We finally got to the comic that actually made me think about this AU in the first place. After I was mulling around the idea of Loop looking like Siffrin the whole time, I realised that the conversation of "who or what do you think I am?" doesn't apply anymore. But you know what would?

The question of why Loop is even here in the first place. Because while it's nice to have another you around to help you out of the loops, isn't it weird that they're even here? Who sent them?

way back in like. march?? I took a stab at writing some kind of kabitserye type of story but it was a mess: it kept veering off into murder mystery drama territory because I was reading a lot of murder mystery novels around then and it Wasn't Good because I hadn't tried writing mysteries, let alone murder mysteries, before lmao

I did write a handful of short mystery stories since then, so next year I might take a stab at this idea again now that I'm no longer jumping head first into a genre pool I don't know how to swim in :)

#now for the part where i have to fight off the impulse to write in some b movie horror elements because ive been thinking about #reanimator a lot lately. ehghghh. thank god for the editing process. to wrangle my thoughts into a linear state of creating #anyway i read an article. interview? on the popularity of infidelity dramas in the philippines and it was poetry to me #and i also enjoy the really intense social melodrama in lino brocka's films. specifically the appearance of morality to cover up/justify #ugly behavior. or like. man i'm tired. whatever was going on in murder by tsismis. that's the thing. someday i'll get more into it #and post excerpts from the actual analysis of the film that actually explains the dynamic im talking around here #komiks tag #original tag #also there's some. vague lingering thought about ikaw lamang in here. not in a way that matters #but in a 'the first episode that i saw was not the first episode of the drama itself and it made me go. oh everyone has rotten vibes'#which is not. well. if you saw ikaw lamang then you know the characters. this is not the takeaway from the show. #house md #prince's talk tag #flashing #repitition #so as i was watching this show i noticed they'd say the episode title in the episode #so i wanted to see how many times they did it #the people on livejournal who made transcripts of the episodes are my saviors and without them this would of been so much harder to do #thank you all for your service and i hope wherever you all are you're having a great day #sometimes they would use a variation of the word like in the episode poison they would say 'poisoned' or 'poisoning'#i did not include those instances #there was an instance in 'merry little christmas' where they do play the song in the show #but since ella fitzgerald was not a character in the show i did not include it #where as in the episode 'joy to the world' the students are singing it in the concert so i did include that #i apologize for the tonal whiplash when you get to that part but it did make me laugh #one of the times kutner says 'locked in' is overshadowed by the POTW's voice over but i assure you he says it and thats why its in there #out of the main characters from the one who said the title the most to least are #House > Foreman > Wilson > Chase > Cuddy > Adams > Cameron and Taub > Kutner > Thirteen and Park #this took a bit to do lolol its probably been done already but i wanted my own #there is a chance im missing some on technicalities but idc. im fine with this #there are two more i wanna do but with a character saying another character's name but ill do that some other time #EDIT: When I was making this video I was unaware that the Pilot episode went by two names: 'Pilot' and 'Everybody Lies'#Basically everywhere I looked the first episode was only referred to by 'Pilot'#which I found weird bc i remember seeing somewhere that the last episode was paired with the first episode in terms of title #but i couldn't find hard proof so I decided to leave it out at the time #well i checked again last night and yea the pilot IS also called Everybody Lies so I updated the video #I also think it goes well with the fact that House does say 'Everybody Dies' in the finale so another reason to fix it #AND he says it without Wilson while he and Wilson say the title of the pilot sooooo yea hehehehehe

I wanted to ask you about Hitchcock 😔 If you're willing to answer, which movies of his do you think are overrated and which do you think are actually good? He's my most watched director (because film school) but I only genuinely like a few of his films and always disagreed with my classmates about which ones were the best

I feel like I'm holding up a Daffy Duck style sign that says "shoot me" because Hitchcock is so well thought of by cinephiles versus me, the basic horny mod who watches movies with hot people in them. With that said, I remember Rope, Dial M for Murder, North by Northwest, and To Catch a Thief all left me a bit flat, because I felt like he was prioritizing pushing technical limits or creating extravagant images over deeper characters and relationships. I love a good technical limit-pushing, but it needs to serve the story! And sometimes I feel like he has an idea he wants to try or an image he wants to show and puts so much focus on developing it that characters' reality and interest kind of falls by the wayside—they become pawns navigating his situations, instead of interesting characters in their own right.

To be fair, this is more a characteristic of his later work than his early work—The Lady Vanishes is one of my favorite movies, and I remember Notorious and Spellbound both being enjoyable when I watched them a few years ago. Again, basic film watcher here. Don't show this post to the Criterion collection.

#putting down the shoot me sign and backing away v fast #i just want to be clear i do NOT have cinephile movie taste. i like crowd pleasers and musicals and very silly movies.#i would be shot out of a film school in a cartoon cannon the minute they mentioned the word ~images~#with that said i am right and i should say it :) he is not that good of a director when it comes to storytelling :)#rope should be SO GOOD and....it is not. technically interesting. but not good!#posts that will get me murdered fr #asks #edit for more thoughts in the tags because this grinds my gears. lady vanishes works for me because there's lots of spookiness and a few #“wow!” pushing the limit things for film nerds. (the train noise is continuous & that was a big thing at the time)#but the train noise being continuous is SMART because it adds to the rising tension and sense of containment. essential to the story!#whereas rope does a similar trick (continuous looking shot) but it doesn't tie into the story in any way.#does it matter that we never look away from the living room with the corpse? does it mean something this happens in real-ish time?#you can make an argument it does textually but emotionally i never felt like rope's 1 shot was tying into *this* specific story.#like i thought it was called rope because the literal rope emotionally ties into the metaphorical rope of a neverending shot! but no #the tension never builds for me in rope and i think it's because not enough focus was spent on its characters or making sure the shot #echoed & or developed a point being made onscreen. you could make rope w/conventional cuts and edits and i dont think you would #emotionally end up with a significantly different movie. (it doesnt help that there are obvious seams in the shot at random places.)#all in all sometimes it feels like hitch is making a movie for people who understand what trick he's showing off #versus a movie for basic bitches like me who just want to hang out with some hot strange people for two hours #anyway. i feel like i have lost all my cred in one post. oh well. sorry hitch. lady vanishes is still great
