Late Night Talking

AN: just overall being a huge huge fan right now.

Pairing: Harry x reader

You were sitting in the far back corner of the coffee-shop, nursing a tea that has gone cold a long time ago. You were reading a book peacefully, as you always do, when you heard gasps and irritating giggling all over the coffee shop. You just shook your head, not even looking up from your book. A few minutes later someone sat down in your booth, opposite to you. You looked up, pushing your glass up on your nose so you can see the intruder and time seemed to stop. You looked at him questioningly, tilting your head the tiniest bit.

-Hey, I'm sorry, could you please pretend that we were meant to meet here? Like old friends or something. - the man asked.

You looked around, all of the women in the place looked at your way. Some swooned at the man in front of you, some gave you hateful and jealous looks.

-Will they murder me if i do? - you asked putting a piece of paper in you book, closing it, setting it aside.

-Maybe hate, but im sure noone will bother you.

-Why are they following you? - you asked still not knowing who the mysterious man is.

-Well i mean.. - he motioned to himself - you know.. - he said smiling.

You tilted your head again, then looked at the people in the coffeeshop, then back at the now smirking man.

-You really dont know who am i? - he asked suddenly shocked.

You just shook your head, sipping your tea slowly.

-Well that's refreshing.. - he said chuckling. -M'name is Harry. Harry Styles. Thank you for saving me from them.

-(Y/N), so, are you like.. some musician i'm supposed to know? - you asked. He sure was handsome you thought, and if you are saving him, it doesn't have to be in silence.

He beamed at you. He rarely met anyone who didn't know who he was anymore.

-Well i mean.. um.. yea. I am. And what do you do (Y/N)? - he smiled a bit wider this time, his dimples showing, transforming his handsome face with their childish magic.

-I.. um. I'm a UX designer. - you said shyly.

-That is really cool. Can you show me some of your work? - he asked and you nod shyly, a blush creeping up to your cheeks as you fixed your glasses again while you handed him your phone, with your instapage open.

He scrolled through it, occasionally looking up at your blushed face.

-These are crazy good! Do you do album covers and like flyers and stuff?

-Occasionally yes. Are you interested?

-Very. - he smiled as he handed your phone back, his fingers gently touching yours, a shiver running down your spine.

You freeze for a bit, just looking at his smiling face.

-RIght um, - you rummage through your bag - here is my card, um contact me whenever. I'm kind of always working. - he looks at the card in his hand, your name, number and email on it, before pocketing it.

To be honest he had an amazing graphics team, but he found you refreshing and adorable. If this meant that he will give out some work to you, so that he can meet you and get to know you better, then he will. He was sure his team would understand if they could meet you.

It was really brief, and sudden, but you were kind, and interested. And oh so so pretty.

When he got to the meeting with his manager he couldn't help but smile the whole time.

-... so that concludes the meeting, you can start to record the album two weeks from now.. - she said -Harry, are you with us?

-What? oh yeah yeah, two weeks from now, great. Thank you all. - he said pocketing the card again. When the others left the room, his manager sat down beside him.

-What is up with you today Harry? - she asked.

-I met a girl today. - he said and his manager chuckled.

-You do that quite often.. what happened?

-He didn't know who i was. - he smiled fondly.

-Well thats.. new. - she said - and? what happened?

-She saved me in the coffeeshop, then we talked a bit before i noticed that i was gonna be late. She's a designer, i asked her to show me her work. - he said opening his insta to search for yours, showing his manager.

-SHe is good. - she said.

-I know.. i.. i want her to do the new album's cover and the graphics things for it.

-You know you have a whole team of designers Harry, right?

-I know.. i just.. there is something about her..

His manager sighed and shook her head.

-I'll see what i can do.

He sat in his apartment, flipping your card between his fingers, contemplating if he should text you.

He decided that it is now or never. He unlocked his phone, adding you to his contacts then opening the messeaging app.

unknown number: hey, um, this is Harry. Thank you again for today. My manager will most probably email you one of these days. How was your day?

He then saw the three dots appearing, then disappearing a few times.

(y/n): it was alright, the women in the coffeeshop cursed me out i think. :) did you get to your meeting on time?

unknown number: I did yeah, and don't worry about them. I just hope noone took pictures and stuff. I'd hate it if you wouldn't work with us -talk to me- again because of the internet and the fan base's conspiracys.

(y/n): Fanbase huh? Now i feel really embarassed for not knowing who you are.

Harry S: Don't be, that's what got me comfortbale enough to bother you in the first place. You were the only one who didn't give a shit about me being there.

You had a sudden urge to bite your nails.

(y/n): Are you like i don't know.. known worldwide?

Harry S: still not looked me up? *shocked* you're not interested even slighlty? (just joking )

(y/n): well, i wouldn't want to get to know "you" from tabloids now would i? also i don't think it's best if i remain impartial about a potential client.

He felt his heart miss a beat. You did not search him up, cause you knew that wouldn't be the real him. You were just wonderful. A breath of fresh air in this unforgiving world. You did not want a piece of him to yourself, you wanted to give getting to know him a fair shot.

Harry S: i am quite fondly shocked. Do you wanna hear a song?

(y/n): You'd sing for me? Like now?

Harry S: Only, if you promise not to release it before the album releases. :D

You chuckled as you sat down on your balcony with a tea you just made. Covering yourself with a blanket, quietly smoking in the setting sun. Then he called. Well, face timed. You hesitantly picked it up. Waving to him cutely.

He stopped and beamed as he saw you. All bundled up, the sunset reflecting behind you as you smoked. He knew that sometimes smoking can be even sexy, but you, this adorable stranger, who genuenly had no idea who he was, smoking with your cute, copper hair in a bun, a few strands framing your face as you looked at him sitting there with a guitar.

He then started..

You found yourself mesmerized by his voice. Your cigarette died as the song ended. And he smiled at you shyly.

-You didn't say you were this good. I also understand why those women cursed me out. - you smiled at him.

-Oh cmon, do not flatter me.

-I ought to flatter my potential client am i not? - you chuckled, making him chuckle as well.

-Touche. So, what did you think?

-I don't think you need my opinion to know you're really good. - you smiled to yourself.

You looked to the side for a bit, and he took a screenshot for himself. You were just too pretty not to capture.

-Oh your manager emailed me. We'll be doing a meeting over zoom sometime next week.

-That's.. thats nice. I'll ask her to send some songs over so you can get the overall feeling of it. But i'm sure you'll be awesome. I still have some to write.. but i feel like it won't be so hard.

-Well, i'm looking forward to it. - you smiled.

When you entered the conference room, you were relieved to find only Harry and his manager there. You hoped to get this job. YOu have been texting every day since that call, and you couldn't help but feel closer to him. Of course your heart leapt every time he texted or smiled at you, but you did not harbour unsolicited feeling or hopes towards anything with him. Working with him and being friends is just enough. He was a really interesting person.

He shot up as you entered, hugging you.

-'m so glad you're here.

You immediately blushed, your body felt all tingly as he did, his scent filling your nose. He didn't seem like he'd wanna let you go, until his manager smirked and cleared her throat. Then he suddenly let you go.

You noticed a slight blush creeping up his neck as he sat down.

The meeting went well. You have gone over styles, ideas, main colors for it. Later that day Harry texted you that he wants to buy you dinner sometime in a way of thanking you and celebrating this new work union.

-It might not be the best idea Harry. I wouldn't wanna get caught up in like.. you know..

He stopped for a bit, you could hear a chuckle.

-Yea right, um.. we'll think of something. YOu're not getting off the hook thoug sweetheart. - he said and you could hear his smile over the phone, making your heart jump at the nickname.

-I wouldn't dream of it. - you smiled to yourself.

Then you worked. You hadn't heard much of him in the next few days, except a few messages, but it was okay, you were both busy, and he had no obligations to talk to you anyways. He is probably busy with songwriting, his girlfriend and other stuff.

That saturday you were at home, reading quietly when your phone pinged.

Harry S: Are you home?

(Y/n): Yes, why?

Harry S: Go out to the balcony? :)

You put your book and your phone down and walked out to the balcony. As you look around you notice him with a bag of something over his shoulder as he beams at you, waving. You smile at him shaking your head, then motion him to come up.

As you open your door he basically leaps and takes you into his arms.

-Hey you. - he smiles into your hair, revelling in your scent.

-Hey, what are you doing here? - you ask as he takes your hand and casually walks into your kitchen.

-Told you i'll treat you to dinner,, didn't i? - he said as he started to take out groceries to the counter.

-You're unbeliavable. - you smiled at him.

He cooked while you helped him. It felt natural, domestic. Not once did you felt like this with anyone in your life, let alone a half stranger who is known by the whole world.

You decided to open a bottle of wine, and talk a bit more on your balcony. It was nice getting to know him. EVen the silence was comfortable. Then you heard a stutter. Looked at him, holding an analog camera as his face emerged from behind it.

-Who needs paparazzis when i have you. - you said smiling.

You started to follow eachother on instagram.

He had concerts all over europe, so for the following month you had not been able to see him. You listened to the songs he sent, working on the cover, and your other projects. You know he won't have too much time to text or to call, but again, it was okay. He will when he can or wants.

He was supposed to come back home to record the remaining songs, when you saw the picture he took of you on his feed. YOu weren't recognizable, so they couldn't find you. The post was your photo, after swiping there was a video of him, in a dimly lit hotel room singing a few lines of a new song.

"Things haven’t been quite the same, There’s a haze on the horizon babe, It’s only been a couple of days and I miss you,"

was what he sang, the caption under the picture only said:

I won't even try to get you off my mind.

His fans went crazy in the comments. Most of them were sure that you were his girlfriend, and that this was a love letter from him. And even a song about you.

You didn't know what to do, or how to go around this. YOu hoped at least he really truly missed you. You missed him.

You quickly sketched two blue birds, and wrote "If i was a blue bird i would fly to you"

then you posted it without caption.

Minutes after he liked it. You smiled to yourself.

And yeah I was a big sucker for East Asian/Japanese fashion circa 2010 when I was a fashion student. I was spending all my student money on imported TUNE magazine lol

The sister magazine trio TUNE (grunge/alternative fashion) / STREET (normcore street fashion) / FRUiTS (decora/harajuku fashion) was EVERYTHING back then

Streetstyle is kinda dead now (mostly bc of social medias, which allowed to share our look and make trend go viral without having to go outside and getting spotted by a street style photographer). There are still some streestyle pages here and then but they totally lost the ace of the original street style movement.

Just look back to back TUNE (which is an archive of the original (paper) magazine), and Ensorcelant instagram (a popular K fashion instapage). Despite its appearance, Ensorcelant is tightly curated, the pics have the same light, taken at the same place, the people photographed are obviously casted, and let's not talk about the obvious photoshop... Meanwhile TUNE was more diverse (either in terms of people photographed or places & time of shooting), spontaneous & genuine.... I made a post which is making rounds about how the gen Z will never be able to replicate the ace of previous generations bc they are unable to pull out the same spontaneity: facetune, the make up, offbeat styling, there's always something off. Even with the current 90s revival, every media trying to pull out the aesthetic pulled out a very corny lackluster delivery.
