Welcome to another installment of Let’s Read Some $#!7 (LRSS)! In sum, the purpose of these videos is to introduce educational resources regarding the creation of video games, to promote literacy, to provide world-building tools for creatives, to provide books for escapism, and/or to get banned books into people’s view and whatever I feel like reading aloud at the time.

They go as follows: 1. Read the summary on the back of the book (if applicable). 2. Read the “Forward”, “Preface”, and “Acknowledgments” (if applicable). 3. If there is no “Introduction”, read [part of] the first chapter.

Today, I read PORTIONS of 2 books:

More Than Meets the Eye is the 10th book in the Kendra Michaels series from the Mother/son team of Iris and Roy Johansen. "Serial killer James Michael Barrett agrees to a plea deal at his murder trial. He leads a group of FBI agents and local police to the site where he buried his last victim. As agents start to dig, they hit something metallic. There's a large explosion that kills Barrett and most of the agents. Soon there are murders very similar to the way Barrett killed his victims. Kendra Michaels is brought in to help find this new killer. She agrees to be helped by the only survivor of Barrett's attacks. But the killer has other plans for them both." If you're not familiar with Kendra - She was blind for the first 20 years of her life. She had a groundbreaking procedure that restored her sight. But her other senses remain super sharp. This allows her to see things and recognize things that others miss. She does that often in this book also but there is less of that in this story. This is more of a police procedural. And the way leads are followed is that Lynch "knows a guy" and gets information that way. (It happens that way a lot. Feels like a writer shortcut.) Previous books have all been fast-paced with terrifying killers. Not this one. It doesn't flow like the others. I attribute part of that to the plot device used. No spoilers - it is a different take on serial killers. I appreciate when authors try something new, but it seems awkward here. And it makes the story drag. If you're a Kendra Michaels fan or if you are looking for a new take on fictional serial killers you would enjoy this one. I was just introduced to this book series recently and I listened to the audiobook of the first one while driving for work out of town this past week. THE FACE OF DECEPTION by Iris Johansen, read by Laurel Lefkow. This series currently has 28 books in it and another 3 book series that comes off of it. Eve Duncan is a forensic sculptor that helps to identify the dead by their skulls. Her own daughter murdered and her body never found, this is a personal way to come to terms with her own nightmare. Her most recent case has her reconstructing a skull nobody was supposed to ever see again and someone is determined to make sure she doesn’t live to tell about it. I plan to read through the rest of them but unfortunately my library only has about five random books from this series as audiobooks but they seem to have them all as ebooks so I’ll switch between the two. It’s really good and I highly recommend it. 5 stars! I didn’t realize it until after I was finished, but there’s no bad language, blood and gore, or romance. Those things don’t bother me but I know some prefer books without those things so I can recommend this one to them. Another awesome read from iris Johansen and Roy Johansen!!! Kendra Michaels is one of the best characters in fiction! In this new read we find out more about the doctor who gave her sight.Dr Charles waldridge. After coming to see kendra he disappears and kendra knows that something's not right.so with help from the hot Adam lynch and a PI Jessica mercado who is one bad ass chic its a race to find Dr waldridge and it looks like the night watch project is behind his disappearance and the deaths of some of the people involved in this organization. I love this mother son team,their books are always a trilling roller coaster read!!! Can't wait for the next book in this series!!! The heat just keeps getting hotter with kendra and Adam!!! I love this bad boy!!!
