“(Y/n), I have a question to ask you.”

You turn around to see your boyfriend, James, standing behind you, arms folded behind a back so straight and tense you’d think he was carved from stone. “James, honey why are you so stiff? You’re not at work any more, loosen up.” You laugh, but his mouth tightens. It’s not out of anger…

  Is he nervous?

“James?” You ask “Is everything okay.”

He nods, shifting his feet “Yes,” he tries to smile, but it’s still to tense to be casual. “There’s just something important I wanted to ask.”

Now you were starting to get nervous. “Well, ask away.”

He takes a breath “(Y/n), I-”

“Hold it, Jimmie” You and James turn to see a certain ginger haired man stroll into the room.

You smile “Torchie! Welcome home!”

He winks “Hey, baby.” He turns toward James “Dearest, thought you could beat me to it, eh?”

James sighs “I wasn’t trying to exclude you, I merely thought it would best to do this separately.”

“Yeah, well where’s the fun in that?”

This is getting confusing, you step forward and get their attention “Okay, one of you better tell me what’s going on.”

“I told you, I-” James is cut off by Roman.

“Our beloved James here was going to beat me at being the one to propose, and i’m not exactly one to come in second.”

“Roman!” 

“What?”

“You can’t just give it away like that!”

“Our partner asked us a question, I had to answer.”

You have a hard time finding your voice “James…”

Both men turn to you.

“You… were going to propose?”

He sighs, but there’s a smile on his face “I was getting to that.” He brings his arms out from behind his back and holds out a small box. He flicks it open and inside is a simple, yet classy, silver ring. 

You can’t help but bring a hand to your mouth as you stare at it “Oh…”

Roman let’s out a puff of air “It’s nice, but mine’s bigger.”

Roman reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out what must be a very expensive ring, a gorgeous red and gold band lined all around with gems. One particularly big and shiny stone sits on top, held in place by an elaborate swirling replication of golden vines.

James frowns “Where did you get that?”

Roman grins “Jewelry store, where else?”

“Yes, but did you obtain it legally-”

“No comment.” Roman quickly turns to you, ring out stretched “So, (y/n), light of my life, dearest one, doll face, all that, what do you say?”

You look at your boyfriends, each presenting you with a ring that reflects them so well. You rush forward and pull both of them toward you into a hug. “Yes, of course I say yes! I love you both so much!”
