying you these few months."
"That sounds perfect. We're both suckers for romances."
As you sink into his embrace, the tattoo once again burns, but it's not the passionate, red-hot zealous heat. It's warm, comforting, like a hot chocolate in winter.
He sighs. "Happy Valentines', love. I'm going to lose my girl to a bunch of fictional mafia men again?"
"You know it."
"I still don't understand why. You have one right here, next to y-"
"Softer! Do you want the whole town to hear you?"
fin.

************************************************
Harry has never been one to talk much.
It is one of the reasons why he chose the career of software developing. Most of it, he could do on his own.
It wasn't so much that Harry hated people, he just preferred his own company. More people tend to complicate things, and Harry is a more logical guy.
That was until he met you.
About three months ago, the company for which Harry worked had started their expansion, and he was to lead the people transferred to that section of the firm. With the expansion also came new employees, and that’s where you came in.
You had been temporarily hired by the company to weed out applicants, and assist the current HR manager to help with the job interviews.
Harry still remembers that first day when you walked into the office, all nervous and fidgety. He had spotted you through the glass walls of his office, and couldn't physically tear his eyes off of you.
It wasn't until your third day helping in the office, that you actually met Harry. You had no idea what to think of him. Well, besides the obvious, of course. He was ridiculously handsome, and from the way he was staring at you, you figured that maybe he was thinking something like that about you too.
But he didn't talk.
Your first time meeting consisted of nothing but a gruff 'nice to meet you' from Harry's side, and no input in the rest of the conversation whatsoever. It was only a couple days later, when you asked the HR manager about it, that you found out that's just how he was, that he didn't really talk to anyone. From that moment on, there had been a surge of motivation to let him make you the one exception.
Harry was just fascinated by you, and he had no idea why. You were a ball of energy, talking so fast you'd think someone had clicked on your 'sped up' button, and you were chaotic, all over the place. The amount of times he watched you bump into people was impossible to keep count of.
Then, one day, you bumped into him. It should have angered him, the spilt coffee on his pants. But he had an extra suit, and you looked so worried, he didn't want to make you feel worse. You still felt bad, though, so you decided to make it up to him, and started getting him coffee every morning.
By the end of the first week, he looked you in the eyes when he thanked you. By the end of the fourth, he'd ask you how you are and recall things you'd told him. By the end of sixth, he told you things about his life, and by the end of the tenth week, you were having longer conversations with him.
It was difficult to keep up the small talk with him in the beginning. You soon found out that his lone wolf attitude may had something to do with his awkwardness. You thought, perhaps people weren't willing to work through that, and eventually he just stopped trying.
Such a prospect made you sad, and it only motivated you more to get to know him better. Of course, the longing glances, and standing unnecessarily close to each other with his knuckles barely touching your arm, those things helped too.
There was an undeniable tension between the two of you that you found incredibly difficult to decipher. The way he'd let you catch him looking at you gave it away quite clearly, but the lack of any real initiative confused you.
Had you read it all wrong? Did he even think there was something there too?
Unfortunately, there was no way to find out, as your assignment at the company was coming to an end. Today had been your last day, and tonight is a launch party to officially celebrate the expansion of the company.
You were a little sad to leave the company, especially since you really liked the people working there. It is why you are most excited for tonight.
Wearing a long yellow dress—it is your favorite color—you stride into the building. You are mesmerized by all the balloons and how pretty everyone looks. Wearing expensive suits or classy dresses. You immediately realize you might be a bit too happily dressed; everyone is wearing darker colors.
It does make it easy for everyone to spot you, though. By the time you've gotten your drink, five people have already walked up to you. About half an hour into the party, the CEO of the company takes the stage to give a small speech.
"I would like to thank everyone who has participated in making this expansion go as smoothly as it did. Your work does not go unnoticed." He says through the microphone. Everyone claps for a few seconds, and the man waits to go on until it is quiet again.
"Now, I have a special announcement to make. I have wanted to make this expansion happen since I began working for this company in 1988. Now that I finally have, I feel that my job at this firm is done. And so, I have decided to retire from my position as CEO."
Your eyes widen at the speech; you had no idea this was even a thing. By the sound of the gasps and murmurs traveling through the room, you deduce that the news is unexpected for the rest of the company as well.
"It is also with great pride that I present the new CEO of our company, chosen after careful consideration. If mr. Harry Styles could please join me on stage."
Your mouth falls open at the mention of Harry's name, and you are certain you will never be able to close it again when you see him walking onto the stage. He wears a black suit, perfectly tailored to his body, and the sight of him has you concerned that you may be drooling.
The bald man hands the microphone to Harry, who does not look very pleased to be on stage; it almost seems like he is regretting his decisions. Until his eyes meet yours, that is when you see him let out a breath.
"Thank you, Mr. Johnson." He says, breaking eye contact to look at his former boss.
Right, that was his name, Johnson.
"I look forward to leading this company into more successes, and I promise that I will put my heart and soul into it. I have worked at this firm ever since I graduated college and they offered me a job during my internship, and it is safe to say that I have not regretted that decision a day of my life. I have always been loyal to this company, and I will remain loyal to you. Thank you."
You are perplexed. Why did he never tell you about this? You are very happy for him, but you do find it weird. It also makes you doubt again. Did whatever you had been building up the last months not mean as much to Harry as it did to you?
Well, it doesn't really matter, you're gone after tonight anyway.
Once the shock of the news has calmed down a bit, the party resumes as normal. Most people visit Harry one by one to congratulate him on the position, but you steer clear from him. It is no use, after tonight you will probably never see him again anyway.
Time passes, and you think you're ready to go home. There was a file in the office you forgot to sign earlier today, so you head up to do that first. The office is entirely dark when you walk out of the elevator. It's kind of eerie, so you are quick to turn on the lights.
It takes you a few minutes to find the file, since the receptionist placed it on someone else's desk. You find it on your colleague's desk, and walk over to the receptionist desk to sign it. Laying it on the keyboard of her computer, you pray that she won't displace it again, and make your way back to the elevators.
A loud shriek escapes you when Harry suddenly walks around the corner. He covers his ears at the high pitched sound, shocked by how much he scared you. With your hand on your chest you try and steady your breathing.
"Jesus, you scared the crap out of me."
"Sorry, didn't mean to." He says, a bit of worry in his tone. You look up at him.
"What are you even doing up here?"
"I was looking for you." He shrugs.
"Why?" Your eyebrows furrow, that same old tension in your stomach settling like it does every time Harry looks at you for longer than two seconds.
"You've been avoiding me." He answers casually, and you feel your heart drop. You didn't think he'd catch onto it.
"Congratulations by the way, for being the CEO. That was definitely a surprise." There is a bitterness in your tone. It is Harry's turn to frown. He hears the condescension, but his mind can't seem to come to a conclusion. Why are you angry? It's so hard to tell.
This is why he doesn't do people.
"You're mad that I am CEO?" He guesses, and your mouth falls open, much like it did when Harry's new position got announced.
"What?! Of course not! I'm very happy for you." You sputter out. The last thing you'd want him to think is that you don't want him to be happy or satisfied or successful.
"But you're still avoiding me." He repeats slowly. "You know, I didn't tell you about it because no one was supposed to know. I had to sign for it and everything. It's nothing personal."
The painful grip that his potential distrust in you had on your heart releases at the sound of his words. You could have known that it was due to something like that, you work in HR after all. That fact alone makes you realize how invested you unknowingly had become in Harry.
"I...I figured." You give him a weak smile. Harry's eyes search for yours, holding onto your gaze once he has found it. You stay like that, staring at each other for a while until you break the silence.
"I'm heading home. I don't think I'll see you again, so good luck. I'm sure you'll do wonderfully."
With much difficulty, you manage to look away from Harry and walk past him. At least, you try to, because halfway through, Harry's hand grabs your arm. You stop in your tracks, looking back at the man who stopped you. The man who has been sending you mixed signals for the past few months.
"D– do you want to join me in my office?"
You refrain from the shiver that threatens to run down your entire body, and nod. Harry's hand slides down your arm to your hand, and he intertwines his fingers with yours before he leads you to the glass doors that belong to him. On your way there, he flicks off the lights, leaving the two of you in the dark.
The city lights light up the otherwise pitch dark office that belongs to Harry, for now. He will be moved to the CEO's office when he starts his new position.
You don't say anything as Harry closes the door, or as he walks to the closet and pulls out a bottle of whiskey and two glasses. You wait in anticipation of what he's going to do.
But then he sits down. He just sits down on his chair.
You stand there, staring at him, utterly confused about this man and his intentions with you, while he obliviously pours the whiskey into the glasses. In that moment, there is a switch inside of you, one that says: fuck it. This is your last day, you need a way to release this pent up tension, and you probably won't see him ever again after this. What have you got to lose? Nothing.
You walk over to the desk and sit down on it, extremely close to Harry. The split of your dress shows your bare, freshly shaved leg, and he seems to notice. His eyes pull to your legs like magnets, and he has to force himself to look you in the eyes as he hands you the glass of whiskey.
You try your best not to smirk at the effectiveness of your plan, focusing on your next move instead. Straight for the kill.
"So, why am I here, Harry?" You ask nonchalantly, taking a sip of your whiskey. It tastes quite strong, and it takes you a lot of effort not to have an expressive reaction to it.
"What?" He asks, eyes wide like a deer in headlights.
"Why'd you take me here?" You ask again, setting down your glass at the table before moving to stand in front of him. "To admire the view?"
Harry looks out the window, but his head shoots back to you when he notices you're sinking onto your knees in front of him. He thinks he may have forgotten to breathe as he observes the lustful look in your eyes. His eyes travel down to your tits, even more visible from this angle.
"Because I've admired it every day for the past three months." You continue. Harry swallows, frozen by the overload of his brain and the sensitivity of the growing constraint in these pants. "Why don't you take your pants off for me? Just enough to give me your cock. I like you in this suit."
Harry doesn't let another second fly by before he is unbuckling his pants, sliding it down just enough for you to have access to his cock and his balls. Your mouth waters at the size and girth of it, your cunt getting wetter with every passing moment.
You shimmy forward, leaning over his cock and grabbing it with your hand. Harry sighs at the minimal contact, making you feel even more powerful. Looking up at him through your lashes, you ask him one more question.
"You'll hold my hair, won't you?"
With that, you take Harry in your mouth as far as you can, before pulling away from him. A gasp leaves his mouth, and his eyes fall shut as you pump him with your hand while your mouth kisses and sucks on the head of his cock. You begin licking and kissing down his cock, while your hand softly feels up his balls.
Harry feels like he is in heaven already, and he forgets everything around him. It is only when you completely remove yourself from him that he opens his eyes again, and he sees. Catching on quickly, he leans forward and gathers your hair, twisting it around his palm.
Satisfied with Harry's obedience, your mouth attaches itself to his cock again. You take him slowly, teasingly, and move your head up and down. With every movement, you take him an inch deeper.
"Oh, f–fuck!" He groans out when you gag on him because you took yourself too far too fast. You steady your breathing, which is a bit more complicated as you can only breathe out your nose. You resume sucking him off for a bit longer, bobbing your head down a bit faster. The small sounds that leaves Harry's lips, along with his scrunched up face, gives you enough indication that he is approaching his climax.
So you remove your mouth from his cock.
He lets out a whine at the loss of contact. If your panties weren't wet before, they certainly are now. You smile at the state of him; desperate and needy for you. The fact that you've managed to make him fall apart like this makes you incredibly horny.
"I want to take all of you in my mouth, daddy." You tell him, looking up at him with your big eyes. "You'll have to help me."
You went out on a bit of a limb when you decided to call him daddy, but he doesn't seem to mind at all. In fact, Harry's eyes light up and his jaw slacks at the mention of the pet name.
"Shit– anything, sweetheart. Whatever you need." He croaks out.
"I need you to fuck my mouth." You respond sternly, not wasting any time and taking him between your lips again. You push yourself down his cock as far as you can, breathing deeply before moving your hand to Harry's hand, which is holding onto your hair, and pushing your head forward to indicate that he needs to push his cock down your throat.
Again, it doesn't take him long to listen, because Harry's hips thrust forward, his dick gliding into your throat. You moan at the force with which he pushed, and keep your mouth wide open as you let Harry navigate your head.
Once he fully understands that you are allowing him to let him use your mouth, the true fun begins. With the firm grip he has on your head, he pushes you up and down at an ungodly speed. Your jaw is already tiring from its locked position, but you power through it because the sounds that leave Harry's mouth make up for it.
"Fuck baby, such a good mouth. Never had anything like this... Jesus!" He pants out as he begins to thrust up into your mouth, and you feel like you might pass out. Suddenly, he pulls you away from his dick.
You frown, and realize as he is grabbing for a tissue that he is avoiding messing up your face. You don't stand for it, though, and wrap your lips around his cock again just in time for him to come inside your mouth. You take him deeper and feel the way his sperm shoots in the back of your throat.
"Fuck! Shit, shit..." The not so wide arrange of curse words are the only thing Harry is capable of saying as he dumps his load inside your mouth. The fact that you were so adamant about having his sperm in your mouth made his orgasm even more intense.
Your mouth lets go of his cock with an exaggerated plop, and you swallow every last bit of him, grinning at his fucked out face.
"That was... amazing." He sighs, his gaze flicking from your mouth to your eyes. You hum in agreement, and get up from the floor as he pulls up his pants. You are about to walk away, when Harry grabs your wrist.
"Where are you going?"
"Home." You answer with a smile, but Harry's grip on you only tightens. He shakes his head, his lips pouting.
"No, you need to stay. Let me make you feel good too." He protests. You squint your eyes at him.
"I don't need to do anything."
Harry's eyes widen. "You're right. But just let me make you feel good before you go, please? It's the least I can do."
Your mouth slowly forms into a grin, glad to have him where you want. Well, almost.
"Beg me."
Harry scoffs. "Are you serious? I don't really do begging."
You shrug, smiling at him. "That's fine. My vibrator can get me off too."
You take a few steps towards the door, while Harry contemplates his decisions. However, those were all clouded by the sole moment to please you the second you mentioned your vibrator. The image of you getting off like that is too much to bear. He needs to do it for you.
"Stop." He says. You turn around, and walk back to him as he gets out of his chair and gets on his knees. Grabbing your waist, he pulls you closer, his nose digging into your dress. His hands run up and down your legs, and it is making you weak in your knees.
"Please, let me eat you out baby. I'll do anything to make you feel good. I need to taste you so bad, please let me pleasure you."
You swallow, eyelids ready heavy, as you sigh out. "Alright."
Harry grins at your admittance of defeat, and stands up. He leads you to sit on his desk, your dress hiked up. He removes the stuff behind you, so that you can lean back entirely in case you want to, and waltzes over to his chair.
Spreading your legs, he rolls himself closer to you, and assesses your soaking wet panties. Chuckling, he leans to the side and grabs a pair of scissors, before he cuts the skimpy material from your body. You'd say something of it, but the sight of him admiring your pussy like this is too fascinating to interrupt. So, you keep quiet.
When Harry's thumb suddenly presses on your clit and begins to rub it, you can't help but gasp. His touch feels too good, and that blowjob got you really worked up.
"You have no idea how many times I've fantasized about this." Harry says, marveling at how reactive you are being.
"Me too."
His eyebrows rise up. "Yeah? Tell me more, baby."
You bite your lip, too obsessed with the pet name he's given you. It sounds so sexy coming from his mouth. He awaits your response with bright eyes, lazily rubbing your clit.
"Your arms... I'd think about them so much. And your hands, I'd imagine you choking me with them. They're so big..." You begin, and you know that you could go on for hours if you had to tell him about everything you've thought about doing with him, or doing to him.
Harry doesn't say anything, instead responds with two fingers entering your pussy. You moan at the feeling of his large fingers pumping in and out of you. It feels way fuller than your hand already. His two fingers is the equivalent of your three fingers.
"We can definitely make those fantasies come true..." Harry says softly. "But first, let's make you come, hmm?"
You nod, your head falling back and allowing yourself to fully indulge in the pleasure Harry's giving you right now. You let yourself lay on his desk, wrapping your legs around his shoulders.
"Fuck, that feels good– oh fuck!" You shriek out when Harry tongue begins attacking your tongue after he adds a third finger. He speeds up the movements of his hand to match those of his tongue, and holds onto that tempo until your mind can't conjure up any more words to speak to him.
With the control entirely out of your hands, you let Harry guide you to your orgasm, which washes over your body like a tidal wave. You unconsciously push Harry's head further into your pussy with your legs. With an arched back, you moan at the sensitivity of your clit.
Harry lets you take a minute to catch your breath before he pulls on your arms to have you sit up straight. He is smiling sweetly at you, and your heart warms at it.
"You okay?" He asks, kissing your hands. You nod, trying to ignore the flutters in your heart at the way he is being so gentle.
"Thank you for letting me make you feel good, baby." He says, getting up and leaning into your face. His nose brushes against your cheek as he plants his lips on yours. Your arms wrap around Harry's neck as you kiss him deeper, too caught up in how good he feels and how much you want him.
You're never this greedy. You've never felt like you needed a man's cock inside of you. Like it was the only feasible option. You feel it driving you crazy, and you're sure it is the only reason you say— no, ask:
"Please, fuck me."
The grin that forms on Harry's lips makes you feel like you should regret what you said. A grin like that usually belongs on your face in situations like these. But you need him so bad, you don't really care that you are the desperate one this time.
"Oh, you're begging now too, huh?" He says cockily. You glare at him, pissed that he's acknowledging your neediness and mocking you for it too.
"It's alright baby, I'll give it to you. 'M cock's already hard again from watching you come like that. So fucking sexy..." He says. He pulls his pants down and lifts you off the table, turning you around to the glass windows and pushing your hands against them. "Bend over a bit and speak your legs for me, baby."
You do as he says, biting your lip at Harry's hand that pushes away your dress and roams over your ass. He positions his cock at your entrance and pushes himself into you, sighing in pure relief. You shut your eyes tightly at the size of him filling you up.
"Fuck, you feel good baby." He says, slowly beginning to move in and out a bit. You let out a soft 'yes', causing Harry's jaw to clench. He spanks your ass, watching as it bounces from the impact, and his cock twitching at your yelp.
"Perfect fucking ass... perfect fucking girl, aren't you?" He groans, now lazily thrusting into you. He wants to give you time to adjust, but he learns your wishes when you begin to push yourself back into him.
"Ah, I see. Greedy girl wants to speed things up, hmm? Your wish is my command." He mocks, but does speed up his pace. His hands hold your waist as he begins to pound himself into you, your ass shaking at the impact. He spanks your ass again for good measure, obsessed with the way it moves.
You nearly lose yourself in how good it feels, but you know that he can get deeper than this.
"I want to ride you... want to feel you in my tummy." You spit out, hoping he understands what you're saying in your croaky voice.
Harry listens, pulling himself out of you immediately and taking a seat in the chair. You turn around and walk over to him, throwing your legs on both sides of his lap, before grabbing his cock and sinking yourself down on it.
It goes smoother this time, but Harry's really deep now, just like you wanted. The sensation is everything to you, and it isn’t hard to tell how good it feels for him too. Glad to have a bit of the control back, you start to bounce on his cock.
Harry’s eyes travel over your body, fascinated by the way you are moving above him. His hands travel to the straps of your dress and push them down until he can get your tits out of the top part of your dress. He begins to massage them as you keep impaling yourself on his dick over and over again.
"Fuck, daddy, you feel so good... so good for me. Listening to me. Knew this was the best way to fuck you... you love it." You slur happily. Harry nods profusely at your words, jaw clenched and moaning out in pleasure.
"Yes, needed it so bad baby. You're fucking daddy so good..."
You smile at how caught up Harry looks in his pleasure, like he doesn't know what to do with it. You, however, do know what to with it. You grab one of his hands and wrap it around your throat, before you do the same to him. With his hand on your neck and yours on his, you begin to fuck him as fast as you can.
"Ah, fffuck... shit! Holy shit!" He yells out, and automatically thrusts himself up into you, reaching an even further level of deepness you had never thought possible. That along with your hands on each other’s necks, is enough to know that your climaxes are near.
"Come inside me daddy." You pant out, and he does. It is as if your permission set him off. You smile in delight at the feel and knowledge of his cum being so deep inside of you.
You fuck Harry through his orgasm, and even after. He squirms in his seat. "Wait— too sensitive."
"I don't care, I haven't come yet. Don't you want to make me feel good? Have me coming around your thick cock?" You say sensually, and Harry nods. "Words."
"Yes– fuck! I want you to come, please come around my cock. Please, please..." He begins to beg, a tear rolling down his cheek.
Your toes curl at his whiny voice, and soon your juices are gushing all over his cock. Your pussy contracting around him seems to set Harry off even more, as you feel even more sperm spraying out of his dick and into your walls.
You ride out your high until you can't move anymore. You sit there, forehead pressed against Harry's as you both come down from what just happened.
After a minute or two, you decide to pull out. Slowly but surely, you manage to get Harry's dick out of you without hissing too much at the sensitivity of every single body part down there.
You lean against the desk, too wobbly to stand on your own, and you let Harry wipe you clean with the tissues on his desk. After cleaning himself up, he stands up and positions himself in front of you.
"Hey." He says. Your hand cups his jaw and your thumb wipes away the tear that is far down his face now.
"Hi." You tilt your head. The both of you burst out laughing, still surprised by what went down just now.
"That was really good." He says once the laughter has died down. You nod in agreement.
"Good enough for a repeat?"
Harry pretends to think it over, before he responds: "under one condition."
"And what would that be?" You quirk up an eyebrow, intrigued by his vagueness. He smiles at you so wide that you wonder if his mouth might be hurting.
"You let me take you out on a date first."
You roll your eyes, pretending not to be amused as he chuckles at your reaction. But the second you see the look on his face and the sincerity behind it, you realize that he is being quite serious about this request. You bite your lip, wanting to kiss him right then and there.
"I would love that."

Secret Santa
Eddie Munson x Reader
Description: Mrs. O'Donnell's yearly Secret Santa finally went well this year for Eddie Munson
Word Count: 870
------
Each year Mrs. O’Donnell had the idea to have her class take part in secret santa. Whether you liked who you got or not, you had to participate. It was a grade. As for Eddie Munson, someone who didn’t give a single fuck about his grades and shitty classmates, always managed to skip it for the last two years. This year though, he was way too determined to graduate to care about any of that. Plus this year it was different. Y/N was in his class.
The two had never actually spoken to each other, but they would always steal glances at one another. There was something about her that he was so drawn to. That’s why he was secretly hoping he would get to be her secret santa. He’d finally get a reason to talk to her.
But alas, luck is never on Eddie’s side. He reached into the Santa hat that had the class names inside and pulled out Tina’s name. ‘Great.’ He thought to himself. He watched as the hat got around to Y/N as she went to pull out a name. He didn’t see the name, but he most definitely did see how she didn’t look his way. ‘There goes my chances.’
—
The day of secret santa Eddie walks into class holding a little gift bag with some candy. No way was he actually going to try getting a genuine gift for these assholes. He sat in his seat as the class started to pile in.
“Alright class, now that everyone is here you may all hand out your gifts.” Mrs. O’Donnell says, wearing that stupid cursed santa hat.
The whole class starts moving around and Eddie makes his way over to Tina’s desk. He places the bag down without a word, knowing she wouldn’t want to speak to him anyway. Eddie makes his way back to his seat and slouches down into it. He knew nobody would actually care to give the freak a gift, so he reaches into his bag to pull out his notebook full of campaign ideas, deciding to work on that instead.
From the corner of his eyes he can see the chair beside him being pulled out. To his surprise, it’s Y/N.
“No way you actually got Tina a gift.” She smirks and sits down.
“Nah, just some candy. Didn't even try.” Eddie says calmly, even though he is internally screaming right now.
Y/N lets out a small laugh in response and then reaches down to her backpack. “Well, in case you were wondering why I’m here, I am in fact your secret santa.” she says as she pulls out a little gift box and then an even smaller gift box sitting on top.
Eddie is in so much shock he doesn’t even respond and lets her place the gifts on his desk. She doesn’t seem bothered by his silence and instead smiles and says, “I didn’t really have the money for an actual gift, so I made you some stuff instead.”
He reaches forward and grabs the smaller box first. He opens up the top to reveal a bracelet made out of guitar strings with some added charms of a skull and spider. “No way. This is so cool!” Eddie says through excitement, nearly jumping out his seat. Some students looked over at his mini outburst, but he couldn’t give a single shit right now. “I thought you might like that.” Y/N says with a grin, happy to see him enjoying his first gift.
“How’d you know I play guitar?”
“Well, it wasn’t hard to guess," she says as she looks him up and down, "but I did see you at the music store in the mall a few weeks ago buying some new guitar picks. That’s what gave me the idea for your next gift.”
Eddie had almost forgotten that there was another gift box sitting in front of him. He slips the bracelet onto his wrist and then reaches to open the other gift box. This time, he was truly at a loss for words. He reached into the box and picked up a little mini bouquet made out of wires for stems and guitar picks as the petals.
“Do you like it?”
Eddie looks up almost in disbelief, “Do I like it? What kind of question is that? Y/N, this is insane!” He twirls the three flowers in his fingers to inspect them even more. Dark red and blue picks held together by hot glue, and even had some green picks as leaves.
He looks back up at Y/N, trying to contain his smile, and says, “I have to get you something now. These are way too good for me to not get you anything in return.”
“Eddie, it's fine. It’s a part of the game, you don’t need to get me anything.” Y/N replies, also trying to contain a smile.
“No, that’s so unfair! C’mon, just one gift. I’ll even let you pick. It can be anything, well, almost anything. I’m on a tight budget here, but you get my point.”
“Anything?”
“Anything.”
“How about a date?”
Up until this moment Eddie had never given a damn about Mrs. O'Donnells, but holy shit was he sure thankful for her right now.
"A date it is."

“Relax, baby. This is literally my family’s yacht. Technically, it’s mine too so don’t worry.” Rafe assured you for the hundredth time, rotating the helm of the boat to move farther away from the dock.
Your boyfriend has always been unpredictable, so when he slowly woke you up half an hour ago because he couldn’t sleep, you had no idea that you two would end up sneaking away his parents’ yacht at three in the morning. A part of you was nervous, knowing that Ward tends to get pissed over the littlest things that Rafe did. But another voice was lulling you to just enjoy the night breeze.
“I know, I know. But what if—” You blabbed.
“Stop, sweetheart. We won’t even go that far.”
You sighed, walking over behind Rafe to wrap your arms around his waist while he continued to maneuver the boat far enough to isolate the two of you from the island.
“See? Isn’t this nice?” He smiled proudly, holding your hand to take you to the couch, easily pulling you to his lap.
Your breathing was quiet, hands firm on top of Rafe’s wrapped arms on your waist. He was occasionally giving you some soft kisses on the forehead and cheeks when you broke the silence. “So how exactly is this going to help you sleep?”
“It probably won’t.” He answered bluntly.
You chuckled, watching over the soft ripples on the surface of the lake.
You were on the verge of falling asleep on Rafe’s lap when you felt one of his hands move from your waist to your right thigh, thumb softly rubbing the skin. You didn’t think much of it and let out a small yawn, but he moved his hand further up, making you roll your eyes.
“Hey.”
“What?” Rafe replied innocently, pressing a soft kiss on the side of your neck.
“I know what you’re doing.” You huffed. Sitting up straight but still not leaving his lap. “Did you just bring me here for sex?”
Rafe let out a fake gasp, but his eyes shone with mischief. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“You know, we could’ve just done it in your bedroom.”
“Where’s the thrill in that?”
“So you admit! You just want sex.” You raised your brow.
“Well, yes and no. I really couldn’t sleep but now you just look so pretty and we’re all alone here.” He said, tugging the bottom of your shirt.
You groaned, not that you were annoyed with him. You’re annoyed with yourself for liking the idea. It is no secret that you and Rafe have always been sexually active, always trying out new things that one of you may be curious about. Your sex drive matches with his, and it is one of the things that you two love about each other. So the thought of giving yourself to your boyfriend in the middle of the night underneath the stars tempted you so much. And you shamelessly fell for it.
You looked down at his groin, already noticing the bulge through his khaki shorts despite the slight darkness. You pressed your hands against him and gave it a hard squeeze, surprising Rafe.
“Fuck, baby.” He gasped, hips raising upwards slightly.
“You want me, Rafey?” You whispered, giving him the most innocent look you can muster. But Rafe can see right through you, knowing that your question was all he needed as a signal to make a move.
Rafe didn’t answer. Instead, he grabbed the back of your neck and pulled your face towards him, kissing you roughly. His tongue glided over your lower lip, making you open your mouth to let him in. Without breaking contact, you fully turned your body to face his, grinding slightly while tangling your fingers in his hair.
He put both of his hands on your hips, heavy breaths occasionally leaving his lips but never breaking the kiss. It was you who pulled away first after a while, gasping for air but wasting no time unbuttoning his shorts.
“Eager, are we?” He smirked, lips red from kissing you.
“Shut up.” You replied, hurrying to pull out his huge manhood as you positioned yourself from his lap to kneel on the floor.
“Go ahead, baby. Suck my cock off like a good girl.” He cooed, stroking the top of your head.
You gave him a sweet smile before giving his tip a lick, making sure to never break eye contact. Rafe threw his head back, whispering a curse under his breath. You grinned at his reaction, ego growing higher as you wrapped your lips around his head.
Rafe almost thanked the sky above for your mouth. He has always been proud of having you. A smart, rich, and polite girl; a literal angel, as others have said. But they don’t know what kind of a freak you are behind those innocent dresses and wide eyes. None of them know except Rafe, and he intends to keep it that way.
You kept sucking him off, pushing yourself to take in as much as you can even as tears brimmed your eyes. You wrapped your slender fingers around the area that you couldn’t take, loving the way he tasted.
Rafe’s head was pulled backward, his chest rising and falling heavily while he muttered praises and curses. He was on the verge of his release when he suddenly put both of his hands on your shoulder.
“No, I want to cum in your pussy.” He panted, pulling you up by the arms. He gently pushed you against the couch so that you were now the one sitting. He stood up and hurriedly removed his clothes, your eyes in awe while watching him. “Like what you see, baby?”
You grinned, pulling your shirt upwards, and expertly removed the clasp of your bra. Rafe’s eyes were trained on your breasts as soon as you freed them, but he wasted no time removing your shorts and panties at the same time.
“Fuck. There’s my pretty pussy.” His eyes were steadily trained on your cunt as he leaned down at eye level. It was as if he was hypnotized as he brought one hand to your folds, gliding his forefinger up and down. He smirked when he noticed the thin sheer wetness in the middle.
“Rafey…” You whined.
“What is it, sweetheart?”
“Fuck me already.”
“You’re a bossy girl, aren’t you?” Rafe chuckled amusedly. “Patience, darling. ‘Gotta prepare you nicely first.”
He continued to tease you, never touching your clit or pushing a finger inside of you. With each moment that you grow irritated, the wetness of your womanhood increases. When Rafe sensed that you were about to curse him off, he suddenly inserted two fingers in, making you gasp.
“Shit.” You breathed, soft moans leaving your lips as he curled his fingers before pumping faster.
Rafe placed his thumb on your clit, making you squeal in both surprise and pleasure. You swore you almost saw stars when he did so, one hand reaching downwards in an attempt to grab onto the couch for support while the other reached for his wrist.
He ticked his tongue at the action, using his free hand to pull your hand away.
Rafe lowered his head until your legs were leveled with his face, inhaling your scent while still fingering you. He brought his lips closer until you could feel his breath near your folds, making you shiver.
“Rafe, please fuck me… fuck.” You pleaded.
“I will, darling. But I have to taste this pussy first.” Without warning, he removed his thumb from your clit, replacing it with his lips. You screamed at the contact, suddenly thankful that no one could hear you.
Rafe continued to play with your clit, tugging the small nub with his teeth while pushing his tongue inside you. You were almost crying from pleasure, the overwhelming feeling of your boyfriend’s mouth and fingers in the same area was almost too much.
You were loudly moaning his name, hips lifting on their own as you pushed yourself closer to Rafe’s mouth. Your boyfriend grinned against you, his pride increasing with the knowledge that only he can make you feel this way.
You almost screamed in frustration when Rafe abruptly pulled away, licking his lips to savor your juices. “Ready, baby?”
“Yes, Rafe, fuck me please.”
“Always so polite.” He snickered, loving the way that your eyes turned hazy from all the pleasure. “Who am I to turn down my baby’s request, hm?”
With a swift move, Rafe quickly positioned his cock to align with your cunt before pushing himself in with one go. You gasp at the intrusion, shock, and ecstasy filling your body. Having sex with Rafe so many times has made you familiar with his size, but you still weren’t prepared for the amount of stretching that your womanhood would have to make to accommodate him.
He wasted no time and began thrusting, slowly at first to let you adjust.
“Shit. Your cunt is hugging me perfectly.” He gasped, building up his tempo.
You were too speechless to reply, the only thing that you could do was moan and grab his chest. Rafe placed one hand on your hip, and the other grabbed both your wrists to pull your hands above your head.
Sweats, gasps, and whines were the only sounds heard. Rafe’s hips collided with yours with strength, making you scream out his name. He admired the beads of sweat on your forehead, your skin illuminated by the moonlight. He always believed that you were the prettiest girl on this planet. And seeing you at this moment, naked and dewy with your face twisted in enjoyment, he knew he was right.
“Come on, darling. Give it to me.” He praised, knowing that you were close with how tightly you were squeezing him.
You mumbled his name over and over again, legs shaking as you wrapped them around his hips to pull him closer. Rafe cursed after seeing your action, thrusting harder and faster to chase both of your highs.
You were a crying mess underneath him, pleasure surging through all parts of your body. You opened your eyes slightly, admiring Rafe’s face before feeling the pressure on your lower abdomen.
“Fuck, Rafe. I’m gonna cum.”
“Go ahead, sweet girl. Cum for me. I want to feel you around my cock.” He urged, never breaking the pattern of his thrusts.
You screamed after a few more pushes, your vision blurring slightly as you squirted around him. Rafe came after you, gasping as he felt his warm liquid mix with your own inside your pussy.
You two were panting against each other, Rafe still inside you as he caught his breath. “You alright?” He asked, pushing a strand of hair away from your face.
You couldn’t reply, still breathing heavily but nodded instead. Rafe started to slowly pull out of you, making you whine.
“No, Rafey. Stay.” You pouted.
He smiled sweetly, lifting you so that he could sit on the couch without separating from you.
The two of you lay there, soft breaths coming out of your mouths while Rafe hugged you against his chest as you keep him warm in your cunt.
“Tired, baby?” He asked you after a while, noticing your droopy eyes.
You nodded, feeling warm against his body despite being exposed to cool air.
“Get some rest. I’ll be here when you wake up.” Rafe whispered, kissing you softly on the forehead.
Before closing your eyes, you vowed to sneak out with his yacht more open.

just found your account and i love your writing! would you make an imagine where bff jj and bff reader are obsessed with eachother and the’re both confident and always flirts with each other and its so obvious the’re in love with each other. dont really have a plot in mind i just really love the trope and dynamic you know

bsf!jj maybank x fem!reader | hurt & comfort | (slight angst, don’t want to spoil it so no more warnings!!!)
thankyou angel!!! hope this is okay, i strayed a bit from the request but this came to mind :)
︶︶︶ ⊹ ︶︶ ୨♡୧ ︶︶︶ ⊹ ︶︶︶
The dynamic between you and JJ was confusing, not just for the two of you but for everyone that ever came across you. Your friends had gotten used to the flirting, the touching and the goo-goo eyes you’d give each other across the room. Your classmates didn’t understand what you were to each other, you’d say you were best friends but then you’d be sat in his lap with him kissing your neck for the majority of a kegger.
“Why don’t you just admit it?” You had the same conversation at least once a week. Sarah was adamant that you had feelings for the blonde, she also had a bet going with John B that you’d be the first to confess.
“Because that would be lying,” you replied with a smirk, you were teasing her and she knew it.
“No it wouldn’t!” Sarah exclaimed, watching as you snorted into your drink. She glared at you. You may be amused, but she’s far from it.
“Look, I know you love the idea of me and JJ getting married, having babies and being in love but it’s just not gonna happen,” you explained with a shrug.
She huffed, taking a sip from her glass of wine. You figured she’d be pouting for the next hour, so you were surprised when you saw a small smirk play on her lips. You raised an eyebrow at her, tilting your head to the side as you waited for her to say what she was thinking.
“What’s the look about, Cameron?” You asked after she’d been silent for too long.
“I was just thinking,” she said, now grinning from ear to ear as if she’d had an epiphany. “If you don’t like JJ, then you wouldn’t mind him going on a date. Right?”
“JJ doesn’t date,” you responded quickly. It wasn’t an excuse, really it wasn’t. JJ isn’t a commitment kind of guy, his longest relationship is with the milk in his fridge.
“Trust me, he’ll want to date this girl. She came to the shop the other day and he was pretty much drooling,” Sarah stated. It was an exaggeration, but you didn’t need to know that. Not if her plan was going to work.
“And you know her?” You questioned, brows furrowing. You took a long sip of your wine, the thought of JJ drooling over a girl made your stomach turn.
Sarah nodded her head. “We went to school together.”
“She’s a Kook?” You laughed, all anxiety leaving your body. “Yeah, okay, good luck with that Sare.”
“Are you saying you’re okay with it?” Sarah asked.
“It’s non of my business who or what JJ dates. I’m not his girlfriend,” you responded. You didn’t need to worry. He wouldn’t say yes, not to a date with a Kook; maybe not to a date with anyone.
“Great,” Sarah shrugged, smiling smugly at you.
JJ and John B didn’t come back in from the shop until after the sun had set, you assumed they’d closed up a couple hours ago and ended up smoking a joint together so they didn’t have to share with everyone.
You and Sarah were laid on the couch, watching a movie. John B walked in first, a goody grin on his face at the sight of his wife. “Hello, ladies.”
“Good shift?” Sarah asked, leaning up so he could press a peck to his lips.
For a split second you felt lonely, before JJ came bouncing into the room and jumped on top of you. You groaned, shoving at his waist. “Ouch, J!”
“Missed ya,” he grinned, pressing dramatic kisses all over your face. You could feel Sarah’s gaze on you, you had to fight the urge to turn around and punch her.
“JJ, I’ve got you a date for Saturday night,” Sarah stated. She’d texted the girl, Chloe, earlier. You’d pretended not to care when Chloe had responded and said yes.
“Huh?” You could feel him freeze above you, eyes narrowing at her.
“A date, never heard of one?” She teased. “It’s with the girl that came into the shop the other day, Chloe? I already asked her and she said yes so unless you can come up with a valid reason not to go then you’re going.”
A valid reason. There was a very big one right underneath him, but he couldn’t say that. He racked his brain, but nothing came to mind. “Uh, alright, I guess. But you can’t be mad at me if I never call her again.”
“I can and I will. But, I don’t think that’ll be an issue. You guys are quite similar, she loves surfing, smokes a shit ton of weed and she’s hot. What else could you want?” Sarah asked.
“So you think I’m hot?” JJ joked, making John B reach over and punch him in the bicep. He groaned, letting out a laugh. “Sorry, sorry. I guess she sounds alright. What d’you think?”
You looked up, he was staring right at you. His head was tilted. He was asking for your permission. That’s not what best friend’s are supposed to do. Best friend’s don’t ask for permission to date other people, and they definitely don’t feel physically sick just at the idea of it.
“Sounds fun,” you murmured, giving him a fake smile.
He nodded slowly, as if he didn’t fully believe you. “I guess I’m going on a date then.”
“Guess you are.”
———
Saturday night came around far too quickly for your liking. All week, ever since JJ had agreed to go on this date, it’s all you could think about. You’d laid awake staring at the ceiling wondering what your relationship would be like if he had a girlfriend. During your shift together on Wednesday, you watched as he texted back and forth with someone; you assumed Chloe. Was he really that excited about this date he had to text her?
He didn’t mention it, not until he came into your room and asked for your help on picking a shirt. You picked the uglier one, but he still managed to look perfect.
“How do I look?” He asked, giving you a smirk as he pulled the collar down.
“Like a new man,” you teased, but your tone wasn’t as energetic as usual. You felt like shit, you shouldn’t be praying on your best friend’s downfall, you should be happy for him. But you can’t bring yourself to find this good.
“Well, gotta look good to impress a Kook,” he shrugged.
If this date was with you, you wouldn’t care what he wore. He could dress in a bin-bag and you’d still find him gorgeous. Over the last week you’ve come to the horrible realisation that maybe Sarah’s right. Maybe you do have feelings for JJ.
“You alright?” He asked softly, sitting down on the bed next to you.
“Huh? Yeah, I’m fine,” you nodded, giving him a small smile.
“You sure?” He didn’t look convinced, his hand rubbing your thigh gently. “Y’look upset. You want me to stay home? We can watch a movie or somethin’.”
“What? No, JJ, I’m fine, don’t be silly,” you laughed him off.
“It’s not silly if you need me,” he argued, other hand moving to stroke your hair. “You’d tell me if there was something wrong, right?”
You nodded your head, leaning up to kiss his cheek. “Go on, you’re gonna be late.”
“Will you text me if you need me?” He murmured, looking unsure. There was something going on in his head, but you weren’t sure you wanted to know what it was.
“Yeah, Jayj,” you reassured softly. “Have a good time, okay?”
“I will,” he smiled, kissing your temple. “See you later, sweetheart.”
You spent ten minutes moping in your bedroom before Sarah was storming in. “Are you going to admit it yet? Or are you going to sit in here all night crying?”
“I’m not crying,” you argued, glaring at her. It wasn’t her fault, not really, but you needed someone to be mad at and she was in the closest vicinity.
“You like him.” It wasn’t a question this time, it was a statement, and you didn’t deny it. “Get dressed, we’re gonna go get drunk.”
“What?” You sighed.
“You heard me. Put on something cute, put on a smile and get ready to get plastered. I’m sorry I set him up, and the way I’ll apologise is by getting you out of this funk,” Sarah ordered.
There was no use arguing with Sarah Cameron, you’d learnt that a long time ago. So, you forced yourself out of bed and put on a dress. John B didn’t say much when he drove the two of you to a sea-food restaurant on the pier, he just gave you a smile as you got out the Twinkie.
She lead you inside, it only took a few seconds for you to spot him. He was staring right at you, a gentle smile on his face. The most shocking part? There was no girl sat opposite him.
“What’s going on?” You asked, turning to look at Sarah.
“Have a good date,” she murmured, kissing your cheek before turning around and heading back out the door.
“Wha— Sarah!” You tried calling after her, you were sure you could hear her giggling.
JJ slowly stood up and walked towards you, stopping only a few inches away. He was grinning, you were utterly confused. “What the fuck is going on? Where’s Chloe?”
“Sarah never texted Chloe,” he said softly. “You think she’s a damn idiot? As if I’d ever go on a date with anyone but you.”
“I’m so confused right now,” you huffed. “You lied to me!”
There were people starting to stare at the two of you. JJ took your waist and lead you outside, giving the pair of you some privacy. “I wasn’t lying… At first. I thought she really did set me up, and I said yeah to be polite. I was gonna pretend to be sick or somethin’.”
“And then?”
“When you went to bed, she told me the real plan. I go on a ‘date’, she gets you here and we surprise you. I nearly blew it all off earlier, you looked upset and I never want to be the reason you’re upset,” JJ explained, letting out a sigh.
“What about all the texting? When we were on shift, you were constantly smiling at your phone,” you accused.
He smiled sheepishly, looking at the ground. “Sarah and John B were pretty excited about all this, they made a groupchat. My phones been blowing up all week.”
“What’s it called?” You murmured.
“Operation lovebirds,” he stated, making you giggle quietly.
“That’s stupid.”
“Yep.”
It was silent for a moment, him looking at you and you looking around as if someone was going to jump out with a camera and yell gotcha! You just had one more question, but it was probably the most important.
“Why are we on a date, JJ?” You asked quietly, finally making eye contact with him. “Why did you set all this up? Why do you have a groupchat?”
He gulped, letting out a deep breath. His arms wrapped around your waist, forehead leaning against yours. “Because I love you.” You were sort of expecting that, but your heart still fluttered in your chest. “And not as a best friend, I’ve been in love with you since you gave me your teddy bear ‘cause I told you I didn’t have any.”
Tears brimmed in your eyes, but a smile made its way onto your face. “I love you.”
“I know.” Tears ran down your face. The one thing JJ had never been sure of was that people cared about him, but with you he didn’t have to think twice. He wiped your tears, letting out a soft laugh. “Don’t gotta cry about it.”
“Shut up or I’m going home,” you warned, he chucked again.
He leant down, lips brushing against yours before he pulled you into him and stole the first kiss. You gasped against his mouth, but within seconds you were melting into his embrace and the smell of marijuana and his cologne.
“Most people kiss after the date,” you murmured against his lips, his arms squeezing you tightly.
“Yeah, well, most people also don’t take twelve years to admit how they feel.”

doggy play date —

prompt / request — "that's not even your dog.”
pairing — reader + non idol!dokyeom
word count — 882
genre — fluff

you were a regular at the cafe seokmin worked at. he’s had a crush on you ever since you came in for the first time months ago.
today, he finally worked up the courage to ask you out. except he made a teeny tiny mistake of asking you out on a play date for your dogs instead of a date with just you.
another mistake? he doesn’t even own a dog.
“can i borrow latte?” seokmin asks soonyoung the minute he walks into his friend’s apartment. “my… dog?” soonyoung questions, unsure if he’d heard the question correctly.
“no, your cup of coffee. yes your dog!” seokmin exclaims sarcastically. “but why?” soonyoung furrows his eyebrows.
“i may or may not have set up a date with a girl i met at a cafe,” he starts to explain. “good for you man,” soonyoung grins, patting his shoulder.
“except it’s less of a date for us and more of a play date for our dogs,” seokmin finishes as soonyoung just stares at him blankly.
“so you set up a date for your nonexistent dog,” soonyoung repeats. “i know i sound insane–” seokmin starts. “I’m surprised you didn’t go buy a dog,” soonyoung says.
“can i borrow latte or not?” he sighs. “if it’ll help your love life,” soonyoung smirks a little. “but you owe me big time.” he adds.
a couple days later, you meet at the dog park, letting your dogs get acquainted while you and seokmin sat on the bench, starting to get to know each other.
you start talking about your dogs, asking him questions about latte: when he got her, why’d he choose the name latte, etc.
seokmin felt like he was sweating, trying to come up with lies to answer your questions. he felt bad for lying but he wanted to go out with you so bad that the only way he thought of bonding over you was your pets. well, your real pet and his borrowed dog.
the entire time you chatted, his brain was screaming “that’s not even your dog!!!” at him but he didn’t want to confess his stupid lie just yet.
“hey, a new cafe opened close by if you want to get a quick bite? i hear they have some dog friendly treats so our pups can have something too,” you suggest.
“that sounds like a great idea,” he agrees with a smile.
you walk to the cafe, both of your dogs walking ahead of you on their leashes. your hand brushes against his a few times and seokmin fights the urge to intertwine your fingers.
even after spending nearly two hours at the cafe, neither of you were ready to part just yet.
“you’ve got to be one of the most charming guys I’ve ever gone out with,” you laugh as you walk along the sidewalk, not really having a destination in mind.
“oh so this is a date? i thought this was just a play date for our dogs?” he teases. “you saying you don’t want this to be a date?” you gasp. “no i definitely like the idea of this being a date,” he smiles.
“so much that I’m not ready for it to end,” he admits. “well, we’re not too far from my place… how about a drink? i don’t think latte’s ready to say goodbye either,” you nod towards the two dogs walking ahead.
the dogs run off as soon as you take their leashes off in your apartment while you lead seokmin to your living room.
he takes a seat on your couch while you step into the kitchen to grab two beers.
your conversations continue naturally, your topics going all over the place. neither of you notice it but you keep moving closer to each other.
seokmin brushes a stray hair out of your face, tucking it behind your ear. his eyes glance down at your lips before you lean in, waiting for him to close the gap.
his lips move softly against yours, his hand cradling the back of your head to deepen the kiss. when he hears a bark from the other room, he suddenly remembers what led to his current position.
“okay i really need to confess something before this goes any further,” seokmin sighs, pulling away from your lips.
“uh oh. are you gonna tell me you’re a serial killer?” you tease. “okay it’s not that bad,” he chuckles. “so what’s the confession?” you hum.
“latte isn’t exactly… mine,” he says and you’re silent for a second. “oh my god, you kidnapped a dog? that might be worse than a serial killer,” you gasp.
“what? no! no, no! i didn’t kidnap her, I’m just borrowing her!” he quickly exclaims. “i’ve kinda had a crush on you for months and i fucked up when i asked you out only to make it a play date for our dogs,” he explains sheepishly.
“except you don’t have a dog, apparently,” you say, clearly amused with the situation. “i know, i know. i fucked up,” he sighs.
“it’s okay, i forgive you,” you hum, leaning in close again. “i kinda have a crush on you too. besides, you kidnapped a dog just to take me out on a date,” you tease, kissing him as he groans.
“i didn’t kidnap her!”

It felt like you'd been sitting in this bathroom for hours, when really it'd been maybe 30 seconds. Just standing and staring at the piece of white and blue plastic you'd just peed on and turned upside down on the bathroom sink. Thank god Erik was at work, he'd be outside the door losing his mind with how long you'd been in there. You got sick one time and he acted like you were dying.
After the longest 5 minutes of your life, you turned the test over. And came face to face with those clear as day pink lines. Those stupid fucking pink lines. You and Erik were careful, always. Except when you decided going to the tattoo shop with him was a good idea, and a client wanted her nipples pierced, one thing led to jealousy, and before you knew it he was closing the shop early and proving he only had eyes for you. Never anyone else. But you hadn't been safe. Of course not. Only your luck, the one time you dont use protection, you end up in this situation.
You wanted kids. You did, really. But you didnt know if Erik did, you two hadn't had that conversation yet. You had no idea how he'd react, and that's what scared you.
That was a month ago. You had this big plan to tell him, and then Iris died. Erik didn't seem to care much, but then his dad died too. How do you tell your boyfriend after two back to back funerals, "Hey, by the way. You're gonna be a dad. Oops"? No.
Things only got worse when the real situation set in. Everyone in Iris's bloodline was on deaths list. She cheated it, she was never meant to have kids, and now her entire bloodline was cursed because of it. Thanks Iris. Now not only am I pregnant and my boyfriend doesn't know, but my baby is stuck with some fucking death curse before its even born. Just perfect.
When Erik came home late rambling about how he'd cheated death, how he survived a fire in the tattoo shop, he was acting like it was nothing. Like your heart wasn't beating out of your fucking chest every minute that ticked by that he wasn't answering your texts.
"Look, its morbid but you're not in the bloodline, you're safe from all this, knowing that? I could die a happy fuckin man. Sucks I lost my favorite jacket though." He'd let out an over exaggerated sigh that made your annoyance only spike more.
Better time than any, I guess. You'd sighed to yourself, clearing your throat and sitting up on his bed, just trying to calm your breathing and willing your heart to stop beating so fast.
"Yeah, about that. I'm not in the bloodline, but I dont think I'm exactly.. safe." You'd started, and you could see the moment his cocky, joking look turned serious and confused, almost pissed off.
"The fuck are you talking about? Why wouldn't you be safe?"
"Kiki, I promise I planned on telling you, okay? But then Iris died, and then your dad and I just- I couldn't find a good time so I kept putting it off. I'm pregnant. I took the stupid test a month ago." You couldn't look at him, but you could see his feet as he started to pace back and forth from where you were staring down at your lap, picking at your nails.
"You didnt think maybe it was a good idea to tell me that the SECOND we found out about this fucking list? What if I had died today? We have no idea how this is gonna work out! You should've told me days ago!"
You could tell when Erik was pissed off, you'd seen it plenty of times when he came home from work complaining about a bitchy client or his boss he hated so much. This wasn't anger, this was panic.
"I know, I'm sorry-" you knew he wasnt angry at you, but your words came out shaky, your voice breaking as you felt tears threatening to fall. Stupid pregnancy hormones.
Erik let out a sigh and moved to kneel down in front of you, using two fingers to tilt your head up to meet his gaze. "Baby, I'm sorry. I didnt mean to yell I'm just.. scared. I didnt care if I died because I knew you'd be safe but now.." he shook his head before continuing, "We're gonna figure this out. Me and the others, we'll figure this out. Find a way to save everyone else on the list. I won't let anything happen to you or this baby, not while I'm living and breathing."
That was a few days ago. And time was running out. You wouldn't let Erik leave the house, ever. Never let him go anywhere alone, always watching over your shoulder for a cup about to fall or some water spilled on the floor somewhere. To say you were paranoid didnt even begin to cover it.
When Stefani, Bobby, Erik and Charlie had loaded into the rv with Darlene, going after some friend of Iris's, you'd begged to go. You didnt wanna let him out of your sight, but everyone involved refused to let you go. Acted like you were some damsel in distress just because you were growing a person. It pissed you off beyond belief. But that anger and frustration quickly became fear and unease as you watched them all drive off.
They made Julia stay with you, making sure you weren't freaking out too much or worse, got in your car and followed after them.
You thought the 5 minutes you waited for that pregnancy test was the longest wait of your life. Oh how wrong you were. Every second that ticked by while you waited to hear something, anything from Erik felt like it was taking years off your life. But nothing ever came. Not a call, not a text. Nothing.
After the longest hours of your life, you finally heard the rv pull back into the driveway, and you ran outside before Julia could stop you. You watched as Stefani, Charlie and Darlene stepped out of the rv, but no Bobby or Erik. The tears started to fall before you even had to time to fight them back, "what happened? Where are they?"
Darlene quickly walked over and gently took your hands into hers, "Hes okay. They both are. We found Iris's friend, he told us how to beat this. Erik had to.. die and come back. Truly cheat death, and everyone else on the list would be safe. He.. came up with this plan to kill himself in the hospital so they could bring him back. It was.. stupid but it worked. He flat lined, and they got him back. They're keeping him on a mental health hold because of course they dont believe the deaths list story, but he's okay. Bobbys with him now."
To say you wanted to scream at him for how stupid he was, how he could've died, how you could've never seen him again, how he could've never met his child was an understatement.
You demanded Darlene take you to the hospital to see him, and how could she argue after telling you something like that? Erik was sedated, apparently he'd tried fighting the doctors when they wouldn't let him leave, no shock there. His wrists were tightly wrapped and the sight made you sick to your stomach. Bobby looked just as sick.
They only kept Erik in the hospital for a few days, letting him out after some therapy sessions and deciding he was "no longer a threat to himself or others." You'd forgotten all about wanting to scream about how stupid he was when he wrapped his arms around you, whispered how much he loved you and how excited he was to be a dad. How could you yell at him after that?
You had a healthy baby girl in the winter, and Erik had never felt happier. Neither had you. Seeing him dress her every morning, refusing to let anyone hold her because he didn't want her to leave his arms, buying dumb baby band t-shirts for her.
He'd die over and over again if that's what it took to keep you and his little girl safe. He'd kill someone if he had to. He'd make sure this little angel in his arms would never know the fear of death, not while he was here to protect her from it.

Is It Infidelity?
Ethan & Mark came up in a generation that wasn’t fond of the idea of them. They combatted adversity to be together through it all after meeting each other in high school. Coming up in a time that wasn’t too kind to gay people, they found solace in one another’s company and through it all fell in love. By that point in time, the world began shifting. Being gay was more common and less frowned upon.
The pair ended up going to college together, getting married, climbing their career ladders, and establishing themselves in their community. Eventually in their early 40s they decided it was time to take the plunge and start a family. They eventually had their little Billy goat and thought this would be the beginning of their next chapter. But as much as they wanted Billy’s new life to be surrounded by love, it presented new challenges that made Ethan & Mark doubt their preparedness and worse…their love for each other.
They got through years of bigotry and hatred, but resentment built between the pair. Eventually they realized they needed to spend time together being more thoughtful and constructive with their communication and began trying to see a couples counselor, but that required help to take care of Billy.
That’s when they met Aaron. A former collegiate football player, Aaron was in pharmacy school trying to pay his way through and looking for relatively long term and stable gigs to allow him a routine to focus on school. Aaron overheard the pair squabbling one time about how to make time to go see the counselor when he had the idea to pitch himself as a potential nanny for Billy.
The two men were taken aback by the strangers act of generosity and they’d be remiss to ignore his archetypical great physique.

They invited him over for drinks at the house to get to know him better and ensure he wasn’t like a murderer or anything outlandish. His story endeared the couple to him even more and they all hit it off, including Billy. That was nearly 2 years ago now.
Ethan & Mark had seemingly worked on their tension, Aaron enjoyed their family unit. A child aged out of the foster care system, the family became a surrogate one to the future pharmacist. All was seemingly at ease once again and Aaron hoped that even when he finished school, he wouldn’t lose them or maybe he selfishly wanted something else that couldn’t be said aloud. Under the surface multiple things were bubbling.
Mark was not happy in their marriage anymore. He still loved Ethan and his son but he wasn’t sure that was enough to keep the marriage alive. They all had built a friendship with Aaron, so Mark thought he’d be the perfect one to confide in about the emergence of such turmoil in his heart.
Mark told Aaron one day about the fallout of love he was facing as Ethan worked a double at the hospital. The confession was a blindside to Aaron, but not for the reason you may think. Aaron loved them all dearly but he began gaining feelings for Ethan somewhere along the way. Could this be his chance to get the man he thought he wanted? No, surely that would ruin the relationships they’ve all built? Right? Almost like word vomit, Aaron released those inside thoughts aloud.
The silence between the two was deafening. The two stared at each other quietly for a few moments before Mark broke down crying. Aaron began inching closer to console his boss and close friend. As he sat close he began tearing up saying “I wish I could help you more in this moment. I love you guys so much and I love Billy he’s like a kid to me too at this point.”
Mark looked up and told the young man, “I’m so sorry that you’re having these feelings for Ethan and now you’re in the middle of our mess. I wish there would just be an easy way to end the sadness.” As the two wiped their tears, they agreed to not divulge anything to Ethan without the other one’s approval. In their respective homes, they both tossed and turned in bed, distraught over the days discoveries or so they thought. The world had other reasons to keep them tossing and turning. Aiming to add balance to their situation, the world had a solution and needed their souls to accomplish it.
A universal force aimed to add balance, ripping their souls from their bodies and placing them in each others corporal forms. When the switch was done, the two finally fell into sleep.
Mark woke up peacefully with no blaring crying from Billy. He couldn’t remember the last time that happened lately. Trusting muscle memory he made his way to the restroom eyes closed, bumping into a few things he didn’t recognize but also didn’t invest too much thought into. He fumbled into the restroom feeling a bit chilly, odd considering he went to sleep in a long sleeve pj top.

Oblivious to the situation, Mark’s new physique stood in a doorframe it did many times before unaware of its new operator. As Mark moved to drop his pants to pee, he wrapped his now muscled hand around an unfamiliar thick morning wood. The size difference forced his eyes to finally open as he looked down gasping from the foreign sight below him. Gone was his long sleeve, replaced by mounds and mounds of sexy rippling muscle. Pecs like mountains with sharply pointed nipples. Ridges of cobblestone abs leading towards a v-line that introduced a thick, dark, rod below, insanely larger that the one he’d used for decades.
Instead of beginning to pee, he motioned over to the mirror in the restroom with pants still down. In the reflection there stood a nearly nude Aaron. Instinct took over as his new hand almost began jerking back and forth comfortably on his new thick pole. Speeding up as he involuntarily began moaning then grunting. As his pace picked up he wasn’t used to the sheer force needed to keep this body satisfied and while stacked with muscle the lack of preparedness led to him bracing himself against a nearby wall.
Meanwhile, Marks’ new phone sat buzzing at the bedside of the bed. Across the city, Aaron panicked calling Mark after realizing the new situation he found himself in, literally. He panic called several times in a row unaware the Ethan entered the room behind him. Slipping his hands around Aaron’s waist, Ethan pulled him in. The shocked new inhabitant of his husband’s body turned around shocked at the pull, turning around to figure out what’s happening. As he turned his head, Ethan dominantly went in for a kiss. Unbeknownst to Ethan, Aaron initially panicked and moved to resist the kiss before melting into the moment.
He couldn’t resist. If this was a dream, he might as well live it up. Aaron disregarded who he looked like and played the role he always wanted to be. A doting loving husband. He used context clues and realized Mark wasn’t the most domineering of the two, but used a little initiative to motion to the bed. Ethan pulled him over as the continued to make out, Aaron’s new husband savagely ripped off the boxers he was wearing. Ethan pushed Aaron to bend over on the bed, ass up just like he liked it. It was a side of Ethan that Aaron never saw while babysitting Billy but he was savoring every single moment.
Aaron’s new husband romantically kissed him from behind again before having his head shoved onto the bed. A tongue quickly beginning to then explore his hole before a familiar to the body but foreign to Aaron sensation arrived. Ethan quickly entered before slowly rocking back out. That odd tempo was weird to understand at first before Aaron quickly accepted the pace and went with it.
Across the city, Mark was still enjoying his self-pleasure rodeo grunting and moaning as he pounded his new body’s meat. The vitality of a younger body was something he previously lost along the way of life but was thankful to have once again. This body knew its way in a gym clearly so what would’ve broken a sweat previously was like child’s play now. Stroking back and forth, Mark used his free hand to try and stimulate himself the way he used to, trying to explore his hole. His new body nearly protested itself. Way too tight, never seemingly been explored. A strict dom top? He should’ve known. That discovery almost erotic itself turning Mark on even more.
The universe seemingly playing its hand once again as both men on both sides of the city climaxing at the same time. Both independently relishing their new situations. Both getting what they wanted without the need to sacrifice seemingly anything?
Aaron turned to Ethan doting to him almost pleading with his eyes to go again. While Mark picked up a nearby shirt and made his way to a pre-school workout.
