Watching the Beatles in 64 vs the Beatles in Get Back gives me the same sad feeling as watching Fearless Taylor vs Rep/Lover Taylor. It's watching that little spark of joy, hope, and innocence just completely gone from the eyes, being replaced by cynicism, bitterness, and defeat, and yes, in part that's what happens when you become an adult but also fame really is the worst thing that can happen to a human being, huh

what exactly happened between VM and Marina? is she really a villain who stabbed them in the back or is there more to that story??

what it came down to was Marina passively not supporting VM going into Sochi and putting more energy and thought into DW instead

there's a lot of backstory that involves Marina and Igor falling out and Igor being fired. there's the VM/DW rivalry for that whole quad and the way DW was winning over them from the 2012 season on. there were Tessa's injuries. and different rumors and theories as to why Marina might have supported DW over them that i won’t go into bc idk what’s fact

to me, the clearest thing you can point to that says Marina did abandon VM was Seasons vs Scheherazade

Marina gave DW a program that could win the Olympics- Meryl and Charlie couldn't have asked for a better vehicle to go for gold. and while VM skated Seasons beautifully, just gorgeous, the program is nobody's favorite. she gave them Mahler when she wanted them to win, and for Sochi, she didn't help them with their free

i don't think Marina's lack of interest was the whole picture - because

they had a spectacular OD, and they were robbed. watch DALD and DW's My Fair Lady back to back, and someone pls explain how DW scored higher. the ISU used VM's as a model for the Finnstep the season it was incorporated into the RD. so there was this bs too

but yeah, a team is putting their career into their coaches's hands - all the heart, sweat, blood - literally in this case - the team invests into their skating- so it's a precious trust - for Marina to leave them hanging, not giving them her best while taking their money and the title of coach of the reigning OGM, working with them daily knowing she wasn't giving them her best - that does make her a villain

I just consider comments the currency you pay for the free work an author is putting out personally so it seems like a no brainer to me to give people a comment when they post something you like. Even a simple this is great I liked it can make their day.

Easier format is. Hi I was reading this and liked X. I can’t wait to see what happens about Y. <if you have questions about things you didn’t understand put them here> <Any other amusing anecdotes here>

So Hey I just thought I’d check this out and I loved it. X was so funny and I liked the banter they had. I can’t wait to see if they manage to ask out Y. I can understand the desire to only read finished stuff but you’re going to inadvertently contribute to a lot more of it when authors just give up on fics cause well no one said anything to them while it was being written.

If I wanted no interaction until the story was done I’d just write and publish books the normal way. I’m writing fanfiction because I want to share and geek out with other fans.

Give me your off the wall theories! Give me your favorite lines, or most hated characters. I want to talk about all of it.

Just don’t give me your silence, or I’ll assume I’m not wanted. 

not reading wips feels anti-fanfiction to me. and i don't mean that in a "so you're a bad person if you don't read them" kinda way. do what you want. but i also feel, that you are completely missing the point. with fanfiction you're supposed to come along for the ride. the epic highs and lows of highschool football. the comment sections. the conversations. the theories. the "sorry i didn't update last week i was abducted by aliens and then my cat got stuck in a tree." LIKE. if you just want a story that's fully finished and polished go to a bookstore. fanfic is an EXPERIENCE. and ALSO. participating in the process is part of the way you make fanfic writing worth while. it's part of how you thank authors. like why would anyone write fanfiction if no one was going to interact with them until it was done? it again feels like a way that fanfiction is being eaten by consumer culture. you're waiting for your product. but this is supposed to be a club. you don't turn up to drama club like "where's my play bitch?" NO ma'am. we're supposed to paint these cardboard trees together. ok. i may have lost control of this metaphor. BUT YOU GET IT.
