POTUS must put strong conditions on Israel funding now.

The time has come to put strong conditions on any aid going to the Israeli government. Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t listening to President Biden, or to the families of hostages, or to the global community. He’s not interested in negotiating towards peace. He doesn’t seem to care about freeing the hostages. Instead he’s insisting on undertaking an assault on Rafah, a neighborhood filled with starving civilians who have no place left to go. It’s a mission that will have a catastrophically high body count. Any American funding should be conditioned on his absolutely not doing this. In general, I do NOT want my tax dollars paying for missiles, bombs, or armaments to be used against a ravaged population of mostly women and children in Gaza. I don’t want it paying for war crimes. I don’t want it funding settlement expansion. The U.S. has leverage. It’s time use it. Sometimes even our closest friends require tough talk. Put strong conditions on Israel funding now. Thanks.

"Enforcing Accountability: Tackling Unauthorized Flags and Boards in Kerala"

The Kerala High Court issued a series of directions in a *case on December 4, 2024, given the rising menace of unauthorized boards, flags, and festoons installed in public spaces across Kerala. The court emphasized that effective governance necessitates accountability among officials, particularly in addressing public grievances. It reinforced the need for strict compliance with earlier orders and warned of penalties for failure to act.

→ It is noticed that their presence often contravenes regulations governing public spaces and municipal aesthetics.

→ They create visual clutter, obstruct pathways, leading to unsafe conditions for pedestrians and commuters.

→ The continuing violations indicate indifference or inefficiency on the part

of the responsible Local Self-Government Institutions (LSGIs).

→ It also shows Political or other influential groups interests which discourage LSGI officials from taking corrective action, undermining the rule of law.

➡️The High Court noted

→ this as an issue which requires strict accountability and enforcement to maintain public order and ensure compliance with legal standards.

→ acknowledged that violations persist unabated, possibly due to deliberate or inadvertent indifference by officials.

→ identified the Secretaries of LSGIs as the final authority responsible for removing unauthorized installations and implementing related legal actions.

→ emphasized the need to instill accountability and the "fear of law" among LSGI Secretaries to ensure compliance.

➡️The issue before the Court was whether the Secretaries of LSGIs and the State Government have fulfilled their legal obligations to ensure the removal of unauthorized boards, flags, and festoons and to address the associated public grievances effectively.

➡️The High Court:

► Directed the Secretary of the Department of Local Self Government Institutions to appear online for interaction on 11.12.2024.

► Mandated the Secretaries of all LSGIs to remove unauthorized boards, flags, and festoons within 10 days.

► Held the Secretaries personally accountable for non-compliance, with fines to be imposed for failures.

► Ordered the Government to issue a circular within three days, informing all LSGI Secretaries of the Court’s directives.

► Directed the Police to provide protection to LSGI staff executing the removal, ensuring no interference.

► Instructed the State Police Chief to issue instructions to all Police Stations for supporting the removal process.
