yknow what, i posted this as a joke but i've been rewatching aos s1 and actually i think this shows so much about coulson as a person

coulson sees the good in people. even when that person doesn't think there is any good to be seen, coulson sees it.

he doesn't see perfect people. he sees highly flawed people that have the chance to be better, they just need a little help.

like, dudes, i don't even know where to start. i don't know which character to start with!

1-thor: okay so coulson is doing his business dealing with this hammer thing & this blonde dude tried to steal it or whatever & then selvig comes along with a fake id & fake story that's pretty obvious & coulson is just like "alright then." let's thor leave & totally obviously steal a notebook. & someone that was worried thor would actually cause harm wouldnt do that but here we are. & isn't even the slightest bit phased when turns out thor is thor & some robot tried to kill him & leveled the town dude could tell thor wasnt a maniac.

2-jane, darcy, & selvig: okay so these 3 scientists are knowing stuff they shouldnt know quite yet okay coulson takes their stuff & then theyre super strong buddy shows up & selvig shows up with a fake id & fake story & coulson is just like ok yeah let em go but watch them & doesnt mind when they steal back a notebook. thor leaves & coulson is like oh heres all your stuff by the way good luck on the science thing. yeah that doesnt seem suspiciously chill for someone of your occupation

3-bruce: okay so they dont have screen time together but we have a scene of steve asking coulson about bruce & like coulson focuses more on the genius thing than the rage monster thing so like shout out to coulson for that one!

4-steve: continuing on that conversation, steve is obviously shaken up about the waking up after 70 years thing & thinks that he is "outdated" & says he "hopes he's the man for the job." to which coulson is immediately like what do i hear? are you doubting yourself? sir that is not allowed on shield premises, do you hear me? please have some fricking self confidence yes you can do it.

5-loki: okay so obviously this isnt confirmed by canon but cmon you saw my url & the og post you knew what was coming. coulson after being stabbed is somehow the only one that notices that loki's efforts are half hearted. like i could go into the many things that evidence that loki "lacked conviction" and all but i'm tired & lots of posts have already done that. the impressive thing is that only coulson realized. unfortunately he died before that information could be useful. but yeah dude realized something big he was the closest to learn about thanos

6-may: may had been at the desk job for years when coulson showed up. he could tell that may was isolating herself (anyone could she played it very obviously) but he's the only one that tried for so long to help & the only one to succeed to get her out of the isolation. it's a different type of "seeing good in her" it's not like she was evil or anything but he had faith in her and her ability to heal. & i respect that man.

6.5-fitzsimmons: i didnt know what order to put them & i'm tired & dont want to change the numbers. similar to may, he saw "good" in them in that he had a faith that no one else had in them at the time. they're two young shield agents that werent cleared for combat. had no experience. only science. & coulson was like frick yeah i'll take them. always encouraged them & had a complete faith that they could do the impossible science things. also come round s4 & coulson is defending fitz from himself about the framework!

7-daisy: in may's words, "if someone breaks into my place, i wouldn't invite them back, but that's just me." daisy was a criminal pretty much hacking into shield & others but coulson saw her for 1 second & was like yeah no this chick isnt an evil hacker or whatever drugged ward that very minute & invited her to the team. daisy betrays them kinda bc of miles or whatever & coulson is like okay you can stay also yes i'll figure stuff out about your parents. best fricking decisions he's made in his life turns out bc *later seasons* but yeah what may said not just anyone wouldve done it but coulson did bc he saw good in her

8-ward: okay tecnhically this was pre daisy but i dont care. & this part is gonna be controversial but i also dont care. what ward did was unexcusable. but coulson knew about ward's family, while he didnt know about hydra. he saw the trauma. & he def gave ward a chance to grow as a person & learn to work on a team. like coulson saw the possibility of growth. not his fault that ward didnt choose that path. but ward couldve given up on hydra at any minute in the time he was on the bus. they already had a ex rising tide chick on the bus, why not add a ex hydra? he couldve chosen at any minute. not coulsons fault that he never decided to change even after everything.

9-mack & bobbi: i'm putting them together bc it's basically the same story. 2 ex shield agents coulson found & recruited. & they both def were doing what they thought was right. & doing their jobs very well, if i may say so. & yet again coulson gets betrayed by these 2 who are working for the secret other shield. like i said, coulson puts an emphasis on the good of people generally, & obv mack & bobbi are good people

10-fricking hunter: watch the first couple episodes of s2. there is no logical sense why coulson lets hunter stay but he does. he lets this random mercenary that bobbi recommended despite his overall distaste of following orders & the general chaos that follows him. then offers him a permanent job. like idk man if i were coulson i would not be allowing hunter on any missions after s2e1 so like dude mustve seen something in hunter turned out great though hunter was a great asset! really helped in the latter half of s2 & helped fitz in s5!

plus there's probably more people but that's all i'm thinking of this second

but anyway the point of this is:

coulson emphasizes the good in people, & i see that so admirable. like it would be super easy for him be closed off and untrusting bc of his profession. especially after the whole dying and shield being hydra stuff. but man keeps going, having faith in humanity & preferring to hope that people will be good than assume that all humans are awful. i find that so admirable & that is definitely part of his charm. that's why he's likeable. because he believes in humanity & he believes in those around him. he's willing to give second chances and help people become their best selves.

love how we've all decided that coulson immediately knew that loki didnt actually want to invade earth & all but was just as surprised as everyone else when it turned out ward was hydra

one of the most sick things i have realized in the ppl around me who are still catholic, is how much they are plagued with catholic guilt. a girl who won't get surgery bc she believes its punishment for her sins. ppl who are nearly suicidal in their desire for heaven, and since heaven is coming, they do nothing to change their situation. they dont try to improve their lives or others or the planet bc at the end of the day this is a "fallen world" and "heaven is waiting." it is so sick to drill into a persons head since theyre a child that they were born evil, that they need god to fix them, they need god to sustain them, as if it wont affect their mental state at all as adults. my little cousins who have already shown signs of having anxiety about god, like asking if he'll be mad at them/their parents for doing normal, human things. like really being afraid of what that would mean. my opinion and love for this world and its people shifted sp drastically when i realized i could just stop. i could stop being afraid of god. i could stop thinking we all deserved to burn in a lake of eternal fire. who even makes a lake of eternal fire anyway? that very much does not sound like a me problem. when i left the church, i very much still believed in hell, and i very much believed it was a place i would go, and would deserve to go. but i chose it anyway. i chose the eternal torture, because who does a thing like eternal torture? if god would torture me forever, than that wasn't someone i wanted to associate with, consequences be damned. and slowly, i started to see the world differently. i know the world is on fire, and theres a few too many genocides occuring at the moment, and i do truly have it in me to detest forever the people who hurt innocent people. but still, desite it all, despite everything, i think we're good. yes, we do bad things, but at the end of the day, most of us just want to go home, and cuddle our pets/loved ones, and eat a good meal, and look at the stars and dream. we're not so different, and we're not so bad. idk where i was going with all this exactly, but i think the cure to catholic guilt is choosing to believe in the good. catholism says goodness can only come from god, and thats why were damned. but i think we *are* good. even despite all the reasons ppl give me on the contrary. bc i see ppl wish happy holidays to strangers, holidays they dont celebrate themselves, just to see them happy. i see strangers go out of there way to help people every single day. bc most of us understand that we all just want the same things, and are willing to help each other get them. we arent evil, and bad things arent some divine punishment, sometimes things just suck. the cure to catholic guilt, i think, is a love that can outcompete the divine.

I usually dont mind ppl having different interpretations of characters and relationships, but this is just an insult to my boy’s character and his connection to nagi.

Reo may have developed an interest in nagi bc of his talent (and i find the notion of him doing the same thing he hated his family for at the start very interesting btw), but since then he obviously has developed an emotional attachment, and to him, it has to be nagi. he’s met people with even more skill than him in blk but he still hasnt spared them a 1/100 of the attention he gives to his best friend.

ofc i think it was important for them to improve on their own and maybe it was premature of him to go back to devoting himself to nagi so quickly, but i truly believe its bc he understood nagi’s perspective since he “abandoned him” and his true intentions.

the difference in their perspectives is very clear even before they enter blue lock:

at that point winning the world cup was just reo’s dream but even then, to reo, the most important thing was for them to be together until the end (nagi was the one who made him promise that would be the case too !!) , while nagi was content with just going along with him bc he started caring abt him as a person

until they lost to isagi’s team. from that moment, he decided (and was right imo) that they need to do whatever they can, even if they have to take separate paths for some time, to get stronger.

and nagi didnt “lose sight of their og goal” what are they talking about?? nagi literally mentions/thinks about their dream to be the best together every chance he gets?? he even got mad at reo cause he thought his friend was the one who forgot about their dream. he thought he was taking the vital steps to make it a reality and was frustrated reo couldnt see that:

reo felt betrayed because he cared about nagi himself as much as he cared about their dream and thought that nagi used him as a stepping stone to move forward alone, when actually it would be more accurate to say that nagi views everyone except for reo as a stepping stone. (i dont blame reo for this, since even tho nagi tried to communicate that hes doing it for them, he did a terrible job of it).

but during their latest talk reo had already worked on himself and had acknowledged the fact that he was in the wrong for assuming that them being together no matter the cost was the right thing

so when nagi approached him and explained himself a little better this time (boy was shocked when he realised how reo took their separation and put in a little bit more effort lol)

reo finally understood how their desires intertwine now. how can people claim that reo sees nagi as a tool when its more of the other way around; meaning reo sees himself as a tool for making nagi the best striker in the world and he already declared that to Ego before:

plus saying that he and nagi arent friends and they are just using each other is so out of touch with everything we’ve seen so far. reo’s devotion to nagi aside, nagi too cares for reo a lot outside of soccer. even after he left reo, he still got excited to see him and talk to him despite everything; to him it was obvious they would continue to interact no matter which team each of them was on:

the only thing that i wish would happen now is for nagi to apologise to reo face to face instead of only doing it in his own thoughts, and for reo to also talk about why he was hurt. but i feel like they understood each other either way without many words, because in the end, their bond is just that strong.

they now both want to succeed more than they ever have before and have stopped being their complacent selves we met during the first selection. they are both thinking far into the future and not just within blue lock, so whether they keep moving forward together or separated from now on, it will be knowing they are working towards their shared dream.

7. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

jeez its almost easier to answer with what I don't like. There's plenty to like! I like most things! :D

Hoffman: Obviously I like most things we do with this guy, since most of us took a match to his frozen heart and said "thou shalt love again."

In canon this dude is hanging on to one last thread of humanity and the fandom does a pretty good job of mending his ability to feel emotions again, while still keeping him morally dubious. He's not a 100% misunderstood cinnamon roll, and I think most people understand that he is cruel and has a penchant for revenge. He has a bloodlust that maybe, just maybe, the right amount of love and proper support could have saved him from developing.

we are out here saying "I can fix him" but keeping some of the cracks, because the cracks are fun

Strahm: I like when he's given more depth than just being an angry coke-addict. (I actually don't do the coke headcanon. It's a VERY funny joke, but no I don't actually believe he does it.)

It's very easy to see his interrogation meltdown and forget the context and write him off as "crazy," but he didn't do it for no reason? Unfortunately heavily edited down in the theatrical version, he very much breaks down because the intensity of the situation just QUADRUPLED as his partner (who he cares for) was fighting for her life in the hospital, and he still didn't have any leads. too many people forget that.

I think he's probably a very normal, if not slightly hot-headed guy in day-to-day life when lives arent on the line. Perez even says as much in Saw VI.

Amanda: luckily I dont often see things I dont like with her, thank goodness. She is another lost soul who got led down the wrong path, when real support from people with good intentions could have saved her. She also fucks up and makes bad decisions that dig her deeper into the hole, like her own craving for violence and distrust in the jigsaw test process.

God, and her fiery personality, and how she's enthusiastic to take part in the traps but slowly her confidence tumbles down as she watches people scream and struggle and cry out to her for help.

ok at this point im just raving about each character i dont know if these satisfy the question LOL Basically, i just enjoy seeing what aspects of each character people decide to play up for art and stuff. some people like them more evil, some people like them more sympathetic- nobody is wrong, necessarily.

(also soapbox moment but stop saying ppl are reducing characters to 1 trait when you are looking at 1 art which can only realistically depict 1 trait visually at a time lol. art can only possibly be a snapshot of one moment. most people arent reducing anyone and are happy to have in-depth conversations like this if you give them a chance. also if its "all they draw", who cares lol. try not caring so much and scroll? luckily no one has accused ME of doing it, but i see it in every fandom. and i could imagine, for example, someone seeing my blushing Strahms and assume all I care about is objectifying him or something. 21. If you’re a fic writer and have written for this character, what’s your favorite thing to do when you’re writing for this character? What’s something you don’t like?

Hoffman: In my fics, I really enjoyed writing him being in total denial of his feelings, both from his POV with his thoughts, and how badly he hides it from Strahm's POV too. In canon, before going off the deep end, he has a very calm demeanor while he does nothing but spew lies, so its fun to play with that. It's fun making him pretend to only be into casual flings but secretly craves something deeper but feels like he cant have it.

Strahm: Its fun to write his denial too, but his is a bit different. He's got more of a grumpy muttering "why oh WHY do I have to think he's hot??" daily agony that threatens to kill him if he thinks about it too much, but it's dealing constant psychic damage to him throughout the day

Amanda: I havent written her 😭 but if I did, I would hypothetically write her similar to Hoffman, where she has an outward persona that is threatening to crumble at any moment which is shakily masking her true feelings

for context the book has pacific rim style mechas, but instead of being drift compatible or whatever its usually a male pilot and his concubine whose life force he usually drains in order to pilot the thing, but theres a LOT of propaganda that makes girls want to be concubines, or families might wanna send their daughters for the money. im simplifying it a LOT especially cause theres more info u only learn later on as zetian herself finds out but anyway

theres like 1 moment of jealousy that i can remember when li shimin realizes zetian and yizhi have a thing going on but its settled very quickly and they all kiss.

back to the drift compatible thing: at one point in the final battle zetian and shimin need more power and yizhi literally lends them his qi (its extremely rare for a third person to help) and its beautiful and they are so in love and i cant wait for the sequel

dr. death defying - he shows up a bit in the mvs but the pics arent great so im just using comic. hes a dj and has close ties to the fab four, also is vaguely possibly omnipotent? hes a veteran of the analog wars and all around chill great guy. love dr d.

cherri cola - also a dj, has this like. chill uncle energy that matches dr ds very well. really wants to be a dad like so bad. he was a part of the og killjoys with the fab four but didnt die with them and has a little tiny bit of survivors guilt abt that. just a smidge. i like him hes cool

the girl - she doesnt have a name lmao just the girl. very important small child, she's like 6 at the time when the fab four die. her mom was like the leader of the resistance group the killjoys were part of during the analog wars and party poison at least believes that she's going to save them all someday. also the comic panel is her when shes like 16 hence the fact that she looks violently different

the director - shes the head of BLind so like. very evil. but shes also kinda hot so i forgive the capitalism and the war crimes. uhhh other than that there's draculoids which are these guys with the masks

which, as we know, the exile arc fits the description of “ongoing traumatizing experiences” pretty fucking well.  the exile was basically just two weeks of trauma.  for a lot of reasons too, there was dream abusing tommy, tommy being isolated, tommys own depression/suicidal thoughts/bad mindset in general.   this would all be considered a ongoing traumatizing experience(s).  

ptsd is very similar to c-ptsd in how it develops, but ptsd occurs after one singular traumatizing event . (by the way, the event doesnt have to be life or death, it could be something like witnessing or hearing about a shocking event!!!)

symptoms of c-ptsd overlap with ptsd a good lot of the time, due to them both being trauma disorders.  however, there are a few differences.  here r some symptoms of c-ptsd, alot of which are ptsd symptoms that alot ofpeople with c-ptsd experience as well

reliving the traumatic experience

avoiding certain situations 

changes in beliefs and feelings about yourself and others

hyperarousal (jitteriness, being on alert, etc)

somatic symptoms (physical symptoms with no underlying cause)

lack of emotional regulation 

change in consciousness

negative self-perception

difficulty with relationships

distorted reception of abuser

loss of system of meanings

now, i’ll go over which of these fit our boy c!tommy, and how they fit for some of them atleast.  i will only be talking about the things that are a result from c-ptsd, but also c-ptsd works where it coincides with other mental illnesses a person has so.  its also important to note that within a person these symptoms might not stay the same over time, and not everyone who has c-ptsd or ptsd is going to experience it the same.   (so not talking abt how pain affects him after dying in the prison, though that is a clear sign of ptsd) 

reliving the traumatic experience

tommy’s done this with exile a few times, when revisiting logstedshire, when he saw the craters in logstedshire, when visiting dream in prison, when during the disc finale dream dug the hole and told him to put his armour in, etc etc, he’s even described himself as being trembly in the fingers near plain biomes, while visting logsted he mentioned how shaky it made him to be there, and when he visited logsted one time he had an immediate reaction to seeing a hole in the ground that came off as him reliving it. flashbacks come in from sensations during a traumatic event, like sight, feeling, emotion, etc, etc.  it seems like with these he’s experiencing more of a reliving the emotions kind of thing. 

avoiding certain situations 

i was originally not gonna include this one, but thinking about it, he kind of does in a way.   this symptom also includes keeping yourself preoccupied to avoid thinking about it, which is something c!tommy seems to do alot.  with focusing on building the hotel, and doing tasks, or grinding for supplies instead of actually thinking about it.  

changes in beliefs and feelings about yourself and others

c!tommy uh. does this a lot.  a lot of it stems from how during exile tommy was isolated and made to believe no one cared for him, and even if that wasn’t true c!tommy never really got much closure on that.  hes not really trusting ppl that b4 were really close to him, tubbo n ranboo for example

lack of emotional regulation

this can also be described as uncontrollable feelings.  this is the one i’ve wanted to talk about the most i think- because this is really fits c!tommy.  he tends to lash out alot, for example burning the flower c!ranboo gave him, there are a bunch more examples of this that include him yelling at others, that one time when he spleefed c!jack 

negative self-perception

yeah.  theres a few examples of this one, the one that first comes to mind is that time during the green festival where he was talking about how he was worse than everyone he didn’t wanna be (including his abuser, c!dream...) .  theres now when he was building his tower by the prison when he was saying he couldn’t use the cobble because it was too him, and people didnt like the cobble. alot of this i think comes from c!dream making him feel basically worthless in exile :(

difficulty with relationships

  Yeah. um.  Alot for this one!!! The first to come to mind is c!tubbo.  c!tommy and c!tubbos relationship is very very wonky, especially considering recent events with tommy feeling like he is being replaced with c!ranboo.  (which he isnt by the way! he just feels as though, which is a valid feeling for him to have :]) .  another person that comes to mind is c!ranboo.  he’s even mentioned how his and ranboos relationship goes back and forth quite alot.  its not very surprising to see that he has difficulty with relationships especially considering a lot of the reason that the exile affected him so badly was because he felt so alone and was so isolated from his friends.  another thing that comes to mind, is when he made c!sam sign that contract promising hat he’d be his best friend and protect him.  theres most likely way more that can be said here, but this is the first stuff that comes to mind.  

distorted reception of abuser

um... yeah.  this one.  this can also be described as , “ becoming preoccupied with the relationship between you and your abuser. It can also include preoccupation with revenge or giving your abuser complete power over your life. “  which is um.  yeah.  c!tommy.  he’s mentioned how whenever he’s around c!dream he feels like hes conditioned to be his friend (which. yea . he was .).  right after he left logstedshire this was very very prominent, he was the biggest c!dream apologist around (/j), saying things like “dream didnt do anything wrong” and even explaining how he wasnt sure about things when it comes to c!dream, that his mind became flip floppy whenever he thought about him.   right now, hes focused on getting back at c!dream, not fully for revenge, mainly for his friends and how he doesnt want c!dream to go around killing and reviving everyone, but the point still stands.  (this all makes me extra sad because he had gone to the prison the second time in the first place to get closure :(( )

loss of system of meanings

Systems of meaning refer to your religion or beliefs about the world.  This can also refer to getting a strong sense of hopelessness or despair about the world, which as of late mainly c!tommy seems to have.  mainly referencing in his stream where he visited dreams bunker, he was asking what the point was of finding things that made him happy if dream was just going to get out the prison and destroy it.  theres also a few things that also go with this, in one stream while he burnt down ponks lemon tree for sam nook he said  "thats still decaying, but yknow, arent we all." and that one time when he gave that hotel invitation to c!techno he was like “ahahha we could die tomorrow anyway”

its also important to note that, “Any type of long-term trauma, over several months or years, can lead to CPTSD. However, it seems to appear frequently in people who’ve been abused by someone who was supposed to be their caregiver or protector. “ Which is.. fairly accurate in c!tommy’s situation.  c!dream might’ve not been a caregiver or protector necessarily but he was still someone that was looking after him yknow? 

there are most likely more things than what i layed out that show that c!tommy most likely also has cptsd, however this is just the stuff that i thought up :] add to the post if you’d like to!

(also this isn’t saying that c!tommy doesnt have ptsd, he had both ptsd and c-ptsd. also i am not an expert about ptsd, cptsd, or mental health in general, if i got any information wrong let me know)

Hiii, sorry if it's weird to ask stuff like this but do you think you have any advice on what to do when you're way of loving ends up hurting the people around you?

hii anon, its not weird dont worri ^^ i dont kno the context of ur situation so this is my vague advice,i hope its applicable . first you must try to forgive yourself, cus u are trying. even just by asking this, it shows u are a loving person. idk if this makes sense, but your love doesnt hurt ppl- what hurts them is the process of misunderstandings and conflicts that comes w opening urself up to love. it hurts us all, and for many ppl it hurts so bad that they avoid love altogether. we see ourselves in others, when we are put thru trials together, and we see our own weaknesses mirrored back by the other person.. plus+ this is happening to both parties at once,each perceiving the conflict by their own unique lense of the world that has been shaped by their previous experiences.. the pain of feeling misunderstood can send things spiralling, aaah its so incredibly messy to try to love!

so this is why you must forgive yourself. if you can forgive the parts of you that hurt to see mirrored by others, at least when misunderstandings happen there's one of you that is more likely to respond better. which ultimately begins to create new feedback loops in the relationship, however small, it is how new cycles begin. this is how trust is built. so i think self forgiveness is a good place 2 start.

if things just rly arent clicking w the ppl in ur life and you've tried all you can.. sometimes its the best thing to apply distance, altho it can be so hard to let go. it doesnt mean u have to leave their life forever or something drastic. maybe something in the dynamic just has to shift. giving someone space and loving them from afar is a noble thing. its a lot healthier than smothering.

pray for the people in ur life! prayer for others is the most powerful kind of prayer there is. its a sincere act of love, to sit alone and think about the ones u cherish, asking for them to be protected and happy and nurtured. no one asked you to do that, you just do it, because you love them. i believe thats how you like, send ppl holy exp or something. i don't know how to explain what i believe without typing out a novel. just send people love, especially when they dont know ur doing it. also, when ur sad n anxious, it can help a lot to occupy ur mind n reshift ur focus to a loving place. it feels so good aaahhh it feels so warm..

all im rly trying to say is...love does not hurt! being vulnerable hurts. confronting urself hurts. challenges hurt. growth hurts, letting go hurts. but #LOVE is what makes the #PAIN worth it....so LOVE no matter what anon ToT send out unconditional love into the world cus it will only get bigger and bigger, if everyone could do this, the world would be healed... SO i just finished wonder egg priority and i think that with confidence i can say it has been one of my favorite animes like... ever ?? and not even from hyperfixation or obsession over it just... its so fucking real yet so simple in a way that i havent rlly seen shown in any other shows you feel ??

but first i wanna talk about how sexy the art and animation is real quick... HOMIE ITS SO GOOD LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT JUST... serotonin... the characters are all so unique and iconic and fun but not over the top in their designs yknow ??? they seem like regular every day girls but they stand out and theyre all sO CUTE !!!! also i love how the style is like this soft bubbly slice of life lookin stuff with bright happy colors and the most beautiful scenes you could find but they also have the SICKEST fight scenes complete with whimsical animal helpers and terrifying villains and crazy weapons unique to each character. and the animation. god DAMN shawty i am obsessed with everything in this show. i might make a post solely about the art later lol bc i wanna get into the other stuff.

so the themes in the show right ?? it starts just as this cute lil magical girl kinda deal but within the first episode we see that like.. oh damn... thats kinda heavy... tbh i was a little shocked and thought about stopping bc yknow bad mental health BUT i was so intrigued that i had to keep going and i am SO GLAD that i did. because this show just so beautifully discusses all these heavy topics in such an eloquent and artistically expressive way. and also like, , the juxtaposition of the charming childlike vibe with bright colors and 14 yr old girl protagonists against the dark themes of suicide and so much else,, i think is just perfect. bc a lot of heavy animes are more of the seinen genre and have some middle aged dude as a protag or make the entire color palette dim or offer little relief to the pain of these heavy themes right ?? but NO not wonder egg bitches B) because these problems arent just things that ppl face later in life or just problems that need to be talked about among adults or the edgy seinen watching squad,, these are REAL problems that face people of every age, gender etc and i think its awesome that wonder egg addresses that. some may cringe at the thought of their high schooler watching animes that discuss sexual harassment, suicide, abuse, self harm, eating disorders etc,, but in reality it is the most comforting thing i have ever come across and is basically jsut free anime therapy. because not only does wonder egg present these themes to the viewers as something real that happens to all kinds of people (making said people feel heard in a way that maybe they hadnt before), but it also makes sure to vanquish all of these forms of trauma. and the way the trauma is vanquished isnt always beautiful and it isnt always just magically gone with a poof. the struggles of overcoming or living with that sort of thing are shown in such a real and relatable way that addresses every hardship trauma survivors have to go through. and i just. god i cry bro. 

oh m y GOD and the lgbtq+ rep in this show ?? like shawty... as soon as i saw episode one i was picking up on some gay/lesbian themes but then again im sapphic and project that a lot so i tend to see that sort of stuff like... everywhere... but NE WAYS... episode ten made me FUKCING CRY BRO LIke i cant believe there was a whole trans character with a whole trans pride hoodie like LKGHKDGH my heart is just so.. so fucking full thinking about him. bc like yeah i know there are trans characters in anime but i feel like theyre always very ambiguous about actually being trans or not or erased or portrayed as a harmful stereotype or theyre constantly misgendered and still refered to as their assigned gender at birth and i hate it. HOWEVEr... Kaoru.. *chefs kiss* it was so amazing to see a character straight up say “yeah im trans” in such a casual yet powerful way bc i personally have never seen that before. and i love love loved how he went into his backstory and talked to momoe about gender bc i think thats what she rlly needed and that it helped her find herself and it makes me so happy oh my god,, and the way they talked about it never seemed forced or like it was the focal point of his existence yknow ?? like yeah he existed to help momoe overcome some of her trauma but he also just existed to be HIM yknow ?? also... personally, i headcanon momoe as a trans girl even though i dont remember it being explicitly stated plus the school scenes of her and stuff would seem like they suggest otherwise ??but,,, SHAWTY THE AMOUNT OF SUBTEXT and her complicated relationship w gender is... something i feel like a cis girl would not go through so harshly yknow ?? with all of the questioning and feeling detached from femininity or feeling like ppl dont see her as an actual girl and only like her as a guy or for her masculine traits,,, but dont take my word on this bc i myself am a cis girl but that was just my take on it as someone in the lgbtq+ community trying to educate myself on the transgender community :) either way,, wonder eggs portrayal of momoe and kaoru and the way that momoe becomes so passionate about expressing herself the way she wants to as a girl is just... good lord im gonna cry its so perfect,,,.so ... i just love this show way too much. i also am honestly super lost about the relationship btwn acca and ura-acca ?? bc i was gonna mention ura-acca as a canonically gay guy bc when i was watching i interpreted ep 11 as him being in love with acca and being jealous of Azusa (bc i mean,, they lived together (i swear to god there was only one bed in that apartment) and had a daughter together and def loved each other and also when Frill said they were husbands and then when ura-acca said he wasnt attracted to azusa but he was def jealous of their relationship ??) but then i saw somewhere that theyre brothers ?? which would make sense ig since they look kinda similar and accas daughter called ura-acca “uncle”.. but at the same time its ANIME SO THEY ALL LOOK SIMILAR and referring to gay couples as siblings is an EXTREMELY common euphemism soooo... IM JUST LOST HERE... but yeah i tried doing research and found different things so i cant say anything for sure >:( however,,, if they are canonically a lil fruity for each other... when frill refered to acca as ura-accas husband i imploded dude you never hear that sort of wording in anime.. but if theyre related i am so sorry. 

god this is so much longer than i planned it to be oops but i also love the theme about like.. relying on friends to help carry your weight but at the same time not becoming completely dependent on those friends and using their support to learn how to love yourself and rely on yourself yknow ?? bc that is exactly what healthy friendships look like. bc i think ai sort of had a codependency thing goin on with koito maybe ?? but now she has a whole squad of funky friends that are so so different but all struggle with different kinds of trauma and although they fight over it, they always get through it with each other together. and they push each other no matter what to be the best versions of themselves and they teach other that getting hurt is okay because theyre always gonna be there to pick up the pieces no matter what happens. they can give each other space when they need and adapt to meet each others needs but theyre always able to balance it out with their own needs and thats such a beautiful thing in friendships especially at their age like damn i wish i had that maturity when i was 14 but no all i had was depression. another thing is that through these friendships you get to see all the different sides of each girl; you get to see them being strong or a shining light to their friends when theyre hurting but you also get to see them being hurt and weak and allowing themselves to be on the receiving end of the comfort. their friendships allows them to have weaknesses but it also allows them to highlight their strengths and thrive off of each others. I LOVE FRIENDSHIP DUDE

next i wanna briefly mention some of the themes connected to suicide that ive noticed. a big one is the survivors guilt that ai feels once koito is dead. several times she screams that she wishes she couldve gone with koito and she dreams of a “perfect world” where they committed a double suicide. one of the main reasons for her troubles is that she blames herself for koitos death and feels like it should be her thats dead... but at the same time she feels like too much of a coward to do anything now that koito is gone. she just has all these complex and contradicting feelings that wear away at her in ways that ppl that havent gone through the suicide of a loved one could never imagine. a lot of the times when things like this are portrayed in media i feel like its more in a way thats meant to guilt trip those that have taken their own lives and paint suicide as this selfish sin thats unforgivable but... not only does wonder egg reject that idea and instead portray it as a heartbreaking tragedy with,,, so so many terrible reasons, but it focuses on the feelings of ai separate from koito without blaming her in any way. not once did i feel like the show antagonized koito or that ai blamed koito for doing any of this, but they simply mourned her loss and touched on ais reaction towards the event but separate from koito herself if that makes sense. and i think that discussing survivors guilt without painting koito as the bad guy is something so beautifully done in wonder egg that can really resonate with those that have lost a loved one to suicide and have struggled with these same things.

okay i think this is the last thing ill mention,,, but HOMIE THE PARALLEL UNIVERSE BIT AT THE END. I AM. OBSESSED. i am such a whore for anything about the multiverse okay n e ways...,, not only did this make a super epic trippy ending of season one and add a little bit more magical girl whimsy to the show,, but it had such a powerful message. from the perspective of og ai,, finding out that you killed yourself in another world is... i mean its definitely not a surprise but at the same time it rlly makes you think how close og ai herself couldve been to that point and what decisions led her out of that dark place in her life. if i were in her shoes i would be terrified and id cry bc the thought of going back to such a dark place and actually going through with something like that is my worst fear and probably something that ai fears too. but at the same time,,, think from the perspective of ai two !!! like yeah its true that theres this awful terrible version of ai that dies but theres also a whole version of ai that is a superhero magical girl fighting off monsters to save countless ppls lives !! and she has a badass lizard and a gang of awesome friends !!! at first i was worried that ai two would be jealous of og ai and compare herself to her and feel inferior but like.. THEYRE LITERALLY THE SAME PERSON AND CAPABLE OF THE SAME THINGS !!! and ai two realized that !! just within the span of one episode, she went from the version of ai who took her life,, to the version of ai jumping in front of a friend to take a bullet for them and save their life. and that just inspired THE SHIT OUT OF ME. i think that ai was sent another version of herself to sort of beat her own worst enemy yknow ?? those doubts and fears that shes no good or that shes that same bystander from episode one and that she hasnt changed at all. but getting to interact with her parallel self and see her grow was just what she needed to realize that while yeah sometimes the worst thing can happen and things can be terrible but on the other hand sometimes the most wonderful thing imaginable can happen because she has the power to do either. 

so im gonna go ahead and stop rambling bc i got all my thoughts out that i wanted to for this post :D but yeah lol i might make another if i feel like it sometime. long story short: this show is perfect and it is going on my favorite of all times.

Hi, I saw your post about unreality trigger warnings, and I was wondering if you could give some pointers on what sort of things should be tagged as such. I'd like to help anyway, but having an unfortunately severe dissociative disorder myself, I take the importance of avoiding triggers very seriously. Sorry if you receive this question a lot, and thanks for the answer in advance.

i haven't received this question before, and don't worry, i love getting asks! it's really nice of you to take the time to ask me a question /gen. dissociative disorders can be really hard,

/warning in advance that this will explain some unreality triggers/

some of the main ones are things that you would see on blogs like posts-from-a-funnier-timeline, which, btw, does a great job at tagging unreality. so posts that are completely made up but presented as if they were a truth are usually something that should be tagged. for example, a false announcement like "i cant believe [person/group] said that [false statement]" or "so sad that [person/group] did [something they didnt do]". this is because ppl with dissociative disorders and psychosis already can have a hard time being able to tell the difference between what is reality and whats not, and this makes it more confusing.

- any posts that are like "you're in a coma" or "this is a dream". this is triggering mainly for derealization.

- posts where the OP claims they have gotten this post specifically to the reader, ie "we are trying to reach you through this meme". often related to derealization and persecutory delusions.

- posts claiming that an event didnt happen, especially ones like "the world ended in [insert year], everything after has been imaginary". most recently, the "2020 was fake" meme.

- false confirmation of conspiracy theories like "cant believe that the government just told us [insert something here]". this usually can trigger persecutory delusions.

- the "you're finally awake, that fall looked really bad" meme.

- claims that things like thought projection is real, such as the meme that goes like "i'm psychic blogginf about [x], so if you're thinking of [x], that was me"

- posts that claim the OP and/or the reader have some sort of ability, relatiosnhip, etc.

- memes about like "the fbi agent reading my ao3 history", things suggesting that OP or the reader is specifically being targeted.

im not saying these memes cant be funny to many ppl without mental illness - i like some of them when im in a good headspace too! but it's necessary to tag as a trigger, thats all. yeah, it might make them less funny to your mentally well neurotypical audience or whatever, but please consider those with these more stigmatised disorders.

some things you probably dont have to tag with unreality are things like sarcasm (maybe use tone tags if you're concerned!), posts discussing mental health issues like psychosis or dissociation (the disorders arent unreal!), the fact someone was lying if you're just talking about someone lying, etc.

if you wish to tag a post like this one here which is not unreal itself but instead discusses unreality, think of using "tw unreality mentions", "delusion tw" or "derealization tw", so that people can still filter out these posts and also know that the post itself is not unreal if they come across it.

this list is by no means exhaustive, but hopefully will give a bit of an idea of what to tag as unreality. hope this helps!
