the ibrahimi mosque in hebron, palestine is located inside the larger cave of the patriarchs complex. according to abrahamic religions, the biblical abraham, sarah, issac, and jacob are burried here, making the cave a holy site in judaism, christianity, and islam. (the prophet muhammad is also said to have made pilgrimage here.) the mosque was originally a christian basilica built during byzantine rule, and was converted into a mosque during umayyad rule in the 7th-8th centuries. the conquering of palestine by the crusaders in 1099 and saladin's retaking in 1187 saw the mosque turned into a church and back into a mosque again.
the minbar dates to the fatimid era. originally commissioned by vizier husayn ibn ali for a mosque in ascalon, it was relocated to hebron after saladin demolished the old city, fearing a crusader counterattack.
after the 1994 cave of the patriarchs massacre, the iof split the mosque into muslim and jewish sections. it's still flanked by soldiers and checkpoints today.
#palestine#architecture#interior#details#worship#muslim#my posts#''-srael at least takes accountability of its own people who do bad things!!''#yeah rectifying a kahanist massacring a bunch of palestinian muslims praying at a mosque is toooooootally rectified by splitting the mosque#60/40 and instituting strict ordinances about when#palestinians are allowed to use the mosque and literally where they're allowed to walk outside of it while lining it with soldiers and#escorting in tours of more fanatical settlers who can come and go as they please and who they also refused to disarm. sure.#(i'm being sarcastic if you can't tell)

I just feel that grinding and professionalism are sooo against my desired state of being and the older I get the more I feel like I’m just collecting these fractured versions of myself I’ll never be able to reconcile but maybe that’s okay… I still kind of envy people who can condense it all into one genuine self tho
#like interior depression thoughts self external social self and now young professional self#it’s hard grinding too esp bcus honestly my self esteem has never been so low since I was a teenager#but I chose to move here and with it comes grind culture… I never thought I’d see Seattle as chill lol#it’s just that what I really want is to be able to chase anything that makes me happy not working hard or supporting an institution lol

The teachers room at Belgraves Institute.
I used all the objects from the Book Nook Kit except for the big sofa. The are only 2 permanent teachers at the Institute. Ms Coombes (Night Class) and Mr Morlind (Day Class).
I might change the walls, though.

Antiochus Yearning for Stratonice
Artist: Stefano Pozzi (Italian, 1699–1768)
Date: c. 1740
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL, United States
Description
Struck by a mysterious illness, Antiochus lies in bed near death. His grieving father, who has recently taken Stratonice as his wife, summons a doctor. Noticing that the sight of the young woman quickens Antiochus’ pulse and that passion causes his sickness, the doctor describes the youth’s predicament to his father, who selflessly offers Stratonice to his son. The subject, both a love story and an example of parental devotion, enjoyed considerable popularity well into the 1800s.
