The puns are never ending : Aziraphale's miraculous "visable" bullet.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dbfaa2d8215d15862bec8ba77abb5f2e/5244eff0323a452d-4e/s540x810/55ed7603a8f96d224cebfef60b8f4749273ba3a9.webp)
Aside from this closeup diagram of how to perform the bullet catch being objectively hilarious, it's also got a pretty fascinating *spelling mistake*.
If you look closely at the part of the pamphlet in red, you'll see that the bullet should be hidden in the mouth where it won't be visable. Not "not visible". Not visable. Seems innocuous enough right? But of course, the layers are never ending.
"Visable" is actually a Middle English word, *not* a modern English one. The last time it was used was before the printing press was invented, so pretty old. Here's a little background :
What's really fascinating though, is that just like the expression "dark horse", the word has two meanings : one is "Capable of good judgement, prudent" the other is "Tractable and docile".
There are also only two examples of the word in context that I can find, and they really should be sending you into orbit :
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bebca9465ef1959ffb47cd6d2937ac6f/5244eff0323a452d-3d/s540x810/5fd66f518a88c48b6fa701c5161367dcda0de981.webp)
The first one is actually from Henry Lovelich's translation of the French epic poem "The Romance of Merlin" also known as the first English treatment of the Arthurian legends. It's modernized as "He was a worthy knight, valiant and visable in every fight." Which uses the "good judgment" meaning and sounds... a lot like Aziraphale in his role of guardian and protector.
Why do we care? They are standing literally in front of Excalibur, Arthur's sword.
The other one is from "Ipomadon", another middle English epic poem about a hidden identity romance between a beautiful but proud heiress, and her dark knight in disguise. "She was... visable and virtuous, meak and mild, and marvellous." Which clearly uses the "tractable and docile" meaning, but also... kinda sounds like Aziraphale in his damsel in his distress mode, which:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fd997e7d89031f7a695b038f74ed4019/5244eff0323a452d-64/s540x810/c3574b58f49bacdeb24a969655dc56256b5e4aa6.webp)
Ahahahah fuck off. But wait, there's more!
I originally twigged to this error because if you, like me, also happen to speak the language of la plume de ma tante, you know there's a reason why the uses happen in epic poems that originated in France: it's a loan word from old French, and still exists today in modern French, but it doesn't mean tractable and docile...
For the non-french speaking among you, it's a derivation of the verb "viser" :
Verb 1 To aim 1.To aim, to carefully direct one's gaze or a weapon towards a goal to throw something at it.
And so, if you happen to be, oh I don't know, a demon and have been alive for thousands of years and can definitely speak all the languages on earth and happen to have participated in the Arthurian age in England, when you read that pamphlet really carefully because someone is making you do a crazy stunt and there's a miracle blocker on, you could *conceivably* have read the instructions as:
"IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT YOU LOVE, DO NOT SHOOT AZIRAPHALE IN THE FACE." ________________________________________________________ Thanks to @thebluestgreen and @embracing-the-ineffable as always.

Yo, just wanted to know if omair, from the Roger dlc, had last name or anything
He does actually!
So, I realized a lot of the basegame names are mostly English based so I wanted to give the new characters some more etymologically distinct names for the sake of variety. Obviously I usually base my names off neat little puns or etymological links, and the new names are no different.
Fabron's name basically translates to 'young blacksmith', which I felt suited a young IT guy. His surname, Farrow, is a surname also associated with smithing. Obviously 'IT Guy' wasn't a job when most surnames were linked to professions, so I felt something that involves metalworking fits an IT guy at a factory.
When I was deciding what name to give Omair, I figured I'd also make one of the names Blacksmith related, but wanted the first name to be different. I looked up names that meant 'problem solver' (which is also a good approximation of what an IT guy does) and Omair came up and wound up being my favourite of the names.
Since the name has Arabic origins, I thought a matching surname would work, so I went with Haddad. It's quite common in the Levant, kinda the regional equivalent of 'smith', so I felt it'd work. Bonus points, the name's also associated with a Mesopotamian bull god of Thunder, who has links to some of the other entities I based bits and pieces from DT's inner story on, so it was just sort of a perfect fit.
Hope this helps!

No gonna lie. Your writing is good asf but you're French too?!I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only French speaking writer who writes in English and the fact that it's undertale too? Amazing !
Can I request the main 10 boys and how they would react to a crybaby s/o ? Like not in a bad way? The reader is just really sensitive. If they cry of laughter, they're actually sobbing, angry? Sobbing, happy? Sobbing. Scared?Sobbing.
And well, all of this crying is very exhausting for s/o
If possible, female gendered, but I don't really care, so it's up to you
Thanks if you do, and whether you do or don't, I hope you have a great day/night and that you're safe!
Yeah, we're not a lot of French people in the fandom, but we're very persistent!
Undertale Sans - He never had someone literally sobbing at his puns before so he was a bit surprised at first. Now he's just used to it. He's carrying tissues with him all the time in case there's an emergency. He still can't get over the fact one single pun can kill you though. It's both sad and hilarious, he could never stop bothering you.
Undertale Papyrus - He learned to discern the happy sobs from the sad sobs now. He showed you his notebooks with an exact study of how he differentiates them and he's very proud of it. You think it's so awkward but Papyrus just pats you on the shoulder and tells you that's alright because you can't hide anything from him anyway. He smiles, then leaves. Uh. Well, that was scary.
Underswap Sans - He's probably not the best match. Blue is not that good with people crying. He tends to hide his feelings a lot, and that's because he has a cold head he's a wonderful police officer. He's very awkward when you randomly start to cry and it's stressing him out because he's never sure if he said something wrong or not.
Underswap Papyrus - Welp. The thing with Honey is that he is super super empathetic. This means that whenever you cry, he cries as well lol. It leads to super awkward moments when you try to stop crying but Honey cries so you cry again, and then Honey cries again and it's a never-ending circle. You can't help it.
Underfell Sans - The poor guy already struggles to understand human emotions in the first place, but now he is just so confused. Crying is for sad, but now crying is for literally all the other feelings? How the hell is he supposed to make a difference? Can't you just stick a post-it on your head stating your current mood and if he messed up or not? He can't tell, it's driving him crazy!
Underfell Papyrus - The military school taught him that crying means you're really hurt and on the verge of dying. Now everytime you cries, he comes running in a hurry, completely panicking, and gets so confused when you're actually crying but laughing at the same time??? Are you mocking him? Are you broken? Why can't you use the crying thing like in his books? Humans are so complicated for no reason, it's so frustrating! When you said the book might be lying to him, he's flabbergasted.
Horrortale Sans - He doesn't care what you're crying for. He quickly understood that you crying means he gets free cuddles. You kinda accidentally trained him to come running to you for """comfort""" whenever you're crying. He loves it when you're crying. Please cry more and pet him.
Horrortale Papyrus - He's exactly like you. It's like looking into a mirror. He thinks it's so awkward when you both start crying at the same time. He tries to stop, but he really can't help it. That's problematic when there are people around who are trying to help you two but you're actually dying of laughter. People are so confused.
Swapfell Sans - He's Mr. Poker Face, and he became an expert in reading you so he can translate your feelings to the people around you when you can't talk anymore. He makes it so awkward though, saying to random people you're crying because you saw a cute kitten and can't get over it and that he is in fact not mistreating you. At least he tries to help.
Swapfell Papyrus - Sorry he can't read your feelings right and thinks everything is a joke, even when you're mad at him. He's so confused when you starts to scream at him because actually it's not funny. Usually, he makes himself very little for a few hours after that. Sorry, no one taught him to read the signs, he kinda does his best.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He rolls his eyes at you every time you start to cry lol. Yeah, he still thinks crying is for weak people and he can't really understand why you're so emotive. It's even worse when you're crying affects Coffee and then he has two people he needs to awkwardly comfort by patting their head. Please, stop.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Another one too empathetic that will start to sniff whenever you start to cry and then burst into tears in your arms for no reason. At least he gives good hugs with all the crying, so it's a bonus point.

Is Ashfur named for the powdery gray stuff you get after a fire or for ash trees? I always assumed it was the first, but since both of his sisters were named after plants it would be kind of cute if it were the second. Assuming of course there's a population of ash trees in Albion!
Ash trees!! In fact, the "Ash" pun in English doesn't translate into Clanmew at all!
It's actually kinda strange how in-canon, they have so many words for fire-related concepts. In BB the Clan cats have fire, but isn't it kinda weird that Canon has "soot," "ash," AND "cinder" when the Clans only see a fire once in a generation? When they don't even have a word for Car or Road, no less?
Anyway, in Clanmew they have one word for cinders/ashes as in "the end result of a burning fire", seen in Cinderpelt and Cinderheart, and another for soot, as seen in Sootfur, which is a fine residue that builds up in their ovens and fires and can be used to make a simple paint which we call "Bistre."
Ashfur's name refers to ash trees, the 3rd most common tree in the UK. Brindleface really liked plants. If Ashkit had a littermate, she would have liked to name them after a different type of fern than Ferncloud to keep a Tree/Fern theme going.
#Ferncloud in Clanmew is actually Manfern specifically-- Marssi. It's used in treating intestinal parasites.#Also Tulip got pulled out of Brindle's family entirely just to preempt any missing kit comments#I have the ThunderClan tree completed already. Tulip is Dust and Raven's uncle but died of plague.#So anyway BB!Brindle probably would have called an Ash littermate Hartstongue or Ladyfern.#Bone babble

Milgram LINE stickers - Haruka
Figured I'd translate the stickers. Some of them are absolutely hilarious and others are just kinda sad. They can be bought from here: arma bianca LINE stickers Starting off with Haruka, T1 and T2!
* This says 遥かな夢を. The full line from the song is: "大きく羽ばたく遥かな夢を ぼく、かなえるからね" (In the English subtitles, that was translated to "I promise to make my dreaMU come true", but more literally it's "I'll grant that faraway dream that spreads its wings wide") 大きく羽ばたく遥かな夢を uses the characters in Haruka and Muu's given names: 櫻井 遥 - Sakurai Haruka (his given name is its own topic, really) 楠 夢羽 - Kusunoki Muu It's a pun, pretty much. Oddly enough, he uses all the kanji in that part properly, even when he doesn't use the kanji for "boku"/"I". Implies that Muu has been teaching him some characters, particularly their names.

The puns Cyno said during "Give Her Sweetness" when you return to Caravan Ribat tried really hard to keep to the original and I was kinda interested in seeing how the localization team handled it. I also just like puns, and these puns are honestly p good, so I wanted to give folks who were curious a breakdown below:
The Padisarah "proof in the pudding" joke tries to match with the original CN pun and it was ok ngl. The words cold pudding 「冷布丁」 :: [lěng bùdīng] is a perfect homophone for the phrase to be surprised/suddenly 「冷不丁」 :: [lěng bùdīng]. Knowing this, he says: 「怎麽樣?冷布丁吃到一塊兒冷不丁的感覺」 or roughly “How is it? Do you feel surprised to eat cold pudding?” where the text in bold sounds identical in chinese and Paimon accidentally re-uses the pun with 「...幹嘛冷不丁講一個冷笑話?」 "why did you surprise(/cold pudding) me with a cold joke"
The "why Henna Berries can't lie" joke also suffers from being lost in translation, but the red⟷read pun was a good save. The pun comes from the homophones for the classifier for leaves/petals 「片」 :: [piàn] and lie 「騙」 :: [piàn] and how cheat 「欺」 :: [qī] sounds like seven 「七」 :: [qī]. This is a bit to take in, but with this information, he says: 「應爲...它的花瓣想來只有五篇,絕不可能存在欺騙」 which comes to "Because... it only has 5 flower petals, it can never have the existence of deception." where the text in bold sounds identical in chinese to 7 petals.
The "bass lake eating their worms" joke was a little bit of a stretch but again, it's trying to keep the original puns. The joke hinges on the the fact that bass are freshwater fish and that the homophones for breaking a promise (lit. eat words) 「食言」 :: [shíyán] and eat salt 「食鹽」 :: [shíyán] sound identical. Phew! Okay, now to what Cyno says: 「是嗎?那你敢對湖裏的鱸魚們發誓嗎?」 which is “Really? So do you swear by the bass in the lake?" 「...湖裏的鱸魚,它們可從不食言」 “...the bass in the lake, never break their promises (/eat salt)”
And the final bonus pun is translates well enough into english, the line about "I hope so, I just handed it to you." There's an idiom where you'd say Leave it to me/us/etc. 「包在我身上」 :: [bāo zài wǒmen shēnshang], but this is literally the package is on us. So it comes out as: Paimon:「行,包在我們身上!」 or "Ok, leave it to us!" (/ the package is on us) 「嗯,這一包赤念果的確在你們身上」 "Mn, these Henna Berries are indeed on you."
I FORGOT THE BONUS BONUS "hat trick" PUN WITH WANDERER. I've talked before about how Hat Guy is related to being called A-Mao in chinese, but Cyno turns that into a pun with his TCG joke as well. The phrase to play cards 「打牌」 :: [dǎpái] is strung together with hat 「帽子」 :: [màozi] in order to create the term to refer to counterfeit items 「冒牌貨」 :: [màopái huò]. Last one now! 「你的牌...會變成冒牌貨!」 aka "Your cards .... will become counterfeit!"
All in all, fun puns and fun facts!
#kittybee talks game linguistics#genshin impact#cyno#genshin cyno#Chromatic Ode of Candies and Roses#I wrote up 80% of this post this morning but I had to leave for work and just came back to proofread a bit lol#i love that Cyno was giving a little thumbs up when he was making the joke with Wanderer - he was already congratulating himself before the#joke was even said LOL he had the thumbs up as early as when he said “your cards...”#wanderer just keeps taking psychic dmg from sumeru's natives First nahida now cyno#also Paimon sneaks in a final joke that is absolutely lost in translation#it's translated as “Finally free from the terrible jokes” when she in fact says “our bodies are finally warmer” ref to Cyno's cold jokes#and asking candace if “having all those cold jokes hidden in his stomach won't cause a stomach ache” (the cringe atk part)

to be honest one thing I really wanted in uaf was someone call out the fact that Pandor is named after Pandora(the Greek goddess) I know it isn't really necessary but I am a huge Greek mythos fan so have them make a small pun about it would have funny like when kevin was making fun of the fact that Ben's cousins are both named ken and gwen I just feel it would have been a nice call back to that joke and kinda funny
As funny and as nice as it would be for characters in universe to comment on others names with meta-references, the thing about Ben 10 is where will it stop lmao! Take the Andromeda 5 again, P'andor is not the only one with a name referencing something with meta-context, we have Andreas who's in meta named after Andreas Fault (AKA why Andreas' Fault the episode is named that way), and hell... Bivalvan is literally named after bivalves like clams and such-
Also, there's Kevin pointing out Ben, Gwen, and Ken's names for a fun little jab, then there's calling out every alien name who's languages are literally non-existent and have stand-in English (or whatever relative language the show is translated into) names that make reference to things an audience might be aware of and making fun of it :P Not to ruin a funny goofy ask by mentioning lampshading lmao-
#ask#anonymous#p'andor#ben 10#sometimes someone's or even a planet's name is simply just a word in another language#keeping with the theme ra'ad is the transliterated arabic word for thunder#hell kylmyys is literally just finnish for cold#and it will always feel wrong when i watch the inktank's and beyond episode because they pronounce it killmus#heh the ipa for what finnish 'y's is literally /y/ but the closest english example would be the 'u' in cute#well... without the 'yew' kinda sound just the /y/

Heya! I wanted to leave a message about your comic "Across Time & Space" ❤️
AAAAH I loved everything in this!!! 💕 How soft they are with each other, Phoenix can't keep his hand to himself (honestly, Miles' hair looks so soft here, I understand 🤭), the pacing and the dialogues (especially Miles, I admit there are words I discovered here since English is not my main language). And the colors are just beautiful and magical, I really love the atmosphere it gives 💖
ALSO, I noticed immediately little Trucy!! I just love little easter eggs like this in arts! And I love the WAA group hug, how precious they are!
Thank you for giving us this lovely comic, I can't wait for the next one you're preparing 🥰
Hello!! 💕 Thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I am so happy you liked the pacing and dialogue! I obsessed over the dialogue a lot to be honest, because I am not a native speaker either, but I do really love the English language and the way I can play with it (I tried to translate it into Italian and it just... felt wrong... also it's impossible to translate puns, like the kiss/kill one, and I would need to change too many things in general). I am also glad you could discover a couple new words!! I love when that happens. And I am so very happy you liked the colors/atmosphere because it was a big experiment I was unsure about. I just went: 'what can I substitute white & black with?' and just... chose the lightest and darkest colors of the color wheel (light yellow + purple -> and then put some midtones in between via lavenders/pinks) hahaha Also thank you for noticing!!! I looooove adding easter eggs, and I do it as often as I can. There is one that isn't *exactly* in the comic.... turns out, painting with splotches of color makes it so you can hide things in plain sight haha! And there's also one in a page that isn't really an easter egg because I pointed to it pretty heavily, but you still need to zoom in to see it properly. If you notice it it adds extra perspective behind what one of the two goofs is thinking. No one yet has told me anything about it, so it makes me wonder if I should have pointed to it better, but I am certain some must have noticed, especially the Trucy-obsessed ones ((˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧) Also side note I read this message like hours ago and I kinda just put my head in my arms and grinned like a fool - like a very very wide grin. Had to recover for a while... Hehe <3 Again, thank you! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
#ask#also just wanted to add#narumitsu made me like this#I swear I wasn't such a sap before.... this is embarassing...........#it's their fault#theirs and fic writers#<- wonderful beautiful souls that are a gift to humanity

things i love about the Filipino language
-the word "po". it does not have an English translation and does not have a literal meaning. "salamat" and "salamat po" mean the same thing in terms of definition. (it means thank you) HOWEVER, "po", at least in Luzon, is used to indicate respect. it's often common practice for kids here to use "po" when addressing people older than them, but you can absolutely use "po" when speaking to anyone else regardless of age. it's such a uniquely Filipino word and if anyone plans to write a Filipino character here, especially one from Luzon, just note that "po" is an ingrained part of speaking for us here :)
-the way that word meaning changes based on how you pronounce it. example is BUkas (tomorrow) vs buKAS (open). idk it feels very quirky to me and can make way to written puns
-we call our siblings "ate" (pronounced A-te) which means sister and "kuya" (pronounced KU-ya) for brother. but the thing is, out here, we call everyone ate/kuya. much like "po", ate/kuya is kinda like a way of addressing people with respect
-THE EXISTENCE OF BAYBAYIN. writing baybayin feels so epic, and I have done my fair share of translating things to their baybayin spellings. PLEASE search it up i beg of you, it's actually so amazing. if you're a Filipino speaker (native or learning) it's gonna be easier to understand. if you want me to write anything in baybayin pls do tell me! i love writing in that system!
-the way we use apostrophes. if a word ends in a vowel and is joined with "at" (Filipino for "and"), we often use apostrophes for informal writing and pronunciation (example: kutsara't tinidor, a shortening of kutsara at tinidor, which translates to spoon and fork). but its true power lies in when it shortens a single word. for example, we have bakit which means why. in informal writing and pronunciation, it's shortened to ba't. that's just so pog to me
-it's actually so easy, at least for me, to rhyme in filipino! someday I'll post a Filipino poem of mine
maybe I'll add more but for now, since it's buwan ng wika for us (the month where we celebrate our language) I figured I'll make this
maligayang buwan ng wika, Pilipinas!

explaining random shit and a few not so commonly translated cuss words we say here in brazil
foi de base - death, to die
example: fulano foi de base (the guy went to base) - meaning the guy died
slang that originally came from brazilian League Of Legends players that refers to when you die and return to the base. Literal translation of "foi de base" would be like "went to base" or something but it's kinda complicated to translate because the "foi de" part means like "went as (something)" or "did the (something)"
foi de base can also be derived into different versions in which you can switch the word "base" for literally any word of your preference. Popular example: fulano foi de arrasta pra cima (john doe went to swipe up. Yeah i know, it's just not as funny in english but it's funny in portuguese, i promise)
tankar - to tolerate
intankavel ("untankable") - intolerable, insufferable
examples: não da pra tankar os carro feio do elon (i can't tank elon's ugly cars), o carro feio do elon é intankavel (elon's ugly car is untankable) - meaning you can't tolerate elon's ugly cars
slang that comes from the term "tank" from *i believe* World of Warcraft (please correct me if i'm wrong about the origin of the term) and also used in Final Fantasy, meaning a character that has a high HP count or a high resistance to attacks, usually a character meant to lure in enemies during multiplayer sessions so other players can attack the enemies that are too focused on trying to take down the tank character (i feel very represented by this term as a Final Fantasy player who has a tank miqo'te /j)
bostil + intankavel o bostil
bostil - fusion of "bosta" (shit) and "brasil" (brazil). Slang used specifically to refer to brazilian hardships that are strictly related to the country itself and its issues.
intankavel o bostil - (see "tankar", "intankavel") Slang used to criticize anything if you're brazilian, can be used both to criticize specifically brazil issues or if you're just a brazilian person complaining about anything in general. Does not require to be anything strictly related to brazilian struggles and can be used ironically but is commonly used that way. Still considered appropriate to be only used by brazilians.
vai chupar um canavial de rola - go suck a sugarcane field of cocks
you basically just tell someone this if you're pissed off, it's self explanatory
olavo, olavo de carvalho, olavo de caralho - skull, skeleton, death, dead person (this one has a bigger context)
example 1: foi de olavo (see "foi de base") - means the person died
example 2: olha o olavo aí *aponta pra uma caveira ou esqueleto* (look at the olavo *points at a skull or skeleton*) - means you're, well, looking at a skull or a skeleton.
"olavo" refers to a brazilian """philosopher""" (my ass) named Olavo de Carvalho who passed away 2 years ago (almost 3 years now! happy deathday olavo!) and he was just not a good person so that's why we make fun of his death here. Olavo was not only a flat earth believer but also a covid denier (he literally died from covid) and, well, he was basically a fascist. Good riddance
Olavo de Caralho is a pun with his last name "Carvalho" (oak), but "caralho" means a whole variety of cuss words (fuck, cock, etc. It can mean a lot of stuff)
broxa - a type of brush, person with erectile dysfunction (PLEASE don't ever call someone this because it's super degrading unless they're an asshole)
broxa was originally a type of brush, a short and more tougher brush.
broxa is a derogatory term used to refer to a person with erectile dysfunction and can be a verb like "broxou" which refers to a dick going soft too early
broxa can also be used if you're disappointed at something.
example: eu fiquei broxado com o final desse filme (my dick went soft at the end of this movie) - means you were disappointed at the end of the movie you watched
viado, bicha - faggot
here we actually use "viado" and "bicha" the same way english speakers use "bro" for example, but it's much more appropriate to use this slang when you're queer yourself, otherwise it's seen as inappropriate or even homophobic
prikito, priquito - pussy
comes from the word "periquito" (parakeet)
você pinta como eu pinto? (pun)
the translation to this one won't make sense at first, but basically it's like a little joke with the sentence "você pinta como eu pinto" and "você pinta com meu pinto" which are pronounced the same way. the first one means "do you paint like i paint" and the second means "do you paint with my dick" and it's like a little thing you trick people into saying "yes" or anything like that
se eu cozinho todo mundo come (pun)
same type of joke as the previous one. "se eu cozinho todo mundo come" (if i cook everyone eats) has the same pronunciation as "seu cuzinho todo mundo come" (everyone eats/fucks your ass)
list might grow in the future lol
edit to add one that i absolutely love:
nem fudendo - no fucking way
used when you can't believe something someone said
used as a more aggressive replacement to "no"

Burra-Bandhaa (Kareela in The Amazing Digital Fight Club)
So a while ago (specifically in August of this year), I drew a version of my TADC OC Kareela if she were in The Amazing Digital Fight Club, an AU made by @burrotello. Idk why I decided to share it now, but here you go.
She fights using kickboxing, which I know is different from regular boxing, but I decided to have her be a kickboxer because not only did I feel it'd make her stand out more, I also thought it'd be fitting for her as an Aboriginal Australian (for context, this character is an Aboriginal Australian character, and her tribe's culture is based on multiple different Aboriginal groups), since originally, before I found out TADFC was a boxing AU, she was going to be a coreeda fighter, coreeda being a fighting style that was based on the fighting style of male red kangaroos (the name even coming from the Ngiyampaa word for "kangaroo hunting"), and a common trope in media you'll often see, usually in things like animation and cartoons, I think also video games, is the kickboxing kangaroo. Idk the exact origins of a kangaroo being depicted as a kickboxer, but I assume that it comes from how male kangaroos, when they fight, it kinda looks like kickboxing. So because of kickboxing having an association with kangaroos, at least in media or pop culture, I decided that would be a creative way of incorporating the fighting styles of kangaroos into Kareela's fighting style, being somewhat of a reference to coreeda (at least in the fact that they're both based on how kangaroos fight), while having her still be a boxer. It's a different kind of boxer, but still.
Btw, since drawing this version of her (as in more recently I came up with this name), I've decided that her boxing name would be Burra-Bandhaa, which is Wiradjuri for "jumping kangaroo", "bandhaa" in particular being the word for "female red kangaroo". (I know technically the actual translation would be "jumping female red kangaroo", but I felt like "jumping kangaroo" also would be an accurate English translation too, it just wouldn't be a literal translation.) I got this translation from the WCC (or Wiradjuri Condobolin Corporation) Language Program app, which is kinda like an English-Wiradjuri dictionary. If this isn't a correct translation, then I sincerely apologize, and feel free to correct me.
Also, one more thing, for some reason I keep imagining TADFC Kareela having a theme similar to Elena from Street Fighter 3's theme (HQ version). Idk why I assiociate Elena's theme with her when Elena is Kenyan and Kareela is Aboriginal Australian. I guess because the vibe of the song fits Kareela to me? Probably that. Lol
Edit: I forgot to mention her design was somewhat based on Gummigoo's (aka Migo's) design for The Amazing Digital Fight Club.
Her outfit also was originally gonna be more based on Elena's outfit as well (well, the bikini-looking portion specifically), but I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I came up with this instead, with a bit of help with a friend. The red and black are a reference to the Aboriginal Australian flag. Honestly, I really like how it turned out.
The lore for her in this AU would be she wanted to fight in the Digital Fight Club, but after finding out that NPCs couldn't fight in the Digital Fight Club (for context, Kareela was always an NPC, even in her original iteration), she decided to just fight people on her own, kinda like how Gummigoo decided to remain a street fighter (no pun intended, since I mentioned Elena earlier).
She gets along well with the other characters (except Jax), including Gummigoo, Max and Chad, and I imagine she's very agile with the way she fights, so she'd have a high agility stat. (I gotta make a version of this with the stats and everything, like the original TADFC images).

DANS LA COUR DES GRANDS
DC Comics, Batman, pre-Flashpoint / New Earth continuity - Jason Todd / the Red Hood, Sasha / Scarlet Prompt: Someone pretends to be someone they're not. Content warnings: allusions to sex predators in a school, to serious maiming as acts of vigilantism, the general mess of the concept of underage sidekicks, the whole new can of worms that is an underage sidekick to the Red Hood.
Yes the title is in French, because that shitty pun is perfect and it doesn't translate to English. Jason would agree. (la cour des grands = literally the yard of the seniors, figuratively the big leagues).
The plaid skirt looks funny.
Jason frowns, tilts his head, frowns some more. He tries to remember what the posh girls at the manor's afternoon parties had looked like. Did they ever wear their school uniforms? Or was that just on pictures in the society section of the Gotham Gazette? The memories overlap and melt together like microwaved frozen lasagna when you try to serve a slice.
Sasha pulls the blazer open, messes around in a way that reminds him of him when he got his first leather jacket. More memories. Bad memories.
"Don't. You need to look like a good girl, remember?"
She perks up, eyes wide and-
"You need to lose the make-up, too. These schools are real hard asses on the dress code."
He tilts his head the other way, tries to figure out how to fix this. What to fix. (Nothing to fucking fix, Little Red is leagues better than any rich little bimbo, could outrun, outlast, outpunch them all, and soon she'll beat them all in every class, if he gets his way about it.)
He straightens his head. Stretches, slow and lazy. No need to worry poor Sash', right before her first solo infiltration.
"Let the skirt cover your knees. Don't want some teacher to ask about the scratches."
Or look her the wrong way, if their intel is correct. He tries not to think how Sash' will look like a scholarship student, alone and vulnerable in her fancy boarding school, easy prey for all the rich creeps.
Kinda the whole point of the thing.
He looks at the little Cheburashka keychain tied to the strap of her satchel, and reminds himself to breathe. He hands her the necklace with her com.
"Got your taser in that bag?"
She rolls her eyes.
"Good, good. Okay. Knife fits in the shoes?"
She shrugs. "Yes, Mama."
She's snarking away the jitters. He should know. Picked up the same habit in the same place, back when he was just a little kid. Before- breathe, Jason, breathe - before.
"That's madam bear to you, young lady." She giggles. Good, he's doing good. "Don't worry, I'll be around, okay? Stick to the script, and we'll wrap this up easy-peasy."
She puts the necklace on all by herself. Strong independent woman, she is. (A kid, she's a fucking kid, and if anybody touches her, he'll slice their fingers like fucking salami.)
His fingers twitch on the handle of his gun while she cleans her eyeliner off, fluffs her sandy blonde hair, pulls the skirt, undoes one button on the shirt. She twirls around, both hands on the shoulder strap of her satchel, and gives him the most tooth-rotting smile he's ever seen her pull.
"Hi! My name is Tatiana, but please call me Tanya! I am so happy to be transferring here at Saint-Esther! Sorry, my English is not very good!"
Her smile twists, shows the one canine she broke in a fight with a thug who tried to grab her in a subway station while they were in New York. That guy had broken much, much more than a tooth that night.
"Wanna bet we make a necklace with their balls before the end of the week?" she asks.
Laugh tears out of his chest, lets the green pour out, pushes air back in. "Gosh darn, Little Red. You're a star!"
He puts his elbow on her shoulder as they move out of the old flat that serves as their base of operations. He ruffles her hair while they're in the elevator, dodges a round kick that makes him so goddamn proud, and goes to open the door of the sleek back car they've procured as part of her lock-picking practice, two cities away.
As she slides in, he drawls: "I bet you're gonna kill it out there."
They snicker all the way to the school gates.

What's the funniest sentence you can make that works in both English and French?
(Saw your revlog about wanting asks, so here be an ask)
damn that's a hard one
Like i'm not a great wordsmith and dont know many puns, sorry
the only thing that i remember that is kinda funny, is like, somebody with a strong quebec accent says : "La porte est ouverte". English person mistranslate with confusion "What? The door is all green?" (you see, bc when you say "La porte est ouverte" which means "the door is open", it can kinda sound with an accent like "La porte est tou' verte", bc you can kinda carry the silent t to make the t sound anyways, and with bad pronounciation, it kinda sounds like it. Anyways, it translate to "The door is all green". This jokes works better vocally than in text)
Only other puns i can think of only work in one language, sorry i'm not great at those
though if people got some funny multilingual puns do share

I'm back with a bang. Project Fiction - an Irumatsu and Irujnko fic will be finally published in its entirety! First arc is up, at about 50k words and 7 chapters. Read more to see if it's your cup of tea.
Do you hate some things about DR canon? Do you wish the talent system in Hope's Peak was more explored? Then read no further! I'll copy some bullet points from PF's description on AO3 and explain them in more details.
This work has: - Heavy OOC for Iruma and Kaede
PF!Iruma is not lewd, but she's a hothead, a reserve course student, and she also likes basketball. Weird, right? She also has nothing to do with inventions, her true talent is more of an abstract concept in line with your usual 'hope' and 'despair' gimmicks. It allows me to create a story with no killing games, but filled with tension similar to how Death Note is considered a 'shounen' even though it's a detective mystery.
As for Kaede, be warned that she only appears in chapter 8 for the first time. Remember her pre!game line in v3? "I don't have faith in humanity". What if I based her entire character on that and pitted against this Iruma? You can't imagine how heated it gets. - In-depth exploration of how Hope's Peak works, what's a 'talent' and how it impacts the chosen students
Do you know how talents are assigned? How scouts do their work? How exactly Kamukura Izuru was made and what studying on the reserve course is like? I know, and I'll show you in great detail.
- Nods to the canon, while turning the plot of DR1 upside-down.
Junko's game plan stays the same: kill the council, rebel the reserve course, fill the world with despair. With Iruma, however... not all goes as planned. It's not a story about people stuck together until almost all of them die. We go from Hope's Peak to an open world, and you'll see famously neon Tokyo in all its glory.
- Heated gay arguments, a weird online game, absurd talents beyond your average human standards.
While the story goes beyond ships and their dynamics, it has that in spades. I also present to you a certain game by Team DANGAN, and it's not about a pun-making bear torturing students. Imagine Genshin Impact's combat but more tactical, focused on PvP. That -- and much more.
- An abundance of author notes. This one has a lot to say.
I'll be straight with you, I put a shit ton of details into my works. Chekhov's Armoury is a trope I came up with before I realized it existed. I'll give you fanarts, songs, memes. Basically I've never had a lot of readers so I had to get used to creating fan content by myself.
- Typos I am translating this work into English, and while I'm pretty confident in my abilities, I am not perfect. It's kinda hard to know how real people talk when you're not exposed to the language on a daily basis. If anyone wants to be my beta, I'll be honored.
Translating this thing is ungodly hard. Writing it took me 4 years and was even harder. This story means a lot to me, I put my heart and soul into it, and I truly hope someone will enjoy it as much as I do. I also hope someone makes a TV Tropes page for it one day :D This is my only dream as a creator.
Give it a shot -- you won't regret it.
I hope.
