So, elephant in the room. Most of this episode was setting stuff up for the future which was cool but wow. I thought this was gonna be longer but no that was just a montage. I also thought they were gonna focus more on the future guardians but nope.

Awww Amanda and Rudy reconciled, how nice. I'm sure this relationship isn't gonna end in a particularly fucked up scenario where one of them becomes a genocidal maniac. That would be craaaaazy.

My prediction is that the Invincible War is probably gonna be the end of the next season, either ending it on a cliff hanger or just doing what they did here and covering it in one episode. As much as I would love it to be the plot of the latter half of season 3 or season 4 it was so damn short in the comics, so it's probably gonna be like an episode and a half at best. The setup will probs be longer but the actual event no. Either way, we'll probably be seeing more Rex next season haha...

And of course I am always delighted to see even a moment of my boy. Craig.

i think it's always so good when they do that, like.... the way they make you MISS the character, not just emotionally but in every other way. The way you can feel the gameplay change in their absence, the way you see just how much you want them here. Like begging for their special attack to come and realizing it never will. Or picking up weapons for them later and not being able to give it to them.

it's just so efficient to really tie the loss on a gameplay way and ff7 does it so well (if only because it was the game that really brought this idea forward once it was brought in the west, Aerith's death is one of the most iconic death in video game history because of that)

but god. Esp with how much of ff7 is about loss and grief (to me at least) it is just so efficient to really make you grief in the little ways.

you'll notice every shot is composed in a way where it stands out where she is supposed to be in the group shots. You miss her at every turn. You'll never know happiness ever again-
