here you were, after a quick trip to the bathroom to clean yourself up, you stood in front of a random frat guys bedroom at a random party you despised being at. your anticipation was overwhelming as you for him to come to the door. as he opened the door you walked in, a complete stranger to him.

“a part of me didn’t think you would show, but then i remembered you rubbing against me like you were my bitch” he laughed out as he closed the door, you didn’t watch him as he walked behind you. thinking of a quick remark to catch him off guard.

“that’s funny because all i remember is you saying that i could be a problem for you,” your words poured out like venom. ignoring the need in between your legs. you stared straight ahead as he walked towards you. he was behind you now, you felt his chest-his buldge, press up against your backside. before he moved around and cleared a way for a spot on your neck. pushing any hair or fabric you had to leave him a spot to kiss on.

Malpractice is known as one of the most destructive and hard-to-deal with villain in all of history, having appeared around the 1930s and refusing to go away since. Malpractices comes and he goes, but he always seems to return eventually, whether that be in three months, or 20 years. He is like an illness that never truly goes away. Remission is possible, but the possibility for it to resurface at any moment is a very real, impending threat.

With abilities ranging from mind control, disease manipulation, pseudo-necromancy, and enhanced senses, speed, and strength; no one hero could ever hope to face Malpractice head on alone. Not even a group of them could ever hope to entirely defeat Malpractice,

Malpractice was a charismatic, slippery asshole-- he'd never really been caught before, but he's sure as hell caught others before. While he isn't known for doing this often, if he wants something bad enough, he'll take his time to set a well thought out trap to catch whatever-- or whoever-- it was he sought.

And when he saw you, so young but so very battered-- left to deal with an (albeit low level, but still dangerous in its own right) threat because your mentor/partner, prioritized a personal goings-on instead of staying by your side.

He'd seen as the so called hero went off the side, leaving you to fight the threat alone-- as you desperately called for their help, only to realize that they'd left without a word; beckoned by the person on the phone.

And it must've been so strange, to feel a little tug on his heart as he witnessed your reaction. Not quite angry, but rather... disappointed, but accepting. Like this was a regular, expected occurrence. Like you were blaming yourself for holding your mentor to a higher standard than this.

By then, Malpractice had decided that you deserved better. He could provide you with that-- besides, in his eyes, even if you were just on the cusp of adulthood-- you were still a child.

My, the industry sure had gone downhill from his time, hadn't it? When he'd been a doctor helping the superpowered individuals, working under the agency, though in it's infancy at the time, had taught him that children were to be nowhere near the career.

Sidekicks were not children, they were simply other superpowered individuals who along, did not do very well; but fit well with a more powerful hero, creating a dynamic duo.

You and your mentor couldn't couldn't be more different, both personality and ability wise. Really, what was he supposed to do, not spring a 'surprise adoption' on you?

Obviously, you're only fighting it because you don't feel worthy of love. That's the only reason, not that you're afraid of him or anything!

The hero rips the shop door clean off its hinges, and demands into the fleeing crowds, “Where’s the thief?”

People seem much too busy leaping out the way of the hero’s assault to answer him. He surveys the scattering crowds idly, waiting for his heroic senses to kick in and decide on someone amongst the masses. It does after a long second, locking in on someone darting for the back entrance, and the hero doesn’t waste time guessing whether his assumption is right.

The door batters off the wall loudly as the villain stumbles down the steps. Probably a favour to the shop—the hero’s already caused enough damage to the front door. He steps out as the villain runs across the car park. He just watches for a moment as he goes, humming a laugh as the man almost runs straight into one of the parked cars.

The hero isn’t in any rush. He always catches his prey. This may be the villain’s life on the line, but to the hero this is a simple game of cat and mouse.

He finally gives chase as the villain disappears around the corner. It’s not hard; the villain’s barely halfway down the road when the hero catches up to him. He cuts the thief off, bringing him to a skidding halt, but this isn’t capture to the villain—it won’t be until the hero has him practically unconscious, probably. The thief turns on his heel and leaps down a side-alley.

The hero always found it funny that these fiends still try to escape him, even after his reputation started to get around—he always catches criminals, and it’s always worse for those who think they can get away.

Clearly this one hasn’t heard the stories. The hero blocks his escape, grabbing onto his shirt so he doesn’t try doing a one-eighty again. The villain makes some noise that sounds a bit like, “Augh!”

“Nice try,” the hero snaps coldly. The villain looks terrified, for lack of a better word. “Now give me the stuff you’ve stolen.”

With shaking hands, the villain reaches into his coat. The hero tenses, prepared to snatch a weapon away, but after a moment of fumbling the villain presents him with a single apple.

“You should know better than to mess with a hero.” The hero tightens his hold on the other’s shirt. “Show me what you actually took.”

The villain pulls a pained face. “That- That’s it. That’s all I took. It was a grocery store, there wasn’t much else to take.”

He barks a laugh, once, awkward. The hero isn’t laughing. “They sent me after you for an apple.”

He can kind of see it now. His shirt is crumpled, his coat plain, his hair neat. The expression of a scared animal. The hero scowls—this isn’t a villain.

He gives the thief a shove, sending him stumbling back. He almost trips over a brick laying on the floor. The sight makes the hero feel even more tricked.

He holds his hand out expectantly. “Give me that.”

The civilian looks at the apple sitting in his palm. Then he sighs and puts it in the hero's expectant hold.

“There’s nearly no money going into this city,” he comments as the hero takes a bite. “None of us normal people can afford anything.”

“Get a better job then.”

“Not all of us can be heroes.”

The hero glances at him. It sounds like it’s bordering an insult but the man isn’t looking at him, so he simply hums in disinterest before heading back to the shop.

“Thank you!” the shopkeeper cries when the hero appears in the doorway. “Did you catch the thief?”

The hero takes another bite of his apple. “No,” he says flatly. “What’d he take?”

“Basically my whole shop!” The shopkeeper gestures vaguely to the shop behind her, which frankly looks more ransacked by the hero’s entrance than an actual thief. “He’s probably taken half my profits for this month with him.”

The hero nods idly. He’s only half listening—he’s busy reining in his annoyance. “Sorry he got away, then.” The apple crunches loudly into the following silence. “Better luck next time.”

“Thank you for trying. I’ve no doubt he’ll be back—I’ll call you then!”

The shopkeeper shouts that last part, since the hero’s already checked out of the conversation and is making his way to the shattered front door.

He can’t believe he got called out here for this. These common shop owners don’t seem to remember that heroes have better things to be doing than chasing petty thieves. He wrecks the last standing glass panel on his way out to make the point.

The day the voice took over

Something’s up with me. I can’t get the idea of… getting fatter out of my head. When I’m doing other things it’s still there, when I’m living my normal office intern life, it’s humming beneath the surface. 

Have you noticed how thin people often think about getting fatter too? Especially when there’s food involved. Every lunchtime they get out their little meals and talk about their weight and their diet. It’s like they need to, to make themselves feel better. ‘Oh I can’t finish this sandwich it’s so big, plus I ate so much at my kids birthday party this weekend.’ Once you notice it- it’ll drive you crazy. 

It seems like we all think about getting fatter in one way or another. They all seem to have this voice inside them. It tells them when enough is enough. It tells them when to stop. I sort of understand… because I have a voice like that too, except mine has been telling me to eat more. In fact lately, it’s been getting worse. It’s been telling me to talk about it out loud, just like they do.

The first time it happened I couldn’t stop myself. Someone at the desk behind me had just taken out their lunch. They did what they always do, made their comments. ‘I can’t finish a can of soda like this, the fizzy sugary-ness sort of tingles after a while.’ 

‘Oh really? I drink a 2 liter of that a day, it’s incredible.’ Oop. Silence. 

What was I doing? To them I had broken some kind of taboo, the rule of restraint. I was openly and happily drinking a whole bottle of that sugary soda a day? And even worse, I was proud of it? The voice inside me was laughing, its like it had breached the surface for the first time. They stared at me. 

Over the next few weeks the voice got bolder. My thin coworkers cannot resist the habit of making their comments about themselves, and I couldn’t stop the voice inside me from responding. 

‘I’m thinking of cutting out dairy from my diet…’

‘Dairy is SO good though, have you ever drank an entire bottle of whole milk?’

‘How many calories are in this energy bar I’m eating? Woah 200? That seems high…’

‘No way I’ve got 2000 calories for my lunch.’

‘Rachel’s birthday cake is on the counter, I’m trying to be good though.’

‘I’ll have your slice, Is there any whole milk in the refrigerator? I’m still hungry.’

They were horrified by me. The funny thing is, the more I let myself say these things, the less I seemed to care. In fact, I was eating more than ever, just because I felt so liberated. This is crazy. I knew I was making them uncomfortable, but I couldn’t stop myself. My lunches got bigger. After half a year, I got bigger too. 

I came into the office one morning and my clothes were incredibly tight. I sat down with my breakfast and my shirt stretched over me. It was so uncomfortable. I noticed my coworker looking.

‘Have you been to the gym much recently?’

We had talked about the gym before. He knew I lifted weights sometimes. This was his way of trying to find out what was going on with me. But my brain was losing any sense of shame. I didn’t want to tip-toe around it anymore. The voice was becoming too strong.

‘No I’m trying to get fatter.’

Jesus Christ. The look on his face. ‘You want to get fatter?’ He looked down at my body. 

‘Yeah! Hahah’ 

Oh my god I really didn’t care anymore. I reached for my breakfast. He was still watching me. The way I stretched, something about the angle, I felt a tear. My shirt burst open. A button shot from my belly button. It hit him right in the forehead. 

‘Oh my god are you okay? That was crazy! Wow I’ve never burst a shirt like that before… what a milestone! I’m gonna have to go buy some bigger shirts…’ 

This was the final stage of my evolution, after this point there was no going back, I would get bigger yes, I would get huge, but there would be no bigger change than the one that happened inside my own head right here. I couldn't hide it anymore. The shameless, hungry voice had become my own voice, forever.  ‘…but first let me eat this breakfast’

I grabbed my food and started eating. He was still staring.

it feels like a lot of people have given up on fully connecting ISWM/Engie Mark to the wider lore (aka WKM) since IRL Mark straight up told us he wasn't Actor.

but not only am i a stubborn son of a bitch, but yknow what Mark also said?

"Engineer Mark isn't Actor Mark, but Actor Mark just might be Engineer Mark."

i have this entirely insane theory about iswm that Engineer Mark is actually Damien, but only sometimes.

the most obvious places i can spot him is in the abandoned ship with the candles ("captain needs their sleep" and whatnot), as Old Mark (specifically in the empty diner), and most definitely as the "Mark" we see as part of the finale, the one who realizes he was wrong.

Actor is allergic to admitting fault so I Don't Believe That's Him.

this explains the thematic focus on sleep and rest in these scenes, things told to Damien and told to US by DARK several times.

speaking of Dark, it explains why he isn't there. we DO however see the suspiciously Darkiplier-esqe Ms. Whitacre, which it isn't controversial to say atp is CLEARLY Celine.

that is, until the universe does its final kablooey and Dark as we know him, Damien attributes and all, comes to take the warp-crystal.

and besides, think about it.

given Actor's whole goal in all this, as laid out in the Damien Project, do you REALLY think he would write a story in which all problems arise from HIS OWN NEGLIGENCE? NO!

that would make him a villain, and all he ever wants is to be portrayed as the hero, literally for eternity!

but you know what i think he would do? set up a farce for the most troublesome of his "co-stars".

you, the viewer, want genuine choices? you want to have some real control over the story? some responsibility? FINE.

everyone looks to you, but under your leadership everything goes wrong, no matter what. you don't know why, but you're actively villinized and the harder you try to go back and fix things, achieve an "ending" on your own, the more people HATE you. the more the thought that maybe there IS something wrong with you specifically will stick in your mind as a possibility.

all these options, but none of them "right", creating MORE suffering instead of fixing it just to find that ever elusive end.

damien wants control of the narrative? he wants his old friend, you, the District Attorney to be released from his eternal story and given back to him? FINE.

here's his role back in earnest, given the possibility to engage and choose instead of intrude and twist like usual.

(yes, i do think Damien/Engineer is genuinely going down his own hopeless path while we find our own. in one of the descriptions leading to the final "Hold On/Let Go" confrontation, it says "you're not the only one making choices. you're not alone, you never were".)

he is allowed to fight for the safety of others, side by side with his closest companion, just as they did when they were alive.

BUT, the twist is Damien becomes a genuine villain. in his quest to do the altruistic thing and help at all cost, he is personally responsible for the death of LITERALLY EVERYONE EVER.

this is a personal hell for someone like Damien, as seen from WKM, all he ever seemed to want was help others and guide them towards peace.

for his actions/leadership to fail so unthinkably catastrophically, seems like the exact hell a bitter Actor would want to subject his "old friend" to for meddling. :/

Actor sets the stage for a theatrical punishment game. Mayor and Attorney, together again, taking an impossibly long stay in a personally crafted hell for the horrendous crime of ever even thinking they'd be worthy of ✨️staring roles✨️.

Actor turns you two against each other, and once Damien is brough down to the depths of despair and you have finally learned that true responsibility can lead to catastrophic, painful results, we're brought back to our proper places.

you go to a proper ending, with the Engineer role now being played by Actor once and for all, and Damien once again becomes part of Darkiplier, pocketing the warp-crystal to plant on the box in Heist.

Engineer isn't Actor, it's a role he plays when it suits him and his goals, to make his enemies suffer. he's willing to be Damien's understudy, if only for this purpose.

but at the end of the journey, Actor becomes Engineer to take in the fruits of his labor. ..and maybe invite you to a Heist while he's at it.

BUT HEY, THAT'S JUST A

very long winded """theory""" that is pretty much only insane fanfiction-

I'm rewatching gravity falls and obvioiusly i'm having a blast. but because I am an insane person I rewatched season 2 first and now rewatching season 1 and I have to say I love the monster of the week episodes. I love them so much. and honestly I prefer them alot more to the plot building episodes. dont get me wrong the overarching plot and mystery is definitely part of the intrigue of the show especially when it first aired. but I am so enamored with how the show stands completely on its own as just a regular monster of the week type beat. (also how concurrent all the episodes are it is very believable that every episode happens the next week from the last while still being able to pick up the show from mostly anywhere its just spectacular)

But i just think Gravity Falls and it's overarching plot was something very novel in a children's cartoon when it was first released. Most children shows didn't have an obvious mystery hanging over the entire show to be solved where the entire show for the most part was just one big arc (the only other one I can think of around a similar time frame is ATLA but I'm sure there were others they just were the minority) .

and that made it so intriguing and unique and dont get me wrong it's still an amazing mystery show and the plot still holds strong but also we are now in a timeline where almost every show even cartoons are 10 episode long and have an over arching plot hell all the major disney channel cartoons of the last couple years (ducktales, amphibian, owl house, star vs the forces of evil even tho that last one was really only in the second season) are all plot driven shows but hey atleast even those shows have mostly adventure of the week episodes for the most part. but the only true adventure of the week cartoons I know from the last couple of years have been like big city greens and Hamster and gretel.

And like i guess what I'm trying to say (in this insane manner of mine) is bring back the adventure of the week. bring back 22 episodes where every single episode isn't trying to just push the narrative forward. Like honestly to me the best parts of gravity falls that still holds up all these years later are just dipper mabel and gruncle stan getting into some shit together.

plus the comedy is still fucking golden and some of these shots are legitimately horror movie worthy.
