Moller M400 Skycar, 2001. A project by Paul Moller (pictured) to market a  a flying car with VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) capability. Each of the four pivoting ducted fan pods is powered by a pair of Rotapower Wankel engines (making 8 rotary engines in total, each producing 102hp, so 816hp in combination). The Skycar demonstrated tethered hovering capability in 2003, being tethered for insurance reasons. The development of the M400 (and smaller M200) encountered a number of setbacks and, as of 2023, the M400 has never achieved free flight. The parent company, Moller International, has been dormant since 2015. Moller has made several unsuccessful attempts to sell the prototype on Ebay

Okay so we have an INTERN I guess? Someone reached out and asked about a summer internship program, and like… this whole operation is me in a bedroom periodically working with some friends… BUT! I wasn't gonna shut her down, so I let her know the situation, and she was still super into what we had to offer!

We've been going over a lot of basics of things like subtractive EQ, compression, signal flow and effects chains, and sound design, but last week we touched a bit on sound design in synthetic instruments, and today we did a hands-on lesson in fiddling with all the knobs in a synth instrument plugin.

I HAVE FULLY UNLEASHED HELL.

She is now doing a deep dive into her instruments and playing with ALL the settings, and the results are absolutely amazing. I am genuinely so proud to have this horrible little noise gremlin under my wing creating weird synth patches.

At some point I've got to actually start doing classes for this stuff, because I know there are loads of people who would love to learn all the things I've been teaching.
