here's my initial sketch just cuz :)

We as a society don't talk enough about "Rebirth" period.

The musical arrangement, the ambience, the way is transitions from a slow magical instrumental in the first seconds to the vocal part is perfection on its own.

Its the type of music I've grown hearing in many video games or very old cartoons where our hero is introduced bathed in light (so that we know its HIM). And having seen and understood what Jimin portayed and showed us through 'FACE' and how it ended with "Set me free Pt.2" proclaiming his FREEDOM from darker times on to better ones.

From a prison of darkness on to the light...

And then we get the live mv with Jimin walking in, looking majestic bathed in light, and standing (literally) on top of the world.

(listen... if I had been an atheist and you showed me this clip and told me this is what angels look like I would've convert in a second)

I also want to point out how much I loved that despite his hair being "blonde" it still carried these faded shades of black (shedding the darkness and embracing the light).

And then the magic begins.

From the moment the vocals begin, carrying out a story of reaching out to a purpose, a meaning, a LOVE that keeps you going and wanting to stay close. There is beauty and harmony with every verse.

Nigel Baker on youtube said about "Rebirth" that: "Rebirth is such a beautiful opening to MUSE, Rebirth and like MUSE are beautifully married together. I don't know how to explain it, its like the perfect intro to MUSE because it sets the mood for MUSE--"

And many keep mentioning the part where he sings about "Some day when that door opens---" because they're comparing it in a half-literal and half-metaphorical term to Jimin leaving and returning from his MS.

But for me its that fragment he sings after the high notes while singing "--to you". The one that says:

"White clouds The wind passing by Floating petals It feels like it's been waiting just for us"

I love this part in particular because of how the music is flowing with the words. Like coming down from those high notes and then not quite landing back to earth, but remain floating, or rather flowing.

Because that's what time does, it keeps flowing without stopping. We can have many bad days, many dark moments or situation and feel like we're "stuck", but time keeps moving, the seasons keep changing one after another.

There will always be Spring right after the coldest Winter, and an Autumn after the hottest Summer.

We can always get better days, we just have to wait them out patiently.

OH MY GOD JIMIN......i did not expect such an upbeat feel good lovely song ???? this song was definitely written with a glittery pen no one can convince me otherwise. and the part where he goes "with you" has me in goosebumps fr! truly a warm way to welcome the rest of the album ♡

interlude : showtime

i kinda knew it was part from the sgmb music video but i still love the instrumentals !! i also love how the carnival/circus sound was also in the beginning in face off and is still here in muse,,,, idk i just think if anyone can pull it off its him

Don’t Ask (别问)

Author: 榆鱼 (Yuyu)

Summary: Real world is infested with “zombies,” which are people who can only answer with yes or no. These zombies once tried to invade the home of the protagonist Lin Jia in order to eat his pet cat, Tusi. But Tusi turns out to be no ordinary cat. Seeing Lin Jia being all too willing to throw him out to the zombies, Tusi pulled Lin Jia into the Fish Belly (the unli flow).

Review:

The exposition was different from most in the unli flow genre, so I thought it was gonna be good. However, the first instance was such a drag. But since unli flow first arcs are often terrible, I thought I’d stick with it for a while coz maybe it’d get better.

And plot-wise, it did get better! We learn more about Tusi and his motivations, and we now have a clear overarching plot to follow. The reveal on who the male lead actually is was also a welcome twist in the genre. But alas, despite the good ideas, the novel suffers from bad writing.

Almost every scene was full of info dumps, as if the author thought the readers are idiots who needs every little detail spoon-fed to them just to understand the story. The instances themselves are also boring.

Fake Love (假情)

Author: 邊棠 (Bian Tang)

Summary: Just another dog blood novel where the infatuated protagonist shou breaks away from the sugar daddy gong.

Review: Nothing special about it, so I dropped it.

Raising my Fulang in a New Life (重生养夫郎)

Author: 岛里天下 (Dao Li Tianxia)

Summary: Gong is reborn and decides to meet his fulang/wife earlier in his new life so he can save him from the clutches of the evil stepmother.

Review: This is actually an okay rebirth, sweet pampering, slow romance novel. I just got bored after MC and ML finally got together because there was nothing else to look forward to.

Reborn Medical Soldier (重生卫生兵)

Author: Mo Xiyue (陌夕月)

Summary: It’s about a reborn medical soldier set in the late 1900s

Review: Terrible pacing, so much so that the author had to keep addressing complaints about it lol. The first 20+ chapters had nothing to do with the military. It’s just farming life with the protagonist. If it was only a few chapters, then whatever, but over 20 long chapters??? Bruh, if I wanted to read a farming novel, I’d pick up a farming novel. The title and summary promised me a military story.

Perhaps to calm down the raging readers, the author had to include extras in the author’s notes featuring the main couple already in a relationship, long before the male lead even appeared. Not even mini theaters, but whole scenes that might as well be in its own chapter. Damn.

Even when the military life finally started, the pacing was still terrible. There was no saving it.

Muse Reflections

After marinating with Muse this week, I really wish Jimin had had time to do MVs for Rebirth, Slow Dance and Be Mine. They are all so deserving of attention in their own right not just as album B-sides.

I guess that's always going to be the case. With Jimin it's never going to be enough.

i don't really know how to articulate this super clearly but i really appreciate that like. kuon conceptually with the 8 floaty swords behind him could very easily have turned out like a murakumo knockoff and im impressed by how visually and stylistically distinct he is. its really nice
