"Uh, yeah. because I'm new to this town. Everything, and also practically everyone, here is unfamiliar to me. I pretty much know nothing and it's all so overwhelming... I get into my head a lot." He admitted, using that as a way to end what he was saying there before he ended up going into a full on ramble. The other male's response he got to what he had said about his boss caught him off guard, which was visible on his face. "Huh... That's an...interesting way to look at it." He simply said and left it at that.
Despite hearing him say it was sometimes best not to overthink, Brodie actually started thinking. Although that more so had to do with the other things that were said to him about him thinking to come here. So it took a moment of silence on his end before he spoke again. "I suppose you're right. I don't know. I just...sometimes tend to second guess things. Especially when I'm, again, overwhelmed like I am now. Like, was a bar really the best place for a new guy in town to wind down? I thought so at first, but it's clear now that didn't take everything into account. Like me being a personal trainer as you pointed out. However, you also do bring up good points. So I guess me staying isn't really an issue."
Tumblr media
Wes smiled at that. "And do you know why you are nervous?" He asked him. It was true that the other reeked of it. He didn't fully understand why. He didn't even think the guy was attracted to him, at least not yet. He stopped himself from trying to figure Brodie out. It might as well give him a headache. "It is fine. I'm getting paid and that's all that matters." And it did bring good tips on of that, which he hoped Brodie would provide despite his comment about alcohol. "Does it matter? You are not hurting yourself nor anybody else. Sometimes is best not to overthink things. Life is tough enough already."

starter for: @wesparkcr location: rodeo somewhere time: 2023
"What've we got, Jay?" Alara called over her shoulder as she unloaded the stretcher from the rig, hitting the ground running, she and her partner headed in the direction of the ring as he explained. "Some sort of bull riding accident, the person who called it in wasn't sure the extent of the injuries." Alara nodded taking in the information and trying to think through the realm of possibilities a bull riding accident could cause. "Excuse me!" she yelled as they approached a crowd of people in a circle, assuming, correctly, that that was where the injured person was. "Stand back, people, paramedics coming through!"
Finally, the mangled body on the ground came into view and Alara crouched down next to the man once they'd reached him. "Sir, can you hear me?" she asked, reaching out to gingerly check the man's pulse. She was so focused on taking his vitals as her partner talked to a person nearby who had witnessed the incident, she didn't get a good look at his face just yet.

while i was trying to wade through the large amounts of people trying to leave the central subway station, everyone abruptly came to a halt in front of the subway turnstiles. two french girls had misunderstood the tap-out process, and one of them was now stuck behind the gate. as i was wracking my brain on how to explain the tap-in tap-out process of the milan metro to both of them with my rudimentary french while they both got increasingly upset at the closed gate between them, a young teenager suddenly pushed me to the side.
i was just about to give him my most scathing disgruntled glare when he took out his ticket and, after realizing they had no common language, started gesticulating wildly in front of the french girl left behind. he pointed at the ticket, then at her, and very seriously said: “on three, we go.” she nodded, and after he counted to three, holding up his fingers so there could be no confusion, they sprinted through the gate together, giggling profusely afterwards as if they had just pulled off the heist of the century,
it was just a small moment during the morning commute. but i realized then and there that the time i had spent trying to intellectualize the problem and wondering if my lack of language skills would be awkward the situation could have already been resolved. and that while i had been mad about being pushed aside, the teenager got it exactly right: no questions, no fear or shyness, just direct action to help where you can and rushing there to do so. i think about him every time now when i run to lift someone’s pram or ask a lost looking person if they need my help despite the fear of being rude. on three, we go.

the tradwife movement is the same as it has always been - back in the kitchen, back to breeding - it just has better branding.
when i was younger, i hated pink. i was not like other girls. this is now something i'm embarrassed of - this was not me being a "girl's girl."
but it was expressing something many of us felt at the time: i literally wasn't what girlhood was supposed to be. this is a hard thing to explain, but you know when you're not performing girlhood correctly. it isn't as easy as "i liked x when girls liked y" - because there were other girls that liked x, too - but i never figured out exactly the correct way to like x, or to be interested in y.
now there is the divine feminine. this is the same rhetoric it has always been: women are biologically driven to like pink and ribbons and submitting to our husbands.
the problem is that the patriarchy found a better PR team. because yes, actually, i want every woman to have the choice to be a homemaker. i also want her taken seriously for her legitimate home-making labor. i want her to be recognized as also having a job, just unpaid. i want men to have this opportunity, too.
but it is no longer "i made this choice and I love it." instead it is a sixteen-paragraph rant about how selfish it is that my generation isn't having kids. instead it's long videos about how if you feed your children processed foods, you're going to kill them. instead it is "this is what womanhood is supposed to be. i feel bad for any other choices you're making."
the shame spiral is just prettier. it is large houses devoid of personality. it is the implication: if you don't have this, you aren't happy. the solid, everlasting assurance: women are actually supposed to be submitting. this is the default. this is the natural state of things. all other attempts inflict suffering.
but you can no longer say i'm not like other girls. you can no longer reject this image completely. you cannot find it revolting, even if you know that the underbelly is toxic and festering. sure, it is the same repackaged patriarchy. but the internet does not have shades of grey. you should support and reward other women! your disgust is actually internalized misogyny. not because you are seeing a vision of yourself the way they're trying to train you to be. not because you feel her ghost pass within an inch of your earlobe. not because your father will eventually ask you - why can't you be like her?
because they figured out how to make it beautiful: women will sell other women on this idea, and we will find the singular loophole in feminism. sure, she's shaming you in most of her videos. sure, she implies that a different life is obscene. but she just wants you to be happy! you'd be happier if you were listening!
and the whole time you're sitting there thinking: i'd actually just be happier if i had that kind of money.

I really wonder if trauma theorists who say things like "Humans are the only animal that will be in a fright state when physically safe" or "the rest of the animal kingdom doesn't get PTSD" have ever, like
Do you think they've actually ever met an animal?

man we are really so lucky that it was misha collins who was cast to play the gay angel.. and not just because he made the angel gay but literally this man is the most unhinged person that could have walked onto the cw spn set and they literally couldn’t get rid of him

Zepotha will never be Goncharov because when it comes down to it, tumblr culture is collaborative, while tiktok culture is merely iterative, and those are not the same thing.
