An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

POTUS must put strong conditions on Israel funding now.

The time has come to put strong conditions on any aid going to the Israeli government. Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t listening to President Biden, or to the families of hostages, or to the global community. He’s not interested in negotiating towards peace. He doesn’t seem to care about freeing the hostages. Instead he’s insisting on undertaking an assault on Rafah, a neighborhood filled with starving civilians who have no place left to go. It’s a mission that will have a catastrophically high body count. Any American funding should be conditioned on his absolutely not doing this. In general, I do NOT want my tax dollars paying for missiles, bombs, or armaments to be used against a ravaged population of mostly women and children in Gaza. I don’t want it paying for war crimes. I don’t want it funding settlement expansion. The U.S. has leverage. It’s time use it. Sometimes even our closest friends require tough talk. Put strong conditions on Israel funding now. Thanks.

श्रीलंका और अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्राकोष (आईएमएफ) के बीच 2.9 अरब डॉलर के राहत पैकेज में से करीब 33 करोड़ डॉलर की दूसरी किस्त जारी करने के लिए कर्मचारी स्तर पर एक महत्त्वपूर्ण समझौता हुआ है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष ने इस साल मार्च में श्रीलंका की आर्थिक नीतियों और सुधारों का समर्थन करने के लिए विस्तारित निधि सुविधा (ईएफएफ) के तहत 48 महीने की 2.9 अरब डॉलर की विस्तारित व्यवस्था को मंजूरी दी थी।

The UN says ISIS remains a capable and dangerous organization despite territorial losses.

Hezbollah is pushing the Lebanese government to have more tieswith the Syrian government. Lebanon adopted a policy of dissociationwith Syria in 2012. Hezbollah hopes that better ties with the Assadgovernment can help in the fight against ISIS, help return refugees inLebanon to Syria, and improve the economic situation.

A UK official says that the world needs to add to the UK’s effort to save people in Yemen from cholera. The official said humanitarian aidis “the only hope the Yemeni people have to survive.” 

The UN has rejected a proposal from Saudi Arabia that would have the UN run the airport in Sanaa Yemen. The UN says it is the responsibility of the combatants to make sure humanitarian aid can get to the people.

Sanctions against the Venezuela’s oil export could lead to the starvation of the Venezuelan people.

Trump is considering taking military action in Venezuela.
