Bit of a shame I left hp before I entered svsss because one of my favourite tropes at the time was 'dumbledore calls in External Support from different fandom during ootp and they show up to grimmauld to help (and utterly upstage everyone in the process)'.
And needless to say Sqq, at any point, would have been perfect.
Like. He's a teacher too. A scholar. Secretly from the modern world so he'd have no trouble with its intricate and mysterious workings, incidentally making himself look very cool and competent in the process. He'd have So Many Opinions. He'd incite bloody war with umbridge. He'd project his feelings for sj onto Snape with a side of commiseration for his role and fate. He'd mostly pretend to know so much less about hp than he actually does (which, hilariously, he canonically name drops in svsss, AND his system is pretty heavily implied to have previously worked in, like wow). He'd be constantly comparing Harry with lbh. He'd have a running internal dialogue bemoaning the world building, the characters, Harry's fate, the general decision making process, maybe some death of the author. Geeking out about magic. Raiding the library whenever he's free.
He might bring his students as part of an exchange, he might bring a fellow peak lord if it was a serious mission (liushen anyone?) he could bring adult lbh. Maybe sqh? Or sqh could be the messenger with the system and/or mbj.
A self aware character who couldn't live with himself if he didn't at least try to change Harry's fate whether or not he actually likes the kid? He could canon that divergence before you could say horcrux. That kind, oblivious, smoking hot exotic teacher who had people ruining their lives for him in a world that was used to people that pretty and also hated him specifically?? The hogwarts students wouldn't stand a CHANCE.
Man the scenes are coming to me so strongly I almost want to write it just as a like. Satire piece or something. Just Sqq ripping everything to shreds, accidentally or not. Diatribes on the author biases. Unintentional themes. Iffy world building choices. Nothing new, but through the lens of svsss' Sqq it'd be something for sure XD.

Classes start this week at Purcell Collegiate School (PCS), an international boarding school in B.C.'s southeast.
The first cohort of 12 students from across Canada, and countries like Japan and China, are living in a former residential school in the Aq'am community, within the Ktunaxa Nation.
The building, St. Eugene Mission, was a residential school from 1912 until 1970.
In 1992, the community began the process of turning the building into a resort, and today it's an award-winning hotel, golf course and casino that is owned by the Ktunaxa Nation and Shuswap Indian Band.
Now, a portion of it is also home to international students while they live and learn in the community.

I’m sorry but the most unrealistic thing in DBDA is not the ghosts, talking animals, witches, or actual Hell, but the idea that there’s a boarding school with enough international acclaim to have a student from Japan in northwestern Washington

Rosekiller muggle au *part 1*
In the summer of 2009, the small town somewhere in London buzzed with the energy of long, sun-soaked days and the promise of endless adventures.
Barty and Evan first met on a warm spring afternoon, where their fathers had just formed a business partnership. As the two men shook hands and discussed plans, their sons exchanged curious glances. Barty, with his wild black hair and mischievous black eyes, was the first to break the silence.
“Hey, do you have the new playstation?” he asked, his voice full of excitement.
Evan, a bit shy but eager to make a friend, nodded. “Yeah, wanna play?.”
That was all it took. From that day on, the boys became inseparable. Every weekend, as their fathers conducted business meetings at the Crouch house, Barty and Evan retreated to Barty’s room, where they lost themselves in the colorful chaos of video games and preteen drama. The room echoed with laughter and playful banter, their bond growing stronger each day.
Evan, was a smaller child, shy and more reserved, in Barty he found a source of courage and adventure. Barty’s reckless enthusiasm and daring spirit were the perfect counterbalance to Evan’s quieter nature. Barty, in turn, admired Evan’s everything. From his creativity to his love for Gta. Barty found in Evan a sense of peace in contrast to his not so calm personality.
Outside of their gaming marathons, they learned to skate together, spending countless hours in the driveway, falling and getting up, each time a little better than before. Evan’s curly hair would swing with each movement, his dark skin glistening with sweat, while Barty’s pale face lit up with every new trick they mastered. With every bloody knee or bruised elbow they felt the friendship becoming something more like a brotherhood.
Their friendship was a haven, a world where they could be themselves without fear of judgment. It was in these moments that Barty and Evan became more than friends—they became brothers in spirit, their bond unbreakable.
Every weekend followed a familiar pattern. Early Saturday mornings, Evan would arrive at the Crouch house, his face lighting up at the sight of Barty waiting for him by the door. They would spend the morning immersed in their favorite games, the hours slipping by unnoticed as they laughed and competed.
By noon, they would take a break, often grabbing snacks from the kitchen and lounging in the backyard. Barty’s crazy ideas often led them on crazy adventures, from building makeshift ramps for their skateboards to imagining wild stories where they were heroes on a quest.
After lunch, they would sometimes venture into town, exploring the local shops and parks, their conversations ranging from dreams of the future to the latest game strategies. Evan’s quiet confidence and Barty’s vibrant energy made them a perfect duo, balancing each other in a way that felt natural and effortless.
In the evening, Evan would head home for dinner, but not before making plans to return early the next day. Sunday mornings were much the same, filled with laughter, games, and the comfort of their friendship. By the afternoon, as the business meetings wrapped up, Evan would leave, promising to be back the next weekend.
These weekends were the highlight of their week, a cherished ritual that brought joy and meaning to their young lives. Little did they know, change was on the horizon, ready to disrupt their perfect routine.

idk if i have just lucked out with the people at my school but i am loving the social experience im having in grad school. in undergrad, it felt like the main way people socialized was through parties or drinking, which wasn't really my thing, but so far the vibe with my grad school friends has been "instead of going to a party, do you want to sit in my living room and hang out with my dog for three hours" or "wanna go to a piano concert?" or "do you have any friday night plans? do you want to get milkshakes and play board games?" and it's great

as someone who studied in an international boarding school i can confirm it is full of hot rich asians and yes you will fail every class regardless of how smart u thought u were before and yes you always have that one teacher that’s basically like a sibling to u. that’s just how we roll. also sharing a bathroom literally sucks and roommates are extremely hit or miss but mine was the best :3 (natalie ily)
ur roommate doesn’t speak english? fuck it. communicate by pointing at shit and extremely over-exaggerated facial expressions. if u study a foreign language, make friends w the kids from that country and they’ll do ur assignments for u while you do their english assignments. whatever you do do NOT fall for the ‘perfect boy from hong kong who’s captain of the basketball team’ because chances are he’s not the one for u girl. trust me.
