mello wears a cross a lot so I am Curious on his stance on religion and what religion he connects to if any……I’m not religious myself but it’s just very neat thinking of him believing in a god considering you’d think he wouldn’t based on how he is (until he realizes shinigami are real and kira kills with what’s basically a god of deaths diary but like. I mean before he finds this out). He was literally raised to be the potential successor for the worlds greatest detective it’s instinct for him to question everything and dig deeper into things and because of that I think him being religious and the topic of religion regarding him is incredibly fascinating
#skittles.txt#r:mello#religion mention#it is a topic I get iffy about bc of my experience with it but !!! I think talking to mello about religion would be VERY fascinating#bc he’s so inquisitive he probably has a VERY unique view on it and I’m curious about what it may be#because like. he does NOT seem like the type to believe in a god at least before he finds out abt shinigami being real#I’m probably reading WAAAAAY too much into him wearing a cross but . idk the thought of him being religious seems incredibly vulnerable#like. with his inferiority complex and needing to be number 1 and how overprotective he is of himself.#I feel like religion to him is a way to be comfortably vulnerable#IM DEFINITELY READING WAAAAY TOO MUCH INTO THIS BUT LIKE. idk. I love the thought of mello being religious#bc again I personally am not but . Idk it’s just smth I find really neat about him#I DONT EVEN THINK HE WAS CONFIRMED RELIGIOUS IM REACHING SO MUCH BUT. whatever he’s my gayboy I’m allowed to reach if I WANT

Hi there! I’ve been following for a fair while (I was interested in the premise) and have been meaning to play the game for a while as well, but only started the last day of 2023! One heck of a way to start a year though!
I was wondering, how would the ROs feel about/interact with an MC who is touch averse? If MC can’t stand for people to touch them without getting a little sick feeling? How would that affect their relationship? Would that be a thing that would determine if they would or would not enter a romantic relationship with MC?
And maybe as a lil tiny bonus if you’re feeling up to it, how would the ROs feel if MC one day tried linking pinkies with them? If MC told them that their specific touch isn’t that bad and they wanna try slowly building up physical affection?
Sorry, this is kind of a long ask >.< I myself am iffy on touch at best and I know it’s commonly seen as a “necessity” in relationships of all kinds. Herotome is a VN that kinda breaks down modern relationships and I was curious so I wanted to ask, but alao totally understand if you don’t want or are unsure of how to answer this. Have a lovely whatever time it is in your time zone and I can’t wait to see how Herotome progresses!
Dude(gn) you're valid as hell thank you sending this over <3
I do wanna give a quick shoutout to @crescencestudio who - I know through my direct experience of editing for Alaris - is putting a huge array of touch-averse dialogue options in their VN. Do give them a follow if that interests you...!
I also want to express how flattered I am that Herotome kinda breaks down modern relationships - that's definitely been an unstated goal of mine.
Now let's see about your ask...
Warden: Fuck yeah he's down-- gosh what's gotten into me I'm cursing so much today but I'll make an effort not to censor myself <_< But yeah... honestly a touch averse MC would be right up his alley - assuming he is reassured that he has not done anything wrong/offensive with any accidental touches. To some extent, he enjoys the concept of self-restraint(...) and begins both his professional and romantic relationships rather carefully - so not having to worry about whether he's not touching someone too much or too little - and instead focusing on not touching them at all - should be quite refreshing for him tbh? He may want to touch sometimes, particularly after spending a LOT of time together... but being respectful and ensuring his beloved is comfortable is way more important to him.
Griffin: ..... well, Griffin would do her best LOL. They would have to set expectations and really communicate upfront (which you would always be doing with Griffin regardless of touch aversion, lets be real) - what is not on the table, what could be on the table in the future, what MC wants out of a relationship - and if MC is prepared to discuss these topics and - most importantly, if MC is 100% ready for a relationship - in all likelihood a touch averse MC will be able to make things work with Griffin. Just gotta be clear and communicate.
Mia: ngl she can get pretty needy, it might be rough with her...! She'll want to hug when she cries and she can get pretty insecure about herself, so I wouldddn't super recommend a touch averse MC getting into a romantic relationship with Mia... Communication can be rocky with her even when both sides try their best. But gosh she'd treat touch averse MC sooo well in the time they spend together, if MC would allow Mia to cook and pamper!!!
Dart: Eh.... Why not? He's willing to give it a shot, and if it doesn't work out then it doesn't work out. ....... I'm sorry this is all he's giving me ;;;;;
Jade: lmao she's touch averse on and off herself so she'd understand MC best out of everybody with very minimal communication no questions necessary. They'll be perfectly happy reading on opposite sides of the couch or something...
As for linking pinkies and slowly building up physical affection-
lol idek what to say bc that's so stinking adorable and swoonworthy
Warden, Griffin, Dart, and Jade would make sure MC is not pushing themself over their comfort zone just for their sake - they went into a relationship knowing not to expect touch (I assume?!)
Mia would be too busy having the happiest day of her life straight up vibrating and also having a heart attac like
#creatorofstars#ro: everyone#herotome ask#can I promise a full set of touch averse choices in my own game no#are touch averse mcs valid hell yes#both can be true at the same time

Request guidelines
<back to masterlist
I'll probably continue to add to this
Requests are: Open closed
I won't write:
CNC, noncon, dubcon, ect. - I have my own experiences that I will not be sharing on my request guidelines but these subjects are triggering to me and not writing it deal with it
Stepcest - same reason as the above^^
Active eating disorder, sh, things in that area - again it's a triggering subject for me and I really hope people struggling get the help they need but I'm not writing that no thank you I'll consider writing recovering though not extremely fresh recovery but you get it right
Piv - right yeah idk it makes me uncomfy and I've never written it before similarly writing blow jobs is kinda iffy for me so I might not end up writing them
Large age gaps, dad's best friend, things in that flavor - the only age gap I'll accept is like supernatural creature and adult not like freshly 18 think like adult yk you get it
Hate fucks, Extremely mean doms, sex with the tone that they actually hate each other - I don't like writing it. I cry if someone doesn't respond to me in a day. I'm crybaby suck my dick dude also I don't even really love degradation and you may be thinking "but elliot ive read your work before and you had degradation in there" and you'd be correct I didn't write that dialogue sometimes I'm writing and I go "yeah they'd degrade them rn" and then I go to my degradation support team (3 of my friends) and I start talking to them like theyre secret agents about to go on a mission and then their feedback is almost always "stab them, make him cry" "you know I have a friend who writes smut" and "cockslut would go great right there" so if you're reading my smut and you come across degradation now you know it's origin story good job dude proud of you
Honestly quite frankly I don't totally love writing Smut I usually try to avoid it bc it takes a lot of energy from me
Song fics - I'll do inspired by songs like my footnote one but I'll never put the lyrics in there one time I was reading a fic I didn't know it was a song fic and out of nowhere one of the characters said "see that's my down bitch that's my soldier" I still laugh about that to this day also I'll never write with Taylor Swift in mind I hate her with a burning passion but you do you ig
I love writing:
Autistic reader - I'm autistic so it's more self serving than anything
Trans characters including reader - I love seeing a character and thinking "right I love them but what if, and get this, they're trans?" And also on that topic I'm trans so like you're safe here babe
Poly ships - Everytime I see a ship and I'm like "ugh god they're both hot who do I pick" I have an epiphany where I go "wait who said I had to chose?" And then I start writing a poly ship
Gay characters - why be straight when you can just not?
Weirdos - I love making characters just like a little bit weird I love it it's so much fun yk like walk in on Barty trying to hide himself in a kitchen cabinet I love it so much
Fandoms I write for:
I usually only write for the fandom that I'm currently hyper fixated on so the hyperfixation is in pink and all the other ones are in blue slightly more inclined to write about than blue is green just because I'm not fixated on it doesn't mean I can't write for you it's just the chance lowers a lil
Marauders
Slytherin boys
Lockwood & Co
Supernatural
Bottoms
Criminal minds
The umbrella academy
Kickass
Actually really embarrassing but that's it?
The hunger games (including tbosas)
Billy the kid <3
Once upon a time
Things to keep in mind:
I'm still in school so some days I might have more freetime and motivation than others
I'm not always comfortable writing smut sometimes I just want to sit in a dark room and not have skin I'm a person not an AI writing generator
My hyperfixations can end very quickly and return just as fast sometimes I'll be knee deep in a fixation getting and answering requests left and right but It can lose my attention very quickly and leave requests unanswered in my inbox for months I still have two mattheo riddle requests from like January in there
I'm a lil dumb and might misinterpret your request
I write what I know and I don't know everything (obviously) but if you send me a request and I don't know much about it I'll do my best to research it and fulfill your request as best I can
I like constructive criticism I'll probably cry but again I'm a crybaby I cried once because I dropped my spoon so don't take it as an offense constructive criticism does not include calling me a slur
I try to keep my fics as inclusive as possible I don't like having gendered fics on my blog bc it's leaving out someone but if you need to get specific for a plot device I understand

hi, i wasn't sure if i was going to reblog this or not, and i sent you an ask but i'm sure if you got it bc tumblr's inbox system can be kind of iffy and things can get lost. either way, i'm going to respond here (sorry followers who have already seen this). from here on out, i don't really wanna argue about it anymore. if you have more questions, comments, concerns, you can dm me and we can talk there but i just don't want to post constantly about this and annoy my followers.
i have really only three big issues here.
using the leon kennedy x reader tag for discourse posts. that tag is "supposed to be for" fics that include that pairing, and people who are going to that tag/follow it, want to read fics, not discourse (that's why i don't tag any of these posts w/leon x reader). this is something that most people, regardless of their opinion on ddne content, agree upon.
blocking vs reporting. block - highly recommend it and i'm glad i could introduce you to the block content feature. it's super useful. blocking is a part of curating your feed and making your tumblr experience tailored to you. reporting, on the other hand, flags the post and tumblr has to decide what to do with it. so, it doesn't just go away from your feed, it can prevent others who want to interact w that content from being able to do so. so, please don't report fics for the sole reason that 'the content grosses you out personally'
going out of your way to shame people publicly. just straight up, we should try to care about others. yeah, you're absolutely allowed to have an opinion on the topic. and, you can totally think writing these things is gross. but, i would encourage you to keep that within your blog (i.e. not putting it in the tags/keeping it in a private chat or something). ultimately, your disgust does not equal objective immorality. yes, because ik everyone needs me to restate this all the time: incest, in real life, is a crime and is bad. i would never endorse it. you can write about something without endorsing it. and yes, you can even write about characters that are "traditionally attractive" doing bad things. you do not have to read it. everything does not need to be 'disney-fied' and have a happily ever after, all protagonists are good, narrative. we should be allowed to write more complex things with difficult themes as adult writers. and yes, exploring these things through fiction can help people process trauma. your experience with healing from trauma is not necessarily the same as others. so, stop assuming that your feelings and your experiences dictate some universal truth.
basically, you are allowed to have a personal problem with these stories, but your personal problem does not need to dictate everyone else's actions. your personal disgust should guide your choices in terms of your personal content consumption. it does not make you the moral arbiter of truth, the god of the internet, or the singular most important person in the world. if we're going to 'agree to disagree', part of that is both sides minding their own business. which means, not harassing, not flooding the tags, not reporting content just because you personally don't like it.
Honestly, it's embarrassing that you wrote that long thing going off on the og post. Womp womp, stop writing and endorsing incest.
why are you sending this on anon? if this view is one you truly hold, why not say it with whole chest?
do we need to revisit point 2 at the end of that post? "depiction does not equal endorsement". writing about incest is not the same thing is endorsing or committing incest. the actual act of incest is disgusting and illegal and if i knew someone was going through that, i would call the police (ik calling the police is a nuanced discussion bc acab but point being, i would do whatever i could to help that person get out of that situation). fiction is not the same thing is reality. i don't know how to get you to understand that.
i don't personally read it often bc it's not my cup of tea. i've written it on commission because it doesn't bother me if it is someone else's cup of tea so long as it is in fiction.
i will continue to defend people's rights to write fiction about these topics.

My experience as a greyromantic person in a world full of romance and pressures: 💚💃🏻
tw // amatonormativity, rant
I live in a place where at a young age you're expected to "like someone" and start dating them, kissing, maybe having sex together; to have a romantic relationship. You're pressured to find a partner and go on double dates with your friends, commit to one another, be long term and even take it a step further to a marriage soon enough bc "the train is departing". UGH. I truly hate the amatonormativity here! And when I say young age I'm talking 16-17 years old because at 21 you're already being asked about a fiance and marriage, LIKE CHILL- 🥴. Don't get me started on the heteronormativity too...
From a young age though, I think 14-15 years old, I realized I didn't want all these things society demands from me. I didn't want a fairytale romance and swooning scenarios; it always made me uncomfortable to even picture myself in that situation. And mostly bc I just didn't feel that way about ANYONE around me. I wasn't a fan of dating apps or going out with people I barely knew so I never involved myself in dating. Neither in high school when I was slightly older.
I loved romantic novels and movies (and still do 🤭) but never pictured myself in them bc they weren't exactly what I wanted... it felt like too much, if that makes sense. Naturally, people started asking questions and I always answered with "I'm just not interested in romance." I didn't have the language to describe myself back then, but if I'd found it earlier, it would've clicked. Romance indifferent 💚.
I thought that because I didn't want this over-the-top romantic stories I saw everywhere then it meant I didn't want a partner at all. Now that I'm educated and have understood myself better, I have the words for it. I experience attraction differently, hence why I view relationships & romance differently too 👀.
I'm greyromantic, which (if you didn't know yet) means I do not experience romantic attraction often, almost never actually; I have only experienced it before 2-3 times that I can recall, and the feeling is never consistent. It can fade away easily... plus the times I've felt romantic attraction is towards people of my same/similar gender too (lesbian). When I do experience romantic attraction it doesn't always make me want to have a romantic relationship tho. I don't feel romantic love in a super overwhelming and passionate way as movies and books portray it. A romantic relationship isn't a priority for me even if I do like someone, it's mostly second place.
I don't long for that stereotipically romantic relationship or a romance that will sweep me off my feet; I think what I desire is a close companion and partner. Romance is still an iffy topic to me even if I do like someone romantically... I guess it's because of all the pressure and expectations surrounding it in my culture. It's made me want a close companionship and emotionally deep connection with someone, not the romance that society portrays.
When I experience romantic attraction (which is VERY rarely bc of my aromanticism) it is towards people I'm already very close too and I've never gotten to the point of wanting to ask them to comitt to a relationship with me yet. Idk if I'm ready for it bc of all the societal pressures previously talked about. But I think that if I ever get to the point of feeling very strongly about someone and it's mutual, we'd agree on a middle ground where both our emotional, physical and affectionate needs are met in a way we both want it to be and it not be triggering or uncomfortable for anyone. 🥺
I've always wanted to explain the way I experience attraction and relationships so thank you very much if you read all that. Let me know what your opinion on the topic is, down below!! 💃🏻🌹

ayo as a poc, Mare’s poc status seems very iffy in my eyes idk 😭😭
To me it feels like Victoria rlly said “yk what I feel like avoiding some controversy” *vigorously tries to call Mare a poc without giving her any ethnic features or even mentioning it at all in the 1st book*
I had to read the RQ for school so no, I didn’t miss it, I took heavy annotations on it. Mare is honestly my least favorite character because of how WHITE she’s written from a poc standpoint.
It’s this very common thing with yt writers where they darken a characters skin tone and think that’s all it means to be a person of color. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect Victoria to make insightful commentary as she IS a white woman, and since it’s fantasy and our ideas of race in this world aren’t supposed to exist. But representation isn’t just “wow she also has dark skin” it’s more the features. Mare is consistently described as having Eurocentric features.
And then white people always try to talk over us like “oh well it doesn’t matter she’s just written that-“ like shush omfg. People calling Mare Latina is hella disrespectful 💀 like what the actual fuck Latin countries don’t even exist in their world. Her last name is fucking Barrow. Her middle name is Molly. That’s so European I had a seizure. Just randomly saying “yuh girlie this character is Latina” seems fucked up.
Not directed @ you but just in general this shit sucks because it gets us further and further away from actual helpful representation in media.
I get you're upset about this. Maybe you've read too much of this type of character and you're fed up with it. I feel you. I agree Mare's skin color being barely described in canon (it got better as the books went by, but it was too little too late🎵) when the Calore boys' skin color was mentioned every two sentences was not great. I don't think Mare was described as having Eurocentric features tho... she simply wasn't described all that much 🤷♀️
My personal take on white writers making characters random ethnicities in fantasy/sci-fi and that not having any relevance whatsoever on the plot is that I freaking love it. I find it refreshing, a good step toward diversity in fiction as long as they don't bring up real-life stereotypes into the page 🤡. Why does the character having X skin color have to affect their journey if the plot has nothing to do with it? It's like the issue with the S&B adaptation: in their effort to be more "woke" and shoving fictional anti-Asian racism into the show, they alienated Asian viewers. I'm a brown, indigenous Latina. I like reading stories where people who I can imagine looking like me are getting the magical stone and their skin color doesn't matter. When I want to read stories where racial/gender/sexual orientation issues are central topics, I'll simply go read authors who have an actual say in the matter bc of their lived experience.
About Mare having a European name. I say this with all the love in my heart: please stop thinking of us Latines as brown-skinned, brown-eyed people with the last name Torres or Rodriguez. That's not what our demographic looks like (I do look like that tho). There have been so many immigration movements all through history, there are black ppl with European last names, there are blond-whiter-that-mayo ppl with Torres last name. We mixed around these places. I kindly invite you to watch a video on the topic (reading statistics on Wikipedia is no fun).
And finally, you won't catch me defending a white writer lady in my house, but VA only said Mare would be of latine descent after being asked about it by fans. Her reply and explanation made sense with the RQ world-building. Now it became of relevance bc of fancasts and for me personally bc I write modern AUs where Latin America is very much still around geographically speaking 🥴.
That's my personal stance on the matter, but I respect your frustration and the points you brought up about the lack of description of Mare's physical appearance.

Wine drunk asks? Okay!
Describe the last date you went on!
Oof I wish I could describe a better experience to you but unfortunately I can’t
It’s been over a year since I’ve gone on a date so this may be a bit iffy on exact details, but I drover over an hour to meet up with this girl. We get to the restaurant and I go to the bathroom and when I get back water had been ordered for me, which would’ve been fine if she had been like “oh btw I just got you a water when the waiter came by bc I didn’t know what you wanted”. But no, no acknowledgment of that or anything. But I let it slide bc I thought “Maybe she’s just being nice
But anyway as the date progresses she just starts dominating the conversation like interrupting me, shifting topics to talking about what she wants to talk about, etc. also has not acknowledged my appearance in anyway like hair, makeup, etc. which isn’t a requirement I guess but I did a full face of makeup for this date with over the top eyeshadow and no acknowledgement
Also she starts talking about how she beat the shit out of some dude on campus horridly, which he was a douche bag but not exactly the conversation you want to have with a person who you just met who is 5’11 to your just under 5’7, but who is also twice as big as you over all and you’re over an hour away from home
Then after dinner she asks if I want to drive around in an park by her house thats “usually pretty empty” 🙃 Again first date with this girl who has admitted she can and has beat the shit out of people asking me to go to an empty park with her in her car
Thankfully I convince her to just go to the mall where she seems super off put the rest of the time (probably bc I didn’t go to the empty park 🙃) and then after proceeds to ghost me
So like, not the best date 😅
But I appreciate the ask!

Before requesting any NSFW, please make sure you are following my do’s and don’ts, which are listed beneath this. Some will apply to SFW so I do advise you take a look through.
Spam of asking where your request is will result in your original request being deleted. Writing takes time, even if it is just headcanons (bc when requesting hcs, i take it too far).

Any requests including sexism, racism, fatphobia, homophobia, transphobia, underaged drinking/nsfw, incest will be deleted immediately.
^ That being said, if you request something like “character with insecure chubby s/o” or “character with closeted trans! s/o” will always be accepted. I love creating that kind of stuff! However if you specifically ask for characters being homophobic, transphobic, or any of the issues mentioned above, those will be immediately deleted and you may receive a block from me.
NSFW content will only be written for characters who were 18 or older by the time Naruto Shippuden ended. Konoha 11, + sasuke & sai, will always been written during The Last or Boruto eras, when they are adults. Konohamaru, Hanabi, and the other younger cast will never be written in NSFW content.

Genuinely asking here bc maybe I've missed/forgotten some stuff but... when homo- and transphobic stuff is said in DA, it's addressed in game as being bad, isn't it? Like Dorian's first personal quest is about his dad acknowleding his homophobia and apologizing to Dorian. And with Krem, Krem and Bull both correct the Inquisitor pretty sternly if you misgender him, and Bull explains how gender identity is respected under the Qun. Not trying to fight you on this, nor do I think DA is by any means perfect, I just don't recall seeing homophobia or transphobia that isn't quickly shut down by the player or other characters. Don't feel pressured to answer tho, I know it's not your job to pull receipts for every shitty thing in a video game lol
Well first off thanks for being so polite and nice in this message, I appreciate it. I'm gonna try and cover the stuff that I've seen myself and have had pointed out to me by other people but keep in mind that I'm not trans, most of what I'll say here on the transphobia issue is me parroting other trans fans who've said this sort of thing before. I am gay though, so I guess we're clear on that front. It's also been a while since i played any of the games so if i get stuff wrong, I'm sorry. This is gonna be long so sorry for that in advance.
So homophobia and transphobia in our world. Why is it a thing? A combination of humanity hating and fearing what it doesn't understand (which Dragon Age also has) and religion, specifically in my experience Christianity (which Dragon Age does not have). Yes the Chantry and Andrastianism is heavily based off of Christianity and Catholicism but it doesn't have any of the bullshit about sexuality and gender that Christianity does. Neither in it's holy texts or it's teachings. The in universe writing about sexuality, a codex by Brother Genitivi, is also kinda homophobic and doesn't explain why this is a thing in Thedas at all. Queer relations and relationships are aparently viewed by most of Southern Thedas as 'peculiar' but no explanation is given as to why. Now I'm gonna go into specific instances.
First off, let's look at some of the stuff you've mentioned. Dorian and his dad. Yeah that whole situation hit me pretty close to home as a queer person who's pretty much accepted at this point that my dad will never accept who I am and my mother died still not having accepted me. What Halward did is definitely portrayed as a bad thing, that is correct. The narrative kind of subtly pushing the reconciliation being the good option is a bit iffy. What Halward tried to do to Dorian is straight up abuse and I really don't like plotlines that push making nice with the abuser and forgiving them as a good resolution. This is kind of more personal feelings than straight from the script fact but I wanted to say it anyway.
Second issue: Krem's treatment. So many trans people have talked about this before me, if you want some more in depth analysis of this you should go check out some of their stuff, it won't be hard to find. The basics though: Krem is voiced by a cis woman. This immediately sets a shitty precedent on the side of the devs lending proof to the theory that they don't care about uplifting trans people, just making money off them. Krem should have been voiced by a trans actor. In the actual conversation with Iron Bull you get the opportunity to be extremely transphobic. And if you do this you get told off, and that's kind of it. The fact that your character even has the option to do that is a) gross from an out of character writing perspective, and b) makes no sense in character. Why would your character have these views? There is no in lore reason for any of the potential groups your character comes from to be transphobic. Also, and this is just my opinion, but if you're transphobic to Krem (even though it makes no sense in universe) the Iron Bull's reaction shouldn't be a bit of disapproval, he should send you through the fucking wall. Seems more in character. Also, gender roles under the Qun also have a lot of potential to be transphobic, they are by no means an improvement on ours imo. Under the Qun your gender is essentially decided by your role. So if you're a fighter you're male. If you care for children you're female. Not only is that pretty hella sexist and reliant on our dumb ideas of gender roles (that again aren't supposed to be a thing in Thedas) it also has potential to be hell for trans people. Yes it would work for someone like Krem, but for someone who was AMAB and good at fighting but they were a woman? Being shoved into male gender roles and treated as a man would not be good. If the writer's intent was to create a society with an entirely different concept of and approach to gender they've done it wrong because of how much of it is reliant on the audience's perception of gender which (going by general gaming demographics) is pretty cis and het normative.
Now I'm gonna talk about the transphobia that doesn't get challenged. Sera makes a couple transphobic comments throughout the game I believe, the one I can remember in detail is in the Winter Palace when she says someone presenting a certain way isn't actually that. And without any further context the only way the audience can really interpret that is that the writers decided to take a cheap shot at someone cross dressing in a bad attempt at comedy.
Sera's writing in general is super homophobic because she was written by a homophobe. I'm not gonna go into all of that in this cos this is already too long and I could write essays about it. Other people already have! But basically, she's the only out and out lesbian romance we have in the series, and her writing in that respect is really not good.
So how about the other games? Well. In origins you can hire sex workers at a brothel. The 'special' on offer is a very masc presenting dwarf in a poorly fitting dress. This was a very transphobic attempt at humour. Zevran, much as I love him dearly, is a walking bisexual stereotype, made worse by feeding into the 'sexy Latine' stereotype on top of that, which isn't an in universe problem so much as it is proof that the writers are guilty of prejudices whether they know it or not. I suspect there's more instances in origins but I can't remember right now.
In Dragon Age 2 Seneschal Bran has a relationship of some kind with a sex worker named Serendipity, a feminine presenting elf with a very deep voice. This is played as something that Bran should be ashamed of. At least I think so, it could be that he's ashamed of having a relationship with a sex worker. Not that far fetched considering Aveline's weaponisation of the word 'whore' against Isabela. But this is also something that doesn't make sense honestly. Why is sex work taboo in thedas? Christianity isn't around to make it so and Andrastianism doesn't have purity culture going except for their clergy ( which also is never explained why and makes no sense.) Additionally, Uncle Gamlen is super homophobic. Why? There is no reason culturally or religiously for him to be that way? Yes he's an asshole but why is he an asshole in that manner? And you don't even get to challenge him on it! It's passive dialogue that you trigger when walking into his house and you don't immediately get the option to fucking fight him about it? Why put it in then?!
A good amount of this is off topic from the actual question so sorry about that but TLDR there's a lot of in universe homophobia and transphobia, most of it is not handled well in or out of universe. I do believe that they're trying to do better in this respect, inquisition was a step up from previous games it just wasn't enough of one.
If you want more stuff like this go check out @dalishious cos they have a ton of very good meta on subjects related to this.

alright let’s talk about feminism
(this is a lot of men & women btw, i’m sorry to all of u who identify as otherwise, but where u fit in hasn't been as big of a topic, but i’ll make sure to get to that another time)
the term feminism is flung about everywhere in the media, but ppl don't seem to be using the same dictionary, or any dictionary at all. so let's talk a little about the f word.
personally, i feel iffy about the word ‘feminist’ & try not to use the word about myself if i can help it (not that i’m not a feminist). bc damn there are so many ppl out there who don't use dictionaries & it's a really misleading word. let's get this straight: being a feminist means standing for equality. it doesn't mean hating men & thinking women are superior. media fixates its attention on those who stand out & guess what. the radicals who call themselves feminists are the ones who stand out. which means that many ppl think that's what feminism is. so does it rlly come as a surprise that many men are against feminism.
a lot of men don't call themselves feminists bc well, have u heard of feminism. so honestly i think the term feminism was a pretty bad decision made by someone back in the day.
also i’m in no way an expert in this subject, but i’ve been around on feminist accs & well, a lot of these issues are in the details, the small things. & u have no idea how many feminists i see making fun of men. the hypocrisy. & i’m not here to call ppl out bc we’ve all gotta support each other if this is gonna work, but damn. also that is exactly my point. we gotta work together if this is gonna work. how is making fun of men working together. it’s exactly the same as men making fun of women. it doesn't solve a single fucking thing. so pls, in 2019 let’s not demean men in the same way it's been done to women.
and i really believe that a lot of men want equality. they might not feel comfortable w feminism (perhaps bc of the fact that some feminists make fun of men??? hmm??) or not be aware of what feminism actually is. also a lot of men aren't aware of the problem bc they're privileged. (& would probs support it if they knew)
& you can't hate on them for not being aware of gender inequality bc of their privilege. how on earth are they supposed to know if someone doesn't show/tell them. everyone who doesn't think the world needs gender equality, hasn't experienced it & doesn't know the consequences. so let's go share our experiences & show the consequences instead of making fun of them. & guess what, we have the internet. use your voice, i beg of you.
a lot of men also feel left out of the conversation. i’m not saying we should let them speak for women, no way. but gender inequality also greatly affects men in ways women don't rlly know that well (after all, we're not men). yes, the greatest issue is how women are constantly suppressed & yes, that's what we should mainly focus on. but when we talk about breastfeeding in public, let's also talk about the lack of diaper changing stations in public male bathrooms. when we talk about getting more females in stem & politics, let's talk about getting more males in nursing and teaching. when we talk about female beauty standards, let's also talk about male beauty standards. when we talk about strong women, let's also talk about men expressing emotions. yes, a lot of feminists do this, but most don't.
feminism is getting places & doing things, but there are still a lot of things to do. don't be silent just bc lots of ppl speak out (it's not enough) & don't be deceived by how like minded you & your friends are (gender inequality is still a huge problem & not everyone perceives it as such). this has to be an open discussion, but that means all parts should be informed. i haven't touched upon that yet, bc this thing is getting too long, but in short: being informed is the most important thing when it comes to these discussions, there are so many discussions we wouldn't have to have if ppl were educated. get informed.
there's sm more to talk about, but u’re probs sick of me by now. so here's to a 2019 where society becomes more informed & accepting.

i get nervous whenever my movie night buddy asks me is the movie i chose is gay bcs i dont know if the movie i chose is gay ive never watch it before and im not a review reader kinda person. i read content warnings bcs i know there are stuff my buddy doesnt wanna watch but i dont seek out lgbtqia+ content. i dont seek out romantic content in general and explicit sexual content makes me iffy.
but even if i have watched the movie or is familiar with the source material im just blind to romance in general. i wouldnt know if these characters have any romantic chemistry until its either specifically stated or i check out the fandom on ao3 and saw the tags and be like “oooh now that i think about it they do have chemistry”. i have a friend raving about her date for 30mins and i didnt catch the romantic connotations until 20mins in when she outright says the word boyfriend. i have a friend confess their crush on me (unknowingly, he thought i was asleep and i was only half-asleep) and i didnt realize what he meant until after graduation when another friend was like “why cant he confess when youre awake, then you can get your first dating experience”
(i feel really bad to any future significant other i might have. you really need to be explicit about your romantic intentions.)
also, im pretty sure im straying from topic now but same thing with fandom pushing the creator to confirm a ship, especially pushing that confirmation in-universe and not just irl. like i understand wanting representation and some actor claims in headlines or on twitter just arent enough representation but pushing it just make it seems too fast? like im probably not making sense. im not saying i wanted a slow burn or that fandom pushing kills slow burns. im just confused. do people actually fall in love that fast?? just ask a stranger you encounter in a coffee shop to go on a date?? do people actually experience love at first sight?? you just met each other 5 days ago and youre already attracted??
this is probably why i dont seek out romantic content. i know im not gonna relate im just gonna be confused so i just dont.
#honestly i can probably tag this as lgbtqia+#scrolling the tag#demiromantic#is the most relatable romantic content#ive ever got#and its in tumblr#but this is more of a rant#its not even a good structured rant#like what i usually have in my blog#so imma just#leave it like it is#oh wait back to the first paragraph#how do i tell my friend#no i dont know if its gay pls stop asking me#without coming across as homophobic#god that sounds like a reddit post#WIBTA if i ask my friend not to ask me about gay movies#i dont think im homophobic im just blind af to romance#my thoughts

oh my gosh. OH MY GOSH. sicilian fresco was amazing. (also that title is so perfect) i l o v e your use of imagery and how you describe everything. it was a bit confusing at first, but i think it kinda added to the tone of the story. reading it made me feel like i was in a dream, and the second person pov definitely helped. overall i really really liked it!!
i literally just slapped the title on bc my friend mentioned how she liked the way i called it a “fresco” in italy rather than just a “painting” (which i wouldve if my deeply buried love for history didnt yell at me not to) but i’m so glad you think it fits!!
as for the whole thing being confusing at first, i’m still incredibly worried about how it affects the reading experience. like,,i feel like it might take too long for someone to get it, if you know what i mean? like it’s a complex topic that definitely gets easier to understand further in and there’s a lot more you’ll notice in the second read but akdbakjd i thought it might be a bit off-putting at first
tl;dr: tysm i’m glad you liked it and ur feedback is!!! so appreciated i was super iffy about this piece.

NAME: Mellu GENDER: Female EYE COLOR: Blue HAIR COLOR: Red RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single ZODIAC: Aries FAVORITE COLOR: Dark red, blue FAVORITE SEASON: Late spring / early summer FAVORITE PLACE: idk FAVORITE HOLIDAY: Easter season is p cool since I keep getting random days off FAVORITE VIDEO GAME: I have to say Journey. Nothing has really ever come close to the experience I got when I first played the game. LAST SHOW YOU WATCHED: 3% WHAT’S YOUR HONEST OPINION ABOUT YOUR MUSE?: Honestly though this is a topic i could ramble on about for ages. The concept is cool. Take the tyrannical emperor of Rome who might have burnt down the place and tortured Christians, and make him a woman and put her on the moon. They executed it pretty well I think, except they went way too far with the whole waifu charade.
She’s cute, yes, and I love her, but each time I play EXTRA or Extella I kinda get iffy how she just acts like an affection starved puppy. It could have been done better is all I say. You could have had your waifu bit in her, but also make her more like the emperor Nero was and it would have been good.
we don’t talk about septem on this blog
WOULD YOU DATE YOUR MUSE?: hell yea WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE KINDS OF THREADS?: Not sure how to say this in words but like the ones that really take thought process to write a reply to bc they are talking about something or are planning a strategy idk man ARE YOU A SELECTIVE ROLEPLAYER?: For my own comfort yes DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MUSE?: Does my long-ass rant and 2+ years of rping as nero not show how much i love her i can’t be stopped WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE FANDOM?: is this abt the rping ‘fandom’? i made the blog bc i had finished extra recently and boi was i v gay for nero DO YOU SEE YOURSELF STAYING WITH THE FANDOM FOR A LONG TIME?: probably yeah there is no escaping the hell that is fate
