The hug!!
This one was once again commissioned by our dear @i-am-as-normal-as-you-are and we actually talked about this scene quite a lot. Charles is still going through it, and he doesn't even feel like he should be getting the hugs he needs. Poor boy.

i can’t stop thinking about how mcr released the black parade in 2006 and aftg is set in 2006 because i think aaron minyard had a borderline religious experience listening to that album

Every other aspect of Jesse’s trauma makes me go oh no poor blorbo :( but his relationship w his parents and thinking ab it in the context of the series aftermath actually makes me unwell… they never even knew him they only ever saw the worst in him and now they’ve had that validated by his own actions and they’ll never know how sorry he is and that he was a good kid at heart and they didn’t imagine it and they still love him but how can they have loved him if they never even knew him and only ever saw the worst in him *flatlines*

#persona 4#p4#persona 4 golden#p4g#hanamura yosuke#souyo#this scene revealed so much of their relationship in one go#yosuke has already long been established as yu's confidant at this point but this moment really drove it home!#yosuke anticipates each of yu's behaviour#but even though he disagrees with it he doesn't judge yu for it#even going so far as to help yu hide it from the rest of the team#its debatable whether thats necessarily a good thing#but it demonstrates yosuke's unwavering loyalty to yu while also making clear his disappointment#and of course yosuke has much to feel sad and disappointment over - one the one hand it felt like yu didnt trust him/them enough#he phrased it as a matter of “you should trust us more” as opposed to “you should trust ME more” because talking about trust in the singula#would hit too close to home and risk making too many demands of yu. demands that yosuke didnt feel he was allowed to make#afterall why would yu trust him but not the others? but the team is made up of other more reliable people than he was#and bringing up the team gives yosuke a defensive cover#so as usual it's part of yosuke's self doubt creeping in#but theres also honesty here - yosuke wasnt here to accost him or be angry at him; he really showed up just to make sure that yu was safe#and once hes confirmed it yosuke falls back to his usual habits of cracking a joke to lighten the mood#to end the conversation on a joke feels like its as much a service for yu as it is for himself#we know yosuke tends to joke to make the people around him feel better and i think in this instance he was also trying to cheer yu up#whether it was to make up for yosuke approaching him or to alleviate any guilt yu might feel#or even to manage whatever it was that adachi might have said to yu (which yosuke undoubtedly picked up on)#yosuke doesn't let his disagreement with yu get in the way of supporting his partner#to some extent i also wonder if this loyalty was also coloured by their previous interaction with namatame and Yosuke's anger#it's been less than a week since that incident after all and i think theres this contradiction for yosuke#and i think there was probably a contradiction in Yosuke's heart in that moment: he doesn't trust himself to make good judgements#but as much as he'd rather take yu's lead in this instance he also feels like his leader was wrong here

It’s just…so painful to watch Armand readily submit in order to obtain the love he so desperately craves. And while it’s most assuredly a manipulative tactic, it’s still one borne out of fear and desperation. He cannot lose this person he’s come to love and so will become whatever they want, do whatever they want just so they’ll stay with him. But it won’t be enough. No matter how much he acquiesces or seeks to control (himself, others, the environment), he won’t be able to make Louis stay with him in the perfect life, perfect self he built in the hopes of finally being loved. It will all crumble with Armand left alone in the rubble of what he created, the author of his own abandonment.
#this unfortunately hits way too close to home for me#let’s not even get into Claudia’s anger at never being enough#iwtv spoilers#interview with the vampire#armand#this is just me speaking from personal experience…but there is definite manipulation at play here from Armand#and I don’t necessarily mean that pejoratively- when you’re desperate for people to like/love you you’ll become whatever they want#or whatever you think they’d want and you give it to them so they’ll want to keep you around#I’ve done it so often with the people in my life- and make no mistake it’s also a survival tactic#you give someone what they want they won’t hurt you#and when that’s how you survive for years and years it becomes the default method of interacting with others#even with normal people who genuinely mean you no harm you revert to that people pleasing mode#as a means of control both external and internal#this is what i see armand doing- his way of surviving that he’s never truly broken out of#armand ceding coven control to Louis and curating the Dubai penthouse for Louis are part of the same pattern of behavior#and even tho it’s ultimately harmful and will only end badly for armand and Louis’ relationship#idk if armand knows how to not exist that way with someone he loves/desires#all of this also ties into louis and daniel#because of course Armand will lose it over Louis finding connection and interest with someone else aside from him#someone HUMAN no less#and I can see Armand taking out his anger on Daniel as a way of expressing his own frustration at still not being enough for Louis#breaking daniel’s mind in a desperate attempt to understand why this human could reach Louis in ways he couldn’t#not saying any of this to excuse Armand and his behavior obviously (I’m very upset and worried over the trial looming on the horizon)#but I do understand this impulse and how you’ll throw ANYONE under the bus in order to preserve your place with loved ones#it’s all horrifying but unfortunately I empathize#like even if Louis is right to walk out on him when he learns/remembers the truth of what happened to Claudia#I’ll probably still find myself saddened by Armand’s fate because I’ve absolutely been there myself#it’s a tragedy of his own making- his fear and desperation birthing manipulative and controlling behaviors#that ultimately result in your own abandonment#god this fucking show

I believe that, no matter how you twist and turn it, Vegeta was an incredibly lonely child who weren't given the small childish moments that we see both Broly and Raditz have. He was told from he was born that he was above everyone else and he had to behave as such. He was also expected to become a Super Saiyan, represent his race and later possibly avenge (whether he knew that Frieza had destroyed Vegetasei or not - I've seen people say different things).
It's also very plausible that Frieza isolated him even further. Perhaps giving him missions where he's on his own, like the one where he's sitting surrounded by bodies. Frieza seemed to relish Vegeta’s pain and isolating him from everyone else would certainly accomplish that.
Vegeta clearly believes that a Saiyan is supposed to be a lone wolf when everything else we see of the Saiyans is that they fight together. In reality, he works alone because it's all he's ever known.
Regarding his adult self and his morals, I believe it's safe to assume he consistently has to remind himself that other people's lives matter, even if he has no interest in them. And yes, it's takes time.
But I think the Granolah Saga shows a shift in him when he says that he owes the Namekian people for the hurt he has caused them. It sounds like it is something that he has been pondering before and not a spur of the moment thing.
It's difficult to say what has caused this change in him. Could it be that he has seen the bigger picture now that he knows there are many different universes and how quickly they can be extinguished? Perhaps it is a conclusion he has come to on his own. Does it mean that he feels responsible for other species whose planets he has destroyed or only those he killed when he wasn't under Frieza’s thumb? Who knows?
Now that I have posted screenshot evidence I can say it is so fucking funny and also tragic that basically every time we see Vegeta as a kid, he is being an asshole, almost no exception. He was not going to be a decent person even if there was no Freeza, that's for sure. Was there ever any period when he was young where he was not in favor of murder and oppression? idk but we certainly haven't seen it.
Like, it makes sense that he's mirroring the adults around him. They've been modeling violence for him as long as he's been conscious. They've also been teaching him that he's better than everyone else and the only thing that matters is strength. But I've always thought it's an interesting decision to not take any opportunity to show him as legitimately child-like in any way. Is it just, not thinking about the fact that he should be about 5 and that is not how a normal 5 year old acts or is it intentional? He even usually sounds like he's already an adult. The closest we ever get to Vegeta acting like a normal child is when he's upset that Beerus is threatening his dad. And even that is him experiencing distress. I'm sure someone with a better grasp on child psychology and child abuse could write up a much better set of thoughts on it.
