If you look up ABA therapy on here the majority of it will be people calling it abuse. I really hate to be that guy but it's hard for me to take these claims super seriously because 90% of their reasons for being traumatized by it are things like "they made me make eye contact and sit still and it was uncomfortable" or "they made me feel like there was something wrong with me and infantilized me". I have no doubt people use it in abusive ways, but I'm just not sure these reasons they're listing are. Even the very worst things they list (such as being infantilized) are just the therapists being assholes, not abusive.

those people really sound like whiny babies lmao like as a person who was abused as a child, saying "a therapist tried to use positive reinforcement to get me to behave in a more appropriate manner" is child abuse is just fucking ridiculous. it's always kids whose parents bent over backwards to help them who are the first to complain. SO many autistic kids are actually abused for being autistic!! I'm talking kids being beaten by their caregivers, locked in rooms alone & neglected, screamed at & called horrible things, etc...but sure you were abused bc you were uncomfortable for a few minutes while in therapy. god it's ridiculous. it reminds me of that trans substitute teacher who got fired for her weird social media presence & then said she was the victim of a hate crime. like sorry but what happened to you isn't even in the same universe as someone being physically assaulted for being gay lol

Depends on the gift, depends on the giver, but this is largely true. It doesn't ruin a birthday or an event for me to know that a present is coming, and if it's a big present that people have invested a lot of time or money into, I'd rather know in advance how much I'm going to have to mask through the gratitude.

I'm very bad at keeping surprises too. I'm that person who will just pop and tell someone what I got them in advance, lmao.

I do like certain kinds of surprise presents but they need to come from particular people in particular ways lmao. Like, Glen who I live with, if he comes home with my favourite chocolates of all time, I will be truly delighted. Esp because I only get to have them like twice a year. If a good friend of mine just randomly buys me a game on Steam (we do this for each other intermittently), I'm very happy. I know it doesn't come with expectation and I don't have to mask in person.

One of the biggest reasons I skipped the family christmas last year was because I was so overwhelmed and depressed I knew I wouldn't be able to mask any kind of gratitude through it and had a very flat affect and monotonous tone, and I felt so bad at the idea that people would think I was ungrateful or hated it, that I just...didn't go to something that is one of the most special things I do with my family all year (to the point that I cancelled my birthday which is on the 17th of Dec to preserve energy for christmas).

So surprises can be rough on a masking level.

If a friend comes over and is like 'we're doing something new today!' they're not going to stay a friend very long x.x

Hello! I have been wondering for a while but when you make Mc do you base them off yourself or do you think of them as a whole other character?

A bit of both really. Sometimes they're whole characters on their own (like in Lady In Black and Nightmares Never End), sometimes they're just me wearing a mask (There's Still Magic, and it's spin offs, and The Writer), and most of the time it's a melting pot of the two.

I like taking little bits and pieces a lot, sometimes I just think of what I might do in a situation and go from there. I think a lot of writers do this honestly.

"Desperation, I guess..." i mean, there is the whole energy shortage. when times are tough, and the enemy is trying to kill you anyway, you might as well get a meal out of them, if they don't do the same first. i could also see a more benign and nonlethal version, where someone who has energon to spare, gives a starving friend a sip or two.

Well, yes.

Ok, so energon as liquid continues to exist on Cybertron, but in small quantities and without active circulation stagnated in some places. It's no longer arriving, only diminishing. Before the war, energon was stored, as a "just in case". So the situation is very bad, energy shortage is very happening but it is still possible to get this energon.

Voluntary cannibalism, so to speak, does occur, but to make it safe for the donor they can't give away too much. So it is a last-minute solution just to keep the companion alive, and maybe they will get something else to eat.

However, eating the enemy, another Transformer, still receives slanted looks by comparing this behavior to the pre-war era among other things. Especially by those inclined to philosophize or followers of certain religions (about which I plan to post); it just so happened that these are usually 'formers with a good position. Yet it becomes normalized in the sense that it is only done to survive.

However, all of this can vary depending on the culture/customs/permissions of the group or division.

Plus Transformers are quite social creatures. So if there are suspicions that someone, say, enjoys cannibalism too much or has poor self-control and might attack companions to feed on them, they may be placed under unofficial surveillance. If they do something stupid, they may be rejected or banished, which almost always means death. Then, however, there is a risk that they will give the group to the enemy for a meal for example (if they're lucky), so it's quite dangerous. They are much more likely to be judged by the leader or group, which usually results in a execution sentence with the possibility of improvement (when times will be better we will kill you unless you work off the damage and/or prove that you are not a threat to us), because not only are there deficiencies in energon but also in people. Sometimes it's just an execution. Because as biting an enemy or eating someone's severed arm is fair game, most remember that they are just as edible.
