Unpopular opinion but I actually like that Kazuki and Rei aren't romantically/sexually involved with eachother.
I know a lot of other people would rather it be a bl, but personally I'm genuinely super happy with them being familial and platonic.
Why? Because its still queer. They just aren't gay. This is clearly a queer platonic relationship 🫶🏾💕

don't get me wrong, 'rogue' is a great episode, but i've been buzzing with anger since it came out because what the fuck do you mean "first gay kiss"? and this isn't just because i'm a ninejackrose truther (i am), it's because jack harkness has been openly canonically in love with the doctor since 2005. he kissed him on the mouth in 2005 and it was earnest and flagrantly queer. jack harkness has been an unkillable faggot on family television since 2005 and you WILL put some fucking respect on his name because that shit is important. and even if jack harkness hadn't initiated the first gay kiss on doctor who, then there have still been times when the doctor has kissed men. and even if you write those off as platonic, what about the fucking sapphics that all of you are deciding to ignore? what about madame vastra and jenny, a married couple. or, more recently, the very notably lesbian bill kissing heather. and even all of this flippantly treats the historical queer subtext of the show as unimportant.
tl;dr, the fifteen did not have the first gay kiss on doctor who so stop fucking saying that

The only way I can think about Eddie's storyline without having a panic attack is if I think of his whole storyline in parts instead of a whole collective arc.
As in:
Part 1 is the Shannon aspect.
Part 2 is the catholic guilt/religious trauma aspect.
Part 3 is the queer awakening itself.

Being visibly queer is sometimes very funny.
I'm volunteering at an art gallery, getting ready for an upcoming event. I've met a lot of queer people there, and it is a very progressive environment. I've spent a lot of time at that art gallery this past year as it has been a safe space for me in a variety of ways.
Prior to leaving to go to the gallery, I throw on a hat as I always do, this one happened to be my leafs pride hat. I know that I'm safe to wear it there, it's one of my favourite hats anyways and I don't wear it that often.
I'm doing my volunteer stuff, bouncing around from one thing to another; folding and placing tablecloths, washing chairs, on ladders putting up decor, etc... I love being at the gallery and I'm glad that this is what I can do to give back to them.
I'm done my shift about to head home after staying an extra 30 minutes. Telling the coordinators that I'm on the way out and I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. Right as I'm leaving, someone comes up to me. I offered him help with something earlier in the afternoon, but he said that he was good. I did take his ladder though.
I know that this man is probably not a heterosexual to begin with. Says that he's noticed all the hard work I've been doing and my hat all afternoon and wanted to tell me how much he loves it. Asks me if I bought it in Toronto, and we get talking a bit about sports, tells me about an upcoming leafs that he's going to soon, etc... He was also hoping that I was volunteering later in the evening and seemed moderately disappointed that I wasn't (sadly, I've neglected most academic responsibility this week and I need to lock in).
That man was definitely flirting with me, I was too oblivious to notice, and I definitely fumbled it <3

I'm honestly not fond of the 'this piece of media is about the x experience so only x people can truly enjoy it' mentality bc the second part just makes it exclusionary. the point of media from a marginalised group's perspective should be to show the world what it's like rather than just going 'you wouldn't get it'

I need some of you to stop trying to find homosexual romances in straight media and actually sit down and start supporting the LGBTQ+ media that’s already out there.

You know what I have to talk about it a LITTLE because something is pissing me off. I won’t be explicit about what exactly is shown but in an over abundance of caution the rest of this post is under a cut.
I’m sorry you were made cynical by queerbaiting but guess what, we were ALL queer baited at least once. It doesn’t give you an excuse to shit on people being excited about a thing or assuming the worst about a creator who, at worst, doesn’t understand literally every solidarity detail of the queer experience there is to know. There is absolutely no context to indicate this is going to be a big fuck you no homo moment, I would expect it from Supernatural but I’m sorry, good omens has always been aggressively queer friendly in many casual and colorful ways. I’m sorry, but fans are not stupid for trusting a creator who has been nothing but trustworthy, and not assuming we’ll be smacked in the face by a show that has always made us feel safe and accepted.

one day people will stop looking at misogynistic men and saying they're secretly gay, and finally realize implicitly associating non-queer men's hatred with queerness as well as disregarding the patriarchy's pervasiveness helps (checks notes) literally nobody

"While waiting [for Émilie], [Voltaire] seemed attached to several horses, for he had made the little 'abbé' Linant come to Rouen and even offered hospitality to another young man named Lefebvre, a budding poet aged 20 like the other, and like a certain Lamare, the third ephebos that he cosseted and who was also an abbot. The first had already made a trip to Paris to keep his acquaintance with [Lord Bolingbroke]. This boy seems to have had equivocal relations with Cideville, which makes this phrase from a letter from Voltaire from May 29 to this advisor, a letter prior to the return of the 'chubby abbot', amusing: 'When he wants to come back to Paris, I will rent him a hole near my house; he will furthermore be the master of dinner and supper every day in my retreat.' He practically offered him to share his bed. The presence of these two young men by him distinctly reminds one of the young 'writers' that the abbé Desfontaines, the famous pederast, had had near him for so long, and who served at once as mignons and secretaries. Even if he did not take up with them the liberties that he had formerly had with Thieriot in M. Alain's study, he still cherished this extreme familiarity with young people." - Voltaire et Frédéric II by Roger Peyrefitte.
FIRST off, why are we stating as fact that any "liberties" happened with Thieriot. There is zero proof. There is circumstantial evidence in that you could interpret V's letters to Thieriot as being kinda gay and then infer that "liberties" occurred, but even if we are interpreting the letters as gay, that's still a big jump to make from 'V felt more than just friendship for Thieriot' to 'they definitely slept together', which there's no real evidence for.
Second of all, there is no evidence of anything going on with Linant. Nancy Mitford suggested it as well, with the reasoning being that Linant was stupid and useless and why else would V keep him around, which is the same argument that's been used for V and Thieriot being gay. But a relationship between V and Linant being a possible explanation for something does not mean that that's evidence for a relationship, and Mitford doesn't cite anything V wrote as potential proof. And also like. The man resorted to full-on referring to his plays + la Henriade as his children to an extent and (unofficially) adopted Marie-Françoise and pretty much Reine Philiberte and Villette as well. And reading the letters about Linant from V to Cideville, and V talking about Linant's improvements in writing, it very much sounds like he's just proud of Linant and sees himself as a father figure. Again, also just a possibility, but it works equally well as an explanation and it fits into an already established pattern, plus it's based on what V actually wrote.
Thirdly, I would like to emphasise the "aged 20". "Aged 20" is not the same as what the "famous pederast" was doing.
Fourthly, saying that that quote about Linant coming back to Paris is "practically offering him to share his bed" is the single most batshit far-fetched gay interpretation I have ever seen in my life, and I was in the Hamilton fandom for three years. Genuinely how do you even get there. Bitch could've invited Linant to stay with him but he specifically said he'd rent him a different place. How does that equate to inviting him into his bed. This part alone is what's gonna convince me of Peyrefitte's bottom V thesis cause I can interpret two letters in that way and I can no longer be self-conscious about how I interpret literally anything, because it's still gonna be 10 miles more sane and evidenced than anything Peyrefitte's said.
@enlitment I apologise deeply for making you read this, but here's a taste of why the book sucks... Turns out I actually stopped reading on page 20 lol cause that's where my yelling at Peyrefitte in the margins stops.

Ok, but... this is the show that it is. Mark me as on Con O'Neill watch until season 3, same as I was on Nathan Foad watch. If Buttons is a bird, nothing is impossible.
If Izzy comes back as an animal too, what are we thinking? Literal unicorn?

a rly underrated thing about crazy ex girlfriend imo is that it's one of the rare shows i know of that really spends time on exploring what the process of having children is like for queer ppl/for those who go about it "non-normatively". it's not even rly a main storyline but i still find it rly well-handled and touching.
#idk i feel like in the general consciousness (deciding to) having kids as a queer person is either treated as impossible#(which is true to an extent in some jurisdictions tbf - at least if you want the legal status of parents)#or is imo way oversimplified#like yeah most ppl know ivf is A Fucking Process but many ppl still seem to underestimate iui for example#or there's an assumption that all couples with no sperm between them choose to use a sperm bank and that that process is easy#and doesn't require any reflection (which it isn't and it does)#or that if you choose to go with a known donor finding a donor is an easy process (which it also rly isn't)#or for couples where no one can get pregnant that surrogacy goes without saying (in addition to the fact that surrogacy is banned#in Many Places where other MAR techniques aren't#finding a surrogate is also orders of magnitude more difficult than finding a gamete donor)#or that adoption is an obvious solution - idk if those ppl know any gay couples who are trying to adopt but i do#they've been in the process for SIX psychologically excruciating years and it will likely be another year before they actually have a child#and that's for white college-educated materially comfortable ppl#and idk but cxg does a rly good job with the storyline - from Darryl and White Josh's disagreement about whether to have kids#to Darryl's decision to have a kid alone#to him asking Heather and Rebecca for help with that process#to the fact that Heather and Rebecca's feelings about Hebecca are v realistic and nuanced atm#not at all maternal bc that's never what they wanted or planned for (being a mother to this child) but also not indifferent#for example the 'hello nice to meet you' reprise - i legit think that's the only time i've ever seen a known donor's attitude and feelings#about the child they helped create but in no way consider 'theirs' being explored. even in thirty seconds.#or even just the fact that Darryl is a lawyer and requests help from both a gamete donor and a gestational carrier - yes!#as far as i understand in the us 'surrogacy' (one person being pregnant with their own ovule) gives the pregnant person legal parental stat#and thus requires giving up those rights and sometimes adoption after birth#while 'splitting things up' between a donor and a carrier also cuts through that 'biological' link for the purposes of legal recognition#i might be wrong in my understanding of this but if not it's cool to see it handled realistically including wrt how the legal consequences#influences decisions about which choices you make#reproduction cw#children cw#adoption cw

#i am reading some stuff in the agatha tags#i know not a great idea#i just thought since I've been enjoying the meta posts atleast some of them I'll just keep a lookout for it#but as usual#the bs comes through#i have not seen one person who is mad coz agathario not been the focus#so either I've blocked all the idiots#or more likely people are preemptively policing others#which i guese is bound to happen but boy does it annoy me#i really don't care about them being endgame or getting happy ending or whatever#i felt the fandom as a whole also understands that and are just enjoying the ride#it's still mcu#we can be cautiously optimistic but especially with a story like agatha's#and her and rio's relationship being actually labelled as romantic antagonists#i fail to see how people even think that it's going to end as them getting some sappy happyily ever after or something like that#seriously do people really think that's in the cards#or it's just some wishful fanon thinking#i just want to enjoy the show as a show with all these interesting women characters#maybe i am alone in it but from what I've seen atleast on tumblr it feels the same for most of us here#i dunno what happens on other social media sites and i also actually don't care#it's always been like that especially wlw queer ships so yeah it kinda irritates me#i think i need to filter better and try focusing on the artsy stuff#anyways i am wondering if they will release teaser for next epi or not#I'll prefer to go without knowing anything tbh it is kind of exciting to experience it fresh without any spoilers#lets see#in the meantime i am rewatching the show and getting evermore obsessed with agatha and to some extent rio ha ha!#i am posting too much u can tell i am very invested now ...anybody want to pull me out? no? okayyy..down the road I go...!#i am so gay dude...fml#tag ramblings#for ts
