My roommate is so entertained by the prison warden. So much enthusiasm put into such a bit role

She's also questioning the effectiveness of a prison where the prisoners can summon weapons and call outside on their Irises and I'm just like "shh. just enjoy the prison break storyline"

Roommate wasn't super sure about Ghondor but once Ghondor stopped being super hostile my roommate warmed up to her pretty quick

Ah now she's fully predicting that Shania's going to betray us, but she's also ready for the game to be faking her out because xenoblade is tricky like that

Roommate: "After Dickson I have trust issues."

The party complains so much about having to do prison work it's almost funny. My roommate is just like "please chill out, you've only been in here for three days"

End of chapter thoughts from my roommate: "I'm having a really hard time believing that Mio and Noah are actually dead. I might be in denial; we'll see."

Aww she feels really bad for N realizing that his Mio is dead. She has a lot of sympathy for N overall tbh

Ah yeah she noticed the same thing as I did that the whole "Mio is alive" cutscene is taking place in front of everyone at the Castle with a ton of soldiers watching and everything

Wow the autobuild for arts isn't that good huh. My roommate's been using it for the whole game and we just realized that it won't ensure you have all parts of a combo equipped across the team, no wonder she's been having a rough time of some fights

oc duo ask game: 😇 for nemo and catalina, 👿 for rakesh and vega

😇- What’s their best trait?

for catalina saying that she likes nemo because he "acts nice" or "he's genuine" would be disingenuous; from her perspective its easy and unchallenging to be perfectly "nice" and she's seen the more selfish and disgusting side of very earnest actions pretty consistently (she also tends to look down her nose at people she considers gullible). so for her she likes that nemo is attentive, especially toward her, in a way that does not make her want to claw her skin off or gouge his eyes out, and thus she finds their interactions surprisingly and pleasantly mundane.

nemo was born with a stutter that he maintains thanks to many years of speech therapy only really emerges when hes very nervous; the trouble is that nemo is always quite nervous, especially when he's forced to be around or talk to other people. most people are not particularly patient with his inability to get through a sentence without restarting it partway through, so he really enjoys catalina's patience in that regard, and is amazed by how easily it seems to come to her. he likes that from his end it feels like she's really listening to him and not counting down the seconds until it's her "turn" to speak.

👿- What’s their worst trait?

while vega is correct that rakesh does work himself up over things that are really inconsequential and even nonsensical pretty often (all while being nonchalant about things that should definitely raise his hackles more), her perspective of this flaw is somewhat skewed because he tends to fuss over her especially, sometimes for legitimate reasons, but just as often because he's sticking his nose into her business.

likewise rakesh is also right that vega is also avoidant of admitting when she's wrong about something to the point of it becoming dangerous and insane, but his perspective of her stubbornness is also greatly exaggerated because he actually started out in T.A.R.G.I.T. as her "lab assistant", and is kind of unfairly letting his memories of when she was first working there and also 17 color his judgement of it a little.

I grieve so deeply for those in the Gaza Ministry of Health who took the time out of their lives, facing these horrors, to collect the names and information of those dead.

When people were dropping dead by the dozen in my community during COVID, the chaos that ensued in reporting that process, between state authorities, morticians, obituaries, families struggling to play for their dead was stomach turning.

I was one part in that process, reporting numbers of the sick and dead.

These are people they undoubtedly knew.

How do you force something so cruel onto someone?

Generations of families and memories. Bonds and fondness that they can't fucking get back, and yet our president can deny these people are real, that they exist.

These names and the data attached to them, they were living breathing people, they deserved better in live and they deserve more in death.

As I think many people do, I have a fantasy original that just quietly lives in my head for the last 15 years, and I play with it sometimes, adding different parts depending on what I want to play.

The history of that world started (from the point of view of the order in which I was inventing it) because I thought, what if there were three exiled fellow conspirators (a politician, a general, and a businesswoman) who were all weird about each other; occasionally they also added more vertices to the triangle (the politician got married, the businesswoman fucked his wife, etc.).

The "present era" characters had to try to understand this relationship because unfortunately it was plot-relevant. Generally the plot was about studying history.

the visual inspiration for this was a combination of Frederic William Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs and also Bernardo Cavallino's The vision of St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin

this was supposed to be just a one off illustration to get the thoughts out of my system, but then I started thinking about medieval politics and warfare and plagues and a castle and home as both a place of refuge, a prison, and a tomb, so perhaps they will end up as ex voto characters as well.

you may say, hey! that rosary looks like it has too many beads! it's a fifteen decade rosary, probably. dominicans are really into marian devotions. it works out.

also. spiral style stair cases. oh boy. it was that unexpectedly more difficult than I originally thought it would be to draw. the more I think about it, the less I understand them, even though I had a million photos of the stairs in front of me while I was drawing it.

Ok I checked the script page on the good wiki and I couldn't find anything there, but it's also still incomplete and I don't remember exactly when that cutscene happens. Genuinely if anyone's still reading these liveblogs posts and can help me out I'd appreciate it, my knowledge of 3 isn't as complete as the other games yet lol

what are three of your oc’s favorite hobbies?

nemo enjoys paper crafts, things like origami or pretty simple paper cutting especially because it's something he can do at his desk at work ! he'll use pens/highlighters or other stray office supplies to kind of add decoration or detailing to them from time to time but usually he tries not to get too ambitious with them

nemo is a HUUUGE fan of movies, past just even watching them, he likes to find whatever little bits of behind the scenes trivia he can (although the sources he's getting them from always means theyre extremely carefully curated). he's less invested in like the celebrity aspect of it and is just more awed by the very concept of "movie magic". nemo's favorite genre is horror (creature features especially) which usually surprises most people considering how anxious and easily frightened he is, but knowing all the effort that actually goes into the movie kind of brings him in on all the "playing pretend" in his mind, and he loves getting caught up in it

ok you mightve been a bit justified in being worried about asking bc im trying to think of a third hobby he has. he has a record collection he enjoys but its not something hes particularly passionate about ? like if you went over to his place he would offer to play it for you and then sit there and silence and have no information or deeper opinion on the band or its music other than just saying he likes it and he thinks the records smell good. and then he would apologize for saying that and get all weird and tell you maybe you should go home and then not be able to sleep at night because he cant stop overanalyzing how strange he acted through that whole interaction. where was i going with this. does that count

this was the opening scene for a something I started writing after watching the Manben inverview with Nishi Keiko and thinking back to all the classic shoujo manga I stayed up reading back in the day, like damn that's so true Urasawa Naoki

it's partially a love letter to all the greats of the genre that I read, and also to the late night teleseryses that captivated me over the years lmao. it'd be nice to find the time to tackle it properly as a comic, but I'm having fun working on it recreationally :)

the first character seen is lawrence 'law' valenciano (late 30s), the one with the glasses is cris volante (mid-later 20s). law works at a karinderya, cris is an extremely broke university student.
