I’m really excited to launch a new acrylic pin for EDS warriors! While recovering from being unwell for a while this autumn, I’ve worked with a pin manufacturer to make the first of a limited edition series of acrylic and wooden pins 💖 There are 20 in this series, and I’ll definitely order some more if these do well(!) 💖✨🥄✨🌈 Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is the name for a group of rare inherited conditions that affect connective tissue. EDS can be a complicated chronic disease that is both extremely painful and life changing. I’m kind of obsessed with this sparkly brave little pin. I’m the kind of person who tends to soldier on and doesn’t talk too much about all my spoonie symptoms to others (not healthy I know, maybe it’s a British thing? 😅). But this pin is one of 2 (the lovely brain fog one) that I tend to wear now, just to feel like, yeah - I’ve done amazing to have even gotten out of bed with an arthritis flare this morning... or to be up even and functioning just a little the night after passing out with pain and having a seizure due to stomach blockage 🙃😳🙃💖 Us spoonies are just blooming awesome with all the things we endure on a daily basis 💪🏾✨💖🌈 And that’s why this stylish little pin is great for those days when coping admirably is the most awesome thing you do... no matter how many spoons you have (or don't have...🙃✨🥄💜). Dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to describe several different medical conditions that cause a malfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System. The Autonomic Nervous System controls the "automatic" functions of the body that we do not consciously think about, such as heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, dilation and constriction of the pupils of the eye, kidney function, and temperature control. People living with various forms of dysautonomia have trouble regulating these systems, which can result in lightheadedness, fainting, unstable blood pressure, abnormal heart rates, malnutrition, and in severe cases, death.
