An eerie photo taken a few years back during some wildfires. Which ones? I can't remember. There have been so many bad summers recently that it's really difficult to keep track.

Talking about that iPhone 6 though, it has a great front camera. Looks like I'm not ugly after all, I just have had shitty front cameras that distorted my facial features!
Jokes aside, I knew I was pretty and that it was just my cameras fault that I didn't look pretty in photos but this feels good anyway

Back on Form and Ready to Create!
I’m thrilled to report that I’m finally free of that pesky sore throat that had been bothering me. It’s always a relief when your voice feels strong again, especially when podcasting is part of your routine. Thankfully, I’ve been able to keep The Angry British Conservative running without a hitch, as I always schedule episodes in advance. That bit of foresight certainly paid off this time!
On another exciting note, you might recall from a recent post that I ordered the DJI Osmo Mobile 6. The good news is that it’s set to arrive this Friday! I’m genuinely looking forward to diving into some creative projects with it.
My iPhone 16 Pro is already a fantastic tool for capturing stunning photos, and pairing it with the Osmo Mobile 6 will elevate things to another level. I am certainly gonna make use of my 1TB storage space. I can’t wait to explore its capabilities for both my side blog, TMC’s Gazette Photoblog, and my vlogs on my YouTube channel, TMarsh-Connors.
Photography has always been a passion of mine, and I’m itching to test this new gear out on some of my favourite themes—perhaps some macro shots of winter landscapes or cityscapes lit up by festive lights. And as for vlogging, I’ve been brainstorming ideas for content that will feel fresh and engaging for my audience.
It’s moments like these that remind me how much I enjoy balancing different creative outlets. Whether it’s podcasting, blogging, photography, or vlogging, each one allows me to express a different side of myself. I’m lucky to have platforms to share my thoughts and creations.
Stay tuned for updates on the Osmo Mobile 6, and feel free to drop me a line with ideas or suggestions for photography subjects or vlog topics.
I am off to bed now it's 4.21am here in the United Kingdom.
PEACE!

Rugose Stag Beetle - Sinodendron rugosum
No insects were harmed in the making of this video. The finger visible was just gently poking. Today's post marks the 6 year anniversary since this blog's inception! Thank for you, dear reader, for 6 wonderful years of insect photography, research and appreciation. And thank you to my friends, family and followers for your support and contributions. This post is representative of that, and how the reach of this blog extends further than ever, with many unique and interesting species to find and enjoy on this blog (and my YouTube Channel as well) from Toronto and other regions of Canada. Cheers to many more great years on the horizon, with lots more insects to share with everyone.
With that excellent horn on its face and its well-armored shell, this insect could easily be mistaken for a Scarab Beetle (of the family Scarabaeidae). I was hopeful that my dear friend had sent me some variety of Squamish Rhinoceros Beetle, but its profile didn't quite match other horned Scarabs of similar stature (they tend to be more heavily armored and bulky). The pebbling on the wingcase is quite prominent, which led to the confirmation of this insect's identification. As it turns out, this Beetle is one of a variety of horned Stag Beetles (of the family Lucanidae). The two Beetle families aren't that far apart in terms of relation (both are under the Superfamily of Scarabaeoidea), and the males of both family branches use large horns or mandibles to fight against rival males to secure mates (females lack a facial weapon). As such, this specie of Beetle relies on its bulk to keep it stable and its horn to flip rivals over. Of course, there's much more to worry about in the wilderness after emerging from wood as an armored adult. Despite the integrity of its armor, it doesn't protect against everything in the insect world. The Ants scurrying around this Beetle were definitely probing for a vulnerable spot of the underside, but the Beetle moved along, seemingly undeterred.
Video was recorded in Squamish on June 12, 2024 with an iPhone 12.

Welcome!
In this blog I post my original photos, and the very occasional reblog. All original posts are my work, unless otherwise stated. All reblogs are not my work.
I try to keep all my photos to London and the immediate environs, such as short trips that I start on foot or bike from within London (just so I can include Epping in this). My photos from outside of London may mostly be found at @eternalwandering.
Prior to Easter 2024, I tried to post as close to the time I took the photos as possible, but since then, I've given up, and I've just posted as and when I've felt like it.
I currently use a Canon EOS 50D and an iPhone 11 Pro, but in the past I have also used an iPhone X, an iPhone 6 Plus, and a Moto X Force (Droid Turbo 2 for those of you state-side, although it's pretty unlikely that anyone will know about this phone). My Canon in fact just turned 15, which is an incredible amount of time, and I've done things with it, gone places with it, that were beyond my wildest imaginings when I first got it on my first steps into photography.
I do not currently have a particular visual language, I just take whatever takes my fancy, and then process it mostly at another time with another frame of mind. I do however like the interplay of light and shadows, and what they can do. I'm not fond of shooting people or other moving live creatures, but I do it occasionally.
Lastly, to any porn blogs/spam bots: I respect the hustle, and I think the world would be better with a lot more love (and kinks) in it, so you are welcome to follow my Tumblrs if you wish. On the other hand, if you try to message me and ask me for personal information or anything unrelated to the content of my Tumblr, I'm afraid I will have to report you as spam. So please don't.
PS: If anyone has any good theme recommendations that go well with my photos, I welcome suggestions!

Me tonight with my piece, Petal, which I'd shot on my iPhone 5s in 2014, at the opening reception of the photography exhibition Click at The Art Center Highland Park. 📷 Love that they hung my photo in this alcove right by the wine 😄🍷 If you missed today's event, the show runs through April 6. And if you're lucky, you can also pick up a copy of my brand new zine in the Gift Shop! I dropped off 5 books and immediately it was down to 4—thanks to artist Diane Ponder who bought one! Congrats on being the first in-person customer of LAMINATOR Vol. 1! // (c) Jenny Lam 2024
