...mood whiplash. I have three slides (I'm just doing this in google slides) for the stickers from The Purge March, because the flags have text on them. Plus the little * things will be in two bits, because some of the words used in the songs are... kind of funny in their childishness?

* In Japan, it's common for a circle (O) to mean the same as a tick mark in English. It just means "correct", and the X is the same thing for both languages. What Amane is doing is holding her arms up to make an O, to show that she is correct in her answer (kind of like a gameshow, and she is the host). In the second image her arms are still in the O, but her answer was wrong, so the X is on the little stand in front of her, as well as behind her (like she's in a gameshow, but as a contestant). The one that I've captioned as "No, bad girl!" has めっだよ on it, which is kind of like... when you go, "hey!" to a kid or a pet that's doing something wrong. It's a warning/reprimand. Amane is either treating herself like a small child, or like a pet that needs training. "It is indeed" is... kind of a poor translation. The text is ですよ, with です used as "it is". So, at the end of sentences like "I'm happy", "It's a box", that kind of thing. よ sort of... is like "y'know". A better translation here would be "(and ---), is that!".

* It's captioned as "'Tis ordained", because that's what the English subtitles say when it's said. However I am not entirely sure what it means here, probably something along the lines of listing, or saying that these are the "first" things you should consider? “Doubtlessly, clearly, absolutely, unequivocally, beyond any doubt, GUILTY” is just... "(absolutely 5x) unforgivable" in Japanese. I think the subtitles give the right feeling, and also I just think it's more interesting that way. Imagine if it was "very, very, very, very, very GUILTY". That's no fun! The flags... Pink: 人は運命を生きよ/"Thou shall follow thine destiny" More directly: One should live their destiny Blue: 人は卑きを捨てよ/"Thou shall discard vulgarity" More directly: One should renounce what is despicable Yellow: 信じたものに納めよ/"Thou shall deliver unto those thou believest in" More directly: Give back to those you believe in Green: 道を外れずに果てよ/"Thou shall follow thine course, then perish" More directly: Do not stray from your path, and make it to the end Yeah, it's not exactly such "old-timey" words, in the Japanese, but they all still read as "commandments", of a sort. Same kind of thing... but maybe a little less ominous...?

Wow that's a lot. One more! (has nothing to do with the stickers) In The Purge March, the part where Amane goes, "You're sorry? I don't care!" is 謝ったって、べーだ！ in Japanese. The first part is the same, but べーだ！ doesn't quite mean "I don't care" in Japanese. It's the sound made when pulling down your eyelid and poking out your tongue, a childish and mocking act. It's kind of like putting your hands near your face, wiggling your fingers, and blowing a raspberry. ...I guess that means "I don't care!", but the whole thing is just so childish and petty. I love it. Amane is so very "I'm not a kid! (at least when you're watching me)", but also "Doubtlessly, clearly, absolutely, unequivocally, beyond any doubt, PETTY" and I love her for it.

I find it so SO interesting that as soon as Kazui's breaking their marriage vows and revealing his true feelings (literally tearing apart the dove), the wife is already falling off the balcony

Her hair is fluttering in the wind. The apple fucking splatters on the ground this whole sequence is so visceral I'm spinning it around in my mind. Kazui views his truth telling as a violent act, the killing blow.

Last of the Milgram LINE stickers

arma bianca LINE stickers Here are the ones that are just Milgram, generally. There's "Milgram", "Milgram Chibi" and "Undercover".

* I'm only about 60% sure that this says "Is it an ant?" because it's just so out of context but that's also how you'd say ant?? I just don't know please Amane is petty enough to call us "ants" it's a ggod enough guess. For the banner sticker, the text under the MW bit just says MARGLIM (Milgram, but backwards). The banner text says "lossitarelecste" on the top and "rutiro" on the bottom, "et sceleratis sol oritur"/"light shines even upon the wicked", but backwards. Backwards, in a cipher, and in Latin? Sure. Whatever. I should make that post about all the really funny ones, but if I did it's be mostly Fuuta being indiginant and then the rest would just be the other prisoners actively needing help (I like the one of Shidou's where he just stares and the text is literally the SFX for staring at someone).

Happy 0203 day ❄️🔥🎉 I don't know if these are specifically meant for ships, but have a little platonic normal au thing I wrote of them hanging out and being silly :3

Yuno narrowed her eyes to study the shirt she was holding up to her unwilling model.

“No.”

She angled her head, undisturbed. “You don’t get any say in this.”

“I get all the say in this – they’re my clothes!”

“And it’s my birthday gift to you. So zzzzzzzzip!” she mimed zipping her lips, though she knew Fuuta was incapable of any such thing. She pulled the shirt away from him. “There’s nothing wrong with this one! It’s cute.”

“That’s exactly what’s wrong with it.”

She thought it would have been harder to convince Fuuta to come along on a mall trip this close to his birthday, but he’d answered her text almost instantly. He said he’d allow her to buy one pair of fancy sunglasses, and only so he’d have something cool to wear once he could take his eyepatch off. That one pair became two, then added clothes to match, then a handful, and now they stood beside a massive stack of items she was considering.

“Just try it~”

Yuno gave him a gentle push towards the dressing room. She could only laugh as he went spewing complaints the whole way in. 

A few minutes went by and she busied herself with sorting the clothes they’d looked at, pairing up tops and bottoms and jackets and scarves. Fuuta would probably tease her for shallowness if she admitted how much she enjoyed activities like this, but there was something about it that just lifted her mood. Shopping trips with her classmates left her feeling a bit hollow, but Fuuta’s wildly honest commentary always made it more fun. 

Right as she was starting to feel a twinge of impatience, he crept out. He was still clutching the shirt and hoodie he’d removed, covering up most of his chest. Yuno eased it out of his hands, leaving him with an expression of utter panic.

“It’s awful.”

“Are you kidding?” She pressed her hand to her cheek. “It’s super fun!”

He was looking less at the new shirt, and more at the people passing by, or checking over his shoulder, or down at the floor. Restless hands tugged at the collar, then the hem. It was certainly more form-fitting than his usual picks. 

As much as Yuno liked the look, she didn’t want the poor guy completely folding in on himself. 

She made a grand swing of her arms, ending in an X. “I like it, but I suppose we’ll add that to the ‘no’ pile.”

“What pile…?”

“I mean, you still have to try these on.” She scooped up the stack of clothes beside her and dropped the whole heavy mess into Fuuta’s arms.

“Eh? Which ones?”

“All of them.”

“All of them? Are you fucking –!”

He tried to protest, but his raising voice caught the attention of some other shoppers. His face burned red and he practically sprinted back inside before he could retrieve his original clothes from Yuno.

She folded them neatly over her arm, no longer excited that it forced him to try something else on.

Had she been too much? She thought this was something fun for him, but he was genuinely uncomfortable just then. What if, all this time, she’d only been projecting her own enjoyment onto their outing? Her stomach sank. She knew he took up her invitation so quickly because he didn’t have any other plans. She’d completely taken advantage of his loneliness – dragging him out here just for her to have a blast while he had no other option.

His phone buzzed from the hoodie pocket. 

He still hadn’t come out of the dressing room. So, he really was that uncomfortable. She bowed her head at her selfishness. They’d go right home, once he returned. 

His phone kept buzzing. Yuno glanced down in its direction.

She was never one to poke her nose where it didn’t belong. In her defense, this wasn’t a good sign given Fuuta’s history. She fished it out of the pocket, promising herself just one peek, for his own good.

A groupchat was firing off notifications.

Yuno nearly dropped it in surprise. “I – uh, it was going off, and –”

“Sorry.” He snatched it away without even glancing at the screen. “So?”

“So…?” Her heart raced with the panic of getting caught. He looked at her like she’d gone insane.

“What do you think of this thing?” He gestured to the new shirt he’d put on. “This was all your idea, but if you don’t want to be here as much as I don’t, we can –”

“No.” Her face broke into a smile. She exhaled. “No, I’m really glad we’re here.”

He blinked at the sudden warmth in her voice. “O-okay.”

“And I think it looks perfect. Really suits you~” It made sense he’d pick this one next; it sat right within his usual style. “Ooh, ooh! Why don’t we keep alternating things in your comfort zone! That would definitely help.” 

“Or we could just buy this one and be done with it.”

She kept her expression neutral. “Do you have somewhere else to be?”

His face was obscured as he headed back to the dressing room. “I wish,” he spat, “but I’m fucking stuck with you.”

Yuno couldn’t help it as her smile spread even wider. 

She called after him, “hey, try on that colorblock one next.” 

“Ugh. It’s ugly. And asymmetric.”

“So’s your face. Put it on.”

“Oi!”

one thing that constantly plagues my mind is this single milgram timeline interaction between shidou and kazui on kazui's birthday

like not only is it extremely gay but i've recently realized the fact that kazui mentions it's his birthday has certain implications. milgram is pretty thoughtfully written, which would lead me to believe that they wouldn't disregard things that have been said in the past no matter how long ago.

meaning the things kazui said on his first birthday is still just as relevant even now.

this would imply that kazui bringing up the fact it was his birthday was just an excuse to get shidou to spend some time with him.

why would he go out of his way to mention something he claims he doesn’t care much about if not as an excuse to get shidou to actually spend time with him? either it's just his crippling loneliness or he actually does have a thing for shidou, especially with the way his development is going and how his feelings and desires are being affirmed. plus every milgram interaction has some form of significance to the characters' development.

i do still feel like it's kind of a reach to make this assumption and i'm probably reading into it way too much, cuz it really could just be kazui being nice, but, y'know, why place so much emphasis on it? and also a SHOULDER MASSAGE being offered by the guy who craves physical touch? the closet is not even glass atp it’s been disassembled and returned to ikea
